IPL 2019: KXIP vs RR Preview Dream11 Prediction

KXIP vs RR Preview Dream11. Kings XI Punjab vs Rajasthan Royals Preview Dream11 Prediction

Ring the bell! It’s time for round two KXIP and RR go head-to-head in one of the unlikelier grudge matches in IPL 2019.

Ravichandran Ashwin’s infamous mankad to dismiss Jos Buttler caused plenty of reaction. It helped Kings XI Punjab initiate a collapse that allowed them to kick off their season with a win. Since then, they have been relatively steady, putting themselves right in with a chance of a playoffs appearance. However, the second half of the season is where they collapsed badly in IPL 2018, and they are now coming off two straight losses. Can they get back on track?

Rajasthan Royals, particularly Jos Buttler, will be looking forward to this one. There is the small matter of the mankad episode, but RR are coming off a big effort at the Wankhede, where they played with plenty of effort and energy to keep their playoffs hopes alive. However, their middle order is still cause for concern, nearly blowing what looked a certain victory vs MI. More changes imminent?

Key to a KXIP win

RR have some middle order issues, and the same can be said of KXIP. After Chris Gayle’s outstanding onslaught, the middle then struggled for any impetus against an RCB side that has historically struggled at the death. KXIP were on track for 200 at home, but then stuttered, which is something they must avoid against an RR side that held its own in the middle overs in Mumbai. Can KL Rahul get back in the big runs after what seemed a rare failure? Will Gayle go big again? But, how well will the middle order fare?

Also, KXIP’s seamers were well off the pace vs RCB. With Jos Buttler striking at over 170 vs pace in IPL 2019, the onus is on KXIP’s seamers to display the level of control and precision required to dislodge RR’s opening pair, who complemented each other very well vs MI. Can KXIP make inroads early, paving the way for the spinners to target an up-and-down middle order?

Key to a RR win

RR’s bowlers held their own after an early MI onslaught on Saturday. However, they can’t afford to be poor against the in-form KL Rahul and Chris Gayle, who can take the game away in quick time. Jofra Archer has led the attack well in IPL 2019, and he will be key in making inroads. As mentioned, the KXIP middle order isn’t without its own issues, so RR will be keen to get the likes of Shreyas Gopal leading the way in the middle overs against an KXIP side working hard to build momentum. Can they get the better of the KXIP openers early, and then build on it?

Also, there was rightly plenty of talk about Jos Buttler’s brilliance in Mumbai. However, the performance of Ajinkya Rahane was crucial, as it allowed Jos Buttler to settle into his innings. The no-fear approach from Rahane is something he must repeat in Mohali, which then gives Buttler the freedom to play his way. However, who else will step up? Sanju Samson has it in him to deliver big, but questions remain about the middle order. If Steve Smith gets another chance, can he play with a little more fluency? What about Liam Livingstone if he gets another chance?

Possible Playing 11

Hardus Viljoen was out of the last game with illness. His replacement, AJ Tye, went for 40 in his four overs. If Viljoen is fit, he could come back in.

KXIP: 1. KL Rahul, 2. Chris Gayle, 3. Mayank Agarwal, 4. Sarfaraz Khan, 5. Mandeep Singh, 6. Nicholas Pooran (wk), 7. Sam Curran, 8. Ravichandran Ashwin (c), 9. Hardus Viljoen, 10. Mohammed Shami, 11. Murugan Ashwin

For RR, Ben Stokes missed the last game with injury. If fit, he could come back in for Liam Livingstone. Also, Ashton Turner could be given an opportunity ahead of Steve Smith. Despite this, I believe Australia were still right to pick Steve Smith in their World Cup squad.

RR: 1. Ajinkya Rahane (c), 2. Jos Buttler, 3. Sanju Samson (wk), 4. Steve Smith/Ashton Turner, 5. Liam Livingstone/Ben Stokes, 6. Rahul Tripathi, 7. Shreyas Gopal, 8. Jofra Archer, 9. K Gowtham, 10. Dhawal Kulkarni, 11. Jaydev Unadkat

Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 18, KXIP 8, RR 10.
  • In Mohali, it is locked at 3-3.
  • Jos Buttler has four half-centuries in a row vs KXIP.
  • KL Rahul needs six runs to reach 1,000 for KXIP. He has 994 runs in just 22 innings to date.

Match Prediction

A really interesting match in prospect.

Plenty depends on the top order of both these sides. Today, I just have the nagging feeling that RR will continue to build the momentum. We’ll see!

Discussing Cricket Australia’s World Cup Squad

Cricket Australia’s World Cup 2019 Squad. Discussing Australia’s World Cup Squad.

April 15 2019 was a much-awaited date for Australian cricket fans. Australia’s excellent 2019 in ODIs has created optimism and excitement from all corners, with the team now on a run of eight straight victories, and having us believing they can go very far in the upcoming World Cup.

What this caused, though, was headaches. Shaun Marsh was Australia’s premier ODI batsman in a tough 2018 for the team. Peter Handscomb shifted from red-ball struggles to white-ball success. Usman Khawaja came out of nowhere and was unbelievable in India and the UAE. Aaron Finch found some form. This was all as Steve Smith and David Warner were about to come back into contention.

So, amid all the excitement, there was always a debate about what Australia’s first World Cup XI should look like. Below is the squad of 15 Australia has picked to try defend its World Cup crown:

Discussing Cricket Australia’s World Cup Squad

There are key points to take out of this squad selection, and below is my take on the selectors’ work. Changes can be made up until May 23, and it will be interesting to see if that proves to be the case.

Also read: Why I believed 2018 was a blessing for Australia.

There is always room for Steve Smith

I’ll get this one out of the way first.

Sure, the former captain has struggled for fluency at times in the ongoing IPL 2019. He has scored his 186 runs this season at a strike rate of just 107.51. Coming back from an elbow injury, it is taking some time for Smith to click into full gear for Rajasthan Royals.

The opposite applies to David Warner. Warner has made an excellent return to the IPL, sitting top of the run scoring charts, and looking as though he hasn’t missed a beat.

However, Smith remains one of the world’s premier batsmen. Even with time out of the game, leaving Smith out would have been such a huge call by the selectors, given the value his ability and experience would provide in a World Cup. Sure, his numbers leading up to his ban weren’t great, but his ODI career before a bit of a lean period shows he has plenty to offer. His ability to keep the strike moving will be important in England, giving greater freedom to the likes of Aaron Finch, David Warner, Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell.

Peter Handscomb is mighty unlucky

One decision I don’t agree with is the non-selection of Peter Handscomb.

Crucial to Australia’s incredible series win in India, Handscomb has had a superb 2019. In 14 matches, he has scored 479 runs at 43.54. Even more significant has been his strike rate of 98.15, which has allowed Australia to not lose momentum in the middle overs. Further, he is a back up wicket keeper to Alex Carey, who has certainly impressed less than Peter Handscomb has so far in 2019. Carey was tried as opener, then as a finisher, and it’s safe to say that most of us are still questioning his batting role in the team. I went as far to say Handscomb should have been given the gloves in the Pakistan series, with a view to have him as the keeper in the World Cup.

So, with Handscomb not in the original squad, Australia have picked seven specialist batsmen (excluding Carey), which gives the squad an slightly unbalanced feel. To me, Handscomb should be there in place of one pace bowler, where selections have been made with injuries likely front of mind.

Also read: Why I believed 2018 was a blessing for Australia.

What impact will Nathan Lyon have?

There is the argument that Australia have picked an extra seamer as cover for the history of injuries among the current group of fast bowlers.

However, another reason for the plethora of seamers was if Australia choose not to pick Nathan Lyon. Lyon was important in India and UAE, bowling at an economy rate of 4.78. However, conditions will be different in England. Wickets in the middle overs could prove crucial in good batting conditions, and one wonders whether Lyon will possess the threat he does in red-ball cricket. Will opposition teams be worried when Lyon comes on to bowl? Can the selectors be confident of Lyon consistently bowling at under five an over against teams looking to go big on flat tracks?

Josh Hazlewood is also unlucky

Josh Hazlewood might not be in some people’s first XI, but it was a surprise not to see him in the squad.

With the rise of Jhye Richardson, and strong impact of Nathan Coulter-Nile, there was no place for Hazlewood. Selectors must have been thinking that his style would have no place in England conditions, where the ball does little. However, with his excellent ODI record (average of 25 and economy rate of below five), Australia could have found a place for him considering they picked five pace bowlers. He remains a high-quality bowler.

Discussing Cricket Australia's World Cup Squad. Steve Smith David Warner Peter Handscomb Josh Hazlewood Cricket Blog CricBlog
Discussing Cricket Australia’s World Cup Squad – Josh Hazlewood is unlucky.

Those questioning Shaun Marsh’s place… don’t

It was an awful 2018 for Australia.

The ball tampering incident derailed their year. But, Australia also had the worst ODI record (win/loss ratio) of any nation in the world. Sure, they played England in two five match series, as well as South Africa, but it is an unacceptable result.

One player who stood out was Shaun Marsh. 2018 saw him score 416 runs at 59.42, with three centuries. He hasn’t fared too badly in 2019 either, scoring 435 runs at 48.33. With a strike rate of over 100 in 2018, and close to mid-80s in 2019, how could Shaun Marsh miss out?

Good call by the selectors to have him in the squad.

Verdict

Overall, it is a strong squad. But, a key change I would make is Peter Handscomb over Jason Behrendhorff. Also, if Nathan Coulter-Nile is unfit, then Josh Hazlewood comes in.

However, with the return of David Warner and Steve Smith, along with the good form of others in the squad, other teams need to beware of Australia. There is little doubt this side is a definite Semi Final contender.

Looking forward to the tournament!

IPL 2019: MI vs RCB Preview Dream11 Prediction

MI vs RCB Preview Dream11. Mumbai Indians vs Royal Challengers Bangalore Preview Dream11 Prediction

After a weekend where more of the unexpected occurred, IPL 2019 now approaches its halfway stage. What the last couple of days (and most of the tournament) have told us is that nothing is set in stone, with only CSK producing the goods on a consistent basis.

One of the teams looking for a more consistent performance is Mumbai Indians. You get the feeling they are close to clicking, but key lapses throughout games is hurting them. A strong start vs RR was then greeted by another underwhelming middle overs period. The tournament Buttler then arrived to serve Mumbai, who now need to bounce back against a team that finally got up and running in IPL 2019.

That team is indeed Royal Challengers Bangalore. Their big guns delivered with the team on its knees, bouncing back from a rapid start from KXIP to seal victory in the final over. Yuzvendra Chahal, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers had excellent outings, and RCB can now look at building some momentum with the playoffs door ever-so-slightly open. Can they reverse the earlier result vs MI, where they lost by just five runs?

Key to a MI win

Are MI frustrating you? 200+ looked on the cards vs RR on Saturday, but they again needed a Hardik Pandya special in the final overs to get to a total in the vicinity of 180. Quinton de Kock in the runs is encouraging for MI, who would want Rohit Sharma to push on from his starts. However, the middle overs problem remains for MI, with Kieron Pollard crucially unable to repeat his heroics from the previous two games. Will it be the day where MI achieve that complete batting display?

Also, changes await for MI on the bowling front. Alzarri Joseph has struggled badly since his record-breaking 6/12, and also injured his shoulder. You have to feel for him, but that opens the door for Lasith Malinga, who can provide MI with crucial control in the middle and death overs. Either of Mitchell McGlenaghan or Jason Behrendhorff will be key in the early overs, with Jasprit Bumrah threatening to take more wickets. Can MI get the better of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers?

Image credit: BCCI. MI vs RCB Preview Dream11 – Hardik Pandya continues to contribute to the MI cause.

Key to a RCB win

Yuzvendra Chahal, the only bowler to take two wickets for RCB vs KXIP, was excellent last game out. He helped change the momentum of the game, as 200+ looked a possibility for KXIP. He will be a key bowler once again, but needs support from his fellow bowlers to restrict MI at all stages of the innings. Navdeep Saini continues to show promise and Moeen Ali has been economical in the last two games. So, who else can deliver the goods? Dale Steyn will be available for selection after this game, so it remains to be seen if RCB persist with the expensive Umesh Yadav and Mohamamd Siraj.

Also, there aren’t many better sights than when Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers fire. Two greats of the game, Kohli and de Villiers hold most of RCB’s hopes in the blade of their bats, and can look to follow Jos Buttler’s template from Saturday. They will be crucial again, but need adequate support. Eyes will be on Parthiv Patel, Marcus Stoinis and Moeen Ali to help RCB get the better of an MI attack that is like its batting – good with inconsistent periods of play.

Possible Playing 11

Alzarri Joseph is out with a shoulder injury. He may have been left out regardless, after two tough games in a row. Sanjay Manjrekar will certainly be happy to see Lasith Malinga back. Also, Mitchell McClenaghan, who has a good record vs Virat Kohli in IPL, could replace Jason Behrendhorff.

MI: 1. Rohit Sharma (c), 2. Quinton de Kock, 3. Suryakumar Yadav, 4. Kieron Pollard, 5. Ishan Kishan (wk), 6. Hardik Pandya, 7. Krunal Pandya, 8. Rahul Chahar, 9. Mitchell McClenaghan/Jason Behrendhorff, 10. Jasprit Bumrah, 11. Lasith Malinga

RCB need changes to the bowling attack. Spinners found more joy at the Wankhede than seamers at times on Saturday, so will Washington Sundar finally get a game?

RCB: 1. Parthiv Patel (wk), 2. Virat Kohli (c), 3. AB de Villiers, 4. Marcus Stoinis, 5. Moeen Ali, 6. Akshdeep Nath, 7. Pawan Negi, 8. Umesh Yadav, 9. Mohammed Siraj/Washington Sundar, 10. Yuzvendra Chahal, 11. Navdeep Saini

  • These two sides have played six games at the Wankhede since 2013, with MI winning five.
  • Pacers have taken 39 of 48 wickets at the Wankhede this season. However, spinners played an important role on Saturday in the MI vs RR game.

Zimbabwe vs UAE 3rd ODI Preview Dream11

Zimbabwe vs UAE 3rd ODI Preview Dream11. ZIM vs UAE 3rd ODI Preview Dream11 Prediction

Rain helped cause heartbreak for Zimbabwe last year. This time, it was heartbreak for UAE, who came close to pulling off an upset to level the series.

Instead, Zimbabwe now have the chance to make it 3-0 and win the series. It was a much tougher outing for them in the second game, even after making another great start with the ball. They will want to improve their middle overs bowling, as well as the batting side of things as they slipped throughout their innings. Will they put on an improved showing to take the series?

For UAE, it was a bad start to their first ever bilateral ODI series vs a Full Member. However, the way they bounced back is cause for optimism, competing very well after it seemed they would crumble again. Their premier batsman Shaiman Anwar was superb, along with Ghulam Shabber in getting UAE into a position where they could aim for 250. Rain ruined the momentum, and so did bad light as they were right in with a chance at the end to get a win. Can UAE use the second ODI as a source of confidence?

Key to a Zimbabwe win

Kyle Jarvis was absolutely outstanding, with only the excellent Peter Moor pipping him to the man of the match award. With UAE’s top order shaky, he and Tendai Chatara will be crucial to giving Zimbabwe a good start. However, given they restricted UAE to 12/3, Zimbabwe would want a little more from the change bowlers, especially the spinners, given as Sikandar Raza and Brandon Mavuta were expensive. Indeed, the wickets of Roshan Mustafa, Ghulam Shabber and Shaiman Anwar will be crucial to the result.

Also, can Solomon Mire fire? His form since his excellent T20I Tri-Series vs Pakistan and Australia year still disappoints, which then has to ensure the likes of Regis Chakabva and Craig Ervine must step up. Chakabva was able to, but Zimbabwe were then under a heap of pressure in the middle overs in which Peter Moor was able to rescue them from. Can Zimbabwe put together a more cohesive batting performance this time?

Image credit: Zimbabwe Cricket. Zimbabwe vs UAE 3rd ODI Preview Dream11 – Kyle Jarvis was superb in the second ODI.

Key to a UAE win

It was ‘what could have been’ for UAE last game, but the performance was mighty encouraging. After being shot out for 110, and then sitting at 12/3, Ghulam Shabber and Shaiman Anwar put together a stand that surpassed their entire first game total (131). It is this sort of impact their experienced players can make, which makes these two crucial again, along with Roshan Mustafa, who hasn’t fired yet. In setting or chasing a score, UAE needs it top order to hold its own, as being reduced to three for not many will often mean low totals.

Also, can UAE get more from Mohammad Naveed and Qadeer Ahmed? They went for more than a run-a-ball combined, with neither taking a wicket. With Zahoor Khan, Rohan Mustafa and Imran Haider in the wickets, UAE need wickets up top to put the squeeze on a Zimbabwe middle order that showed some signs of cracking last game. Can UAE keep their hopes alive of leveling the series?

Possible Playing 11

Zimbabwe: 1. Solomon Mire/Brian Chari, 2. Regis Chakabva (wk), 3. Craig Ervine, 4. Timycen Maruma, 5. Sean Williams, 6. Sikandar Raza, 7. Peter Moor (c), 8. Donald Tiripano, 9. Brandon Mavuta, 10. Kyle Jarvis, 11. Tendai Chatara

UAE: 1. Ashfaq Ahmed, 2. Rohan Mustafa, 3. Ghulam Shabber (wk), 4. Muhammad Usman, 5. Shaiman Anwar, 6. Chirag Suri, 7. CP Rizwan, 8. Mohammad Naveed (c), 9. Zahoor Khan, 10. Imran Haider, 11. Qadeer Ahmed

IPL 2019: KXIP vs RCB Preview Dream11 Prediction

KXIP vs RCB Preview Dream11. Kings XI Punjab vs Royal Challengers Bangalore Preview Dream11 Prediction

Before the start of IPL 2019, both these sides had aspirations of a top four finish. After all, both missed the playoffs in IPL 2018, courtesy of inconsistency and underwhelming finishes to the season. However, both teams have gone in the opposite direction, with those aspirations looking realistic only for today’s home team.

Kings XI Punjab are undefeated at home in IPL 2019, and play a side who haven’t won a match. Ravi Ashwin’s team have impressed so far this season, and their predicament could have been even better had it not been for Kieron Pollard’s incredible innings in Mumbai. However, they found themselves in a similar position last season, only to fall away in the second half of the season. Can KXIP keep their momentum going as the halfway point of IPL 2019 approaches?

Well, what can we say of Royal Challengers Bangalore? The last six days have been their best in the tournament, and that’s only because they haven’t played a game. With pre-tournament hopes that this could be their year, they have underwhelmed significantly, losing all six of their games. Their last game, last Sunday, saw them struggle with the bat en-route to a loss to DC. With KXIP undefeated at home so far, RCB have a big ask to get their first win. Can they do it?

Key to a KXIP win

The KL Rahul-Chris Gayle partnership came to the fore in Mumbai. These two were absolutely outstanding, complementing each other perfectly. Chris Gayle might not be available for this clash with a back complaint, and if he is out, the onus is on KL Rahul to anchor the innings at the top. Remember, KXIP were skittled for just 88 vs RCB last season. Then, the openers were out in the powerplay, which exposed the middle order. This season, though, the middle order has shown more mettle, and Ravi Ashwin will be hoping they can build on good work from the top order.

Also, with RCB having their issues against spin, the stage is set for KXIP’s spinners. The seamers were mighty expensive against MI, with only Mohammed Shami standing out with 3/21. He will be a key man in the powerplay tonight, and KXIP could look to bring back M Ashwin to target RCB’s struggles against wristspin. KXIP would be wise to take the pace off, forcing RCB to make the big plays. With RCB struggling in Chennai and Jaipur against spin, you feel this is KXIP’s best avenue for victory.

Cricket Blog IPL 2019: KXIP vs RCB Preview Dream11. Kings XI Punjab vs Royal Challengers Bangalore Preview Dream11 Prediction Playing 11 Match Prediction Cricket Blog CricBlog
KXIP vs RCB Preview Dream11 – KL Rahul has three fifties and a century in his last four innings.

Key to a RCB win

When RCB have bowled well, their batting hasn’t held up. When they have batted well, their bowling has let them down. It has been a sorry story of a sorry season so far. To win in Mohali, RCB’s batsmen have to get the better of KXIP’s attack. Marcus Stoinis at opener is certainly a good shout, but, like always, much rests on the shoulders of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. They were both out cheaply to spin in Jaipur vs RR, and if they are out cheaply again, it’s lights out for RCB. They desperately need a complete batting performance that will then transfer the pressure back on R Ashwin’s men.

Also, Yuzvendra Chahal and Navdeep Saini have been two positives in the mess. Chahal is up challenging for the leading wicket taker role, and Saini continues to bowl with good pace. But, what support will they get? Will RCB finally bowl well as a unit? Can they get the better of KL Rahul and the KXIP top order? Tim Southee has been poor in his matches so far, and Mohammad Siraj can’t be considered as a reliable option. So, RCB need Saini and Chahal to deliver, along with Moeen Ali (who was good vs DC) and Marcus Stoinis who can deliver quality overs in limited overs cricket.

Ankit Rajpoot went for 52 against MI, and will likely make way for a spinner. Same applies to Hardus Viljoen, who took 0/34 in the same game. Also, it remains to be seen if Chris Gayle is fit enough to play, and whether David Miller is persisted with.

KXIP: 1. KL Rahul (wk), 2. Mayank Agarwal, 3. Karun Nair, 4. David Miller/ Nicholas Pooran/Moises Henriques, 5. Sarfaraz Khan, 6. Mandeep Singh, 7. Sam Curran, 8. Ravichandran Ashwin (c), 9. Mujeeb Ur Rahman, 10. Murugan Ashwin, 11. Mohammed Shami

Umesh Yadav had a game to remember in his last game vs KXIP. He could get a look here with RCB needing powerplay wickets. Dale Steyn has been confirmed as a replacement for the injured Nathan Coulter-Nile, but is only available for selection after April 15.

RCB: 1. Virat Kohli (c), 2. Parthiv Patel (wk), 3. AB de Villiers, 4. Marcus Stoinis, 5. Moeen Ali, 6. Akshdeep Nath, 7. Pawan Negi, 8. Tim Southee, 9. Umesh Yadav, 10. Yuzvendra Chahal, 11. Navdeep Saini

IPL 2019: MI vs RR Preview Dream11 Prediction

MI vs RR Preview Dream11. Mumbai Indians vs Rajasthan Royals Preview Dream11 Prediction

Match 27 sees two sides with a tight head-to-head record go at it. However, fortunes have been a contrast in IPL 2019, with one side looking to continue their push for the playoffs, with the other needing to lift their spirits.

Mumbai Indians have not played at their best yet in IPL 2019. However, it is they with three straight wins, sitting in third place with a chance to leapfrog KKR into second. Stand-skipper Kieron Pollard played an innings to remember in an outstanding chase vs KXIP, and with Rohit Sharma set to return, MI can look to build their confidence further. However, they will want to click as a unit, as one or two players have got them out of trouble consistently. While this is testament to their depth, they will want more as a team.

Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, continue to underwhelm. Controversy continues to follow them, as does a mixture of the very good and very bad that has haunted their campaign so far. With only RCB below them on the table, RR are now in must-win territory, given six sides are now realistically in the fight for four spots. Will they make further personnel changes, such as not having both Ajinkya Rahane and Steve Smith in their top order? How will Ben Stokes recover after another fatal final over in India? RR have to step up against a side building some momentum.

Key to a MI win

Despite three straight wins, MI still aren’t quite getting the output required from most of their top order. There were plenty of unconverted starts vs KXIP, which put the onus on Kieron Pollard to play a big innings. He did, but MI can’t rely on Pollard or Hardik Pandya magic all the time, which puts onus on Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan and the returning Rohit Sharma to get MI off to a fine start. With Quinton de Kock in up-and-down form, MI could look at bringing Evin Lewis in, setting up a platform for Pollard and the Pandya brothers to go big in the final overs. Against RR’s inconsistent bowling, MI certainly have it in them to reach 200 if they get strong contributions from the top down.

Also, can MI’s bowlers get the better of a struggling RR batting line up? RR still aren’t sure of their best combination, but you get the feeling they will throw caution to the wind at the Wankhede. RR attempted to do that vs CSK, but lost regular wickets along the way, which is what MI need to strive for. They were on the end of a Gayle-Rahul storm last game, so the early wicket of the dangerous Jos Buttler – who is looking to fire – will be crucial to the cause.

Image credit: AFP. MI vs RR Preview Dream11 Prediction – Rohit Sharma is set to return.

Key to a RR win

RR may very well change their strategy of both Rahane and Smith in the top order. Ajinkya Rahane looked promising last game vs CSK, whereas Smith still seems to be finding his timing and fluency. However, with their season on life support, RR will need to make big decisions. One of them could be bringing Ashton Turner in, as they need some impetus in their innings. With Shreyas Gopal and Jofra Archer showing they can wield the willow down the order, RR desperately need more from the likes of Jos Buttler, Ajinkya Rahane, Sanju Samson and Ben Stokes to get a good score on what is a very good pitch at the Wankhede. Can Buttler repeat his heroics from IPL 2018, where he made a fine 94* on this ground to deliver victory for RR?

Also, RR can hold hope in the fact they dismantled CSK’s top order last game. They restricted them to 24/4 thanks to some brilliant bowling and catching, but then lost their way. Against a MI top order still seeking consistency, RR have the opportunity to get early inroads courtesy of tight line and length bowling. Dhawal Kulkarni got the ball swinging last time out, and Jaydev Unadkat made a good start. If they, along with Jofra Archer, can repeat it, RR can have some hope that they can target the likes of Pollard and Hardik Pandya, with a focus on executing their yorkers against them. Can RR put together a big bowling and fielding effort?

AP Photo/Rafiq Maqbool. MI vs RR Preview Dream11 Prediction – Jos Buttler was superb vs MI in IPL 2018.

Possible Playing 11

Rohit Sharma is set to return for MI, and will replace Siddhesh Lad. Also, there is a chance Evin Lewis will replace Quinton de Kock, with Ishan Kishan to take up the gloves.

MI: 1. Rohit Sharma (c), 2. Quinton de Kock/Evin Lewis, 3. Suryakumar Yadav, 4. Kieron Pollard, 5. Ishan Kishan (wk), 6. Hardik Pandya, 7. Krunal Pandya, 8. Alzarri Joseph, 9. Rahul Chahar, 10. Jasprit Bumrah, 11. Jason Behrendorff

Steve Smith out, Ashton Turner in? RR could go in with this approach, given Smith is striking at not much more than 100 in IPL 2019.

RR: 1. Ajinkya Rahane (c), 2. Jos Buttler (wk), 3. Sanju Samson, 4. Steve Smith/Ashton Turner, 5. Rahul Tripathi, 6. Ben Stokes, 7. Jofra Archer, 8. Shreyas Gopal, 9. Riyan Parag, 10. Jaydev Unadkat, 11. Dhawal Kulkarni

  • Head-to-head: Matches 18, MI 10, RR 8.
  • RR beat MI twice in IPL 2018.
  • RR concede 11.5 an over in the death overs in IPL 2019. Pollard and Pandya could be damaging in this period.
  • MI are set to play their 200th match. They will be first T20 team to reach this mark.

Match Prediction

RR have it in them to compete well, but MI’s depth and the fact they are at home will hold them in good stead.

IPL 2019: KKR vs DC Preview Dream11 Prediction

IPL 2019: KKR vs DC Preview Dream11 Prediction. Kolkata Knight Riders vs Delhi Capitals Preview Dream11 Prediction

Eden Gardens on a Friday night. Where else would you rather be than in the famous stadium or sitting by watching the action?

When Kolkata Knight Riders are in action, you are almost certain to have plenty of fireworks. That wasn’t the case in their last game vs CSK, where they were in big danger of not reaching 100. That they struggled on a pitch that can suit their team was a disappointment, but they now return home for the first of three consecutive matches at Eden Gardens. Their first loss of the season came against today’s opponents. Can they get a little bit of revenge?

With KKR still well on track to reach the playoffs, not quite the same can be said of Delhi Capitals. With a young side, it was always going to be a bit of an up-and-down journey in IPL 2019. However, the improvement from last season is evident, and they are coming off a convincing win vs RCB. With their 50% record, they need five wins out of their remaining eight games to have a chance of reaching the playoffs. Can they beat KKR for the second time this season?

Also read: Zimbabwe vs UAE 2nd ODI Preview Dream11 Prediction

Key to a KKR win

KKR love to attack. It didn’t work out for them at Chepauk, slumping to 79/9 with Andre Russell yet again delivering the goods for KKR. This innings was opposite to what he has been achieving so far in IPL 2019, which places onus on the top order to have a better outing. It certainly will be a key battle, with Chris Morris and Kagiso Rabada in good form, taking six wickets combined against RCB. With Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine threatening to get into top gear, can these two get off to a strong start enabling the middle order and Andre Russell to build off it?

Also, despite the defeat in Chennai, it would have been pleasing to see the spinners find some success. Sunil Narine’s 2/24 is his best return so far in IPL 2019, and KKR need him to replicate that form against a DC side showing potential. Piyush Chawla and Kuldeep Yadav bowled economically, which they will have to repeat, given Harry Gurney’s capabilities of also keeping the runs down and take wickets. Of course, before that, KKR need wickets in the powerplay, which is where Prasidh Krishna will be important. Can he deliver?

Image credit: BCCI. KKR vs DC Preview Dream11 – Andre Russell is having a great IPL 2019.

Key to a DC win

How good is Kagiso Rabada going? He currently tops the wicket taking chart in IPL 2019, and he was the man to deliver a world class Super Over to overcome KKR last time out. He, Chris Morris and Ishant Sharma (if picked) will be key in making inroads against KKR’s top order. Chris Lynn has had an up-and-down tournament so far, and his wicket early enables DC to target the likes of Robin Uthappa, Nitish Rana and Dinesh Karthik who failed last time out. Remember, DC reduced KKR to 61/5 within 10 overs in their last meeting, so Kagiso Rabada might bowl his final two overs when Andre Russell is at the crease.

Also, can Prithvi Shaw repeat his superb performance vs KKR earlier in IPL 2019? His 99 earned him man of the match honours, and while he threatened vs RCB, he hasn’t really got going since. With KKR focused on having their spinners keep things tight, a strong powerplay is important. So, Shikhar Dhawan really has to find his form, paving the way for in-form Shreyas Iyer to continue building the innings, creating a platform for the dangerous Rishabh Pant. Can Pant fire like he did in the first game vs MI?

Image credit: PTI. KKR vs DC Preview Dream11 – Can Prithvi Shaw repeat his excellent innings vs KKR earlier in IPL 2019?

Possible Playing 11

KKR: 1. Sunil Narine, 2. Chris Lynn, 3. Robin Uthappa, 4. Nitish Rana, 5. Shubman Gill, 6. Dinesh Karthik (c & wk), 7. Andre Russell, 8. Piyush Chawla, 9. Kuldeep Yadav, 10. Harry Gurney, 11. Prasidh Krishna

DC: 1. Prithvi Shaw, 2. Shikhar Dhawan, 3. Shreyas Iyer (c), 4. Rishabh Pant (wk), 5. Colin Ingram, 6. Rahul Tewatia, 7. Chris Morris, 8. Axar Patel, 9. Kagiso Rabada, 10. Ishant Sharma/Amit Mishra, 11 Sandeep Lamichhane

Dream11 Prediction

Looking for a different opinion? Subscribe to Deekays Predictions YouTube channel.

Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 22, KKR 13, DC 9.
  • Andre Russell has made five consecutive scores above 20. This is the first time in his 293-game career that he has done this.
  • KKR have 99 wins in IPL.
  • DC are one of two teams to defeat KKR in IPL 2019 (along with CSK).

Match Prediction

Expect fireworks between two exciting teams.

KKR are a very tough team to beat at home (still undefeated in IPL 2019). Also, if they bat second, they are even tougher to beat, with three straight wins chasing in IPL 2019. I pick KKR will get a crucial win to make a big step towards the playoffs.

Zimbabwe vs UAE 2nd ODI Preview Dream11 Prediction. ZIM vs UAE 2nd ODI Preview Dream11 Prediction

In a series hoping the world’s eyes will take a glance, a terribly one-sided opening ODI does those hopes no favours.

Zimbabwe, who lost to UAE in heartbreaking fashion last year, barely raised a sweat in thumping the tourists. It was their first ODI win in their last 14, bringing the winning feeling back in what’s been a tough year. The bowling attack is now primed to give Zimbabwe an unlosable 2-0 lead in this four-match series. Will they back up a win with another?

The start to their first ever bilateral ODI series vs a Full Member was supposed to be a happy day for UAE. Instead, it was a tough day out, shot out for just 110 after being sent in to bat. Mohammad Rizwan’s men will be keen to bounce back, and to do so, they need to hold their own with the bat. Can they bounce back against the odds to level the series?

Key to a Zimbabwe win

Kyle Jarvis and Tendai Chatara were always going to be a threat to UAE’s batsmen. The threat proved too much for UAE to handle, with man of the match Chatara executing excellent lines and lengths to leave UAE in tatters. He and Jarvis will be key again at the top, making inroads into the UAE top order that can be too difficult to come back from. With Zimbabwe possessing a battery of spinners, they can put the squeeze on a UAE middle order looking to recover.

Also, what task will face Zimbabwe’s batsmen? The form of Solomon Mire since his excellent T20I Tri-Series campaign vs Pakistan and Australia last year has been poor, which is something Zimbabwe want rectified. With Regis Chakabva and Craig Ervine solid, Zimbabwe will be keen for a solid start, which the likes of Sean Williams, Timycen Maruma and Sikandar Raza can build on. A strong batting performance might be too much for UAE to cope with.

Key to a UAE win

It is no secret that UAE must improve their batting. They struggled up top against Zimbabwe’s opening bowlers, often stuck on the crease. In the second ODI, UAE’s batsmen need to focus on better footwork, knowing that a steady start is fine with a middle order capable of increasing the run rate. Ashfaq Ahmed needs to find the form from the tour game, with Roshan Mustafa and Shaiman Anwar to deliver as key players. Can UAE set a good platform for its middle order, with Muhammed Boota showing he can hold the bat down the order?

Also, UAE’s bowlers, led by Mohammed Naveed, showed they can give Zimbabwe problems in last year’s win. If they bowl first, UAE need early wickets to put pressure on the yet to be tested Zimbabwe middle order. The same applies if they bowl second, but need an adequate total to defend. Will they find some movement? Can UAE spring a surprise?

Possible Playing 11

Zimbabwe could stick with the same team after a win.

Zimbabwe Possible XI: 1. Solomon Mire, 2. Regis Chakabva (wk), 3. Craig Ervine, 4. Sean Williams, 5. Timycen Maruma, 6. Sikandar Raza, 7. Peter Moor (c), 8. Brendon Mavuta, 9. Donald Tiripano, 10. Kyle Jarvis, 11. Tendai Chatara

It would be harsh for UAE team management to drop any of their players after one game.

UAE: 1. Ashfaq Ahmed, 2. Rohan Mustafa, 3. Ghulam Shabber (wk), 4. Chriag Suri, 5. Shaiman Anwar, 6. Muhammad Usman, 7. Mohammad Boota, 8. Imran Haider, 9. Mohammad Naveed (c), 10. Sultan Ahmed, 11. Qadeer Ahmed

Stats and Facts

  • Craig Ervine scored a half century in the last game. Before that, he had scored four half centuries in his last five innings the Zimbabwe T20 competition. Also, his last three List A innings for Tuskers saw 310 runs for one dismissal.
  • Zimbabwe’s win on Wednesday was their first ODI win in their last 14.
  • UAE’s Shaiman Anwar has over 1,000 runs in ODIs.

Match Prediction

I expect UAE to be more competitive with their first game out of the way. However, Zimbabwe look to have too much in the tank for them at the moment.

Zimbabwe to win and make it 2-0.

IPL 2019: RR vs CSK Preview Dream11 Prediction

IPL 2019: RR vs CSK Preview Dream11 Prediction. Rajasthan Royals vs Chennai Super Kings Preview Dream11 Prediction

Preview co-written by N.S. Shekhawat

Table-toppers CSK now travel to Jaipur to play the seventh-placed team.

That seventh-placed team is Rajasthan Royals. They have struggled so far in IPL 2019, winning just once and holding a net run rate of -0.85. They were thrashed at home by KKR in every aspect of the game. Their batting lacked impetus, with Jos Buttler, Steve Smith and Ben Stokes failing to accelerate as the team needed. N.S. Shekhawat believes they were practicing for the Ashes! Will RR make changes with their season on life support?

On the other hand, the Chennai Super Kings juggernaut rolls on. They have done a magnificent job as a unit, limiting opposition scores. The way MS Dhoni gets the most out of his resources makes them very hard to beat. Deepak Chahar is considered a steady bowler in many parts, but he continues to shine under Dhoni’s leadership. Imran Tahir and Harbhajan Singh have also been superb. However, CSK’s batting has room for improvement. Will they be too good for RR in what could be conditions that suit them?

Key to a RR win

The batting lineup looks a good one on paper. However, the output is not good enough, with RR consistently underwhelming. Ajinkya Rahane continues to struggle at the top, and he has to start delivering for his side. With Steve Smith also under some pressure to get moving (IPL 2019 SR 116.91), Jos Buttler is a vital player. He was superb in IPL 2018, giving RR rapid starts they could build on. However, would it be worth RR choosing only one of Smith or Rahane as they are both accumulators? Also, will Ben Stokes be pushed up the order, and will he perform?

N.S. Shekhawat highlights four key ways RR can beat CSK:

  1. Take the attack to Deepak Chahar. Chahar’s strength is that he bowls superbly in powerplays. RR can’t let him settle, and need to force Dhoni to change his strategy.
  2. Imran Tahir’s four overs will be crucial. The key is to rotate strike well against him, and look at attack elsewhere. For example, Ravindra Jadeja can struggle when the attack is taken to him.
  3. CSK could look to go in with an extra seamer if the pitch is a belter. If they do go with this option, RR have to fire at the death against the likes of Scott Kuggeleijn and Shardul Thakur/Mohit Sharma.
  4. Play Ashton Turner. This could be over Smith or Stokes, which is a big call given their price tags. But, RR need some impetus.

Indeed, the pressure is growing on Ajinkya Rahane and he needs to deliver victory.

Image credit: BCCI. RR vs CSK Preview Dream11 – Can Steve Smith play a match-winning knock?

Key to a CSK win

On the flip side, CSK look mighty settled. However, their batting has room for improvement. Shane Watson has been dismissed more times in the powerplay than any other batsman in IPL 2019. Suresh Raina has also had an underwhelming campaign. With Faf du Plessis making an excellent start to his campaign, the onus is on the top three to create more headaches for a misfiring RR attack. With MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav in good touch, CSK can hope for a strong finish after a good start.

Also, it is clear to see that CSK’s strength lies in their spinners. This could be a perfect option to Jos Buttler, who is striking at just 108 vs spin in IPL 2019. Harbhajan Singh has taken five wickets at an economy rate of 5.30 in the powerplay when he has slowed it up to 70-79 kph. He and Deepak Chahar can build further pressure on RR’s under-pressure lineup, paving the way for Ravindra Jadeja and Imran Tahir to do their thing. Can CSK leave RR with too much to do in the death overs, given they can struggle with the ball in this period?

Possible Playing 11

N.S. Shekhawat believes Ashton Turner should replace Steve Smith. I think both Rahane and Smith will be persisted with, and Turner could possibly come in for Stokes. Sanju Samson is reportedly being monitored for a possible return from a thigh injury. Also, do RR give Mahipal Lomror a chance, given that strike rotation is a strength of his?

N.S. Shekhawat’s RR XI: 1. Ajinkya Rahane (c), 2. Jos Buttler (wk), 3. Steve Smith/Ashton Turner, 4. Prashant Chopra/Sanju Samson, 5. Ben Stokes, 6. Mahipal Lomror, 7. Shreyas Gopal, 8. Jofra Archer, 9. K Gowtham, 10. S Midhun, 11. Dhawal Kulkarni

My possible RR XI: 1. Ajinkya Rahane (c), 2. Jos Buttler (wk), 3. Steve Smith, 4. Prashant Chopra/Sanju Samson, 5. Ben Stokes/Ashton Turner, 6. Mahipal Lomror, 7. Shreyas Gopal, 8. Jofra Archer, 9. Varun Aaron/K Gowtham, 10. S Midhun, 11. Dhawal Kulkarni

If the Jaipur pitch is on the slower side, Harbhajan Singh should play for CSK. However, the likes of Mohit Sharma, Shardul Thakur and M Sharam are on standby.

N.S. Shekhawat’s CSK XI: 1. Shane Watson, 2. Faf du Plessis, 3. Suresh Raina, 4. Ambati Rayudu, 5. MS Dhoni (c & wk), 6. Kedar Jadhav, 7. Ravindra Jadeja, 8. Scott Kuggeleijn, 9. Harbhajan Singh/Shardul Thakur/Mohit Sharma, 10. Deepak Chahar, 11. Imran Tahir

My possible CSK XI: 1. Shane Watson, 2. Faf du Plessis, 3. Suresh Raina, 4. Ambati Rayudu, 5. MS Dhoni (c & wk), 6. Kedar Jadhav, 7. Ravindra Jadeja, 8. Scott Kuggeleijn, 9. Harbhajan Singh, 10. Deepak Chahar, 11. Imran Tahir

Key stats and points:

  • RR and RCB, the bottom two sides, scored 139 and 158 respectively at Jaipur. If CSK bat second, it is best to select top order batsmen.
  • MS Dhoni, batting first against RR earlier in IPL 2019, scored 75* (46). He was man of the match. He averages over 40 vs RR in 20 innings.
  • Jos Buttler is yet to reach the heights of IPL 2018. He scored 95* (60) that delivered an amazing win for RR vs CSK at Jaipur last season. He is capable.
  • Shane Watson played eight seasons for RR. He has scored 875 runs in 28 innings at the Sawai Masingh Stadium, averaging just under 40. Also, he has a century vs RR, having played just three matches vs them.
  • Faf du Plessis so far in IPL 2019: 54 and 43*.
  • Suresh Raina has underwhelmed in IPL 2019 (132 runs, SR 112.82). He does average over 30 vs RR, so consider if CSK bat first.
  • Ajinkya Rahane is not having his best tournament. He was excellent against SRH (70 off 49 balls), but has just 54 runs in the remaining four innings, including a duck vs CSK. Steve Smith is under a bit of pressure with his scoring rate, but is scoring enough runs to warrant consideration (20, 28, 38 and 73*).
  • Ben Stokes scored a fine 46 (26) to get RR close vs CSK earlier this year. However, is his impact consistent enough for his price?
  • Ravindra Jadeja has a fine record vs RR (14 wickets at 20, with two 4-fers).
  • Shreyas Gopal has five wickets in his past two matches. RR’s most likely bowler, along with Jofra Archer? Varun Aaron could get a game, considering he has taken five wickets in four games vs CSK (SR 17).
  • Imran Tahir is a must. He has nine wickets in IPL 2019, to go with nine wickets in four games vs RR (avg. 13.33).

Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 20, RR 7, CSK 13.
  • RR have won 20 out of 25 when chasing at Sawai Masingh Stadium.
  • MS Dhoni needs one win to reach 100 wins as captain in IPL. No one has 100 wins yet.
  • This is the first of four consecutive away games for CSK.
  • RR’s boundary percentage from overs 1-15 is 51.01% in IPL 2019. This is the lowest among all teams.

Match Prediction

RR need to win. They currently sit six points outside the top four (with two games in hand).

However, there seems to be too much confusion about their team combination, along with key players not performing as well as they can. CSK are settled, and are primed for a big batting effort against RR’s struggling attack. Both N.S. Shekhawat and I believe CSK will win, given their strong record vs RR.

IPL 2019: MI vs KXIP Key Fantasy Picks and Tips

IPL 2019: MI vs KXIP Key Fantasy Picks and Tips

By Rakesh Mansukhlal

IPL 2019 Match 24, Wankhede, Mumbai…

This is the third match at this venue. This pitch is a beauty for batsmen so pick more batsmen and pacers in your team

For spinners, it is difficult to get help on this pitch. The first match on this ground (DC vs MI where DC beat MI by 37 runs thanks to good hitting by Pant and Ingram), the pacers got almost all wickets. In the second, MI beat CSK thanks to Suryakumar Yadav and Pandya brothers, where Hardik hit a quick fire 25 off eight balls, with 3 wickets with the ball.

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is CricBlog-ad-2-1024x427.png

Players to watch for MI:

Quinton de Kock: He played well vs KXIP in Mohali in IPL 2019, and has to improve his performance otherwise Evis Lewis can be called to replace him. I think MI will give him one more game at least.

Kieron Pollard: If Mumbai lose early wickets, he can handle middle order. He and Hardik can give good total for MI, as he also in good nick.

Hardik Pandya: If he gets at least 2-3 overs to bat, he can demolish opposition bowlers all over the park. He is also a good bowler and fielder. He is a fine choice for captain.

MI vs KXIP Key Fantasy Picks – Hardik Pandya is in fine form.

Jason Behendorff: He is tall, and if he bowls good line and length he can make inroads in the opposite batting line up. He is a fine bowler in the powerplay.

Alzarri Joseph: His first home game. There will be lots of expectations on him after his amazing 6/12 last game.

Ishan Kishan: He is a trump card for you if Mumbai lose openers early. He can bat at brisk pace, and has talent as we saw last year. With his ability it is just a matter of time – he can solve problems for MI unpredictable middle order…

Players to watch for KXIP:

This team team is in good shape. They have won four out of six matches, led by R Ashwin. They beat SRH in last encounter by 6 wickets thanks to a cool and composed innings by KL Rahul, which he can look to do it again in today’s match.

KL Rahul: He has played good cricket in IPL 2019, scoring three fifties in his last four knocks. He is composed and hungry for runs, determined not to give his wicket away. He can play through the innings and win for KXIP.

MI vs KXIP Key Fantasy Picks – KL Rahul is rediscovering his form.

Mayank Agarwal: This IPL has been good for him compared to the last one. Once he gets through the early hurdles, he is a dangerous player, especially with Gayle or Rahul to look after him.

David Miller: This pitch suits David Miller if KXIP lose early wickets. He can handle middle order and hit in well in the death overs. He has to deliver with Moises Henriques now available for KXIP.

R Ashwin: He is the captain and has bowled well this year. He is difficult to score as he has variations in his bowling. If KXIP bowl second, he and his spinners will be difficult to bat against.

Sarfaraz Khan: Surprise package of this IPL. He has looked good… Keep an eye on him for value, as he just needs to improve his strike rate and running..

In the end, lots depends of the toss. There is Kishan, Pollard and Miller who can take match in your favour. Best of luck!
