IPL Auction 2020: 5 Players MI Can Target for IPL 2020

IPL Auction 2020: 5 Players MI Can Target for IPL 2020 | How could the MI squad look like for IPL 2020 season? | 5 Players Mumbai Indians can buy for IPL 2020

This article is part of an IPL Auction series, where we explore each team! Have a look at who the seven other teams could buy:

IPL defending champions Mumbai Indians has a very balanced squad with all boxes checked. It was very, very difficult to find five players that will make an impact for MI in IPL 2020.

But, after much deliberation, here we are with the top five players Mumbai can buy in this auction:

5. Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvu Jaiswal is a hard-hitting batsman. He is the youngest to score a double hundred in List-A cricket, doing so at the age of 17. He scored 203 runs from 154 balls, which included 140 runs in boundaries (17 fours and 12 sixes)!

Mumbai can look to buy him as a backup for their Indian batsmen as this young man has the potential and is a star in the making.

4. Virat Singh

The current form of Ishan Kishan is quite poor, which is a concern for MI. They can add Virat Singh as a backup for him. Virat plays for Jharkhand; the same team Ishan plays for in the domestic matches. He is also a left-hander and has scored 343 runs from 10 matches with an average of 57.

To go with his batting, he can bowl some leg-spin, too. He is the perfect backup for Ishan Kishan.

3. Pankaj Jaiswal

Hardik Pandya suffered a back injury during the Asia Cup last year and was stretched off from the field. He had further complications this year, but is now recovering well and training. However, MI can look for someone as a backup, in case.

Now, not many of you may have heard of Pankaj Jaiswal. He is an explosive all-rounder who plays for Himachal Pradesh. Made his name after scoring the second-fastest half-century in Ranji Trophy, scoring 63 off just 20 balls which included four fours and seven sixes against Goa in 2017. He bats with a whopping strike rate of 193.4 in T20s in 37 matches and has also bagged 55 wickets in the same no. of matches played.

Although he has been released by Mumbai this year, but he can be a good backup for Pandya seeing his hitting abilities and that too they can have him very cheaply.

2. Chris Green

Chris is one of the most underrated T20 bowlers. He is a genuine wicket-taker in powerplays and can take wickets in bulk. MI often employ an extra spinner on slow wickets, which is where Green can come in. He is a right-arm offie and with him included, MI will have all kinds of spinners in their squad.

Also, he is a handy batsman down the order. Overall, he can be a great asset for the men in royal blue.

IPL Auction 2020: 5 Players MI Can Target for IPL 2020 | How could the MI squad look like for IPL 2020 season? | 5 Players Mumbai Indians can buy for IPL 2020

1. Tom Banton

Tom Banton made his name after being the second highest run-scorer in the recently concluded English T20 Blast. He is an explosive T20 opener and performed exceptionally well in the T10 League, too. With Ewin Lewis now traded from MI, he is the perfect replacement for him.

MI and CSK also enquired about his availability from Somerset and that shows that Mumbai might look to pick him.

6 Underrated Bowlers in Test Cricket 2019/20

6 Underrated Bowlers in Test Cricket 2019/20 | 6 Underrated Bowlers in the World Right Now | Most Underrated Bowlers in Cricket

Test cricket is blessed with some fantastic, exciting pace bowlers. Australia’s Pat Cummins, India’s Jasprit Bumrah, South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada and England’s Jofra Archer headline this excitement among cricket fans across the globe.

However, there are bowlers that don’t quite get the mention they deserve in the Test bowling conversation. This article will explore six underrated bowlers in Test cricket, talking not only to their records, but also what they offer their respective teams.

6. Mohammad Abbas (Pakistan)

High pace gets fans and commentators excited, and journalists and bloggers typing away at incredible speeds.

Batsmen? Well, they are often quaking in their boots.

However, skill is just as important, and Mohammad Abbas has it in spades. Barely 130km/h, Abbas has made a superb impact in Test cricket. Focused on impeccable line and length, Abbas has succeeded in conditions ranging from England to the UAE, currently boasting 75 wickets at an average of 20.76.

Despite his slower pace, it would be a disservice to exclude Abbas from the pace bowling conversation.

Mohammad Abbas is a treat to watch at his best.

5. Jason Holder (West Indies)

Looking at the bowling rankings, Holder sits in third. So, the question might be “how is he underrated?”

Similar to Abbas, Holder doesn’t possess the pace others do. So, he doesn’t often come to mind in the pace bowling conversation. However, Holder’s rise in the past few years has been remarkable, using his height to great effect.

At the end of West Indies’ first Test in the UAE in October 2016, his bowling average had risen to 49.69. Since then, he has averaged 20.65, bringing his overall average down to 27.26. Better, he has 10 wickets in two Tests in India in that time; a place where opposition pace bowlers often struggle.

4. Kemar Roach (West Indies)

Kemar Roach’s overseas numbers (average 37.60) often works against him. However, it needs to be remembered that injuries and issues in Windies’ cricket have not helped.

Roach’s record of 193 wickets in 56 Tests at 27.13 is nothing to be scoffed at. More, he has taken 71 wickets at an average of 21.28 since August 2017, which is better than the likes of James Anderson and Trent Boult over the same period.

3. Mohammed Shami (India)

India fans know just how good this guy is. However, does the rest of the world know, too?

Mohammed Shami has played a key role in India’s pace bowling revolution of the past few years. He has averaged less than 27 in each of the past four years, including a superb haul of 33 wickets at 16.66 in 2019. Even more impressive is his magnificent second innings record (88 wickets at 21.98), in situations where spinners are expected to cause the damage.

He is a fantastic bowler.

2. Tim Southee (New Zealand)

It is incredible that some people still question why Tim Southee is in New Zealand’s team. Sure, he has lost some pace, but we have all lost count of the number of times he has chipped in with crucial wickets.

6 Underrated Bowlers in Test Cricket 2019/20 | 6 Underrated Bowlers in the World Right Now | Most Underrated Bowlers in Cricket
6 underrated Test bowlers: Tim Southee is underrated by many.

As recently as November 2019, Southee initiated an England collapse that got New Zealand into the game. A few months earlier, he delivered a superb spell in the subcontinent; in a must win game against Sri Lanka. With 256 Test wickets at under 30, it is time more give Southee the credit he deserves.

Harsh…
More harsh!
Southee has been an excellent bowler for New Zealand

1. Neil Wagner

As of May 2020, Neil Wagner is ranked second among Test bowlers in the world.

When you think of New Zealand bowlers, the aesthetic Trent Boult comes to mind. However, Wagner, a bowler around 130km/h, has an incredible ability to hurry batsmen. His value to the New Zealand team cannot be understated, and is indeed a key reason why they sit second in the Test rankings.

He will get something out of any pitch. He will run in all day. Among all pace bowlers since his debut, no one has bowled more unbroken spells of 10 overs or more. Incredibly, 34.67% of his deliveries are bowled in unbroken spells of seven overs or more. His strike rate of 52 puts him in the top 20 of all time. Like Southee, the number of crucial wickets for his team are in abundance.

In December and January 2019/20, Australia and rest of the cricketing world realised just how fantastic Wagner is. He bowled with his heart and soul in difficult circumstances, finishing with 17 wickets at 22.76 in three Tests. He picked up both Steve Smith and David Warner four times each in the series.

A superb competitor.

AUS vs PAK 2nd Test Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report

AUS vs PAK 2nd Test Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | AUS vs PAK 2nd Test Prediction Today | Australia vs Pakistan 2nd Test Dream11 Prediction

For all their unpredictability, their seemed to be an eerie predictability about Pakistan in Brisbane: Controversial selections, periods of good batting followed by collapses, and loose bowling.

However, positives emerged in the wreckage of an innings defeat; most notably Babar Azam’s breakthrough away ton, along with resistance from Asad Shafiq and Muhammad Rizwan.

Australia enjoyed the perfect start to the home Test summer. The bowlers led the way with persistence and focus, never losing their cool in warm conditions and a good batting track. And, somewhat inevitably, David Warner marked his return home in familiar fashion, along with Marnus Labuschagne building on his fine Ashes series in the best way.

With India so far ahead in the World Test Championship, Australia need to keep the pace.

Key to an Australia win

Overcast skies, pink ball and a drier Adelaide track is on the menu. So, movement in the air and off the pitch, particularly under lights, will be what the Aussie pace trio will be after. So, if conditions are good for batting during the day, it is important the Australians produce a repeat of Brisbane.

Babar Azam is the man they are after. However, Shan Masood’s resistance is something they’d like to break early, as well as Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq and Muhammad Rizwan. With Pakistan showing the capability of losing quick wickets, the onus is on Australia to get the better of their best players.

Also, Steve Smith will be out for runs after a rare failure; so rare that he finished the lowest scorer in Australia’s batting effort in Brisbane. With the likes of Warner, Burns and Labuschagne in excellent touch at home, Australia’s top four can bat Pakistan out of the game.

AUS vs PAK 2nd Test: Smith to win battle vs Yasir Shah?

Key to a Pakistan win

To compete, Pakistan need more runs. Their score of 240 in Brisbane, after surviving the first session, was disappointing. So, Pakistan must put together effective partnerships consecutively to build a strong total, avoiding the loss of wickets in clumps and exposing Yasir Shah too soon.

Shan Masood and Azhar Ali showed enough in Brisbane to be positive about. As did Babar, Asad Shafiq and Muhammad Rizwan. Can Pakistan come together as a batting unit and produce the goods across two innings?

Also, building pressure with the ball is key. The expected selection of Mohammad Abbas will help with that, given his relentless line and length. Plus, his ability to move the ball could be profound with the pink ball, which calls for effective support from his teammates. Can Pakistan get the better of Australia’s top four?

AUS vs PAK 1st Test: Abbas will be key.

Possible Playing 11

Australia are likely to stick with the same team that won the first Test.

Australia: 1. David Warner, 2. Joe Burns, 3. Marnus Labuschagne, 4. Steve Smith, 5. Travis Head, 6. Matthew Wade, 7. Tim Paine (c & wk), 8. Pat Cummins, 9. Mitchell Starc, 10. Nathan Lyon, 11. Josh Hazlewood

Pakistan will make changes. Imam-ul-Haq is set to return as opener, with Azhar Ali to move to three. Haris Sohail will miss out. Also, Mohammad Abbas is set to play in place of Imran Khan, and Muhammad Musa a chance to come in for Naseem Shah, who is likely to be rested.

Pakistan: 1. Shan Masood, 2. Imam-ul-Haq, 3. Azhar Ali, 4. Asad Shafiq, 5. Babar Azam, 6. Muhammad Rizwan (wk), 7. Iftikhar Ahmed, 8. Yasir Shah, 9. Shaheen Shah Afridi, 10. Muhammad Musa, 11. Mohammad Abbas

Pitch and Conditions

A dry pitch is expected in Adelaide, which brings Nathan Lyon and Yasir Shah into the game, even with the pink ball. But, some showers are predicted right throughout the Test.

Stats and Facts

  • Australia have won 13 consecutive Tests vs Pakistan at home.
  • David Warner and Steve Smith both average in excess of 50 at the Adelaide Oval.
  • Nathan Lyon enjoys Adelaide: 8 Tests, 45 wickets, average: 26.04.
  • Mitchell Starc (22 wickets at 19) and Josh Hazlewood (22 wickets at 20) also enjoy bowling at the ground.
  • Top four wicket-takers in day/night Tests: Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Yasir Shah and Nathan Lyon.
  • Top three run-scorers in day/night Tests: Azhar Ali, Steve Smith and Asad Shafiq.

NZ vs ENG 2nd Test Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report

NZ vs ENG 2nd Test Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | NZ vs ENG 2nd Test Prediction Today | New Zealand vs England 2nd Test Dream11

Brilliant New Zealand.

After all, who could be surprised at their fantastic effort in the first Test? They have been outstanding in Test cricket over the past three years, somewhat debunking the view that rankings don’t always provide an accurate representation of the best teams.

An accurate view of England, however, remains their struggles overseas. This time, they had the pace and aggression of Jofra Archer. A new look batting lineup. The confidence of a good Ashes campaign; bar the presence of Steve Smith, who many believe is the best since Bradman.

However, for the fifth time in three years, England lost an overseas Test by an innings after scoring over 345 in their first dig. With the Hamilton track expected to provide more assistance than Mount Maunganui, it is down to Joe Root and his bowlers to lead the way to salvage the series.

Key to a New Zealand win

There will be no Trent Boult for New Zealand. However, their effort without him on the final day in Mount Maunganui highlighted New Zealand’s depth and quality. The superb Neil Wagner, wily Tim Southee and likely inclusion Matt Henry will have key roles to play, given that Colin de Grandhomme, crucial in the first Test, will also be out.

Also, it must be a great feeling to have BJ Watling to fall back on when in a sticky situation. The best Test keeper-batsman in the world was at it again in Mount Maunganui, after the top order flattered to deceive a little. Indeed, this is an area for New Zealand to improve, particularly against a potentially-tired attack, led by Latham, Williamson and Taylor.

NZ vs ENG 2nd Test Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | NZ vs ENG 2nd Test Prediction Today | New Zealand vs England 2nd Test Dream11
NZ vs ENG 2nd Test Preview Dream11: BJ Watling is a superb cricketer.

Key to an England win

The Kookaburra ball is England’s biggest enemy. Perhaps an even bigger enemy than Australia. Their 201-over stay in the field brought back memories of their struggles overseas in the past few years, with the seamers in particular unable to provide impact with the Kookaburra ball.

Stuart Broad was ineffective. Jofra Archer toiled for over 40 overs. Sam Curran needs to find movement in the air. Also, with such a short turnaround between Tests, Jack Leach might have a crucial role to play in holding up an end, so the seamers can be rotated.

So, Joe Root needs to manage his bowlers well. Along with producing more with the bat. His average as captain has crept below 40, with 2019 itself yielding a paltry average of 28. For a player of his class, Root needs to deliver more, along with the rest of the batting lineup that gave away a number of starts in Mount Maunganui.

NZ vs ENG 2nd Test Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | NZ vs ENG 2nd Test Prediction Today | New Zealand vs England 2nd Test Dream11
NZ vs ENG 2nd Test Preview Dream11: Joe Root is under pressure.

Possible Playing 11

Colin de Grandhomme and Trent Boult have been ruled out. Daryl Mitchell and Matt Henry could line up. Mitchell has been in good touch, scoring 170* for Northern District last month.

New Zealand: 1. Jeet Raval, 2. Tom Latham, 3. Kane Williamson (c), 4. Ross Taylor, 5. Henry Nicholls, 6. Daryl Mitchell, 7. BJ Watling (wk), 8. Mitchell Santner, 9. Tim Southee, 10. Matt Henry, 11. Neil Wagner

England were forced to do plenty of work in the field in the last Test. To create further headaches, Jos Buttler hurt his back in the gym, rendering him doubtful.

England: 1. Rory Burns, 2. Dominic Sibley, 3. Joe Denly, 4. Joe Root (c), 5. Ben Stokes, 6. Ollie Pope, 7. Jos Buttler (wk), 8. Sam Curran, 9. Jack Leach, 10. Jofra Archer, 11. Stuart Broad

Pitch and Conditions

There is a chance of showers throughout the Test, including the first morning. In regards to the pitch, George Dobell, England’s ESPNCricinfo Correspondent, has been providing updates.

The track has a green tinge to it. There is a good chance the team who wins the toss will bowl first, as that is when the most movement can be extracted. Like often the case in New Zealand, the wicket can flatten out on days two, three and four.

Stats and Facts

  • England are still without a Test win in New Zealand since 2008.
  • Ross Taylor (908 runs at 50.44) and Kane Williamson (879 at 73.25) love Seddon Park.
  • Tim Southee has taken 44 wickets at 21.45 at Hamilton. Neil Wagner also enjoys the ground, boasting 28 wickets at 24.78.
  • Joe Root in Tests 2019: 10 matches, 548 runs, average: 27.40.
  • New Zealand have won five of their past six Tests at Hamilton.

Can England take 20 wickets? Moreover, can their batting cope under significant pressure?

The answer to both questions looks to be no. While they have talent in their ranks, New Zealand look mighty strong at home. Provided the weather holds, the Black Caps are a good bet for a win.

AFG vs WI Test Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report

AFG vs WI Test Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | AFG vs WI Test Prediction Today. Afghanistan vs West Indies Test Dream11 Prediction | Who will win?

After both teams battled it out over six limited overs matches, attention turns to the game’s most traditional format.

Afghanistan enter the series off a superb 2-1 T20I series win. Since their landmark Test win in Bangladesh, the Afghans struggled for consistency in white-ball cricket, which left them in need of a confidence boost. They got it, but now need to shift their focus to the long format in an attempt to get their third victory in four Tests.

West Indies also need a boost. Their form against subcontinent teams over the past 12 months has not been good. Whether it is the pace of Jasprit Bumrah or the effective spinners of Bangladesh and India away, the Windies have struggled for answers. It is time to rectify that with a strong performance in Lucknow.

Key to an Afghanistan win

Rashid Khan tore Bangladesh to shreds in their last outing. However, the patience and application of their batsmen was also a significant positive from a great result.

Ibrahim Zadran, Rahmat Shah and Asghar Afghan set the platform. The middle and lower order built on it with quicker scoring. Against a West Indies side that will bank on accurate bowling, more of the same is needed by Afghanistan.

However, you need 20 wickets to win a Test. Can the Afghan spinners display the patience and accuracy to get the better of the Windies’ batting? They were excellent in the Test against Bangladesh, but the Windies possess more patient players that can provide greater resistance.

AFG vs WI Test Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | AFG vs WI Test Prediction Today. Afghanistan vs West Indies Test Dream11 Prediction | Who will win?
AFG vs WI Test Preview Dream11: Rashid Khan will be key.

Key to a West Indies win

Tours of India and Bangladesh in 2018 were cause of pain for West Indies. Four heavy defeats in four Tests raised further questions about their credentials in foreign conditions. Here, they have the chance to make steps in the right direction.

It starts with their batting. The patience of Kraigg Brathwaite, Shai Hope, Sunil Ambris and Roston Chase needs to come to the fore. Afghanistan will be after wickets, but the Windies need to be solid in snuffing them out. Can they do it in both innings?

Also, the role of Rakheem Cornwall will be of importance. Impressive at times in his debut against India, Cornwall will be out to use his height to his advantage in India, along with the seamers, led by Kemar Roach and Jason Holder, who will also be vital in unsettling Afghanistan. Also, Jomel Warrican had a superb tour game, so could be an important figure.

AFG vs WI Test Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | AFG vs WI Test Prediction Today. Afghanistan vs West Indies Test Dream11 Prediction | Who will win?
AFG vs WI Test Preview Dream11: Can Holder inspire the Windies?

Possible Playing 11

Mohammad Nabi has retired from Tests, so Afghanistan have questions regarding the makeup of their team. Ihsanullah retired hurt in the tour match, so it remains to be seen if he’s fit.

Afghanistan: 1. Ibrahim Zadran, 2. Javed Ahmadi, 3. Ihsanullah, 4. Rahmat Shah, 5. Asghar Afghan, 6. Afsar Zazai (wk), 7. Karim Janat, 8. Rashid Khan (c), 9. Yamin Ahmadzi, 10. Qais Ahmed, 11. Amir Hamza/Zahir Khan

Also read: IPL 2020 coverage

West Indies will look to go with a balance between pace (usually their strength) and spin (needed for these conditions). However, Rakheem Cornwall had an ice-pack to his knee after the tour match. His availability will be decided on matchday. Also, John Campbell has a stomach bug and is in doubt.

West Indies: 1. Kraigg Brathwaite, 2. John Campbell/Sunil Ambris, 3. Shamarh Brooks, 4. Shai Hope, 5. Shimron Hetmyer, 6. Roston Chase, 7. Shane Dowrich (wk), 8. Jason Holder (c), 9. Rakheem Cornwall, 10. Kemar Roach, 11. Jomel Warrican

Pitch and Conditions

The Lucknow track was on the slower side in the ODIs and T20Is. The same should be expected in this Test, with the track to assist spinners more as the Test wears on.

In regards to the weather, all days should be fine except for Thursday, where there is a chance of showers.

Stats and Facts

  • Afghanistan have won two of their first three Tests. No team in history has ever achieved three wins in their first four Tests.
  • West Indies have lost their past six away Tests. Worse, they have lost their past eight Tests in Asia.
  • Rashid Khan took a match-winning 11 wickets in his last Test.
  • In a low-scoring tour match, Sunil Ambris and Roston Chase played well for the Windies. Also, Jomel Warrican and Rakheem Cornwall combined for nine wickets in the first dig.
  • Amir Hamza took eight wickets in the tour match.

IPL Auction 2020: 5 Players KXIP Can Target for IPL 2020

IPL Auction 2020: 5 Players KXIP Can Target for IPL 2020 | How could the KXIP squad look like for IPL 2020 season? | 5 Players Kings XI Punjab can Buy for IPL 2020

This article is part of an IPL Auction series, where we explore each team. Also check out the players CSK, DC, SRH, KKR, RR and RCB could look at buying!

Kings XI Punjab are known for changing their squad in every auction. Also, they are known for starting campaigns well, only to fade away badly. This time, with the highest purse available, they can add some big names to their team.

With R Ashwin now released with David Miller, they need quality to replace them; someone who can take over the captaincy duties and also perform well.

Here, we look at five players who they can go for this auction:

5. Varun Chakravarthy

The highest-paid player last season. That too from KXIP. Punjab can go for Varun Chakravarthy again considering their spin attack; they have only one quality spinner in Mujeeb. Krishnappa Gowtham and Murugun Ashwin are there but they don’t bring that quality – the mystery spinner Chakravarthy has some great numbers in domestic matches.

Punjab can go for a specialist spinner in Varun again, after they recently released him.

4. David Willey

David Willey can be a good choice for Punjab considering their need for a finisher and death bowler. In addition to his capable bowling, he bats with a very high strike rate in T20s. With K. Gowtham already there, KXIP can have a fine batting combination in the slog overs.

3. Glenn Maxwell

Glenn Maxwell can fix all their problems in the batting order. He bats very aggressively and can bowl some overs, too. More, he is an excellent fielder. KXIP might have to go in a bidding war against other franchises; but considering their purse, they have a very good chance to get Maxwell.

2. Chris Jordan

KXIP lacks a specialist fast bowler to go with Shami. With Mitchell Starc opting out of the IPL Auction, Chris Jordan is a great option, as he is known for his death-bowling. The pacer from England is a genuine wicket-taker and is in amazing form, too.

1. Eoin Morgan

After releasing Ashwin and Miller, the Kings from Punjab need someone to lead their side, as well as play the finisher role. Eoin Morgan is the answer to that. The English skipper is a destructive batsman who plays spin well and can send the ball miles in the death overs. He is a World Cup winning captain, and who knows, he might lead KXIP to their first IPL Title.

1. No Dukes, No Worries

David Warner played his first home Test in almost two years. He looked a man free from any worry with the Kookaburra ball often flying off the middle of his bat, unlike the Ashes series where you’d miss his time at the crease if you went for a short bathroom break.

Warner may sledge and throw the odd swear word here and there, but he and The Royal Family are so similar. No Dukes, No Worries! @benjonescricket has arguably won the internet this past week.

2. Bradman who?

Unfortunately, they are his bowling totals. Hilarious stuff from @150pluskph!

3. Absolute genius

Pakistan have limited Steve Smith’s impact beautifully. He wasn’t required to bat in the recent third T20I. In Brisbane, he wasn’t needed until the score was 351.

Pakistan’s management wouldn’t be happy with @IBM1105 letting out their secret plan!

4. Big contribution!

Haris Sohail was never going to escape the wrath that is Twitter. His identical dismissals for low scores was meme material.

@syedsmart21 didn’t disappoint.

5. Tigers, pls…

Bangladesh were rolled for 150 in the first Test of their two-Test abomination against India. So, fans didn’t hope for a repeat.

Bangladesh obliged. Except this time they were rolled for 106. Funny sign and thanks to @being_pranav_ for sharing. Not all heroes wear capes.

6. “I might talk to her”

Instead of talking to the girl, you make this face. @_Mubean_ paints an accurate picture! Great caption.

7. The key secret

Ishant Sharma is a bowler reborn. His last 2-3 years have been superb.

However, there is some deliberation as to the cause of this. Some think it’s because he’s pitched the ball up fuller; others think it’s because of the strong support around him.

@Jeetv27 provides the most obvious but brilliant secret: He can see.

8. Bangladesh…

Batsmen were coming in and out as if the Eden Gardens pitch with alarming regularity.

Unfortunately for Bangladesh, their physio probably did spend more time on the field than their batsmen who were dismissed… Too good from @peeyushsharmaa.

9. Nah, don’t like the Day/Night stuff

Last month, Bangladeshi cricketers, led by Shakib Al Hasan, took a stand against the board. Now, they are taking a stand against Day/Night Test cricket.

Thanks to @atishub for giving us this insight. #Respect

10. Am I a joke to you?

Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, with 411 Test wickets between them at home, bowled just seven overs combined in India’s huge win in the second Test.

Magnificent use of a famous meme by @magniificent.

11. “That’s not how you do it”

BCCI’s Twitter account is some of the most awful social media activity you’d see. While the likes of cricket.com.au and England Cricket show us superb replays on Twitter, BCCI shows celebrations, hugs and guys walking. Hilarious from @CricCrazyNIKS!

12. Ouch

https://twitter.com/pull_playlist/status/1198421407799005184?s=20

So much savagery. @pull_playlist needs to be stopped!

Kidding. Keep the England jokes coming.

13. NOISE

Twitter was always going to in hard on Sanjay Manjrekar when he rubbished Harsha Bhogle’s claims on the pink ball in commentary.

A meme so accurate. Thanks for expressing our thoughts, @GirirajwanSwetha.

14. “You must be kidding me”

Rohit’s catch brought out the memes. Saha’s catch, also in front of Kohli, brought out this one from @djaywalebabu. Superb!

15. PEAK CONTENT

https://twitter.com/ethan_meldrum/status/1198811939062734848?s=20

Arguably saving best till last here. Step aside Bag Raiders, we have the proper Shooting Stars video. This is absolutely outstanding from @ethan_meldrum. Peak content. A tweet worthy of saving and locking away, to come back to it whenever we need a lift.

Jos Buttler might avoid it, though…

IPL 2020 Auction: 5 Players DC Can Target for IPL 2020

5 Players that DC can go for in the IPL 2020 Auction | How could the DC squad look like for IPL 2020 season? | 5 Players Delhi Capitals can Buy for IPL 2020

This article is part of an IPL Auction series, where we explore each team. Also check out the players CSK, SRH, KKR, KXIP, RR and RCB could look at buying!

Delhi Capitals released nine players, including the surprise release of Chris Morris. They traded in Ajinkya Rahane, which has the potential to mess up their batting order with Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw already in the squad, along with Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant.

So, DC will head into the IPL 2020 Auction with the challenges to fix their batting order and create a good squad. Here are five players they can go for to fix their problems:

5. Varun Chakravarthy

The most expensive buy of last season, Varun Charkravarthy, played just one match and then missed the rest of the campaign due to injury. He is now available for selection after being released by KXIP. DC can go for him as a backup for Amit Mishra, as the mystery spinner has some great numbers in domestic games.

Varun Chakravarthy: Effective for DC?

4. Heinrich Klaasen

Delhi tried Colin Ingram last season in the middle order, which didn’t prove too successful. So, after releasing him this year, DC can go for Heinrich Klaasen as his replacement. Klaasen bats very aggressively and also plays spin well; needed on the sluggish pitch of Delhi. Klaasen also didn’t get enough exposure in the RCB side due to their star top order and can make his name if plays for the Delhi side.

Henrich Klaasen could be effective for DC.

3. Dale Steyn

Delhi Capitals need someone to accompany Kagiso Rabada. Dale Steyn, released by RCB, can be the perfect choice. He can bowl with new ball, at the death and is a proven match winner. He can be a good asset for Delhi.

Dale Steyn could have plenty to offer.

2. Colin de Grandhomme

After releasing Morris, DC need someone to fill his boots. Colin de Grandhomme can be a good choice. Although he doesn’t bowl as quickly as Morris, de Grandhomme can be key in accelerating the scoring rate, especially with Ajinkya Rahane in the team. He can finish the innings on a high for DC, along with the likes of Rishabh Pant and Keemo Paul.

1. Chris Morris

The biggest problem for Delhi Capitals is to maintain a balance between their batting and bowling after releasing Chris Morris. They have a few players but they don’t bring the quality Morris did. So the perfect choice for them this auction is to go for Chris Morris again.

It’s a bit difficult but they may get for him for a lower price, which would be a win-win situation. We all know how capable Morris is with both bat and ball. Indeed, Delhi need his services for at least this season.

IPL 2020 Auction: 5 Players RR Can Target for IPL 2020

Rajasthan Royals, a team that can go to another level, have made a number of releases. After the release of 11 players, including their star Indian player Ajinkya Rahane, the Royals are also looking to rebuild their squad like a few other teams in the tournament.

Here are five players they can target in the auction who can help them lift the trophy for second time:

5. Colin Munro

It is very difficult for an overseas player to find their place in RR’s XI with the likes Captain Steve Smith, Jofra Archer, Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes present in the team. However, someone might have to leave the tournament midway or potentially get injured.

In that case, Colin Munro is a great choice for them. The dangerous Kiwi opener has 3 T20I centuries to his name which shows how destructive he can be if given an opportunity.

Colin Munro: A great fit for RR?

4. Marcus Stoinis

Despite the difficulty for overseas players to fit in Rajasthan’s XI, they can also look to Marcus Stoinis as a backup player. The Australian all-rounder can hit the ball long in the lower middle order and has knack of taking wickets. His all-round abilities can make him a good choice for Rajasthan.

3. Mohit Sharma

Although RR have Ankit Rajpoot and Varun Aaron in their pace attack, they are a bit expensive in the death overs. So they can go for Mohit Sharma to go with Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer in this period. Mohit has been performing well and has the variations which is needed the death overs.

Mohit Sharma was a good servant for CSK.

2. Pankaj Jaiswal

Not many of you have heard of Pankaj Jaiswal. He is an explosive all-rounder who plays for Himachal Pradesh. Made his name after scoring the 2nd fastest Half-Century in Ranji Trophy, scoring 63 off just 20 balls which includes four fours and four sixes against Goa in 2017. He bats with a whopping strike rate of 193.4 in T20s in 37 matches and has also bagged 55 wickets in the same number of matches played.

With him being released by Mumbai this year, he can be an excellent choice for Rajasthan, along with Stokes in the all-rounder department.

Pankaj Jaiswal can be a great value-for-money purchase by RR.

1. Rahul Tripathi

Released by the Royals this year itself, Rahul Tripathi, can be a key player for Rajasthan. With Rahane now released and the opening slot empty, he can be the perfect replacement for him. He plays very aggressively on the top and has scored 391 runs including a high score of 93 opening for Rising Pune Supergiants in his debut season in 2017. Despite releasing him, Rajasthan can think of bringing him back in their squad.

IND vs BAN 2nd Test Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report

IND vs BAN 2nd Test Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | IND vs BAN 2nd Test Prediction Today | India vs Bangladesh 2nd Test Dream11 Prediction

The first day/night Test in India. Rightly, it has provided much of the talking points, given the historic occasion on hand at Eden Gardens.

After all, what would we talk about if it wasn’t a day/night Test? India, so incredibly dominant in Indore, surely caused Bangladesh skipper Mominul Haque to age years in the space of days. There was no competitiveness whatsoever in the first Test, so will the historic day/night Test only be remembered because of a pink ball and lights? Or will the cricket be memorable, too?

Bangladesh, and the neutral, would certainly be hoping for the latter.

Key to an India win

The 11 day/night Tests to date has seen plenty of instances where the ball moves prodigiously under lights. India’s seam-trio, so prolific in Indore, will be out to cause more nightmares via seam movement and swing.

Ishant, Umesh and Shami never let the Bangladeshis settle. Expect that to remain the case. By ripping through the top order, Bangladesh’s middle order is left with nothing more than some pride to obtain. India, dominant and ruthless, have quick wickets in their sights again.

Also, it can be seen as a plus that India amassed nearly 500 despite the failures of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Mayank Agarwal has made his opportunity count, and if he and the Indian top order can grind Bangladesh down, easy runs could then be on offer. With a middle/late order that can score quickly, India will be eyeing another big total.

IND vs BAN 2nd Test Preview Dream11: Agarwal to go big again?

Key to a Bangladesh win

Wouldn’t this be something?

Bowled out for 150, the Tigers thought bowling first may have been the answer in Indore. However, tighter techniques and greater patience is indeed the right approach. With movement expected, can the Bangladeshi top order hold their own a lot better than at Indore? What platform can the likes of Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah get?

Also, Bangladesh’s bowling was just as toothless. Only Ebadot Hossain went for less than four runs per over, with the attack leaking runs uncontrollably. Taking their chances (cough, Imrul Kayes) will be crucial, as well as taking advantage of any movement on offer. Can they get the better of India’s top order stars, and then this time carry on with the job? To compete, Bangladesh must be consistent for longer periods.

IND vs BAN 2nd Test Preview Dream11: Mominul and Mushfiqur need to deliver.

Possible Playing 11

India are looking settled. Expect them to stick with the same team.

India: 1. Mayank Agarwal, 2. Rohit Sharma, 3. Cheteshwar Pujara, 4. Virat Kohli (c), 5. Ajinkya Rahane, 6. Ravindra Jadeja, 7. Wriddhiman Saha (wk), 8. Ravichandran Ashwin, 9. Umesh Yadav, 10. Ishant Sharma, 11. Mohammed Shami

Bangladesh are not so settled. Their openers struggled, and this stemmed down to even the experienced Mahmudullah. Saif Hassan could be drafted in as opener for one of Shadman Islam or Imrul Kayes.

Bangladesh: 1. Shadman Islam, 2. Imrul Kayes/Saif Hassan, 3. Mominul Haque (c), 4. Mohammad Mithun, 5. Mushfiqur Rahim, 6. Mahmudullah, 7. Liton Das (wk), 8. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, 9. Taijul Islam/Mustafizur Rahman, 10. Abu Jayed, 11. Ebdaot Hossain

Pitch and Conditions

Clear conditions are forecast right throughout the five days. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly inspected the pitch two days out from the Test; a pitch that looks quite true. It should hold together well, but the pink ball under lights can enable greater movement on a pitch with a tinge of green.

Stats and Facts

  • India are unbeaten in 10 Tests vs Bangladesh (eight wins, two draws).
  • Mayank Agarwal needs 142 to reach 1,000 runs in Test cricket. This will be just his ninth match.
  • Mushfiqur Rahim scored 30.92% of Bangladesh’s 346 runs off the bat in Indore.
  • India are aiming for their seventh straight win in the World Test Championship. Also, if they win this match, that will be their 12th straight series win at home.
  • This will be the first ever day/night Test in India.
