Mumbai Indians were trumped by Delhi Capitals in their last match. Capitals went to win their first match at Chepauk after 11 long years. In the 16th match of IPL 2021, Mumbai Indians will go head to head with Punjab Kings who have lost their previous 3 matches.

While batting first on a tricky pitch in their previous match, Mumbai Indians could only manage 137 for the loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs. They were blown away by Mishra Magic. Mishra picked 4 wickets by conceding just 24 runs and showed the world yet again why he is regarded as an IPL Legend. Rohit Sharma (44 off 30 balls) was the top scorer for his side. 

Mumbai Indians have played 4 matches so far, out of which they won 2 and lost 2. After losing the previous game, they would like to get back to winning ways when they face a rather struggling Punjab Kings.

Punjab Kings’ IPL campaign is nothing less than a disaster so far. Despite having a fancy squad, they have failed to make most of their resources. The young-leggie Ravi Bishnoi, who was their second-highest wicket-taker, is yet to get a game. The onus will be on their top guns to rise to the occasion and give Punjab Fans something to cheer.

In their last match, they only mustered 120 runs against SRH. Despite having a star-studded batting line-up, not even a single batter crossed the 25-run mark. Their highest scores were Mayank and Shahrukh Khan with 22 runs.

  • Quinton de Kock – Quinny has got a strong average against Kings in the IPL. In 8 innings, he has 293 runs at an average of 41.9 against them.
  • Suryakumar Yadav – SKY has 228 runs from 12 innings at an average of 20.7, his average further goes down to 13.6 while batting first. He has not enjoyed much success against Kings but players with the sub-standard record are doing well and with the current form, SKY could be next in line. He has been looking good in IPL 2021 without going on to make the big score.
  • Kieron Pollard – Polly has got a good record against Kings. In 20 innings he has 5 wickets and 498 runs at an average of 38.3.  
  • Hardik Pandya – Flamboyant Pandya got out on a golden duck in the last match. Against Kings, he has 3 wickets and 169 runs from 9 innings at an average of 24.1. The spotlight will be on him to perform.
  • Krunal Pandya – Senior Pandya has 4 wickets and 127 runs from 6 innings at an average of 25.4 vs PBKS.  
  • Rahul Chahar – Chahar has 5 wickets from 4 innings against Kings. He is better with every match. Watch out for him throughout the tournament. 
  • Jasprit Bumrah has 17 wickets from his 12 innings vs Kings. 11 have come bowling first.
  • Trent Boult has 8 wickets from 7 innings against Kings.

Punjab Kings

  • KL Rahul – KL has got one of the best batting records against MI. In 12 innings he has 580 runs at an average of 64.4.  KL missed out in the last match and after losing the previous three games, there is a bit of extra pressure on him to perform.
  • Mayank Agarwal– Mayank has 211 runs from 12 innings at an average of 19.2. vs MI  He has an identical record in both innings. However, he has shown some promising form in the last two games of IPL 2021.
  • Chris Gayle – Universe Boss got bossed by Rashid Khan in the last match. Against MI, he averages 41.5 with 664 runs from 18 innings. During the pitch report if you see a new deck is being used, try him as C/VC only in the 1-2 GL Team.
  • Nicholas Pooran –  So far Nicky P has a Silver Duck 0 (2), Golden Duck 0 (1), Diamond Duck (0). Very few people know that Pooran was part of the Mumbai Indians camp early on in his career as he did not get a single chance to play for them. Watch out for him and do pick him in Grand leagues.
  • Deepak Hooda – Hooda has 115 runs from 7 innings against MI. He was seen bowling a good amount of overs in the previous match, and has been in good touch with the bat. He will be up against Krunal Pandya.
  • Fabian Allen – Allen made a debut for Kings in the previous match and picked up a wicket.
  • Mohammad Shami – Shami has gone wicketless in the previous two matches but that does not change the fact that he is the leader of the pack. Pick him in Grand Leagues. In 8 matches he has 9 wickets against MI.
  • Arshdeep Singh – Arshdeep has played once against Mumbai and picked 2 wickets.
  • Moises Henriques has 2 wickets and 76 runs from 4 innings at an average of 25.3 vs MI.
  • Chris Jordan – Kings bowling has been below par in the first four matches, Jordan can be quite effective with his slower ones and his cutters at Chepauk. Watch out for him and do pick him in your Grand League teams.

After conquering Chepauk, Royal Challengers Bangalore move to the Wankhede for their next two matches. Here, they will be facing the inconsistent Rajasthan Royals in the quest for four straight wins to start IPL 2021.

In the 13 years gone by, RCB has won the first three games of the tournament for the first time. The team that has always been under the pump for its death bowling has finally managed to re-fashion it. After years, an RCB bowler (Harshal Patel) is leading the wicket-charts and has the Purple Cap on his head.

In their last match, RCB posted a giant total of 204 in their 20 overs courtesy of a master class from Big Show Maxi (78 off 49 balls) which was followed by another gem by Mr.360 (76 off 34 balls). The impressive part is that it was achieved on a slow Chepauk pitch. From their bowling department, Yuzi Chahal was back among the wickets, while Kyle Jamieson got 3 wickets and they successfully depended on the total.

Now, coming to the Royals. They have been hot and cold in the tournament so far. They lost their last match by 45 runs while chasing a score of 188. Jos Buttler was their top scorer with 49 runs; their middle order has done well so far, but it’s high time that the likes of Shivam Dube rise to the occasion. 

Rajasthan Royals also suffered a blow when English All-Rounder Liam Livingstone opted out of the tournament and flew back home due to Bio-bubble fatigue.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

  • Virat Kohli – Kohli fell early in the last match courtesy of a blinder from Tripathi. Against Royals, he has not been at his very best, in 21 innings 482 runs at an average of 26.8. However, his averages go up to 45.3 while batting second. Can he finally fire in this tournament?
  • Devdutt Padikkal – Padikkal has spent good time at the crease without fully firing. The Wankhede will suit his style of batting. He has 82 runs against RR from his 2 innings vs RR at an average of 41.
  • Glenn Maxwell – Maxi has 161 runs from 8 innings at an average of 26.8 vs RR. He has an identical record in both innings. However, it is a different Maxi in 2021. He currently has the second-most runs (176 runs, avg. 58.66, SR 149.15).
  • AB de Villers – Mr.360 has got a superlative record against Royals. In 19 innings he has 648 runs at an average of 46.3. Overall in his T20 career, ABD has done well batting first comparatively. He will be a great choice of C/VC in Grand Leagues.
  • Daniel Christian – We might see Daniel Christian back in the playing 11 against Royals. He has played against them twice and made 55 runs also picked up a wicket. If he plays, he is worth a punt in 1-2 GL Teams. However, there is also a chance that Finn Allen plays due to this being a batting pitch.
  • Harshal Patel has 7 wickets from 4 innings against the Royals. Right from the first match, Kohli has praised him for all his efforts. He has taken nine wickets in three games in IPL 2021.
  • Kyle Jamieson has bowled well so far in the tournament. In the last match, he picked 3 wickets. 
  • Yuzvendra Chahal has 16 wickets from 10 innings against the Royals. He has done slightly better bowling first against them.
  • Washington Sundar has bowled thrice against Royals and had not picked up a single wicket. All three innings have come bowling first. The way this IPL has gone so far, players with sub-standard records have performed on occasion, so don’t be surprised if Sundar also follows the ritual. Try him in 1-2 GL Team.

Rajasthan Royals

  • Jos Buttler – Buttler had a tussle with Kohli in the 5th match of the T20I series. After that he missed out in the ODI series and now this match is a perfect opportunity to level the score! Players forget things when they are off the field but while playing these small things does makes the difference. 
  • Against RCB he has 220 runs from 8 innings at an average of 31.4. He has a better record batting second.
  • Sanju Samson – Predicting Samson’s performance is one of the most difficult things in Fantasy sports. After an incredible performance in the first match, he has failed in two subsequent innings. Against RCB he has 259 runs from 14 innings at an average of 19.9. He has done well while bowling first comparatively.
  • David Miller – Miller’s best score of 101 came against RCB years back. Kohli called that innings one of the best he has ever seen, and I was fortunate to watch it live! Overall against RCB he has 251 runs from 10 innings at an average of 27.9. 
  • Shivam Dube – After being released from RCB, this will be Dube’s first match against them. So far he has not done much in the competition; he might have saved his best performance for his previous team. Not to forget he is also playing on his home ground. With his all-rounder value, he is worth a slot in a 1-2 GL team.
  • Riyan Parag has a wicket and 18 runs from his 1 innings against RCB. Rahul Tewatia has 57 runs and 2 wickets from his two innings against RCB.
  • Chris Morris – Like Dube, this will be Morris’s first match against RCB after he was released. In past, he has played 10 matches against them and picked 9 wickets.
  • Mustafizur Rahman has 4 wickets from 4 innings against RCB.

  • Ruturaj Gaikwad – Gaikwad has not made most of the opportunities so far but as far as we know MS, he gives a good run to his players until the team is doing well. He has played KKR once and scored 72 runs.
  • Robin Uthappa-  Uthappa was part of KKR early in his career. Against them, he has 224 runs at an average of 22.4 in just 12 innings. 
  • Moren Ali-  Moeen Ali has answered all those who questioned CSK’s intent last season. He has been simply magnificent with bat and ball in IPL 2021. Against KKR he has 66 runs from 2 innings.
  • Suresh Raina – Raina has got the best record against KKR in the IPL. He has 818 runs from 22 innings at an average of 45.4. 
  • Ravindra Jadeja – Jadeja has a batting average of 40.6 with 365 runs from 21 innings vs KKR. He also has picked 15 wickets. Also, he has been a livewire in the field.
  • Sam Curran – Sam Curran has already started showing signs that he will rule the coming decade of the IPL. Against KKR he has 85 runs and 2 wickets, with his all-around ability he will be a good choice of C/VC in grand leagues.
  • Shardul Thakur has 5 wickets against KKR so far. All 5 have come while bowling first.
  • Deepak Chahar – Chahar has 3 wickets from 5 innings against KKR. He will look to target their shaky powerplay batting.

  • Shubman Gill – Gill has 118 runs from his 5 innings at an average of 29.5. The KKR Opener has looked in decent touch so far, but will want to go on with his starts.
  • Rahul Tripathi- Tripathi has 138 runs from 5 innings at an average of 34.5. Tripathi was part of Dhoni’s Rising Pune Super Giants so he was played Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur a lot and performed well against them so far.
  • Nitish Rana – Rana has 133 runs from 5 innings against CSK. He knows Wankhede well as he was part of MI earlier in his IPL Career.

“I want to compare the two venues. Down south in Chennai, it’s been a bat-first situation. 6 games played, 5 of them have won by teams batting first. It’s a turnaround here at Wankhede. 5 games played, 4 of them have won by the teams chasing and the other game separated by a solitary run. It means pitches here have offered either swing or seam to those bowling first or it’s been generally a good chasing ground because of moisture later on. This one is pitch number 6 where there was 147 scored where there was swing and seam. It looks drier and warmer today. If the ball swings, it won’t be because of the moisture on the surface. So, in the first 10 overs, you’ve gotta hit that good length area. The strike rate of bowlers who hit that area is much better but the trouble for bowlers later in the game is that little bit of dew that appears and allows the ball to slide onto the bat and the batsmen then feast on it. Great skill needs to come into play and once again yorkers in the second half of the innings are going to be key.”

Punjab Kings travel down south to go neck-and-neck with Sunrisers Hyderabad for the 14th match of IPL 2021. And this is certainly a crucial game for both teams.

For the first time in their IPL history, SRH has lost the first three matches of the IPL. Also, they are yet to win a game in Chennai in their history (six attempts). Despite getting good starts from their openers, their middle-order with the likes of Manish Pandey, Abdul Samad, Virat Singh found new ways to get out and were unable to finish the games.

Punjab Kings, on the other hand, made a significant improvement in their batting department after suffering a collapse against CSK. Mayank Agarwal stole the show with his 69 off 36 balls. It’s time for the two IPL 2020 finalists to meet in IPL 2021. Defending champions Mumbai Indians will face last year’s runner-up Delhi Capitals for the 13th match of what’s been an intriguing tournament to date.

After losing the first match of the season, normalcy has resumed for Mumbai Indians and they have gained 4 points from their last two matches. A well-settled MI Camp has had contributions from all their players so far. In their last match, Rohit Sharma, along with Quinton de Kock provided a good start to their innings. Then, Mightly Pollard came and launched a quickfire 35 off 22 balls to get 150 runs on board at the end of 20 overs.  

While defending the score, it was business-as-usual for the MI bowlers. Bumrah (1/14) did not take many wickets but he arguably had the most impact on the game. Chahar, who now has seven wickets in his last two games, came and took wickets for fun. Boult (3/28) cleaned the tail.

We must confess that it has been Dhawan 2.0 since 2018. He has carried on his brilliant batting form and redefined the simple cliche of T20 Cricket. He was the architect of another Delhi win in his match-winning knock of 92 off 49 balls vs Punjab Kings.

  • Krunal Pandya – Senior Pandya has a good record against Capitals. He has 9 wickets and 249 runs from 10 innings, at an average of 39.5. Try him in 1-2 Grand League Team.
  • Rahul Chahar – Rahul Chahar is coming and getting wickets for fun so far. He has seven scalps in his last two games. Against Capitals, he has 4 wickets from 4 innings so far.
  • Trent Boult – Boulty has 9 wickets from 4 innings against Capitals. He was traded from Capitals to MI.

Nearly 28 years after Shane Warne produced the ball of the century to dismiss Gatting, Matt Parkinson produced an absolute gem on the exact same ground for Lancashire against Northants. IPL 2021, which captures billions of eyeballs, is well underway. But, attention quickly turned to The County Championship, where leg-spinner Parkinson, consistently on the fringes of national selection, produced a near-identical delivery to the great Warne ball all those years ago.

The reactions were aplenty. And rightly so. Naturally, comparisons were drawn to the Warne delivery of 1993, with a range of opinions. Lancashire led the way with a cheeky, witty tweet. Shane Warne himself also chimed in.

Chennai Super Kings kick-started their IPL campaign with a one-sided win against PBKS, now they will be up against the Rajasthan Royals for the 12th match of the IPL 2021. The key question for CSK will be whether they can back it up with another strong performance here against Rajasthan Royals.

In the previous encounter, MSD played his 200th IPL match and he got the perfect from his Campion bowler Deepak Chahar who knocked Punjab Kings down to pick his best IPL figures (4/13). MS has played an important role in reviving Chahar’s career and needless to say, Chahar keeps him at the top of his gratitude list.

Chasing a below-par total, Faf du Plessis’ 36 off 33 balls blended with Moeen Ali’s 46 of 31 balls to get the job done for CSK. Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, are pumped up after an exciting win over Delhi Capitals. After being 42/4 they were recused by Miller who went all gun blazing in his 62 off 43 balls, and his fellow South African Chris Morris (36 off 18 balls) also showed why he is the biggest buy in the IPL history. In the bowling department, Jaydev Unadkat 2.0 demolished the Capital top 3 batters for single-digit scores. It will be interesting to see if he can replicate this.

They were A1 in their off-field game as well and bid farewell to their maestro Ben Stokes who will fly back home and will be out to action for a minimum of 12 weeks.

  • Faf Du Plessis – Faf looked good in the previous outing. Against the Royals, he has 237 runs from 8 innings at an average of 29.6. However, he has struggled batting in the first innings relatively, with just 47 from 4 innings with an average of 11.8.
  • Ruturaj Gaikwad – Gaikwad has not gone going in the IPL so far. He has just batted once against the Royals once on which he got out on golden duck. As an Emerging Player of the Season candidate, CSK will be hoping for more from Gaikwad.
  • Robin Uthappa – Uthappa was part of Royals camp last year. While playing against them in past, he has 383 runs in 17 innings, at an average of 25.5.  As Opener against RR, he averages 168 runs from 5 innings at an average of 42.  
  • Ravindra Jadeja – Rockstar Jadeja was lightning quick and gave 38 Fantasy points with his fielding itself against PBKS. Against Royals, he averages 50.7 from 152 runs in 11 innings. He also has 16 wickets.
  • Dwayne Bravo – Bravo has contributed with both bat and ball against the Royals. With the bat he has 195 runs in his 11 innings at an average of 48.8 and a handy 15 wickets. He has done well while better while bowling second. 
  • Ambati Rayadu –  Rayadu averages 344 from his 15 innings at an average of 26.5 vs RR. He has a better record while batting second.

  • Jos Buttler – Buttler is back at his opening slot and he enjoys playing against his idol MSD side. In 5 innings he has 216 runs at an average of 72. Out of 5 innings, 4 have come batting second.
  • Sanju Samson – Samson has not done much against CSK. In his 9 innings, he has 153 runs at an average of 17. His average further does down to 10.7 while batting second. However, two games ago, he played one of the all-time great IPL knocks in a losing cause.
  • David Miller – Killer Miller has 253 runs from his 9 innings at an average of 31.6 vs CSK. He has done well batting second. He is coming off a magnificent start to IPL 2021, where he scored 62 (43) vs DC.

After losing their respective previous games, the Wicketkeeper Captains will now look to get back to winning ways in the 11th match of IPL 2021.

For a change, bowlers have started dominating at Wankhede! The last two matches have been a total contrast to what we usually see at this ground. Delhi Capitals were blown away by a Unadkat special. The top-three Delhi batters recorded single-digit scores and their  innings was rescued by their Captain (51 off 32 balls), he was all set to give the perfect finish to his side but got run-out at the wrong time and Delhi Capitals finished 147/8 in their 20 overs.

Delhi bowlers had a terrific start with the ball and at one time, they had Royals 42-5. After that Miller came and gave the RR old Killer-Miller vibes in his 62 off 43 balls, Chris Morris showed his Million-dollar worth in hitting 36 off 18 balls to get his side the win. Jaydev Unadkat was adjudged man of the match for his performance.

Punjab Kings also had a very similar start but this time around there was no magic recovery as no other batter rubbed shoulders with Shahrukh Khan (47 off 36 balls) who was the best performer for the Kings. They could just manage 106 runs in their 20 overs. In their bowling department, Shami got two gifted wickets from CSK in an otherwise terrible game for Punjab.

Delhi Capitals

  • Shikhar Dhawan –  Dhawan has 733 runs from 24 innings vs PBKS at an average of 34.9. If we consider Fantasy prospective, he has been part of the dream team on both occasions so far.
  • Prithvi Shaw –  Shaw missed out in the last game. Against Kings XI he has 47 runs from 5 innings at an average of 9.4.  The way this season IPL has gone so far, players with sub-standard records against certain opponents have done well so far, so you never know.
  • Ajinkya Rahane – Rahane averages 32.5 against Kings with 455 runs from his 17 innings. His further goes up to 44.6 while batting second. He needs runs with Steve Smith waiting for a chance.
  • Rishabh Pant – Pant has 144 runs from his 9 innings at an average of 18. With the captaincy responsibility, he would look to up the ante when he comes Kings this time around.
  • Marcus Stoinis – Stoinis has a good history of performing against his previous team. Also, guess what, he was part of the Kings’ camp earlier. While playing against them he has 3 wickets and 136 runs from 4 innings at an average of 68. 
  • Ravi Ashwin – Ashwin has the number of Universe Boss. In T20 he has dismissed him 8 times so far. Against Kings, he has 18 wickets from his 17 innings.
  • Chris Woakes –  As we wrote in our previous preview, Woaksey will be one to watch out for and he was been brilliant so far. Against Kings XI, he has 6 wickets from his 3 innings.
  • Kagiso Rabada – After returning to the playing 11, Rabada will be eager to get his favourite Purple Cap back. While playing against Kings, he has 8 wickets from his 5 innings.

Punjab Kings

  • KL Rahul – KL has 211 runs against Delhi at an average of 22.7 from his 7 innings. If KL scores, Punjab does well. Onus will be on him to lead his side after a one-sided loss.
  • Mayank Agarwal –  Surely just a matter of time until he is back among the runs. He will be a good choice of C/VC in Grand Leagues. In 8 matches against Capitals, he has 166 runs with an average of 20.75.
  • Chris Gayle – Universe Boss averages 43.5 against Delhi with 479 runs from 15 innings. He has smashed DC all over in the IPL. His battle with Ashwin will be key.
  • Nicholas Pooran – Nicky P has scored back-to-back ducks, but that does not necessarily mean that he is out of form. He will be a good pick in Grand Leagues teams. In 2 innings he has 53 runs at an average of 26.5. 
  • Deepak Hooda – Hooda is batting at a crucial position. Against Delhi, he has 96 runs from his 6 innings at an average of 17.85 but these records have come batting lower down the order.
  • Mohammad Shami – Shami has 8 wickets from his 4 innings vs DC at a strike rate of 11.4. He was not entirely impressive in the last match, and still got 2 wickets. So, watch out for him.

I think it will be a good surface, it may not have as much seam movement and may not be as tacky. What we have seen in the last game here is good skills from the pacers where the Rajasthan bowlers took the pace off the ball, bowled cutters, and hit good lengths with it. You can use that or you can do what Delhi did, they bowled that nice hard length into the surface, swung and seamed the ball and that worked for them. The dew starts to fall in the back-end of the contest and yorkers will have to come in big time if you are a bowling side”.

After the first week of the IPL, RCB is on top of the tree. They will be up now up against KKR for the 10th match of the IPL 2021 – a match that promises to be a cracker.

Million Dollar Baby! After a couple of ordinary seasons in the IPL, Mighty Maxwell was at his best in his 59 off 41 balls. Super Virat Kohli (33 off 29 balls) looked set for a big one until he chipped one in the air of Holder bowling. He was quite animated after that and fined after being found guilty of breaching the BCCI code of conduct. RCB managed a total of 149 runs in their 20 overs which were later defended on the back of a brilliant bowling display by them; a welcome change from previous years.

On the move, KKR played some really good cricket for most of the game against MI. They looked comfortable in the chase but made a few key mistakes in the backend of the chase. They just needed to bat around and complete the chase but played way too many shots. 31 needed off 30 with 6 wickets in hand, only to lose by 10 runs. Unbelievable choke it was, which also made the Superstar Shahrukh Khan apologise towards KKR fans who were scratching their heads.

Nitish Rana (57 off 47 balls) and Shubman Gill (33 off 24 balls) were the top scorers for KKR, whereas Andre Russell 5/15 vs MI in the last match was the 3rd best figure in a defeat.

  • Shahbaz Ahmed – Shahbaz was seen batting at no.3 in the last match and needless to say he will be quite confident after the last match. He has not played against KKR but he comes from the same state. Also, he is coming off a game-changing 3 wickets vs SRH.
  • Glenn Maxwell – Admit it! No matter which team you support, it feels good when Maxwell does what he does best. Against KKR he has 4 wickets 339 runs from his 14 innings at an average of 28.2. 
  • AB de Villiers – Mr.360 has 435 runs against KKR at an average of 33.5 from his 18 innings. His average goes up to 44.4 while batting first.
  • Washington Sundar – KKR batting revolves around left-handers which raises the fantasy value of RCB off-spinner. Against KKR he has 6 wickets from his 5 innings. He will be a good captain in GLs.
  • Mohammad Siraj – Last time when these two sides played, Siraj dismantled the KKR batting lineup single-handedly (3/8). He has 8 wickets from his 6 innings against KKR, and is coming off an impressive spell of 2/25 vs SRH.

Kolkata Knight Riders

  • Shubman Gill – Gill produced 33 runs off 24 balls in the last match. Against RCB he has batted twice as an opener and scored 35 runs.
