WBBL 2020 Match 6: BH-W vs MR-W Preview: Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | BH-W vs MR-W Dream11 Prediction Today | Brisbane Heat vs Melbourne Renegades Key Players | Hurstville Oval Pitch Report

WBBL is up and running and we have already witnessed some great performances. The defending champions Brisbane Heat will take on the Melbourne Renegades in the 6th game of this year’s WBBL.

Brisbane Heat started their 2020 campaign with a dominating 7 wicket-win over the Perth Scorchers. Their bowlers did a great job against a strong Scorchers batting order. Delissa Kimmince and Nicola Hancock picked 2 wickets each, while Amelia Kerr picked one. They chased down the 132 runs very easily with Grace Harris scoring a brilliant fifty off 37 balls with great support from Georgia Redmayne and skipper Jess Jonassen.

Melbourne Renegades’ first game washed out due to rain. They did well with the bowl before the rain interruption, restricting the Stars to 127/4 after 17. Carley Leeson picked 2 wickets while Courtney Neale and Sophie Molineux picked one wicket each. They looked good in the bowling department and it will be exciting to see how their batters perform against the Heat.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • Jess Jonassen has 224 runs against the Renegades, along with 10 wickets. She averages 22.40 with the bat and strikes at 128.70.
  • Sophie Molineux has 193 runs against the Heat, she averages 32.17 against them.
  • Grace Harris scored a brilliant half-century in the last game. She has scored 115 runs against the Renegades with a strike rate of 140.35!
  • Amy Satterthwaite averages 49.50 against the Brisbane side.
  • Georgia Redmayne is in good form recently and scored an unbeaten 37 in the first game.
  • Molly Strano tops the bowler’s list in Renegades vs Heat matches with 21 wickets.
  • Delissa Kimmince (11) has the most wickets for Heat against Renegades.

Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-Head: Matches 11, Renegades 6, and Brisbane 5.
  • These sides like chasing against each other as the Melbourne Renegades have won 4 out of 6 while chasing and Brisbane Heat, on the other hand, have won 3 out 5 while chasing.
  • Brisbane won 2 out of the 3 vs Renegades in the last WBBL.
  • Both teams will play for the first time against each other at Hurstville Oval.

Possible Playing 11

Both sides are expected to go with an unchanged XI from the last game.

Brisbane Heat: 1. Maddy Green, 2. Georgia Redmayne (wk), 3. Jess Jonassen (c), 4. Grace Harris, 5. Laura Harris, 6. Amelia Kerr, 7. Mikayla Hinkley, 8. Delissa Kimmince, 9. Georgia Prestwidge, 10. Courtney Sippel, 11. Nicola Hancock.

Melbourne Renegades: 1. Lizelle Lee, 2. Sophie Molineux, 3. Erin Fazackerley 4. Ammy Satterthwaite (c) 5. Courtney Webb, 6. Georgia Wareham, 7. Joseph Dooley (wk), 8. Maitlan Brown, 9. Carly Leeson, 10. Molly Strano, 11. Courtney Neale.

Hurstville Oval Pitch and Weather Report

Hurstville Oval witnessed a bowler’s friendly wicket in the first game as Hobart Hurricanes got all-out for only 84 against the Adelaide Strikers.

The ball was swinging and the pitch supports the pacers more than the spinners but both have been effective here. You can score runs if you bat well. However, there is some rain forecast and can force interruptions.

WBBL 06 Match 5: MS-W vs ST-W Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | MS-W vs ST-W Dream11 Prediction | Melbourne Stars vs Sydney Thunder Key Players | North Sydney Oval Pitch Report

Cricketing action all over the globe resumed post the Covid-19 enforced lockdown, and so did the Women’s Big Bash League on Sunday but it had a lukewarm start on the opening day in Sydney. Defending champions, Brisbane Heat got off to a winning start defeating Perth Scorchers by 7 wickets and so did the Adelaide Strikers against the Hobart Hurricanes.

But the remaining two matches were washed out due to persistent rain in the city and hence the Melbourne Stars and the Sydney Thunder will both play their first game on Monday, after sharing points in the opening game.

There won’t be much change in the plans of both the teams as they will field the same XI which they planned to do in the first game of the tournament. Melbourne Stars had the opportunity to bat in their game against their city rivals Renegades and posted 127 on the board. However, their innings was abruptly interrupted after 17 overs by the rain. Meg Lanning scored a 50-ball 51, while Du Preez and Sutherland scored 30 odd runs each. On the other hand, the Thunder vs Sixers clash was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

The Stars have been winless against the Sydney Thunder in the last three edition of the WBBL.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

Sydney Thunder:

  • Sammy Jo-Johnson was traded to Thunder from Brisbane Heat. She picked 18 wickets in 16 matches and was a vital cog in the title win last season.
  • Heather Knight: After four seasons with the Hurricanes, Heather Knight will now don the colours of Sydney Thunder. Rachel Haynes will have the company of someone who can be a leader figure on the field and Knight’s role as an opener will be the one to watch out for. Knight has had a superb 2020 in T20I cricket: 13 inns, 486 runs, avg. 40.50, SR 135.75.
  • Rachel Haynes: Haynes has been one of the finest batters in the history of the league and it will be expected to be no different this season. With over 1500 runs for the Thunder, she is the 10th highest run getter in WBBL.
  • Hannah Darlington was the Thunder’s leading wicket-taker in 2019 with 16 at 21.31.

Melbourne Stars:

  • Meg Lanning has returned to the Stars from the Perth Scorchers. She has scored over 2000 runs in the history of this tournament and will be a key as they aim to reach their first semi-final.
  • Natalie Sciver’s allround skills will enhance the chances of Stars in the league and has taken 30 wickets while also scoring 900 runs in the WBBL.
  • Mignon Du Preez is the leading run scorer of Stars in the WBBL history and will be key to their fortunes against the Sydney Thunder side.

WBBL 06 Match 5: MS-W vs ST-W Preview Dream11: Natalie Sciver will be key.

Stats and Facts

  • Head to head: Thunder 7 wins, Stars 2 wins
  • Sydney Thunder has never defeated the Melbourne Stars when batting first.
  • Sydney Thunder have wom their last seven encounters against the Melbourne Stars. The Stars last won in 2016
  • Rachel Haynes is the leading run scorer in the encounter between the two sides with 292 runs to her name.

North Sydney Oval Pitch and Weather Report

135-45 can be a par total on the track and pacers can play a key role in the encounter. Rain will be around in Sydney once again, and could interrupt this game.

Possible Playing 11

Melbourne Stars: 1. Meg Lanning (c & wk), 2. Elyse Villani, 3. Mignon du Preez, 4. Natalie Sciver, 5. Annabel Sutherland, 6. Erin Osborne, 7. Tess Flintoff, 8. Nicole Faltum, 9. Sophie Day, 10. Holly Ferling, 11. Rosemary Mair

IPL 2020 Match 45: RR vs MI Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report

IPL 2020 Match 45: RR vs MI Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | RR vs MI Dream11 Prediction Today | Rajasthan Royals vs Mumbai Indians Key Players | Abu Dhabi Pitch Report

Both Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians will be keen for a win at Abu Dhabi on Sunday, but for different reasons. For the up-and-down Royals, a win will keep their playoff hopes alive, as they play both KKR and KXIP in their final two games. For MI, the four-time IPL champions, a win here will all-but-seal a top two finish, given their remarkable net run rate of +1.448.

There is an argument to suggest that MI are playing even better cricket than in their Title-winning season in 2019. They have won all their games pretty comfortably, with their latest being an almighty thumping of Chennai Super Kings by 10 wickets on Friday. Incredibly, their only two defeats since their opening day loss to CSK have been in Super Overs, and the most successful IPL side will be looking to continue the momentum.

Things aren’t as royal for the Royals. After 11 games, they are still yet to find their perfect batting combinations, with Ben Stokes yet to justify his move to opener. So, a swap with Jos Buttler – who has an excellent record vs MI – could be the answer, with Stokes, or even David Miller, to slot into the middle order. Indeed, the time is now for RR to produce the goods, as time is running out.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • As mentioned, Jos Buttler has a terrific record for RR against MI. He has struck 259 runs against them at an average of 86.33, with a strike rate of 175. Crucial player today.
  • RR should be batting Buttler at opener. In 31 IPL knocks at opener, Buttler has struck 1,179 runs at an average of 40.66 and SR 157.41. In other positions (4, 5, 6), Buttler has hit 478 runs at an average of 25.15.
  • Quinton de Kock is in rare form. After a slow start to IPL 2020, de Kock has hit 67, 23, 53, 78*, 53 and 46* in his last six innings at a strike rate of 150.
  • If Rohit Sharma sits out this game as well, MI have a capable replacement in Ishan Kishan. The left-hander is coming off a dominant 68* off 37 balls last game vs CSK.
  • Suryakumar Yadav smashed 79* (47) vs Royals on this ground a few weeks ago. Yadav has scored 239 runs for MI at an average of 59.75 at a strike rate of 142.26.
  • The battle between the MI top order and Jofra Archer will be key. Archer has taken 10 wickets in five games vs MI, but RR rely too much on the fast bowler. If MI see him out with no damage, they can capitalise on the other bowlers.
  • Sanju Samson has had a disappointing season given the amazing start he made (113 runs in last eight knocks). RR desperately needs Samson to perform here. He has the most runs of any player in RR-MI matches, with 431 runs at an average of 33.15 (SR 143.19).
  • Can Hardik Pandya play a big role in this game? He strikes at 177.94 in five games vs RR (121 runs, avg. 40.33). His partner in crime, Kieron Pollard, doesn’t have his best record vs RR (351 runs, avg. 25.07, SR 138.19), but has not been dismissed in IPL 2020 since the opening game against CSK (SR 200).
  • A lot depends on Steve Smith, too. The RR skipper has had an up-and-down tournament, but one can back him to perform well today as he has a solid record vs MI (avg. 46.4 – his best average against any team).
  • How good was Trent Boult against CSK? He is coming off 4/18, has 16 wickets in IPL 2020, and will be a big threat again today given RR’s batting troubles in the powerplay overs.
  • His pace partner, Jasprit Bumrah, will also be key. The Indian star has 17 wickets in 10 matches in IPL 2020, including 4/20 vs RR earlier this season. Also, Bumrah has 10 wickets in his last five games, and has gone at under seven an over in each of those games.
  • Rahul Chahar has bowled beautifully at Abu Dhabi this season: 1/36, 2/26, 2/26, 1/24, 0/27 and 2/18.
  • Shreyas Gopal has not had the tournament expected of him (seven wickets in 11 games), but took 2/28 vs MI earlier this season.

Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 24, RR 11, MI 12, 1 abandoned.
  • Before this season, RR had won the past four games against MI. But, MI bounced back earlier this season, beating RR comfortably.
  • Rahul Tewatia will be key for RR. He has hit 224 runs in 10 innings in IPL 2020, at an average of 44.80 and SR 143.58.
  • Jofra Archer has taken one-third (15) of RR’s 45 wickets this season. Incredibly, 11 of those wickets have been top three batsmen.
  • Ben Stokes has scored 110 runs in 103 balls as opener in IPL 2020, without a six.
  • Shreyas Gopal to Quinton de Kock? Gopal has bowled 28 balls to de Kock, conceding just 18 runs with one dismissal.
  • Mumbai Indians have won their past five games at Abu Dhabi, after losing to CSK in the tournament’s first match.

Possible Playing 11

Rajasthan Royals: 1. Robin Uthappa, 2. Jos Buttler, 3. Sanju Samson (wk), 4. Steve Smith (c), 5. Ben Stokes/David Miller, 6. Riyan Parag, 7. Rahul Tewatia, 8. Jofra Archer, 9. Shreyas Gopal, 10. Ankit Rajpoot, 11. Kartik Tyagi

Abu Dhabi Pitch and Weather Report

The chasing team has won four of the last six games at Abu Dhabi. KKR had success yesterday batting first, but that was a day game with no dew. MI has had success in setting a score (three wins out of four) and chasing a score (two wins out of two) on this ground in IPL 2020, which makes this game a real challenge for RR.

IPL 2020 Qualification Scenarios: What does each team need to do?

IPL 2020 Qualification Scenarios: Who will qualify & miss out? | IPL 2020 Qualification Scenarios? Who has to win what to qualify for the playoffs?

The business end of the league stage of the IPL 2020 nears as the competition between the teams for a spot in the playoffs heats up. All teams have played a minimum of 12 matches, and a number of scenarios remain possible. The defending champions Mumbai Indians lead with 16 points, followed by Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore on 14 points.

MI’s NRR of +1.186 means that they are all-but-confirmed to play in the playoffs this season. Also, one win out of their last two would officially sew up a top two finish.

The mid-table muddle is between four sides at the moment with Kings XI Punjab placed at 4th spot at 12 points, courtesy of their superb run of five straight wins. Kolkata Knight Riders are also on 12 points, but have a terrible net run rate of -0.479, which means that they will need to win their last two games to give themselves a stronger chance of making the playoffs.

We try to figure out what could be the possible qualification scenarios for all seven sides, below.

IPL 2020 Qualification Scenarios: Who will qualify & miss out? | IPL 2020 Qualification Scenarios? Who has to win what to qualify for the playoffs?
IPL 2020 Qualification Scenarios: So many possibilities

Mumbai Indians

Games: 12, Points: 16, NRR: +1.186

With 16 points from 12 games so far, and a very strong net run rate, MI’s place in the playoffs is all but confirmed. They need one more win to sew up a top two spot.

Remaining fixtures: DC, SRH

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Games: 12, Points: 14, NRR: +0.048

Royal Challengers Bangalore have lost two games in a row, and need a pick up in form. Their performance vs CSK last weekend was flat, and they couldn’t get over the line against MI. So, their next game against SRH will be a vital one, as a win will go a very long way to sealing a playoffs spot. If they lose that match, then their last game against DC could be must-win to qualify as KXIP, KKR, SRH and RR are all in the hunt.

Remaining fixtures: SRH and DC

Delhi Capitals

Games: 12, Points: 14, NRR: +0.03

Like RCB, Delhi Capitals have fallen away a little. They have suffered two defeats in a row, both of which have been thumpings (59 runs vs KKR and 88 runs vs SRH). So, all of a sudden, after looking comfortable, DC are in shaky territory. They have two tough and crucial games remaining (MI and RCB) and need to win at least one (and ensure they don’t lose too heavily if they do) to qualify.

Remaining fixtures: MI and RCB

Kings XI Punjab

Games: 12, Points: 12, NRR: -0.049

Incredible turnaround. KXIP are the favourites according to many for the fourth spot, after a superb run of five straight wins. This turnaround is quite remarkable, after starting their season on a horrid note, winning just one of their first seven games to languish at the bottom of the table.

But having won their last five matches, including a miracle win over SRH and wins vs all top three teams, KXIP are looking more confident and settled. The next game against RR is crucial, as their destiny is pretty much in their hands now given their better net run rate compared to KKR.

Remaining fixtures: RR, CSK

Kolkata Knight Riders

Games: 12, Points: 12, NR: -0.479

KKR’s terrible net run rate could cost them. They have underperformed somewhat in IPL 2020 given the talent at their disposal. So, given their net run rate, they must beat CSK on 29 October to get back into the top four. If they lose, then they will be hoping that Kings XI Punjab loses their game vs Rajasthan Royals on 30 October so that KKR stay level with KXIP. If that happens, though, RR will move above KKR, with KKR and RR going head-to-head in their final league match.

Remaining fixtures: CSK, RR

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Games: 12, Points: 10, NRR: +0.396

What a performance against DC. Sunrisers Hyderabad threw caution to the wind, smashing 219/2 to eventually win by 88 runs. Their net run rate is second-best to Mumbai Indians, which could count for plenty.

However, SRH will need to win their last two games and hope KXIP and KKR win a maximum of one each. This is because RR play both KXIP and KKR, and if RR win both those matches, they will finish on 14 points. If KKR and KXIP win one match each, both will finish on 14. If SRH only win one of their last two, they will finish on 12.

Remaining fixtures: RCB, MI

Rajasthan Royals

Games: 12, Points: 10, NRR: -0.505

Five teams could finish on 14 points. If RR win their last two games (after a superb Stokes-led win vs MI), they will finish on 14 points. Should KXIP and KKR both beat CSK but lose to RR, then they will finish on 14. If SRH beat MI and RCB, they too will finish on 14. If DC lose their last two, they will finish on 14. Same applies to RCB. So, the focus for RR would be to beat KXIP and KKR to put the pressure on the likes of SRH, MI and DC in their final games. Their net run rate of -0.505 could be a serious issue, though.

Remaining fixtures: KXIP, KKR

Chennai Super Kings

Eliminated.

5 Reasons Why RCB Have Enjoyed Greater Success in 2020

5 Reasons Why RCB Have Enjoyed Greater Success in 2020 | 5 reasons why Royal Challengers Bangalore have been better in IPL 2020

The IPL has been a super competitive league over the years. Despite providing tough contests and fighting hard, some teams are yet to lift the trophy. One of those teams is the high-profile Bangalore based franchise, the Royal Challengers Bangalore. They always promise a lot, but somehow fail to maximize their potential.

But, contrary to this, RCB have done a fabulous job so far this season by winning seven out of 10 games; as a result of which they are currently placed at the 2nd position in the points table and look all set to qualify for the playoffs. What are the reasons for this major turnaround? Let’s find out.

1. Smartness of the Team Management during the Auction

Embed from Getty Images

In IPL 2019, RCB finished bottom in the points table. So, there were clear issues with them.

You always have to address your problems first in order to solve those. RCB management rightly identified their areas of concerns and hence they were able to go for right players during the auction. They picked a proper opener in Aaron Finch, so that Virat could bat at 3, which ultimately increases the depth of their batting. They were aware of their death bowling woes and therefore they picked Chris Morris who has brilliant numbers bowling at the death overs in the recent past and he adds value with the bat too. They bought Isuru Udana, whose variations could be handy on the two-paced decks of the UAE. When Richardson opted himself out, they picked an extra leggie Adam Zampa, which was a smart buy in my opinion. This shows the smartness of the RCB management lead by Hesson and Katich, who definitely have the ideas to succeed.

2. Success of the Opening Pair

5 Reasons Why RCB Have Enjoyed Greater Success in 2020 | 5 reasons why Royal Challengers Bangalore have been better in IPL 2020 | Will RCB win IPL 2020? | Reasons why RCB have performed so well this season
Devdutt Padikkal has fit right into RCB’s system in 2020.

A team always needs a good start from their openers, which plays a vital role in posting a good total while batting first as well as providing a strong base while chasing. If a solid start is provided by the openers, the other batters can play their natural game freely.

If I consider the stats, the average opening partnership of RCB openers in the season 2019 was just 28.78 runs, compared to a healthy 40.5 runs this season so far. Further, it extends to a brilliant 49.28 runs in the seven games they have won. So, the opening pair of Devdutt and Finch has worked well for RCB. Also, they had tried four different opening pairs in the 2019 season, but they have found a settled opening pair at the top this year, which certainly has stabilized their batting order.

3. Excellent death bowling after the return of Chris Morris

5 Reasons Why RCB Have Enjoyed Greater Success in 2020 | 5 reasons why Royal Challengers Bangalore have been better in IPL 2020 | Will RCB win IPL 2020? | Reasons why RCB have performed so well this season
Chris Morris has been a superb addition to RCB in IPL 2020.

If I have to say what the most phenomenal improvement of the current RCB team is, then it has to be their bowling in the final five overs in the past five games, i.e. overs 15-20.

We all know their first choice death overs specialist Chris Morris didn’t start the season owing to some injury issues. But after his comeback to the playing XI, Morris has done tremendously well. The bowling unit of RCB without Morris conceded almost 13 runs per over in the death overs in the first five matches. After the comeback of Morris, they have an exceptional economy of 7.96 at the death. Morris himself has bowled beyond excellence as his figures of 8-0-51-7 at the death suggests. His dot ball percentage is a mind blowing 43.75 in this phase. No wonder why RCB have won four out of five games after the return of Chris Morris.

4. Useful contributions from young Indian Players

5 Reasons Why RCB Have Enjoyed Greater Success in 2020 | 5 reasons why Royal Challengers Bangalore have been better in IPL 2020 | Will RCB win IPL 2020? | Reasons why RCB have performed so well this season
Washington Sundar has played a key role in the success of RCB in IPL 2020

As a side is allowed to pick at most four overseas players in a playing XI, they have to possess a good Indian core of players to succeed in the tournament.

In IPL 2020, RCB certainly have got some serious support from their Indian youngsters Devdutt Padikkal, Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar and Mohammed Siraj. Padikkal has impressed everyone in his very first IPL season. The southpaw has scored 298 runs at a great average of 42.57 in the seven games RCB have won, with three half centuries. Thus, he has provided a solid base alongside Aaron Finch as I have mentioned earlier, which has given the license to Kohli and ABD to play their natural game.

Similarly, Dube has been far better than he was in 2019 and has had his moments as he bowled really well in the game against SRH (3-0-15-2) and played a superb cameo of 27 runs off just 10 balls against MI, which was a really crucial contribution in my opinion. Had he not scored these runs, MI would definitely have chased the total as they went on to tie the game.

Sundar has done a great job with the ball by picking six wickets an outstanding overall economy of 5.61 (contrary to 9.6 in 2018 and 8.22 in 2019) bowling 33 overs so far. He has been used really well in the powerplay by Virat Kohli and has proved himself as his figures of 10-0-51-3 with an exceptional dot-ball percentage of 51.66 in that phase.

Another surprise package has been Mohammed Siraj. Often being ridiculed for his poor economy, Siraj has definitely looked developed as a bowler this year. He has developed his subtle skills and has overall figures of 14-2-110-6; a good economy of 7.86 this year contrary to 9.22, 8.95 and 9.55 in 2017, 2018 and 2019 respectively. He played a major role in the victory of RCB in their latest face off versus KKR, in which he derailed the KKR top order with a magnificent opening spell. These contributions from the youngsters have been a big positive for RCB this year.

5. Superhuman ABD, King Kohli and Magical Chahal

Kohli and de Villiers have been excellent in 2020.

Although RCB have got considerable support from their openers, Indian youngsters and Chris Morris, their top three trump cards have sparkled their brilliance as they do almost in every season.

ABD has played great hands as their best finisher in the games against SRH (51 off 30), MI (55 off 24), KKR (73 off 33), RR (55 off 22). I assure you, RCB couldn’t have won 7 out of 10 without these priceless contributions. He still is the biggest match winner for RCB with the bat and the way he smashed bowlers like Bumrah and Archer so easily, it was just incredible.

Virat although looked a bit rusty in their initial games, controlled the chase superbly against RR at Abu Dhabi. But, his matured knock against CSK was something extraordinary. He settled the nerves when RCB were struggling in the initial overs and went berserk in the last few overs to remain unbeaten at 90 off 52, which ensured a great finish for RCB and they defended the total successfully.

And what else can I say about Yuzi Chahal? Currently placed at number five in the list of highest wicket takers this season with 15 wickets, Chahal has been the main weapon for RCB. He has provided the important breakthroughs whenever required and thus has proved himself to be the trump card of his team yet again.

Concluding the article, I applaud the way Virat has led the side this time around. His bowling changes and tactics on the field have worked, and he has led from the front with the bat too. RCB are surely looking determined and I won’t be surprised at all if the sentence ‘Ee Sala cup namde’ becomes a reality for RCB in 2020!

IPL 2020 Match 44: RCB vs CSK Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report

IPL 2020 Match 44: RCB vs CSK Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | RCB vs CSK Dream11 Prediction Today | Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Chennai Super Kings Key Players | Dubai Pitch Report

Even with the unpredictabilities of IPL 2020, anything other than a convincing Royal Challengers Bangalore victory would be a surprise. Indeed, it is quite the turn of events in 2020, as the roles are usually reversed between these two sides, particularly over the past couple of seasons.

But it has been a terrific season to date for Virat Kohli’s men. While the skipper himself and AB de Villiers have been excellent with the bat, it has been their bowling which has improved leaps and bounds compared to previous seasons. After the likes of Chris Morris, Yuzvendra Chahal and Washington Sundar have produced consistent performances, Mohammad Siraj then burst onto the scene last time out with a record-breaking spell against KKR. Now, courtesy of DC’s defeat to KKR yesterday and before MI’s game vs RR, RCB can move into top spot with just three games remaining after this one.

If the bowlers can maintain their consistency, one can back them to be too good for Chennai Super Kings. CSK’s last two performances, especially the horror show against Mumbai Indians, all-but-confirmed that this CSK team is focused on next season and beyond. Skipper MS Dhoni confirmed this, with the last three games to have a focus on the future. So, the big question is whether the experienced players, along with the talented and fighting Sam Curran, will be up for the fight against an in-form team.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • Virat Kohli was the star against CSK earlier this season, striking a superb 90* off 52 balls. Incredibly, he hit just four fours and four sixes in his innings, which is testament to his running between the wickets. On a big Dubai ground and slow pitch, Kohli will be key again.
  • Kohli has the most runs in RCB-CSK matches, with 851 at an average of 40.52.
  • MS Dhoni is next on the list with 716 at an average of 39.78. However, Dhoni’s lack of impact this season has really hurt CSK.
  • CSK is one of AB de Villiers‘ least-favourite opponents. In fact, ABD was out for a duck against them earlier this season, and averages 20.24 in 17 matches against them.
  • However, there is no better time than now for ABD to improve that record. CSK is struggling, and de Villiers is enjoying an excellent season so far: 9 inns, 285 runs, avg, 57.00, SR 190.00.
  • Devdutt Padikkal has made plenty of starts in recent times, with scores of 33, 32, 18, 35 and 25 in his last five games. He hasn’t been at his free-flowing best, but if he can set a platform for the likes of Kohli and de Villiers, then it’s job well done.
  • A lot depends on Faf du Plessis and Ambati Rayudu to lead the way for CSK with the bat. du Plessis is still in the top five run-scorers in the tournament, with 376 runs at an average of 41.77.
  • Watch out for Chris Morris. The South African all-rounder has been a superb addition for RCB, with nine wickets in five games at an economy rate of just five. He took 3/19 against CSK earlier this season.
  • Can Mohammad Siraj (3/8 vs KKR) find some early swing to cause carnage for CSK? CSK were reduced to 3-4 against MI, so keep an eye out on the RCB opening bowlers as they look to cause some damage.
  • Yuzvendra Chahal has taken the equal fifth-most wickets so far in IPL 2020 (15 in 10 matches). Also, Chahal has performed pretty well at Dubai this season, with figures of 3/18, 1/25, 1/48, 0/29, 1/35 and 2/34.
  • Sam Curran played a lone hand vs MI last time out, with a fighting half-century. CSK’s “complete cricketer” has been a shining light in their tough tournament (10 wickets, 173 runs).
  • Ravindra Jadeja has struggled with the ball in IPL 2020 (four wickets in 11 games). It is with the bat where he has made the highest contribution (128 runs in last six innings, two dismissals, SR 175.34).
  • Imran Tahir has taken six wickets in three games for CSK vs RCB.

Stats and Facts

  • Matches 26, RCB 9, CSK 15.
  • RCB (169/4) beat CSK (132/8) by 37 runs earlier in IPL 2020.
  • All CSK batsmen, other than MS Dhoni (avg. 42, SR 147), strike at less than 100 vs Yuzvendra Chahal.
  • AB de Villiers is 58 runs away from 9,000 in T20s.
  • RCB have won four out of six games at Dubai in 2020. CSK, on the other hand, have lost three out of five.

Possible Playing 11

Dubai Pitch and Weather Report

The team batting first has won 13 of 19 games at Dubai in 2020. However, the chasing team is starting to have greater success, with four wins in the past five games as more dew sets in. But, the surface is slowing down, which was on show yesterday as KXIP defended 126 vs SRH in remarkable fashion.

WBBL 2020 Match 3: ST-W vs SS-W Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | WBBL06 Match 3: ST-W vs SS-W Dream11 Prediction Today | Sydney Thunder vs Sydney Sixers Key Players | Hurstville Oval Sydney Pitch Report

Sydney Sixers is arguably the most successful side in WBBL history. They have finished in the top four times in five seasons, winning the title twice and being the runners-up twice. Players like Elyse Perry, Alyssa Healy, Ashleigh Gardner, Marizanne Kapp, Dane van Niekerk, etc. are the reason for their consistent performance. These are the top performers in women’s cricket and with them in the squad, the Sixers are expected to be one of the top teams in this season too.

However, they finished 5th last season which is their worst performance so far in the tournament. So, eyes will be on their key players, as well as their star all-rounder Elyse Perry who is returning from a hamstring injury.

The inaugural WBBL champions, Sydney Thunder, went through a transition period last season and are looking good this time. They won the first season and have reached the semi-finals twice and have finished at the 6th position twice. They have roped in some very good players in the side this time. Sammy Jo-Johnson, Heather Knight, Tammy Beaumont, Lauren Smith are proven performers in WBBL and Women’s international cricket.

They have strengthened their batting which caused their downfall last season and also has some very promising young talent in the squad. They have a very strong squad this season and can give some very tough time to the opponents in WBBL 06.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • Elyse Perry (364 runs), has the most runs and at the highest average of 36.40 in the Sydney derby. Plus, she scored 469 runs last season at an average of 93.80 in nine games.
  • Alyssa Healy is the second-highest run-scorer in Sixers vs Thunder matches with 292 runs. She strikes at 128.07 and averages 26.55 against the Thunder.
  • Ashleigh Gardner has 283 runs at an average of 31.44 striking at 134.12 against Sydney Thunder.
  • Rachel Haynes has 171 runs against the Sixers. She is in red hot form. She scored 222 runs in three games against the White Ferns two weeks ago.
  • 17-year old Phoebe Litchfield is primed for a big season. The great talent was having an excellent 2020 for NSW before the pandemic halted cricket (scores of 44, 82*, 1, 44, 43*).
  • Heather Knight has had a superb year in T20 cricket to date: 13 inns, 486 runs, avg. 40.50, SR 135.75.
  • Sammy Jo-Johnson has 90 runs striking at 160.71 against Sixers and she has picked eight wickets against them.
  • Marizanne Kapp will be very important for the Sixers. She has 98 runs and has picked 13 wickets against the Thunder.
  • Sarah Aley (13 wickets) has the most wickets in the Sydney Derby.
  • Hannah Darlington was the Thunder’s leading wicket-taker in 2019 with 16 at 21.31.

Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-Head: 11 Matches, 6 Sixers, 5 Thunder.
  • Thunder have never won against the Sixers when they have batted first. All their five wins against them have come when chasing.
  • The Sixers have won only once while chasing against the Thunder.
  • Sixers have won all three games at the North Sydney Oval.
  • The Sixers won both the games against the Sydney Thunders last season.

Possible Playing 11

Earlier in 2020, Ellyse Perry said she was willing to miss the start of the new international season to ensure her hamstring is as strong as possible. She is now determined to play as an all-rounder in WBBL, but it remains to be seen if she bowls right away.

Sydney Sixers: 1. Alyssa Healy (wk), 2. Erin Burns, 3. Ashleigh Gardener, 4. Ellyse Perry (c), 5. Dane van Niekerk, 6. Marizanne Kapp, 7. Lisa Griffith, 8. Lauren Cheatle, 9. Jodie Hicks, 10. Stella Campbell, 11. Sarah Aley

Sydney Thunder: 1. Rachael Haynes (c), 2. Tammy Beaumont (wk), 3. Heather Knight, 4. Phoebe Litchfield, 5. Anika Learoyd, 6. Tahlia Wilson, 7. Hannah Darlington, 8. Sammy-Jo Johnson, 9. Lauren Smith, 10. Samantha Bates, 11. Shabnim Ismail

North Sydney Oval Pitch and Weather Report

This will be the second match on this ground on Sunday, after Perth Scorchers and Brisbane Heat do battle.

The average first innings score at this ground in WBBL 2019 was 143, with the chasing team winning three out of four times. Following the tournament, Australia played Sri Lanka in T20Is on this ground, with some high scores made (217 and 226 by Australia).

The weather forecast, however, looks a little iffy with rain around.

IPL 2020 Match 43: KXIP vs SRH Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report

IPL 2020 Match 43: KXIP vs SRH Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | KXIP vs SRH Dream11 Prediction Today | Kings XI Punjab vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Key Players | Dubai Pitch Report

How quickly things can change. Three games ago, Kings XI Punjab were stuck on the bottom of the IPL 2020 points table, with seemingly no way back. Along with a 69-run thumping at the hands of today’s opponents, KXIP blew three victories in their first seven games, and it looked like it would be another season of disappointment.

Fast forward a week-and-a-half later, and KXIP could find themselves in the top four if they win here and KKR lose against Delhi Capitals. The addition of Chris Gayle has transformed KXIP’s fortunes, with the T20 legend providing the all-important stability after the openers, which was missing earlier in the season. So, can KXIP hold their nerve with the playoffs a possibility?

So, strap yourselves in, because Sunrisers Hyderabad could also find themselves in the top four by the end of the day. Their win last time out against Rajasthan Royals was as encouraging as it was dominant, given that both David Warner and Jonny Bairstow, who are crucial to SRH’s hopes, failed in the chase of 150+. Manish Pandey again highlighted his talent, while Vijay Shankar spent important time at the crease.

Can SRH keep KXIP’s lineup quiet and outperform them with the bat themselves?

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • Jonny Bairstow smashed 97 (55) vs KXIP 16 days ago at Dubai. SRH will be hoping he can produce something similar today in a crunch game.
  • David Warner has the most runs in SRH vs KXIP matches, with 626 at a superb average of 69.56. He scored 52 (44) against KXIP earlier this season.
  • KL Rahul continues to hold the 2020 Orange Cap (540 runs, avg. 67.50, SR 135.67), but needs to be wary of the fast-approaching Shikhar Dhawan. Despite the fact he scored just 11 (16) vs SRH earlier this season, he still possesses a good record for KXIP against SRH: 5 inns, 211 runs, avg. 52.75.
  • Will Mayank Agarwal return to his best form today after scores of 11 and 5 in his last two games? With Chris Gayle in the lineup, Agarwal and Rahul can play with freedom. The “Universe Boss” has struck 53 (45), 24 (21) and 29 (13) in his three games in IPL 2020 so far.
  • Manish Pandey is coming off a dominant 89* (44) last game vs RR. When playing for SRH, Pandey has scored 167 runs in five matches vs KXIP (avg. 41.75).
  • Nicholas Pooran was outstanding against SRH earlier this season. He played the lone hand (77 off 37 balls) in a team score of 132.
  • Is this the game where Glenn Maxwell takes off? The Aussie all-rounder has had a sub-par tournament, but his 32 (24) last game vs DC might spark some renewed form.
  • It was a great start for Jason Holder in IPL 2020. He marked the start of his campaign by taking 3/33 last game vs RR.
  • Mohammed Shami is having a good tournament with the ball, headlined by his ability to defend five runs in the first Super Over against Mumbai Indians last weekend. The Indian seamer has 16 wickets in 10 matches this season.
  • Rashid Khan took 3/12 vs KXIP earlier this season, part of an incredible 14 wickets in seven games against KXIP. The Afghan star is still conceding below six runs an over (5.47) in IPL 2020, with 12 wickets in 10 matches.
  • Ravi Bishnoi has bowled well at Dubai this season: 1/22, 3/32, 0/33, 3/29 (vs SRH), 1/12, 0/24.
  • Can yorker specialist T Natarajan bounce back after a poor outing last game vs RR (0/42)?

IPL 2020 Match 43: KXIP vs SRH Preview Dream11: Chris Gayle has been terrific in IPL 2020

Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-Head: Matches 15, KXIP 4, SRH 11.
  • Sunrisers Hyderabad (201/6) thrashed Kings XI Punjab (132) on October 8 at Dubai. However, KXIP look to have turned a corner.
  • Should SRH keep Rashid Khan away from Chris Gayle? Gayle averages 57.7 and strikes at 201 against legspin in IPL. But, Rashid has dismissed three times in 45 balls in T20s, although he has gone for 79 runs. Interesting battle.
  • SRH could look at employing Rashid Khan early to KL Rahul. Rashid has dismissed Rahul twice in four T20s, conceding just 16 runs in 24 balls in the process.
  • Nicholas Pooran has hit the most sixes so far in IPL 2020 (22).

Possible Playing 11

Kings XI Punjab: 1. KL Rahul (c & wk), 2. Mayank Agarwal, 3. Chris Gayle, 4. Nicholas Pooran, 5. Glenn Maxwell, 6. Deepak Hooda, 7. James Neesham, 8. M Ashwin, 9. Ravi Bishnoi, 10. Mohammed Shami, 11. Arshdeep Singh

Sunrisers Hyderabad: 1. David Warner (c), 2. Jonny Bairstow (wk), 3. Manish Pandey, 4. Vijay Shankar, 5. Priyam Garg, 6. Abdul Samad, 7. Jason Holder, 8. Rashid Khan, 9. Shahbaz Nadeem, 10. Sandeep Sharma, 11. T Natarajan

Dubai Pitch and Weather Report

Teams batting first have won 12 of 18 matches at Dubai in IPL 2020. However, the chasing team has won the past four matches here. Given that dew is playing a factor given the weather has cooled down, the captain who wins the toss could look to chase.

Super Over, anyone? This has the potential to be another cracking game between two evenly-matched teams. But, this one could come down to whoever chases, and whether the team bowling first can restrict their opponent to below 160-170.

IPL 2020 Match 42: KKR vs DC Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report

IPL 2020 Match 42: KKR vs DC Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | KKR vs DC Dream11 Prediction Today | Kolkata Knight Riders vs Delhi Capitals Key Players | Abu Dhabi Pitch Report

Kolkata Knight Riders sit in the playoffs spots, but have their performances suggested that they are a top four side?

Let’s paint a picture.

Out of their five wins to date, three of those (vs KXIP, SRH and CSK) they had no business in winning. They looked gone, and pulled a rabbit out the hat. In their five losses, they have lost heavily in four of them, resulting in the worst net run rate of any team in the tournament (-0.828). So, what can we make of KKR? Are they too inconsistent to make the playoffs? Can they recover from an awful batting performance vs RCB?

These questions and more will be answered somewhat today against Delhi Capitals. The high-flying Capitals have overcome a number of injury concerns throughout the campaign so far, and have the chance to regain top spot with a win today. Shreyas Iyer’s men will be looking to make their own bounce back after a loss to Kings XI Punjab, which is important as defeat here will put their top two aim at risk, as well as put them just four points ahead of fifth place with three games remaining as SRH and KXIP do battle after this game.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • Shikhar Dhawan has hit two unbeaten centuries in a row, after two consecutive half-centuries, to catapult to second place in the Orange Cap race (69*, 57, 101*, 106*).
  • Dhawan hits a half-century every four innings on average vs KKR (six in 24 innings), at an overall average of 29.65 (682 runs). He struck 97* against them last season.
  • Incredibly, Dhawan averages 84.75 against pace in IPL 2020, so KKR could look to open with Varun Chakravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav or Sunil Narine (if fit). Narine has 20 wickets in 15 games vs Delhi (avg. 18.25, SR 6.64).
  • Shreyas Iyer smashed 88* (38) vs KKR at Sharjah earlier this season. Can he produce a strong knock at Abu Dhabi today? The DC captain has made a double-figure score in all 10 games of IPL 2020, so the question is whether he can build on those starts.
  • KKR’s up-and-down middle order means that a lot rests on Shubman Gill to provide a platform. Like Iyer, Gill has made plenty of starts in IPL 2020, with eight double-figure scores in his 10 games (with six scores above 25, two fifties), so KKR need him to carry on today if he gets in.
  • Nitish Rana struck 58 (35) vs DC earlier this season. Eoin Morgan, the new KKR skipper, has a key role to play today. He struck 44 (18) vs DC in their earlier meeting in IPL 2020.
  • Prithvi Shaw is enduring a poor run of form (4, 0, 0 and 7 in his past four innings). However, today could be the day he rediscovers his form as he has a good record vs KKR, with three fifties in four innings against them (4 inns, 241 runs, avg. 60.25, SR 163.95).
  • Dinesh Karthik has had his problems against wristspin in IPL 2020 (18 balls, 14 runs, five dismissals). So, if DC don’t play a wristspinner in their starting XI, Karthik could benefit. Time for DC to play Praveen Dubey?
  • His opposite number, Rishabh Pant, has made scores of 31, 37*, 28, 38, 37, 5 and 14 in IPL 2020. His only single-figure score was a run-out, so DC will want him to build on his starts,
  • The brilliant Kagiso Rabada is showing no signs of slowing down. He is the Purple Cap holder with 21 wickets in 10 games in IPL 2020, and has taken 46 wickets in 22 matches since the start of IPL 2019. Also, he has taken 2/21 and 2/28 in his two games at Abu Dhabi this season.
  • His battle with Lockie Ferguson will be as intriguing as it is impactful. All of a sudden, the Kiwi speedster is arguably KKR’s most important bowler, after leading KKR to a win vs SRH (3/15 and two Super Over wickets). Also, he bowled well in tough circumstances vs RCB (1/17).
  • Anrich Nortje, who was rested last game vs KXIP, could return today. The Proteas’ fast bowler has had a superb tournament so far (12 wickets in nine games), and took 3/33 vs KKR earlier this season.

Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 26, KKR 13, DC 12, 1 abandoned match.
  • Delhi Capitals have won their past four matches against Kolkata Knight Riders.
  • Shikhar Dhawan has scored 58.22% of DC’s runs in their past two matches.
  • Andre Russell has a good head-to-head record vs DC, but is in doubt with a hamstring problem. In nine games against them, he has smashed 227 runs at a SR of 195.89 (avg. 32.43), along with 13 wickets.
  • Kuldeep Yadav has a decent record vs Dhawan in T20s (37 balls, 34 runs, two wickets). He also has a good record vs Pant in T20s (21 balls, 23 balls, two wickets).
  • Interestingly, DC have not won a game at Abu Dhabi so far in IPL 2020 (two attempts).
  • Rabada and Nortje to dominate the powerplay? KKR have the worst scoring rate at this stage (6.73), and have not finished the powerplay wicketless at all in IPL 2020. DC have taken 17 wickets at this stage, at a SR of 21.18.

Possible Playing 11

Tushar Deshpande had a poor outing against KXIP (two overs for 41 runs). So, given the problems that KKR’s middle order has against legspin, DC could look to bring in Praveen Dubey.

Delhi Capitals: 1. Prithvi Shaw, 2. Shikhar Dhawan, 3. Shreyas Iyer (c), 4. Rishabh Pant (wk), 5. Marcus Stoinis, 6. Shimron Hetmyer, 7. Axar Patel, 8. R Ashwin, 9. Kagiso Rabada, 10. Anrich Nortje, 11. Tushar Deshpande/Praveen Dubey

Sunil Narine reportedly has a niggle and Andre Russell’s hamstring injury is one to watch.

Kolkata Knight Riders: 1. Shubman Gill, 2. Rahul Tripathi, 3. Nitish Rana, 4. Eoin Morgan (c), 5. Dinesh Karthik (wk), 6. Andre Russell/Tom Banton/Sunil Narine, 7. Pat Cummins, 8. Lockie Ferguson, 9. Prasidh Krishna, 10. Varun Chakravarthy, 11. Kuldeep Yadav

Abu Dhabi Pitch and Weather Report

The chasing team has won four of the last five games at Abu Dhabi. However, given that this is a day game, the team that wins the toss could look to bat on a slowish pitch as there will be no dew in the second innings. Also, both teams enjoy defending scores more: four of KKR’s five wins have come batting first in IPL 2020, and out of DC’s seven wins, six have come when batting first.

KKR’s fortunes could ultimately depend on if one of the star West Indian players can play and perform. Overall, though, Delhi Capitals are in much better form and look more settled. DC to win.

Around the globe, cricket is slowly but steadily returning back to normalcy as the biggest T20 league in women’s cricket, the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) is all set to begin on Sunday, 25th October, with four matches on the very first day of the league.

The opening match will be played between the 2-time defending champions Brisbane Heat who will lock horns with the Perth Scorchers who finished at the 3rd place last season.

The Brisbane Heat team are chasing a hattrick of titles but this season they have their own set of challenges. The title winning skipper Kirby Short has retired and she will be replaced by Jess Jonassen at the helm. Among the key players, Sammy Jo-Johnson and Beth Mooney have left the franchise and will be playing for Sydney Thunder and Perth Scorchers respectively. Georgia Redmayne will be keeping for the defending champions this season as the gloves are up of grabs with Mooney’s departure.

On the other hand, the Perth Scorchers too have had significant number of changes in their line-up with the addition of Mooney and Sophie Devine strengthening the squad. They will be glad with wrist spinner Sarah Glenn’s arrival but they have lost Meg Lanning to the Melbourne Stars.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • Sophie Devine, the leading run scorer of the last season of the WBBL, switched sides from Adelaide Strikers to the Perth Scorchers in the pre-season trade. Devine scored 769 runs at an average of 76 and striking at 130 in WBBL 05.
  • Sarah Glenn, the English leg-spinner has picked 22 wickets in T20I career so far (15 games) and will be playing in the WBBL for the first time. She was roped in by the Perth Scorchers.
  • Beth Mooney will ply her trade for the Perth Scorchers in the upcoming season and will face her former side in the first game itself. She was an integral part of the title win of the Heat in the last couple of seasons, and scored 743 runs in 2019.
  • Grace Harris had a below par season in WBBL 05, with the bat as well as the ball, according to her standards but she will be looking to bounce back with a bang in this season. Her batting position will be an interesting point of discussion for the team.
  • Jess Jonaseen took 18 wickets last season as she led the Heat to the title. The all-rounder can contribute with the bat and has already scored 1378 runs in her WBBL career. Also, Jonassen has taken 19 wickets in 14 T20Is in 2020.
  • Amelia Kerr, the White ferns star, can be one of the key players for the Heat with bat and ball. The star all-rounder took nine wickets in her last five games against Australia a few weeks ago (ODIs and T20Is).

North Sydney Oval Pitch and Weather Report

North Sydney Oval is typically a nice batting ground, with a good pitch and short boundaries on offer. Given that the whole tournament will be played in one city (Sydney), the groundstaff could look at keeping some grass on the pitch to be able to handle the amount of traffic that will be on it in the coming weeks.

The average first innings score at this ground in WBBL 2019 was 143, with the chasing team winning three out of four times. Following the tournament, Australia played Sri Lanka in T20Is on this ground, with some high scores made (217 and 226 by Australia).

Match Prediction

Brisbane Heat have performed well over the years vs Scorchers, but the addition of Beth Mooney and Sophie Devine in the Scorchers team makes them a dangerous team. If those two can fire and lead the way, Scorchers look good for a win.
