Cricket News: A look at why Australia opted to leave Jake Fraser-McGurk out of the initial 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup
Young gun Jake Fraser-McGurk has been left out of Australia’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. The move may come as a surprise to many given Fraser-McGurk’s incredible form over the past eight months, which includes the fastest-ever List A century and 259 runs from his first six IPL matches at a strike rate of 233.33.
However, Australia opted for experience in the initial 15-man squad. The tournament will be David Warner’s farewell from international cricket, while all-rounders Cameron Green, Marcus Stoinis and captain Mitch Marsh have all been selected.
Australia’s squad for the T20 World Cup: No Jake Fraser-McGurk
Mitch Marsh (c), Ashton Agar, Pat Cummins, Tim David, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade, David Warner, Adam Zampa.
The call to leave Fraser-McGurk out is sure to split opinion. The 22-year-old has been outstanding, but his lack of experience on the kind of slow pitches expected in the West Indies and USA, plus Australia’s top order options, have ultimately resulted in the selectors opting for more seasoned players.
George Bailey, chair of the selection panel, mentioned the fact that Fraser-McGurk is yet to play a T20 International. Also, Bailey is unsure of Fraser-McGurk’s middle order credentials.
“His [McGurk] form’s been great of late, and that’s fantastic, but the way we’re functioning at the top of the order with the three guys we’ve had there has been really strong as well.
“I’m not sure how much work he’s done in other positions, but it certainly looks like the top of the order is where he’s best suited,” Bailey said.
The chairman of selectors also spoke of other players who were strongly considered. Australia, like other teams, do have the option of changing their squad in the next few weeks should a need arise.
“Steve Smith, Matt Short, Jason Behrendorff, Aaron Hardie, Spencer Johnson and Xavier Bartlett were all part of long conversations, along with several others including Jake Fraser-McGurk, who is yet to play T20 International cricket but continues to impress and is developing rapidly.”
“Being constrained to a squad of 15 for World Cups is always a challenge given the different scenarios and options we’d like to cover,” he continued. “We will continue monitoring several players who have missed out on this preliminary squad and note that if we wish to change this squad, we have the option to do so over the coming weeks in accordance with ICC regulations.
“Ultimately the balance of the final 15 needs to provide the best chance of being successful in this campaign.”
Australia’s T20 World Cup campaign will kick off against Oman in Barbados on June 5. Also in Australia’s group are England, Namibia, and Scotland. The top two teams will advance through to the Super Eight stage.
KKR vs DC Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report: IPL 2024 47th Match | KKR vs DC Dream11 Prediction Today | Eden Gardens Pitch Report
Another mammoth total coming up in this crazy edition of the IPL? It is certainly shaping up that way. Not only is Eden Gardens a batting paradise, but both Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals are smashing huge totals.
Last time out, Punjab made a mockery of KKR’s 261. Delhi, courtesy of Jake Fraser-McGurk’s whirlwind 84 off 27 balls, slammed 257/4 against MI. All signs are pointing to more runs, so it’s on the bowlers to hold their own as best as they can.
In terms of the IPL 2024 points table, this is a crucial match. DC can actually overtake KKR on points with a win here, which is vital for Rishabh Pant’s team as this is already their 11th match. KKR’s strong net run rate of 0.972 – the best in the league – puts them in second but need to keep winning with four other teams on 10.
IPL 2024 47th Match: KKR vs DC Possible Playing XIs
Mitchell Starc may return after missing the PBKS match due to a finger injury. For DC, David Warner (finger) and Ishant Sharma (back spasms) are unavailable. Prithvi Shaw may return after illness.
Fantasy Cricket Tips for KKR vs DC: Key Players to Watch/Key Stats
Kolkata Knight Riders:
Sunil Narine continues to amaze. Not only has he smashed 357 runs this season at a strike rate of 184.02, but he is conceding just 6.96 per over.
Narine hammered 85 off 39 and took 1/29 against DC earlier this season.

Since the start of 2015, Andre Russell has smashed 375 runs against DC at an average of 37.50 and strike rate of 172.81. He also has 15 wickets.
Varun Chakravarthy enjoys playing DC. He has taken 14 wickets in just eight matches at an average of 17.57 and economy of 7.69.
Chakravarthy has dismissed Prithvi Shaw three times in 25 balls, conceding 37. He also has overall figures of 2/27 off 26 balls against Rishabh Pant.
Delhi Capitals:
Jake Fraser-McGurk has been nothing short of extraordinary. He is a genuine captaincy/vice-captaincy option in fantasy teams as he has already slammed 22 sixes in just five games.
Fraser-McGurk is striking at 252.08 in the powerplay and 237.50 overall this season.
Rishabh Pant is DC’s leading run-scorer this season (371) with a strike rate of 160.60. Tristan Stubbs is next with 273 at a magnificent strike rate of 192.25.
Pant has smashed 52 off 24 against Andre Russell in the IPL. However, Russell has dismissed him thrice.
Khaleel Ahmed has dismissed Sunil Narine twice in 16 balls (26 runs). This is a matchup DC will be hoping goes their way today.
Another matchup is Kuldeep Yadav vs. Andre Russell. Kuldeep has conceded just four in 10 balls against him, with one dismissal.
Kuldeep also has the fourth-most wickets of any bowler in T20s at Eden Gardens: 22 inns, 24 wickets, SR 19.58.
Other Stats, Facts & Matchups
Head-to-head: Matches 34, KKR 17, DC 16, N/R 1.

Runs, runs, and more runs. 220 has been breached in each of the last three games, with KKR’s 223 chased by RR and 261 chased by PBKS in extraordinary fashion. In the other match, RCB fell short of KKR’s 222 by just one run.
Expect another batting paradise in very hot conditions with dew likely in the second innings.

GT vs RCB Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Fantasy Cricket Tips for 45th Match of IPL 2024 | GT vs RCB Dream11 Prediction Today Match | Ahmedabad Pitch Report
Royal Challengers Bengaluru have shown great signs of fight as they bettered Sunrisers and were just short of a run against Knight Riders in their previous two games. However, they are still placed at the base of the points table with just a couple of wins out of nine games. One of the most loved teams would hope to continue their momentum and win something more than just hearts here.
On the other hand, Gujrat Titans are coming with a loss in their last game to DC where they almost got to the mark. The promising Ashish Nehra side has looked mediocre at times this season with four wins in nine games. With the playoffs doors still open, they have got a lot to play for in this game as well.
IPL 2024 45th Match: GT vs RCB Possible Playing XIs
It will be interesting to see if GT introduces Kartik Tyagi.
Gujarat Titans: 1. Wriddhiman Saha (wk), 2. Shubman Gill, 3. Sai Sudharsan, 4. Azmatullah Omarzai (OS), 5. David Miller (OS), 6. Shahrukh Khan, 7. Rahul Tewatia, 8. Rashid Khan (OS), 9. R Sai Kishore, 10. Noor Ahmad (OS), 11. Sandeep Warrier, 12. Kartik Tyagi/Mohit Sharma
Royal Challengers Bengaluru: 1. Virat Kohli, 2. Faf du Plessis (c, OS), 3. Will Jacks/Glenn Maxwell (OS), 4. Rajat Patidar, 5. Cameron Green (OS), 6. Dinesh Karthik (wk), 7. Mahipal Lomror, 8. Swapnil Singh, 9. Karn Sharma, 10. Mohammed Siraj, 11. Lockie Ferguson (OS), 12. Yash Dayal
Fantasy Cricket Tips for GT vs RCB: Key Players to Watch/Key Stats
Gujarat Titans:
Shubman Gill makes life difficult for the bowlers when it comes to Ahmedabad. He’s got 833 runs here with an average of 64 and strike rate 159. Against RCB, he averages 41 and strikes at 149.
Gill vs Siraj : 55 runs, 33 balls, 0 dismissal.
The silent warrior of GT, Sai Sudharsan is the top run scorer for his side with 334 runs thus far. He has eight 30+ scores in nine games this season. At Ahmedabad, he averages 46.
Rashid Khan is having a decent season as an allrounder. The talisman has already won a game for his side with his batting and fell just short while repeating that masterclass. With the ball, he has 15 scalps against RCB thus far.
In T20s, Rashid has been successful to send both Faf and DK back to the dugout thrice in 45 and 29 balls respectively.
R Sai Kishore can be a differential fantasy pick. He was introduced in bowling very late in the last game but his left arm spin is a work of art with an uncanny accuracy. He took four wickets against PBKS and can be a threat to RCB batting lineup who have tradition to collapse against a left arm orthodox bowlers.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru:
RCB legend Virat Kohli has scored 430 runs this season and is the current Orange Cap holder. 101, 73, 58 are his scores against GT, and no doubt he will again go all guns blazing at them.
Rajat Patidar’s approach in last two games hasn’t been about just the runs but is about shifting momentum of game towards his side. 50( 20) & 52 (23) are his scores in the last two games where he showed marvelous hitting.
Against GT, he has played just one game before wherein he smashed 52 (32).
Cameron Green is doing a fine job since his return into the XI. Ahmedabad is one of his favorite Indian stadiums where he has smashed a Test hundred. In T20s, he has scored 63 here averaging 31.5. With the ball, he is second highest wicket taker for his side with 6 scalps this season.
If Glenn Maxwell gets a game here he will surely look to make it count. He has a SR of 204 and average of 42 playing against GT.
Mohammed Siraj hasn’t been at his best recently but on his day, he becomes unplayable. RCB management and fans are waiting for that day to come. He has taken five wickets in this season.
Miller vs Siraj: Runs 3, Balls 6, Dismissal 2.
Other Stats, Facts & Matchups
Head to head: Matches 3, GT 2, RCB 1.
In all these three games, the chasing team has won the match.
Faf du Plessis vs Noor Ahmad: 10 runs off 9 balls with 2 dismissals.
Green vs Noor Ahmad: 38 runs off 22 balls with 1 dismissal.
Gill vs Karn Sharma: 4 runs off 4 balls with 1 dismissal.
Saha vs Siraj: 37 runs off 35 balls with 3 dismissals.
Dinesh Karthik vs GT: Innings 3, Runs 4, Balls 6, Average 2.
Narendra Modi Ahmedabad Pitch Report and Weather
The pitch at Ahmedabad has behaved differently in the four games played here. Average first innings score here is 155 and chasing teams have won three out of four games.
The ball is expected to grip and hence help spinners in the later half. Hot weather is expected with the temperature of 36+. Captain winning the toss might like to break the trend and choose to bat first in a warm pre-evening time.

The way this match transpires may ultimately depend on the pitch. If it’s the kind of surface we’ve often seen at Chepauk this season, expect a run-fest. Such an encounter makes SRH very difficult to contend with, so we may very well see a slower surface should CSK see that as their best chance of victory.
There are lots of matchups to look forward to. The plethora of 250+ scores is always a chance of continuing in a game such as this, but both teams have some quality bowlers to turn to. This one should be a cracking game indeed.
IPL 2024 46th Match: CSK vs SRH Possible Playing XIs
CSK could retain the same XII. For SRH, Glenn Phillips is an option for Aiden Markram.
Sunrisers Hyderabad: 1. Travis Head (OS), 2. Abhishek Sharma, 3. Aiden Markram/Glenn Phillips (OS), 4. Heinrich Klaasen (wk, OS), 5. Abdul Samad, 6. Nitish Kumar Reddy, 7. Shahbaz Ahmed, 8. Pat Cummins (c, OS), 9. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 10. Jaydev Unadkat, 11. Mayank Markande, 12. T Natarajan
Fantasy Cricket Tips for CSK vs SRH: Key Players to Watch/Key Stats
Chennai Super Kings:
Ruturaj Gaikwad is fresh off a magnificent century on this ground in the last game against LSG. The CSK captain has excellent numbers against SRH: 6 inns, 296 runs, avg. 49.33, SR 145.81.
Ravindra Jadeja averages 30+ with the bat against SRH. However, he has just eight wickets in 20 innings against them. He did take 3/22 against them last season.
Jadeja will be vital against SRH’s hard-hitting middle order. He has overall figures of 1/31 off 25 balls against Aiden Markram in T20s.
Shivam Dube continues to fire. He will be key once again. His 311 runs this season come at a strike rate of 169.94, including 34 off 15 balls against legspin.
Can Deepak Chahar break the dangerous SRH opening stand early? He has dismissed Abhishek Sharma twice in eight balls (16 runs).
Matheesha Pathirana is striking every 10.90 deliveries this season (11 wickets). Mustafizur Rahman is CSK’s leading wicket-taker in IPL 2024 with 12.
Sunrisers Hyderabad:
If Travis Head gets going, watch out. He has struck 325 runs in IPL 2024 at an extraordinary strike rate of 212.41.
Abhishek Sharma is not far behind with 288 runs at a strike rate of 218.18. He smashed 37 off 12 balls against CSK earlier this season.
Heinrich Klaasen strikes at just 100 in three matches vs CSK (34 runs). In a game where spin could play a vital role, Klaasen will be key with his strike rate of 211.5 against the spinners in all T20s this year.
If the pitch is on the slower side, watch out for Pat Cummins’ cutters into the pitch. The SRH captain has taken at least one wicket in seven of the eight matches so far in IPL 2024.
T Natarajan is SRH’s leading wicket-taker this season (12). He has also picked up nine wickets in five innings overall against CSK, including Ruturaj Gaikwad twice in 21 balls (34 runs).
Other Stats, Facts & Matchups
Head-to-head: Matches 21, CSK 15, SRH 6.
CSK have won all four matches against SRH at Chepauk.
CSK could try Moeen Ali with his offspin in the powerplay. RCB’s Will Jacks dismissed Travis Head early in the last match.
Shardul Thakur has dismissed Heinrich Klaasen twice in 11 balls in the IPL (16 runs).
Aiden Markram struck a 36-ball 50 against CSK earlier this season.
MA Chidambaram Stadium Chepauk Pitch Report and Weather
It will be fascinating to see how the pitch plays. A flat surface plays into SRH’s hands, so there is a possibility of the kind of slow wicket we saw in the CSK-KKR game earlier in IPL 2024.
200 has been breached three times in for games this season. If the pitch is true, expect another high-scoring game. Another warm and clear evening is forecast.

Cricket News: IPL 2024 has been filled with high scoring matches with boundaries galore. But, are fans enjoying them?
Before the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), debates were rife on which teams will make the playoffs and who will go on to win the title.
Fast forward to late April, and debates have shifted to the huge totals. From 2008 to 2022, there was only one 250+ score. Since the start of 2023, there have been nine, including Delhi’s 257/4 barely hours after Punjab Kings sealed an extraordinary chase of 262 with 10 balls to spare in Kolkata thanks to wonderful batting by Jonny Bairstow, Prabhsimran Singh, and Shashank Singh.
The 2024 edition of the IPL has been like no other. Records have tumbled one after the other. The match between KKR and PBKS saw 42 sixes, the most ever in any T20 match. The previous highest was 38 by MI and SRH last month, as well as RCB and SRH just last week.
Also, the 523 runs in total was the second-highest ever in T20s. The highest? 549 between RCB and SRH in Bengaluru earlier this season where the hosts made a measly 262 in response to Hyderabad’s 287.
The key issue here is should there be more of a balance in terms of the pitches? Is the impact player rule skewing things too much in favour of the batters? Is it better to have the odd high-scoring game instead of one seemingly every day?
Debate: What do fans think of the high scoring matches in IPL 2024?
These questions are cause for debates on social media, with arguments for and against the big totals. Here is a look at both. Which side are you on?
Arguments against plethora of regular huge totals
Those against the glut of run-fests believe there needs to be more of a balance. Thrilling contests where both parties can have a say make for the most memorable ones. Also, fans are calling for the impact player rule to be removed next season.
“Sixes were cool and exciting because they were rare. But when every ball is going into the stands, it becomes boring,” one fan tweeted. “Maybe I’m not the right audience, but for me there’s no fun watching 250 games everyday.”
250 being scored regularly in the IPL is doing permanent damage to cricket. There is absolutely no balance between bat and ball today. https://t.co/5edPikpGzo
There should be an even contest between bat and ball in T20s.
This year's IPL has been a one way traffic. At first we felt wow by seeing high scoring matches but now it's getting out of control. Even 250 looks like a mediocre target in this IPL!!
MI scored 195 in 14.3 overs in 2014 when they really had to do it, these high scores are just a result of the mental shift towards agressive cricket more than because of the impact player rule imo
Cricket's meant for 11 players, and that's how it should stay. This impact player substitute rule is simply unnecessary and damaging. It should be revoked next year.
Once in a while if 250+ is scored it’s fun but not regularly. If every batsman scores against every other bowler it no longer matters who is a better batsman or a bowler as the very contest between bat and ball is lost. As a true cricket lover this is no longer fun
Those in favour of the high-scoring matches believe entertainment is the main ingredient in the IPL and T20 as a whole. Also, the argument is that bowlers need to find ways to adapt. Case in point is the likes of Sunil Narine and Jasprit Bumrah still performing brilliantly.
Watch test cricket ma'am if you want bowlers friendly matches. If you want batter friendly then shift to t20s. There's no in between as simple as that. Cricket has changed. Now Everyone understands how to crack power hitting if you'd enough money, infrastructure to practise
Yes I mean isnt this what every expert wanted? Players to score 4 and 6s and not playing dot balls.. Maximize power play If any batter used to anchor the innings they used to get hate . So why is this question?
people should realise its not cricket, its a different sport altogether now that its realising its full potential. a sport where bowlers are largely irrelevant. there are two other formats for balance.
Theyre completely enjoyable thats the reason this format introduced for isn't it? Its introduced for fast/quick entertainment Have to agree and appreciate this IPL for providing unimaginable sport display & entertainment if u love cricket that much why not support test cricket?
KKR vs PBKS Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Fantasy Cricket Tips for 42nd Match of IPL 2024 | KKR vs PBKS Dream11 Prediction Today | Eden Gardens Pitch Report
Royal Challengers Bengaluru won their must-win match last night. Now, it’s Punjab Kings’ turn to do the same. Their past five matches have gone down to the final over, but crucially they have only been able to win one. They have lost four in a row and desperately need a turnaround if they are any chance of making a run to the playoffs.
It certainly won’t be an easy task today. They face high-flying Kolkata Knight Riders who can consolidate a top-two spot with victory here. Last time, they held on by the skin of their teeth to beat RCB by one run in a high-scoring encounter, so the spotlight is on the bowlers, especially Mitchell Starc, to ask more questions of the opposition lineup.
IPL 2024 42nd Match: KKR vs PBKS Possible Playing XIs

SRH vs RCB Twitter Reactions – Bengaluru finally end winning drought | RCB beat SRH to break six-game losing drought in IPL 2024
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) hammered a record 287 just 10 days ago at the M Chinnaswamy, soon before smashing 125 in the powerplay alone in Delhi. So, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) had to bat first if they won the toss to give themselves the best chance of breaking their six-game drought.
That they did. Headlined by the talented Rajat Patidar’s 20-ball 50 and Cameron Green’s 20-ball 37*, RCB hit 206/7 to hand the test over to SRH. Despite a very fast start from Abhishek Sharma, Faf du Plessis’ team prevailed after picking up four wickets in the powerplay and six inside 10 overs to pretty much end SRH’s challenge in this contest.
Captain du Plessis labelled it as a “massive relief” as the team has “shown great signs of fight” in the last two games.
“The SRH game was 270-plus and we got to 260, then the KKR game as well, just one run. It was almost a record chase,” du Plessis said.
“We’ve been close for a while but you need to win matches to get confidence back in the group. It’s a massive relief. No matter where we are, when you’re not winning it does affect you, it does affect you mentally, it does affect your confidence. I will sleep a bit easier tonight.”
SRH vs RCB Twitter Reactions – Excellent Rajat Patidar leads Royal Challengers Bengaluru to win
The victory keeps their very slim playoff hopes alive, while SRH missed the opportunity to consolidate their top four spot. The memes and analyses were aplenty as RCB finally picked up a win.
Most of them will again call Patidar a spin basher. But he is also a fine shot-maker v pace bowling. You like him or not, he is an attractive batter to watch.
Pleased for all RCB fans. They have been through a lot. Yes they can’t go anywhere from here. But a win is a win. Hope they identify some core players to retain for next season.
Virat Kohli criticised for his 43-ball 51, Rajat Patidar praised for his match-changing knock
The debate around Virat Kohli’s T20 batting went up a notch. The opener started very well in the powerplay, hitting 23 off his first 11 balls. However, he then scored just 28 off his next 32 balls in a period that saw RCB slow down significantly after Rajat Patidar’s fine 20-ball 50 came to an end.
In the final analysis, RCB’s comfortable win is the most important thing. However, fans were quick to criticise the innings, particularly during the RCB innings.
A very outdated T20 innings …. These kind innings are not required in a flat pitch. I fear one of the greatest T20 batsman of all time, is not adapting to the new demands of the T20 format that is consistent power hitting !!
The way both Rohit and Virat slow down in the middle overs whether or not they get off to a quickfire start is a major area India will need to address during the T20 WC talks.
Else it could be a repeat of Adelaide 2022, expecting SKY and others to score at 15 Runs per over.
SRH vs RCB Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Fantasy Cricket Tips: 41st Match of IPL 2024 | SRH vs RCB Dream11 Prediction Today | Hyderabad Pitch Report
Everytime Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, and indeed the SRH team, walk out on the field to bat, they make believe that any score is possible. They are redefining modern day cricket as a theatre of courage, innovation and intent. With the South African pair of dynamos to follow, along with the domestic talents, Sunrisers Hyderabad are mighty hard to stop.
On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bengaluru have had one of their poorest campaigns to date as their last win came exactly a month ago. Sometimes they have been totally outplayed, and other times they were unlucky, but the facts are they have absolutely no more room for error. The side is coming off a one-run defeat in their last encounter, but they must put the disappointment aside and get back on track.
The batting department for both sides has been excellent, but concerns remain over the bowling. Nevertheless, fans are once again going to be entertained with the battle of boundaries at Hyderabad.

Along with captaincy, Pat Cummins has been excellent with the ball too. He has taken nine wickets thus far conceding runs at just 8 RPO in all high scoring games. Playing against RCB, he has taken 11 wickets in eight outings.

Captain Faf du Plessis (239 runs) has been decent as well. He has scored 546 runs against SRH and averages 46. If RCB has to do well, this South African Maestro needs to step up and lead with another example.
Cameron Green made his return to the team in the last game with 2/35 with the ball. But he is yet to fire with the bat and RCB would hope him to go well against SRH. He has scored 164 runs at SR of 188.5 & importantly he is unbeaten against SRH thus far.

DC vs GT Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Fantasy Cricket Tips for 40th Match of IPL 2024 | DC vs GT Dream11 Prediction Today | Delhi Pitch Report
April 17 saw a rare occurrence in IPL 2024. The bowlers had the biggest say as Delhi Capitals rolled Gujarat Titans for just 89 in Ahmedabad, leading to a big six-wicket win with 67 balls to spare.
However, DC then conceded 125 in the powerplay in their next outing against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The huge swing has been reflective of their season to date, with the ridiculous mixed with the sublime. However, there are positives, with young guns Jake Fraser-McGurk and Tristan Stubbs the two who could take DC to a win today.
For GT, they are chugging along but their batting remains a worry. They got over the line against Punjab Kings a few nights ago, but they need more in what is expected to be another belter of a batting pitch in Delhi.
IPL 2024 40th Match: DC vs GT Possible Playing XIs
Gujarat Titans: 1. Shubman Gill (c), 2. Wriddhiman Saha (wk), 3. B Sai Sudharsan, 4. Azmatullah Omarzai (OS), 5. David Miller (OS), 6. Shahrukh Khan, 7. Rahul Tewatia, 8. Rashid Khan (OS), 9. R Sai Kishore, 10. Umesh Yadav, 11. Noor Ahmad (OS), 12. Mohit Sharma
Fantasy Cricket Tips for DC vs GT: Key Players to Watch/Key Stats
Delhi Capitals:
Excitement machine Jake Fraser-McGurk is a potential captaincy pick in Dream11. He has smashed 55 (35), 20 (10) and 65 (18) in his first three IPL matches.
In nine T20s this year, Fraser-McGurk has scored 331 runs at an average of 36.78 and strike rate of 176.06.
Can David Warner find his best form? He has a great record against Mohit Sharma: 48 balls, 90 runs, one dismissal.
Rishabh Pant is DC’s leading run-scorer this season with 254 at a strike rate of 150.29. Tristan Stubbs is next with 199 at a superb strike rate of 180.90.
Seamers Khaleel Ahmed (1/18) and Mukesh Kumar (3/14) were too good for GT last week. Ishant Sharma, if fit, will also be important as he took 2/8.
Khaleel has dismissed Shubman Gill twice in 27 balls in the IPL (42 runs). Anrich Nortje has even better numbers against Gill, with three dismissals at an average of 11.30.
Gujarat Titans:
Shubman Gill is GT’s leading run-scorer this season with 298 at an average of 42.57 and strike rate of 146.79. If he gets past his shaky matchups early, watch out.
Sai Sudharsan’s strike rate is in the spotlight. But, he has been a consistent scorer with seven 30+ scores in eight matches this season.
David Miller in T20s on this ground: 12 inns, 257 runs, avg. 36.71, SR 123.56. Miller has struck 17 runs off just five balls against Mukesh Kumar.
Rahul Tewatia as a differential pick in fantasy? He has been strong again in the finishing department, hitting four 20+ scores in his last five matches. He is striking at 144 overall this season.
Expect Rashid Khan to be used early against Rishabh Pant. The DC captain has been dismissed three times by legspin this season.
Umesh Yadav against David Warner promises to be an interesting battle. Warner has scored 99 off 68, but Umesh has dismissed him five times.
Other Stats and Facts
Head-to-head: Matches 4, DC 2, GT 2.
Gujarat Titans (163/4) beat Delhi Capitals (162/8) with 10 balls to spare on this ground last season. Rashid Khan took 3/31 and Sai Sudharsan scored 62* (48).
Mohit Sharma is GT’s leading wicket-taker this year (10) and strikes every 16 balls on average on this ground.
Prithvi Shaw has scored just 24 runs in three matches against GT so far.
Arun Jaitley Stadium Delhi Pitch Report and Weather
New surface, plenty of runs. Sunrisers Hyderabad hammered 266 on this ground last week, with 125 coming in the powerplay alone. Delhi Capitals responded with 199. Expect another excellent batting pitch.
There were thunderstorms on the eve of the game. However, conditions should be hot and clear for this match. Dew is a possibility.

Cricket News: Reactions to the 38th match of IPL 2024 between RR and MI – Sandeep 5/18, Jaiswal 104* and Mumbai Indians criticised
For the second time this season, Rajasthan Royals made light work of the Mumbai Indians. Led by Sandeep Sharma and Trent Boult, MI lost three wickets in the powerplay, and were only able to reach a respectable 179/9 courtesy of youngsters Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera.
However, the total was not a threat. Yashasvi Jaiswal (104* off 60 balls) made his first big contribution of IPL 2024, thumping the struggling MI attack to all parts, helped also by some awful fielding. He and Jos Buttler combined for 74 in the first eight overs, before Sanju Samson (38* off 28 balls) ensured there were no hiccups.
Earlier, man of the match Sandeep Sharma put on a clinic. His length was impeccable in the powerplay and he then finished the innings strongly as MI had visions of 190+. It is another fine episode in the story that is Sandeep’s IPL career, where he has often contributed to the team’s cause through great use of his skills.
For MI, the defeat put a dagger in their playoff hopes. They have won just three of eight games so far, beating teams only below them on the table, namely Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. They barely fired a shot, with their fielding and Hardik Pandya’s captaincy in the spotlight.
RR vs MI Reactions: High-flying Royals smash Mumbai Indians by nine wickets with 10 balls to spare as Yuzvendra Chahal takes 200th IPL wicket
Seven wins may be enough to sneak into the playoffs. Rajasthan Royals have already won those amount of matches. They are showing no signs of slowing down ahead of their showdown against LSG on Saturday.
Along with Sandeep and Jaiswal, Yuzvendra Chahal also had a night to remember despite going for 48 off his four overs. The legspinner became the first bowler to take 200 IPL wickets; an extraordinary achievement given he played so many games at the very batting-friendly M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Yuzvendra Chahal! The king of bowling in the IPL. Number 1👏
Centuries for Jaiswal and Buttler, Samson and Parag both near the top of the runs table, Hetmyer doing his job. Been so much fun watching the Royals bat this season https://t.co/RIzr0hZsJs
I don't think I've seen a bowler as limited as Sandeep Sharma stay relevant in the circuit for such a long period while excelling in diverse roles. Kudos to him.
A player like Jaiswal needs one or two fine shots to get going. Although Coetzee troubled him in his opening over, the six he smacked in that over would have given him confidence.
Started his career with Mumbai Indians and completed his 200th IPL wicket against Mumbai Indians. Chahal has come a long way. pic.twitter.com/QJpOb1yJw6
Sandeep Sharma one of the most underrated bowlers in #IPL history. Matches – 118 Wickets – 125 Econ – 7.86 S/R – 21.1 Today you can add 5/18 off 4 overs to the above.#RRvMI
– Unsold in the auction. – Came as a replacement in 2023. – Became the end over specialist. – Injured in the start of IPL 2024. – Came back into the team & got his first five wicket haul.
Sandeep Sharma is easily the most underrated IPL player. Goes about his job silently, is very brainy and a wicket-taker. 193 T20 wickets at 7.5 Economy. Not a bad idea to consider him for World T20, I think.
100%. This is exactly what I was thinking today. Sanju Samson played the best supportive knock to calm nerves after Buttler’s wicket. We’ve seen our side collapse after a good start many times in the past, Sanju playing this knock helped Jaiswal alot too. Our skipper 🩷#HallaBolhttps://t.co/Uz0E34MqW5pic.twitter.com/siYUvZAw4O
Mumbai Indians trolled and criticised for another under-par performance
Fans didn’t hold back in their views of the Mumbai Indians. It was another disappointing performance from a team that is only showing glimpses of their best form this season. Some fans have even asked for Rohit Sharma to be reinstated as captain.
Kevin Pietersen: 🗣️
" Cotzee bowled first over and Yashasvi Jaiswal was struggling against him then he didn't give him the second over. Poor captaincy again."#RRvMIpic.twitter.com/vFQR7vhgek
Sunil Gavaskar (on MI's fielding efforts) said, "I've been seeing Mumbai Indians since 2008, but this is not the team I know". pic.twitter.com/GsMgqeOx4Y
Hardik is currently not particularly doing any of the core disciplines of an all rounder overly sublime to warrant a cast iron spot in the Indian T20 WC team #RRvMI#IPL2024#T20WorldCup2024
Mumbai Indians 2024 is the best example of how clueless you can be without having a direction to walk towards, irrespective of your potential. Headless chickens, no leadership to follow Even when we’ve performed bad we knew the issues, here everything is an issue Boucher-Hardik👏
Nehal Wadhera was dropped without any reason. Don't know what Mumbai Indians management were thinking. Ruined our half season. pic.twitter.com/ZTrfYRi6JA
Chose to bat first in Jaipur with rain forecast, Coetzee troubled Jaiswal in the first over but didn't bowl again, gave Bumrah the ball when the game was already done. Another disaster.
