What an interesting schedule.

A T20I is being played in the same month as a 50-over World Cup. But hey, let’s just roll with it, because that’s what the cricket world is like these days.

Nonetheless, it is an opportunity for Pakistan to start their matches against England on a good note. They were too good for County opposition in their two tour matches, and will be looking to bounce back after a series defeat to South Africa earlier this year. That broke a run of 11 consecutive successful bilateral T20I series assignments. With England possessing some inexperience, Pakistan can be said to be favourites. Will they show it?

England shift focus from an ODI vs Ireland to a T20I vs Pakistan. Then, in a few days, it will be back to ODIs. It certainly is an interesting schedule, but also an opportunity for players to build form. The likes of Tom Curran and Ben Foakes were superb against Ireland, and England will be hoping for more from their top order, who crumbled in Malahide on Friday.

Key to an England win

Joe Root and Eoin Morgan failed in Ireland, which put England under significant pressure. Ben Foakes was superb along with Tom Curran in getting England home, but Morgan will want a better batting display, despite the change in format. James Vince and Ben Duckett will likely open, and a good powerplay can set the tone for a good innings. Then, can Root and Morgan deliver, paving the way for the likes of Joe Denly and Ben Foakes to finish well?

Also, the audition continues for Jofra Archer in an England shirt. He was steady in Ireland, and now returns to the format where he has played his most cricket. His contribution against Pakistan’s top order will be key, along with Tom Curran who was also excellent with the ball in Malahide. Can the likes of Chris Jordan and Adil Rashid also combine well to put on a cohesive bowling display?

Key to a Pakistan win

When Pakistan do well, Babar Azam is usually at the centre of it. Pakistan suffered badly when he was missing in the ODIs against Australia, and he is coming off a huge 101* off 63 balls vs Leicestershire last game out. But, who else will deliver? Fakhar Zaman has very fond memories of England, but the fear with Pakistan is that they lack a bit of power. So, the contribution of Asif Ali and Sarfaraz Ahmed will be crucial in the middle order so that Pakistan get a big total on what is expected to be a good Cardiff pitch.

Also, can Pakistan’s bowlers do what Ireland did to England’s top order? Hasan Ali and Shaheen Shah Afridi are talented limited overs bowlers, and can be a handful at their best. Mohammad Hasnain could be line for a debut after an impressive PSL 2019 season, and the control he bowls with at his pace will make for interesting viewing. Also, can Faheem Ashraf and Imad Wasim provide that all-important control?

IPL 2019: MI vs KKR Preview Dream11. Mumbai Indians vs Kolkata Knight Riders Preview Dream11 Prediction

The final game of the IPL league stage will decide who makes the playoffs and who finishes where. With the Wankhede hosting a game between two powerful sides, with an all-time IPL record of 874 sixes, anything can happen.

Mumbai Indians have qualified for the playoffs. However, this does not mean this is a game to relax. They will finish in the top two if they win tonight, which gives them a maximum of two shots at making the Final. They lost an absolute thriller in Kolkata last week, and there is no doubt that they will have to put out a few fireworks once again. Can they cope with KKR’s power men better than they did when they conceded an IPL 2019 record 232?

The equation is also very simple for Kolkata Knight Riders: win and enjoy the playoffs. SRH’s loss in Bengaluru last night has opened the door right up for KKR, who looked close to gone after six straight losses. Their win against MI ended the losing streak, which they followed up with a fine victory against KXIP. Their batting, with Shubman Gill and Chris Lynn a fine opening partnership, is mighty dangerous. However, can their up-and-down bowling hold up in Mumbai?

Key to a MI win

Can MI pick up an early wicket or two? KKR have finally realised that Shubman Gill’s best position is opener, and they have been rewarded with two straight wins. Gill has three fifties in four innings as an IPL opener, so the battle between he and MI’s pace bowlers makes for intriguing viewing. Also, with Chris Lynn in dangerous form, MI need to find ways to restrict the scoring a lot better than they did in Kolkata. Can the likes of Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah restrict the incredible Andre Russell? Is the short pitched delivery the way to go, mixed in with yorkers? A great battle awaits.

Also, the battle between MI’s top order and KKR’s is a key one. MI’s top four was comprehensively outplayed in their previous defeat to KKR, with Hardik Pandya giving them a chance with an incredible 91 off 34 balls. There is no better time than now for skipper Rohit Sharma, who has had an underwhelming tournament, to deliver the goods against an inconsistent KKR attack. With Quinton de Kock in good form, and Evin Lewis and Suryakumar Yadav (if both picked) capable, MI need to set a platform for the high-flying Hardik Pandya to take KKR apart.

Key to a KKR win

There is no doubt about it: KKR’s top order has a new lease of life. Shubman Gill is now being utilised properly by KKR, and he is delivering the goods, showcasing incredible strokeplay. He and Lynn complement each other nicely, and a strong start from these two can enable KKR to put Andre Russell further up the order. Russell scored an outstanding 80 off 40 balls last time out vs MI, and KKR need the same with a playoffs spot up for grabs. Can the likes of Dinesh Karthik, Nitish Rana and Robin Uthappa also contribute to the cause if needed?

However, KKR’s bowling, particularly at the death, is a worry. Sam Curran took them apart at the death last game, and KKR ended up conceding 180+ when less than 170 looked on the cards. With Hardik Pandya at the helm for MI, KKR have to get this side of their game spot on in such a crucial game. But, they can limit his impact if they can win the powerplay and middle overs against MI. With Rohit Sharma not in his best form, KKR have an opportunity to pounce early, and then make MI work hard in the middle overs. All to play for.

The return of ODI Cricket marks a week of plenty of action. It begins with Ireland hosting West Indies and Bangladesh in a Tri-Nations series.

Even though there is no World Cup preparation for Ireland, there is still plenty to play for. They pushed England all the way on Friday, and will now look to push West Indies and Bangladesh all the way. Today, their objective will be to remind the world of their fighting spirit, and against a side with many of its key players out, they are a mighty chance. Can they build on their effort vs England?

For West Indies, spots are up for grabs. Bangladesh, the other touring side, have a full squad on hand to determine their best combinations, which is not the case for the West Indies. A number of their key men are still at the IPL, which gives an opportunity for others to stake their claim. The likes of John Campbell, Sunil Ambris and Roston Chase will be out to impress, and if the Windies can perform well here after a terrific series against England, it will only boost the mood further.

Key to an Ireland win

Ireland’s batting promised more against England. Paul Stirling looked dangerous in his 50+ run opening stand with skipper William Porterfield. However, the regular wickets that followed, including the controversial one of Andy Balbirnie, is something to avoid. While the Windies will be missing key personnel, their pace attack still looks dangerous, so the onus is on the openers to again make a good start, backed up well by the likes of Balbirnie, Kevin O’Brien and Lorcan Tucker. Can they set up a strong platform for the likes of George Dockrell and Mark Adair to play off?

Also, what a debut it was by 19-year old Josh Little. He troubled England, and will be key along with Tim Murtagh and Boyd Rankin in getting into an inexperienced Windies lineup. The regular wickets against England is something Ireland can be very encouraged by, but can they go on with the job? First, can they outplay the Windies in the powerplay period? A great opportunity awaits Ireland.

Key to a West Indies win

The Windies’ batting will be centre of attention in this one. John Campbell has ability, but disappointed against England earlier in the year. Darren Bravo showed some good signs in that seires, and has to be a rock in a middle order that has inexperience. However, the key man will undoubtedly be Shai Hope, who has had a strong 6-12 months in ODI Cricket. The onus is on he and the rest of the top order to set a platform for the likes of Jason Holder and Roston Chase to build on, giving the Windies a strong shot at a big total.

Also, can West Indies’ pace attack trouble Ireland in what is expected to be seam-friendly conditions? There will be no Oshane Thomas, but in Kemar Roach, Sheldon Cottrell, Shannon Gabriel and Jason Holder, the Windies have an attack that can push the Irish right back. They can take a leaf out of Liam Plunkett and Tom Curran’s book from Friday, mixing their lengths nicely to catch Ireland short of footwork. Can they get the better of Ireland’s experienced men?

Pride vs playoffs opportunity.

That is what it has got to for Royal Challengers Bangalore. It has been another season of what-ifs, paying the price for an awful start to IPL 2019. Ahead of a season of hope, where the question was posed whether this could be their time, familiar failings have hurt Virat Kohli’s men. Now, they can be of serious nuisance value, given they will have a major say of who the final team will be to make the playoffs.

Sunrisers Hyderabad pushed MI all the way in one of the games of the tournament. David Warner left for Australia, but the bowlers and Manish Pandey in particular stood up to nearly seal their playoffs place. Another big effort today will likely be too much for RCB to handle, and given their strong NRR, their playoffs place could very well be sealed with a win. Can SRH hold their nerve, especially if RR win their game against DC?

Key to a RCB win

RCB’s batting has again, unsurprisingly, rested a lot on Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. However, Parthiv Patel has had a fine season, and RCB will be hoping he signs off on a positive note. He, Kohli and de Villiers as the top three can turn up the heat on an SRH side that needs to win. This is especially important now that Marcus Stoinis has left for Australia, so RCB need a platform for the middle order to play off. Surely it is the time to give Shimron Hetmyer a game, and if so, can he end a very disappointing campaign on a high?

Also, RCB need a consistent bowling performance. They haven’t had it in IPL 2019, coming close only when Dale Steyn was on board. While Kane Williamson hasn’t fired yet for SRH, he will be key wicket along with the mighty dangerous Manish Pandey. However, RCB need to start well against Martin Guptill, who looked very promising vs MI, and Wriddhiman Saha, who can provide that important anchor role at the top. Who will it be to step up in the last game? Will it be Umesh Yadav in the powerplay, backed up by Yuzvendra Chahal in the middle overs then Navdeep Saini at the death?

Key to a SRH win

If RR win, then it’s must win for SRH. However, SRH need to approaching this game with an all-guns-blazing mentality, given they won’t want to rely on in-form KKR to lose vs MI if RR end up losing today. So, the big question is who will support Manish Pandey? This was a question when Warner and Bairstow were on fire and the middle order wasn’t, so the onus is on the top four to deliver the goods. Martin Guptill will be good for the hit out last time out, and there is no better time for Kane Williamson to arrive to the party. Also, Vijay Shankar, who is having a disappointing time of late, needs to contribute to the cause. Can SRH win all stages of the innings against RCB’s inconsistent bowling?

Also, there was plenty to like about SRH’s bowling in Mumbai. They kept Hardik Pandya quiet, and kept fighting to restrict MI in the region of 160. The same fight and desire is required against a side possessing two of the finest limited overs players ever. If SRH can make inroads into RCB’s top four, it sets the game up beautifully. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and wicket-taker Khaleel Ahmed will be vital to the cause, along with Rashid Khan who can put more pressure on RCB’s middle order. Keep an eye out also for Mohammad Nabi, who can provide the crucial balance SRH need in a crunch game.

DC vs RR Preview Dream11. Delhi Capitals vs Rajasthan Royals Preview Dream11 Prediction

Two days of league action to go. This weekend of two big double headers will finally decide who makes it to the playoffs and who doesn’t.

One of the teams in contention is Rajasthan Royals. They made a run to make it against the odds last season, and it would be something of a miracle this season given how poor they were going. They have lost yet another international player in Steve Smith, but they have had some success at the Feroz Shah Stadium and need to pull out all the stocks here. They simply must win, and then hope SRH loses to RCB and KKR to MI.

Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, have the luxury of playing their last two games knowing they have qualified for the playoffs. However, they are in a two-way battle with MI for a top-two spot. They were comprehensively beaten in Chennai last game, and have to bounce back here. That is a tough ask with Kagiso Rabada ruled out of IPL 2019, but with two wins in a row at home, DC need to believe they can do it again.

Key to a DC win

DC’s batsmen were all at sea against CSK’s spinners last game. Prithvi Shaw was a player many had eyes on before the tournament, but he has underwhelmed. So, Shikhar Dhawan again holds the key at the top, because you get the feeling that if he gets out early, the pressure really builds on the Capitals. With Shreyas Iyer in some good touch, and Rishabh Pant playing a blinder vs RR earlier in the season, DC need their top four to deliver a strong platform for the likes of Sherfane Rutherford to play with freedom.

Also, after a fine start vs CSK, DC let things slip badly. Their death bowling was all over the place at Chepauk, and if they are to entertain dreams of lifting the IPL 2019 trophy, they must perform better without Kagiso Rabada. Of course, losing a player who has taken 25 wickets is significant, but the onus will be on two players who have plenty of experience – Trent Boult and Chris Morris – to bowl well when called upon at all stages of the innings. Also, with the Feroz Shah Kotla often aiding spin, keep an eye out for the likes of Axar Patel, Amit Mishra and Jagadeesha Suchith to cause RR problems. Should DC play Sandeep Lamichhane over Chris Morris? Remains to be seen.

Key to a RR win

There is no Steve Smith now for RR. Ajinkya Rahane will retake the captaincy, of which he was struggling a little with earlier in the season. However, Rahane scored a superb century vs DC earlier in the season, and RR need another big innings from Rahane in a do-or-die game. Also, Liam Livingstone has shown good signs this season, and it’s time for Sanju Samson to play the significant innings his form has threatened he can do. With an inexperienced middle order, RR’s top three must deliver the goods to be able to remind DC of their faults at the death vs CSK.

Also, can Shreyas Gopal work his magic again? He has been superb in IPL 2019, sitting third in the wicket-takers list with 18. Gopal will be a danger man in conditions that can aid spin, so watch out for him to lead the attack. Also, RR’s seamers have been in good touch recently, so onus is on them, even in slower conditions, to have a good outing and build pressure on DC. Can RR get the better of DC’s top order and build on it?

Take a deep breath. The hopes of these two sides are still alive.

MI’s thrilling Super Over win against SRH has left the door open for both Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders. Both sides sit on 10 points, with KKR boasting a better NRR. So, the perfect night out for KXIP would be to win well, moving their NRR from -0.296 to somewhere well closer to the positives. However, their form is mirroring IPL 2018, well-placed midway through the season before a collapse to miss the playoffs. Will it be they or KKR who move level with SRH?

Key to a KXIP win

Fears over KXIP’s team balance have come to fruition in recent games. Their reliance on their openers is clear, with the middle order unable to continue on from the promising signs they were showing earlier in the tournament. With KL Rahul taking time to get going, Chris Gayle has a crucial role in getting KXIP off to a flyer. With Gayle coming up against fellow West Indian powerhouse Andre Russell, KXIP need Gayle to win that battle, especially considering KXIP win just 16.7% of matches where Gayle scores less than 30. Also, with David Miller struggling, would KXIP be better served bringing in Sam Curran for some late boundaries and extra bowling strength? Can the likes of Mayank Agarwal and Nicholas Pooran build on their starts from the last game?

Also, another big question is where KXIP’s bowlers can handle the power KKR possess. Arshdeep Singh went for 42 vs SRH. Mujeeb ur Rahman a huge 66. Mohammed Shami, who went for nine an over, was the most economical apart from the two Ashwins. Murugan and Ravichandran need more support, and given KXIP have changed their team in every single game. Expect another here, with Sam Curran possibly called on to provide much needed spark. Can Shami get the better of the KKR top order? How will KXIP deal with Andre Russell? With NRR an issue for KXIP, they must bowl well.

Key to a KKR win

In a season where they have struggled to know their perfect batting lineup, KKR finally got it right in an incredible batting performance against MI. A mammoth score of 232 was headlined by Shubman Gill batting where he should be and Andre Russell given more time to explode. The same template for success applies here, coming up against a side that conceded 200+ in their last game. With Chris Lynn also firing nicely last time out, KKR have a top three that can set an incredible platform for the likes of Dinesh Karthik, Sunil Narine and Nitish Rana to play off the back of. Ideally, they wouldn’t really need them, as was the case on Sunday at Eden Gardens.

Also, can KKR’s bowlers overcome KXIP’s opening partnership? If they can, they place immense pressure on the middle order to step up, given the pressure-filled nature of this game. Sunil Narine could be the man to tame the Gayle, with Harry Gurney and Andre Russell looking to build on their combined four wickets last time out. Also, can Piyush Chawla bounce back after a very expensive outing? Is it the right time to bring Kuldeep Yadav back, given the longer square boundaries at Mohali? A clinical bowling and fielding display can set KKR up nicely.

International cricket is back. A World Cup is now under a month away, and focus is now beginning to shift towards it even with IPL 2019 in its business end.

But, it’s a bittersweet time for Ireland. The heartbreak in Zimbabwe of missing out on the World Cup will now come to fruition. Excitement is building in nations participating in the World Cup, but there is always the lingering truth that a 10-team World Cup does little to grow the game. However, Ireland have an opportunity to make a further statement after an excellent series against Afghanistan in foreign conditions. With West Indies and Bangladesh also in town, can Ireland upset England as Scotland did last year?

England’s huge summer officially kicks off. Hosting a World Cup as the number one ranked ODI side has them as favourites with the bookmakers, and they will want to get off on the right note after an inconsistent series in the Caribbean earlier in the year. Jofra Archer is set to make his debut and England will be keen to overcome the Alex Hales distraction. Their batting, even with changes expected, remains dangerous. Ruthlessness will be the order of the day ahead of their series against Pakistan.

Key to an Ireland win

Who will play a knock similar to that of Calum McLeod last year? McLeod scored an incredible 140 off 94 balls en-route to Scotland’s first ever win over England. To expect that of a Irish batsman is unfair (even though Kevin O’Brien has done it before), but a platform from the top is crucial to their chances. Conditions are expected to be very cold with a greenish pitch, so how Ireland get through the first 10-15 overs is key. The onus is on the expected Irish top four of William Porterfield, Paul Stirling, Kevin O’Brien and Andy Balbirnie, man of the series vs Afghanistan, to weather any early storms. Can Ireland then finish well via the likes of Gary Wilson?

Also, Dawid Malan and Ben Foakes are expected to make their ODI debuts for England. James Vince will join Malan for a very new opening partnership. Joe Denly has been in and out of England’s plans for a while. So, can Ireland take advantage of England’s inexperience? Can Tim Murtagh find movement to make life challenging for England? What about Boyd Rankin? These two, Ireland’s more experienced players, have a key role in building pressure on England, setting the tone for the rest to follow.

Key to an England win

A number of players in the England lineup will be looking to stake a claim. Dawid Malan has had a strong season domestically in limited overs cricket, and will be key in negotiating Ireland’s enthusiasm early along with James Vince. Vince is known for starting well, but often can’t go on with the job, which is something England want to see rectified today. With Joe Root and Eoin Morgan in the side, England’s inexperienced players, also including Ben Foakes, have experience to turn to in getting a total on the board. Both Root and Morgan will be key, without a doubt.

Also, what impact can Jofra Archer have on his ODI debut? England’s bowling struggles were apparent in West Indies, and need a boost to further enhance confidence ahead of the World Cup. With Ireland looking like they could lack strong finishing, early wickets for England sets the game right up. With World Cup spots up for grabs, the likes of Liam Plunkett and Tom Curran will also be out to make an impression. Can England enable Adil Rashid to bowl at an under-pressure Irish middle order?

MI vs SRH Preview Dream11. Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Preview Dream11 Prediction

Is it a case of settled vs unsettled?

Mumbai Indians, despite a last-start defeat to KKR, look a settled unit. One win from their last two games will clinch a playoffs spot, but two wins will clinch a top two place. When they have looked like building huge momentum in IPL 2019, they have suffered defeat, as was the case vs KKR after a fine win vs CSK at Chepauk. Can MI confirm their place in the playoffs today?

Sunrisers Hyderabad, on the other hand, might feel like they are fielding a new team. David Warner, who many were unsure how he would go given the past year, was outstanding, carrying the team with 692 runs. He is now gone, along with Jonny Bairstow, so SRH need to ensure they replace them adequately. With their strong NRR, a win for SRH today would just about clinch a playoffs place. Can they improve a poor record in Mumbai?

Key to a MI win

SRH have the best powerplay run rate (9.3) of any team in IPL 2019. However, David Warner and Jonny Bairstow were the cause of this. They now aren’t available, so an opportunity presents MI to make inroads. Limiting the boundaries early will be key, of which MI can look to then build pressure on the likes of Manish Pandey and Mohammad Nabi in the middle overs. A key question will be whether MI can get the better of Kane Williamson. Another is how well Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah bounce back after going for 92 runs combined in their eight overs vs KKR.

Also, how good was Hardik Pandya in Kolkata? An amazing 91 off 34 balls again highlighted his finishing credentials. Today, the onus is on Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock to start fast against an SRH side with some pace bowling issues. Then, with Rashid Khan a chance to be kept until Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard bat, the middle overs will also be crucial in forcing Kane Williamson to change his hand. Can MI get themselves in a position where they can get a big total?

Key to a SRH win

Whoever replaces David Warner has a big task. If it’s Kane Williamson, he and Wriddhiman Saha need to use their touch to find boundaries in the powerplay. If Martin Guptill is called upon, he needs to hit his straps straight away. Also important is the performance of the SRH middle order, including the in-form Manish Pandey who can cause issues for MI in the middle overs. Then, who will step up at the death, where SRH have struggled this season?

Also, can SRH do what KKR did and not enable MI’s top and middle order to get going? Billy Stanlake is an option to call on, and he has to find results right away to give SRH an edge. If SRH can have Rashid Khan targeting Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard, both of whom he has good records against, SRH can then limit MI. So, who will step up in the early and middle overs? Significant onus rests on experienced players such as Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammad Nabi, as well as the wicket-taking Khaleel Ahmed.

Alex Hales Withdraws from England Cricket World Cup Squad

VOTE TODAY! Were England right in withdrawing Alex Hales from their international squads?

England batsman Alex Hales was forced to withdraw from competition at the upcoming Cricket World Cup. Hales was withdrawn from England’s preliminary squad in order to avoid any “unnecessary distractions” as the team prepares for the upcoming tournament. The England and Wales Cricket Board made the announcement on Monday.

Hales is currently serving a three-week ban for recreational drug use. Ashley Giles, the Managing Director of England Men’s Cricket, said, “We’ve worked hard to create the right environment around the England team and need to consider what is in the best interests of the team.”

Giles added, “I want to make it clear this is not the end of Alex’s career as an England player. The ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) and PCA will continue to aid Alex and work alongside his county club Nottinghamshire to give him the support he needs, to help him fulfill his potential as a professional cricketer.”

Hales has been removed from England’s Twenty20 and ODI squads. The ODI team is set to play a one-off against Ireland, while the T20 side has an upcoming match against Pakistan.

The three-week ban came down because Hales tested positive for a second time for recreational drugs. Giles reportedly broke the news to Hales at the England training camp in Cardiff over the weekend. Giles, coach Trevor Bayliss and captain Eoin Morgan were in agreement on the decision to remove Hales from the squad.

James Vince has been added to the squad in Hales’ place for the upcoming five-match ODI series against Pakistan, and Vince will likely be Hales’ eventual replacement on the World Cup roster. Dawid Malan and Ben Duckett have also been added to the squad ahead of the upcoming match against Ireland. Jason Roy was also removed from the squad due to a back injury.

While Giles said that Hales will be eligible to return to the England squad eventually, the cricketer himself is reportedly contemplating retiring from international competition. He was under the impression that his spot on the World Cup squad was assured due to his on-pitch form.

Hales’ representatives released a statement that said, “We are hugely disappointed in the treatment of our client, Alex Hales, by the ECB following his ejection from England’s preliminary World Cup squad. Nobody is seeking to excuse Alex’s behavior in this instance. He absolutely acknowledges and recognises he made a huge mistake.”

The statement continued, “But as part of the ongoing process, both he and his representatives have been involved in many conversations with senior members of the ECB over the past few weeks where Alex has apologised profusely for his actions. At every stage, Alex fulfilled his obligations and both he and his representatives were given assurances that any suspension – again under the ECB’s guidelines – could not affect his selection for the World Cup.”

Those in charge ultimately came to the conclusion that Hales’ inclusion in the squad could be too much of a distraction for the rest of the team as they continue to prepare for the World Cup. Morgan has been adamant in his demands for professionalism from his players in advance of the tournament, which is set to take place on home soil.

The representatives’ statement added, “The fact all those assurances seem to have been rendered meaningless has understandably left Alex devastated. Until the matter became public, the ECB had fully observed their own process and guidelines and given Alex the support and guidance laid out in those regulations. It is now disappointing to learn these guidelines seem to have been disregarded while, in this instance, player welfare would also appear to be low on their list of priorities.”

Some view the ECB’s policy on player discipline for drug-related offenses as being too lenient, as the player’s team is not even informed of a first-time violation.

It is not the first time Hales has found himself in hot water. Back in 2017, Hales was involved in a brawl outside of a nightclub in Bristol. A little over a year later, he was banned for four matches in connection with the incident.

CSK vs DC Preview Dream11. Chennai Super Kings vs Delhi Capitals Preview Dream11 Prediction

It’s match 50 of IPL 2019. Two sides who have already qualified for the playoffs go head-to-head in Chennai. However, stakes are still high, as a top two finish is up for grabs.

Incredibly, Chennai Super Kings are in a bit of a form slump. They have lost three of their last four games, two of which there was no MS Dhoni. The CSK skipper is in doubt for this clash, with coach Stephen Fleming saying he is progressing well after being quite sick during the week. Does CSK’s fate today rest on Dhoni’s availability? Or can CSK lock in a top two spot even if he misses this game?

Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, have won six out of their last seven games. Even better, they have won two home games in a row, where they were struggling earlier in the season. The slow-low track at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium took time to adjust to, and now they will play at a ground that is also slow, low and spin-friendly. DC can make a big statement with a good performance today, especially considering they haven’t played in the playoffs for a number of seasons?

Key to a CSK win

CSK have the lowest scoring rate in the powerplay (6.4). This increases to just 6.9 in the middle overs. This has caught up with them a little in recent matches, losing two matches without MS Dhoni and nearly winning vs RCB after a whirlwind knock from the captain. With Faf du Plessis back in consideration for selection, the onus is on he and Shane Watson to provide a sharp start for CSK. Of course, this is no easy task against IPL 2019’s premier bowler Kagiso Rabada, so CSK have to target other bowlers. Then, can the likes of Kedar Jadhav and Ambati Rayudu play with some impetus after a tournament of slow scoring by them both? What about Suresh Raina?

Also, can CSK overcome DC’s dangerous top order? Shikhar Dhawan has turned his tournament around and Prithvi Shaw continues to threaten without going on. This places onus on powerplay specialist Deepak Chahar to come up with the goods early. Then, against a hard-hitting middle order, CSK can look to build pressure with Dwayne Bravo and their spinners. Can CSK put on a better showing in the field?

Key to a DC win

Shikhar Dhawan’s transformation has played a key role in DC’s success in recent times. His duck against RCB at the Chinnaswamy was the turning point for him, since scoring 299 runs in six matches at 59.80. This includes three straight half-centuries, which makes him a key man in this clash. Onus is also on Prithvi Shaw to convert his starts, setting a platform for the likes of Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant and new death-over specialist Sherfane Rutherford. Can DC’s batsmen get the better of CSK’s attack on a slow, turning track?

Also, can Kagiso Rabada further increase CSK’s powerplay woes? He has been superb for DC this season, and can create more joy with early wickets. Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson are two danger men to get the better of, and with the CSK middle order up-and-down, DC can employ their spin to build pressure. If Dhoni is indeed fit to play, DC need to ensure he is under pressure to get CSK across the line. The same applies to the likes of Dwayne Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja (if picked).
