It is safe to say both these teams entered BBL09 with optimism.

After all, Sydney Sixers have been regulars when it comes to the playoffs stages of BBL. Melbourne Renegades were coming off their first ever title, and had a squad full of experience; arguably even stronger with the addition of Shaun Marsh.

But, the Sixers and Renegades have had very contrasting campaigns. Shaun Marsh and Sam Harper, two key players for the Renegades, are out. Worse, a bottom-placed finish is certain. The Sixers, on the other hand, are still gunning for a top two berth, which makes this a vital, final game for them.

BBL09 Match 52: SS vs MR Dream11: Finch is back.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • Amid the doom and gloom, Renegades do welcome back Aaron Finch and Kane Richardson for this clash. Finch has 219 runs vs Sixers at an average above 31.
  • Moises Henriques is the highest sun-scorer in Sixers-Renegades matches (275). Also, Henriques scored 72 (41) in his last game at SCG.
  • James Vince has looked in supreme touch in his last two outings: 41* (22) vs Stars and 51 (37) vs Heat. Also, Vince was Player of the Match in the Renegades-Sixers clash earlier this season (41 off 26 balls).
  • Steve Smith has been in excellent white-ball form of late. His 9 last game was an exception to the rule.
  • Beau Webster: Biggest positive of the season for Renegades. He has nine double-figure scores in his last 10 knocks, including seven scores of 25 or more.
  • Tom Curran has scored 68 runs at SR 141.67, along with four wickets, in three matches against Renegades. He remains a crucial player, despite going for 58 runs against this opposition earlier in BBL09.
  • Mohammad Nabi is coming off a superb 63 (30) vs Hurricanes, along with 1/24. Also, Nabi has seven wickets in three games vs Sixers.
  • Kane Richardson was the top wicket-taker last season. Now, he returns with 10 wickets in seven BBL09 games.
  • Steve O’Keefe and Nathan Lyon worked beautifully in tandem on a Brisbane pitch that offered some turn a few nights ago. They could have an impact again on the typically-slower SCG track.
  • Ben Dwarshuis is the second highest wicket-taker in Sixers-Renegades matches (9).
  • Cameron Boyce in his past two matches: 4/15 and 2/27.

Head-to-Head

  • Matches 11, Sixers 6, Renegades 5.
  • It is locked at 2-2 between these two sides at the SCG.

Possible Playing 11

Josh Hazlewood is back in the Sixers’ 13-man squad, and will lineup in place of Jackson Bird (likely).

Sydney Sixers: 1. Josh Philippe (wk), 2. James Vince, 3. Steve Smith, 4. Daniel Hughes, 5. Moises Henriques (c), 6. Jordan Silk, 7. Tom Curran, 8. Ben Dwarshuis, 9. Steve O’Keefe, 10. Nathan Lyon, 11. Josh Hazlewood

Shaun Marsh (hamstring) and Sam Harper (concussion) are out. Aaron Finch and Kane Richardson are available, with debutant Brayden Stepien a chance to open as a replacement keeper-batsman for Harper. More info on Stepien here.

Also, talented young seamer Zak Evans is a chance of playing after returning from a back injury.

Melbourne Renegades: 1. Aaron Finch (c), 2. Brayden Stepien (wk), 3. Beau Webster, 4. Tom Cooper, 5. Daniel Christian, 6. Mohammad Nabi, 7. Samit Patel, 8. Cameron Boyce, 9. Jack Wildermuth, 10. Kane Richardson, 11. Zak Evans

SCG Pitch Report and Conditions

A light shower or two during the day is a possibility for Sydney. However, it shouldn’t be anywhere near enough to deny a result.

In regards to the pitch, the SCG track is typically on the slower side, catering for some tight spin bowling in the powerplay and middle overs.

After much deliberation and back-and-forth, Bangladesh’s tour of Pakistan is finally here.

The tour is split over three legs, with the first of three T20Is to take place in Lahore. Bangladesh performed admirably in India, but will now need a team effort in the absence for Mushfiqur Rahim (opted out of tour amid family’s concerns) and Shakib Al Hasan (suspended).

Pakistan, still the number one ranked team, are on an awful run. They have lost their past six completed T20Is, including a 3-0 defeat at home to Sri Lanka in October last year. Experience and new-comers come into the squad for the second day T20 in Lahore in six years in the quest to get out of the rut they are in.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • Out of the Bangladesh squad, only Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah have played a T20I in Pakistan.
  • Tamim Iqbal averages just 14.55 in nine T20Is vs Pakistan. Mahmudullah fares worse, averaging 8.14 in 10 matches.
  • Mohammad Hafeez returns to the Pakistan team. He is the second highest run-scorer in Pakistan-Bangladesh T20Is (193).
  • Shoaib Malik, also in the Pakistan squad, has 150 runs and six wickets vs Bangladesh in eight games.
  • Of course, who could forget Babar Azam? He scored two half-centuries in Pakistan’s poor showing in the T20Is in Australia. Also, he averages 50.17 after 36 T20Is.
  • Mohammad Naim impressed for Bangladesh in their recent tour of India. The 20-year old scored 26, 38 and 81.
  • All eyes will be on Haris Rauf. The BBL09 sensation, who took 16 wickets in seven games, will be keen to impress on Pakistan debut.
  • Shaheen Shah Afridi took 6/35 in the 50-over World Cup vs Bangladesh. He enjoys this opponent.
  • Mustafizur Rahman can be expensive at times, but given he bowls in the crunch overs, wickets are a possibility.

Head-to-Head

  • Matches 10, Pakistan 8, Bangladesh 2.
  • This will be the first T20 between the sides in Pakistan since 2008. Pakistan won that match by 102 runs in Karachi.
  • Shoaib Malik scored 35 (18) and Tamim Iqbal scored 23 (17).

Pakistan have made a host of changes, with Imam-ul-Haq, Haris Sohail and Mohammad Amir (controversially) not in the squad.

Pakistan: 1. Ahsan Ali, 2. Babar Azam (c), 3. Mohammad Hafeez, 4. Shoaib Malik, 5. Iftikhar Ahmed, 6. Imad Wasim, 7. Mohammad Rizwan (wk), 8. Shadab Khan, 9. Haris Rauf, 10. Shaheen Afridi 11. Mohammad Hasnain

Bangladesh will be without the services of Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan. However, Tamim Iqbal is back, and has to deliver.

Bangladesh: 1. Tamim Iqbal, 2. Mohammad Naim, 3. Afif Hossain, 4. Liton Das (wk), 5. Mahmudullah (c), 6. Soumya Sarkar, 7. Mahedi Hasan, 8. Aminul Islam, 9. Shafiul Islam, 10. Mustafizur Rahman, 11. Al-Amin Hossain

Gaddafi Stadium Lahore Pitch Report and Conditions

The Lahore track has a brown look and feel, which reportedly looks like a belter for batting. Sri Lanka scored 182 and 165 in their wins in Lahore in October 2019.

Also, the weather forecast looks good but cool, with a top of 17 degrees and no rain.

BBL09 Match 51: PS vs AS Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | PS vs AS Dream11 Today | Perth Scorchers vs Adelaide Strikers Preview Dream11 Prediction | Perth Scorchers vs Adelaide Strikers Key Players | PS vs AS Dream11 Prediction Today

After a brutal schedule over the past two weeks, Perth Scorchers have finally had the chance to stay put in a single location between matches.

The Scorchers were brilliant in their dominant win vs Thunder a few nights ago, and now have their second game in a row in Perth. It is sweet news for the players who have spent tens of hours on flights so far in 2020, ahead of a crucial game against another top five rival.

Adelaide Strikers still have the chance to seal a top two berth in BBL09. Given that a top two finish guarantees either a final appearance or a second chance, the Strikers will be out for a very strong finish to the league stage to play the Stars in the Qualifier next week; a team they have beaten twice in BBL09.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • Jake Weatherald (83 off 47), Alex Carey (55 off 24), Josh Inglis (50 off 27) and Liam Livingstone (69 off 26) were the star batsmen in the Strikers-Scorchers meeting earlier this season.
  • Josh Inglis is enjoying a wonderful run of form: 51, 28, 73, 37, 12, 58.
  • He and Liam Livingstone have the most runs of any opening partnership in BBL09.
  • Jono Wells has had a superb season. He sits third for run-scorers in BBL09 with 406. He has been dismissed just five times in 11 innings, averaging 81.20 overall.
  • Can Travis Head produce an all-round display and improve his overall record vs Scorchers? He has 143 runs at 20.43 vs Scorchers, along with two wickets in three innings.
  • Mitch Marsh is striking at 151 in BBL09 (367 runs). His record at Perth has been impressive this season: 223 runs, avg. 74.33.
  • The two Ashton’s: Ashton Turner and Ashton Agar, return for Scorchers. They add key batting and bowling depth.
  • Jhye Richardson has been in fine touch, with 10 wickets in his last six matches. Also, he was Player of the Match in the corresponding match vs Strikers last season.
  • This will be Chris Jordan’s final match in BBL09 before he heads off for England duty. He is coming off 3/28 vs Thunder and has 14 wickets in 11 matches this season.
  • Rashid Khan’s three wickets turned the game against Scorchers earlier this season. He is always a factor with the ball.
  • Wes Agar has six wickets in his past two matches.
  • Fawad Ahmed has taken at least one wicket in every game in Perth so far in BBL09.

Head-to-Head

  • Matches 15, Scorchers 8, Strikers 7.
  • Scorchers looked to have the game won when Inglis and Livingstone battered the Strikers’ bowlers to all parts of the Adelaide Oval. But, Strikers roared back to win the earlier meeting this season.
  • Scorchers bowled Strikers out for 88 in Perth last season. However, that was a green pitch compared to the good batting surface available now.

Ashton Turner and Ashton Agar are back in the Scorchers’ 13-man squad, in for Cameron Green and Liam Guthrie respectively.

Perth Scorchers: 1. Josh Inglis (wk), 2. Liam Livingstone, 3. Cameron Bancroft, 4. Mitchell Marsh (c), 5. Ashton Turner, 6. Kurtis Patterson, 7. Ashton Agar, 8. Chris Jordan, 9. Jhye Richardson, 10. Matt Kelly, 11. Fawad Ahmed

Adelaide Strikers have named an unchanged 13-man squad from their win over Stars a couple of nights ago.

Adelaide Strikers: 1. Jake Weatherald, 2. Phil Salt, 3. Travis Head (c), 4. Alex Carey (wk), 5. Jono Wells, 6. Matthew Short, 7. Michael Neser, 8. Rashid Khan, 9. Peter Siddle, 10. Wes Agar, 11. Billy Stanlake

Optus Stadium Pitch Report and Conditions

Sydney Thunder scored 153/5 on Monday night at this ground. They were well short, scoring below the average winning first innings score of 190.75 this season.

So, the moral of the story is: if you bat first, you need to bat well.

READ: BBL09 Eliminator: Hobart Hurricanes vs Sydney Thunder Dream11 January 30, 2020

The ninth BBL season reaches its 50th game. With a number of changes in the make up of the table across so many games, it now comes to a very significant game for both these sides.

And the timing is brilliant for Hobart Hurricanes. They welcome back D’Arcy Short and James Faulkner, two key players who have been key to their fortunes over the past couple of seasons. Also, they are coming off a vital win in Melbourne, and if they win this, they will remain right in the running for a playoffs spot.

Sydney Thunder, like the Hurricanes, need a boost. They have won just two of their past seven games, but if they can hit form now, anything is possible for their campaign. A win in Hobart will go a long way towards playoffs qualification with a game remaining after this.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • D’Arcy Short’s inclusion is a huge plus for the Hurricanes. He scored a century in his last BBL innings, and scored 58 (39) in the corresponding game vs Thunder last season.
  • Matthew Wade hit the most runs by a single player in the powerplay in BBL history last game (62). Also, he scored 85 (49) on this ground vs Thunder last season. A key player.
  • Ben McDermott averages 45.75 in six innings vs Thunder.
  • Alex Hales is enjoying a solid run of form: 20*, 26, 55, 31, 0, 85. His 55 came against the Hurricanes in a Player of the Match performance.
  • Usman Khawaja, on the other hand, is not in the best form (103 runs in his last seven innings).
  • Callum Ferguson is also out of form after a very strong start to the season. He has made four single-digit scores in his last five completed innings.
  • Mac Wright, Player of the Match last game (70 off 50 balls), will be out for another big showing. With Short back in, Hurricanes could look to play him at three.
  • Daniel Sams, as an all-round option, has been poor with the bat in BBL09. But, his bowling has been excellent, still sitting top of the pile with 20 wickets.
  • Chris Morris is sitting equal sixth with 14 wickets. It is a fine effort considering he came in a few games into Thunder’s BBL09 campaign.
  • James Faulkner is a crucial addition for the Hurricanes. He was seventh-highest wicket-taker last season with 18.
  • Scott Boland in BBL09: 10 wickets in seven matches, avg. 20.40.

  • Hurricanes have won five from six matches vs Thunder in Hobart.

D’Arcy Short and James Faulkner will slot into the Hurricanes XI, likely for Jake Doran and Tom Rogers.

Hobart Hurricanes: 1. Matthew Wade (c), 2. D’Arcy Short, 3. Mac Wright, 4. David Miller, 5. Ben McDermott (wk), 6. George Bailey, 7. James Faulkner, 8. Clive Rose, 9. Nathan Ellis, 10. Qais Ahmad, 11. Scott Boland

For Thunder, Chris Tremain has come into the 13-man squad for Ben Doggett. It remains to be seen if Arjun Nair bats at four again for Thunder.

Sydney Thunder: 1. Usman Khawaja, 2. Alex Hales, 3. Callum Ferguson (c), 4. Alex Ross, 5. Jay Lenton (wk), 6. Daniel Sams, 7. Chris Morris, 8. Arjun Nair, 9. Gurinder Sandhu, 10. Chris Tremain, 11. Liam Bowe

NZ vs IND 1st T20I Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | NZ vs IND 1st T20 Dream11 Prediction | New Zealand vs India 1st T20I Preview Dream11 Prediction | New Zealand vs India 1st T20 Key Players | NZ vs IND 1st T20I Dream11 Prediction Today

India’s much-awaited tour of New Zealand is set to get underway, after winning their home season comprehensively.

The first assignment of their six-week long tour is a T20I at Eden Park, typically a challenging ground for the bowlers. It kicks off what promises to be a very exciting series, as this is a good chance for both teams to get their combinations right before the World T20 later this year.

However, can they overcome a very short and challenging turnaround after their ODI series vs Australia only ended on Sunday?

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • Colin Munro (248 runs), loves playing against India, he’s the highest
run-scorer between these two sides and he needs just 14 runs to
    become the highest run-scorer.
  • Rohit Sharma (198 runs) and Virat Kohli (197 runs) are the 2nd & 3rd highest run-scorer respectively for India against New Zealand in T20Is. MS Dhoni (223 runs) is the highest run-scorer for India.
  • Kohli averages 49.25, 2nd highest between these two sides, and highest for India.
  • Tim Seifert (139 runs), can be your differential pick in this match. He averages 46.33 and has a strike-rate of 173.75 against India.
  • Ross Taylor will be very important for New Zealand in the middle. He has 183 runs against India in T20Is.
  • Kiwi Bowlers have dominated their Indian counterparts, with the top five wicket-takers in India vs New Zealand T20Is being Kiwis.
  • Ish Sodhi holds the top spot with 11 wickets, followed by Mitchell Santner (9) & Tim Southee (7).
  • Jasprit Bumrah & Yuzvendra Chahal are the highest wicket-takers for India with 4 wickets each.
  • Krunal Pandya bagged a 3-for when played in Auckland. Now that he’s out, Ravindra Jadeja can be a crucial player for India.
  • Rishabh Pant scored a 28 ball 40 last time India played in Auckland.

Head-to-Head

  • The Kiwis have dominated India in T20Is.
  • Matches 12, New Zealand 8, India 3, 1 match abandoned.
  • India’s performance has been more miserable in New Zealand as they have won only one out of five games played.

Key to a New Zealand win

Colin Munro has enjoyed life against India. Despite his inconsistency in a New Zealand shirt, Munro remains a dangerous player for New Zealand. After all, if he can fire early, it allows the likes of Martin Guptill, Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor to continue building on the platform set.

Also, can New Zealand make inroads into India’s top three? All three of KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been in fine form of late, and while India possess talent in their middle order, NZ will benefit from early breakthroughs that can reduce the run rate.

Key to an India win

India’s powerplay and death bowling will be under the microscope in this match. The return of Jasprit Bumrah in recent weeks has helped, particularly with Bumrah bowling economically in the second and third ODIs against Australia. If the pacers can hold their own, it gives the spinners a little more to play with on a small ground.

Also, if India’s top order fires, watch out. There is often no ground big enough for Rohit’s sixes, and if he gets going, India will be destined for a big total. With the in-form KL Rahul and Virat Kohli for company, it is time the batting order hits their stride fully ahead of the World T20.

Possible Playing 11

Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out due to injury. Sanju Samson has replaced him in the squad, but it looks unlikely that he’ll get to play in the
first match.

India: 1. KL Rahul (wk), 2. Rohit Sharma, 3. Virat Kohli (c), 4. Shreyas Iyer, 5. Rishabh Pant, 6. Shivam Dube, 7. Ravindra Jadeja, 8. Shardul Thakur/Mohammed Shami, 9. Navdeep Saini, 10. Kuldeep Yadav/ Yuzvendra Chahal, 11. Jasprit Bumrah

The Kiwi team is also without the likes of Trent Boult and Lockie Ferguson. The youngsters have a great chance to cement their place in the side, before the World T20.

New Zealand: 1. Colin Munro, 2. Martin Guptill, 3. Kane Williamson (c), 4. Ross Taylor, 5. Tim Seifert (WK), 6. Colin de Grandhomme, 7. Daryl Mitchell, 8. Mitchell Santer, 9. Scott Kuggeleijn, 10. Tim Southee, 11. Hamish Bennett/ Blair Tickner

Eden Park Pitch Report & Conditions

The Eden Park pitch is expected to be a batting paradise, to go with the very short boundaries. A run-feast can be expected between two capable batting lineups, as shown when Australia chased down 240+ vs New Zealand on this ground two years ago.

The weather in Auckland is forecast to be fine and a very comfortable early 20s by the time the first ball is bowled at 7:50pm local time.

India are arguably favourites coming into this match, but they have a poor record against the Kiwis, especially in New Zealand. A thrilling contest in on the cards, with India, on the back off good white-ball form, a good chance of edging this one out in a close match.

It could ultimately depend on how quickly India can hit their stride after just a few days in New Zealand before this match.

BBL09 Match 49: BH vs SS Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | BH vs SS Dream11 Today | Brisbane Heat vs Sydney Sixers Preview Dream11 Prediction | Brisbane Heat vs Sydney Sixers Key Players | BH vs SS Dream11 Prediction Today

Brisbane Heat are record holders.

But for the wrong reasons.

Four nights after a horrible collapse; the worst in BBL history, the Heat are back in action in front of their home fans. Such a pathetic batting display by a team full of ability warrants a response against a Sydney Sixers that ended the Stars’ winning run on Monday night.

This is a crucial game for Heat. Could you imagine the Heat missing the top five in an eight-team league with such batting power? In this vital clash, both sides welcome national talent. Marnus Labuschagne has arrived for the Heat; Steve Smith for the Sixers. Who will hold their nerve?

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • Marnus Labuschagne could be the big inclusion the Heat need. They have played without brains in recent games, and Labuschagne is the kind of player the others can bat around.
  • Steve Smith can have a strong impact for Sixers after a superb start to the Aussie summer a few months back: 53*, 13 and 80* vs SL and PAK.
  • Chris Lynn, who described the Heat’s last performance as “piss poor”, went ballistic against Sixers earlier this season, scoring 94 (35).
  • Lynn still inspires more confidence when batting first (94, 88, 31, 26) compared to batting second, despite his 15-ball 41 last game.
  • It is a big game for AB de Villiers. He is coming off two consecutive scores of two. Expect the South African superstar to come out firing.
  • Can Moises Henriques spoil the Heat’s evening? He is coming off a brilliant 72 (31) vs Stars, and has the second-most runs in Sixers-Heat matches (208) behind Lynn (238).
  • Also, Henriques was Player of the Match in the Sixers’ last visit to the Gabba, in 2017.
  • Daniel Hughes has made eight double-figure scores in his past nine knocks, without reaching fifty. Can he go on with the job in this one?
  • James Vince is in a similar boat, with eight double-figure scores in his last 10 knocks. He is coming off 41* (22) vs Stars.
  • The battle of the all-rounders will be fascinating. Tom Curran is equal second in the wicket-takers chart for BBL09 (17 wickets). Ben Cutting has 10 wickets in nine matches vs Sixers.
  • Nathan Lyon loves the Gabba. He took four wickets on his last BBL visit, and has constant success there for Australia.
  • Josh Lalor has nine wickets in five games vs Sixers. Ben Laughin has taken a wicket in all but one game he’s played in BBL09.
  • James Pattinson took 5/33 vs Adelaide Strikers at the Gabba last week.
  • Mujeeb ur Rahman is still wicketless in BBL09 (three games).

Marnus Labuschagne is in the Heat 13-man squad and should slot in for Joe Burns.

Brisbane Heat: 1. Sam Heazlett, 2. Chris Lynn (c), 3. AB de Villiers, 4. Marnus Labuschagne, 5. Matt Renshaw, 6. Ben Cutting, 7. Jimmy Peirson (wk), 8. Josh Lalor, 9. James Pattinson, 10. Ben Laughlin, 11. Mujeeb ur Rahman

Steve Smith is in the Sixers’ 13-man squad, and will be raring to go after his 98 and 131 vs India in the ODI series. He could slot in at three, with rumours that he could even open the innings.

Sydney Sixers: 1. Josh Philippe (wk), 2. Daniel Hughes, 3. Steve Smith, 4. James Vince, 5. Moises Henriques (c), 6. Jordan Silk, 7. Tom Curran, 8. Ben Dwarshuis, 9. Steve O’Keefe, 10. Jackson Bird, 11. Nathan Lyon

Gabba Pitch Report and Conditions

There have been a number of low scores at the Gabba in recent games. Hobart Hurricanes crawled to 126/9, Adelaide Strikers were bowled out for 110, followed by Brisbane Heat’s almighty collapse on Sunday.

There has been some turn for the spinners, but it has been more poor batting rather than any demons in the pitch, despite it being a tad slower than usual.

In terms of the weather, there is a slight chance of some showers during the day. There should be a full game, though.

Match Prediction

There has to be a response from Brisbane Heat. Their season depends on it.

The introduction of Marnus Labuschagne in the middle order might settle them well. Sixers provide a significant threat on their day, but have a feeling the Heat will be up for this and win it.

As the regular season nears its end, the Australian ODI players return as seven of the eight teams remain in contention for the BBL09 Title.

Two of those teams, Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Stars, welcome back talent from India. Alex Carey, such an important player in Australia’s ODI plans, returns to a team that struck close to 200 in their last game. Adam Zampa and Peter Handscomb return for the Stars, with the former engaged in battles with some of the finest white-ball players this generation has seen.

Up until Sydney Sixers beat Melbourne Stars two nights ago, Adelaide Strikers were the only team to have beaten the Stars in BBL09. Can they do so again?

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • Alex Carey has 134 runs in three knocks vs Stars, averaging 67.
  • Adam Zampa also returns for this clash, coming off an impressive series against India where he had a great battle with Virat Kohli.
  • However, Zampa will be out to improve his record vs Strikers with the ball (4 games, 1 wicket, avg. 99.00).
  • Travis Head scored 79 (40) last game vs Hurricanes, and is a key player for the Strikers if they are to go far in BBL09.
  • Jono Wells has had a campaign to remember. He scored 68* (46) vs Stars earlier in BBL09, part of 351 runs at an average of 70.20 in the tournament.
  • Marcus Stoinis is 136 runs in front of the next highest run-scorer in BBL09: Shaun Marsh. He is coming off 62 (37) vs Sixers.
  • Also, Stoinis has 176 runs in five knocks vs Strikers.
  • Glenn Maxwell has a similar record to Stoinis vs Strikers, but strikes at 168.89 in six knocks (169 runs). Also, Maxwell scored 62 (28) in his last game at Adelaide Oval.
  • Hilton Cartwright’s last five knocks in BBL09: 35, 59, 19, 58*, 21.
  • Jake Weatherald averages just 13.60 in five innings vs Stars. However, his last five scores in Adelaide read: 83, 52, 47, 27, 33*.
  • Rashid Khan’s battle with the Stars’ batsmen could be crucial to the outcome. He has an economy rate of just 6.00 in four games vs Stars, along with four wickets.
  • Rashid’s battle with Sandeep Lamichhane could also prove crucial. Lamichhane has eight wickets in his past five games, with at least one wicket taken in each of those matches.
  • Wes Agar took four wickets in his last game, vs Hurricanes. Peter Siddle took 3/24 vs Stars earlier this season.

BBL09 Match 48: AS vs MS Dream11: Another big game for Stoinis?

Head-to-Head

  • Matches 10, Strikers 5, Stars 5.
  • Adelaide Strikers beat Melbourne Stars by five runs in Cararra earlier this season. Peter Siddle was terrific at the death.

Possible Playing 11

Alex Carey returns to the Strikers team, and will slot in at either three or four.

Adelaide Strikers: 1. Phil Salt, 2. Jake Weatherald, 3. Travis Head (c), 4. Alex Carey (wk), 5. Jono Wells, 6. Matthew Short, 7. Michael Neser, 8. Rashid Khan, 9. Peter Siddle, 10. Wes Agar, 11. Liam O’Connor

Melbourne Stars welcome back Peter Handscomb (who should replace Gotch) and Adam Zampa.

Melbourne Stars: 1. Hilton Cartwright, 2. Marcus Stoinis, 3. Nic Maddinson, 4. Nick Larkin, 5. Glenn Maxwell (c), 6. Peter Handscomb (wk), 7. Clint Hinchliffe, 8. Daniel Worrall, 9. Adam Zampa, 10. Lance Morris, 11. Sandeep Lamichhane

Adelaide Oval Pitch Report and Conditions

Adelaide Oval has played host to some low-scoring games in recent times. Against the Sixers, Strikers crawled to 135, which they very nearly defended. Two games later, they bowled the Heat out for 100.

In both these games, it was the spinners who had a big say. Rashid Khan took a hat-trick vs Sixers and Liam O’Connor was Player of the Match vs Heat.

The forecast for Adelaide is a maximum of 26 degrees and no rain.

Toss of the coin; an extremely difficult game to pick.

Adelaide Strikers have been in good form of late, and can certainly challenge the Stars. However, with the likes of Adam Zampa back, the Stars might just come away with a win.

This has the makings for a fine T20 match.

Why India should expect more from Hardik Pandya: The All-Rounder

Why India should expect more from Hardik Pandya: The All-Rounder | Hardik Pandya to begin training ahead of big 2020 | A look at the story of Hardik Pandya

Fame, success, controversies, and injuries.

Just four years into his international career, this 26 year old from Baroda has seen it all happening in a short span of time. Hardik Pandya is one of those talents, similar to Jasprit Bumrah, who started to gain attention with impressive performances in the Indian Premier League.

Since India decided to move past Irfan Pathan, they were in desperate search of a fast bowling all-rounder. Hardik was showing glimpses of his raw talent with clean hitting, along with sending in balls at 140km/h. So, inevitably, he began to catch the eyes of the national selectors.

Before that, despite the significant talent pool in India, they struggled to find a fast bowling all-rounder of the Hardik-type. Stuart Binny had his chances, but apart from his 6/4 against a broken Bangladesh side in 2014, he never really impressed. So, ahead of the T20 World Cup in 2016, Hardik Pandya got his chance in Australia where he showed glimpses of his talent with his bowling, and slowly started to earn the trust of then captain MS Dhoni.

Hardik Pandya showed glimpses of his talent in his debut series against Australia.

Leap of Faith in 2016

What was to come was a major leap of faith by his skipper. In one of the most incredible matches of the last decade, India had 11 runs to defend in the last over in that match against Bangladesh. MS Dhoni gave the ball to young Hardik Pandya looking to make a mark. It was a massive call as India was facing elimination in the group stages in front of their home fans if they lost.

Hardik was all over the place conceding nine off the first three balls. Mushfiqur celebrated. India looked gone. Hardik had an uphill task of defending two off the last three balls with two set batsman batting.

But, Hardik Pandya went on to hold his nerve, and India defeated Bangladesh to enter the Quarter Finals. That day, the world took notice of Hardik Pandya: The all-rounder.

Hardik held his nerve in the crucial game vs Bangladesh.

Further Strong Moments

Hardik Pandya was then seen as a superstar. He has been a regular with the blue since then, going on to play some important knocks, particularly in the role of finisher. As MS Dhoni started to getting accustomed to much more of an anchor role, Hardik became more and more important to the side.

Hardik’s batting has been the most improved feature of his game since his debut. The balance and solid base he maintains when he hits those monstrous sixes is highly impressive. The first glimpses of this came in the Champions Trophy of 2017 where Kohli used him brilliantly, sometimes sending him ahead of MS Dhoni, who is considered one of the World’s greatest finishers.

This injection of belief showed how highly the Team Management thought of him. His biggest contribution that tournament came in the Final when he came in to bat when India lost half their side for 54 chasing a mammoth 338 set by Pakistan. Hardik decided to fight fire with fire and started to counter attack in a very difficult situation, going on to score 76 of just 43 balls with six sixes.

He treated the Oval crowd to some very clean hitting. In the end, Hardik was run-out, and his partner Ravindra Jadeja faced a lot of criticism for not sacrificing his wicket for the in-form Pandya. Hardik might not have won the game for India that day, but he sure did miss out on a very special hundred.

Hardik’s Foray into Test Cricket

Hardik later went onto make his Test debut against Sri Lanka, and had a fabulous start to his Test career. He soon made a mark against South Africa in Cape Town, scoring a quickfire 95 against a bowling attack that had the likes of Dale Steyn, Vernon Philander and Morne Morkel. Then, Hardik went onto get a five-for at Nottingham India’s single win during their tour of England in 2018.

In the eyes of millions, the quality of this special cricketer just kept growing, and slowly started to earn comparisons to the legendary Kapil Dev.

Hardik Pandya celebrates his five wicket haul.

However, Hardik’s career has not been the same since then. It was in the Asia Cup late in 2018 where he suffered a scary back injury which forced him out of a very important Australian tour.

Also, to add to salt to the wound, it was during this time Hardik gave an interview in a popular Indian chat show ‘Koffee with Karan’ and faced criticism for vulgar comments. All of a sudden, Hardik Pandya didn’t find life so easy and was awaiting the decision to be taken by BCCI officials regarding the suspension. He was suspended, along with KL Rahul, and needed to strive extra hard to come back into the Indian side. He regards it as the darkest phase of his short career.

Soon after his suspension ended, he was back where he belongs. Hardik Pandya went on to have a fabulous IPL 2019 season, instrumental in Mumbai’s record-breaking fourth IPL victory.

However, he made his intentions clear that lifting the World Cup is his primary objective. Unfortunately, though, he didn’t have the greatest of World Cups, failing when his team needed him most in the Semi Final against New Zealand. It was very poor shot selection that cost him; something you wouldn’t associate with an experienced international cricketer.

It was disappointing to see Hardik not live up to the expectations considering the amount of talent the man carries.

“From lifting 100 kgs I was not able to lift my legs” – Hardik in a recent interview about his back surgery

Hardik Pandya has recently undergone back surgery, something he feels was one of the toughest challenges of his life. He had people telling him it would be hard to get back playing, which had him more worried as he struggled to walk in the initial days post surgery. He is on his road to recovery and is almost ready to make his comeback in the latter stages of the New Zealand tour.

Also, he was recently engaged in Dubai, and India fans can hope this can bring lady luck into his life.

The next few months might be a very important phase of Hardik’s career. India bank heavily on him for the balance he provides to this outfit. He would be looking to make a statement and make noteworthy performances to do justice to his immense talent.

Indeed, it’s not every day that India are blessed with talented fast bowling all-rounders. Hardik, in a huge 2020, could be a key man for India in the World T20, which could transform Hardik from a talent to an established international cricketer.

This 26 year old has the ingredients to have a long career ahead of him. All of India will be hoping Hardik’s mind and body remain in good stead, as he can hold a key to India’s fortunes across formats.

BBL09 Match 47: MR vs HH Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | MR vs HH Dream11 Today | Melbourne Renegades vs Hobart Hurricanes Preview Dream11 Prediction | Melbourne Renegades vs Hobart Hurricanes Key Players | MR vs HH Dream11

Top of the table clash yesterday. Bottom of the table clash today. Two sides who have had disappointing campaigns go head-to-head in Melbourne.

Melbourne Renegades have won two straight, including one of the most talked about games in recent times. However, it is too little, too late as their nine straight defeats is impossible to come back from, even with a fifth team rewarded with a playoffs spot.

However, they do have a good chance to make it three straight wins. Hobart Hurricanes’ season has been in free-fall, losing their last four completed matches despite the great effort of David Miller last game.

Incredibly, however, the Hurricanes are still in contention for a playoffs spot. They sit four points outside the top five with a game in hand, so a win gives them a chance with two games remaining after this one.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • Ben McDermott’s most significant scores in the past few weeks have been 20s and 30s. However, he enjoys playing Renegades, with 288 runs at 96.00 against them.
  • This includes a century in what remains the highest chase in BBL history, achieved at Docklands in 2017, which is where the game is played today. He also scored an unbeaten fifty vs Renegades this season.
  • Matthew Wade has been dismissed inside the first two overs in his last two innings. If he can get past the powerplay today, the Hurricanes will benefit significantly.
  • Shaun Marsh hit 196 runs in five innings vs Hurricanes when he was a Scorchers player. Earlier this season, he hit 37 against them, of which he would be keen to build on today.
  • Sam Harper was out for a duck vs Hurricanes earlier this season. However, he was Man of the Match vs Hurricanes at Docklands last season.
  • Beau Webster has been the biggest positive for the Renegades in a tough season. He has scored below 25 just twice in his past eight knocks.
  • George Bailey scored 70* (53) on this ground last season.
  • It took a while, but David Miller made the impact expected of him. He is coming off 90* (48) vs Strikers on Sunday.
  • Daniel Christian has had a good last two games: 21* (12), 3/14 and 2/9.
  • Samit Patel has taken at least one wicket in each of his past four games. Mohammad Nabi, on the other hand, has conceded 50 runs in his last two overs.
  • Cameron Boyce: A must-have in Fantasy teams? He is coming off 4/15. More, he is on a good run at Docklands: 2/33, 2/30, 2/18, 2/31, 1/37.
  • Scott Boland in BBL09: 2/29, 3/16, 1/33, 1/45, 1/11, 2/26.
  • Nathan Ellis took three wickets vs Renegades earlier in BBL09.

Head-to-Head

  • Matches 10, Renegades 6, Hurricanes 4.
  • Hobart Hurricanes beat Melbourne Renegades on Christmas Eve by seven wickets. James Faulkner, Riley Meredith and Nathan Ellis all took three wickets.
  • Now, Faulkner and Meredith remain unavailable through injury.

Possible Playing 11

Hobart Hurricanes have named an unchanged 13-man squad from their narrow loss to Adelaide Strikers on Sunday.

Hobart Hurricanes: 1. Matthew Wade (c), 2. Caleb Jewell, 3. Jake Doran, 4. David Miller, 5. Ben McDermott (wk), 6. George Bailey, 7. Tom Rogers, 8. Clive Rose, 9. Nathan Ellis, 10. Qais Ahmad, 11. Scott Boland

For Melbourne Renegades, Nathan McSweeney comes into the 13-man squad for Joe Mennie. However, their XI from the last game should remain the same.

Melbourne Renegades: 1. Shaun Marsh, 2. Marcus Harris, 3. Sam Harper (wk), 4. Beau Webster, 5. Daniel Christian (c), 6. Samit Patel, 7. Mohammad Nabi, 8. Will Sutherland, 9. Jack Wildermuth, 10. Cameron Boyce, 11. Andrew Fekete

Marvel Stadium Pitch Report and Conditions

The average first innings score in three games at Marvel Stadium in BBL09 is 158.7. The team batting second has won the last two games on the ground, which suggests that a score upward of 165 is needed.

In terms of the pitch, Marvel Stadium usually errs on the slower side. However, the pitch for the Melbourne Derby 11 days ago was truer, showcased by the Renegades’ strong start and Glenn Maxwell’s incredible finish.

BBL09 Match 46: PS vs ST Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | PS vs ST Dream11 Prediction Today | Perth Scorchers vs Sydney Thunder Preview Dream11 Prediction | Perth Scorchers vs Sydney Thunder Key Players | PS vs ST Dream11

These two sides will play each other twice in the next week, as the race for the top five heats up.

Perth Scorchers sit fifth. Brisbane Heat’s all-time worst BBL collapse yesterday meant they kept their spot in the top five despite two straight defeats. However, the big question is how well they can recover from their travel, having been on eight different flights in the past nine days.

Sydney Thunder sit fourth. Interruptions finally worked in their favour for once this season, winning their last game on the D/L Method against Sixers. Their bowlers were excellent, and will need another big effort here at Optus Stadium, where there have been some big scores in BBL09.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • Callum Ferguson is the current leading run-scorer in Thunder-Scorchers matches. He has scored 180 runs against them, including a superb century on this ground last season.
  • Also, Ferguson was man-of-the-match in both meetings vs Scorchers last season.
  • Usman Khawaja vs Scorchers: 149 runs, avg. 49.67, SR: 143.27.
  • Mitchell Marsh has 173 runs in four innings vs Thunder, dismissed just once. Also, Marsh has had a good time of it at Optus Stadium this season: 56* (22), 48 (36), 93* (41), 7.
  • Cameron Bancroft vs Thunder: 174 runs, avg. 58.00, SR: 122.54.
  • Josh Inglis is yet to play Thunder in BBL cricket. However, he has had a fine season, sitting ninth with 324 runs in BBL09. His last two scores in Perth: 28 (14) and 39 (17).
  • Daniel Sams went wicketless in both games vs Scorchers last season. However, he is having a great BBL09 campaign, leading the way with 20 wickets. Out of 10 games this season, he has gone wicketless only once.
  • Chris Morris, man-of-the-match last game vs Sixers, is also in the wickets in BBL09. He has taken five wickets in his past three games, part of 13 wickets in nine games.
  • Jhye Richardson is bowling beautifully for the Scorchers. He has shot up to fifth in the BBL09 wicket-takers chart with 14, thanks to 10 wickets in his last five games.
  • Fawad Ahmed is up against his former team (Thunder) for the first time. He has taken at least one wicket in every game in Perth in BBL09.
  • Can Matt Kelly build on his superb 3/27 against Stars on Saturday?

Head-to-Head

  • Matches 9, Scorchers 5, Thunder 4.
  • Sydney Thunder have won the past three meetings between the teams.

Possible Playing 11

Perth Scorchers have made one change to their 13-man squad. Liam Guthrie comes in for Jaron Morgan. In terms of their XI, though, it will likely be the same as their game vs Stars.

Perth Scorchers: 1. Josh Inglis (wk), 2. Liam Livingstone, 3. Cameron Bancroft, 4. Mitchell Marsh (c), 5. Kurtis Patterson, 6. Cameron Green, 7. Tim David, 8. Chris Jordan, 9. Jhye Richardson, 10. Matt Kelly, 11. Fawad Ahmed

Sydney Thunder have made no changes to the 13-man squad that beat Sydney Sixers.

Sydney Thunder: 1. Usman Khawaja, 2. Alex Hales, 3. Callum Ferguson (c), 4. Daniel Sams, 5. Alex Ross, 6. Jay Lenton (wk), 7. Chris Morris, 8. Nathan McAndrew, 9. Gurinder Sandhu, 10. Brendan Doggett, 11. Liam Bowe

Optus Stadium Pitch Report and Conditions

Perth Scorchers were bowled out for 86 in their last game at Optus Stadium. However, that was more due to poor batting, rather than any demons in the pitch.

The Optus Stadium surface has been great for batting in BBL09. It has played host to high-scoring games: 196 vs 185, 174 vs 126, 180 vs 172 and 213 v 179.

The weather forecast is a maximum of 31 degrees during the day and no rain.

Out of five games in Perth, the only time a team has not won when batting first is when the Scorchers were bowled out for 86.

Thunder chased 180+ in Perth last season, but one gets the feeling that if a team sets the same type of score here, they will come away with the points.
