Which bowler is the fastest to 200 ODI wickets?

Cricket News: Which bowler is the fastest to 200 ODI wickets? | Bowlers who were the fastest to 200 ODI wickets

Mitchell Starc has written another chapter in the wonderful story that is his One Day International (ODI) career, breaking the quickest to reach 200 wickets in terms of matches played.

Starc blew Zimbabwe away in the second ODI in Townsville to reach 199 wickets in his 101st match. He achieved the feat in his 102nd, surpassing the previous record of 104 games held by Pakistan’s Saqlain Mushtaq.

Fastest to 200 ODI wickets

Below is the list of bowlers who were quickest to reach 200 ODI wickets, headed by Australia’s left-arm spearhead.

Mitchell Starc: 101 matches

Starc made his debut in 2010 against India, and he has been a prolific wicket-taker right throughout his ODI career. He has been particularly brilliant in World Cups, taking a combined 49 wickets in the 2015 and 2019 editions respectively. This includes some all-time classic moments against New Zealand in the group stage and Final of the 2015 tournament.

Saqlain Mushtaq: 104 matches

Starc went past legendary Pakistan spinner Saqlain Mushtaq. Saqlain pioneered mystery spin, mastering the art of the doosra to bamboozle many a batsman on his way to 288 ODI wickets in 169 matches at an average of just 21.78 and economy of 4.78.

Brett Lee: 112 matches

Starc’s fellow countryman, Brett Lee, achieved the feat in 112 matches. Lee is widely considered one of the greatest bowlers in the history of ODIs thanks to the combination of his remarkable speed and consistency.

Lee went on to take a superb 380 wickets in 221 matches at an average of 23.36 and economy rate of 4.76. He was particularly outstanding in the 2003 World Cup, playing a key role in helping Australia lift the trophy in South Africa.

Allan Donald: 117 matches

South Africa tearaway Allan Donald reached 200 wickets against Zimbabwe in the 1999 World Cup. The pace bowling legend achieved the feat in 117 matches, all part of his status as one of the Proteas’ best ever fast bowlers.

Donald finished his career with 272 wickets in 164 matches at a superb average of 21.78 and economy rate of just 4.15.

Waqar Younis: 118 matches

The great Waqar Younis was a master in ODI bowling. Not many could get the ball hooping around like he did, which made Pakistan a very competitive unit due to their ability to limit teams at the death.

Waqar finished his illustrious ODI career with 416 wickets in 262 matches at an average of 23.84 and superb economy rate of 4.68 considering the stages he often bowled in.

JAM vs GUY Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: CPL 2022 Match 4

JAM vs GUY Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: CPL 2022 Match 4 | JAM vs GUY Dream11 Prediction | St Kitts Pitch Report

Will this be the year Guyana Amazon Warriors finally go all the way? They have been the league’s nearly men over nine years, qualifying for the playoffs every season and finishing runners up an incredible five times.

CPL 2022 represents a new era of sorts. Shimron Hetmyer is the captain, and if leadership can bring out the best in him, Guyana could be in for a solid campaign. If the top order can set a platform, there are some wonderful hitters down the order that can capitalise at the death.

However, Guyana’s pace bowling stocks will certainly be tested by a confident Jamaica Tallawahs outfit. Life after Andre Russell started perfectly with victory over defending champions St Kitts, with Brandon King making a strong statement early in CPL 2022. Also, the bowling was efficient, limiting a strong St Kitts team to just 136.

JAM vs GUY Possible Playing XI

Jamaica could stick with the same XI that got the job done in their opening match.

Jamaica Tallawahs: 1. Brandon King, 2. Kennar Lewis, 3. Shamarh Brooks, 4. Amir Jangoo (wk), 5. Rovman Powell (c), 6. Fabian Allen, 7. Imad Wasim, 8. Chris Green, 9. Mohammad Amir, 10. Migael Pretorius, 11. Nicholson Gordon

Shimron Hetmyer will lead Guyana. Paul Stirling and Tabraiz Shamsi are currently at The Hundred.

Guyana Amazon Warriors: 1. Chandrapaul Hemraj, 2. Shai Hope (wk), 3. Colin Ingram, 4. Shimron Hetmyer (c), 5. Heinrich Klaasen, 6. Odean Smith, 7. Romario Shepherd, 8. Keemo Paul, 9. Gudakesh Motie, 10. Veerasammy Permaul/Ronsford Beaton, 11. Imran Tahir

JAM vs GUY Head-to-Head Stats and Key Players

Jamaica Tallawahs:

  • Brandon King started the new season with a player of the match 89 off 57 balls vs St Kitts. He will now come up against his former team.
  • Rovman Powell finished the innings well a few nights ago (30 off 15 balls). But, can the Jamaica captain improve on a poor record against Guyana? He has scored just 190 runs in 12 innings at an average of 17.27 and strike rate of 100.
  • Kennar Lewis also has poor numbers against Guyana (51 runs, avg. 10.20, SR 127.50). He comes into this game off a 46-ball 48 against St Kitts after a slow start.
  • Mohammad Amir took 11 wickets in seven matches last season at an average of 13.54 and economy of 6.12. He started CPL 2022 with a brilliant spell of 1/23 vs St Kitts.
  • Nicholson Gordon (3/32) and Migael Pretorius (2/35) combined for five wickets in the last match. Imad Wasim took 3/15 in his last match vs Guyana.

Guyana Amazon Warriors:

  • Will Shimron Hetmyer lead the way with the bat? He has a century against Jamaica, but just 120 runs in the other seven innings against them. Overall, he averages 27.50 with a great strike rate of 153.85.
  • However, Hetmyer has a poor record at St Kitts. He has scored 282 runs in 17 innings at an average of 18.80 and strike rate of 112.80.
  • Can Chandrapaul Hemraj (60 runs, avg. 12.00, SR 113.21) overcome a poor record against Jamaica? He does have a century in 12 T20s at St Kitts, but just 171 runs in the other 11 innings.
  • Henrich Klaasen will be key in the middle overs. He prefers to chase in T20s (avg. 34.38 in 48 innings) compared to batting first (avg. 24.24 in 60 innings).
  • The Odean Smith and Romario Shepherd combination with bat and ball is something to watch out for. Smith took figures of 3/21 and 3/20 against Jamaica last season, while Shepherd also took four wickets in the two games.
  • Also, Shepherd smashed a memorable 31-ball 72* in the last meeting between the teams.
  • Keemo Paul has taken eight wickets in six matches against Jamaica at an average of 17.00 and economy of 8.50.
  • Imran Tahir has taken 13 wickets in eight innings vs Jamaica since 2018 at an average of 12.38 and economy of 5.37. Tahir also loves bowling at St Kitts: 13 inns, 19 wickets, avg. 16.21, SR 15.79.

Other Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 23, Guyana 14, Jamaica 8, N/R 1.
  • Guyana won both matches between the teams last year, as well as eight of the last ten.
  • Promising spinner Gudakesh Motie has taken eight wickets in six T20s on this ground at an average of 15.50 and economy of 6.53.
  • Shai Hope in T20s at St Kitts: 14 inns, 179 runs, avg. 12.79, SR 112.58.

Warner Park Basseterre St Kitts Pitch Report and Weather

The average first innings score so far this season 158.33 at a run rate of 8.33. Jamaica struck 183/2 on this ground and are the only team to win batting first so far.

The forecast is for overcast conditions with the occasional shower. There should hopefully be enough game time for a result.

Looking to implement CSK culture at Johannesburg – Fleming

Cricket News: Looking to implement CSK culture at Johannesburg – Fleming | Stephen Fleming talks about the new CSA T20 league

Stephen Fleming wishes to take forward the values of continuity and deepening relationships whilst coaching the Johannesburg Super Kings (JSK) in the SA20. JSK is owned by the Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited (CSKCL), which is the holding company of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

CSKCL roped in Fleming and Faf du Plessis as the head coach and captain of JSK respectively. Fleming has donned the coach’s role for CSK since 2009 onwards. Faf is a franchise veteran, having played 100 games and won three IPL titles for them.

“When you get people that you feel really comfortable with, the environment and who you’re with, the culture develops a lot quicker. And once you start to get that cohesion and those connections, the longer you can stay together or the more often you can get together, we think there’s an advantage in that,” Fleming was quoted in a report by ESPNcricinfo.

He added, “Our relationships runs deep and it hurts when we lose players and it’s exciting when we gain new players but relationships are really important and the support staff have been together…the thread of CSK runs pretty deep.”

Take learnings from CSK into Johannesburg – Fleming

Fleming appreciated the ownership for creating a comfortable environment in which all the players perform optimally during their time with the franchise.

In fact, CSKCL have even retained the same support staff for their SA20 venture. Eric Simmons and Albie Morkel will be the assistant coaches whereas Tommy Simsek will be the physio. Russell Radhakrishnan and Gregory King will wear the manager and trainer’s hats respectively. Morkel is an outlier here as he hasn’t coached CSK in any capacity previously. However, the 41-year-old represented the franchise from 2008-13 and won two IPL titles with them.

The fast-paced Wanderers track will be the home ground of the JSK. It marks a stark shift from the spin-friendly pitches in Chepauk that the CSK is used to operating in. However, Fleming and company are viewing it as an opportunity to discard any notions of them being a one-trick pony. He explained that CSK hasn’t been playing out of Chennai in the past few seasons either and that modern players are versatile enough to adapt to different playing conditions.

“We’ve done that just to make it a little bit harder for ourselves to show that we’re not a one-trick pony, which is not a strategic play that Faf was very keen on. But there is some change and one of the skillsets of the modern-day cricketers is that they play on so many different conditions and they’re very versatile. There’s no doubt we created an advantage in Chennai but we haven’t had that for the last three-four years either,” Fleming opened up on the issue.

He added, “So there’s been some real learning about how to adapt to situations and environments as well as looking after home environment as well. So, the first year and the first few weeks are going to be really important. It’s a long-term plan, which is what we’d like to learn as much as we can from the day we touch down and get together.”

The auctions for SA20 will be held on 19th September. JSK named Faf, Moeen Ali, Maheesh Theekshana, Romario Shepherd and Gerald Coetzee as their first five signings in the league.

However, Moeen is most likely to opt out considering that he has also committed to the Sharjah Warriors in the ILT20. The SA20 is set to be held during January-February 2022 and its dates will clash with the newly-launched ILT20. JSK will get the option of signing an additional player in the auctions due to Moeen’s withdrawal, Cricbuzz reports.

PAK vs HK Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: Asia Cup 2022 Match 6

PAK vs HK Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: Asia Cup 2022 Match 6 | PAK vs HK Dream11 Prediction Today | Sharjah Pitch Report

As was the case in another Bangladesh-Sri Lanka thriller yesterday, the winner will go through to the Super 4 while the loser will leave the Asia Cup. If we get anything like the drama we saw in Dubai last night, we could be in for quite the ride with so much on the line.

That being said, Pakistan have enough depth and talent to get the job done. However, Hong Kong showed against India that they are here to offer a challenge, and they competed for much of the contest as Suryakumar Yadav proved to be the big difference. So, Babar Azam’s team can ill-afford to be complacent.

With a lack of T20I cricket this year, this is an important game for Pakistan. Their batting didn’t fire against India, but the bowlers fought well to come close to defending a sub-150 score. If they can combine both, they will join India, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka in the Super 4 stage with some form under their belt.

PAK vs HK Possible Playing XI

There is some doubt over whether Naseem Shah will play. The seamer struggled with cramps during his brilliant spell against India.

Pakistan: 1. Babar Azam (c), 2. Mohammad Rizwan (wk), 3. Fakhar Zaman, 4. Iftikhar Ahmed, 5. Khushdil Shah, 6. Shadab Khan, 7. Asif Ali, 8. Mohammad Nawaz, 9. Haris Rauf, 10. Naseem Shah/Mohammad Hasnain, 11. Shahnawaz Dahani

Hong Kong should stick with the same team that produced an encouraging performance against India.

Hong Kong: 1. Nizakat Khan (c), 2. Yasim Murtaza, 3. Babar Hayat, 4. Kinchit Shah, 5. Aizaz Khan, 6. Zeeshan Ali, 7. Scott McKechnie (wk), 8. Haroon Arshad, 9. Ehsan Khan, 10. Ayush Shuka, 11. Mohammad Ghazanfar

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

Pakistan:

  • Babar Azam will be after a big innings. In 12 T20 innings at Sharjah, the Pakistan captain has scored 380 runs at an average of 38.00 and strike rate of 121.79.
  • Mohammad Rizwan struggled at times against India (43 off 42 balls). He returns to a ground he has a good record at: 11 inns, 281 runs, avg. 40.14, SR 123.25.
  • Asif Ali has a strike rate of 164.14 in 14 innings at Sharjah (238 runs, avg. 29.75).
  • Naseem Shah was outstanding on T20I debut against India. If fit, he is sure to test the Hong Kong batsmen after dismissing KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav last match.
  • Mohammad Nawaz (3/33) also performed well vs India. The left-arm spinner will be looking to improve on his numbers at Sharjah: 15 inns, 11 wickets, avg. 39.00, SR 29.27.
  • Haris Rauf has taken eight wickets in just four matches at Sharjah (avg. 13.63, econ. 6.81).

Hong Kong:

  • Babar Hayat played nicely against India (41 off 35 balls). He has the second-most runs for Hong Kong in T20Is (799), with the best average of any player (29.59).
  • Yasim Murtaza scored the most runs in the Asia Cup Qualifier tournament (130) at an average of 43.33 and strike rate of 125.00. He also bowled economically against India (0/27). Key player.
  • Watch out for Zeeshan Ali and Haroon Arshad as key finishers with the bat for Hong Kong. Zeeshan struck 26* off 17 vs India and Haroon has the best strike rate of any Hong Kong player who has faced at least six balls in T20Is (137.82).
  • Ehsan Khan took the most wickets in the recent Qualifier tournament (9) at an average of 9.00 and economy of 6.75. Hong Kong’s second-highest wicket-taker in T20Is (39) was then economical against India (0/26).
  • Aizaz Khan has the most wickets for Hong Kong in T20Is: 48 inns, 58 wickets, avg. 19.56, SR 16.6.

Other Stats and Facts

  • This will be the first T20 International between Pakistan and Hong Kong.
  • The two teams have met in three ODIs in the 2004, 2008 and 2018 ODI Asia Cups. In 2018, Pakistan won easily by eight wickets after rolling Hong Kong for 116 in Dubai.
  • Babar Azam in T20s in 2022: 12 matches, 419 runs, avg. 38.09, SR 121.80.
  • Fakhar Zaman has a strike rate of 147.27 in 11 T20s at Sharjah. The left-hander has struck three fifties in these matches (total of 324 runs, avg. 29.45).
  • Shadab Khan has similar bowling numbers to Mohammad Nawaz in T20s at Sharjah: 15 inns, 12 wickets, avg. 28.58, SR 27.08.

Sharjah Pitch Report and Weather

The average first innings score in 21 T20s at Sharjah in 2021 was 143.85. The chasing team won 11, while the team batting first won 10. Last game, Bangladesh fought to get to 127 against Afghanistan’s spinners who found turn.

Another hot evening is forecast.

SLK vs TKR Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: CPL 2022 Match 2 | SLK vs TKR Dream11 Prediction Today | St Kitts Pitch Report

Day two of CPL 2022 is set to be a cracker. St Lucia Kings, who have reached the final in each of the past two seasons, will be hoping that third-time lucky applies this year.

To start off, they have arguably the toughest test in Trinbago Knight Riders. Four-time champions TKR, who have finished first in four of the past five seasons, look even stronger now with the addition of Andre Russell and Nicholas Pooran. It is a wonderful side on first glance, but as was the case with St Kitts, last night, you need to produce on the field.

SLK vs TKR Possible Playing XIs

David Wiese and Tim David played in The Hundred yesterday.

St Lucia Kings: 1. Johnson Charles (wk), 2. Faf du Plessis (c), 3. Mark Deyal, 4. Roston Chase, 5. Ackeem Auguste/Rivaldo Clarke, 6. Matthew Forde, 7. Roshon Primus, 8. Jeavor Royal, 9. Scott Kuggeleijn, 10. Alzarri Joseph, 11. Kesrick Williams

Trinbago are star-studded on paper with the addition of Nicholas Pooran and Andre Russell. Colin Munro is at The Hundred.

Trinbago Knight Riders: 1. Tion Webster, 2. Tim Seifert (wk), 3. Nicholas Pooran, 4. Kieron Pollard (c), 5. Andre Russell, 6. Sunil Narine, 7. Seekkuge Prasanna, 8. Ali Khan 9. Akeal Hosein, 10. Anderson Phillip, 11. Ravi Rampaul

SLK vs TKR head-to-head player stats and key players

St Lucia Kings:

  • Roston Chase had a season to remember in CPL 2021. The all-rounder scored the most runs (446) at an average of 49.55 and strike rate of 144.33. He scored 30* (24), 0 (5) and 36 (21) vs TKR.
  • Chase in T20s at Warner Park: 13 inns, 484 runs, avg. 53.78, SR 143.62.
  • Faf du Plessis has scored just 26 runs in four matches vs TKR. However, the SLK captain has the class to turn this around.
  • du Plessis averages 29.25 in 13 T20s at Warner Park (SR 129.04) and is averaging 29.67 in white-ball cricket in 2022 (SR 130.69).
  • Mark Deyal scored a memorable 78 (44) batting at number three in last year’s Semi Final against TKR.
  • Jeavor Royal is one to watch. The left-arm spinner has taken 14 wickets in 13 innings at an economy rate of just 7.67 (avg. 19.92, SR 15.5).
  • Kestick Williams has the most wickets of any bowler on this ground. The seamer has taken 34 wickets in just 18 T20s at an average of 13.88 and strike rate of 10.12.
  • Against TKR, Williams has 16 wickets in 11 innings.

Trinbago Knight Riders:

  • Tim Seifert vs SLK since the start of 2020: 6 inns, 139 runs, avg. 34.75, SR 143.30.
  • The Kieron PollardAndre Russell duo is expected to provide many fireworks. Pollard has smashed 550 runs in 19 innings at Warner Park at an average of 39.29 and strike rate of 156.26. Russell’s strike rate is an incredible 180.80 on this ground (499 runs, avg. 33.27).
  • Since 2019, Pollard has scored 148 runs vs SLK at an average of 29.60 and strike rate of 152.58. He also has taken nine wickets at an average of 16.78 and economy of 7.95.
  • Interestingly, though, Russell has scored just 158 runs in 12 innings vs SLK (avg. 19.75, SR 139.82).
  • Sunil Narine makes up a key part of an extremely strong TKR lineup. In 11 matches vs St Lucia since 2016, Narine has taken just the seven wickets at 34.71 (econ. 5.79). At Warner Park, Narine has the third-most wickets (25) at an average of 20.00 and ER of 5.32.
  • Ravi Rampaul took the most wickets in CPL 2021 (19) at an average of 16.21 and strike rate of 12.2. Seven of these 19 wickets came against St Lucia.

Other Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 18, SLK 4, TKR 14.
  • Johnson Charles vs TKR: 18 inns, 553 runs, avg. 29.61, SR 126.00.
  • Roston Chase took 10 scalps at an average of 26.30 and economy rate of 6.92 in CPL 2021. Given the wickets are on the slower side usually, the all-rounder will be key with the ball.
  • It’s a big season for Nicholas Pooran. He averages 27.67 in 16 innings vs SLK (332 runs) at a strike rate of 147.56.
  • Akeal Hosein at Warner Park: 15 inns, 16 wickets, avg. 18.19, econ. 5.39.
  • Alzarri Joseph has taken seven wickets in nine innings vs TKR.

Warner Park Basseterre St Kitts Pitch Report and Weather

Last night, Jamaica struck 183/2 but took a while to get going. In reply, St Kitts never got going, falling 46 runs short on a wicket that was a touch slow.

In CPL 2021, the average first innings score was 162.48. There was a mix of both lower and higher scores. Also, the team batting first won 17 times compared to 16 by the chasing team, so there wasn’t a clear trend.

A warm and clear day is forecast.

SL vs BAN Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: Asia Cup 2022 Match 5

SL vs BAN Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: Asia Cup 2022 Match 5 | BAN vs SL Dream11 Prediction Today | Dubai Pitch Report

Sri Lanka will be facing Bangladesh in a must-win encounter for both sides in the Group B fixture of the Asia Cup on Thursday. Both the sides lost their respective games to Afghanistan and that has put them in a spot of bother. The match will be played in the Dubai International Stadium as the tournament nears the conclusion of its initial round. The two sides are coming into this game on the back of a thoroughly crushing defeat.

More than the loss, it was their dismal performances that would have hurt these teams following their respective first matches. The Lankans and the Bangladeshi units have tremendous room to make some tangible improvement in their performances. Whoever doesn’t can kiss their Asia Cup 2022 campaign goodbye.

SL vs BAN Possible Playing XI

Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Chamika Karunaratne had shown some fine resistance amidst Sri Lanka’s horrific batting performance against Bangladesh. However, the outing in totality was so poor that it will be unwise to draw strong conclusions from that particular game. The playing XI has enough talent in it to topple a struggling Bangladeshi side and hence one can expect an unchanged Lankan team in this game.

Sri Lanka: 1: Pathum Nissanka, 2: K Mendis (wk), 3: Charith Asalanka, 4: Danushka Gunathilaka, 5: Bhanuka Rajapaksa, 6: Dasun Shanaka (C), 7: Wanindu Hasaranga, 8: Chamika Karunaratne, 9: Maheesh Theekshana, 10: Dilshan Madushanka, 11: Matheesha Pathirana.

Similarly, Bangladesh came into this tournament with a fixed strategy in place under the relatively new incumbent captaincy stint of Shakib al Hasan. Their previous loss might compel the management to make some stark changes in the playing XI. However, straightaway going back on one’s plans do not reflect well on the long-term thought process of the think-tank.

Bangladesh: 1: Mohammad Naim, 2: Anamul Haque, 3: Shakib al Hasan (C), 4: Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), 5: Afif Hossain, 6: Mahmadullah, 7: Mosaddek Hossain, 8: Mahedi Hasan, 9: Mohammad Saifuddin, 10: Taskin Ahmed, 11: Mustafizur Rahman.

SLvs BAN key players and head-to-head matchups

Sri Lanka:

  • Sri Lanka recorded a thumping victory in their last T20I vs Bangladesh as they chased down 172 runs at Sharjah in the T20 World Cup last year. Charith Asalanka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa starred in that encounter with scores of 80* and 53 respectively to take the Lankans over the finishing line.
  • Dasun Shanka has been in terrific touch with the bat this year. He has notched 308 runs at an average of 38.50 and strike rate of 144.60 in 12 T20Is in 2022.
  • Danushka Gunathalika has arguably failed to justify the team management’s trust in him lately. With only 127 runs in 10 innings in 2022, the 31-year-old will be edging to get back in the groove in this crunch encounter.
  • Maheesh Theekshana has an impeccable economy rate of 5.93 as he has picked eight scalps in eight T20Is in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) so far. He will play an integral role in Sri Lanka’s bowling effort in this match, and will look to emulate Mujeeb ur Rahman’s spell in the powerplay against Bangladesh.
  • Wanindu Hasaranga has been in some good wicket-taking form with 11 dismissals in six T20Is in 2022. The leg-spinner will again hold the key as Sri Lanka will look to restrict Bangladesh to a modest total on a tricky surface.

Bangladesh:

  • Shakib Al Hasan has taken 12 wickets in eight T20Is against Sri Lanka at an incredible bowling average and strike rate of 13.08 and 12.50 respectively. He has also maintained a tight economy rate of 6.28 against the Lankans.
  • Can Shakib improve on his poor batting record against SL? He has scored just 154 runs in eight matches at an average of 19.25 and strike rate of 111.59.
  • Mushfiqur Rahim’s form in T20Is might concern the Bangladeshi batting unit. He has recorded an average of merely 17.83 in his last 15 T20Is. The talks of him being promoted to the top of the order in the Asia Cup hasn’t really materialized either.
  • With nine wickets in six games, Mosaddek Hossain has really turned a new leaf with respect to his T20I bowling credentials this year. One can expect him to don an integral role in Thursday’s encounter. He was also in the runs against Afghanistan.
  • Mustafizur Rahman has not been amongst wickets whilst bowling in the UAE. The left-arm pacer has only two scalps to his name at a bowling average and strike rate of 75 and 45 respectively in five games in the country.
  • Mahmudullah has accumulated 620 runs at an average of 22.14 in 33 T20Is since the onset of 2021. However, he would want to score these runs at a better pace as his strike rate reads an underwhelming 105.31 and 107.83 in 2021 and 2022 respectively.

Other Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-Head: Played 12, Sri Lanka 8, Bangladesh 4
  • Mushfiqur Rahim tends to step up against Sri Lanka especially in T20Is. Despite having an average record overall, the wicket-keeper batsman has scored 296 runs at an average and strike rate of 42.29 and 149.49 in 10 T20Is against the Lankans.
  • Wanindu Hasaranga vs Mushfiqur will be a key battle. In 196 balls against legspin in T20Is, Rahim has been dismissed 13 times at an average of 15.2 and strike rate of 100.5.
  • Taskin Ahmed has failed to take any wickets in his last three T20Is.
  • The two sides first faced off in a T20I way back in September 2007. 15 years down the line, Shakib, Mushfiqur and Mahmadullah are the only players from that match who are set to feature in Thursday’s encounter as well.
  • Sri Lanka has lost four of their last five T20Is in the UAE.

Dubai International Stadium Pitch Report and Weather

One should not look forward to a high-scoring match given that the first innings average score in this stadium is a partly 142. A clear weather is expected during the game with the temperature hovering around 34 degrees Celsius. Overall, a competitive game with a fine battle between the bat and the ball is on the cards for the spectators, but expect the chasing team to have an advantage.

SKN vs JAM Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: CPL 2022 Match 1

SKN vs JAM Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: CPL 2022 Match 1 | SKN vs JT Dream11 Prediction Today | St Kitts Pitch Report

One of cricket’s great vibes has reached its tenth season. Such is the pace at which the cricketing world moves that it feels like yesterday that St Kitts and Nevis Patriots memorably won CPL 2021, and they are now back to defend their crown.

St Kitts also come into this tournament off the back of a victory in the inaugural 6IXTY competition that preceded CPL 2022. If they can start the T20 competition with the kind of flair and confidence that has served them well since the start of last season, they will be mighty tough to beat.

This is especially the case for Jamaica Tallawahs. Andre Russell’s move to Trinbago Knight Riders leaves a huge gap for the Tallawahs to try fill, with huge onus on Rovman Powell to lead the way with the bat. Also, the top three on paper looks to be anchor-heavy, so risk-taking in powerplay is a must if the Tallawahs are to reduce pressure on their middle order.

SKN vs JAM Possible Playing XI

Even without Wanindu Hasaranga who is on Asia Cup duty with Sri Lanka, the Patriots look good on paper. Evin Lewis and Andre Fletcher have some form under their belt, and many can’t wait to see Dewald Brevis in action in the T20 format once again.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots: 1. Evin Lewis, 2. Andre Fletcher, 3. Darren Bravo, 4. Dewald Brevis, 5. Joshua da Silva (wk), 6. Sherfane Rutherford, 7. Dwayne Bravo (c), 8. Dominic Drakes, 9. Jon-Russ Jaggesar/Izharulhaq Naveed, 10. Sheldon Cottrell, 11. Duan Jansen/Akila Dananjaya

For the Tallawahs, Fabian Allen, who moved from Patriots, is a boost. The likes of Imad Wasim and Chris Green will be crucial as both finishers with the bat and steady hands with the ball.

Jamaica Tallawahs: 1. Brandon King, 2. Amir Jangoo (wk), 3. Shamarh Brooks/Kennar Lewis, 4. Rovman Powell (c), 5. Fabian Allen, 6. Raymon Reifer, 7. Imad Wasim, 8. Chris Green, 9. Joshua James/Marquino Mindley, 10. Sandeep Lamichhane, 11. Migael Pretorius/Mohammad Amir

SKN vs JAM key players and head-to-head matchups

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots:

  • Evin Lewis has the most runs of any player in T20s at Warner Park. The left-hander has scored 1,307 runs in 42 innings at an average of 33.51 and strike rate of 155.33.
  • Also, Lewis strikes at 163.76 in 17 innings vs Jamaica (470 runs, avg. 29.38).
  • Andre Fletcher was player of the series in the recent 6IXTY competition with 130 runs. Also, Fletcher has the fourth-most runs of any player on this ground (629) at an average of 29.95 and strike rate of 123.82.
  • Dewald Brevis scored just 43 runs in five matches in the 6IXTY tournament. But, with more time to bat in T20s, one cannot count out Brevis after a highly promising IPL campaign earlier this year.
  • Dwayne Bravo has taken 23 wickets in 18 innings at Warner Park (15.35 SR). He has also taken 23 wickets in 18 innings against the Tallawahs.
  • Bravo against Rovman Powell could be a key battle. Bravo has conceded just 31 runs in 34 balls against Powell in T20s, with one dismissal.
  • Dominic Drakes will be looking to build on a memorable CPL 2021 campaign. The left-armer took 16 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 20.68 and economy of 8.56, including two outings of 2/40 against Jamaica.

Jamaica Tallawahs:

  • Brandon King will be crucial at the top after his move from Guyana. He averages just 20 in eight matches vs Jamaica so far and 22.80 in 17 innings at Warner Park.
  • Rovman Powell fares worse on this ground with an average of 21.06 and strike rate of 124.31 in 20 innings. But, he has a great career strike rate against St Kitts (156.68), with 293 runs at an average of 29.30.
  • Also, Powell has been solid in white-ball cricket in 2022: 31 inns, 699 runs, avg. 31.77, SR 156.73.
  • Fabian Allen will be motivated to perform well against his former team. On this ground, Allen has struck 275 runs at a strike rate of 143.98 and has taken 15 wickets at a strike rate of 23.67. Expect him to be a livewire in the field, too.
  • Expect Chris Green to be used in the powerplay. The offspinner has dismissed Evin Lewis twice in 36 balls in T20s, conceding just 43 in the process.
  • Mohammad Amir took 11 wickets in seven matches in CPL 2021 at an average of 13.54 and economy of 6.12.

Other Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 15, SKN 7, JAM 7, 1 N/R.
  • Evin Lewis scored the second-most runs in CPL 2021: 11 inns, 426 runs, avg. 47.33, SR 163.21.
  • Dwayne Bravo at the death in white-ball cricket in 2022: 28 wickets, econ. 9.41, SR 10.4.
  • Sherfane Rutherford had a strong CPL 2021 campaign. He scored 262 runs in 10 innings at an average of 37.42 and strike rate of 127.18, with three fifties. This included a 26-ball 50* against Jamaica.
  • Dominic Drakes takes a wicket every 19.12 deliveries in 16 T20s at Warner Park.
  • Sandeep Lamichhane took 3/22 in his only T20 on this ground to date. He has also taken five wickets in three matches vs St Kitts.

Warner Park Basseterre St Kitts Pitch Report and Weather

In 33 matches on this ground in CPL 2021, the average first innings score was 162.48. There was a mix of both lower and higher scores. Also, the team batting first won 17 times compared to 16 by the chasing team, so there wasn’t a clear trend.

In the recent Windies-India T20I series, the chasing team won both matches. West Indies chased India’s 138 before India chased West Indies’ 164 in the next match.

The forecast is for a clear and warm evening in St Kitts. Dew may play a role, so expect the captain who wins the toss to choose to chase.

Tim David set to be picked in Australia T20 World Cup squad – reports

Cricket News: Tim David set to be picked in Australia T20 World Cup squad – reports | Australia set to pick Tim David for World Cup

Tim David can feature in Australia’s squad for the T20 World Cup as an uncontracted freelancer on match payments, The Sydney Morning Herald reports. Such an arrangement will provide David a greater bandwidth to participate in franchise leagues across the world whilst simultaneously representing Australia in the shortest format of international cricket.

A contract from Cricket Australia (CA) will be automatically placed in front of David only if he plays over 12 T20Is annually. There are parallels that can be drawn with respect to this situation both within and beyond Australian cricket.

For example, Trent Boult recently opted out of a contract with New Zealand Cricket (NZC) for greater flexibility to feature in T20 tournaments across the world. Similarly, Kane Richardson and Matthew Wade are likely to find a place in the Australian squad for the T20 World Cup despite not having a CA contract in place.

Tim David expected to sign CA or state contract to feature for Australia

Upon signing a CA or state contract, David will be expected to train and play in Australia between September-April. He will have to seek the nod of the governing body to play in other franchise leagues during this time period. Otherwise, he is much more liberated to participate in other global T20 tournaments.

Australian selection chairman George Bailey had apparently expressed interest on including David in the national squad for the T20I series vs Sri Lanka in February this year.

However, the 26-year-old was instead allowed to participate in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in that window rather than being a spare batsman in the Aussie squad. His performances in the PSL led to his big-ticket acquisition by the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction. David scored 186 runs at a strike rate of 218.28 in eight games in IPL 2022 and those performances strengthened voices calling for his immediate selection in the Australian T20I squad.

Cricket News: Tim David set to be picked in Australia T20 World Cup squad - reports | Australia set to pick Tim David for World Cup

He is now reportedly closing in to seal a spot in the defending World T20 champions’ final 15. The aforementioned publication even quipped that David will be replacing leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson in the squad. The T20 powerhouse has contractual commitments in the IPL, PSL, the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), the Hundred, the BBL and also the Abu Dhabi T10 league. He averages 32.48 with a strike rate of 164.12 in 121 T20s so far.

David is widely expected to uplift the Australian T20I side as he has proven his mettle in the format across the world. There are doubts over him fitting in appropriately in the playing XI that led the country to their maiden T20 World Cup victory last year. However, a place in the squad will be a good starter for the player as of now.

Australia will be playing a T20I series each against India, West Indies and England before kicking off their T20 World Cup campaign against New Zealand on 22nd October in Sydney.

Twitter reactions: Afghanistan qualify for Super 4 of Asia Cup

Cricket News: Twitter reactions: Afghanistan qualify for Super 4 of Asia Cup | Twitter reactions after Afghanistan beat Bangladesh

Afghanistan has become the first team to qualify for the Super 4 in the ongoing edition of the Asia Cup. Powered by a Man of the Match performance by Mujeeb-ur-Rahman, the Mohammad Nabi-led team recorded a convincing victory against Bangladesh on Tuesday.

Earlier, the Afghans had defeated Sri Lanka with close to ten overs to spare on Saturday. With two consecutive victories, Nabi’s men have become the first team from Group B to make it to the next round of the competition.

Mujeeb and Rashid Khan combined to take three wickets each to topple the Bangladeshi batting order. Some late resistance from Mosaddek Hossain (48) ensured that Shakib al Hasan’s team steered their way to 127 runs.

However, a power-packed performance by Najibullah Zadran meant that the Afghans made light work of the whole chase. Zadran scored 43 runs off 17 deliveries, which included six sixes and a solitary four. Ibrahim Zadran played an ideal foil to him by remaining unbeaten at 42 off 41 balls and taking the team over the finishing line in the 19th over.

Afghanistan qualifies for Super 4 stage: Twitter reactions

Here are some reactions on Twitter following Afghanistan’s incredible performance on Tuesday.

Afghanistan’s consecutive victories mean that Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will face off in a virtual knockout on Thursday. The Super 4s are set to commence from 3rd September onwards. Nabi’s men will have an opportunity to display their newfound flamboyance and mettle against heavyweights like India and Pakistan in that stage of the competition.

The Afghans have come a long way in recent times and a lot of that progress can be attributed to development in their pace-bowling and batting ranks.

The likes of Fazalhaq Farooqi and Naveen-ul-Haq are ably backing up the spin trio of Nabi, Mujeeb and Rashid. On the batting front, there is some absolutely fine talent on display by players like Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Hazratullah Zazai, Zadran along with others. The team has shown the temperament to close out games successfully so far and this trait will hold them in good stead heading towards the T20 World Cup in October.

IND vs HK Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: Asia Cup 2022 Match 4 | IND vs HK Dream11 Prediction Today | Dubai Pitch Report

On paper, it’s a mismatch. But that does not reduce the importance of this game for both teams.

For India, this clash is an opportunity for crucial game time for the likes of KL Rahul and Virat Kohli in particular. Rahul, who didn’t spend too much time in the middle in Zimbabwe recently, was out first ball against Pakistan in what has been a difficult return to the team. So, here is an opportunity to find some all important runs, confidence and time in the middle.

For Hong Kong, this is a wonderful occasion in their cricketing journey. The chance to take on some of the world’s best is something they will be looking forward to after a Qualifier campaign that saw them achieve a perfect three from three. Their aim will be to compete with India as long as possible, and attempt to build on any good periods of play.

It is far easier said than done, however. Hardik Pandya once again showed his value to this India team, providing great depth in both departments. Also, the Indian bowlers will be after another efficient showing; the kind we saw against Pakistan a few nights ago.

IND vs HK Possible Playing XI

One of the big talking points out of India’s first match was their decision to select Dinesh Karthik over Rishabh Pant. This prompted the think tank to elevate Ravindra Jadeja to number four. It remains to be seen if India persist with that approach here.

Also, R Ashwin is a chance of playing in conditions that have seen spin play a role.

India: 1. Rohit Sharma (c), 2. KL Rahul, 3. Virat Kohli, 4. Ravindra Jadeja, 5. Suryakumar Yadav, 6. Hardik Pandya, 7. Dinesh Karthik (wk), 8. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 9. Avesh Khan/R Ashwin, 10. Yuzvendra Chahal, 11. Arshdeep Singh

Hong Kong will be looking to build on their showings in the Qualifier, albeit against much more established opposition.

Hong Kong: 1. Nizakat Khan (c), 2. Yasim Murtaza, 3. Babar Hayat, 4. Kinchit Shah, 5. Aizaz Khan, 6. Scott McKenchnie (wk) 7. Ehsan Khan, 8. Ayush Shukhla, 9. Zeeshan Ali, 10. Mohammad Ghazanfar, 11. Haroon Arshad

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

India:

  • Hardik Pandya’s brilliant performance against Pakistan was another feature in his superb year to date. The all-rounder has scored 801 runs at an average of 40.05 and strike rate of 135.99 in T20s this year, along with 20 wickets.
  • It is a big match for KL Rahul. Despite the duck last game, he still has an excellent T20 record at Dubai: 16 inns, 731 runs, avg. 56.23, SR 147.68.
  • It’s also an important game for Virat Kohli in his search for top form. Albeit scratchy at times, Kohli spent time in the middle against Pakistan for his 35. At Dubai, he averages a steady-but-unspectacular 30.78 in 17 T20s at a strike rate of 116.17.
  • Bhuvneshwar Kumar has had a brilliant 2022, especially in the powerplay. In 37 overs in this period, he has taken 13 wickets at an average of 15.6 and strike rate of 17.1. He is coming off an excellent spell against Pakistan (4/26), where he was also proficient at the death (three wickets).
  • Arshdeep Singh has a great record at Dubai. In eight T20s, he has taken 19 wickets at an average of 13.32 and strike rate of 9.21.
  • Yuzvendra Chahal in T20s at Dubai: 13 inns, 19 wickets, avg. 18.15, SR 16.10.

Hong Kong:

  • Ehsan Khan will be vital. The all-rounder has the second-most wickets for Hong Kong (39), including nine in three matches (avg. 9, econ. 6.75) in the recent Qualifier tournament.
  • Aizaz Khan, who took four wickets in three matches in the Qualifier, has the most wickets for Hong Kong in T20Is (58) at an average of 18.93 and economy of 6.95.
  • Yasim Murtaza scored the most runs in the recent T20 Asia Cup Qualifier (130) at an average of 43.33 and strike rate of 125.00.
  • Babar Hayat scored 97 runs in three matches in the Qualifier and was dismissed just once. Also impressive was his strike rate of 159.01.
  • Babar has the second-most runs for Hong Kong in T20Is (758) with the best average of any player (29.15).
  • Nizakat Khan is first with 978 at an average of 19.95. Nizakat scored a memorable 92 against India in the 2018 Asia Cup on this ground, in the ODI format.

Other Stats and Facts

  • This will be the third meeting between India and Hong Kong in an international and the first in a T20I. In the 2018 Asia Cup, which was an ODI tournament, Hong Kong lost by just 26 runs after posting a very respectable 259/8.
  • Hardik Pandya’s three wickets against Pakistan were off the short ball. Expect the all-rounder to send down as many as possible in this match.
  • Victory for India will confirm their passage to the Super 4 stage.

Dubai International Stadium Pitch Report and Weather

Chasing teams continue to dominate at Dubai. The teams batting second have won 23 of the past 28 T20s on this ground. In this tournament so far, the surface has offered something both seamers and spinners, and we can expect similar here.

More hot weather is forecast. Expect the captain who wins the toss to choose to field.
