How LSG should sharpen batting to survive bowling shortfalls

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) boast a powerhouse batting lineup capable of dismantling opponents on their day. Yet, predictable patterns let opponents exploit matchups, while a fragile lower order whispers vulnerability.

With injuries crippling their pace attack, LSG’s best shot at success is to double down on their batting strengths while plugging tactical gaps. Promoting Rishabh Pant to open, unlocking Ayush Badoni’s potential higher up, and reinforcing the lower order with Abdul Samad could be game-changers. Here’s how LSG can fine-tune their lineup for maximum impact.

LSG’s XII from the clash against Delhi Capitals

Aiden Markram (OS), Mitchell Marsh (OS), Nicholas Pooran (OS), Rishabh Pant (c & wk), David Miller (OS), Ayush Badoni, Shardul Thakur, Shahbaz Ahmed, Ravi Bishnoi, Digvesh Singh, Prince Yadav, Manimaran Siddharth (impact)

The right-handed overseas opening pair of Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh brings undeniable prowess against pace, but their susceptibility to away-spin — particularly left-arm orthodox — offers opponents a clear containment strategy. Recognising this, and noting LSG’s left-hand-heavy middle order, Axar Patel immediately brought himself on and delivered two tight overs in the Powerplay.

Following them, a left-hand-dominant middle order featuring Nicholas Pooran, Rishabh Pant, and David Miller packs a punch, excelling against left-arm spin and leg-spin. However, they could stumble against quality off-spin, provided it’s not the part-time variety like Tristan Stubbs. The top five brim with explosive firepower, but they’d need at least one to bat deep into the death overs, given the shaky lower order trailing behind.

That lower order, both inexperienced and lacking quality, adds to LSG’s vulnerabilities — further compounded by an underwhelming and injury-hit pace attack. With Mayank Yadav, Avesh Khan, and Akash Deep sidelined by injury, the pace unit feels nearly non-existent and raises serious questions about the team’s auction strategy. Why they failed to secure a quality overseas pacer remains a mystery, leaving LSG overly reliant on a decent but not match-defining spin unit. Ravi Bishnoi, Manimaran Siddharth, Digvesh Singh, and Markram’s part-time off-spin provide some balance, but without a stronger pace backbone, the bowling risks unravelling under pressure, forcing their explosive batting to carry an outsized load.

A Game-Changing Idea for LSG Batting: Open with Rishabh Pant

One way to shake up LSG’s approach is to open with Rishabh Pant alongside Mitchell Marsh. Here’s the case:

Benefits:

  1. Disrupting the Right-Handed Opening Pair: Markram and Marsh excel against pace but can be tied down by left-arm spin. Pant’s left-handed flair breaks that pattern, forcing bowlers to adapt.
  2. Balancing the Middle Order: The Pooran-Pant-Miller left-hand cluster risks predictability. Opening Pant creates left-right switches throughout, unsettling opposition plans.
  3. Maximising Pant’s Strengths: Pant’s struggles with deliveries outside off are well-documented. The Powerplay’s field restrictions suit his attacking game, and a settled Pant could dominate the middle overs.

Drawback:

  1. Markram’s Shift: Moving Markram to number 4 or 5 isn’t ideal, but he’s no stranger to it. For South Africa, he’s opened in just seven of 53 T20 innings, spending most of his time at number 4 or 5. Even in the IPL, the game against DC marked his first time opening, as he primarily batted in the middle order for SRH.

Overall, the upside far outweighs the downside.

Bolstering the Lower Order: Abdul Samad’s Case

Manimaran Siddharth, the 26-year-old left-arm spinner from Tamil Nadu, made waves last season by claiming Virat Kohli as his maiden IPL wicket. Back then, he leaned heavily on arm-balls, delivered with an index finger grip and an upright seam angled toward fine leg, consistently swinging the ball into right-handers at speeds topping 100kph.

This season, Siddharth has elevated his game. Beyond his natural skid, he’s now extracting sharp turn and bounce – adding another dimension to his bowling.

With Siddharth capably filling the left-arm spinner’s role, LSG could seize the opportunity to drop Shahbaz Ahmed and slot Abdul Samad into the number 7 spot to strengthen their fragile lower order.

Samad, early in his career, showed impressive pace-hitting ability. Though his sample size remains small, he boasts an average of 44.5 and a strike rate of 240.5 against short-length deliveries from pacers in the IPL.

Elevating Ayush Badoni

Ayush Badoni at number 6 feels like a waste. His crisp shot-making and game against spin suit number 3 or 4, where he could float based on matchups or wickets. Batting at number 3 in the DPL, he scored 522 runs for the South Delhi Superstarz at a blistering strike rate of 225. Batting him higher pushes Markram and Miller down, fortifying the lower order — a win-win.

The Optimised Batting Order

1. Rishabh Pant, 2. Mitchell Marsh, 3. Ayush Badoni (situation-dependent), 4. Nicholas Pooran, 5. Aiden Markram, 6. David Miller, 7. Abdul Samad, 8. Shardul Thakur

RR vs KKR Dream11 Prediction Possible XIs Pitch Report – IPL 2025 6th Match

Rajasthan Royals (RR) will face the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 6th match of IPL 2025. Both sides lost their first respective games this season and will be eager to open their account in this match. This game will be played at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, Assam on 26th March.

RR lost their first game by 44 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Their bowlers had nowhere to hide as SRH scored a mammoth 286 runs. Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel were excellent for the Royals but a top-order collapse meant they fell short of the target.

Tushar Deshpande was the best bowler for RR and Theekshana also bowled well. Jofra Archer was very expensive and Fazalhaq Farooqi too failed to make an impact. Rajasthan’s batting looked good with Shimron Hetmyer and Shubham Dubey stepping up with the bat, but they’ll have to be on their toes in the bowling department.

The defending champions, KKR lost their first game against RCB by seven wickets. Phil Salt and Virat Kohli decimated their bowling as they chased down 174 runs quite easily. Sunil Narine regained his form while Ajinkya Rahane’s fifty was inspiring. None of the other batters got going in the first game. They will need the likes of Rinku Singh, Venkatesh Iyer, Andre Russell and Quinton de Kock to contribute consistently with the bat.

All the bowlers, except Sunil Narine, including Varun Chakaravarthy were quite expensive for KKR. Harshit Rana created chances but they failed to capitalise on them. KKR will be eager to regroup as a team and come back strongly in this match.

IPL 2025 6th Match: RR vs KKR Probable Playing XIIs

RR may bring in Wanindu Hasaranga for Maheesh Theekshana or Jofra Archer.

Rajasthan Royals: 1. Sanju Samson, 2. Yashasvi Jaiswal, 3. Nitish Rana, 4. Riyan Parag (c), 5. Dhruv Jurel (wk), 6. Shimron Hetmyer, 7. Shubham Dubey, 8. Wanindu Hasaranga, 9.  Jofra Archer/Maheesh Theekshana, 10. Tushar Deshpande, 11. Sandeep Sharma 12. Fazalhaq Farooqi (Impact)

KKR is expected to be unchanged for this match.

Kolkata Knight Riders: 1. Quinton de Kock, 2. Sunil Narine, 3. Ajinkya Rahane (c), 4. Venkatesh Iyer, 5. Angkrish Raghuvanshi, 6. Rinku Singh, 7. Andre Russell, 8. Ramandeep Singh, 9. Harshit Rana, 10. Spencer Johnson, 11. Varun Chakaravarthy 12. Vaibhav Arora (Impact)

Barsapara Cricket Stadium Guwahati Pitch Report and Weather

The pitch is expected to be a good one for batting as it is for most of the venues in the league. There will be some movement for the pacers with the new ball and spinners will also get some assistance off the deck. Overall, the batters are expected to dominate the game.

Scores in the range of 180-200 are expected with teams preferring to chase if they win the toss. In a T20I in November 2023, Australia chased down India’s 222. Last season, Punjab Kings chased Rajasthan’s 144 with ease.

The weather will be clear with no chance of rain. The temperature will be around 32 degrees Celsius at the game time.

Fantasy Cricket Tips for RR vs KKR: Top Picks/Key Players to Watch

Note: Try to pick more batters and all-rounders if you are playing on Dream11. The new point system rewards the batters heavily.

Top Wicket-Keeper Picks:

  • Sanju Samson scored 66 in the first game against SRH. He looked in great touch despite not being 100% fit. Samson has 529 runs against KKR at an average of 29.40 including three fifties.
  • Quinton de Kock has 389 runs in 12 innings against the Royals at an average of 35.40 with three fifties. De Kock has struggled to get going in recent times but will be a good fantasy pick.
  • Dhruv Jurel justified his price tag in the first match. He scored 70 in just 35 deliveries. Jurel’s form is a great sign for the Royals going forward. He will be a top fantasy pick.

Key batter picks:

  • Yashasvi Jaiswal has 139 runs against KKR in four innings including a 98 run knock back in 2023. Jaiswal got out early but he can score big on his day. He will be a must in your fantasy teams.
  • Ajinkya Rahane scored 56 off 31 in the first game. He has a poor record against Rajasthan but based on his current form and RR’s new ball attack, Rahane will fancy his chances of a big score.

Top all-rounder picks:

  • Riyan Parag was dismissed cheaply in the first game but he will be a key batter for the Royals and a must in your fantasy teams. He is a good player of spin bowling and likes to bat aggressively. He also fields in the hotspot positions.
  • Andre Russell didn’t bowl in the first game against RCB but he can score big on his day and win games on his own. Russell will be a good fantasy pick but you can take the risk of dropping in Mini GLs or GLs.
  • Sunil Narine scored 106 against Rajasthan in IPL 2024. He scored 44 in the first match. Narine has picked up 14 wickets in 19 innings against RR. He will fetch points from both bat and ball which makes him a top fantasy pick.

Key bowler picks:

  • Varun Chakaravarthy is among the most in-form bowlers in world cricket. He picks up wickets in clusters when he gets going. He has nine wickets in seven games against Rajasthan at an economy of 7.40.
  • Tushar Deshpande has five wickets in five games against the Knight Riders. He picked up three wickets against them in the last season playing for CSK. Deshpande was the best bowler for the Royals in the first game.

Other Players to Consider for Your Fantasy Cricket Team

  • Nitish Rana will bat at 3 for the Royals. He has four fifties against SRH in 16 innings for his 546 runs at an average of 34.10. He may roll his arm over if required. A top fantasy pick who will be a game-changer on his day.
  • Wanindu Hasaranga has six wickets in three games against KKR. He is expected to play this match. Hasaranga is handy with the bat as well and will be a must in fantasy cricket if he plays this game.
  • Wanindu has also kept Andre Russell quiet in domestic T20s (26 balls, 27 runs, 1 wicket). Given Russell was dismissed by legspin in the first game, RR will likely try Hasaranga against him.

Other picks you can consider:

  • Shubham Dubey (GLs)
  • Venkatesh Iyer
  • Harshit Rana (Bowling first)
  • Sandeep Sharma (Bowling first)

Other Matchups and Facts

  • Head to Head: RR (14), KKR (14)
  • Sanju Samson vs Sunil Narine (T20s): 82 deliveries, 66 runs, 3 dismissals.
  • Quinton de Kock vs Sandeep Sharma (T20s): 35 deliveries, 43 runs, 2 dismissals.
  • Quinton de Kock vs Jofra Archer (T20s): 52 deliveries, 100 runs, 3 dismissals.

IPL 2025 6th Match: RR vs KKR Match Prediction: Who will win?

Kolkata Knight Riders’ middle order looked rusty in the first game. Meanwhile, Rajasthan’s bowlers took a lot of beating against SRH. The conditions are not expected to be as flat as in Hyderabad and Rajasthan’s batters looked in good touch. It’s expected to be a close contest but I believe Rajasthan Royals will win this match.

DC vs LSG Twitter Reactions – Ashutosh Sharma 66 (31) pulls off heist

Delhi Capitals (DC) have pulled off a heist in their opening match of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL), coming from nowhere to chase 209 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Visakhapatnam. Ashutosh Sharma, considered one of the buys of the IPL 2025 mega auction, showed why in a magnificent display of finishing, leading his team to victory with an unbeaten 66 off just 31 balls.

The fact DC won this game is quite remarkable. They were in all sorts of trouble right throughout the game. LSG reached 133/1 in just 11.4 overs. They then brought up 160 in the 13th over as Pooran (75 off 30 balls) smashed 28 off a single Tristan Stubbs over. Mitchell Marsh (72 off 36 balls) also dominated the DC attack.

However, as written in our DC IPL 2025 Season Preview, their death bowling is a strength. LSG managed just 39 runs in the last five overs, which assistant coach Lance Klusener believing the team “probably left 20 or 30 runs with the bat out there.” Mitchell Starc’s wicket of Pooran and Kuldeep Yadav’s magnificent spell were particularly important to keep DC in the contest.

That being said, LSG were still in a great position to win with 209 on the board. They reduced DC to 7/3 in the first ten balls. By the seventh over, the Capitals had lost five wickets, including key players Axar Patel and Faf du Plessis. Tristan Stubbs’ wicket in the 13th over, which left DC reeling at 113/6, looked to be curtains.

However, DC’s finishing, also considered a strength heading into the season, came to the fore. Firstly, Vipraj Nigam was superb on debut. His 15-ball 39 provided the Capitals with hope of a miracle chase. Then, Ashutosh Sharma took over, going from 20 (20) to 61 (31) to pull off a stunning victory.

DC vs LSG Twitter Reactions: Capitals chase 210 in memorable fashion

Ashutosh Sharma 66 (31) and Vipraj Nigam stun LSG

Ashutosh very nearly ran out of partners. He and Mitchell Starc took a questionable quick single at the end of the 17th over which put Starc back on strike. The left-hander was dismissed next ball to leave DC eight down and at risk of being bowled out. Kuldeep Yadav was then run out attempting a quick single to get Ashutosh on strike, before Mohit Sharma scrambled a single after surviving an LBW and missed stumping. Next ball, Ashutosh sealed the win with another superb six.

Fans praised Ashutosh Sharma for his innings of 66 and criticised Punjab Kings (PBKS) for releasing him. “So glad IPL is back. Entertainment every night. Dehli down and out but found a way to get over the line,” wrote Albie Morkel.

Rishabh Pant in the spotlight after missed opportunities

LSG had chances to win. The biggest came in the final over where Rishabh Pant missed a stumping off Mohit Sharma, which would have sealed an LSG win. Mohit was done by an excellent delivery by Shahbaz Ahmed that spun away, caught the back pad and then burst out of Rishabh’s gloves with the number 11 batter overbalancing out of his crease.

Next ball, LSG inexplicably let a quick single through to enable Ashutosh to get back on strike. Also, LSG not bowling Shardul Thakur in the crunch overs came in for criticism from fans.

Rishabh Pant looked a forlorn figure as Ashutosh’s fifth six sealed a DC win, after his own six-ball duck represented a tough outing for the new LSG captain. Fans were critical of his performance, but it should be remembered it is only one game and Pant has it in him to bounce back.

Mitchell Marsh, Nicholas Pooran and Kuldeep Yadav also star in thrilling game

Marsh and Pooran were superb. Their six-hitting was a sight to behold. They set up a magnificent platform for LSG to get 230+, but it wasn’t to be.

One reason it didn’t eventuate was Kuldeep Yadav. The spinner was magnificent on an excellent batting pitch, taking 2/20 off his four overs including an incredible 15 dot balls.

DC walk away with the win but know there is plenty of room for improvement. KL Rahul could be back next game after he and his wife happily welcomed their first child. They take on Sunrisers Hyderabad at this venue next Sunday in what promises to be a cracking clash.

Next up for LSG is arguably the toughest test in the league – SRH at Hyderadabad – on Thursday. SRH are fresh off smashing 286 against RR and have the inexperienced LSG attack in their sights.

GT vs PBKS Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report – IPL 2025 5th Match

The 5th match of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) has the makings of a classic. Gujarat Titans (GT) and Punjab Kings (PBKS), two genuine top four contenders, do battle in what promises to be an exciting clash.

PBKS are one of the most talked about teams this season. Ricky Ponting and Shreyas Iyer as a leadership duo lifts hopes of a first playoffs’ appearance since 2014. In addition, PBKS have an exciting squad, with their possible XII capable of challenging any team in the league.

GT also have their positives. Their top three of Shubman Gill, Jos Buttler and Sai Sudharsan can be prolific. They have plenty of experience in the bowling department too, with Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada and Prasidh Krishna expected to form the pace attack. However, whether the middle order and death bowling can deliver the goods remains to be seen.

In this article, we will look at the possible XIIs, Ahmedabad pitch report, fantasy tips and Dream11 prediction for the 5th match of IPL 2025.

IPL 2025 5th Match: GT vs PBKS Possible Playing XIIs

Glenn Phillips and Shahrukh Khan are expected to be key cogs in the middle order. GT could lineup with three strong spin options in Rashid Khan, R Sai Kishore and Washington Sundar.

Gujarat Titans: 1. Shubman Gill (c), 2. Jos Buttler (OS, wk), 3. Sai Sudharsan, 4. Glenn Phillips (OS), 5. Shahrukh Khan, 6. Rahul Tewatia, 7. Washington Sundar, 8. Rashid Khan (OS), 9. R Sai Kishore, 10. Kagiso Rabada (OS), 11. Mohammed Siraj, 12. Prasidh Krishna

PBKS have excellent options right throughout their squad. Class players including Azmatullah Omarzai and Marco Jansen may miss out on selection.

Punjab Kings: 1. Prabhsimran Singh (wk), 2. Josh Inglis (OS), 3. Shreyas Iyer (c), 4. Glenn Maxwell (OS), 5. Nehal Wadhera, 6. Marcus Stoinis (OS), 7. Shashank Singh, 8. Harpreet Brar, 9. Lockie Ferguson/Marco Jansen (OS), 10. Arshdeep Singh, 11. Yuzvendra Chahal, 12. Kuldeep Sen

Narendra Modi Stadium Ahmedabad Pitch Report and Weather

The average first innings score at Ahmedabad in IPL 2024 was 172.5. Scores ranged from as low as 89 to as high at 231. The chasing team won six of eight games.

Expect a surface that has some assistance for the pace bowlers upfront. Given the conditions at Ahmedabad and favour towards chasing teams, expect the captain who wins the toss to bowl first.

GT vs PBKS Fantasy Cricket Tips – Top Picks/Key Players to Watch

Top wicket-keeper picks:

  • Jos Buttler has had a tricky period as England captain, but expect him to play with total freedom in the IPL. Buttler has a great record in T20s on this ground: 8 inns, 317 runs, avg. 52.83, SR 146.08.

Key batter picks:

  • Shubman Gill at Ahmedabad often means big runs. He has struck 1,079 runs in 19 T20s on this ground at an average of 71.93 and strike rate of 163.24.
  • Gill has also made three 50+ scores in five innings for GT against PBKS.
  • Sai Sudharsan was GT’s highest run-scorer last season with 527 at an average of 47.90 and strike rate of 141.28. He also has four 30+ scores in five innings vs PBKS.
  • Talking about in form players, Shreyas Iyer is certainly in that list. He was excellent in the recent Champions Trophy, and averages 59.67 with a strike rate of 167.29 in five T20s at Ahmedabad.

Top all-rounder picks:

  • Glenn Phillips can contribute in all three facets of the game, although his bowling opportunity may be limited given PBKS have a plethora of right-handers. He is in superb form with the bat and fields in hotspot positions, which often means fantasy points.
  • Glenn Maxwell had a season to forget in IPL 2024, but always has it in him to produce the goods. GT have some left-handers Maxwell could target with his offspin and will likely bat at four.

Key bowler picks:

  • Rashid Khan is almost always a factor with the ball. He can also contribute with the bat. Rashid has good head-to-head numbers against PBKS’ middle order players including Shreyas Iyer (77 balls, 83 runs, two wickets), Glenn Maxwell (71 balls, 77 runs, three wickets) and Marcus Stoinis (61 balls, 64 runs, five wickets).
  • Arshdeep Singh is a genuine wicket-taker and always in the conversation for the Purple Cap. He has taken just three wickets in five matches against GT so far, but his wicket-taking potential is immense as he bowls in the crunch overs.
  • Yuzvendra Chahal is one of the IPL greats. Since the start of 2022, Chahal has taken 47 wickets between overs 7-16 at a strike rate of 18.4. He will look to target GT’s middle order here.
  • Chahal also has excellent numbers against Shubman Gill in the IPL: 51 balls, 62 runs, three wickets.

Other Players to Consider for your Fantasy Cricket Teams

  • Kagiso Rabada will bowl in the crunch overs given the makeup of the GT attack. He has good numbers against Maxwell in all T20s: 30 balls, 41 runs, three wickets.
  • Josh Inglis is expected to open for PBKS. Also, he is in excellent form after hitting a century in the recent Champions Trophy. Definitely worth a try in your Dream11 teams.
  • Prabhsimran Singh showed glimpses of his best last season, but averaged just 23.85 in the end. His strike rate of 156.80 in IPL 2024 makes him a player to watch a potential pick in Dream11.
  • Marcus Stoinis is a bowling option in the powerplay and will be an important finisher for PBKS. Fantasy points potential.
  • Lockie Ferguson is a key bowler for PBKS at the death, which can bring about wicket-taking opportunities. Marco Jansen is also a terrific powerplay bowler and excellent Dream11 pick if he’s selected over Ferguson.

Other Stats and Important Matchups

  • Head-to-head: Matches 5, GT 3, PBKS 2.
  • Jos Buttler vs Arshdeep Singh in all T20s: 46 balls, 69 runs, one dismissal.
  • Jos Buttler vs Kagiso Rabada in all T20s: 72 balls, 109 runs, two dismissals.
  • Shubman Gill vs Arshdeep Singh in all T20s: 51 balls, 64 runs, one dismissal.
  • Shreyas Iyer vs Mohammed Siraj in the IPL: 33 balls, 39 runs, two dismissals.
  • Shreyas Iyer vs Washington Sundar in the IPL: 24 balls, 35 runs, two dismissals.

DC vs LSG Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report – IPL 2025 4th Match

Delhi Capitals (DC) will play the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 4th match of IPL 2025. This will be both sides’ first game of this season. The match will be played at Vizag on March 24th.

DC finished 6th in IPL 2024, and we’ve seen some big changes in their squad since then. They let go of Rishabh Pant, who interestingly went to LSG. The opposite happened with KL Rahul, who is now at DC after being released by the Super Giants.

Faf du Plessis and Mitchell Starc are other big names who will be playing for DC this season. Axar Patel will lead them in IPL 2025. Mohit Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav and Mukesh Kumar will be the key bowlers for the Capitals. The Delhi Capitals have a solid-looking batting unit and a good bowling attack as well, and can hold their own at the death.

Meanwhile, LSG’s squad construction has come in for some criticism. They don’t have any overseas bowlers except Shamar Joseph, who lacks experience at this level. They have Matthew Breetzke, Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh, David Miller and Nicholas Pooran as their key overseas players, with batting the focus.

The side is filled with too many left-hand batters with Shahbaz Ahmed also there in the squad. Abdul Samad and Ayush Badoni will be the key domestic batters. Avesh Khan and new recruit Shardul Thakur will be the lead pacers for Lucknow. Ravi Bishnoi will lead the spin attack. Overall, LSG looks like a batting-heavy side and they will depend on their batters to win them games.

IPL 2025 4th Match: DC vs LSG Probable Playing XIs

KL Rahul could miss the first two games of the season due to the birth of his child. If he plays, he may drop to the middle order.

Delhi Capitals: 1. Jake Fraser-McGurk, 2. Faf du Plessis, 3. Abishek Porel, 4. KL Rahul (wk), 5. Tristan Stubbs, 6. Axar Patel (c), 7. Ashutosh Sharma, 8. Sameer Rizvi/Mohit Sharma, 9. Kuldeep Yadav, 10. Mitchell Starc, 11. T Natarajan, 12. Mukesh Kumar

LSG have problems with Mohsin Khan ruled out with injury. Akash Deep, Mayank Yadav and Avesh Khan are all recovering from injuries and are unavailable.

Lucknow Super Giants: 1. Aiden Markram/Yuvraj Chaudhary, 2. Mitchell Marsh, 3. Rishabh Pant (c & wk), 4. Nicholas Pooran, 5. Ayush Badoni, 6. David Miller, 7. Abdul Samad, 8. Shahbaz Ahmed, 9. Shardul Thakur, 10. Rajvardhan Hangargekar, 11. Shamar Joseph/Prince Yadav, 12. Ravi Bishnoi

ACA-VDCA Stadium Visakhapatnam Pitch Report and Weather

A good wicket with plenty of runs will be on offer for this game. The pacers will get some movement with the new ball and there might be something for the spinners as well. However, the ball will come onto the bat nicely allowing the batters to play their shots.

Two games were played at this venue in IPL 2024 and both were won by sides batting first. KKR scored a mammoth 272/7 against DC and then DC scored 191/5 against CSK and won the game. Despite this, teams are expected to prefer chasing if they win the toss.

It will be a clear day with no chance of rain. It will be quite hot and humid with the temperature being around 27-28 degrees Celsius at game time. Humidity will be around 80% so dew can be a factor.

Fantasy Cricket Tips for DC vs LSG: Top Picks/Key Players to Watch

Note: Try to pick more batters and all-rounders if you are playing on Dream11. The new point system rewards the batters heavily.

Top Wicket-Keeper Picks:

  • KL Rahul is amongst the most consistent batters of the IPL. He scored 520 runs in 14 games last year at an average of 37.12 with a strike rate of 136.12 including four fifties. Rahul has been in top form lately and will be a must in your fantasy teams.
  • Rishabh Pant scored 446 runs in 13 games last year. He scored 106 in two games at Vizag last season including fifties in both games. Pant is expected to bat in the top order and he will be a top C/VC option.
  • Nicholas Pooran smashed 499 runs in 14 matches last season at an average of 62.37 and strike rate of 178.21 with three fifties. Try him as C/VC in your fantasy teams as he can win games on his own.

Key batter picks:

  • Faf du Plessis is another very consistent performer in the IPL in the last few editions. He scored 438 runs at an average of 29.20 and strike rate of 161.62 with four fifties to his name. Faf’s recent form has been good and he will be a top C/VC option as well.
  • Jake Fraser-McGurk is going through a forgettable phase with the bat. He has failed to score runs since the last IPL where he scored 330 runs in 9 innings at an average of 36.66 at a whopping strike rate of 234.04. Despite this, he can fire on a good batting pitch.
  • Tristan Stubbs hit 378 runs in 14 games last season at an average of 54 and strike rate of 190.90. He was one of the best batters for the Capitals and will be an excellent pick in fantasy cricket.

Top all-rounder picks:

  • Axar Patel can bat at number 4 if required and will bowl his full quota as well despite the number of lefties in LSG. He scored 235 runs and picked up 11 wickets last year. He will be a decent C/VC option as well.
  • If selected, Aiden Markram will open the batting for LSG. He was in good touch in SA20 but he’s yet to have a good IPL season with the bat. Markram will enjoy the batting conditions at Vizag and can score big on his day.

Key bowler picks:

  • Kuldeep Yadav picked 16 wickets in 11 games last year at an economy of 8.65. 13 of those came in the middle overs. He will be a key bowler for his side against LSG’s left-hand heavy batting unit. Kuldeep will be a must in your fantasy teams.
  • Mitchell Starc will bowl the key overs for DC and can pick up 2-3 wickets easily on his day. He can trouble LSG’s top order if Pant doesn’t open the batting.

Other Players to Consider for Your Fantasy Cricket Team

  • David Miller will be a key batter for LSG in the middle order and he can change the course of the game on his own. Miller will be an excellent differential pick in fantasy cricket.
  • T Natarajan took 19 wickets in 14 games last season. He will bowl two overs towards the end of the innings and will be a good fantasy pick while bowling first.

Other Matchups and Facts

  • Head to Head: DC (2), LSG (3)
  • Nicholas Pooran vs Mitchell Starc (T20Is + T20s): 10 deliveries, 7 runs, 3 dismissals.
  • Nicholas Pooran vs Kuldeep Yadav (T20Is + T20s): 64 deliveries, 64 runs, 5 dismissals.
  • Aiden Markram vs Axar Patel (T20Is + T20s): 12 deliveries, 11 runs, 2 dismissals.

Twitter reactions – SRH smash 286 vs RR in IPL 2025

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have been tipped to break the 300-run barrier in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). They came close to doing so in the first attempt of the season, smashing 286/6 against the Rajasthan Royals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

SRH took advantage of questionable decision making by RR to incredible effect. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head hit 45 together in the first three overs. Head himself smacked a 31-ball 67. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Heinrich Klaasen kept the momentum going throughout the innings with strike rates of 200+ each respectively.

But, the standout performer was Ishan Kishan. In his first match for the franchise, Kishan belted 11 fours and six sixes in 47 balls, notching up his maiden IPL century in front of a sea of orange. He scored runs all over the ground and gave the RR unit no respite.

RR raised eyebrows by choosing to bowl in a day game given they have just five specialist bowling options plus SRH’s batting firepower. For that decision to feel justified, you need all five bowlers to hold their own. Instead, Jofra Archer conceded the most runs ever in an IPL spell – 76 – in a very unhappy return to the franchise.

Twitter reactions to SRH hitting 286 in IPL 2025 season opener against RR

286 by SRH was just one short of the record IPL total, which they set last season against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Fans praised the SRH lineup and questioned the RR thinktank in equal measure. Here are some of the reactions.

SRH kick off IPL 2025 with a bang

Jofra Archer concedes most runs in an IPL spell as RR struggle

While it was a very flat pitch in Hyderabad, RR’s retentions and make up of the bowling attack has been questioned by fans and pundits.

The highest successful run chase in IPL history is 262 by Punjab Kings against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens in IPL 2024. If RR reach 287 against SRH, it will never be forgotten by all who were fortunate enough to tune in.

KKR vs RCB Twitter reactions 2025 – Krunal, Hazlewood, Salt, Kohli destroy hosts

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have made the perfect start to IPL 2025, hammering defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by seven wickets and 22 balls to spare at Eden Gardens.

The most pleasing aspect of the performance for RCB would be how they bounced back and never let KKR back in the contest. The hosts were seeking 220+ at one stage, sitting pretty at 107/1 in the tenth over before a crucial double strike turned the game.

First, Rasikh Dar had Sunil Narine caught behind. At the start of the next over, man of the match Krunal Pandya had Ajinkya Rahane caught at deep backward square. All of a sudden, the two set batters were both dismissed, and RCB had a foothold in the game.

From there, the RCB bowlers – plus Rajat Patidar as captain – were superb. KKR still had plenty of firepower to get a big score, but RCB did their homework regarding matchups. One example was bowling Suyash Sharma to Andre Russell in the 16th over. Such a move could have been seen as high risk, but RCB knew that Russell is susceptible to legspin bowling.

Since the start of 2023, Russell has been dismissed six times by legspin in the IPL at an average of 13.2 and strike rate of 131.7. After Russell hit him for a boundary, Suyash tossed up the perfect googly, beating Russell’s legside swipe to rattle the stumps.

In the end, KKR were only able to scramble to 174, a total that looked at least 40 to 50 short. And once Phil Salt and Virat Kohli hammered 80 in the powerplay, the match was all but over. After Salt was dismissed for an excellent 29-ball 56, Kohli (59* off 36 balls) steadied the ship, combining with Patidar (34 off 16 balls) and Liam Livingstone (15* off 5 balls) to seal an easy, confidence-boosting win.

IPL 2025 1st Match: KKR vs RCB Twitter Reactions – Perfect start to new season for Bengaluru

Here are the reactions and key talking points from the IPL 2025 season opener between KKR and RCB.

Praise for man of the match Krunal Pandya

Krunal, who went for 15 in his first over, took 3/14 in his next three to finish with 3/29. One of the solid defensive spin bowlers in the IPL, Krunal’s brilliance in the middle overs against KKR showed why RCB invested in him for the 2025 season. He was the deserved man of the match given how important his wickets were of Ajinkya Rahane, Venkatesh Iyer and Rinku Singh.

Josh Hazlewood shows his all-format class once again

The Josh Hazlewood vs. Quinton de Kock matchup was one to watch given the pace bowler’s good record against the keeper-batsman. Hazlewood won that convincingly, dismissing de Kock cheaply after he should have had him caught two deliveries before.

No matter the format, expect Hazlewood to deliver. He is simply outstanding at all phases of the innings, and this was on show again at Eden Gardens. He conceded just eight runs in two overs in the powerplay, followed by 14 in his final two at the death.

RCB as a whole were terrific after the Rahane-Narine partnership. The way they executed their plans and kept their nerve is promising in these early stages.

RCB batting fires with Phil Salt, Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar starting strongly

RCB’s top order was magnificent. Phil Salt peppered (haha) the KKR attack, and Virat Kohli ensured the pressure was unrelenting. Theur 95-run partnership in 8.3 overs was perfect not only to settle any potential nerves, but also get RCB thinking of a big win for net run rate. Thanks also to magnificent spin-hitter Rajat Patidar, they achieved the win easily.

KKR will be looking to bounce back against Rajasthan Royals at Guwahati on Wednesday. RCB will play Chennai Super Kings in a blockbuster clash next Friday at Chepauk.

DC IPL 2025 Preview & SWOT Analysis – Delhi Capitals to make a return to the playoffs?

Delhi Capitals (DC) enter the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season with great optimism. After a solid performance in the mega auction, DC look balanced with a mix of players who can deliver at different stages of the innings.

After making the final in 2020 and then finishing top of the league in 2021, DC have failed to qualify for the playoffs in three consecutive seasons. They came close in 2024, finishing sixth, and will now be seeking to win the big moments throughout this campaign.

DC IPL 2025 Preview: Is it the Capitals’ time?

DC Possible XII (for first game of season)

1. Faf du Plessis (OS), 2. Jake Fraser-McGurk (OS), 3. Abishek Porel, 4. Tristan Stubbs (OS), 5. Axar Patel (c), 6. Sameer Rizvi, 7. Ashutosh Sharma, 8. Mitchell Starc (OS), 9. Mukesh Kumar, 10. Kuldeep Yadav, 11. T Natarajan, 12. Mohit Sharma

KL Rahul could miss the first two matches of the season as he and his wife are expecting the birth of their child. Faf du Plessis, the vice-captain, may open alongside Jake Fraser-McGurk, who smashed 110 off 39 balls in a practice match.

Balanced batting lineup cause for excitement

KL Rahul slotting into a lineup featuring the experience of Faf du Plessis, reliability of Axar Patel, and power of Jake Fraser-McGurk, Tristan Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma is reason for excitement. Expect Rahul to play with freedom this season, especially given he won’t be captain plus the issues he had with the LSG management.

Ashutosh Sharma in particular is an astute pickup. Ashutosh, who had a strike rate of 167.25 in IPL 2024, was snapped up for just 3.80 crore by DC. He is one to watch in IPL 2025.

DC death bowling may give them an edge over other teams

Mitchell Starc, Mukesh Kumar and T Natarajan can all land an excellent yorker consistently. Mohit Sharma has been a wicket-taker in recent seasons with his variations.

With these four, DC possess solid defensive bowling options for the backend of the innings. Importantly, Axar has options to turn to in the crunch periods, given all can be of value as batters look to go hard in the final overs.

Other teams in the tournament don’t seem to have that luxury. They are either relying on one death bowler to perform or in the case of Gujarat Titans, for example, possess an attack that looks quite similar in nature.

Spin duo can provide middle overs impact

Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav is an excellent duo in any white-ball format. Axar plays the holding role so well, while Kuldeep is a genuine wicket-taker with his left-arm angle and variations.

Of Kuldeep’s 16 wickets in IPL 2024, 13 came between overs 7-15 at a fine economy of 7.95. Axar Patel took nine wickets in the same period at an even better economy of 7.08.

If these two can produce similar returns this season, it can increase the pressure on opponents to catch up at the death, where DC can hold their own as mentioned above.

Powerplay bowling a concern?

A lot may rest on Mitchell Starc for powerplay impact. However, he can be expensive in this period. He conceded 10.07 per over in the powerplay last season, so DC will be hoping he can take wickets (like his 11 last season) to help offset this.

Mukesh Kumar conceded 10.27 per over in the powerplay, taking four wickets in 11 overs. Mohit Sharma conceded 12.75 per over in the four overs he bowled in this period. T Natarajan fared better (econ. 8.56), but it is clear these three domestic bowlers can be more effective in the middle and backend overs.

So, whether DC can find that wicket-taking threat whilst being as economical as possible in the powerplay is key. Axar Patel may need to step up as a powerplay bowler throughout the tournament, while Mukesh Kumar looks to be the best seam option alongside Starc given his ability to move the new ball.

Conclusion: How far can DC go?

Write DC off at your own peril in IPL 2025. They possess strong depth and balance in their batting, while their death bowling resources can hold them in good stead. I have them qualifying for the playoffs.

KKR IPL 2025 Preview & SWOT Analysis – Back-to-back titles incoming?

The Kolkata Knight Riders silenced doubters in IPL 2024, lifting the trophy with a blend of grit and flair that redefined their legacy. As defending champions, KKR stride into IPL 2025 with a fine squad — yet the road to repeat glory is steep. Rival teams have reloaded, and the spotlight burns brighter.

In this analysis, we unpack KKR’s lineup — its strengths, its cracks, and its shot at glory.

KKR IPL 2025 Preview: Knight Riders contenders once again

KKR Possible XII

1. Quinton de Kock (OS, wk), 2. Sunil Narine (OS), 3. Ajinkya Rahane (c), 4. Venkatesh Iyer, 5. Angkrish Raghuvanshi, 6. Rinku Singh, 7. Andre Russell (OS), 8. Ramandeep Singh, 9. Harshit Rana, 10. Anrich Nortje (OS), 11. Varun Chakravarthy, 12. Vaibhav Arora

Ajinkya Rahane clinched the KKR captaincy for IPL 2025 over Venkatesh Iyer, who was released post-2024 but re-signed for ₹23.75 crore and named vice-captain. Though Venkatesh recently said he was ready to take on the captaincy, if offered, CEO Venky Mysore told ESPNcricinfo, “IPL is quite an intense tournament”, citing the toll on younger captains. Venkatesh will learn under Rahane’s mentorship, with Mysore adding, “Knowing Ajinkya, he will take him [Venkatesh] under his wing and mentor him on the captaincy side of things. So, in a way, I expect they will be kind of joined at the hip and working very closely together.”

Batting Analysis: Power with a Spin Catch

KKR’s top order roared last season, amassing 849 Powerplay runs (average 40.43, strike rate 168.45) — second only to SRH — driven by Narine and Phil Salt. Replacing Salt with Quinton de Kock forms a left-hand opening duo, though it risks exposure to off-spinners. Rahane, fresh off topping the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with 469 runs (strike rate 164.56), slots in at No. 3, aiming to echo his IPL 2023 CSK role as a bridge between openers and middle order.

The middle order favours pace, even more so in the absence of Shreyas Iyer, KKR’s highest run-scorer against spin last season (151.76 strike rate). Quality spin in the middle overs may just trouble them a little.

Down the order, KKR pack a ferocious punch — Rinku, Russell, and Ramandeep poised to wreak havoc as finishers. Harshit at No. 9 only deepens that threat.

Bowling Analysis: Spin Strength, Pace Flux

KKR’s bowling, a cornerstone of their 2024 title, retains its spin edge. Sunil Narine and Varun Chakaravarthy dominated last season, picking up 38 wickets (next best: 30 wickets by DC and RR) at an economy of 7.68 and an average of 23.18, with unmatched middle-over control.

Together, they hand captain Ajinkya Rahane eight overs of high-quality, all-phase spin. Anrich Nortje’s high-pace, hit-the-deck skills could seamlessly complement this duo, creating a nightmare for batsmen in overs 7-16.

Mitchell Starc’s absence weakens KKR’s Powerplay punch. Last season, they topped this phase with 28 wickets (joint-most) at a strike rate of 18 (best in the league), largely due to Starc and Vaibhav Arora’s new-ball sting. Arora remains a reliable option at one end, but replacing Starc’s impact leaves a gap — KKR still have bowlers to compete, though the edge blunts slightly.

At the death, KKR possess multiple options: Harshit Rana, Andre Russell, Nortje, Chakaravarthy, and Narine bring a mix of pace and spin.

Tactical Flexibility: Shaping the Game

One option reshuffles the batting order, pushing Ajinkya Rahane to open and floating Sunil Narine into the middle overs as a low-value wicket to attack spin — a tactic KKR used in 2020. This maximises Rahane’s pace-hitting strengths inside the Powerplay while maintaining a left-hand, right-hand opening combo with Quinton de Kock. It also helps since the middle order might otherwise struggle a little against spin.

KKR also have very decent backup options, with multiple like-for-like replacements:

  • Quinton de Kock 🔄 Rahmanullah Gurbaz
  • Sunil Narine 🔄 Moeen Ali
  • Angkrish Raghuvanshi 🔄 Manish Pandey
  • Andre Russell 🔄 Rovman Powell
  • Anrich Nortje 🔄 Spencer Johnson

If de Kock falters, KKR also have Luvnith Sisodia, an exciting domestic keeper-batter who had an excellent Maharaja T20 Trophy run, waiting in the wings — that could free a middle-order slot for Moeen or Powell.

Conclusion: Could go either way for KKR

They’ve got a solid shot at making the playoffs, but will they? And can they go all the way to defend their crown? I’m not sure. Still, for fans dreaming of purple glory, this could be another thrilling ride.

CSK vs MI Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report – IPL 2025 3rd Match

The IPL El Clasico is upon us nice and early in IPL 2025, with Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians going head-to-head in the 3rd match of the season. Both teams have aspirations of a playoffs appearance after missing out in IPL 2024, and CSK in particular will be looking to make their home advantage count right away.

CSK, under the leadership of Stephen Fleming and Ruturaj Gaikwad, look settled and balanced. They have a strong top order and their bowling attack has the ingredients to deliver at all stages of the innings. However, one area they will want to nail is their finishing with the bat.

MI are seeking their first win in the opening game of an IPL season since 2012. They will have to do it without skipper Hardik Pandya and premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. Also, their strong batting lineup is on notice after failing to deliver last season. If they can finally crack their first game woes, MI will only grow in confidence in an important season for the franchise.

In this article, we will look at the possible playing XIIs, Chepauk conditions, fantasy tips, matchups and Dream11 Prediction for the 3rd match of IPL 2025 between CSK and MI.

IPL 2025 3rd Match: CSK vs MI Possible Playing XIIs

CSK could have a decision to make between Rachin Ravindra and Noor Ahmad as their final overseas pick.

Chennai Super Kings: 1. Ruturaj Gaikwad (c), 2. Devon Conway (OS), 3. Rahul Tripathi/Rachin Ravindra (OS), 4. Shivam Dube, 5. Deepak Hooda, 6. Sam Curran (OS), 7. Ravindra Jadeja, 8. MS Dhoni (wk), 9. R Ashwin, 10. Matheesha Pathirana (OS), 11. Mukesh Choudhary/Noor Ahmad (OS), 12. Khaleel Ahmed

MI could play Shrijith Krishnan or Corbin Bosch in place of Hardik Pandya. Shrijith averages 32.75 with a strike rate of 146.64 in 17 T20s to date. But, he does not offer a bowling option. Bosch, on the other hand, can bowl rapidly. If he plays, Mujeeb Ur Rahman will likely miss out with MI to go for Karn Sharma’s legspin.

Mumbai Indians: 1. Rohit Sharma, 2. Will Jacks/Ryan Rickelton (OS), 3. Naman Dhir, 4. Suryakumar Yadav (c), 5. Tilak Varma, 6. Robin Minz (wk), 7. Corbin Bosch (OS), 8. Mitchell Santner (OS), 9. Raj Bawa, 10. Deepak Chahar, 11. Karn Sharma, 12. Trent Boult (OS)

MA Chidambaram Stadium Chepauk Chennai Pitch Report and Weather

The average first innings score at Chepauk in IPL 2024 was 169.89. The chasing team won six of the nine matches.

There is talk that Chepauk could favour spinners more in IPL 2025. A hot and humid night is forecast in Chennai, with dew a possibility in the second innings. So, a second ball may be introduced. There is no rain expected.

Fantasy Cricket Tips for CSK vs MI: Top Picks/Key Players to Watch

Top wicket-keeper picks:

  • If Ryan Rickelton is selected, he promises to be a great Dream11 pick. The left-hander recently hit a century in the Champions Trophy and was excellent in the SA20: 8 inns, 336 runs, avg. 48.00, SR 178.72.

Key batter picks:

  • If picked, Rachin Ravindra is a must-pick in Dream11. He won player of the tournament at the recent Champions Trophy and will bat up the order for CSK. He can also offer some overs if needed.
  • Ruturaj Gaikwad loves batting at Chepauk: 15 inns, 706 runs, avg. 58.83, SR 139.80. Gaikwad also has very decent numbers against MI: 8 inns, 238 runs, avg. 39.67, SR 143.37.
  • Since the start of 2022, Shivam Dube has scored 143 runs vs MI at an average of 47.67 and strike rate of 136.19. Also, in this period, Dube has scored 816 runs in the middle overs at a strike rate of 150.8 overall in the IPL.
  • Since the start of 2023, Tilak Varma has smashed 1,559 runs in all T20s at an average of 45.9 and strike rate of 154.8.

Top all-rounder picks:

  • Ravindra Jadeja can have a key role to play with both bat and ball. He has dominated Suryakumar Yadav in the IPL: 62 balls, 48 runs, four wickets.

Key bowler picks:

  • Trent Boult has a strong record against both CSK openers. He has overall figures of 3/23 in 26 balls against Ruturaj Gaikwad and 2/44 off 35 balls against Devon Conway.
  • Matheesha Pathirana takes a wicket every 13.20 deliveries at Chepauk. Also, he has taken seven wickets in two matches against MI. Given he bowls in the crunch overs, Pathirana has wicket-taking potential.

Other Players to Consider for your Fantasy Cricket Teams

  • Suryakumar Yadav is one of the world’s top T20 players. But, his record against CSK is modest (314 runs, avg. 28.55, SR 125.60) and needs to improve against Ravindra Jadeja.
  • Rohit Sharma looked in good form in the Champions Trophy, so he can be a good pick here. But, he averages just 24.80 with a strike rate of 123.18 in 17 T20s at Chepauk.
  • Sam Curran can be a handy pick. He bowls in the crunch overs and could be an important finisher for CSK with the bat.
  • Consider Mitchell Santner for Chepauk. Santner is in outstanding form, and if he finds some turn on this surface, he can be even more challenging with his variations in pace.

Other Stats and Matchups

  • Head-to-head: Matches 39, CSK 18, MI 21.
  • Head-to-head at Chepauk: Matches 9, CSK 3, MI 6.
  • Devon Conway vs MI: 3 inns, 44 runs, avg. 14.67, SR 93.62.
  • Khaleel Ahmed has had the better of Rohit Sharma in T20s: 39 balls, 28 runs, two wickets.
  • Matheesha Pathirana vs Suryakumar Yadav in all T20s: 11 balls, 20 runs, three wickets.
  • R Ashwin in T20s at Chepauk: 47 inns, 55 wickets, avg. 21.16, SR 19.91.

  • Sam Curran vs Suryakumar Yadav in all T20s: 38 balls, 84 runs, three dismissals.
