REN vs HUR Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report: BBL 2021/22 Match 26 | REN vs HUR Dream11 Prediction Today | Renegades vs Hurricanes Key Players | Docklands Pitch Report

The Hobart Hurricanes, courtesy mainly of the brilliant Ben McDermott, are starting to flex their muscle in BBL 11. The men in purple have won their last two matches after a rocky start to the season, and a very winnable match awaits them in the second of two matches today.

McDermott has been outstanding since shifting to opener, providing the impetus that was missing when D’Arcy Short was struggling at the top. Also, the Hurricanes’ attack is starting to click into gear, with a settled pace attack performing well as a unit in the last couple of matches.

Their journey now takes them to Melbourne where they play the struggling Melbourne Renegades. Sitting at the bottom of the table, the Renegades have won just one of six matches so far this season, and desperately need to win this one to stay in touch with the top five. Kane Richardson is set to return in a boost for the franchise, but they need a complete team effort if they are to beat an in-form Hurricanes side.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

Melbourne Renegades:

  • Aaron Finch has a superb record against the Hurricanes. In 11 matches for the Renegades aganinst Hobart, Finch has struck 428 runs at an average of 42.80 and strike rate of 135.87.
  • Also, Finch by far has the most T20 runs at Marvel Stadium with 1,198 runs at an average of 41.31 and strike rate of 136.76.
  • Sam Harper also has a solid record vs Hurricanes. The keeper-batsman has scored 143 runs in six innings at an average of 35.75 and strike rate of 134.91, including 66* off 52 balls last season.
  • Nic Maddinson is key to the Renegades’ hopes. He has struck 241 career runs vs Hurricanes at an average of 24.10 and strike rate of 134.64. Also, he scored a fine 67 two games ago vs Scorchers on this ground.
  • Kane Richardson has taken the most wickets for any Renegades bowler vs Hurricanes. The seamer has seven wickets to his name in five games against them (avg. 26.43, econ. 9.82). Also, Richardson has taken nine wickets in just four matches this season, and has the most wickets of any bowler on this ground (25 wickets in 17 matches, avg. 19.96, econ. 7.68).
  • Renegades need Zahir Khan to deliver. He has taken eight wickets in five matches this season.

Hobart Hurricanes:

  • The move to put Ben McDermott as opener has worked wonders for the Hurricanes. He has smashed 67 (43) and 110* (60) in his last two matches, with a beautiful exhibition of batting on both occasions.
  • In even better news for Hurricanes fans, McDermott has an outstanding record vs Renegades. He has struck 416 runs in eight matches at a supreme average of 104.00 and strike rate of 152.38. This includes a score of 114 (52) on this ground in one of the all-time great BBL matches back in 2017.
  • Skipper Matthew Wade is going through a bit of a quiet patch with scores of 4, 13, 39 and 6 in his last four matches. Hurricanes will be hoping today is the day he fires against a team whom he strikes at 193.98 against since 2017 (161 runs, avg. 32.20).
  • D’Arcy Short is working hard to find his best form, but he is still in the runs. He has struck 201 runs this season at an average of 40.20 and strike rate of 105.78.
  • Short will be looking to improve on his record vs Renegades that reads: 7 inns, 172 runs, avg. 24.57, SR 124.67.
  • Riley Meredith, who took 3/37 last game vs Strikers, has the most wickets in Hurricanes-Renegades matches with nine scalps in five matches (avg. 17.67, econ. 8.83).
  • Tom Rogers is the Hurricanes’ leading wicket-taker this season (nine, avg. 16, econ. 7.57). Nathan Ellis, who has five wickets in four matches vs Renegades, is not far behind with eight wickets in six matches in BBL 11.

Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 13, Renegades 7, Hurricanes 6.
  • Both sides have won two games each against each other on this ground.
  • Hurricanes have won four of the last five matches between the teams.

Melbourne Renegades: 1. Aaron Finch, 2. Sam Harper (wk), 3. Mackenzie Harvey, 4. Nic Maddinson (c), 5. Mohammad Nabi, 6. Jake Fraser-McGurk, 7. Will Sutherland/Jack Prestwidge, 8. Kane Richardson, 9. James Pattinson, 10. Reece Topley, 11. Zahir Khan

Hobart Hurricanes have named their squad. They should stick with the same XI that beat the Strikers.

Hobart Hurricanes: 1. Matthew Wade (c & wk), 2. Ben McDermott, 3. D’Arcy Short, 4. Harry Brook, 5. Tim David, 6. Peter Handscomb, 7. Jordan Thompson, 8. Nathan Ellis, 9. Tom Rogers, 10. Riley Meredith, 11. Sandeep Lamichhane

Marvel Stadium Docklands Pitch Report and Weather

Melbourne Renegades scored 151 and 153 when batting first on this ground this season. Perth Scorchers scored 206 when they had the chance.

It is a pretty good batting surface at Docklands so far this season, with teams packed with powerful players benefitting so far. Even the Renegades, who have struggled to score big in BBL 11, struck 185 when chasing two games ago vs Scorchers.

Weather is not an issue at this ground as it has a roof.
