Imagine losing all three games in which you’ve scored 203, needed 9 off 6 and then 7 off 6.

After their latest Super Over defeat – their fourth in the past seven months – New Zealand may be wondering what they do next. It has raised significant questions as to whether they have the composure to seal the deal, as they risk becoming cricket’s “nearly men”, winning more hearts than they do big games.

India are likely to experiment further as they aim for a 5-0 clean sweep. If achieved, it will possibly be considered the least-dominant 5-0 series win in any format, ever. But, apart from key fielding issues, Virat Kohli’s men won’t mind too much, as the winning habit in a World T20 year is one to get used to.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • Colin Munro became the first player to pass 400 runs in New Zealand-India T20Is. He averages 41.00 with a SR of 146.78.
  • Munro is second with 163 runs in this series. In even better news for NZ, Munro has two hundreds and a half-century in five innings at Mount Maunganui, with an average of 61.40 and SR of 193.
  • Tim Seifert is clearly a top order player in T20Is. His 57 (39) swung the game in New Zealand’s favour in Wellington.
  • Martin Guptill’s 98 runs in four innings this series has been disappointing. However, he enjoys playing at this ground: 4 matches, 182 runs, avg. 45.50, SR: 152.94, 3 fifties.
  • KL Rahul has had a fine series. He currently leads the run-scoring list with 179, with two fifties in four innings. Also, KL’s lowest score is 27 in his last seven innings (369 runs, avg. 61.50).
  • It is likely one of Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma will be rested for this match. Both Kohli and Rohit have had excellent moments this series, despite not being at their best for the most part.
  • Also, Kane Williamson could be rested further to aid his shoulder complaint. If he does play, he will be one to watch (as always), with 95 in 3rd T20I + 170 runs in six innings (avg. 34.00) at his home ground.
  • India may rotate their bowlers as well, but if Shardul Thakur plays, he will have the chance to build on his man-of-the-match effort in Wellington.
  • Hamish Bennett has been very expensive this series (econ. 10.66), but has five wickets in his last two games.
  • Keep an eye out for who plays between Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. New Zealand could look to go hard in the middle overs, which can create wicket-taking opportunities.
  • Ish Sodhi has the equal-most wickets this series (6) and in T20Is at Mount Maunganui (10).

Other Key Stats

  • India had won one of five T20Is in New Zealand before this series. Now, they have won four straight.
  • The team batting first has won each of the five completed games on this ground.
  • The average first innings score in completed T20Is at the Bay Oval is 199.
  • New Zealand have won four of five T20Is at Bay Oval.

Key to a New Zealand win

It has been some series for New Zealand. If they start well, then their finish isn’t great. The opposite applies if they start poorly, with their recovery efforts strong. However, the lack of calmness and composure has been remarkable in this series. To win here (and avoid more memes), they must hold their own in the crunch stages.

Also, can the Black Caps take regular wickets as they did in Wellington? India could look at resting key players again, so putting pressure on their middle order as soon as possible will be the order of the day.

Key to an India win

Despite their fielding, which remains a key issue, India have found ways to come out on top multiple times in this series. If they can take their chances and save more runs in the field, they have the opportunity to build pressure on a New Zealand side that has seemingly forgotten how to win.

Also, this is a great opportunity for the likes of Sanju Samson, Manish Pandey and possibly Rishabh Pant. Whoever gets the nod for the top six need to take this opportunity with both hands, as the pressure of a series is not relevant here.

Possible Playing 11

Along with Kane Williamson, Martin Guptill is in doubt after colliding with Scott Kuggeleijn in the field during the 4th T20I.

New Zealand: 1. Martin Guptill, 2. Colin Munro, 3. Tim Seifert (wk), 4. Ross Taylor, 5. Tom Bruce, 6. Daryl Mitchell, 7. Mitchell Santner, 8. Scott Kuggleijn, 9. Tim Southee, 10. Ish Sodhi, 11. Hamish Bennett

According to ESPNCricinfo, Virat Kohli could be rested for India, with Rohit to lead the team. Also, Rishabh Pant could get a chance to play if India decide to rest KL Rahul.

India: 1. Rohit Sharma (c), 2. KL Rahul (wk), 3. Sanju Samson, 4. Shreyas Iyer, 5. Manish Pandey, 6. Shivam Dube, 7. Washington Sundar, 8. Shardul Thakur, 9. Kuldeep Yadav, 10. Navdeep Saini, 11. Jasprit Bumrah

Mount Maunganui Pitch Report and Conditions

As mentioned, the average first innings score in completed T20Is on this ground is 199. Also, the pitch for the New Zealand-England Test late last year was flat, part of the tradition of this being a good batting ground.

The forecast for Mount Maunganui is 28 degrees and mostly sunny.

The CommBank T20I International Tri-Series has an interesting feel to it.

Just weeks out from the World T20, the challenge has been handed down to Australia. On the wrong end of an incredible Super Over match vs England on Saturday, the Australians need to display their bounce back ability against an India side that has a win on the board.

India, despite their missed chances in the field, held their nerve to win first up against England. Now, ahead of a few days off before the series moves to Melbourne, India have the chance to build some nice momentum and confidence ahead of the World T20.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • Harmanpreet Kaur, fresh off a match-winning 42* vs England, is the leading run-scorer in India-Australia T20Is (353).
  • A close second is Australian skipper Meg Lanning, who will looking to bounce back after getting out for one against England. She has 351 runs vs India at an average of 39.00.
  • Can Alyssa Healy also kickstart her campaign? She has 225 runs vs India at a SR of 144.23, including the highest score by any player in India-Australia matches (90).
  • Smriti Mandhana is one of India’s finest T20 players. Her 218 runs against Australia come at an average in excess of 43, with a SR over 130.
  • Beth Mooney is in terrific touch. She stood out in Australia’s shaky run-chase vs England with 65 (45), on top of 86, 50*, 15 and 56 to finish off the WBBL late last year.
  • Can Shafali Verma (30 off 25) and Jemimah Rodrigues (26 off 20) build on their starts against England?
  • Ellyse Perry has batted just six times in 13 matches vs India (119 runs). However, she is generally in the wickets, with 15 in 13 games.
  • 18-year old Annabel Sutherland impressed on T20I debut, scoring 22 off 11 balls to help Australia into a Super Over vs England.
  • Poonam Yadav didn’t play in India’s opening game vs England. It will be interesting to see if she plays this game, as she has the most wickets for India vs Australia (7).
  • Megan Schutt has six wickets in four games vs India, and needs to bounce back after conceding 40 vs England.

Head to Head

  • Matches 15, Australia 11, India 4.
  • Australia have won three of the five past meetings against India.
  • India won the last meeting vs Australia, in World T20 2018.
T20I Tri-Series Match 3: AUS-W vs IND-W Dream11: A big game for Lanning.

Possible Playing 11

Australia: 1. Alyssa Healy (wk), 2. Beth Mooney, 3. Ashleigh Gardner, 4. Meg Lanning (c), 5. Ellyse Perry, 6. Rachael Haynes, 7. Jess Jonassen, 8. Annabel Sutherland, 9. Georgia Wareham, 10. Delissa Kimmince, 11. Megan Schutt

India: 1. Shafali Verma, 2. Smriti Mandhana, 3. Jemimah Rodrigues, 4. Harmanpreet Kaur (c), 5. Veda Krishnamurthy, 6. Tanya Bhatia (wk), 7. Deepti Sharma, 8. Shikha Pandey, 9. Pooja Vastrakar/Arundhati Reddy , 10. Rajeshwari Gayakwad, 11. Radha Yadav

Canberra Pitch Report and Conditions

After two days of 40+ degree heat in this series, the temperature reduces to a maximum of 34 degrees on Sunday. There is the chance of afternoon rain, which is what the people of ACT need with bushfires burning.

In terms of the pitch, scores in the region of 150 have been reached, so it is clear that a total in that region is needed to be competitive. However, there is the chance of a slower track on Sunday given two matches have been played on the ground, plus the heat.

The picture is clearer. Sydney Sixers took a huge step towards the BBL09 Title with a comprehensive win over Melbourne Stars on Friday, 24 hours after Hobart Hurricanes were knocked out on home turf.

So, can Sydney Thunder knock another team out on their home turf? They beat Adelaide Strikers on this ground on New Years’ Eve, but the Strikers have been strong since, despite their defeat to the Hurricanes last Sunday.

Who will hold their nerve to go on to play Melbourne Stars, who have lost four straight games themselves?

BBL09 Knockout: AS vs ST Dream11: Hales is in fine touch.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • There are some in-form batsmen from both sides in this clash, but arguably none more so than Alex Hales.
  • He has scored 85. 63, 47 and 60 in his last four innings, to now sit second in the BBL09 run-scoring chart with 509.
  • Also in good touch is Phil Salt. After a slow start to the season, Salt has roared into life into 67*, 13, 22, 59 and 66 in his past five innings.
  • However, he scored two ducks vs Thunder during the regular season. So, can he deliver against them in the most important game?
  • Jake Weatherald averages 14.25 in his past four innings. However, he scored 42 (33) and 52 (37) vs Thunder this season.
  • Alex Carey has the most runs in Strikers-Thunder matches (201). However, can his key partner, Travis Head, improve on his average of 18 in six innings vs Thunder?
  • Usman Khawaja is not far behind on 182 (avg. 60.67). Also, Khawaja found some welcome form last game with a half-century, along with Callum Ferguson who spent time at the crease with 33 (22).
  • Jono Wells’ fine form in the middle order can hold the Strikers in good stead. He has scored 444 runs in the tournament, dismissed only six times in 13 innings. Also, he scored 55* (32) and 26 (22) vs Thunder this season.
  • Daniel Sams continues to take wickets. He has gone wicketless only once in 15 games, with 27 wickets (including four in two games vs Strikers) to his name.
  • Chris Morris is in a similar boat, with 18 in 13 matches, to sit equal third with Rashid Khan. Interestingly, Rashid has taken just two wickets in his past four games, with an ER of 8.27.
  • Peter Siddle and Rashid have the equal most wickets in Thunder-Strikers games with nine each. Arjun Nair has eight.
  • Jono Cook is coming off a man-of-the-match performance in Hobart, taking 4/21.
  • Wes Agar went for 49 runs in his last game. However, his previous four games were impressive: 3/36, 2/20, 4/33, 2/15.

Head-to-Head

  • Matches 13, Strikers 6, Thunder 5, NR 2.
  • It is 2-2 between these sides at Adelaide Oval, with one NR.
  • Thunder beat Strikers in Adelaide on January 31. In the other game, bushfire smoke put a premature end to the match.

Possible Playing 11

Adelaide Strikers have named an unchanged 13-man squad for this match.

Adelaide Strikers: 1. Jake Weatherald, 2. Phil Salt, 3. Travis Head (c), 4. Alex Carey (wk), 5. Jono Wells, 6. Matthew Short, 7. Michael Neser, 8. Rashid Khan, 9. Peter Siddle, 10. Wes Agar, 11. Billy Stanlake/Liam O’Connor/Harry Conway

Sydney Thunder have also named an unchanged 13-man squad.

Sydney Thunder: 1. Usman Khawaja, 2. Alex Hales, 3. Callum Ferguson (c), 4. Alex Ross, 5. Chris Morris, 6. Daniel Sams, 7. Jay Lenton (wk), 8. Arjun Nair, 9. Brendan Doggett, 10. Chris Tremain, 11. Jono Cook

Adelaide Oval Pitch Report and Conditions

Earlier in the season, the Adelaide track favoured the slow bowlers, with some low-scoring totals. However, scores have picked up, none-more-so than the last match on the ground, where Matt Wade plundered 130* (61) on a batting paradise.

Both Strikers and Hurricanes scored over 200. Another fine batting track can be expected in overhead conditions that should be mostly clear after the chance of morning showers in Adelaide.

After India and England battled it out in the heat in the Tri-Series opener, hosts and World T20 favourites Australia enter the competition.

It is certainly a big year ahead for Australia. A wonderful side – arguably the finest the women’s game has ever seen, has inspired many around the country to take up the sport. Indeed, with World T20 Final to be played at the iconic MCG, it is a chance for the Australians to build momentum and confidence ahead of the big tournament.

For England, they need to bounce back after the first-up loss to India. Their total of 147 looked competitive, but key missed chances at the back-end of the game hurt them dearly. Can they bounce back 24 hours after playing in 40+ degree heat?

Squads

Australia: Meg Lanning (c), Rachael Haynes, Erin Burns, Nicola Carey, Ashleigh Gardner, Alyssa Healy (wk), Jess Jonassen, Delissa Kimmince, Sophie Molineux, Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, Megan Schutt, Annabel Sutherland, Tayla Vlaeminck, Georgia Wareham

England: Heather Knight (c), Tammy Beaumont, Katherine Brunt, Kate Cross, Freya Davies, Sophie Ecclestone, Georgia Elwiss, Sarah Glenn, Amy Jones (wk), Nat Sciver, Anya Shrubsole, Mady Villiers, Fran Wilson, Lauren Winfield, Danni Wyatt

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • Cricket fans, except those from the opposition, always look forward to watching Alyssa Healy. However, she averages just 17.77 in 24 innings vs England: can she improve on it this year?
  • Healy plundered a world-record 148* in her last T20I, albeit against a lesser opponent.
  • England will be keeping a very close eye on Meg Lanning. Australia’s skipper has an incredible 910 runs vs England in T20Is, at an average of 45.50. She scored an unforgettable 133* in last year’s Ashes series.
  • England will also have to deal with Ellyse Perry. Australia’s incredible all-rounder has 389 runs vs England (avg. 38.90) and 28 wickets (most out of any bowler) in 30 matches.
  • Megan Schutt is next on the wickets list with 24.
  • Beth Mooney (avg. 32 in 41 T20Is) had a strong finish to the WBBL: 86, 50*, 15, 56*.
  • Danielle Wyatt failed in the first game vs India. However, she is always a factor in T20 cricket, as her 454 runs vs Australia shows.
  • Heather Knight was Player of the Match vs India. However, she averages just 11 in 22 matches vs Australia. Amy Jones averages just 10 in nine games. Can they improve on it?
  • Natalie Sciver (20 and 1/34 vs India) is always a key player for England. She has 404 runs and 14 wickets in 21 T20Is vs Australia.
  • Tammy Beaumont looked solid enough during her innings at six vs India (37 off 27). She will be required to finish well again.
  • Katherine Brunt has 20 wickets in 20 games vs Australia (the most for England). She is coming off two wickets vs India on Friday.
  • Delissa Kimmince has 12 wickets in 10 T20Is vs England.

T20I Tri-Series Match 2: AUS-W vs ENG-W Dream11: Meg Lanning has a fine record vs England.

Head-to-Head

  • Matches 35, Australia 17, England 18.
  • Australia have won four of the past five T20Is between the two teams.

Possible Playing 11

Australia: 1. Alyssa Healy (wk), 2. Beth Mooney, 3. Meg Lanning (c), 4. Ellyse Perry, 5. Ashleigh Gardner, 6. Rachael Haynes, 7. Jess Jonassen, 8. Delissa Kimmince, 9. Georgia Wareham, 10. Tayla Vlaeminck/Nicola Carey, 11. Megan Schutt

England: 1. Amy Jones (wk), 2. Danielle Wyatt, 3. Natalie Sciver, 4. Heather Knight (c), 5. Fran Wilson, 6. Tammy Beaumont, 7. Lauren Winfield, 8. Katherine Brunt, 9. Anya Shrubsole, 10. Sophie Ecclestone, 11. Sarah Glenn/Kate Cross

Canberra Pitch Report and Conditions

It was 40+ degrees for the players on Friday. The same will be the case on Saturday. Add to this the possibility of bushfire smoke as ACT is now in a State of Emergency. It will certainly be a challenge for the players.

Towards the end of their innings, Natalie Sciver said the pitch was quite slow, which is why England would have been disappointed to lose with 147 on the board vs India. With the heat baking the pitch, any score in that region will be competitive.

BBL09 Qualifier: MS vs SS Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | MS vs SS Dream11 Today | Melbourne Stars vs Sydney Sixers Preview Dream11 | Melbourne Stars vs Sydney Sixers Key Players | MS vs SS Dream11 Prediction

Finishing first has been a curse throughout BBL history. Only once has the top-placed team gone on to win the tournament, so it will be interesting to see whether the change in the BBL Finals’ format changes this.

Melbourne Stars, though, need to focus on a strong performance. They come into the playoffs on the back of three straight losses, and while they shouldn’t be too worried about that, it is important they hit their stride right away in the games that really matter.

Why? Because Sydney Sixers are certainly a danger opponent. They have been thereabouts consistently in the BBL playoffs, and now have the chance to haunt the Stars in a playoffs situation to go straight to the Final.

So, will the Stars overcome their awful record in playoffs and prove their doubters wrong? Or will the Sixers put them under too much pressure that they can’t cope?

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • Stars vs Sixers at MCG? Marcus Stoinis should be excited. He scored a BBL-record 147* (79) against Sixers on this ground earlier in BBL09. Also, he is ready to bowl.
  • Glenn Maxwell has the most runs in Stars-Sixers matches by some distance (411). No other player even has 300 in this meeting.
  • In such a crucial game, Maxwell needs to have a big impact. The Stars need him to at least meet his average of 45 and SR 163.75 vs Sixers.
  • How brilliant was Moises Henriques when these sides met just under two weeks ago? His 72 (31) turned the game in Sixers’ favour.
  • Henriques averaged 13 vs Stars before BBL09. This season, he has scored 41 (30) and 72 (31) against them.
  • Steve Smith is coming off a fine 66* (40) vs Renegades.
  • Josh Philippe has the potential to derail the Stars’ hopes. He has scored 52* and 61 in his last two games, after a lean run of form. Can he improve on his average of 8 in four games against them?
  • James Vince has also looked in decent touch in recent games, but has to go on with his starts. He has made 20+ in six of his last 10 games, with one fifty. However, he did score a fine 41* (22) vs Stars.
  • Tom Curran has left for England duty. But, Sean Abbott, who took 11 wickets in five BBL09 games, returns from injury. Can he have an immediate impact?
  • Another big name in BBL is also back: Haris Rauf. He has been one of the big stars of the tournament, with 16 wickets in seven matches.
  • There will be no Sandeep Lamichhane, so Adam Zampa will have a key role to play as the Stars’ lead spinner. He has taken 2/19, 1/22 and 3/27 in his last three games in Melbourne.
  • Ben Dwarshuis has the most wickets in Stars-Sixers matches (12).

BBL09 Qualifier: MS vs SS Dream11: Stoinis to go big?

Head-to-Head

  • Matches 12, Stars 7, Sixers 5.
  • Stars lead 4-2 in meetings at the MCG.
  • Both sides won a game each against each other in BBL09. Marcus Stoinis (147*) and Moises Henriques (71) were the stars.

Possible Playing 11

The Stars’ batting line-up has changed multiple times throughout the season. Now, in a game that is important to win, it remains to be seen what approach they go with.

Melbourne Stars: 1. Seb Gotch (wk), 2. Marcus Stoinis, 3. Nick Larkin, 4. Peter Handscomb, 5. Glenn Maxwell (c), 6. Nic Maddinson, 7. Nathan Coulter-Nile, 8. Clint Hinchliffe, 9. Adam Zampa, 10. Haris Rauf, 11. Daniel Worrall

Sean Abbott replaces Tom Curran in the Sixers’ 13-man squad.

Sydney Sixers: 1. Josh Philippe (wk), 2. James Vince, 3. Steve Smith. 4. Moises Henriques (c), 5. Daniel Hughes, 6. Jordan Silk, 7. Sean Abbott, 8. Ben Dwarshuis, 9. Steve O’Keefe, 10. Nathan Lyon, 11. Josh Hazlewood

MCG Pitch Report and Conditions

A very hot day in Melbourne (41 degrees). There is a chance for an evening shower, but it’s minimal.

In terms of the pitch, the MCG track has had something in it for everyone in BBL09. AB de Villiers lit up the place with a superb display of hitting, along with Marcus Stoinis vs Sixers earlier in the tournament.

The winner of this match could very well go on to win the tournament. It is that important.

Sydney Sixers have been in better form in recent games, but you get the feeling the Stars have been waiting for this one after sewing up first spot a few weeks back. So, it promises to be a great game.

However, despite this, the Sixers side looks very good on paper, and could just nip this one out in a close match.

India created history after winning an absolute rollercoaster of a game in a Super Over. In the process, they managed to win a T20I series for the first time in New Zealand.

Mohammed Shami and Rohit Sharma starred for the visitors, while Kane Williamson was, again, at the receiving end of heartbreak. His superb 95 and New Zealand’s 17 in the Super Over were not enough to keep them alive in the series, as they now look to avoid a 4-0 deficit.

Now, the caravan moves to Wellington for the 4th T20I of the five-match series. Can New Zealand pick up their first win?

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • KL Rahul is in the form of his life. He is the highest scorer for India in this series with 140 runs from three games at an average of 70.
  • Rohit Sharma finally hit form as he scored 65 off 40 and hit two consecutive sixes in the Super Over to steal the game for his team.
  • Virat Kohli hasn’t had a great series according to his reputation and he’ll like to score big in this match.
  • Shreyas Iyer has been the X-factor for India in the middle overs. He has scored 119 runs in the series – second highest for India.
  • Kane Williamson showed his class in the last game, scoring 95 off just 48 balls, nearly taking his side over the line. He got the better of Bumrah, which is difficult to achieve.
  • Ravindra Jadeja is the joint highest wicket-taker of the series with Shardul Thakur (four wickets each).
  • India lost by a big 80 runs when they last played in Wellington. Tim Seifert was man of the match (however, he was opening).
  • Santner and Sodhi took four wickets between them in that match. Tim Southee took a 3-for.

Other Key Points

  • Teams chasing (6) have won more than teams batting first (5) on this ground.
  • Spinners & slow bowlers tend to get a little more assistance on this wicket.
  • Average first innings score at Wellington is 170+, so we can expect another high scoring encounter.

Key to an India Win

The Indian batting has been phenomenal till now, but the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will want some more runs under their belt. They’ll also want to improve their fielding under the lights too. Also, Jasprit Bumrah had a rare off-day and he’ll surely want to come back stronger, should India select him.

Key to a New Zealand Win

The Kiwis have nothing to lose and will play for pride in the remaining two matches. The top order is performing well but they’ll want some bigger scores from the openers.

There is a case that Ross Taylor is being wasted down the order. So, could New Zealand move him to four to hold things together, while scoring quickly? Also, Tim Seifert has to step-up and finish the innings as New Zealand would like, to justify their decision to have him down the order.

Possible Playing 11

India is expected to make few changes in the squad, as Virat said in the post-match interview. They might give a chance to Samson, Saini & Pant. Bumrah might be rested.

India: 1. KL Rahul (wk), 2. Rohit Sharma, 3. Virat Kohli (c) 4. Shreyas Iyer 5. Manish Pandey/Sanju Samson 6. Shivam Dube/Rishabh Pant 7. Ravindra Jadeja 8. Shardul Thakur 9. Mohammed Shami 10. Jasprit Bumrah/ Navdeep Saini 11. Yuzvendra Chahal

Tom Bruce is expected to replace the struggling Colin deGrandhomme.

New Zealand: 1. Colin Munro, 2. Martin Guptill, 3. Kane Williamson (c), 4. Ross Taylor, 5. Tim Seifert (wk) 6. Tom Bruce 7. Mitchell Santner, 8.Scott Kuggeleijn 9. Tim Southee 10. Ish Sodhi 11. Hamish Benett

Pitch Report and Conditions

The Westpac Stadium is another typical Kiwi ground with not so big boundaries and a belter of a wicket. Fast Bowlers who hit the deck hard are useful while spinners and bowlers with variations have had success in the latter half of the game.

Some cloud cover is forecast for this clash, but minimal/no rain is expected.

T20I Tri-Series Match 1: IND-W vs ENG-W Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | IND-W vs ENG-W Dream11 | India Women vs England Women Preview Dream11 Prediction | IND-W vs ENG-W Dream11 Prediction Today

With arguably the most-anticipated Women’s World T20 fast approaching, Australia, England and India battle it out in a Tri-Series.

First up, India and England go head-to-head in the quest for momentum and confidence ahead of the big tournament. England have had the wood over India in T20Is, winning the last four meetings between the teams, including three in 2019.

Can India come good in Canberra or will England make it five straight?

Squads:

England: Heather Knight (c), Tammy Beaumont, Katherine Brunt, Kate Cross, Freya Davies, Sophie Ecclestone, Georgia Elwiss, Sarah Glenn, Amy Jones (wk), Nat Sciver, Anya Shrubsole, Mady Villiers, Fran Wilson, Lauren Winfield, Danni Wyatt

India: Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Harleen Deol, Veda Krishnamurthy, Taniya Bhatia (wk), Deepti Sharma, Shikha Pandey, Pooja Vastrakar, Poonam Yadav, Radha Yadav, Arundhati Reddy, Rajeshwari Gaekwad, Richa Ghosh

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • Danielle Wyatt loves the T20 format. She is five away from 1,500 runs, with a strike rate of 125.41.
  • Also, she is the leading run-scorer in India-England T20Is out of anyone in the two squads, with 315 runs (avg. 35, SR: 132.35).
  • Smriti Mandhana is currently India’s top scorer vs England with 257 (avg. 36.71). What’s more impressive though is her SR: 146.02.
  • India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur is always one to watch. She will like to improve on her average of 20 in 13 matches vs England.
  • Amy Jones had an excellent series vs Pakistan recently, scoring 53, 89 and 37 in her last three knocks. Also, she has 99 runs at 33.00 vs India.
  • Tammy Beaumont was one who shone in England’s tough Ashes campaign last year. Also, she scored 99 runs in three innings vs India in India in 2019.
  • Katherine Brunt has the most wickets in India-England matches (15). Deepti Sharma has the most in the India’s squad with seven.
  • Heather Knight and Natalie Sciver both average less than 20 with the bat vs India in T20Is. However, their bowling and batting abilities make them key players.
  • Poonam Yadav and Radha Yadav were in the wickets against England last year. Out of three innings, only Poonam finished wicketless once.

Canberra Pitch Report and Conditions

Everyone is watchful as bushfires are burning in Canberra. As a result, smoke haze has been prominent, and the air-quality will be monitored throughout the series.

The forecast is for a very, very hot 40 degrees. So, you feel the slow bowlers will have a key role to play on a traditionally slower Canberra pitch.

5 Players Who Must Perform in IPL 2020

5 Players Who Must Perform in IPL 2020 | 5 Under-Pressure Players Who Have a Point to Prove in IPL 2020 | 5 Players to Watch in IPL 2020

IPL 2020 is fast approaching. The predictions are flying from all directions, as is the banter, after an eventful IPL Auction.

Every year, many players announce themselves to the world. However, at the same time, players also lose their place in the squad.

IPL is the biggest and toughest T20 league around the globe. And with the level of competition, one has to keep performing consistently. In this article, we will take a look at five such players who have to perform in the upcoming season to prove a point somewhat, contribute to their team and keep their place in the league.

5. Lasith Malinga

It may surprise many, given the magnificent career this man has had. Also, this man bowled an incredible final over in last year’s thrilling IPL Final.

However, Lasith Malinga has to perform to keep his side in the Mumbai Indians XI. Although Malinga has been a great asset for MI, fitness is not quite on his side. In recent times, he has also lost some venom in his bowling.

So, with Trent Boult and Nathan Coulter-Nile in the squad, the Sri Lankan legend has to perform and it will be interesting to see how he goes in IPL 2020.

5 Players Who Must Perform in IPL 2020 | 5 Under-Pressure Players Who Have a Point to Prove in IPL 2020 | 5 Players to Watch in IPL 2020
Can legend Lasith Malinga contribute to MI in IPL 2020?

4. Amit Mishra

The hat-trick man of IPL, Amit Mishra, has not been in his prime for the Delhi Capitals in the last two seasons.

He picked up 11 wickets in 11 games last season, which is not bad for a bowler but he’ll want to improve on that, particularly at the spin-friendly Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium.

Also, with the likes of Sandeep Lamichhane, Axar Patel and now Ashwin in the DC camp, Mishra has to perform.

A big season coming for Amit Mishra

3. Piyush Chawla

One of the most surprising picks of the auction.

Piyush Chawla was picked up by the Chennai Super Kings, after being released by Kolkata Knight Riders after his average performance in the past few seasons.

Chawla took 10 wickets from 13 matches in IPL 2019, with an economy rate of 8.96.

He’ll play for CSK in the 2020 season and with the number of spin options available in the CSK squad, he will have to perform in every game he gets to play to give MS Dhoni and co. no choice but to play him.

5 Players Who Must Perform in IPL 2020 | 5 Under-Pressure Players Who Have a Point to Prove in IPL 2020 | 5 Players to Watch in IPL 2020
Can Piyush Chawla contribute to CSK in IPL 2020?

2. David Miller

David Miller, known for his brute hitting in the death overs, has been below average in the last few seasons.

He scored 213 runs in 10 matches in IPL 2019, with a strike rate of 129.87. He was eventually released by Kings XI Punjab as a result of his inability to be the consistent finisher they needed.

He’s been picked by the Rajasthan Royals for this season. Because he’s not expected to get many games this season, Miller has to show what he’s capable of if/when he gets the chance.

5 Players Who Must Perform in IPL 2020 | 5 Under-Pressure Players Who Have a Point to Prove in IPL 2020 | 5 Players to Watch in IPL 2020
Can David Miller rediscover his best, consistently?

1. Robin Uthappa

Robin Uthappa has not been able to perform to his standards after he won the Orange Cap in 2014 that helped KKR win the title.

Uthappa has made only two 50+ scores in the last two years. He scored 282 runs from 12 matches in 2019 at a strike-rate of just 115.10, which is poor for a top-order batsman in this format. The innings that stood out most was his almighty struggle in the final league game vs Mumbai Indians.

Now, Robin has been picked by Rajasthan Royals and it’ll be interesting to see how he performs in IPL 2020. Can he rediscover the kind of form that made him one of the most talked about players in IPL? We shall see.

5 Players Who Must Perform in IPL 2020 | 5 Under-Pressure Players Who Have a Point to Prove in IPL 2020 | 5 Players to Watch in IPL 2020
Can Robin Uthappa deliver for RR in IPL 2020?

So, these were our top 5 players who have to perform in IPL 2020. Who are yours?

BBL09 Eliminator: HH vs ST Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | HH vs ST Dream11 | Hobart Hurricanes vs Sydney Thunder Preview Dream11 | Hobart Hurricanes vs Sydney Thunder Key Players | HH vs ST Dream11 Prediction Today

Preview sponsored by MyClubtap: Create your own Fantasy Teams for your own club/league games!

So, here we are. After six weeks and 56 games, five teams remain as the BBL09 playoffs are set to get underway.

Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Thunder are two sides who looked unlikely to reach this stage. Thanks to the Heat and Scorchers finishing poorly, both teams qualified with more losses than wins.

But, the Hurricanes are arguably the competition’s form team right now. Hampered by international duty and injuries to key players, they looked down-and-out with three games remaining. After all, it is only two weeks ago that they were rolled for 98 by the Scorchers in Hobart.

Now, they look a different side. Matthew Wade and D’Arcy Short have elevated the Hurricanes to another level, and if they continue their strong form, all teams better watch out.

It was less than a week ago since the Thunder were thrashed on this very ground by 54 runs. So, perfect revenge for the men in green will be to knock the Hurricanes out and progress to a meeting with the Strikers on Saturday.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • Matthew Wade is in outstanding form. He is coming off the second-highest individual score in BBL history (130* off 61 balls).
  • He plundered 56 (34) last week vs Thunder. His last three scores read: 66 (29), 56 (34) and 130* (61).
  • D’Arcy Short has also hit the ground running since his return, with both bat and ball. Wade will be sure to give Short a bowl, given he took five wickets vs Thunder last week.
  • Mac Wright wasn’t needed last game vs Strikers. However, his form has been superb since coming back into the team: 70* (50) and 64 (45). His 64 came against the Thunder on this ground.
  • Alex Hales is also one of the form batsmen in the competition. He scored 63 (42) vs Hurricanes last week, part of 327 runs in his past eight innings at an average of 46.27.
  • Also, Hales finished equal second with 449 runs in the BBL09 regular season.
  • Usman Khawaja and Callum Ferguson have not had the best run of form. Khawaja has 192 runs in his past 10 knocks at 19.20. Ferguson has 179 runs at 22.34.
  • This will be George Bailey’s last ever home game in BBL. His record against the Thunder is brilliant (315 runs at 78.75). Also, he scored 43 (30) and 29 (10) against Thunder this season.
  • Daniel Sams finished with the most wickets in the BBL09 regular season (25). Also, he took 4/34 vs Hurricanes on this ground last week.
  • Chris Morris is also key to Thunder’s hopes. He has taken 15 wickets in 12 BBL matches. He can hold his own with the bat, despite a poor season, as evident in his 10 runs off two balls to win the last game.
  • Nathan Ellis has been one of the biggest positives of the Hurricanes’ season. He is their go-to-guy at the death – Ellis has taken five wickets in his last four games, all in the death overs.
  • Also, Scott Boland has been a big positive for Hurricanes. He has taken 14 wickets in nine BBL09 games, going wicketless just once.

Head-to-Head

Key to a Hobart Hurricanes win

Matthew Wade’s form has driven the Hurricanes to new heights in recent games. With the Wade-Short partnership rekindled at the top, the Hurricanes will be looking for these two to set the strongest of platforms, just as they did last time out in Adelaide.

Also, the Hurricanes’ bowling has held up well in recent games. The loss of Riley Meredith earlier in the season could have been fatal, but Scott Boland and Nathan Ellis have dug deep to keep the Hurricanes alive. If they can get through the Thunder top three, particularly Alex Hales, the Hurricanes will be on their way.

Key to a Sydney Thunder win

The wickets of Matthew Wade and D’Arcy Short are the biggest priority. While the Hurricanes have capable players in their middle order, the Thunder can put them under pressure in a knockout game if they can break the opening stand early.

However, they need more from Usman Khawaja and Callim Ferguson. Their numbers in the second half of the season have not been worthy of their respective abilities, so it’s up to them, along with Hales, to match or beat Hurricanes’ top three.

Possible Playing 11

Simon Milenko returns to the Hurricanes’ 13-man squad, replacing David Miller, who has left for national duty. George Bailey, in his final game at home, against a team he enjoys playing, could be elevated to four.

Hobart Hurricanes: 1. Matthew Wade (c), 2. D’Arcy Short, 3. Mac Wright, 4. George Bailey, 5. Ben McDermott (wk), 6. Simon Milenko, 7. James Faulkner, 8. Clive Rose, 9. Nathan Ellis, 10. Qais Ahmad, 11. Scott Boland

Brendan Doggett comes into the Thunder 13-man squad for Gurinder Sandhu.

Sydney Thunder: 1. Usman Khawaja, 2. Alex Hales, 3. Callum Ferguson (c), 4. Alex Ross, 5. Jay Lenton (wk), 6. Chris Morris, 7. Daniel Sams, 8. Arjun Nair, 9. Brendan Doggett, 10. Chris Tremain, 11. Jono Cook/Liam Bowe

With the return of key players, Hobart Hurricanes are now a key team to watch in BBL09. They were too good for Thunder a week ago, and one feels they will be good enough again.

However, it could ultimately depend on how Wade and Short perform. If the Thunder can bowl well, they are right in with a chance.

The context ahead of the series was this: A number of New Zealand’s players were playing at home in the T20 Super Smash; excellent preparation for this series. India, on the other hand, had completed their ODI series against Australia on Sunday the 19th, before hopping on a plane on the 21st, with the first T20I on the 24th.

When you couple this with India’s T20I record in New Zealand before the series (one win in five matches), their 2-0 series lead looks all-the-more impressive. Their bowling performance in the second T20I, where they restricted New Zealand to just 132, was superb, and now have the chance to seal the series at a ground they lost narrowly at last year.

NZ vs IND 3rd T20I Preview Dream11: KL Rahul – one to watch again.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • KL Rahul can do it all at the moment. He has done well with the gloves, which is second-fiddle to his fine white-ball batting.
  • He has struck two half centuries in this series, including one unbeaten. This is to go with his 45 and 54 vs SL + ODI runs vs Australia, earlier this month.
  • Rohit Sharma doesn’t usually fail three times in a row in a series. Is this the match he fires in?
  • Virat Kohli has looked in good touch this series, despite being strangled down the legside last game. Also, his energetic fielding always keeps him in the game.
  • But, it was India’s bowlers who set up the last match. Ravindra Jadeja has taken 1/18 and 2/18 this series, with the latter spell a special one due to no boundaries being conceded on the small Eden Park ground.
  • New Zealand failed to score a boundary between overs 10-15 in the second T20I. So, Colin de Grandhomme, with scores of 0 and 3, has to step up.
  • But, before that, at least one of Colin Munro or Martin Guptill needs to go big.
  • Munro is the only player to score 300+ runs in NZ-India T20Is. His average (41.62) and SR (153.45) are impressive numbers. Also, he was Player of the Match on this ground vs India last year.
  • Guptill is the leading run-scorer at Seddon Park with 287 in six matches (avg. 71.75, SR: 144.22).
  • Kane Williamson also goes well at Seddon Park: 155 runs, avg. 77.50, SR: 144.85. Can he and Ross Taylor fire like they did in match one?
  • Shivam Dube is enjoying a solid series with the ball so far, supporting the frontline bowlers well (one wicket in each match).
  • Could India look at recalling Kuldeep Yadav? He took 2/26 on this ground last year.
  • Ish Sodhi is the leading wicket-taker in NZ-India T20Is. He has taken three this series so far, taking his tally to 14. Mitchell Santner (10) and Tim Southee (9) are next.
  • Jasprit Bumrah has been superb this series. The value he provides for India goes beyond just his wickets, but also his economy rate in the powerplay and death overs. Is he due for a big haul?

Other Key Points

  • Teams batting first have won the last four T20 matches at Seddon Park in Hamilton.
  • India have now won three of seven T20Is in New Zealand. They have never won a T20I series on NZ soil, so here is their chance.
  • New Zealand have won seven of nine T20Is at Seddon Park.

Possible Playing 11

It is possible that Scott Kuggeleijn could come in for New Zealand.

New Zealand: 1. Martin Guptill, 2. Colin Munro, 3. Kane Williamson (c), 4. Colin de Grandhomme, 5. Ross Taylor, 6. Tim Seifert (wk), 7. Mitchell Santner, 8. Ish Sodhi, 9. Tim Southee, 10. Blair Tickner/Scott Kuggeleijn, 11. Hamish Bennett

Shreyas Iyer was struggling with a knee injury in the last game, but was able to bat. Again, the change India could make is Navdeep Saini for Shardul Thakur.

India: 1. Rohit Sharma, 2. KL Rahul (wk), 3. Virat Kohli (c), 4. Shreyas Iyer, 5. Manish Pandey, 6. Shivam Dube, 7. Ravindra Jadeja, 8. Shardul Thakur/Navdeep Saini, 9. Yuzvendra Chahal, 10. Mohammed Shami, 11. Jasprit Bumrah

Seddon Park Hamilton Pitch Report and Conditions

There have been nine scores of 185+ in nine T20Is at Seddon Park. Last year, these two teams played out a 212 vs 208 match. This ground is typically a belter for batting.

There is a slight chance of a shower in the evening in Hamilton.
