West Indies vs England 3rd ODI Preview Dream11. WI vs ENG 3rd ODI Preview Dream11 Prediction
Game on. With engaged world audiences, crowds and exciting cricket, England’s tour of West Indies continues to dish up awesome talking points. What does the third ODI have in store for us?
West Indies broke their 10-match losing run against England in ODIs, picking up a fine win on Friday. Their batting wasn’t as explosive as the first match, but Shimron Hetmeyer played a true gem of an innings to get the Windies to a competitive total. Led by Sheldon Cottrell, the Windies then defended 289, two days after they were unable to defend 360 on the same ground, setting this series up beautifully. Can they take a series lead against one of the World Cup favourites?
England, while deservedly the number one ranked ODI side, always have an underwhelming performance in them. They would have backed themselves to reach 290 in the second ODI, but lost wickets regularly, culminating in the middle order not quite able to get them home. With consistency and bounce back ability a key factor for success at this year’s World Cup, England have just the test they need to further sharpen their skills. Will they overcome a resurgent Windies side?
Key to a West Indies win
West Indies were crying out for bowling reinforcements after a tough outing first up. Sheldon Cottrell was put forward as a possible answer, and boy did he deliver. His 5/46 against a side that easily chased down 360 two days prior perhaps made him worthy of the man of the match award, but all the Windies will care about is that he makes another impact. He is a wicket taker, and along with the likes of Jason Holder, Oshane Thomas and Devendra Bishoo, the Windies have wicket taking ability. The key would be early wickets again, forcing the England middle order to do some rebuilding. However, to do that effectively, the Windies need to take their chances a lot better than they have been.

Also, can the Windies top order convert their starts? A total of 176 balls were faced by the Windies’ top four in the second ODI, of which 131 runs were scored from (SR 74.43). Shimron Hetmeyer was superb, and will again be key, but much also depends on how efficient the Windies’ top order can be in their scoring rate. This is crucial against an England batting side that fires more often that not.
Key to an England win
Had England batted their overs, they may have won the second ODI. Strong partnerships were the cornerstone of their batting effort in the first match, which began with an excellent powerplay from their two openers. Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow were both out early on Friday, which then helped raise the confidence of Jason Holder and his team. In this crunch match, a strong contribution from at least one of the top two will be key, which then enables Joe Root to keep the scoreboard ticking nicely. With Eoin Morgan and Ben Stokes in good form, along with the superb Jos Buttler, how England bounce back will make for very intriguing viewing.
However, despite the defeat, it was an improved bowling performance by England. Sure, Moeen Ali remains a concern, and so too the use of Adil Rashid, but Mark Wood and Liam Plunkett returned with much better figures in the second ODI. They will be key again with their pace, along with Chris Woakes, but how well can England’s spinners hold a grip on the Windies’ batting? Will Adil Rashid be given the chance to have more of say? Can Moeen Ali overcome two very expensive outings to deliver more control for his team? England must focus on targeting the Windies’ tendency to eat up dot balls, then placing more pressure on the middle order to perform.
