IND vs WI 3rd ODI Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report

IND vs WI 3rd ODI Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report | IND vs WI 3rd ODI Dream11 Prediction Today | Trinidad Pitch Report

Well, what about that? Out of the blue, West Indies pulled off a morale-boosting victory, levelling their three-match series against the more fancied India lineup.

There may be no World Cup for the Windies to look forward to, but the efforts of Shai Hope and the bowlers is cause for optimism. The victory in the second ODI provides some joy after what has been a difficult period, but now the challenge is backing up that big effort with another.

For India, it is likely that the likes of Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav will get another run. India’s collapse a few days ago is room for improvement, with players keen to make an impression with the World Cup creeping up ever so slowly.

IND vs WI 3rd ODI Possible Playing XIs

Barring injury, West Indies should stick with the same team that won the second ODI.

West Indies: 1. Brandon King, 2. Kyle Mayers, 3. Alick Athanaze, 4. Shai Hope (c & wk), 5. Shimron Hetmyer, 6. Keacy Carty, 7. Romario Shepherd, 8. Yannic Cariah, 9. Alzarri Joseph, 10. Gudakesh Motie, 11. Jayden Seales

It’s tough to predict India’s playing XI. Going by Rahul Dravid’s words, there is a chance the visitors will rest Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli again.

India: 1. Ishan Kishan (wk), 2. Shubman Gill, 3. Sanju Samson, 4. Suryakumar Yadav, 5. Hardik Pandya, 6. Axar Patel, 7. Ravindra Jadeja, 8. Shardul Thakur, 9. Kuldeep Yadav/Yuzvendra Chahal, 10. Umran Malik, 11. Mukesh Kumar/Jaydev Unadkat

IND vs WI 3rd ODI Dream11 Prediction – Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

West Indies:

  • Shai Hope continues to impress against India. After his match-winning 63* in the second ODI, Hope has now scored 983 runs at an average of 49.15 against the men in blue.
  • Is this the day Shimron Hetmyer fires? He’s been out twice to left-arm spin this series (one vs. Jadeja and one vs. Kuldeep). He does have a strike rate of 100+ against both in ODIs, so it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.
  • Gudakesh Motie is bowling nicely. The impressive spinner has taken 2/26 and 3/36 so far in this series. On a pitch likely to aid turn, expect Motie to play an important role once again.
  • Romario Shepherd can fetch fantasy points. He has taken seven wickets in his last five matches, along with two starts with the bat (36 and 26). His 3/37 helped break the second ODI open for his team.
  • Alzarri Joseph has taken 22 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 29.72 against India.

India:

  • Ishan Kishan looks in the best form among India players. He has struck two half-centuries so far in this series.
  • Shubman Gill struggled for some fluency in the second ODI, but he can get going at any moment. He still has an impressive average of 61.45 after 26 ODIs (SR 104.88).
  • It’s a big game for Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav. Samson averages 56.50 in 12 matches, while Yadav still hasn’t really fired in the format (avg. 23.80).
  • Kuldeep Yadav has taken 31 wickets in 17 innings against West Indies in ODIs (avg. 22.09). Ravindra Jadeja is one wicket away from becoming the top wicket-taker in WI-IND ODIs. He currently has 44 (avg. 29.22).
  • Shardul Thakur, fresh off 3/42 in the second ODI, has taken 15 scalps in nine matches against West Indies (avg. 25.40).

Other Stats and Facts

  • West Indies have the chance to win their first ODI series over India since 2006.
  • Shai Hope vs Kuldeep Yadav in ODIs: 206 balls, 167 runs, three dismissals.
  • Ravindra Jadeja is six wickets away from 200 in ODIs.

Brian Lara Stadium Tarouba Trinidad Pitch Report and Weather

This will be first ODI at this ground. There have been 23 List A matches on this ground, with just seven 250+ scores, indicating that the surfaces typically assist the bowlers. Expect the spinners to play a role.

Rahul Dravid says India looking at bigger picture ahead of ODI WC

Cricket News: Rahul Dravid says India looking at bigger picture ahead of ODI WC | Rahul Dravid defends India’s team selections

Indian head coach Rahul Dravid has defended the decision to bring about multiple changes in the playing XI in the current One Day International (ODI) series against West Indies.

The Men in Blue rested skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to give chances to Sanju Samson and Axar Patel in the second ODI in Barbados on Saturday. The visitors faced a shocking setback as the Shai Hope-led side cruised to a six-wicket victory after bowling the Indian side out for 181.

Dravid, however, is looking at the bigger picture at this moment. He claimed that this series is the last opportunity for the team to test out some players considering that first-team regulars like Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul and Jasprit Bumrah are undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru currently.

“This (series) was our last chance to try out some of our players. We have a few players injured, at the NCA. With a month to go for the Asia Cup, we’re running out of time in a lot of ways. We’re hopeful that some of them will be fit for the Asia Cup and the World Cup,’ Dravid said after the loss in the second ODI on Saturday.

He added, “We can’t take those chances. We’ve to try out other players and give some chances, so that in a worst-case scenario they have some game time behind them.”

Rahul Dravid says India are seeking answers

Dravid revealed that the management is seeking answers to critical questions. He mentioned that playing Rohit and Kohli would not have given them those solutions in this series. Even in the first ODI, Rohit came out to bat at No. 7 whereas Kohli didn’t bat at all as India navigated a chase of 115 runs in Barbados. By the looks of it, India will continue with the same team combination in the series decider in Trinidad and Tobago.

“It gives us some time to make decisions on players. We just felt that, in a series like this, with just two-three matches to go before the Asia Cup, playing Virat and Rohit would not have given us too many answers. With the injuries we have at the NCA and some uncertainty around them, we wanted to give the other boys some chance. So that, if required, they can play,” Dravid explained.

India’s next ODI assignment after this series will be in the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, which begins on August 30. Post that, Rohit’s men will host Australia for a three-match bilateral series before kicking off their World Cup campaign on October 9 against Australia in Chennai.

Twitter reactions to Nicholas Pooran’s 137* off 55 balls

Cricket News: Twitter reactions to Nicholas Pooran’s 137* off 55 balls | Reactions to Nicholas Pooran’s 137* (55) in the MLC 2023 Final

Nicholas Pooran has just pulled off an innings many believe he is capable of producing. Pooran, often one of the most sought-after T20 players on the planet, hit a remarkable 137* off just 55 balls to seal the inaugural Major League Cricket (MLC) title for MI New York (MINY).

Pooran cleared the rope an extraordinary 13 times, along with ten fours. Only Imad Wasim (7.00) and Cameron Gannon (9.00) conceded less than ten an over for Seattle, whose attack had no answers to the MINY captain.

New York, who had finished fourth, rallied to win the title. They defended 141 against Washington Freedom in the Eliminator. A magnificent opening burst by Trent Boult meant they were always ahead of the game against Texas Super Kings in Qualifier 2. However, Pooran saved the best to last, making a mockery of what looked to be an excellent score of 183 by Seattle, headlined by Quinton de Kock’s 87 (52) that seems to be long forgotten amidst Pooran’s heroics.

Twitter reactions – Nicholas Pooran hammers 137* (55) to seal MLC 2023 title for MI New York

Fans took to Twitter in awe of Pooran’s effort. “Words are not enough to describe this knock from Nicholas Pooran. You’re a genius man,” one tweet read. “Nicholas Pooran! What a player. One of the greatest T20 final knocks. Made an absolute mockery of the chase against the best side in the tournament,” read another.

Below are some of the reactions to a memorable innings by a supremely talented player.

Pooran and MINY can celebrate an excellent achievement before attention shifts to the upcoming Caribbean Premier League (CPL). The 11th season will begin on 16th August, with Pooran set to line up with Trinbago Knight Riders once again.

What is the weather forecast at The Oval for Day 5 of the fifth Ashes Test match?

Cricket News: What is the weather forecast at The Oval for Day 5 of the fifth Ashes Test match? | The Oval forecast for day 5

Rain brought curtains down on the fourth day of the fifth Test of the 2023 Ashes, with Australia at 135/0 chasing 384 in the last innings of the series.

David Warner (58*) and Usman Khawaja (69*) have set a solid foundation for the visitors to try and secure a memorable win on Monday. Pat Cummins’ men require 249 runs in 98 overs to take home the series by a 3-1 margin.

However, there is a possibility of rain playing spoilsport to their hopes.

What does the weather look like at The Oval on day 5?

According to BBC, there is a 25-45% chance of rainfall during the course of play on Monday. The forecast is for light rain showers, with the temperature to hover between 19°C-21°C for most part of the day.

Specifically, there is about a 33% chance of showers in the opening couple of hours of the game. It slightly eases down by lunch time with the sunlight expected to show up during the start of the second session.

The possibility of rainfall stays consistent thereafter. There is a 30-45% chance of precipitation from 2pm-4pm, which coincides with the time for the final session of the Test match.

However, AccuWeather paints a more optimistic picture. The platform predicts just 0.5mm will fall during the day, with less than a 40% chance of precipitation.

If there are showers, it will be difficult for England to complete their quota of 98 overs to take ten wickets. Similarly, it will hamper Australia’s hopes of chasing the remaining 249. But, a draw will secure a historic 2-1 series win for the visitors.

Australia will retain the urn even if England win this game, but a series win will ensure that they cap off this resounding tour convincingly.

List of highest successful run chases by Australia in Tests

Cricket News: List of highest successful run chases by Australia in Tests | What is the highest successful run chase by Australia?

Australia require 384 to win the fifth and final 2023 Ashes Test at The Oval. If the visitors pull it off, not only will they win their first Test series in England since 2001, but it will be one of their highest-ever successful chases in history.

Also, if Pat Cummins’ team reaches the target, it will be Australia’s highest successful run chase since 1999 and second-highest in history.

Below is a look at Australia’s top run chases.

Highest successful run chases by Australia in Test cricket

1. 404/3, vs England, 1948

Australia’s highest successful run-chase in Test cricket came all the way back in July, 1948. It was against arch-rivals England where Australia chased down a mammoth 404 in the fourth innings.

England won the toss and decided to bat first at Headingley. The hosts racked up almost 500 runs in the first innings. Opener Cyril Washbrook and number three William Edrich scored 143 and 111 respectively. Opener Leonard Hutton scored 81.

Australia covered majority of the deficit, scoring 458 in their first innings, courtesy of Neil Harvey’s ton and Samuel Loxton’s 93. England then declared on 365-8 in the third innings of the game after each of their top four batters chipped in with half centuries.

With a mountain to climb, opener Arthur Morris and the legendary Sir Don Bradman stepped up for the Australians. The former scored a scintillating 182 while Sir Don Bradman remained unbeaten on 173 to pull off a spectacular 404-run chase. It was, at the time, the highest run-chase in Test history, and remained so for the next 55 years before West Indies bettered the record by chasing 418 against Australia in 2003.

2. 369/6, vs Pakistan, 1999

The second-highest successful run-chase for Australia in Test cricket came at home in November, 1999.

After being asked to bat first, Pakistan failed to display any sort of stability as they lost wickets at regular intervals. No one went past the 30-run mark barring Mohammad Wasim, who was dismissed nine runs short of a fighting ton.

But, Pakistan fought to keep Australia to 246, trailing by 24 on the first innings. They then scored 392 in their second innings, thanks to an Inzamam-ul-Haq century. The stylish opener Saeed Anwer laid the platform, scoring 78, while Ijaz Ahmed scored 82 batting at number five.

Chasing 369, Justin Langer and Adam Gilchrist scored tremendous centuries that won the game. Langer was awarded the Player of the Match award for scoring 59 in the first innings and then 127 in the fourth innings of the game.

List of highest successful run chases by Australia in Tests: Australia’s 369 vs Pakistan remains their second-highest successful run chase.

3. 362/7, vs West Indies, 1978

Australia chased down 359 against the West Indies in Guyana in March, 1978. The home side scored just 205 runs in the first innings, with opener Alvin Greenidge and number seven batter Sew Shivnarine combining to score 109 of them.

Australia then found themselves in a spot of bother when they lost half of their side with a deficit of 115. However, Bob Simpson and Steve Rixon scored fifties down the order to pull things back.

West Indies had a lead of 81 when they began their second innings, and they capitalized on the opportunity as they scored a whopping 439 runs. Alvadon Williams and Larry Gomes scored tons, while Derek Parry and Sew Shivnarine got fifties.

With 359 to get, Australia lost three early wickets, putting the hosts in the driver’s seat. However, opener Graeme Wood and number five batter Craig Serjeant scored 126 and 124 respectively to inspire a brilliant comeback.

4. 342/8, vs India, 1977

Chetandra Chauhan’s 88 and Mohinder Amarnath’s 90, along with some handy 30 oand 40-run cameos from Gundappa Viswanath, Dillip Vengsarkar, Syed Kirmani, Srinivas Venkataraghavan and Madan Lal guided India to a healthy first-inning score of 402.

In response, Bob Simpson scored a destructive 176, but Australia were bowled out for 394 in the first innings. Mohinder Amarnath, after missing out on a ton in the first innings, managed to score a hundred in India’s second innings. Sunil Gavaskar scored 127 runs and led India to a good total.

Chasing 339, Australia’s Anthony Mann bagged a hundred. Peter Toohey’s 83 and then Steve Rixon’s vital 23 lower down the order pushed Australia over the line in Perth.

5. 336/5, vs South Africa, 1950

South Africa won the toss and chose to bat first in Durban. Eric Rowan, opening the innings, scored 143. He was supported by Dudley Nourse’s 66 to eventually push the home side’s total to 311.

An extraordinary passage of play followed. Australia were bowled out for just 75. Barring the openers and number 10 batter Samuel Loxton, a string of single-digit scores filled the scorecard.

With a lead of 236, South Africa completely let go of the opportunity to post a huge target as they were bundled out for just 99. Neil Harvey scored a magnificent unbeaten 151 chasing 336, as Australia pulled off a proper heist.

Top 5 best Stuart Broad spells in Tests

Top 5 best Stuart Broad spells in Tests | Stuart Broad retires: A look at his best spells and performances in Test cricket

Ricky Ponting described him as the “Ultimate Ashes Warrior”. Glenn McGrath said, “he loves the big moments, he loves the pressure and that is the sign of a true champion.” “I felt quite emotional. I will genuinely miss watching him play,” said Alastair Cook.

Cricket’s greats, even down under, have paid their respects to a fine bowler. Nearly 16 years on from his Test debut in Sri Lanka as a fresh-faced 21-year old, Stuart Broad has shocked many after announcing his retirement following the fifth and final Ashes Test at The Oval.

One of England’s greatest ever, Broad will finish as one of only five bowlers to take 600 Test wickets. The 167-Test veteran was a thorn in the side of many teams over a number of years; particularly Australia, who will be quite happy to be relieved of their duties of facing Broad from August 2023 onwards.

Broad’s celebrappeals, match-turning spells, ability to get the crowd going, and saying it how it is are etched in the minds of millions. Over the course of 167 Tests, Broad entertained beyond belief, always willing to get stuck in and give his all no matter the circumstances.

The fact his retirement came as a surprise to many is testament to Broad’s fitness and longeivity.

“I’ve had a love affair with the Ashes my whole life and the thought of being able to bowl my last ball and face my last ball versus Australia is something that fills me with joy,” said Broad. How fitting.

5 of the best Stuart Broad spells in Test cricket

In tribute of Broad’s excellent career, here is a look at our top five best Stuart Broad performances in Test cricket. For a player who had the knack of producing game-changing spells, picking just five is a challenge, but here we go.

5. 7/44 vs New Zealand, Lord’s, 2013

New Zealand travelled to England in 2013 having not beaten them in a Test since 2008. At Lord’s, the Black Caps looked to have the perfect opportunity to break their eight-game winless drought with a target of 239 after an evenly-fought Test where the hosts took a first-innings lead of just 25.

However, Broad had other ideas. He went on one of his trademark rampages, ripping through New Zealand’s top four – including Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor – before the score had reached 25.

He took a further three to help dismantle New Zealand for 68 in 22.4 overs. Broad was adjudged man of the match.

4. 6/17 vs South Africa, Johannesburg, 2016

The third Test of England’s 2015/16 tour of South Africa was evenly poised. The visitors managed to sneak a ten-run lead after the first innings, conjuring up 323 thanks mainly to Joe Root’s excellent 110.

So, South Africa had the chance to build a solid lead on a challenging pitch where most players got out after making a start. But, Broad broke the game wide open, dismissing all of South Africa’s top five, including greats AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla, by the time the score reached 35.

The Proteas could not recover. Broad came back to take the final wicket of Faf du Plessis to end South Africa’s innings on just 83, leaving England just 74 to win which they chased with seven wickets to spare to seal the four-match series against the number one-ranked team at the time.

3. 6/50 vs Australia, Chester-le-Street, 2013

After going 2-0 down in the 2013 Ashes, Australia fought back nicely at Old Trafford before rain ruined their hopes of getting back in the series. In the fourth match at Chester-le-Street, the Australians made a fist of things once again, this time putting themselves in a strong position to chase 299.

Chris Rogers (49) and David Warner (71) put on 109 for the first wicket. Australia were still a good chance at 174/3, before Broad did his thing. His dismissal of Michael Clarke is one of the great Ashes deliveries, and he was unstoppable from there, taking six of the final seven wickets to fall to bundle Australia out for 224 and give England a 3-0 series lead.

2. 6/46 vs India, Trent Bridge, 2011

Broad’s ability to produce classic spells when England needed it was on display against India in 2011. England won that series 4-0, but they were in a precarious position in the second Test, with India – the world number one side at the time – sitting nicely 267/4 in reply to England’s 221.

Broad turned the match on its head with the second new ball. First, he dismissed Yuvraj Singh to break the 128-run stand between he and Rahul Dravid. Then, he rattled through the middle-lower order, taking a memorable hat-trick to give England a chance to take the game by the scruff of the neck in the third innings, which they did.

England’s legendary seamer finished with 6/46, but that spell of 5/5 broke India’s resistance not only in that Test, but in the series as well.

1. 8/15 vs Australia, Trent Bridge, 2015

Of course. 8/15. The spell that still sits somewhere deep in the mind of any Australian who was unfortunate enough to witness it.

The fourth Test of the 2015 Ashes began with England leading 2-1. The hosts thumped Australia in the opening Test, before the visitors handed their own thrashing at Lord’s. England then returned the favour in the third, which meant it was Australia’s turn to respond once again.

However, Broad was having none of it. He made a mockery of Australia’s lineup, picking up a five-for in just 19 deliveries to all-but-confirm the urn’s return to England.

His ability to control length and have the Australians nick off for fun was a feature of that memorable spell. All eight of his wickets were caught in the slips, including the miracle one-hander by Ben Stokes that gave us the iconic Broad reaction.

Stuart Broad can be very proud of what he has achieved. There were many other magnificent spells throughout his excellent career, i.e. against Australia at The Oval in 2009 and South Africa at Headingley in 2012, which makes his shoes very big ones to fill.

Given how well he speaks and his love for the game, here is hoping we’ll see Broad very much involved in cricket media soon after his retirement.

Well played, Stuart.

Steve Smith run out debate – Out or Not Out?

Cricket News: Steve Smith run out debate – Out or Not Out? | Reactions to Steve Smith run out controversy

Australian vice-captain Steve Smith was at the centre of more Ashes controversy, this time on the second day of the fifth Test at The Oval.

Smith, who top-scored with 71 as Australia secured a 12-run lead in the first innings, was nearly adjudged run out before third umpire Nitin Menon decided against the call.

Batting on 42, Smith tried to steal a double after guiding the ball towards mid-wicket. Substitute fielder George Ealham was quick to respond and launched a rocket throw that was collected by wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow.

However, there was a grey margin of doubt with respect to Bairstow having possibly dislodged the bails with his wicket-keeping gloves. Further, the bail was not off both grooves by the time Smith made it to the crease. After careful reptitions, Menon ruled the decision in the batsman’s favour but it surely sparked a debate on Twitter.

Steve Smith run out: Out or not out? Fans debate online

In Favour of The Decision:

Against the Decision:

The home team was bowled out for 283 in the first innings courtesy some impeccable bowling by Mitchell Starc, who scalped four wickets. Australia’s reply kicked off strongly as the team stood at 61/1 at stumps on the opening day of the Test match.

However, England produced a collective bowling effort to keep their lead as minimal as possible and still stand a chance of doing something special with the bat in their second innings. Stuart Broad, Mark Wood, and Joe Root took a couple of wickets each as Chris Woakes chipped in with three dismissals.

James Anderson had a solitary wicket to his name. Australia’s innings found some respite in the lower order with skipper Pat Cummins scoring 36 and spinner Todd Murphy making a valuable contribution of 34 runs. Australia walked into the first innings with a better bowling plan and reaped the results of the same by preventing England from putting up a big score on the board.

It promises to be an excellent day of Test cricket on Saturday with the game beautifully poised.

IND vs WI 2nd ODI Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report

IND vs WI 2nd ODI Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report | IND vs WI 2nd ODI Dream11 Prediction Today | Barbados Pitch Report

The first ODI between West Indies and India told us much of what we already knew. West Indies’ batting couldn’t stand the test against India’s attack, even with a number of first-team players unavailable for various reasons.

And, while there was a fightback with the ball from the hosts, 114 was never going to be enough.

However, the key question for India ahead of a World Cup is what did they learn? Will they be able to use this series to allow their batsmen to gain form, as well as to form partnerships and combinations? For that to happen, the visitors may need to bat first if they win the toss given the likelihood of chasing another small total.

IND vs WI 2nd ODI Possible Playing XIs

West Indies may look to bring in Keacy Carty in place of Rovman Powell. Also, it remains to be seen whether they bring in Alzarri Joseph, who was rested in the first match.

West Indies: 1. Brandon King, 2. Kyle Mayers, 3. Alick Athanaze, 4. Shai Hope (c & wk), 5. Rovman Powell/Keacy Carty, 6. Shimron Hetmyer, 7. Romario Shepherd, 8. Dominic Drakes, 9. Yannic Cariah, 10. Gudakesh Motie, 11. Jayden Seales/Alzarri Joseph/Oshane Thomas

Will India bring Sanju Samson into the XI? His exclusion was a big talking point from the opening ODI.

India: 1. Rohit Sharma (c), 2. Shubman Gill, 3. Virat Kohli, 4. Suryakumar Yadav, 5. Hardik Pandya, 6. Sanju Samson/Ishan Kishan (wk), 7. Ravindra Jadeja, 8. Shardul Thakur, 9. Kuldeep Yadav, 10. Umran Malik, 11. Mukesh Kumar

IND vs WI 2nd ODI Dream11 Prediction – Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

West Indies:

  • Shai Hope has a good record against India. However, he needs support. The captain has struck 920 runs in 23 innings at an average of 46.00.
  • Alick Athanaze is a ray of promise in difficult times for the Windies. He was dismissed soon after finding his feet in the first ODI (22 off 18 balls), where West Indies had a decent start of 45/1 off 7.4 overs.
  • Shimron Hetmyer has a key role to play against India’s left-arm spinners. Jadeja dismissed him in the first match, but Hetmyer has a good record in ODIs against the orthodox spinner: 114 balls, 136 runs, three dismissals.
  • Alzarri Joseph has dismissed Virat Kohli thrice in 68 balls in ODIs (78 runs). He has also dismissed Rohit Sharma thrice, in 61 balls (51 runs).

India:

  • Virat Kohli did not bat in the first ODI. However, we can surely expect time at the crease for Virat this time. He has the most runs in WI-IND ODIs (2,261) at an average of 66.50 and strike rate of 96.95. This includes 11 fifties and nine hundreds.
  • Rohit Sharma has struck 1,613 runs at an average of 57.60 and strike rate of 91.85 in ODIs against West Indies.
  • How Shubman Gill copes with good-length deliveries in the channel will be key. If he gets going, he can build on his excellent ODI record to date: 25 inns, 1,318 runs, avg. 62.76, SR 106.29.
  • Kuldeep Yadav (4/6) was player of the match in the opening ODI. He was far too good for the Windies’ batsmen. Overall, the left-arm chinaman bowler has taken 30 wickets in just 16 innings against West Indies at an average of 21.83.
  • Ravindra Jadeja (44 wickets) is one wicket away from becoming the outright all-time highest wicket-taker in WI-IND ODIs. He averages 28.68 and strikes every 35.06 balls.

Other Stats and Facts

  • India have won the past nine ODIs against West Indies.
  • West Indies have lost their last five bilateral ODI series against all opponents.
  • Shai Hope is 80 away from notching up 1,000 runs in ODIs against India.
  • Kuldeep Yadav has taken 19 wickets in nine ODIs this year. He is averaging 17.
  • Ravindra Jadeja is six scalps away from 200 wickets in ODIs.

Kensington Oval Barbados Pitch Report and Weather

The Barbados pitch had carry and movement for the seamers. Also, spinners found very decent turn. Expect similar pitch conditions in this match, where even a score of 220-230 batting first can be tough to chase.

However, rain may have a say. According to the forecast, there is a 50% chance of precipitation.

Hilarious reactions to Marnus Labuschagne’s 9 (82) at The Oval

Cricket News: Hilarious reactions to Marnus Labuschagne’s 9 (82) at The Oval | Marnus Labuschagne struggles for 82 balls

Marnus Labuschagne, fresh off an excellent century in the second innings at Manchester, worked the hardest he’s ever worked for nine runs. It looked the hardest nine out of his 3,776 Test runs to date, toiling away for 82 deliveries in an attempt to tire England’s pace bowlers out on the second morning at The Oval.

Australia’s number three left more than 40% of the deliveries he faced, including a number that went over his stumps. He and Usman Khawaja, who recently became the first Australian to face 1,000+ balls in a five-match Ashes series in England since 1938, tried their best to repel the England attack in helpful conditions.

However, Labuschagne’s inability to put away some scoring opportunities – particularly half-vollies – came back to hurt him.

One ball he couldn’t leave was snapped up magnificently by Joe Root. What made Root’s catch so special was his late reaction given he may have originally thought wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow would go for it, as it was to his left.

Root kept his eyes on the ball and took argubaly the best catch of the series.

In the era of T20 and Bazball, an innings of 9 (82) when not batting for a draw is always going to come under the spotlight. Here are some of the reactions to Labuschagne’s hard-fought slog.

Cricket News: Usman Khawaja achieves Australian first since 1938 | Usman Khawaja achieves rare feat in England

Usman Khawaja became the first Australian batsman to play over 1,000 deliveries in a five-match Ashes series in England since 1938 as the visitors rounded off the opening day of the fifth Test at 61/1 at The Oval on Thursday.

Khawaja has been in some fine batting form in this series, having scored 403 runs by the end of day one of the fifth Test. He has taken 1036 deliveries for the same and struck a couple of half-centuries along with a ton.

Before day two at The Oval, his average in the 2023 Ashes stood at an impressive 50.37 with the highest score of 141 in the first game in Edgbaston.

Khawaja has really been a revelation at the top of the order for the Australian team in recent times. He was one of the pioneers of their resounding success in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23 cycle, becoming the second highest run-scorer amongst all nations in the two-year-long period.

The southpaw scored 1621 runs in 17 Tests at a terrific average of 64.84 with six centuries and seven half-centuries in Australia’s victorious run. He excelled with the bat in multiple conditions, including in the sub-continent and has thus cemented his place at the top of the order.

His resilience, grit and free-flowing flair have been on a fantastic display in the Ashes as well. Countering England’s flashy Bazball strategy, Khawaja has held on to his trademark technique and bided his time at the crease to play meaningful knocks.

The same was evident on Thursday as well, with the 36-year-old taking 75 deliveries to get to his 26 with four boundaries.

Earlier, Australia bowled out England for 283 and currently trails the home team by 222 runs with nine wickets in hand. Mitchell Starc scalped four wickets as Josh Hazlewood and Todd Murphy contributed with a couple of scalps each.
