REN vs SCO Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: BBL 2022/23 Match 24 | MR vs PS Dream11 Prediction Today | Docklands Pitch Report

New year, new fortunes for Melbourne Renegades? After a brilliant start to the season where they won their first three matches, they are now in freefall having lost three consecutive games with scores of just 114, 115 and 124/7.

And it doesn’t get any easier with league leader Perth Scorchers in town. Back at the ground where they lifted their fourth BBL title last season, the Scorchers have often performed well at Docklands, winning 11 of 12 matches. Their bowlers have been particularly brilliant and will fancy themselves against a struggling Renegades lineup that is struggling for punch.

However, anything can happen on the day. The Renegades need a fast start, and if they can get it, the pressure reduces on the under fire middle order. For the Scorchers, more of the same will be on the agenda, led by captain fantastic Ashton Turner.

STR vs STA Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: BBL 2022/23 Match 23 | AS vs MS Dream11 Prediction Today | Adelaide Pitch Report

It’s New Years’ Eve and that means a big cricket and fireworks party in Adelaide. Adelaide Strikers will be aiming for a third straight win at home this season when they take on the struggling Melbourne Stars in front of what is expected to be a strong crowd.

The Strikers themselves have lost two straight games, but the fighting spirit would please captain Peter Siddle and the team management. In their last game, they pushed the high-flying Scorchers all the way despite only posting 133/7, in what was another display of the Strikers’ terrific bowling attack.

Today, that attack comes up against a Stars team that is yet to find their best combinations. They are clearly unsure of their batting lineup, with the likes of Marcus Stoinis and Hilton Cartwright not used to their full potential.

With just one win in five outings so far, it’s nearing go time for the struggling Stars. Defeat here will push them further behind the pack, and one feels the batting is most under the spotlight as they aim to turn things around.

Stoinis has scored 242 runs in nine innings vs Stars at an average of 26.82 and strike rate of 108.52. This season, he has mustered just 14 runs in four matches.

Melbourne Stars: 1. Joe Clarke (wk), 2. Tom Rogers, 3. Beau Webster, 4. Nick Larkin, 5. Marcus Stoinis, 6. Hilton Cartwright, 7. Campbell Kellaway, 8. Nathan Coulter-Nile, 9. Luke Wood, 10. Trent Boult, 11. Adam Zampa (c)

  • Expect Adam Zampa to choose to bowl himself to Chris Lynn. In 84 deliveries, he has conceded just 73 runs and has dismissed Lynn thrice.

In seven matches in the recent T20 World Cup, the average first innings score was 158.14, with the team batting first winning four. The last of those matches, however, was England’s brilliant 170/0 chase vs India.

A warm and clear evening is forecast in Adelaide. The top temperature during the day is about 32 degrees.

THU vs HUR Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: BBL 2022/23 Match 22 | ST vs HH Dream11 Prediction Today | Albury Pitch Report

It’s time for New Years’ Eve action. For the first time ever, Lavington Sports Oval in Albury will host a men’s BBL match, and it promises to be an interesting clash as Sydney Thunder and Hobart Hurricanes are looking to build momentum.

After a horror run, including being bowled out for 15, Thunder have won two straight games against the Heat. As a result, they have moved into the top five with a respectable 3-3 record, but their net run rate of -0.540 still needs improvement. Another victory here will increase confidence further as the competition moves into the new year.

For the Hurricanes, this is their first game in a week after a Christmas Eve miracle against Renegades. Courtesy of the bowlers, they defended 122 to pick up a crucial win, but the spotlight will be on the batting which hasn’t fired consistently for quite some time. On paper, the talent is there, but whether Matthew Wade’s team can turn this into better returns remains to be seen.

BBL 2022/23 Match 22: THU vs HUR Possible Playing XIs

Gurinder Sandhu is not in the squad due to a calf injury. 19-year-old Joel Davies has joined the squad.

The Thunder may bring in Ben Cutting as Sandhu’s replacement. Since January 2021, Cutting has struck 46 runs at a strike rate of 184.00 with one dismissal against Hurricanes.

Sydney Thunder: 1. Matthew Gilkes (wk), 2. Alex Hales, 3. Rilee Rossouw, 4. Oliver Davies, 5. Alex Ross, 6. Daniel Sams, 7. Ben Cutting, 8. Nathan McAndrew, 9. Chris Green (c), 10. Brendan Doggett, 11. Usman Qadir

Matthew Wade is back in the Hurricanes squad. Ben McDermott will not play due to a hamstring injury.

Hobart Hurricanes: 1. Matthew Wade (c & wk), 2. D’Arcy Short, 3. Caleb Jewell, 4. Shadab Khan, 5. Tim David, 6. Asif Ali, 7. James Neesham, 8. Joel Paris, 9. Nathan Ellis, 10. Paddy Dooley, 11. Riley Meredith

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

Sydney Thunder:

  • Alex Hales has a magnificent record vs Hurricanes: 7 inns, 346 runs, avg. 57.67, SR 150.43. Last season, he belted 80* (56) and 38 (17) against them.
  • Hales has scored 44 runs off 25 balls vs Riley Meredith without dismissal.
  • Since the start of September, Rilee Rossouw has scored 315 runs at an average of 63.00 and strike rate of 166.67 when batting first in T20s. When batting second, he has scored just 35 runs in six innings.
  • Daniel Sams is coming off a player of the match performance against Brisbane. He slammed 36* (15) and took 2/41.
  • Sams has 10 wickets in eight outings with Hurricanes at an average of 24.50 and economy of 8.91. He averages just 12.20 with the bat, but he is a danger if he comes in to bat in the final overs.
  • In the absence of Gurinder Sandhu, Nathan McAndrew could be used more at the death. He took three wickets in the final over against Heat, and has five scalps in five matches against Hurricanes (avg. 26.20, econ. 8.73).
  • Chris Green is conceding just 5.66 runs per over in BBL 12. Against Hurricanes, the offspinner has taken just the five wickets in eight matches at an average of 36.80 (econ. 8), but he could enjoy the Albury conditions.

Hobart Hurricanes:

  • Matthew Wade is crucial for the Hurricanes. He has a wonderful record for Hobart against Thunder: 8 inns, 328 runs, avg. 46.86, SR 149.09.
  • Wade has scored 27 off 15 against McAndrew (no dismissal) and 75 off 40 against Sams (one dismissal).
  • Will today be the day D’Arcy Short fires? He averages 24.73 in 11 matches vs Thunder, but has a strike rate of 140.21. Also, he has taken 12 wickets, so Hurricanes may use him with the ball if needed.
  • Shadab Khan is yet to fire with the bat this season (57 runs), but he has been superb with the ball: 4 inns, 7 wickets, avg. 14.71, econ. 6.86.
  • Tim David has scored just 27 runs in four innings vs Thunder (avg. 9.00).
  • Paddy Dooley has been the revelation of BBL 12. He has taken nine wickets in four matches at a superb average of 9.44 and economy of 5.66.
  • Riley Meredith was named player of the match on Christmas Eve thanks to his 3/12 vs Renegades. He will be aiming to improve on his record vs Thunder: 5 inns, 5 wickets, avg. 36.00, econ. 9.47.

Other Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 17, Hurricanes 10, Thunder 7.
  • Alex Ross vs Hurricanes since January 2020: 4 inns, 133 runs, avg. 66.50, SR 140.00. Also, Ross smashed 25 off 12 balls in his last match against Heat.
  • Nathan Ellis has taken just one wicket in four matches in BBL 12. Against Thunder, he has taken just three scalps in five innings at an average of 44.33.
  • But, Hurricanes could look to use Ellis against Hales. He has conceded just 22 off 28 against the England star, dismissing him once.
  • Brendan Doggett vs Matt Wade: 13 balls, 16 runs, one dismissal.

Lavington Sports Oval Albury Pitch Report and Weather

This will be the first ever men’s BBL match at Lavington Sports Oval. In two WBBL matches, the average first innings score was 115, with Sydney Thunder successfully chasing the totals of 114 and 116 back in 2016 and 2017 respectively.

This will be a drop in pitch as the ground often hosts a number of sports including NRL and AFL. Also, rural grounds across Australia typically roll out slower pitches that don’t have too much grass. Below is an image of the 2017 WBBL match between Thunder and Stars.

There is a chance of showers in Albury, but mostly in the morning according to bom.gov.au. Temperatures are forecast to reach 29 degrees.

Australia squad for 3rd Test against South Africa

Cricket News: Australia squad for 3rd Test against South Africa | Who will replace Cameron Green and Mitchell Starc?

Australia have named Queensland batsman Matt Renshaw and Western Australia all-rounder Ashton Agar in the 14-man squad for the third Test against South Africa at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

The duo have come in as replacements for Cameron Green and Mitchell Starc who both suffered finger injuries in Australia’s massive innings-and-182-run win at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Australia 14-man squad for SCG Test against South Africa

Pat Cummins (c), Ashton Agar, Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Marcus Harris, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Lance Morris, Matthew Renshaw, Steve Smith (vc), David Warner

Michael Neser, who bowled nicely against West Indies earlier this season, is unlucky to have missed out. Josh Hazlewood has recovered from a side strain and is likeliest to replace Starc, especially given he has an impressive 20 wickets at an average of 25.80 at the SCG.

Renshaw could slot in as Green’s replacement at number six should Australia believe that four frontline bowlers are enough. The left-hander has struck 310 runs in five Sheffield Shield matches this season at an average of 51.66, which includes an unbeaten 200* against New South Wales. He also scored 81 and 101* for Prime Minister’s XI against West Indies before the Tests.

Win at SCG will guarantee place in World Test Championship Final

Should Australia beat South Africa at the SCG, they will be guaranteed a place in the World Test Championship Final in June. Even if Pat Cummins’ team loses 4-0 in India, they will finish on a win percentage of 63.16, which is more than the maximum Sri Lanka and South Africa can reach.

REN vs SIX Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: BBL 2022/23 Match 21 | MR vs SS Dream11 Prediction Today | Geelong Pitch Report

Just like Brisbane Heat and Sydney Thunder yesterday, Melbourne Renegades and Sydney Sixers will meet again less than 48 hours later.

For the second straight match, the Renegades made a mess of a gettable score, bowled out for 115 in pursuit of 150 against the Sixers after failing to chase 123 against the Hurricanes on Christmas Eve. So, it’s clear where the room for improvement is.

Despite three straight wins, the Sixers require improvement of their own. They lost 7/69 in the final ten overs of their batting innings on Wednesday, with the form of the likes of Dan Christian in the spotlight. However, if they keep winning with key contributions along the way, they can continue to sneak up the table while working towards their best form later in BBL 12.

  • Jordan Silk is the Sixers’ second-highest run-scorer in BBL 12 (126). He is averaging 31.50 with a strike rate of 120.00.
  • Ben Dwarshuis dominated the Renegades again with 4/17. He now has taken 23 wickets against them in just 12 matches.
  • Dwarshuis also enjoys bowling at Geelong. In two matches, he has taken six wickets at a strike rate of 8.00.
  • Sean Abbott has taken nine wickets this season at a strike rate of 12.00. This includes 2/17 against Renegades, whom he has 12 wickets against in nine matches.

“Dismal & embarrassing” – South Africa fans react to horror performance in Australia

Cricket News: “Dismal & embarrassing” – South Africa fans react to horror performance in Australia | Reactions: Australia thump South Africa

With barely a whimper, South Africa’s magnificent winning streak in Australia came to an end in an embarrassing defeat by an innings and 182 runs at the MCG. On a good batting surface, the Proteas were rolled for 189 and 204 to surrender the series and also leave their World Test Championship (WTC) Final hopes hanging by a thread.

However, going by this evidence, as well as what they showed in England earlier in 2022, could South Africa even put up a decent fight in a WTC Final? Their attack can challenge anybody, but the bowlers were left as flat as their supporters after the batsmen failed once again.

Sent in by Pat Cummins on a decent batting pitch, the tone was set by some brainless batting in the first session. A stirring partnership between Kyle Verreynne and Marco Jansen on Boxing Day was the only positive in an otherwise forgettable Test for the South Africans; a far cry from the magnificent win on this ground back in 2008.

South Africa fans react to horrible performances in Australia

The heavy defeat in Melbourne followed a two-day Test in Brisbane. Dean Elgar’s team finished the two matches with totals of 152, 99, 189 and 204, batting a total of just 224 overs in the process.

Their score of 204 was the first time in eight innings that the team reached 200, but it did little to improve the mood of the South Africa fans, especially when David Warner hit a superb double ton.

Below are some of the reactions from the disappointed Proteas faithful. “A proud record, held for 14 years, broken after two dismal and embarrassing performances,” read one tweet. “I’d be tempted to say they shouldn’t even bother playing the third,” read another.

The third Test begins on Wednesday, 4th January at the SCG.

Will Cameron Green be fit for the start of the IPL?

Cricket News: Will Cameron Green be fit for the start of the IPL? | How many matches will Cameron Green miss due to a finger injury?

Cameron Green is expected to be ready for the India Test tour and Indian Premier League (IPL) after suffering a fracture to his right index finger in the second Test against South Africa.

Green was struck on the hand by the rapid Anrich Nortje on the second evening. He went off and had scans, with the diagnosis confirmed on Wednesday morning. However, he came back to bat and scored a fighting 51* off 177 balls.

The all-rounder will undergo an operation this week to repair the fracture. The medical team is confident he will be back in action in about four weeks, which is when the Australia squad is due to fly to India for the four-match Test series.

Cameron Green ruled out of SCG Test, should be ready for India tour and IPL

Green did not bowl in the second innings of the MCG Test and is out of the New Year’s Test at the SCG. Also, he is considered unlikely to take any part in the Big Bash League (BBL) as he faces a “a period of recovery leading into the Qantas Tour of India” according to cricket.com.au.

“It’s a great environment to be a part of so I’m definitely going to miss it. I’m going to do as much as I can to get it right and try to go to India,” Green said to the aforementioned website.

“A lot of people talk about the tour to India, how tough it is mentally and physically. It’s going to be a massive tour for us. We’re as best prepared as we’re ever going to be, so (I’m) looking forward to it.”

Given the fracture is a small one and the IPL takes place after the four Tests in India, Mumbai Indians fans can breathe easy knowing Green should be fit and ready to go for the tournament.

The all-rounder became the second-most expensive player in the history of the competition after the five-time champions picked him up for a whopping 17.25cr (approx. US$2.1 million).

HEA vs THU Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: BBL 2022/23 Match 19

HEA vs THU Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: BBL 2022/23 Match 19 | BH vs ST Dream11 Prediction Today | Carrara Pitch Report

T20 cricket can be a funny game. On December 16, Sydney Thunder were bowled out for a record-low 15. 11 days later, they won by ten wickets with 50 balls to spare.

Given how quickly things can change, Brisbane Heat will be hoping for a reverse in fortunes themselves as they were on the end of the Thunder hammering less than 48 hours ago. After the excellent win against Strikers last week, the Heat put in their worst performance of the season, with their batting and bowling failing miserably in a poor defeat.

As a result, the Heat sit bottom while the Thunder have the opportunity to move into the top five. The Heat will be looking to hit good lengths consistently in the powerplay after they were all over the place two nights ago, with the Thunder middle order still rife with questions. From a Thunder perspective, a similar performance – and NRR boost – will work nicely.

Match Details:

  • Location: Carrara Oval (Metricon Stadium) Gold Coast.
  • Time: 5:05pm (local), 12:35pm (IST).

BBL 2022/23 Match 19: HEA vs THU Possible Playing XIs

Thunder have not officially named their squad at the time of writing. They may stick with the same XI that thrashed Heat on Tuesday.

Since the start of September, Rilee Rossouw has scored 276 runs at an average of 69.00 and strike rate of 178.84 when batting first in T20s. When batting second, he has scored just 35 runs in six innings.

Sydney Thunder: 1. Matthew Gilkes (wk), 2. Alex Hales, 3. Rilee Rossouw, 4. Oliver Davies, 5. Alex Ross, 6. Daniel Sams, 7. Nathan McAndrew, 8. Chris Green (c), 9. Gurinder Sandhu, 10. Brendan Doggett, 11. Usman Qadir

Heat have confirmed their squad. James Bazley is back and could slot into the XI.

Brisbane Heat: 1. Max Bryant, 2. Colin Munro, 3. Matt Renshaw, 4. Sam Billings, 5. Jimmy Peirson (c & wk), 6. Ross Whiteley, 7. Michael Neser, 8. Xavier Bartlett/James Bazley, 9. Mark Steketee, 10. Matthew Kuhnemann, 11. Mitchell Swepson

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

Brisbane Heat:

  • Colin Munro is key to the Heat’s hopes. He struggled for fluency two nights ago (43 off 47 balls), in line with his career record vs Thunder: 6 inns, 201 runs, avg. 40.29, SR 111.67.
  • Sam Billings hit 79 off 48 two games ago before he was dismissed cheaply for 1 against Thunder. In 21 balls faced on this ground, Billings has scored 29 runs without dismissal.
  • Jimmy Peirson averages 29.43 in 12 innings vs Thunder. But, the captain has historically struggled at Carrara Oval with just 56 runs in six innings at an average of 9.33.
  • Heat will be well served to bring James Bazley back. The seamer has taken five wickets in two innings on this ground at a strike rate of 8.40.
  • Against Thunder, however, Bazley has taken just the one wicket in three matches at an average of 82.00 and economy of 10.25.

  • Gilkes has scored 14 off 10 vs Neser and 16 off 13 vs Steketee, both without dismissal.
  • Alex Hales was at his dominant best on Tuesday night. He thumped 59* off 36 balls, which was his second-straight half-century in BBL 12.
  • Hales career record vs Brisbane Heat: 8 inns, 175 runs, avg. 29.17, SR 149.57.
  • Oliver Davies has struck scores of 33* and 42 in his last two knocks.

  • Chris Green was a candidate for man of the match with his 2/14 on Tuesday. He dismissed Max Bryant and Matt Renshaw inside six overs, part of 11 wickets in 12 matches vs Heat at an average of 24.73 and economy of 6.97.
  • Usman Qadir bowled beautifully on his BBL 12 debut vs Heat (1/19). Expect the legspinner to find turn once again on the Carrara surface.

  • This will be the first meeting between the teams on this ground.

  • Gurinder Sandhu has taken five wickets in three matches at Carrara (SR 10.80).
  • In his last seven BBL innings, Xavier Bartlett has scored 157 runs at an average of 78.50 and strike rate of 129.75.
  • Max Bryant averages just 14.13 in nine innings vs Thunder and 19.29 in seven innings at Carrara Oval.

Carrara Oval Metricon Stadium Gold Coast Pitch Report and Weather

Scoring big on this ground has proven difficult in recent matches. In three BBL matches last season, the average first innings score was 138.67 (run rate 7.17). The chasing team won two of the three matches.

It was a similar scenario in the T20 between Australia and West Indies in October. Australia crawled to the target of 146 with one ball to spare on a pitch offering some assistance to the seamers and spinners.

There is a chance of a late shower in the Gold Coast tonight, but conditions should be clear for the match. The maximum temperature is 28 degrees.

SIX vs REN Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: BBL 2022/23 Match 18

SIX vs REN Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: BBL 2022/23 Match 18 | SS vs MR Dream11 Prediction Today | SCG Pitch Report

BBL 12 is beginning to take shape. The top sides are beginning to pull away from other challengers. Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Renegades do battle in the quest to move up the table and further confirm their status as one of the better teams in this competition.

Sixers, after a shaky start, are aiming for three straight wins. The most pleasing aspect of their victory against Stars on Boxing Day was Moises Henriques’ return to form. However, there remains some inconsistency at the top of the order, so today is a chance to discover some touch.

Renegades, after three wins of their own, lost in incredible fashion to the Hurricanes on Christmas Eve. Chasing just 123 for victory, some of the old Renegades habits came to the fore, losing their first three wickets inside three overs to hand the advantage. If they do the same here, it will be just as hard to fight back given the Sixers’ well-rounded attack.

BBL 2022/23 Match 18: SIX vs REN Possible Playing XIs

Sixers have named an unchanged squad. They may stick to the same XI that beat Stars, unless they choose to bring in Naveed-ul-Haq and Todd Murphy. Also, Steve O’Keefe is in some doubt as he tweaked his hamstring in the last match.

There is the option of playing Ben Dwarshuis. The left-arm seamer has taken 19 wickets in 11 matches against Renegades at an average of 16.79 and economy of 7.88.

Sydney Sixers: 1. Josh Philippe (wk), 2. Kurtis Patterson, 3. James Vince, 4. Moises Henriques (c), 5. Jordan Silk, 6. Dan Christian, 7. Hayden Kerr, 8. Sean Abbott, 9. Steve O’Keefe/Todd Murphy, 10. Jackson Bird/Ben Dwarshuis, 11. Izharulhaq Naveed/Naveed-ul-Haq

Andre Russell is no longer available in BBL 12. But, the Renegades welcome back plenty of experience, with Martin Guptill, Shaun Marsh, Peter Handscomb and Kane Richardson all in the matchday squad. Sam Harper, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Jack Prestwidge have been omitted.

Melbourne Renegades: 1. Martin Guptill, 2. Nic Maddinson (c), 3. Shaun Marsh, 4. Aaron Finch, 5. Peter Handscomb (wk), 6. Jono Wells, 7. Akeal Hosein, 8. Will Sutherland, 9. Tom Rogers/David Moody, 10. Kane Richardson, 11. Mujeeb Ur Rahman

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

Sydney Sixers:

  • Josh Philippe often enjoys batting against the Renegades. In eight innings, he has smashed 329 runs at an average of 41.13 and strike rate of 145.58.
  • Philippe has scored 52 runs off 44 deliveries against Kane Richardson, without dismissal. He has also never been dismissed by Mujeeb Ur Rahman (25 off 20 balls).
  • Moises Henriques, who scored 52* (32) in his last match, has the second-most runs in SIX-REN matches. His 326 runs come at an average of 29.64 and strike rate of 127.34.
  • James Vince has struck nine 30+ scores in 20 innings at the SCG. He will be seeking to improve his record against the Renegades: 6 inns, 127 runs, avg. 21.17, SR 127.00.
  • Hayden Kerr enjoys playing at the SCG. He has hit 155 runs (avg. 38.75, SR 151.96) and taken ten wickets (avg. 17.50, SR 13.80) on this ground.
  • Sean Abbott has dismissed Aaron Finch thrice in 42 balls, conceding just 43 in the process. Overall against Renegades, Abbott has taken ten wickets in eight innings at an average of 21.20 and economy of 7.85.
  • Abbott at the SCG: 41 inns, 64 wickets, avg. 18.31, SR 12.94.

Melbourne Renegades:

  • Aaron Finch has the most runs in SIX-REN matches. He has hit 382 runs at an average of 34.73 and strike rate of 134.51.
  • Nic Maddinson is the Renegades’ leading run-scorer this season (128). However, since his 87 in the first match, he has scored just 41 runs in three games.
  • Maddinson has the second-most runs at the SCG, with 710 in 26 matches at an average of 29.58 and strike rate of 137.60.
  • Shaun Marsh vs Sixers since the start of 2020: 4 inns, 159 runs, avg. 39.75, SR 111.19.

  • Richardson has a good record against James Vince: 23 balls, 25 runs, two dismissals.

Other Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 16, Sixers 10, Renegades 5, N/R 1.
  • Sixers lead Renegades 3-2 in matches at the SCG.
  • Henriques has the most runs of any player at the SCG: 47 inns, 920 runs, avg. 26.29, SR 131.05.
  • Jordan Silk vs Kane Richardson: 45 balls faced, 78 runs scored, two dismissals.
  • Josh Philippe vs Akeal Hosein could be a good battle. In franchise T20, Philippe has scored 164 runs off 100 balls against left-arm orthodox, with five dismissals.
  • Peter Handscomb has scored two half-centuries in four T20s at the SCG.

SCG Pitch Report and Weather

The Sixers-Stars match two days ago was played on a new pitch that was on the slower side. Still, batsmen were able to get in as just eight wickets fell in the match in total, with six of them coming inside the first ten overs.

Spinners and cutters into the wicket could work well today on a square that has had quite a bit of traffic on it since the T20 World Cup.

It is another warm and sunny day in Sydney today with a top of 29 degrees. There is no chance of rain.

THU vs HEA Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: BBL 2022/23 Match 17

THU vs HEA Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: BBL 2022/23 Match 17 | ST vs BH Dream11 Prediction Today | Sydney Showground Pitch Report

The last time Sydney Thunder played on this ground, they set a world record. Unfortunately, it was a record for the lowest score ever in men’s T20s, finishing with a scarcely believable 15 all-out on an embarrassing night.

The Thunder have lost a further two matches since to sit bottom of the league. It is a long season, but the men in green cannot afford to slip further behind as the likes of the Sixers and Hurricanes are beginning to find some of their best touch. Runs up top will be key, as will a team effort with the ball after Fazalhaq Farooqi’s contract was torn up due to behavioural issues.

So, an opportunity awaits for Brisbane Heat. They broke an eight-game losing streak dating back to last season after a stirring win over the Strikers on December 23, and they will be looking to follow that effort up with another here. Sam Billings will play his former team, while the likes of Michael Neser and Mark Steketee are capable of ripping a fragile Thunder lineup to shreds.

BBL 2022/23 Match 17: THU vs HEA Possible Playing XIs

Thunder are yet to officially name their squad. They may play Ben Cutting as Fazalhaq’s replacement.

Sydney Thunder: 1. Alex Hales, 2. Matthew Gilkes (wk), 3. Rilee Rossouw, 4. Oliver Davies, 5. Alex Ross, 6. Daniel Sams, 7. Ben Cutting, 8. Nathan McAndrew, 9. Chris Green (c), 10. Gurinder Sandhu, 11. Brendan Doggett

Heat are also yet to officially name their squad. They could stick with the same XI that beat Strikers.

Brisbane Heat: 1. Max Bryant, 2. Colin Munro, 3. Matt Renshaw, 4. Sam Billings, 5. Jimmy Peirson (c & wk), 6. Ross Whiteley, 7. Michael Neser, 8. James Bazley, 9. Mark Steketee, 10. Matthew Kuhnemann, 11. Mitchell Swepson

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

Sydney Thunder:

  • Alex Hales found form in the last match with a 50-ball 68 vs Strikers. He will be looking to improve on his poor record vs Heat: 7 inns, 116 runs, avg. 19.33, SR 143.21.
  • At Sydney Showground, Hales has scored 164 runs in eight matches at an average of 23.43 and strike rate of 156.19.
  • Since the start of September, Rilee Rossouw has scored 276 runs at an average of 69.00 and strike rate of 178.84 when batting first in T20s. When batting second, he has scored just 35 runs in six innings.
  • Oliver Davies has struck scores of 33* and 42 in his last two knocks.
  • Daniel Sams has taken 12 wickets in seven matches vs Heat at an average of 17.67 and economy of 9.49. Also, he has the most wickets on this ground: 15 inns, 28 wickets, avg. 13.46, SR 10.64.
  • Sams has dismissed Max Bryant once in 17 balls (20 runs), Munro once in 21 balls (38 runs), Renshaw once in nine balls (five runs).
  • Gurinder Sandhu has taken eight wickets in six matches for Thunder against Heat (avg. 18.13, econ. 7.63). Sandhu strikes every 21.67 deliveries on this ground.

Brisbane Heat:

  • Sam Billings returns to his former home ground. He didn’t enjoy much success on this ground, with just 61 runs in four innings at an average of 15.25. But, he is a class player and is coming off 79 (48) in the last match.
  • Colin Munro vs Sydney Thunder: 5 inns, 158 runs, avg. 39.50, SR 118.80.
  • Mark Steketee has dismissed Alex Hales twice in 14 balls in the BBL, conceding just nine runs in the process. The seamer comes into this match with seven wickets in three matches so far in this tournament.
  • Steketee vs Thunder: 9 inns, 12 wickets, avg. 21.50, econ. 7.82.
  • Michael Neser is in excellent form, and will be keen to target a Thunder lineup that has struggled against seam this season. The pacer has taken six wickets in BBL 12 at an average of 9.16, including a hat-trick.
  • In 11 career matches vs Thunder, Neser has taken 12 wickets at an economy of just 6.43.

Other Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 16, Thunder 5, Heat 10, N/R 1.
  • Brisbane Heat have won all three matches at Sydney Showground Stadium.
  • Alex Ross vs Heat since December 2019: 6 inns, 146 runs, avg. 36.50, SR 128.07.
  • Daniel Sams has a batting strike rate of 203.08 vs Heat (132 runs, avg. 22.00).
  • Max Bryant averages just 16.00 in eight T20s vs Thunder since January 2019.
  • Jimmy Peirson vs Thunder: 11 inns, 179 runs, avg. 29.83, SR 124.31.

Sydney Showground Stadium Pitch Report and Weather

The last game on this ground saw the seamers run riot. Wes Agar took 4/6 and Henry Thornton 5/3 as they dismantled the Thunder in 5.5 overs.

It will be unwise to expect anything similar in this game, but the bowlers often have a say here. However, batsmen did enjoy batting on this ground in last year’s BBL, with an average first innings score of 171.5 at a run rate of 9.02. Also, the team batting first won three of the four matches.

A warm and clear evening is forecast in Sydney.
