RR vs PBKS Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report – IPL 2025 59th Match

The 59th match of IPL 2025 is a day-time encounter, with Punjab Kings (PBKS) looking to seal their first playoffs’ appearance since 2014. PBKS have been strong for the most part this season, with the makeup of the squad working a treat in terms of depth with bat and ball.

Even with a few expected Australian absentees (see more below), PBKS will still field an XI that offers Shreyas Iyer and the team management plenty of options. The openers have been absolutely outstanding, while Iyer himself has found some rythym in recent games.

PBKS meet already eliminated Rajasthan Royals (RR), who are seeking a strong finish to the season. Unfortunately, they will be without the injured Jofra Archer, so their bowling stocks will be tested against Punjab’s in-form batting lineup. So, one feels they will need plenty of runs to compete today.

In this article, we will look at the possible playing XIIs, Jaipur pitch report, fantasy cricket tips, and Dream11 prediction for the 59th match of IPL 2025.

IPL 2025 59th Match: RR vs PBKS Possible Playing XIIs

It is uncertain whether Josh Inglis, Marcus Stoinis and Aaron Hardie will return to IPL 2025, according to ESPNcricinfo.

Sawai Mansingh Stadium Jaipur Pitch Report and Weather

The Jaipur surface has shown signs of being two-paced, especially in the day game between RR and RCB earlier this season. RR worked hard to get to 173/4 that day, and RCB chased it easily with nine wickets and 15 balls to spare.

The average first innings score in four matches on this ground this season is 194.75, with consecutive totals of 200+. But, they were in night games, so it will be interesting to see how the team fares batting first here.

A very hot day is forecast with sun and a top of 40 degrees. There is no chance of rain.

Fantasy Cricket Tips for RR vs PBKS: Top Picks/Key Players to Watch

Top wicket-keeper picks:

  • Prabhsimran Singh is in outstanding form. The PBKS opener has struck 83, 54 and 91 in his past three completed matches. He also struck 50* in the abandoned game against DC.

Key batter picks:

  • Yashasvi Jaiswal has been a shining light for RR this season. The left-hander has scored five half-centuries plus a 49 and 34 in his past ten innings.
  • Priyansh Arya has been magnificent in IPL 2025. Out of his 347 total runs, 294 have come in the powerplay at a strike rate of 188.5. He was also outstanding in the abandoned game against DC (70).
  • Shreyas Iyer is PBKS’ second-highest run-scorer this season with 405 at an average of 50.62 and strike rate of 180.80. After a bit of a blip, the PBKS captain has scored 25*, 72 and 45 in his past three matches.

Top all-rounder picks:

  • Riyan Parag is selected in over 96% of Dream11 teams. He is a must-pick. After so many starts, the RR captain found his groove with a magnificent 95 in his last match against KKR. He also fields in the hotspot positions and could bowl some overs.
  • Marco Jansen can offer value with the bat, especially if PBKS bats first. The left-armer also has three wickets in his past two games and comes up against an inconsistent RR team today.

Key bowler picks:

  • Arshdeep Singh is a must-pick given his recent form. The left-armer is PBKS’ leading wicket-taker this season (16), with eight coming in the powerplay and six in the death overs. Arshdeep also has good head-to-head numbers against Jaiswal (see below).
  • Yuzvendra Chahal has enjoyed success on this ground. In 16 matches in Jaipur, the legspinner has picked up 22 wickets at an average of 19.91 and strike rate of 15.45.

Other Players to Consider for your Fantasy Cricket Teams

  • Vaibhav Suryavanshi struck one of the most memorable ever hundreds on this ground earlier this season.
  • Nehal Wadhera has been impressive in IPL 2025. The left-hander hit a 41-ball 62 against RR earlier in IPL 2025.
  • Wanindu Hasaranga can benefit from a pitch that has shown some signs of being two-paced, although he has gone wicketless in two of his three matches at Jaipur.
  • Mitchell Owen can be a good differential pick if selected for PBKS, even though he has a quiet PSL campaign. He performs best up the order, as he showed in BBL 2024/25.

Other Stats and Important Matchups

  • Head-to-head: Matches 29, RR 17, PBKS 12.
  • RR (205/4) smashed PBKS (155/9) by 50 runs earlier this season. Jaiswal (67) and Parag (43) were the top two run-scorers for RR.
  • Arshdeep Singh vs Yashasvi Jaiswal: 29 balls, 36 runs, two dismissals.
  • Arshdeep Singh vs Shimron Hetmyer: 30 balls, 53 runs, one dismissal.
  • Yuzvendra Chahal vs Shimron Hetmyer in all T20s: 34 balls, 32 runs, three dismissals.

Overseas players should not be pressured or punished for not returning to the IPL and PSL – Mitchell Johnson

Mitchell Johnson believes no overseas player should be “coerced or feel pressued” into returning to the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Pakistan Super League (PSL).

In his column for West Australian, the former left-arm fast bowler wrote that overseas players should prioritise their safety and other international commitments such as the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) Final. Also, Johnson wrote that it wouldn’t be fair if overseas players are punished in the future for an understandable decision they make now.

“Opting not to play could lead to disappointment or even professional and financial repercussions down the track, but prioritising safety is first and foremost,” Johnson wrote.

“Hearing accounts of the challenges faced in those regions only underscores the need for caution. It’s reported that players are weighing up the potential risks and the broader implications of their decisions.

“Ultimately, the choice should be about what feels safest and most right for each individual, rather than just a commitment to a franchise or winning a tournament.”

Safety of everyone must be the priority when conducting IPL and PSL – Mitchell Johnson

Johnson said he would not return to the IPL if he was currently playing. “It’s a no from me. Lives and safety are the most important thing, not pay cheques,” Johnson wrote.

“It’s a personal decision. No one should be coerced or feel pressured into going back, even if the IPL and Pakistan Super League, which has also been halted, push hard for it. Both tournaments should just end now or consider moving, which then becomes a huge financial issue.”

The Punjab Kings-Delhi Capitals match on May 8 was abandoned midway through the first innings at Dharamshala due to a blackout following air-raid warnings in nearby Jammu and Pathankot. The decision was taken to suspend the IPL the following day.

Following a ceasefire, the league will resume on May 17 with Royal Challengers Bengaluru taking on Kolkata Knight Riders. However, overseas players flew out of India soon after the league was suspended, and franchises have been scrambling to get players back on deck.

It has proven particularly tricky for Australian and South African players set to feature in the upcoming WTC Final. The IPL Final will now be played on June 3, just eight days before the big Test. South Africa have been more strict than Australia regarding their players missing the IPL playoffs, to Johnson’s surprise.

“Let’s not forget that some Australian and South African players will need to prepare for the upcoming World Test Championship final,” Johnson wrote.

“With the IPL final now pushed back to June 3, just a week before the WTC final starts at Lord’s, the impact on players’ preparation for what is supposedly as Test cricket’s showpiece match is another issue.

“South Africa appear to be taking a much harder line with their players than Australia, which is interesting given the financial ties between India and South Africa through the SA20 competition.

“Proteas coach Shukri Conrad says their players must still be home by May 26 regardless of the IPL being pushed back, while CA will “support players in their individual decisions” and “work through preparation implications” for the WTC final.”

What is the prize money for winning the 2025 WTC Final?

The winner of the 2025 World Test Championship (WTC) Final between Australia and South Africa at Lord’s will receive US$3.6 million in prize money. This is more than double what it was in the WTC 2021 and 2023 editions.

The runners up will also receive a nice payday, with US$2.16 million headed their way. This is an increase from US$800,000 in the previous two editions.

ICC confirms prize money for WTC Final: “Exhibits our efforts to prioritize Test cricket”

In a statement, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said the increase in prize money is part of their effort to make Test cricket a more attractive proposition. Also, the ICC wishes to continue building on the momentum of what is now three WTC cycles.

“The increase in prize money exhibits the ICC’s efforts to prioritize Test cricket as it looks to build on the momentum of the first three cycles of the nine-team competition,” read the ICC release.

The 2025 WTC Final promises to be a fascinating clash at Lord’s starting June 11. Australia are aiming for the second-straight title after beating India in 2023, while South Africa are seeking an elusive ICC title after 27 years. Their last ICC trophy was the 1998 Champions Trophy.

“I am sure spectators at Lord’s, along with fans tuning in from all over the world, will be treated to some top-class cricket in this revered format when Australia and South Africa take the field less than a month from now,” said ICC chair Jay Shah.

“On behalf of the ICC, I extend best wishes to the players of both teams in their preparations for the prestigious match.”

Other teams who didn’t reach WTC Final also receive prize money

Other teams also received prize money. India and New Zealand, who finished third and fourth respectively, will both receive in excess of US$1,000,000.

RCB vs KKR Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report – IPL 2025 58th Match

After an enforced suspension, IPL 2025 resumes with a blockbuster between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 58th match. This encounter has implications for the playoffs, with RCB in a strong position to seal a top two spot while KKR must win after suffering a surprise defeat to Chennai Super Kings in the last completed match of IPL 2025 on May 7th.

KKR have struggled for consistency this season, with good cricket mixed with the bad. They started well with bat and ball against CSK, but couldn’t get over the line. They must deliver at the Chinnaswamy Stadium as they sit three points outside the top four with just two games remaining.

In contrast, RCB have been a consistent force. They have won all their away matches, and are on a two-match winning streak at home. Virat Kohli has dominated the headlines this week, and he will be looking to build on his excellent recent form to set the tone for RCB.

In this article, we will look at the possible playing XIIs, M Chinnaswamy Stadium Bengaluru pitch report, fantasy cricket tips and Dream11 prediction for the 58th match of IPL 2025 between RCB and KKR.

IPL 2025 58th Match: RCB vs KKR Possible Playing XIIs

Liam Livingstone, Romario Shepherd, Tim David, Jacob Bethell, Lungi Ngidi and Phil Salt have rejoined the RCB squad. Bethell was excellent against CSK, but he is likely to be replaced if Salt is fit.

According to Hindustan Times, Josh Hazlewood is expected to feature in the final week of May and into the playoffs.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru: 1. Phil Salt, 2. Virat Kohli, 3. Mayank Agarwal, 4. Rajat Patidar (c), 5. Jitesh Sharma (wk), 6. Tim David, 7. Romario Shepherd, 8. Krunal Pandya, 9. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 10. Lungi Ngidi, 11. Yash Dayal, 12. Suyash Sharma

Quinton de Kock, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Spencer Johnson are available for selection. Moeen Ali has opted out, while Rovman Powell is unlikely to return to IPL 2025.

Kolkata Knight Riders: 1. Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wk), 2. Sunil Narine, 3. Ajinkya Rahane (c), 4. Angkrish Raghuvanshi, 5. Manish Pandey, 6. Andre Russell, 7. Rinku Singh, 8. Ramandeep Singh, 9. Spencer Johnson, 10. Vaibhav Arora, 11. Varun Chakravarthy, 12. Harshit Rana

M Chinnaswamy Stadium Bengaluru Pitch Report and Weather

Bengaluru is on alert with thunderstorms forecast this week. Thunderstorms are also forecast on game day on Friday with up to 10.3mm of rain expected to fall during the day and a further 8.7mm in the evening according to AccuWeather.

In terms of the pitch, the M Chinnaswamy Stadium surface has been pacer-friendly. There has been plenty of bounce, making the new ball bowlers crucial as wickets in hand still lead to big scores. There have been consecutive totals of 200+ batting first in the past two games.

Fantasy Cricket Tips for RCB vs KKR: Top Picks/Key Players to Watch

Top wicket-keeper picks:

  • Phil Salt is the best wicket-keeper pick in this game. He struck a 31-ball 56 against KKR earlier this season and has shown promise at the Chinnaswamy.

Key batter picks:

  • Virat Kohli has struck four consecutive half-centuries and five half-centuries in his past six innings. Virat, with 505 runs, is just five runs behind Orange Cap holder Suryakumar Yadav.
  • Ajinkya Rahane is KKR’s leading run-scorer this season with 375. Pace will play a key role in this game, and he has these numbers against pace this season: 238 runs, two wickets, SR 177.6. How he fares against spin will be key for KKR.
  • Angkrish Raghuvanshi has seven scores of 20+ in his past nine innings.

Top all-rounder picks:

  • Sunil Narine strikes above 180 against RCB. He also has 27 wickets in 21 matches against them. Plus, his record against Virat Kohli is strong: 129 balls, 136 runs, four wickets.
  • Andre Russell can be a great pick if KKR bat first. He has smashed 167 runs on this ground at an unbelievable strike rate of 231.94. If he can negotiate spin well, watch out as Russell has hammered 97 off 37 balls against Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the IPL.
  • Krunal Pandya has been superb in IPL 2025 with 14 wickets. The left-arm spinner won man of the match against KKR with 3/29 earlier this season. He has dominated Ajinkya Rahane in the IPL: 65 balls, 73 runs, five wickets.

Key bowler picks:

  • Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be called on to lead the RCB attack. He has dismissed Sunil Narine twice for 31 runs in 28 balls in the IPL.
  • Varun Chakravarthy has taken 15 wickets in 11 matches against RCB. He has dismissed Rajat Patidar once in 12 balls, conceding just 12 in the process.

Other Players to Consider for your Fantasy Cricket Teams

  • Rahmanullah Gurbaz offers fantasy value as he opens the batting. Getting through the seam test up top will be key on a pitch that may have extra bounce.
  • Rajat Patidar has struggled for rhythm but the break may help him rediscover his mojo. He struck 34 off 16 balls against KKR earlier this season.
  • Vaibhav Arora (16) and Harshit Rana (15) have been among the wickets this season.
  • Romario Shepherd smashed 53* off 14 balls in the last game against CSK. He can be a valuable fantasy pick if RCB bats first. Also, Shepherd can be employed as a pinch hitter in a potentially rain-shortened game.

Other Stats and Important Matchups

  • Head-to-head: Matches 36, RCB 15, KKR 21.
  • KKR lead RCB 9-4 in matches at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
  • Harshit Rana vs Virat Kohli: 24 balls, 33 runs, one wicket.
  • Varun Chakravarthy vs Virat Kohli: 48 balls, 55 runs, one wicket.
  • Sunil Narine vs Rajat Patidar: 14 balls, 26 runs, no dismissals.
  • Andre Russell vs Virat Kohli in the IPL: 66 balls, 88 runs, two wickets.
  • Suyash Sharma dismissed Andre Russell earlier this season. Expect the legspinner to be used here against Dre Russ.

The Ashes: A Legacy of Rivalry, Passion, and Sporting Excellence

If you’re a fan of the Ashes, you’ll already know this is about far more than just cricket. It is a symbol of fierce competition, history, and national pride between England and Australia. Since it first took place back in 1882, it has become one of the biggest, and most important, sporting events in the world. With roots that go back to a colonial past, the series has grown to the stage where it is one of the most eagerly anticipated competitions in the sporting calendar.

The story of The Ashes goes back to the shock Australian Victory over England at the Oval in 1882. The British press was far from supportive at the time and mocked the English team. They went as far as printing an obituary in The Sporting Times, declaring English cricket had died and that ‘the body will be cremated and the Ashes taken to Australia’.

It was this tongue-in-cheek comment that gave birth to a legendary event. It was later that year that England toured Australia and the Australians presented England with a small urn that was said to contain the ashes of a burnt cricket bail. This then became the prize for every future series between the two nations.

Over more than a century, The Ashes has been responsible for producing moments that are nothing short of iconic. It has created sporting heroes, and it continues to define generations of players while remaining a focal point for fans.

Why The Ashes Matters

While there are many cricketing contests around the world, The Ashes comes with a history and emotional intensity that just can’t be matched. That’s because it’s about far more than just the game. It is more about legacy. The rivalry touches on a shared history between the countries. This includes colonial memories and huge national pride. It doesn’t matter if the action takes place on the grassy grounds of Lord’s or underneath the scorching sun at the Gabba, each match comes with huge significance.

For England, the series is a chance to reassert its status as the birthplace of the game. For Australia, it has always been an opportunity to prove that it was able to surpass its colonial ancestor on the field. In effect, this has led to The Ashes becoming what can be described as a proving ground;somewhere where both nations are tested.

The Ashes is also important when it comes to cricket as a whole. It has led to changes in playing style, innovations in tactics, and a host of key moments that have redefined the sport. The likes of bodyline tactics, helmet use, reverse swing, and modern aggressive batting all found their way into the game following encounters in this series.

The Most Unforgettable Ashes Series

While every Ashes series is special, here’s a look at some that really stand out:

The 1932-33 ‘Bodyline’ Series

This has to be the most notorious of all The Ashes series. It is the one where England used a highly controversial ‘Bodyline’ bowling technique to target the upper bodies of Australian batsmen. This was particularly aimed at the legendary Don Bradman. England were being led by Douglas Jardine and they sought to neutralise Bradman’s dominance. The tactic certainly worked, with England winning 4-1, but it certainly had a huge impact on relations. It showed cricket at its most brutal and led to the rules being rewritten.

The Invincibles of 1948

The Australian team of 1948 was still  led by Bradman, although this was his final series. The team went undefeated in England, and this is something that no other team has done since. Bradman needed just four runs in his final innings so that he could end his career with an average of 100, but he was bowled for a duck. Regardless, ‘The Invincibles’ captured the imagination of the post-war generation, including a chase of 404 at Leeds

The 1981 ‘Botham Ashes’

The 1981 series turned more dramatically than any other ever had or has since. After falling behind in the third test, it was fair to say that England’s chances were all but gone. However, then came Ian Botham who produced an outstanding 149 at Headingley. England came back from the brink and ended up winning the series 3-1. This was one of the best comebacks of all time.

2005 and a Modern Classic

The 2005 contest is often referred to as the greatest Ashes series ever. It saw England get its hands back on the urn for the first time since 1986-87. This series had everything that makes cricket great. There were amazing swings, outstanding individual performances, and a truly electric atmosphere. England lost the first Test, won the second by two runs, and drew the third where Australia finished nine down. This series saw Andrew Flintoff, Kevin Pietersen, and Simon Jones become household names as Shane Warne did all he could to help Australia. The end result was 2-1 to England following their tight three-wicket win in the fourth Test at Trent Bridge.

The 2019 Series and the Stokes Miracle

The 2019 series was played in England and ended with a 2-2 draw. Despite the draw, it  produced one of the most remarkable innings ever seen in cricket. It was Ben Stokes that dragged his side from certain defeat to an amazing one-wicket win while chasing 359. His unbeaten 135 was hailed around the world for his mix of aggression, composure, and courage.

Steve Smith was also the hero of the 2019 Ashes. Smith, returning to Test cricket after his one-year ban due to sandpaper gate, produced a series for the ages, scoring 774 runs in four Tests at an average of 110.57.

Looking Ahead to November 2025: Which team is the favourite to win the series?

According to Sportsbet.io, Australia are favourites to take out the 2025/26 Ashes series. The Australians have been utterly dominant in home Ashes Tests over the past 15 years, winning 13 of 15 matches with two draws.

This time, England tour with the aggressive Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum at the helm. Whether “Bazball” will work down under remains to be seen, but we can be sure of a braver approach than what England produced in tours to Australia post 2010/11.

The 2025/26 Ashes series begins in Perth on November 21, before shifting to Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne and then Sydney.

Top 5 innings by Virat Kohli in Test cricket

Virat Kohli announcing his retirement from Test cricket feels surreal. In addition to Virat holding the title as one of the greatest ODI players of all time, millions of passionate fans also watched him go about his business in the whites for over a decade.

One of the advocates of the format, Kohli produced a wonderful Test career spanning 14 years. He finishes with 9,230 runs – the fourth-most ever for India – with 31 hundreds at an eyecatching conversion rate of better than 50%. While the final few years were lean, his legacy both as a Test batter and captain will be remembered for years to come.

Along the way, Virat produced jawdropping performances, with his most noteworthy coming in difficult conditions away from home. As both a leader and fab four superstar, Kohli drove India’s belief that they could not only compete, but win in foreign conditions.

Virat Kohli’s best innings in Test cricket? A look at his top 5

It is a difficult ask narrowing down the list of best Test knocks by Virat Kohli to just five. In this article, I will justify why these innings make the list by taking into consideration the match context and difficulty in conditions, with some honourable mentions at the end as well.

5. 235 vs England, Mumbai, 2016

India found themselves six down and trailing England’s 400 by 93 runs. By the time Virat Kohli was dismissed, India were 215 ahead and on track to hand England another innings defeat despite scoring 400+.

Kohli’s 235 at Wankhede Stadium was the Indian captain at his masterful best. On a surface offering spin, Virat had no fear in sweeping and driving out of the rough. With every shot, England’s hopes faded further, as Kohli combined with Jayant Yadav (104) to put on 241 runs for the eighth wicket and completely flatten the visitors.

Transforming a difficult position into a winning one was a hallmark of Kohli’s career, and this innings was one of the standout examples. India bowled England out for 195 second time around to win by an innings and 36 runs.

4. 153 vs South Africa, Centurion, 2018

Virat Kohli’s effort in the 2018 series in South Africa was one of the highlights of his Test career. His 54 and 41 on a Johannesburg minefield was testament to just how good he was at the time. Earlier in that series, Kohli struck a masterful 153 out of India’s first innings score of 307 on a difficult Centurion pitch to keep them in the contest.

Leading by 31, South Africa fell to 3/2 in the second innings. However, a fighting Dean Elgar knock and AB de Villiers masterclass left India needing a tough target of 287 to win. India fell short, but the fact there was even a contest is credit to Virat, whose 153 at a strike rate of 70.50 against Morne Morkel, Vernon Philander and Kagiso Rabada embodied a player at the peak of his powers.

3. 123 vs Australia, Perth, 2018

If you tell me that this is Virat Kohli’s best innings in Test cricket, I wouldn’t argue. The first-ever Test at Optus Stadium in Perth was a difficult one for the batters, with helmets struck, fingers broken and endless blows on bodies. Plus, there was sharp spin, with Nathan Lyon producing a player-of-the-match performance.

In response to a fighting 326 by Australia that seemed above par, Virat stood tall after India lost two early wickets. The then-Indian captain led from the front, biding his time and pouncing on anything in his arc. His masterful 123 was the only century from either side.

“Superb knock from the master,” said Allan Border on commentary. “Probably one of his best.” And how right he was.

2. 149 vs England, Edgbaston, 2018

The spotlight was well and truly on Virat heading into the 2018 series in England. His 2014 series was a nightmare, exposed regularly outside the offstump as James Anderson had the better of him. All eyes were on the Indian captain to see how he would respond.

There were no prizes for guessing that Anderson would be employed to test Kohli early. The great England bowler delivered one of the more challenging examinations of Kohli’s temperament, with the typically freeflowing batsman facing 41 dots out of 43 balls against Anderson on day two.

Anderson eventually created a chance that Dawid Malan dropped with Kohli on just 21. From there, the Indian captain didn’t look back, finding his groove as he took control of India’s innings. He scored more than half of India’s 274, taking the game to a shootout which England managed to win by just 31 runs thanks to Sam Curran and Ben Stokes producing clutch performances.

1. 141 vs Australia, Adelaide, 2014

The 2014/15 Border-Gavaskar Trophy saw signs of an Indian side willing to take Australia head on in contrast to their meek surrender of 2011/12. Virat Kohli led the way, starting off with an incredible twin-ton effort to kick off the series in Adelaide.

In an attempt to win, Australia declared to leave India needing 364 to win on the final day. The general consensus was that either a draw or an Australian win were the only realistic results. However, by the time the afternoon came, India were favourites.

Kohli combined with Murali Vijay (99) for a 185-run stand that had India believing. Vijay’s wicket sparked the fall of regular wickets thereon, with India going from 242/2 to 304/6. Despite that, India were in the box seat as long as Kohli was there.

Kohli was magnificent. On a pitch offering sharp spin, Virat used the crease to perfection, driving and pulling his way to a masterful 141. However, one mistimed pull led to his downfall on the 175th delivery he faced, finding deep midwicket that put the match in Australia’s hands.

Other noteworthy performances

There is bound to be other quality knocks that don’t quite make the top five.

Kohli’s 169 against Australia in Melbourne in 2014 was another example of how India were going to stand up to the Aussies. He successfully took on Mitchell Johnson, who tormented England a year earlier, scoring 68 off 73 balls against the left-arm fast bowler in that innings.

Virat’s 119 and 96 against South Africa in Johannesburg in 2013 was a performance to remember. His first innings century was key in getting India to 280 on a pitch offering asssistance against a world class Proteas attack. Then, his second innings 96 was one of the drivers in India reaching 421 and setting South Africa 458 to win. In the end, it was a thrilling draw.

His 104* against Sri Lanka in Kolkata in 2017 was another cracker. On a green pitch, Kohli built on the foundation set by the openers as India started their second innings trailing by 122. His unbeaten 104 came as just one of the remaining six batters reached double figures. The knock was vital in ensuring Sri Lanka faced a tough target of 231, which they were on track to fall well short of as bad light ended the Test with the visitors 75/7.

Calls for IPL to be postponed or cancelled amid India-Pakistan war

The 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) has been suspended due to the India-Pakistan war. Fans were calling for the tournament to be postponed or even cancelled as tensions escalated further with each passing day.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) came in for criticism with the Punjab Kings-Delhi Capitals match going ahead in Dharamshala despite the city’s close proximity to the India-Pakistan border. The match was called off after just 10.1 overs due to a blackout following air-raid warnings in nearby Jammu and Pathankot.

According to Sydney Morning Herald, some Australian players have expressed concern over the situation and are keen to leave India. Sam Perry and Ian Higgins from The Grade Cricketer Podcast have cancelled their remaining live shows and will head back to Australia.

On Friday, the IPL was officially suspended due to the escalating situation.

IPL cheerleader sheds some light on situation in Dharamshala stadium evacuation

A visibly shaken cheerleader in the Punjab Kings-Delhi Capitals match shared her thoughts on the situation as she and other fans were evacuating the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala.

“So basically the entire stadium in the middle of the game was evacuated. It was very scary. Everyone was screaming that there are bombs coming. It’s still very, very scary.

“We want to really go out of Dharamshala and I hope the IPL is going to look after us. This is very, very scary. I don’t know why I’m not crying, I think I’m still in shock at what’s happening,” she said.

This news comes as the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) is in the process of shifting entirely to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the remainder of the tournament, which overseas players were overwhelmingly in favour of. The 27th match between Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi was postponed after a drone landed within the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium complex.

Fans call for IPL 2025 to be postponed, cancelled or shifted amid growing India-Pakistan tensions

“Not just this match …. IPL should be called off. Send OS players and foreign tourists back home. Once everything settles, resume. Playing cricket with missiles flying around is just stupid,” wrote a fan on X (formerly Twitter).

“But for real IPL and any sports should be called off.. Imagine being in Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan fearing for your life while watching the rest of India being immersed in entertainment. This isn’t the time for entertainment. It’s the time for us to be together,” wrote another fan.

At the time of writing, officials are reportedly meeting to discuss the tournament’s future. There is no update regarding future matches at this stage, including Lucknow Super Giants against Royal Challengers Bengaluru today.

LSG vs RCB Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report – IPL 2025 59th Match

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are in freefall, and it doesn’t get any easier in the 59th match of IPL 2025. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), who have won all their away games this season, travel to Lucknow looking to move to the top of the table.

LSG have lost four of their past five matches to leave their season on life support. They must win each of their last three games to get to 16 points, but their net run rate of -0.469 means they need to win big. They have lost heavily in their past two games, leaking runs at an alarming rate.

If LSG don’t get it right here, RCB can take advantage. RCB’s openers have been excellent, as have their finishers with Tim David and Romario Shepherd changing matches down the order. Also, the RCB attack has often worked well as a unit, and they will be looking to restrict the LSG top order tonight.

In this article, we will look at the possible playing XIIs, Lucknow pitch report, fantasy cricket tips and Dream11 prediction for the 59th match of IPL 2025.

IPL 2025 59th Match: LSG vs RCB Possible Playing XIIs

LSG could pick the same XII that lost to PBKS, unless they decide to bring Shardul Thakur back.

Lucknow Super Giants: 1. Aiden Markram, 2. Mitchell Marsh, 3. Nicholas Pooran, 4. Rishabh Pant (c & wk), 5. Ayush Badoni, 6. David Miller, 7. Abdul Samad, 8. Avesh Khan, 9. Prince Yadav/Shardul Thakur, 10. Mayank Yadav, 11. Digvesh Rathi, 12. Akash Singh

Devdutt Padikkal has been ruled out of IPL 2025 with a hamstring injury. Mayank Agarwal has been signed as his injury replacement.

According to reports, Josh Hazlewood is expected to be fit for this clash after missing the CSK game with a shoulder niggle. Phil Salt is also a chance of returning, but Jacob Bethell has been excellent at the top, so a difficult decision could await RCB.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru: 1. Jacob Bethell/Phil Salt, 2. Virat Kohli, 3. Mayank Agarwal, 4. Rajat Patidar (c), 5. Jitesh Sharma (wk), 6. Tim David, 7. Romario Shepherd, 8. Krunal Pandya, 9. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 10. Josh Hazlewood, 11. Yash Dayal, 12. Suyash Sharma

The average first innings score on this ground is 175.8. Chasing teams have won four of the five matches. The only time the team batting first won was when LSG made 200+ against MI on April 5.

Pacers have taken 37 wickets this season in Lucknow, compared to 18 by spinners. Expect the captain who wins the toss to choose to bowl.

A hot and mostly clear evening is forecast with a top of about 32 degrees at match time.

Fantasy Cricket Tips for LSG vs RCB: Top Picks/Key Players to Watch

Top wicket-keeper picks:

  • Nicholas Pooran is comfortably the safest wicket-keeper pick for this match (if Salt doesn’t play), although he has scored just 60 runs in his past five innings. Against RCB, Pooran has scored 202 runs at an average of 28.86 and strike rate of 171.19.

Key batter picks:

  • Virat Kohli has struck four consecutive half-centuries and five half-centuries in his past six innings. Virat, with 505 runs, is just five runs behind Orange Cap holder Suryakumar Yadav.
  • Mitch Marsh has scores of 60, 30 and 45 in his past three matches at Lucknow. Marsh has been one of LSG’s top performers with 378 runs at a strike rate of 155.55 this season.
  • Ayush Badoni has been in magnificent touch. He has scored 20+ in his last eight innings, including two fifties in his past four matches. Batting first this season, Badoni has scored 183 runs (avg. 30.5, SR 141.9). Batting second, he has scored 143 runs (avg. 47.7, SR 162.5).

Top all-rounder picks:

  • Krunal Pandya has been one of RCB’s top performers this season. The left-arm spinner has 14 wickets at a strike rate of 15.00. Spinners have taken 18 wickets at Lucknow this season – one of the more spinner friendly grounds in IPL 2025.
  • Aiden Markram has three fifties in his past four matches at Lucknow. Given RCB have many right-handers, Markram’s bowling involvement is expected to be limited.

Key bowler picks:

  • Pick Josh Hazlewood with confidence if he is selected. He is the second-highest wicket-taker this season (18), taking wickets consistently in the crunch overs.
  • Digvesh Rathi knows these conditions well. He has an average of one wicket per match at Lucknow at an economy of just 6.40.

Other Players to Consider for your Fantasy Cricket Teams

  • Jacob Bethell has made a strong impact in IPL 2025. He hit a 33-ball 55vs CSK and will look to go after LSG’s struggling attack here.
  • Romario Shepherd can be a good differential pick if RCB bats first. He will look to finish strongly against LSG’s expensive attack.
  • Rajat Patidar has struggled for momentum in recent matches. But, he has had past success against LSG (141 runs, avg. 141, SR 188).

Stats and Other Important Matchups

  • Head-to-head: Matches 5, LSG 2, RCB 3.
  • Mitch Marsh has 250 runs against pace this season at an average of 31.2 and strike rate of 170.1. Against spin, the opener has struck 128 runs at a strike rate of 134.7 with one dismissal.

  • Josh Hazlewood vs Nicholas Pooran in T20s: 11 balls, 11 runs, one wicket.
  • Bhuvneshwar Kumar vs Nicholas Pooran in T20s: 50 balls, 72 runs, two wickets.

Reactions to Rohit Sharma retiring from Test cricket

Rohit Sharma has announced his retirement from Test cricket. After a poor run of form last year, there has been constant speculation in the media that India were intending on replacing Rohit as Test captain. This speculation ramped up in recent days, with Indian Express reporting that the selectors were keen to move in a different direction for the upcoming England series.

Rohit took to Instagram on Wednesday to make his announcement and confirmed he will still play ODIs for India.

“Hello everyone I would just like to share that I am retiring from Test cricket. It’s been an absolute honour to represent my country in whites,” Rohit wrote. “Thank you for all the love and support over the years. I will continue to represent India in the ODI format.”

Rohit retires with 4,301 runs to his name at an average of 40.57 from 67 Tests, including 18 fifties and 12 hundreds. His 2021 year was up there with his best in Test cricket, hitting a memorable 161 against England in Chennai before displaying good technique in tricky conditions in England later that year.

Things turned sour for Rohit as opener and captain in 2024. He averaged just 10.93 across eight matches against Bangladesh, New Zealand and Australia. Also, India lost 3-0 in remarkable fashion to New Zealand at home under his leadership, followed by a 3-1 defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Rohit did not take part in the final match at the SCG, fuelling speculation that he may have played his last Test.

Twitter Reactions: Rohit Sharma says goodbye to Test cricket

Praise for Rohit Sharma

Despite the sour ending, it was a Test career filled with some wonderful highlights. Fans and pundits praised Rohit Sharma for his contributions in Test cricket, especially when he was able to adjust in different conditions a few years ago.

“Test cricket asks a lot of you – grit, patience and character. Brotherman, you gave it everything and yet made it look effortless. From a quiet fighter to a leader at the top, your journey in whites has been special. Proud of you, go well, @ImRo45,” wrote Yuvraj Singh on X, formerly Twitter.

Here are some other reactions praising Rohit in Test cricket, including from current and former players.

Was there room for even more from Rohit Sharma in Test cricket?

There is also the feeling that Rohit could have achieved more in the format. After a slow start, Rohit found his groove in Tests, but an average of 40 is perhaps below is potential.

India’s Test series against England begins on 20 June. Shubman Gill and Jasprit Bumrah are the frontrunners to replace Rohit Sharma as Test captain.

PBKS vs DC Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report – IPL 2025 58th Match

The 58th match of IPL 2025 has almost a quarter-final like feel to it. While it’s not the end of the road for the losing team, getting the two points here is so vital in the race for the playoffs.

Delhi Capitals (DC), who are in need of a revival in form, travel to Dharamshala to play the in-form Punjab Kings (PBKS). After such a brilliant first half of the campaign, DC have lost their way, losing four of their last six completed matches to now sit fifth.

Also, DC looked to have got lucky in their last outing, with the Hyderabad rain stopping them from having to defend a low 133/7 after a disappointing performance from their top order. Now is the time to step up as victory here will put them back in the top four.

For PBKS, they will want more of the same they produced last game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The batting was dominant, with Prabhsimran Singh setting things up yet again. Also, Arshdeep Singh is a huge asset in these conditions, so PBKS will be looking to dominate the powerplays and go from there.

In this article, we will look at the possible playing XIIs, Dharamshala pitch report, fantasy cricket tips and Dream11 Prediction for the 58th match of IPL 2025.

IPL 2025 58th Match: PBKS vs DC Possible Playing XIIs

PBKS could stick with the same XII that beat LSG easily a few days ago.

Punjab Kings: 1. Prabhsimran Singh (wk), 2. Priyansh Arya, 3. Shreyas Iyer (c), 4. Josh Inglis (wk), 5. Nehal Wadhera, 6. Marcus Stoinis, 7. Shashank Singh, 8. Azmatullah Omarzai, 9. Marco Jansen, 10. Yuzvendra Chahal, 11. Arshdeep Singh, 12. Vijaykumar Vyshank

DC may look at playing Ashutosh Sharma in their original XI if they bat first. This will enable them to play an extra seamer.

Delhi Capitals: 1. Faf du Plessis, 2. Abishek Porel, 3. Karun Nair, 4. KL Rahul (wk), 5. Axar Patel (c), 6. Tristan Stubbs, 7. Ashutosh Sharma, 8. Mitchell Starc, 9. Dushmantha Chameera, 10. Kuldeep Yadav, 11. T Natarajan, 12. Mohit Sharma/Mukesh Kumar

Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium Dharamshala Pitch Report and Weather

PBKS smashed 236/5 against LSG here. Bowling second, PBKS found movement in the air and off the pitch to reduce LSG to 27/3 in 4.2 overs. Some late hitting got LSG to 199/7 as conditions eased out.

There is a chance of rain in the afternoon, but AccuWeather forecasts mostly clear conditions and a top of around 18 degrees. Batting first could be an option, but the possibility of dew may prompt the captain who wins the toss to chase.

Fantasy Cricket Tips for PBKS vs DC: Top Picks/Key Players to Watch

Top wicket-keepers:

  • Prabhsimran Singh is quickly evolving into a consistent force. He has made three half-centuries in a row, including a 48-ball 91 against LSG on this ground a few nights ago. His battle against Mitchell Starc will be important.
  • KL Rahul has fallen off a little, but he remains a crucial player. He will be motivated to perform well against his former side.

Key batter picks:

  • Shreyas Iyer has picked up his form after a mini-slump during the middle part of the season. The PBKS captain has 23*, 72 and 45 in his past three knocks, and is striking at 192 against pace this season. Expect pace to play an important role in these conditions, which Shreyas enjoys.
  • Priyansh Arya scored just one run in the last game, but that was his first single-digit score since April 5. He made six 20+ scores in his previous seven innings. Like Shreyas, Priyansh has been superb against pace in the 2025 IPL, striking at 205.2.
  • Tristan Stubbs has been consistent for DC, with 259 runs at an average of 51.80 and strike rate of 151.46. In the first innings of matches this season, Stubbs has smashed 164 runs at an average of 82.0 and strike rate of 156.2. Batting second, Stubbs has 95 runs at an average of 31.7 and strike rate of 143.9.
  • Faf du Plessis averages 53.38 and strikes at 144.50 in 18 innings against Punjab Kings. Also, Faf has a strike rate of 156.9 in 58 balls against Marco Jansen (91 runs, two wickets).

Top all-rounder picks:

  • Axar Patel has picked up four wickets in his past two innings. Spinners may not have as much as a say in Dharamshala, but he Axar remains a strong Dream11 fantasy pick as he bats at five. However, Axar could use himself in the powerplay as he has good numbers against Prabhsimran Singh: 26 balls, 24 runs, one wicket.

Key bowler picks:

  • Arshdeep Singh had the ball on a string at Dharamshala a few nights ago, swinging the ball both ways to beautiful effect (3/16). He is a genuine vc option in Dream11 especially if PBKS bowls second. He has good head-to-head numbers against KL Rahul: 25 balls, 31 runs, two wickets.
  • Mitchell Starc will be vital against PBKS’ top order. He can get the ball to swing and nip around in the powerplay.

Other Players to Consider for your Fantasy Cricket Teams

  • Josh Inglis is a good spin-hitter and enjoys the hit-the-deck bowling that the DC attack may employ in the middle overs.
  • Consider Azmatullah Omarzai, especially if PBKS bowl second. The Afghan seamer has the ability to swing and nip the ball around, and Dharamshala conditions can assist him.
  • Marco Jansen can be a factor with the new ball against DC’s somewhat shaky top order.

Stats and Other Important Matchups

  • Head-to-head: Matches 33, PBKS 17, DC 16.
  • Arshdeep Singh has taken seven wickets between overs 1-3 this season.
  • Priyansh Arya’s powerplay strike rate of 188.05 is the best in the league (min. 100 balls faced).
  • Kuldeep Yadav vs Shreyas Iyer in the IPL: 42 balls, 64 runs, two dismissals.
  • Arshdeep Singh vs Faf du Plessis in the IPL: 47 balls, 56 runs, one dismissal.
  • Yuzvendra Chahal vs KL Rahul in the IPL: 83 balls, 125 runs, one dismissal.
