RCB vs RR Preview Dream11. Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Rajasthan Royals Preview Dream11 Prediction
Two teams who have been in do-or-die mode for a couple of weeks now. One side is about to take its last breath, and the other is doing enough to keep hopes alive of a miraculous playoffs appearance.
Not even the philosophical, faithful Royal Challengers Bangalore fans can realistically believe they can make the playoffs. Despite four wins out of five before their defeat to DC, it has been another underwhelming canpaign for Virat Kohli’s men. It was another season of hope for RCB, but it hasn’t materialised. However, they can now be of nuisance value to their opponents. Will they end RR’s season?
Rajasthan Royals made a late run to the playoffs last season. They are attempting to do it again, and even though SRH’s net run rate boosting win over KXIP yesterday is a blow, Steve Smith’s men are still in with a chance. Their first win this season was over RCB, and they will be out to ensure their win over SRH last game isn’t their last.
Key to an RCB win
RCB’s death bowling made for grim viewing once again. Their poor last four overs vs DC was ultimately the difference between winning and losing. Here, they need a polished performance at all stages of the innings, with RR’s top order in good form – Ajinkya Rahane, Liam Livingstone, Sanju Samson and Steve Smith are all playing well. So, Umesh Yadav will be key in the powerplay, Washington Sundar and Yuzvendra Chahal up until the middle overs, and Navdeep Saini and even Marcus Stoinis at the death.
Also, can Virat Kohli play a big innings? He has had three low scores in a row – something so rare for the India and RCB captain. He and in-form Parthiv Patel can provide a quick start that pushes RR back, and remind them of their pace bowling worries from earlier in the season. If RCB do the right thing and bat Marcus Stoinis at four, RCB have a top four – including AB de Villiers – that can set up a huge total.
RCB vs RR Preview Dream11 – It wasn’t a good death period for RCB vs DC.
Key to a RR win
RR bowled nicely as a unit in their last-start win over SRH. The much-maligned Jaydev Unadkat picked up man-of-the-match, but the challenge for he and RR is to back up their effort well. Conditions at the Chinnaswamy are different to Jaipur, which puts onus on Varun Aaron and Oshane Thomas in particular to be as accurate as possible with their pace. Shreyas Gopal has a superb record vs RCB, so he can keep things tight in the middle overs, especially if RR make a strong start. Can RR get the better of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers?
Also, there was much to like about RR’s top four against SRH. Ajinkya Rahane and Liam Livingstone began with a strong opening partnership, and if they can replicate what DC did a couple of days ago vs RCB, it sets things up nicely for Sanju Samson, Steve Smith, Ashton Turner and Riyan Parag to play off the back of. Samson in particular has fond memories of the Chinnaswamy, belting 92* off 45 balls there last year. Against an RCB attack that continues to have its struggles, a big opportunity awaits RR.
RCB vs RR Preview Dream11 – Will Steve Smith lead his team to victory?
Possible Playing 11
RCB: 1. Virat Kohli (c), 2. Parthiv Patel (wk), 3. AB de Villiers, 4. Heinrich Klaasen/Shimron Hetmyer, 5. Shivam Dube, 6. Marcus Stoinis, 7. Gurkeerat Singh, 8. Washington Sundar, .9 Umesh Yadav, 10. Yuzvendra Chahal, 11. Navdeep Saini
RR: 1. Ajinkya Rahane, 2. Liam Livingstone, 3. Sanju Samson (wk), 4. Steve Smith (c), 5. Ashton Turner, 6. Riyan Parag, 7. Stuart Binny, 8. Shreyas Gopal, 9. Jaydev Unadkat, 10. Varun Aaron, 11. Oshane Thomas
This will be Steve Smith’s last match for RR this season. It will be his 50th match as captain in T20s.
Yuzvendra Chahal is two wickets away from 100 in IPL.
Virat Kohli currently has 49 wins as an IPL captain.
Match Prediction
Huge game for RR as they look to keep their season alive.
It is hard to predict which RCB side will turn up in this game. Will they perform really well now that the pressure is gone? Or will RR continue their good run?
The 12th season of the Big Bash League (BBL) has provided some cracking matches. This edition is now home to five of the top seven totals in the history of the competition, with half of the tournament still remaining.
Highest scores in BBL history
Adelaide Strikers pulled off a remarkable chase of 230 at home against Hobart Hurricanes. That effort is the highest successful run chase in 12 seasons of the BBL, surpassing the 223 by the Hurricanes themselves against Melbourne Renegades back in 2017.
But, where does the Strikers effort rank among the top totals? Here is a list of the top five highest totals in BBL history.
5. Sydney Thunder 228/6 vs Hobart Hurricanes, December 31, 2022
In the same season where Sydney Thunder were rolled for 15, they ammassed 228/6 against the Hobart Hurricanes on New Year’s Eve, 2022. Oliver Davies starred with 65 off 32 balls, while Alex Hales also fired with 77 off 45 balls.
4. Hobart Hurricanes 229/4 vs Adelaide Strikers, January 5, 2023
On paper, the Hurricanes have one of the best batting lineups in the 2022/23 season. Having made the decision to drop the out-of-form D’Arcy Short, Caleb Jewell, Ben McDermott and new recruit Zak Crawley all made half centuries to get to a total that is almost always a winning one.
4. Perth Scorchers 229/7 vs Melbourne Stars, December 23, 2022
Same season, another record score. Perth Scorchers belted 229/7 at Junction Oval, with Josh Inglis giving no Christmas gifts to the Stars’ bowlers. The keeper-batsman hammered 74 off 33 balls along with Faf du Plessis’ exhilarating 68 off 33.
3. Adelaide Strikers 230/3 vs Hobart Hurricanes, January 5, 2023
A night that will be remembered for years to come. Adelaide Strikers, coming off four straight defeats, chased 230 set by the Hurricanes. Matt Short further underlined his Australian credentials with a magnificent 100* off 59 balls, with his partnerships with Chris Lynn (64 off 29) and Adam Hose (38 off 22) crucial to the result.
2. Sydney Thunder 232/5 vs Sydney Sixers, January 22, 2021
Alex Hales belted 110 off 56 balls in a superb show of hitting. Callum Ferguson (43 off 23) and Ben Cutting (33 off 14) hit six sixes between them, but the night belonged to the talented England opener.
Sixers finished with a respectable 186 in reply, and were still soundly beaten by 46 runs.
1. Melbourne Stars 273/2 vs Hobart Hurricanes, January 29, 2022
A score that may not be beaten for a while. Led by 154* off 64 balls by Glenn Maxwell, the Stars ammassed a franchise T20 record score of 273 against a helpless Hurricanes attack where no bowler conceded less than ten an over.
Out of all scores in T20s, the Stars’ 273 is only behind 278 set by both Afghanistan (against Ireland) and Czech Republic (against Turkey).
STA vs SIX Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: BBL 2022/23 Match 31 | SS vs MS Dream11 Prediction Today | MCG Pitch Report
It’s go time for the struggling Melbourne Stars. After a morale-boosting win in Adelaide on New Year’s Eve, they came crashing back down to earth with a heavy defeat to crosstown rivals Melbourne Renegades. In fact, they were travelling quite well in that game until Adam Zampa’s run out attempt fired Tom Rogers into his best form.
The Stars sit bottom of the league and it doesn’t get easier with Sydney Sixers in town. The men in magenta are almost always towards the top, and they have the chance to move to first place with victory here.
Earlier this season, the Sixers were too good for the Stars, chasing down the target of 151 with five balls to spare. Moises Henriques played his best knock of the season that night, so anything similar here will work nicely in a game they start as favourites in.
BBL 2022/23 Match 31: STA vs SIX Possible Playing XIs
Stars have named an unchanged squad for this match. It will be interesting to see whether they make any positional changes in a batting order that needs a boost.
Melbourne Stars: 1. Joe Clarke (wk), 2. Tom Rogers, 3. Beau Webster, 4. Marcus Stoinis, 5. Hilton Cartwright, 6. Nick Larkin, 7. Campbell Kellaway, 8. Nathan Coulter-Nile, 9. Luke Wood, 10. Trent Boult, 11. Adam Zampa (c)
Sixers have also named their squad. They could stick with the same XI that took the field in the game against Brisbane Heat that was eventually washed out.
Sydney Sixers: 1. Josh Philippe (wk), 2. James Vince, 3. Daniel Hughes, 4. Moises Henriques (c), 5. Jordan Silk, 6. Dan Christian, 7. Hayden Kerr, 8. Ben Dwarshuis, 9. Sean Abbott, 10. Chris Jordan, 11. Steve O’Keefe
Key Players to Watch/Key Stats
Melbourne Stars:
Joe Clarke is key to the Stars’ hopes. He has hit a century at the MCG so far this season, and will be looking to bounce back after a golden duck in the last match.
Clarke made a start against the Sixers earlier in BBL 12 (27 off 22 balls).
Marcus Stoinis, who smashed 74 off 35 balls two games ago, has a score of 147 against Sixers at the MCG. He has a wonderful record against Chris Jordan in T20s (98 runs off 40 balls, no dismissal), so if Stoinis makes the death overs, watch out.
Beau Webster played beautifully against Sixers earlier this season. He struck 78 off 51 balls and took 1/24.
Hilton Cartwright vs Sydney Sixers since January 2020: 7 inns, 185 runs, avg. 37.00, SR 142.31.
Adam Zampa has taken 13 wickets in ten matches vs Sixers at an average of 20.31 and economy of 6.95. Also, he has the most wickets of any bowler at the MCG (45).
Luke Wood is the Stars’ leading wicket-taker in BBL 12. The left-armer has taken 13 wickets in seven matches, with seven of those scalps coming between overs 17 and 20.
Sydney Sixers:
Moises Henriques was player of the match against Stars earlier this season. The Sixers captain struck an unbeaten 52* off 32 balls.
Overall against Stars, Henrieuqes has hit 455 runs in 18 innings at an average of 30.33 and strike rate of 149.18.
Josh Philippe has similar averages against Stars (32.40) and at the MCG (32.20). He is the Sixers’ second-highest run-scorer against Stars with 324.
Jordan Silk has been dismissed just five times in 13 innings against Stars. Overall, he has hit 301 runs at an average of 60.20 and strike rate of 114.89.
Also, Silk enjoys batting at the MCG. In seven innings, he has hit four 30+ scores with a total of 235 runs at an average of 78.33 and strike rate of 125.67.
Hayden Kerr has taken at least one wicket in each of his last seven innings. This includes 2/26 vs Stars, where he dismissed Nick Larkin and Beau Webster.
Ben Dwarshuis has conceded 66 off 38 balls against Marcus Stoinis. However, he has dismissed him four times. If they meet, it promises to be an interesting battle.
The MCG pitch spun plenty a few nights ago. So, watch out for Steve O’Keefe who was outstanding at the small North Sydney Oval vs Brisbane Heat (3/26).
The left-arm spinner has taken 17 wickets in 15 matches against Stars at an average of 18.59 and economy of just 5.96. He has dismissed Joe Clarke twice in nine balls, conceding just three runs in the process.
Other Stats and Facts
Head-to-head: 19, Stars 7, Sixers 12.
Sixers lead Stars 5-4 at the MCG.
Trent Boult will be key against Josh Philippe. Since the start of 2021, Philippe has been dismissed 17 times for 160 runs in 145 balls against left-arm seam in T20s.
Steve O’Keefe in T20s at MCG: 9 inns, 6 wickets, avg. 31.17, econ. 6.03.
Ben Dwarshuis has the most wickets in Stars-Sixers matches (18) at an average of 22.72 and economy of 8.55.
Sean Abbott has taken 15 wickets in 11 matches at the MCG (SR 15.20). He also has 14 wickets in 12 matches vs Stars (avg. 22.93).
James Vince averages 23.22 in ten matches against Stars. Also, he averages just 19.38 in eight T20s at the MCG.
MCG Pitch Report and Weather
On January 3, the MCG surface offered assistance for the bowlers, including seam and plenty of turn. Seamer Tom Rogers took 5/16, while spinners Mujeeb Ur Rahman (2/7), Akeal Hosein (0/21) and Adam Zampa (1/18) were tough to get away with the ball spinning.
It remains to be seen if the pitch offers similar help. Given the weather has been warm and clear in Melbourne lately, there is a chance that it could be the case again.

Cricket News: Most centuries for Australia in Test cricket | List of most hundreds for Australia in Tests
Steve Smith has joined elite company. Australia, who have played Test cricket since 1887, have had four players notch up 30 Test hundreds. In the 2022 SCG Test against South Africa, Smith became the fourth, notching the milestone in just his 162nd innings.
Most centuries by an Australian in Tests
Here is a list of the top five most centuries by an Australian player in Tests.
5. Sir Donald Bradman, 29 hundreds
The greatest batsman to have ever played. Sir Donald Bradman struck an incredible 29 centuries in just 52 Tests at the famous average of 99.94.
Since his retirement in 1948, no player has come close to matching his average. The next highest among players with at least 1,000 runs is Adam Voges with 61.87. Among players to have scored more than Bradman’s 6,996 runs, Steve Smith’s 60.89 is next best.
4. Matthew Hayden, 30 hundreds
Matthew Hayden, Australia’s great opener, finished his 103-match career with 30 tons. Along with his attacking approach, his conversion rate was one of the key features of a gilttering career, hitting 30 tons out of 59 50+ scores.
3. Steve Smith, 32 hundreds
Australia’s prolific number four has an insatiable hunger for runs. By driving Anderson through the covers at Lord’s, Smith reached his 32nd hundred in just his 99th Test at an average in excess of 60.
2. Steve Waugh, 32 hundreds
One of the all-time greats. Waugh was a trailblaizer when it came to averaging 50+ in Test cricket, doing so throughout the 1990s which was a tough era for batting.
Perhaps his most impressive feat was his record against West Indies, who boasted greats including Curtly Ambrose and Courtney Walsh. He finished with 2,192 runs at an average of 49.82 against the men from the Caribbean.
1. Ricky Ponting, 41 hundreds
Ricky Ponting, who has the second-most Test runs in history (13,378), is the current holder of the most tons by an Australian. The last of his 41 centuries was a memorable 221 against India at the Adelaide Oval in 2012, one of eight tons against them.
He also hit eight against England and South Africa, which is the most he scored against any team.
Cricket News: Cricket Australia broadcast deal 2024-2030: Details, value | Value of Cricket Australia 2024 broadcast deal
The legal battle between Cricket Australia (CA) and Channel Seven will finally end with CA securing a seven-year deal that will reduce the Big Bash League (BBL) to a 43-game season.
The $AUS1.512 billion broadcast deal is expected to ensure that the BBL rounds off within the school holidays and will hence bring about greater availability of both Australian and overseas players for international outings.
The new agreement is also a major achievement for the outgoing executives including chair Lachlan Henderson as it guarantees that Australian cricket will continue to sail in safe waters from a financial perspective for the foreseeable future.
Cricket Australia & Seven committed to the game’s future – Lewis Martin
“There’s no doubt our relationship has been tested and there’s nothing left unsaid I can assure you. We’ve had our issues with Cricket Australia and we’ve reset. They were challenging times, no doubt about it. One of the key things that kept us constant was that we were united in both the love and for the ambition to grow the game. That was critical and that’s why we are all standing here today,” Lewis Martin, Seven’s head of network sport, was quoted in a report by ESPNcricinfo.
As per the new deal, the white-ball matches of Australian men’s team will remain behind a paywall on Foxtel and Kayo. The Tests, along with all of Australian women’s team’s games, will be broadcast on Seven and Foxtel. A large chunk of the BBL along with the Tests will also be streamed on Kayo Sports and 7plus.
“We are delighted to be continuing our broadcast partnership with the Foxtel Group and Seven under an improved deal. The quality and reach of the Foxtel Group and Seven’s cricket production is first class and the outstanding service they provide cricket fans was a strong consideration in our decision to continue with this successful partnership,” Hockley was quoted by the aforementioned website.
Foxtel and Seven battled competition from the likes of Channel 10 owner Paramount and ex-cricket broadcaster Nine to sign on CA’s dotted lines.
STR vs HUR Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: BBL 2022/23 Match 30 | AS vs HH Dream11 Prediction Today | Adelaide Pitch Report
It’s Adelaide Strikers vs Hobart Hurricanes take two. On January 2, the Hurricanes produced their most efficient batting performance of the season to date as they made light work of the Strikers’ 177. However, the key question now is whether Hobart can find consistency in what has been a win-loss pattern so far in BBL 12.
On the other side, the Strikers, who started the season with three wins, have lost four straight matches. At the time of writing, they sit in fifth with the Hurricanes behind them on net run rate, so this game has quite a level of importance at the halfway mark of the competition. The Strikers have not played too badly, but they have lost key moments which have come back to haunt them.
So, which way will this match go? Will the Hurricanes enjoy another great start to their batting innings or can the Strikers attack make inroads? Or will Chris Lynn be the star as he continues his love affair with the Hurricanes? It promises to be a cracking match, and here’s hoping it is.
BBL 2022/23 Match 30: STR vs HUR Possible Playing XIs
Peter Siddle was holding his lower back a few nights ago and will miss two games. Matt Short is set to captain the team.
Also, Jake Weatherald is back in the squad, in place of Henry Hunt. Henry Thornton, who missed the last game due to rest, could return.
Adelaide Strikers: 1. Matt Short (c), 2. Jake Weatherald, 3. Chris Lynn, 4. Adam Hose, 5. Colin de Grandhomme, 6. Thomas Kelly, 7. Rashid Khan, 8. Harry Nielsen (wk), 9. Wes Agar, 10. Henry Thornton, 11. Harry Conway
Zak Crawley has been named in the Hurricanes squad. However, who he comes in for will be interesting as Caleb Jewell played beautifully against Strikers a few nights ago.
Shadab Khan has returned to Pakistan for national duty, and will return to Australia later in BBL 12.
Will captaincy bring out the best in Matt Short? He has scored 253 runs in eight innings against Hurricanes at an average of 36.14 and strike rate of 152.41, including a very promising 26-ball 38 a few nights ago.
Chris Lynn is the top run-scorer in BBL 12 (260). This includes 87 vs Hurricanes, part of 542 runs against them at an average of 54.20 and strike rate of 151.40.
Adam Hose in BBL 12: 7 inns, 159 runs, avg. 31.80, SR 137.06. He was bowled by Paddy Dooley on January 2, so that matchup will be interesting here.
Rashid Khan doesn’t have the best of records against Hurricanes. His ten wickets cost 35.60 apiece with an economy of 8.28. His best matchup looks to be Ben McDermott, with total figures of 3/61 off 53 balls against him.
Henry Thornton is likely to return. He has taken a wicket in every BBL game in his career so far (14 games, 30 wickets), with 15 of them coming in six matches at Adelaide Oval.
Hobart Hurricanes:
Ben McDermott returned to form with a 33-ball 53 against Strikers a few nights ago. He has struck 351 runs overall at an average of 39.00 and strike rate of 148.73 against Adelaide.
Matthew Wade missed out in the last game (9), but still has fine numbers against Strikers. In ten innings, he has struck 350 runs at an average of 50.00 and strike rate of 167.46.
Wade was dismissed by Rashid Khan for the first time a few nights ago. Overall, he has scored 58 runs in 39 balls against the legspinner.
Since December 2020, Tim David has hammered 127 runs at an average of 42.33 and strike rate of 171.62 against Adelaide. This includes a 13-ball 27* on January 2.
D’Arcy Short averages 54.42 against Strikers (653 runs) and 55.40 at the Adelaide Oval (277 runs). However, he seems short of confidence and fluency, with a strike rate of just 115.47 this season, which is similar to BBL 11 (113.26).
Nathan Ellis has taken six wickets in his last two matches. His role at the death means he is a chance of taking wickets in the late overs. In fact, four of those last six scalps came between overs 17-20.
Paddy Dooley and Riley Meredith each have ten wickets in BBL 12. Both have gone wicketless just once so far.
Hurricanes (178/3) chased down Strikers’ 177 with 16 balls to spare on January 2.
Wes Agar has taken 31 wickets in 23 matches at Adelaide Oval (SR 15.26).
Colin de Grandhomme has hit a double figure score in each of his last six matches, including three 30+ scores.
Jake Weatherald vs Hobart Hurricanes: 13 inns, 424 runs, avg. 38.55, SR 134.60.
Zak Crawley is coming off a successful Test tour of Pakistan where he struck a century and half-century.
Adelaide Oval Pitch Report and Weather
Expect another nice batting pitch at the Adelaide Oval. In three matches so far in BBL 12, the average first innings score is 173.33, with the team batting first winning twice when registering a score above 180.
A clear and warm day is forecast in Adelaide, with a top of about 26 degrees.

SCO vs THU Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: BBL 2022/23 Match 29 | PS vs ST Dream11 Prediction Today | Perth Pitch Report
A mouthwatering clash awaits us on this Wednesday. At the time of writing, Perth Scorchers and Sydney Thunder sit as the top two teams in the league, with the Thunder in particular enjoying a terrific turnaround.
After the doom and gloom of 15 all-out, the men in green have gone on to make scores of 174/6, 150/5, 124/0 (11.4 overs), 182/6 and 228/6. Oliver Davies has struck gold, with his 32-ball 65 making for the perfect end to 2022 while offering plenty of hope for the Thunder in 2023.
But, they face arguably the toughest test in the BBL – an away trip to Perth. The Scorchers attack, led by the superb Jhye Richardson, have been terrific in BBL 12, and they will be after another victory to consolidate top spot. Interestingly, Thunder lead 8-7 in the head-to-head, but the Scorchers have won five of seven matches in Perth.

SIX vs HEA Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: BBL 2022/23 Match 28 | SS vs BH Dream11 Prediction Today | North Sydney Oval Pitch Report
After 433 runs, a sensational 62 off 23 in a second BBL game, that catch and endless drama on New Year’s Day, Sydney Sixers and Brisbane Heat are back at it. We could be in for another run-fest at North Sydney Oval with short boundaries and often a terrific batting pitch.
One can only hope the weather is kind. Rain is forecast in Sydney on Wednesday evening, creating doubts as to whether we will see a full match here. If we do, expect fireworks between two sides containing players who love hitting sixes.
In the context of the season, the Heat need to win. They are at the bottom of the table, and are in need of consistency as the season reaches its halfway point. For the Sixers, the aim will be to keep pace with the top two teams in the race for the playoffs.
BBL 2022/23 Match 28: SIX vs HEA Possible Playing XIs
Chris Jordan and Steve O’Keefe are back in the Sixers squad.
Sydney Sixers: 1. Josh Philippe (wk), 2. James Vince, 3. Daniel Hughes, 4. Moises Henriques (c), 5. Jordan Silk, 6. Dan Christian, 7. Hayden Kerr, 8. Chris Jordan, 9. Sean Abbott, 10. Steve O’Keefe/Izharulhaq Naveed, 11. Jackson Bird/Ben Dwarshuis
Heat have also named their squad. They may stick to the same XI.
Brisbane Heat: 1. Colin Munro, 2. Josh Brown, 3. Nathan McSweeney, 4. Sam Billings, 5. Jimmy Peirson (c & wk), 6. James Bazley, 7. Ross Whiteley, 8. Michael Neser, 9. Mark Steketee, 10. Matthew Kuhnemann, 11. Mitchell Swepson
Key Players to Watch/Key Stats
Sydney Sixers:
Daniel Hughes has the most runs in Heat-Sixers matches (316) at an average of 28.73 and strike rate of 123.92.
Hughes has scored 52 runs off 35 balls against Neser without dismissal.
Josh Philippe was looking in dangerous form against Heat a few nights ago (27 off 13 balls). The score was close to his overall average against Heat (28.50), with 171 runs in eight knocks.
Jordan Silk is the Sixers’ leading run-scorer this season. The right-hander has struck 182 runs at an average of 36.40, including a brilliant 23-ball 41 against Heat.
Since the start of 2020, Silk has scored 280 runs at a strike rate of 150.5 between overs 17 and 20. He is dangerous in this period if he can get there.
Sean Abbott was expensive (1/46) in the New Year’s Day clash, but he often performs well against the Heat. He has 25 wickets in ten matches against them (avg. 11.76, econ. 7.91).
Hayden Kerr has taken ten wickets in his last six matches. He is almost always a factor with the bat too, and is coming off a 15-ball 27 in the New Year’s Day clash.
Brisbane Heat:
If Josh Brown gets going, watch out. He smashed a memorable 62 off 23 balls against the Sixers a few nights ago after two centuries recently in Queensland Premier cricket.
Brown hit 10 off three balls against Sean Abbott (one dismissal), 16 off six against Ben Dwarshuis, 12 off five against Jackson Bird and 18 off five against Hayden Kerr.
Nathan McSweeney hit 84 off 51 balls in the same game. He is having a good season to date, with 306 runs in the Sheffield Shield at an average of 43.71.
Sixers need to dismiss Colin Munro early. He is the Heat’s leading run-scorer this season (195), which includes 98 vs Thunder a few games ago.
Michael Neser has taken ten wickets in five matches in BBL 12 (SR 11.4).
Neser has dismissed Josh Philippe four times in 30 balls in the BBL. Philippe has scored 51 runs, so it promises to be an interesting matchup.
Mark Steketee was expensive a few nights ago (2/51), but he is a wicket-taker. The seamer has taken ten wickets in eight matches vs Sixers at an average of 22.40 and economy of 8.62.
Expect the Heat to bowl Steketee to Dan Hughes. He has dismissed the left-hander four times in 47 balls, conceding just 45.
Other Stats and Facts
Head-to-head: Matches 17, Sixers 13, Heat 4.
James Vince vs Brisbane Heat: 6 inns, 200 runs, avg. 33.33, SR 145.99.
Steve O’Keefe vs Brisbane Heat: 9 inns, 7 wickets, avg. 27.71, econ. 5.71.
In all T20s since the start of 2021, Chris Jordan has taken 42 wickets in 103.1 overs at the death. He concedes 9.75 per over, which is an economy rate the Sixers will welcome on a small ground.
Matt Kuhnemann will be key in limiting the runs on the fast-scoring North Sydney Oval. He took 2/31 on New Year’s Day, where he dismissed Moises Henriques and Hayden Kerr.
North Sydney Oval Pitch Report and Weather
Nice batting wicket. Very small boundaries. That is the summary of North Sydney Oval, which should see runs flow if the batsmen get in.
This will be the first ever men’s BBL match on this ground. In the WBBL in November, the average first innings score was 161.38, with the team batting first winning five of the eight games.

Cricket News: Video: Adam Zampa attempts to run out non-striker Tom Rogers, sparks debate | Adam Zampa mankad video
Another BBL 12 game, another hot talking point. An attempted run out of the non-striker, formerly known as the mankad, has made an appearance at the MCG in the match between Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades.
Stars captain Adam Zampa, bowling the final over of the first innings, attempted to run out non-striker Tom Rogers. The move sparked loud boos from the crowd, with a few choice words aimed at Zampa from Renegades batsmen Rogers and Mackenzie Harvey.
After the incident was referred upstairs, the third umpire ruled not out as Zampa’s bowling arm went past the vertical. To inflict a run out of the non-striker, the bowler must execute it before they get through their action.
Controversy at the G with Zampa running out Rogers for backing up too far. Rogers is eventually declared not out as he had completed his action. There are quite a few boos for Zampa even from the Stars fans and some words exchanged between Rogers and Zampa.#BBLpic.twitter.com/01CvfUMjfn
As is always the case, opinion was split on social media regarding Adam Zampa’s run out attempt. Some fans believe it is not in the spirit of the game, while others say he was perfectly within his rights to try execute the dismissal.
Arguments for Zampa’s attempt
Full support to Zampa, keep doing it brother, next time you will get it right.
The law around Zampa going past vertical there kinda defeats the purpose of what we’re trying to do, no? Rogers was still out his crease too early. Isn’t that what we’re trying to stop?
Commentators have a professional obligation to remove the taboo around ‘run out at the non-striker’s end’. While it’s not the brief, a part of broadcaster’s job is to educate and spread awareness. They have the opportunity to change narratives for the future. #BBL#Zampa
Well done Zampa??? every bowler in every league, level and match should be doing this around the globe. It will stop the batsman cheating on every delivery. Or let the bowler release from where the batsman has moved to.
Zampa getting booed by a predominately Stars crowd on more than one occasion, which probably shows how universally popular the Mankad is as a mode of dismissal #BBL12
Zampa would have been better off warning the batsman than doing what he did , it’s a very bad look on Zampas part . Even in test cricket Stark warned the RSA batsmen twice
This follows an eventful few days in BBL 12. Michael Neser’s catch against Sydney Sixers on New Year’s Day sparked a huge debate on social media. A day before, the Strikers believed Marcus Stoinis should have been timed out before his game-turning 74 off 35 balls at the Adelaide Oval.
Cricket News: Not much time for experimentation in T20Is – Hardik Pandya | Hardik Pandya backs young guns to express themselves
India skipper Hardik Pandya is backing his young guns to unabashedly express themselves in the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. Standing in as the captain in the absence of Rohit Sharma, Pandya reflected on the team’s approach in the build-up to last year’s T20 World Cup in Australia.
The team management’s widespread focus is set to shift to the ODI World Cup in India in 2023. However, the next T20 World Cup, which will be played in the Caribbean and the United States of America (USA), is only a year-and-a-half away from now.
Moreover, India will play only six T20Is prior to the commencement of this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL). Post that, the team will embark on a series of ODIs and the attention will shift back to T20Is only towards the end of 2023 or later. Pandya acknowledged these circumstances and asserted that there isn’t enough time to experiment with the team setup and their approach.
Looking to play a certain way in T20Is, which we will – Hardik Pandya
“You see, I think before the [T20] World Cup, I don’t think we did anything wrong. Our template, approach, everything was the same. Yes, in the World Cup, things did not go how we wanted. And I think our approach was not the same – what it was before the World Cup. What we have noticed and told the boys is that just go out there and express [yourself], which they will do. And it’s up to us that how we back them,” the 29-year-old was quoted in a report by ESPNcricinfo.
He added, “Obviously, the plans are set. We are looking to play in a certain way, which we will. Before IPL only six games are there, so we don’t have much time to do a lot of things but going forward we will keep creating new plans and see which are the plans which are working for us. And going forward just make sure everyone gets ample opportunities and just that on the right time when needed just see what we need to do.”
India will square off against Dasun Shanaka’s Sri Lankan side for three T20Is on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at Mumbai, Pune and Rajkot respectively. The Indian side, led by Pandya with Suryakumar Yadav being his deputy, has numerous fresh faces in it amidst the absence of senior stars like Rohit, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul amongst others.
Pacers Shivam Mavi and Mukesh Kumar, along with the likes of Rahul Tripathi and Shubman Gill can look forward to getting a look-in the T20I side in this series.

Each year comes and goes, but Paytm and Mastercard trophies are here to stay. Another India–Sri Lankawhite-ball series is set to get underway, with questions around the home side’s T20I combinations in particular.
2022 was another what if year for India, producing good results throughout the 12 months but crumbling when it mattered most. The approach in bilaterals was certainly more attacking than it was in the T20 World Cup, and with the squad they have picked here, we can expect some fireworks.
So the question for Sri Lanka will be how to keep the hosts in check. 11 months ago, they were blanked 3-0 in the T20I series in India, but won the crucial Asia Cup encounter in September. Can they produce that kind of result here or will India continue their bilateral dominance over the Lions?
Hardik Pandya will lead India. Suryakumar Yadav is the vice-captain. According to SportsBash, Ruturaj Gaikwad will open alongside Ishan Kishan, with Shubman Gill to bat at three.
Openers Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad are in fine form. Ishan smashed 200* in a recent ODI against Bangladesh, and Gaikwad hammered 660 runs in five innings including four hundreds in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Kishan doesn’t have the best of numbers at the Wankhede: 16 inns, 339 runs, avg. 21.19, SR 136.14.
Suryakumar Yadav had a dream 2022. He was the only player to hit 1,000+ T20I runs. Not only that, he scored those runs at an average of 46.56 and strike rate of 187.43.
Surya has the fourth-most T20 runs at the Wankede. He has struck 909 runs in 34 innings at an average of 32.06 and impressive strike rate of 140.06.
Hardik Pandya also has plenty of experience at the Wankhede. In 41 innings, the India captain has hit 889 runs at an average of 34.19 and strike rate of 134.29. He also has 35 wickets.
Arsheep Singh is coming off a superb 2022. He took 31 wickets in 20 T20I innings at an average of 18.48 and economy of 8.28.
Arshdeep was particularly brilliant in the powerplay. He took 14 wickets in this phase at a strike rate of 15.4 and economy of 7.61.
Yuzvendra Chahal has the most wickets in IND-SL T20Is. He has taken 20 wickets in ten matches at an average of 15.65 and economy of 8.24.
Sri Lanka:
Pathum Nissanka has scored two half-centuries in four T20I knocks against India.
Kusal Mendis has scored 825 T20I runs as opener at an average of 31.73 and strike rate of 142.73. In all other positions, he has scored 234 runs at an average of 11.14.
Dhananjaya de Silva has struck 146 runs in five innings against India. He averages 48.67 with a strike rate of 129.20.
Dasun Shanaka has solid all-round numbers against the men in blue. In 17 innings with the bat, he has struck 306 runs, including 74* (38) and 33* (18) in the last two matches. He also has taken 12 wickets in 11 innings.
Wanindu Hasaranga is key to Sri Lanka’s hopes. The legspinner has picked up 29 wickets in 18 innings in India, along with ten wickets in six matches vs India at an average of 16.30 and economy of 6.79.
Dilshan Madushanka took 3/24 against India in the 2022 Asia Cup.
Other Stats and Facts
Head-to-head: Matches 26, India 17, Sri Lanka 8, N/R 1.
India have won their past ten home T20Is against Sri Lanka.
Wanindu Hasaranga vs Suryakumar Yadav in all T20s: 24 balls, 40 runs, one dismissal.

Chasing teams have won 24 of the 41 T20s at the Wankhede since the start of 2021. In this period, the run rate is a high 8.67, with the Wankhede surfaces among the best batting pitches in the country.
