ENG vs SA 3rd ODI Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report

ENG vs SA 3rd ODI Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report | ENG vs SA 3rd ODI Dream11 Prediction Today | Headingley Pitch Report

No more Ben Stokes, step up Sam Curran. The all-rounder produced another excellent display, this time when England needed it as they were in trouble once again in a tough month of white-ball cricket. They were bowled out for the fifth consecutive ODI – an area they must address – but Curran’s contribution down the order got his team into a position where they could think of winning.

Then, when you thought England’s batting was a worry, South Africa’s was worse. The Proteas were out of the contest when they plunged to the depths of 6/4, and the visitors will be seeking the kind of performance they put together in the opening ODI of the series.

Indeed, in a season where the batsmen have found the going tough in ODIs, the top order that sets the best platform might emerge with the series trophy. England, usually reliable in this format, are not in the best batting form. South Africa, coming off an 83-all out, have some bouncing back to do.

ENG vs SA 3rd ODI Possible Playing 11

England: 1. Jason Roy, 2. Jonny Bairstow, 3. Phil Salt, 4. Joe Root, 5. Jos Buttler (c & wk), 6. Liam Livingstone, 7. Moeen Ali, 8. Sam Curran, 9. David Willey, 10. Adil Rashid, 11. Reece Topley

South Africa: 1. Quinton de Kock (wk), 2. Janneman Malan, 3. Rassie van der Dussen, 4. Aiden Markram, 5. Heinrich Klaasen, 6. David Miller, 7. Dwaine Pretorius, 8. Keshav Maharaj (c), 9. Anrich Nortje, 10. Lungi Ngidi, 11. Tabraiz Shamsi

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

England:

  • Jonny Bairstow, who pledged his desire to play all three formats, will be looking to build on some decent form in this series. He is England’s leading run-scorer with 91 so far.
  • Bairstow has scored 154 runs in five ODIs on this ground at an average of 30.80. Can he improve on this?
  • Joe Root has been off colour in ODIs this season, even though he scored a classy 86 in the first ODI vs SA. But, this could be the day where he delivers as he has scored two centuries and two fifties in six ODIs at Headingley (421 runs, avg. 84.20).
  • Moeen Ali in ODIs at Headingley: 6 inns, 168 runs, avg. 56.00, SR 110.52.
  • Sam Curran is coming off a brilliant all-round display in the second ODI. He smashed 35 (18) and dismissed David Miller.
  • Reece Topley made inroads into India’s lineup recently, and then the Proteas in his comeback game. He has now taken ten wickets in his last three ODIs.
  • Adil Rashid has taken the equal-most wickets of any player in ODIs at Headingley. The legspinner has 12 wickets to his name in six matches at an average of 27.25 and strike rate of 28.9.

South Africa:

  • Quinton de Kock is the player who can take the game away from England in quick time. He still averages a brilliant 57.07 in 14 ODIs against England, with three fifties and three centuries.
  • Rassie van der Dussen was strangled down the legside in the second ODI after a masterful 134* in the opening match.
  • Since the start of 2021, van der Dussen has struck 792 runs in 16 ODIs at an average of 72.00. This year alone, he has hit two centuries and two fifties in eight knocks.
  • Aiden Markram was out without facing a ball in the second match. He played beautifully in the first ODI (77), and the Proteas will be hoping for more of the same.
  • Dwaine Pretorius is always improving as a white-ball bowler and that was on show in the last ODI. He finished with 4/36, and had 3/9 at one point courtesy of his excellent variations.
  • Anrich Nortje conceded 10.25 an over in the last match. However, his wicket-taking ability is clear to see. The pacer has the most wickets of any bowler in this series to date (6).

Other Stats and Facts

  • South Africa have not won an ODI series in England since 1998.
  • Heinrich Klaasen was South Africa’s top scorer in the second ODI (33).
  • David Miller vs England in ODIs: 6 inns, 243 runs, avg. 121.50, SR 126.56.
  • Jason Roy averages just 21.00 in 14 ODIs vs SA and 17.00 in three ODIs at Headingley.
  • Tabraiz Shamsi has taken two wickets in each match so far in this series.

Headingley Leeds Pitch Report and Weather

The weather could play a role once again as rain is forecast at Headingley. There is the possibility of another shortened match.

The last ODI on this ground was in the 2019 World Cup, where India chased Sri Lanka’s 264 with 39 balls to spare. Expect a good, true surface which is often the case at Headingley.

ENG vs SA 3rd ODI Match Prediction: Who will win?

In a shortened match, anything is possible. While South Africa collapsed badly in the second ODI, there is a sense of tiredness about England’s players. For that reason, South Africa look good for a win.

Jonny Bairstow will aim to play all three formats

Cricket News: Jonny Bairstow will aim to play all three formats | Jonny Bairstow says he’ll try play all formats

Jonny Bairstow has assured that he will continue to play all three formats of international cricket following Ben Stokes’ retirement from One Day Internationals (ODIs). English Test skipper Stokes hung his boots from 50-overs cricket as he expressed his inability to cope with the tightly-packed cricketing schedule.

Accordingly, Bairstow is now the only English player likely to feature in every format of the game. He has already played four Tests, two ODI series’ and is set to feature in the T20Is against South Africa this summer.

Bairstow has been in an imperious run of form recently with his Test career getting reinvigorated under the tutelage of Brendon McCullum.

“I don’t know if it’s good or bad that I’m one of the last all-format players,” the wicketkeeper-batsman was quoted in a report by ESPNCricinfo. The 32-year-old reflected on the closely-knit fixtures with several international matches overlapping with each other. There was an instance last month when England was playing New Zealand in a Test series at home whilst the ODI team contested in a three-match ODI series in the Netherlands.

I’ll play all formats as long as I can – Bairstow

“But you know me well enough now: I’ll be trying to play all of them for as long as possible. I’ll be going all out for as long as I can. There might come a time when you do have to make a decision for different reasons, but that’s part and parcel of life and cricket, but in the near future I can’t see me making a choice because I’m loving being part of all three squads,” Bairstow opened up on the issue.

He added, “They’re all individual squads and they’re great to be a part of. It’s exciting. You go into a new one and you’ve got a freshness and new faces and energy around them, because you’re going into a new format.”

Bairstow has already featured in eight Tests and five ODIs in 2022. In addition to that, he played a significant part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Punjab Kings this year.

The Yorkshire player will also turn up for the Welsh Fire for their first three games of the Hundred. Later on, he will be expected to don a crucial role for England in their World T20 campaign Down Under later on this year. Bairstow lamented upon the lack of training days prior to games. He even expressed discontentment over the players’ inability to do anything regarding the scheduling.

“The schedule is the schedule. It’s difficult to say if you want to play less but Stokesy (Ben Stokes) has a point in some ways about the overlapping games that there are. There used to be lead-ins to series and training days before games, but there are back-to-back games coming up now,” he was quoted in the aforementioned report.

Stokes had drawn an analogy of the authorities’ treating players like cars whilst speaking of the back-to-back set of games that England is slated to play. Bairstow concurred with that comparison and conceded that playing each game with full intensity might make the players devoid of the same going ahead.

Other overseas stars set to take a part in the draft include the likes of Kieron Pollard, Rashid Khan, Dwayne Bravo, Faf du Plessis, Colin Munro A total of 170 players are believed to have put their name in for this exercise that is aimed to reinvigorate the BBL.

However, only 28 of those names have been publicised so far, Daily Telegraph reports. The BBL 12 draft will be held on 28th August and it will be broadcast live on Fox Sports.

The Melbourne Renegades are set to get the first pick in the overseas players draft after being drawn first in the league’s weighted lottery process.

Pakistan players in the BBL: Azam and Rizwan – Bona fide T20 stars

Azam and Rizwan have emerged as certified T20 stars with their incredible performances in the shortest format of the international game for Pakistan in recent years. They are the top-two placed batsmen in ICC Men’s T20 Rankings respectively and were integral in Pakistan’s impressive run to the semi-finals in the World T20 last year.

Azam notched 939 runs, including nine half-centuries and a century, at an average and strike rate of 37.56 and 127.58 respectively in 29 T20Is in 2021. In the same calendar year, Rizwan scored 1326 runs at an average of 73.67 in 29 T20Is. BBL-12 will commence from 13th December, 2022 and the final will be played on 4th February, 2023. Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Stars will face each other in the opening game of the season at the Manuka Oval.

ENG vs SA 2nd ODI Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report | ENG vs SA 2nd ODI Dream11 Prediction Today | England vs South Africa 2nd ODI Key Players | Manchester Pitch Report

England will play South Africa at Old Trafford for the second One Day International (ODI) of their ongoing three-match series on Friday. The Proteas presented a phenomenal batting performance in the first ODI to take a crucial 1-0 lead in the series, as England lost their fifth white-ball match out of seven this month.

The English team might have to ring in some changes, particularly following the retirement of Test skipper Ben Stokes. Jos Buttler will be eager to give a right balance to the side with England eyeing to retain the ODI World Cup title in India next year.

ENG vs SA 2nd ODI Possible Playing 11

England:

Lancashire batsman Phil Salt can replace Ben Stokes in the batting-order. Otherwise, Buttler’s men will walk out with a largely similar playing XI in this game.

1: Jason Roy, 2: Jonny Bairstow, 3: Joe Root, 4: Phil Salt, 5: Jos Buttler (c & wk), 6: Liam Livingstone, 7: Moeen Ali, 8: Sam Curran, 9: Adil Rashid, 10: Brydon Carse, 11: Matthew Potts.

South Africa:

South Africa will miss the services of Andile Phelukwayo for the rest of this ODI series. The all-rounder suffered a concussion after colliding with Keshav Maharaj in the opening game and hence a key change should be expected in that number seven slot in the XI.

1: Quinton de Kock (wk), 2: Janneman Malan, 3: Rassie van der Dussen, 4: Aiden Markram, 5: Heinrich Klaasen, 6: David Miller, 7: Dwaine Pretorius, 8: Keshav Maharaj (c), 9: Anrich Nortje, 10: Lungi Ngidi, 11: Tabraiz Shamsi

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

England:

  • Jason Roy has a partly average and strike rate of 19 and 112.71 respectively across seven ODIs in Old Trafford. South African pacers will be looking to get him out of the way early on in the innings.
  • Joe Root has struck two centuries and three half-centuries at an incredible average and strike rate of 52.31 and 89.36 respectively in 13 ODIs against the Proteas.
  • Jos Buttler has a remarkable average and strike rate of 88.50 and 134.60 respectively in seven ODIs in 2022. However, he has a relatively inferior record against South Africa in 50-overs cricket. Buttler averages 32.50 against them, which is his second-lowest amongst all Test-playing nations.
  • Moeen Ali’s batting average and strike rate has improved considerably to 35 and 82.35 respectively in seven ODIs in 2022. He will have to assume additional batting responsibilities in the absence of Stokes in the XI.
  • The Proteas have seen off Adil Rashid relatively well so far. The leg-spinner has picked merely 11 wickets in 12 ODIs against them. He has leaked runs at an economy rate of 5.81 and has a bowling average and strike rate of 46.64 and 48.18 respectively vs South Africa.

South Africa:

  • The visitors will be relying on Quinton de Kock to give them a buoyant start to the innings. The southpaw has scored three centuries and half-centuries apiece against England in 13 ODIs. The wicketkeeper-batsman averages 61.42 at a strike rate of 96.09 vs Buttler’s men.
  • Rassie van der Dussen hit 134 runs in the first ODI. He will be hoping to continue this rich vein of form, especially given his remarkable record against England. The 33-year-old has an average of 75.67 at a strike rate of 98.27 in five ODIs vs the Englishmen.
  • David Miller has scored 469 runs across 13 innings at an average of 67 in ODIs since the beginning of 2020. The southpaw provided a fine finishing flourish in the first game as well. He will hold the key in the middle-order in this series particularly.
  • Keshav Maharaj has fared reasonably well in the three ODIs that he has featured in England. The off-spinner has taken five wickets at a bowling average and strike rate of 27.80 and 31.40 in these games.
  • Tabraiz Shamsi’s skillsets seem to cause some troubles to the English batsmen as well. The left-arm leg-spinner has taken six wickets at an impressive bowling average and strike rate of 24.83 and 29 respectively in four ODIs against England.

Other Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-Head: Played 64, South Africa 31, England 28, Tied 1, NR 4
  • Average 1st innings score in ODIs at Old Trafford: 228
  • The recent encounters between the two sides have been evenly-poised. South Africa and England have won four and five of their last 10 ODIs. One game ended with no result.
  • England has won 16 of the 27 ODIs that they have played against South Africa at home. The Proteas have won only nine matches, having a success rate of 33 per cent in these games.
  • England and South Africa last played an ODI at Old Trafford way back in 2003. Overall, they have played three 50-over matches in this stadium with the Proteas winning two of those games.

Old Trafford Cricket Ground Manchester Pitch Report and Weather

The average first innings score (228) in this stadium indicates that it might not be a belter of a track for the batsmen. The spinners will be expected to play an integral role and one can look forward to a possibly exciting sub-par total encounter this time around.

Showers are expected throughout the duration of the game at Old Trafford with the temperature hovering around 16°C-17°C mark.

ENG vs SA 2nd ODI Match Prediction: Who will win?

One can never rule England out from making a comeback. However, the recent series defeat vs India coupled with the crushing loss in the opening game has certainly cast a doubt over their form and credentials to a certain extent. CricBlog expects South Africa to seal another win in the second ODI.

WI vs IND 1st ODI Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report

WI vs IND 1st ODI Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report | IND vs WI 1st ODI Dream11 Prediction Today | West Indies vs India 1st ODI Key Players | Port of Spain Pitch Report

Less than a week after West Indies and India finished their last ODI campaigns against different opponents, they meet in the first of three matches at Port of Spain. Relevancy, always a key topic in ODI cricket, will be a key discussion point once again as this series is not part of the Super League but was squeezed into the calendar anyway; the kind of scheduling that Ben Stokes spoke out about after he retired from the format.

In terms of this series, India, even without a number of regulars, are odds-on favourites to win. The Windies have been diabolical in ODI cricket, losing 11 of their 15 matches this year including a 2-1 loss at home to Ireland and a thumping 3-0 defeat at the hands of Bangladesh just last week. Worse, they have batted first 12 times since the beginning of last year, and only played out their full 50 overs on three occasions. If they can’t bat out their 50 overs here, chances are India won’t even need to bat given a win will look guaranteed.

For India, it is an opportunity for a number of players to impress. The likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shreyas Iyer are high on the watchlist given the spotlight has been shining on them in recent times. Also, the bowling attack, after an excellent display in England, will be looking to make inroads into a Windies’ batting lineup that struggled badly against Bangladesh.

WI vs IND 1st ODI Possible Playing 11

Keemo Paul missed the last ODI against Bangladesh due to a hamstring injury. With Jason Holder back in the ODI setup, the Windies might give Paul more recovery time.

West Indies: 1. Shai Hope (wk), 2. Brandon King, 3. Shamarh Brooks, 4. Kyle Mayers, 5. Nicholas Pooran (c), 6. Rovman Powell, 7. Jason Holder, 8. Akeal Hosein, 9. Alzarri Joseph, 10. Gudakesh Motie, 11. Jayden Seales

According to CricBuzz, Ravindra Jadeja could be rested from this ODI series to manage a knee injury. So, Deepak Hooda could slot in at seven if India decide to play both Gaikwad and Kishan.

India: 1. Shikhar Dhawan (c), 2. Ruturaj Gaikwad, 3. Shreyas Iyer, 4. Ishan Kishan, 5. Suryakumar Yadav, 6. Sanju Samson (wk), 7. Deepak Hooda/Axar Patel/Ravindra Jadeja, 8. Shardul Thakur, 9. Prasidh Krishna, 10. Yuzvendra Chahal, 11. Mohammed Siraj/Arshdeep Singh

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

West Indies:

  • Shai Hope will be tasked with holding things together for the Windies. He has scored the most runs of any current Windies player against India in ODIs (733) at an average of 45.81.
  • Nicholas Pooran’s 73 in his last match was more than any Windies player scored in the entire series against Bangladesh.
  • Pooran has a strong record against India in ODIs. In nine matches, the Windies’ captain has scored 354 runs at an average of 44.25 and strike rate of 107.59.
  • Jason Holder’s return gives the Windies much-needed batting and bowling depth. He has 450 runs to his name against India in ODIs (avg. 26.47), but will be aiming to improve on his bowling numbers: 24 inns, 23 wickets, avg. 46.08, econ. 5.59.
  • Alzarri Joseph has taken 16 wickets in 10 ODIs agains India (avg. 32.00), including six in three matches earlier this year. Windies could look to use him against Shreyas Iyer to test him with short balls.
  • Akeal Hosein went wicketless in his last two ODIs against Bangladesh. He had not gone wicketless in his previous 17 matches, and is the leading wicket-taker in ODIs this year (22) among players from Full Member nations.

India:

  • Shikhar Dhawan has sub-par numbers in West Indies. The stand-in India captain has scored 348 runs in 13 innings at an average of 26.76.
  • If it’s a pitch with some extra bounce, Shreyas Iyer might have his work cut out. However, he enjoyed success against West Indies earlier in 2022, with a player of the match performance in the third ODI of that series (80 off 111 balls).
  • Also, Shreyas scored two fifties in as many games on this ground in 2019 (136 runs, avg. 68.00).
  • Suryakumar Yadav comes into this series in fine touch. He scored a terrific century in the third T20I against England and looked in good form in the ODIs despite not making a big score (27 and 16).
  • Prasidh Krishna dominated West Indies earlier this year. The pacer took nine wickets in three matches (avg. 7.55) in a performance that helped him land a big IPL deal.
  • West Indies lost 19 wickets to spin in their three ODIs against Bangladesh. So, expect Yuzvendra Chahal to have a say. The legspinner has taken 13 wickets in seven ODIs vs West Indies at an average of 25.00 and strike rate of 29.4.

Other Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 135, West Indies 63, India 67, 2 ties, 4 N/R.
  • West Indies have not beaten India in a bilateral ODI series since May 2006. India have won all 11 series since.
  • Gudakesh Motie took an impressive six wickets in three ODIs vs Bangladesh, including one haul of 4/23.
  • Prasidh Krishna and Yuzvendra Chahal have both taken 14 wickets in ODIs this year. This is the most for India.
  • India have won eight of their last matches at Queen’s Park Oval.

Queen’s Park Oval Port of Spain Pitch Report and Weather

West Indies have called for better pitches in this series after the surfaces suited spin in their 3-0 defeat to Bangladesh. So, this series could see better batting tracks.

The weather forecast is partly cloudy with a top of 30 degrees. Rain is not expected to play a factor.

EN-W vs SA-W 1st T20 Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report | EN-W vs SA-W 1st T20 Dream11 Prediction Today | Chelmsford Pitch Report

After a clean sweep by England in the ODIs, attention moves to the T20Is as South Africa grow desperate for their first win on tour.

South Africa, who also lost T20 and one-day tour matches against England A, need a lift in spirits in what has been a tough campaign to date. They can now focus on putting in a strong performance in this vital T20I series, as they are hosting the women’s T20 World Cup in early 2023.

For England, the emphasis will be to build on their wonderful ODI showing. Heather Knight’s team scored at an incredible 7.01 runs per over in the three recent ODIs, and will be looking to take it up a notch in these T20Is. Strap in, this should be fun.

EN-W vs SA-W 1st T20 Possible Playing 11

Before the series, Heather Knight said that England will be looking to make use of the powerplay. With Tammy Beaumont not picked in the T20 squad, Sophia Dunkley could open.

England Women: 1. Danielle Wyatt, 2. Sophia Dunkley, 3. Heather Knight (c), 4. Nat Sciver, 5. Amy Jones (wk), 6. Maia Boucher, 7. Katherine Brunt, 8. Sophie Ecclestone, 9. Kate Cross, 10. Sarah Glenn, 11. Issy Wong

South Africa Women: 1. Lara Goodall, 2. Laura Wolvaardt, 3. Marizanne Kapp, 4. Sune Luus (c), 5. Mignon du Preez, 6. Chloe Tyron, 7. Nadine de Klerk, 8. Trisha Chetty (wk), 9. Shabnim Ismail, 10. Ayabonga Khaka, 11. Nonkululeko Mlaba/Masabata Klaas

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

England:

  • Watch out for Sophia Dunkley in this series. She was outstanding in the ODIs, smashing 180 runs at an average of 60.00 and strike rate of 105.88. This includes a fifty and hundred.
  • Heather Knight in T20Is vs South Africa: 9 inns, 157 runs, avg. 31.40, SR 125.60.
  • Nat Sciver scored 50 (41) in England’s last T20I vs South Africa, back in the 2020 World Cup. Also, the all-rounder scored two fifties in as many matches in the ODIs, along with four wickets.

  • Laura Wolvaardt, the world number four in T20Is, will be key for the visitors. The batter struck two consecutive fifties in the ODIs after a terrific World Cup campaign earlier in the year.
  • Marizanne Kapp is also crucial to South Africa’s hopes. She also scored two fifties in the ODIs. Surprisingly, her T20 numbers against England are poor (batting avg. 12.75, bowling average 63.00), but as she showed in her great performance in the Test, she can produce the goods at any moment.
  • Mignon du Preez has the most runs of any current SA squad player against England in T20Is (252). She has scored these runs at an average of 21.00 and a strike rate of 92.65, which she will be aiming to improve on.

India possible playing XI for 1st ODI vs WI

Cricket News: India possible playing XI for 1st ODI vs WI | Possible playing XI for India in ODI vs WI

India will begin their Caribbean tour with the first game of their three-match One Day International (ODI) series at the Queen’s Park Oval on Friday. Shikhar Dhawan will be leading the team in the absence of Rohit Sharma as several experiments are expected in the playing XI.

Most teams are directing their focus on T20Is with the 2022 T20 World Cup fast approaching. However, the ODI World Cup is due to be held in India next year and hence equal focus must be laid on the 50-over format simultaneously. The series provides India an opportunity to test their bench strength against the Nicholas Pooran-led West Indian unit.

India possible playing XI for first ODI vs WI

Cricblog takes a look at the possible Indian playing XI in the first ODI against WI.

1. Shikhar Dhawan (C)

Dhawan averages 32.46 at a strike rate of 87.83 in 28 ODIs vs West Indies, including five half-centuries and a couple of centuries.

However, his record in the Caribbean is rather uninspiring as he has notched 403 runs at only an average of 25.19 in 17 ODIs. The southpaw will have to assume additional responsibility with leadership duties in this series. However, his batting form will be under equal scanner as well.

2. Ruturaj Gaikwad

Cricket News: India possible playing XI for 1st ODI vs WI | Possible playing XI for India in ODI vs WI
India possible playing XI for 1st ODI vs WI: Can Gaikwad display his best IPL form in West Indies?

The team management seems to have substantial trust in Ruturaj Gaikwad and the 25-year-old could very well open the innings with Dhawan in the coming series. Tracks in the Caribbean tend to slow down over the course of an ODI innings and Gaikwad seems to possess the appropriate skillsets to excel in those conditions.

3. Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer has hardly let go off an opportunity in international cricket and he will be eagerly looking to optimise his chances in this series. Iyer has nine half-centuries and a century to his name in 24 ODI innings.

He has an average of 57.67 with a strike rate of 99.71 against the West Indies in ODIs. The 27-year-old has notched five half-centuries in six innings against the Men from Caribbean and will be looking to further this run of form in this series.

India possible playing XI for 1st ODI vs WI: It’s a big series for Shreyas Iyer.

4. Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan is likely to don Rishabh Pant’s role in the middle-order in the latter’s absence. The Mumbai Indians (MI) star hasn’t had much of an opportunity in ODI cricket so far.

However, he averages 36.62 with a strike rate 92.20 in 77 List A innings. He has scored four centuries and 13 half-centuries in his List A career so far and his proficiency against spinners makes him the ideal fit for the middle-order.

5. Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav will be marshalling the middle-order in this setup. He is coming on the back of a remarkable century in the recent third T20I vs England. The 31-year-old will be looking to cement his spot in the playing XI in the run-up to the ODI World Cup next year.

6. Deepak Hooda

Deepak Hooda could be tasked with finishing duties in this particular squad. He averages 38.53 with a strike rate of 93.86 across 76 List A matches. Hooda has donned a variety of roles in recent games for the Indian side but paucity of top-order opportunities might force him down the order at least for this series.

7. Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja will continue to hold the crucial number seven slot in the team. He particularly stars with the ball against the Windies as Jadeja has scalped 41 wickets in 29 ODIs at an average of 29.88 vs them. The all-rounder will have to take up greater batting responsibilities in the presence of a relatively inexperienced line-up as well.

8. Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur adds both batting depth as well as an innate wicket-taking ability in the playing XI. He will be brought into the attack particularly in the middle-overs and India will look to benefit from his incredible ability to provide timely breakthroughs.

9. Prasidh Krishna

Cricket News: India possible playing XI for 1st ODI vs WI | Possible playing XI for India in ODI vs WI
India possible playing XI for 1st ODI vs WI: Prasidh Krishna has had a good year in white-ball cricket.

Prasidh Krishna debuted in style against the West Indies earlier this year and the fast-bowler has picked 20 wickets in 10 ODI matches already. His height will enable him to extract some additional bounce off the Caribbean tracks. Dhawan will surely bank on the Rajasthan Royals (RR) pacer to fetch some dismissals specifically with the new ball.

10. Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal seems to have gotten back to his imperious best ever since the recently-concluded campaign of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The leg-spinner has taken 13 wickets at a bowling average of 25 and 29.46 in seven ODIs against the West Indies. The 31-year-old is likely to cause troubles to the Caribbean batsmen in tandem with Jadeja in the middle-overs.

11. Arshdeep Singh

The management seems to have taken a liking for Arshdeep Singh’s incredible ability to bowl well in the tough overs. He comes in with the tricky left-arm angle as well and has particularly shown calibre to contain the flow of runs in the death overs. One can expect him to be given a fair chance in the next three ODIs at least.

300+ scores in the 4th innings since the start of 2021

Cricket News: 300+ scores in the 4th innings since the start of 2021 | How many 300+ scores have there been in the 4th innings?

An inherent need is being felt across the cricketing community to make Test matches more proactive and result-oriented.

Teams have been gradually undertaking a more proactive approach to keep up with the changing demands of the modern times. Sides are possibly looking at Tests from the lens of the limited-overs cricket.

“Sometimes teams will be better than us, but no one will be braver than us,” England skipper Ben Stokes had said after his team chased down a mammoth 378 runs in the fourth innings vs India at Edgbaston.

List of 300+ scores in 4th innings since start of 2021

Teams are gradually looking at challenging fourth-innings totals from a more positive perspective. On that note, CricBlog takes a look at all the successful 300+ run-chases in Test cricket since the start of 2021.

443/7 by Pakistan vs Australia, Karachi, 2022

Pakistan and Australia battled hard to produce an all-time classic at the National Stadium in Karachi earlier this year. Pat Cummins’ men had dominated the first innings by putting up 556 with the bat and then folding up the home team for merely 148 runs in their first innings. Australia eventually gave Pakistan a target of 506.

However, centuries by Babar Azam (196) and Mohammed Rizwan (104*) ensured that the home side played out 171.4 overs to score 443 runs at the loss of seven wickets. Abdullah Shafique had played an immense role in tiring the Australian bowlers with his tenacious effort of 96 runs off 305 deliveries. The visitors toiled hard but Azam and Rizwan’s defiance saved the day for the home team.

395/7 by West Indies vs Bangladesh, Chattogram, 2021

Kyle Mayers had a debut for the ages as West Indies sealed an incredible victory against Bangladesh at Chattogram in February 2021. The southpaw scored 210* in the fourth innings to help the men from Caribbean chase down 395/7.

Mayers blunted the Bangladeshi bowling unit with some trademark flair and resistance. He notched 20 boundaries and seven sixes in an innings where he took the attack to the opposition whilst batting at a strike rate of 67.74. Nkrumah Bonner played a fine hand with his 86-run knock but Mayers rightly attracted all the spotlight due to his immense temperament of staying at the crease until the end to take his team past the finishing line.

378/3 by England vs India, Edgbaston, 2022

England had the herculean task of getting to their highest-ever fourth-innings total to prevent India from securing their first Test series victory in English shores in 15 years. Buoyed by the exuberance of ‘Bazball’, the duo of Joe Root (142*) and Jonny Bairstow (114*) swept away Indian hopes as they counter-attacked to perfection to win the game for Stokes’ side.

The duo partnered for 52.3 overs to put up 269 runs as they made light work of a seriously skilful Indian bowling unit. Both Root and Bairstow thus extended their run of imperious form as they look set to further the exciting outlook that head coach Brendon McCullum has brought to the English Test setup.

344/6 by Pakistan vs Sri Lanka, Galle, 2022

Cricket News: 300+ scores in the 4th innings since the start of 2021 | How many 300+ scores have there been in the 4th innings?
300+ scores in the 4th innings since the start of 2021: Abdullah Shafique was superb in Galle.

Pakistani opener Abdullah Shafique displayed tremendous character to score an unbeaten 160 runs off 408 deliveries to steer his team to a remarkable Test victory at Galle on Wednesday. The stadium has been notorious for being extremely hostile for teams batting second. A score over 200 had been chased successfully merely once before fantastic feat by the Pakistani team.

Shafique found supportive partners like Azam (55) and Rizwan (40) but it was largely the opener’s solo effort guide his side to an arguably unlikely win. The Lankan bowlers, led by Prabath Jayasuriya’s four-wicket haul, kept pushing hard but were eventually downed by this terrific effort by the 22-year-old’s marathon knock.

334/5 by India vs Australia, Sydney, 2021

In a series characterised by the flamboyance of modern-day cricket, the duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Hanuma Vihari presented the trademark mettle and resilience that has so defined Test matches over the years. Rishabh Pant (97) and Cheteshwar Pujara (77) looked set to take India to the steep target of 397 runs on the final day.

However, India found themselves in a spot of bother after Pujara’s dismissal at 272/5. Ashwin (23*) and Vihari (39*) held the ground for 42.4 overs, dealing with several body blows in the process, to play out a draw that exuded as much excitement as that of a victory for an injury-ridden Indian team.

329/7 by India vs Australia, Gabba, 2021

Pant finished off the job in Brisbane that he couldn’t in Sydney a week before. With 329 to chase and the series on the line, Shubman Gill provided India a sublime start with his 91-run knock. However, it was Pant who scored 89 off 138 deliveries as he almost single-handedly dragged the Indian team to a historic victory at the Gabba.

The win helped India claim a series victory despite suffering with numerous injuries to frontline players. The wicketkeeper-batsman was unfazed by pressure as he took on the Australian bowlers at will throughout the innings. He formed key partnerships with Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and Washington Sundar and helped India cruise to a defining victory against all odds Down Under.

Highest run chases by Pakistan in Tests

Cricket News: Highest run chases in Test cricket by Pakistan | What is Pakistan’s highest successful run chase in Tests?

Pakistan have pulled off their second-highest run chase in history to defeat Sri Lanka in the first Test of their 2022 series in Galle.

Staring down the barrel at 85/7 in response to Sri Lanka’s first innings score of 222, captain Babar Azam led the way with a masterful century on a challenging surface. But, it was 22-year old Abdullah Shafique who took the main headlines, as the opener, playing in just his sixth Test, batted 408 balls to guide his team to a four-wicket win.

Highest run chases in Test cricket by Pakistan

Pakistan’s effort in Galle holds a special place in their history. It is just the third time they have successfully chased over 300 in a Test, and when you consider it was achieved in challenging conditions, it makes the feat all the more remarkable.

Here are the top five run chases in Pakistan in Tests:

1. 382/3 vs Sri Lanka, Pallekele, 2015

Pakistan have created wonderful memories in Sri Lanka. Their highest run chase remains their incredible effort in 2015, where Shan Masood, Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq led Pakistan to a series-winning chase of 377 in Pallekele.

Reduced to 13/2 in the chase, Masood (125) and Younis (171*) put on a mammoth stand of 242 to put the visitors right in the hunt. Misbah-ul-Haq (59*) then combined with Younis to seal an incredible chase by seven wickets.

2. 344/6 vs Sri Lanka, Galle, 2022

The 2022 Galle Test has its similarities to the Pallekele Test of 2015. Sri Lanka made a 200+ score, followed by a similar score by Pakistan. Sri Lanka then made 300+ in the second innings, but it wasn’t enough to seal victory.

What makes this victory special for Pakistan is that never before had a team chased over 300 to win a Test in Galle. In fact, only twice had 100+ been successfully chased before this effort. Abdullah Shafique, take a bow.

3. 302/5 vs Sri Lanka, Sharjah, 2014

Another against Sri Lanka. This victory was simply magnificent in more ways than one.

First, Sri Lanka had ammassed 428/9 in the first innings, keeping Pakistan toiling for 172 overs. Pakistan replied with 341 in 109.1 overs, and time was running out to seal victory as it took 101.4 overs to bowl Sri Lanka out for 214 second time around.

Second, Pakistan needed over 300 in 59 overs on a wearing Sharjah surface to level the series in the third and final Test. It was a challenge they took head on. Azhar Ali, known more for his resolute defensive game, struck a superb 103 off just 137 balls to put Pakistan on the brink. Sarfaraz Ahmed (48 off 46) and Misbah-ul-Haq (68* off 72) were also brilliant as Pakistan sealed the chase with just nine deliveries left. A memorable win indeed.

4. 277/3 vs New Zealand, Wellington, 2003

Another game where Pakistan came from behind to win. After a draw in the first Test of the two-match series in New Zealand in 2003, Pakistan looked gone when they trailed New Zealand by 170 runs in the first innings after getting bowled out for 196.

However, Shoaib Akhtar blew the Black Caps away with 6/30 to roll the home side for just 103 in the second innings. Then, Pakistan were steady all along in their chase, with the classy Mohammad Yousuf (88*) and Inzamam-ul-Haq (72*) putting on an unbeaten 121-run stand to see Pakistan home by seven wickets.

5. 262/9 vs Bangladesh, Multan, 2003

One of the most incredible Tests in history, and one that still cuts deep for Bangladesh. The Tigers, in their third year of Test cricket, were on the brink of their first ever victory after reducing Pakistan to 205/8 in pursuit of 261 in Multan.

However, Inzamam-ul-Haq played one of his greatest knocks (138*) to lead Pakistan to a thrilling one-wicket win. Umar Gul (5 off 50 balls) hung in for 99 minutes as Inzamam got Pakistan to within four of victory. After Gul was dismissed, Yasir Ali got through four balls, allowing the Pakistan captain to hit the winning runs.

IRE vs NZ 2nd T20 Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report | IRE vs NZ 2nd T20 Dream11 Prediction | Ireland vs New Zealand 2nd T20I Key Players | Belfast Pitch Report

New Zealand achieved their most convincing victory of the Ireland tour. The Black Caps, in their first T20I of 2022, put together an efficient display against an Ireland side that was looking to build on their promising showing in the ODIs.

Glenn Phillips led the way in another promising performance in T20 cricket, as New Zealand kept things ticking in their batting effort. Their powerplay batting – streaky at best – is cause for improvement today, but the fact they reached 173/8 is reason for encouragement after 19 off the final over.

For Ireland, the first match felt like a missed opportunity. They had the visitors in trouble at 54/4 only to lose by a convincing 31 runs, so building on the good moments will be key today. In particular, the onus will be on the top four after all were dismissed inside the powerplay.

IRE vs NZ 2nd T20 Possible Playing 11

Ireland: 1. Paul Stirling, 2. Andy Balbirnie (c), 3. Gareth Delaney, 4. Harry Tector, 5. Curtis Campher, 6. Lorcan Tucker (wk), 7. George Dockrell, 8. Mark Adair, 9. Barry McCarthy, 10. Craig Young, 11. Josh Little

New Zealand: 1. Martin Guptill, 2. Finn Allen, 3. Dane Cleaver (wk), 4. Glenn Phillips, 5. Daryl Mitchell, 6. James Neesham, 7. Michael Bracewell, 8. Mitchell Santner (c), 9. Ish Sodhi, 10. Lockie Ferguson, 11. Jacob Duffy

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

Ireland:

  • Paul Stirling averages just 15.87 in eight T20Is on this ground. The experienced opener will be key in giving Ireland a good start.
  • Harry Tector is establishing himself as a crucial player in Ireland’s setup. The youngster is coming off two centuries in the ODIs against New Zealand, and will be aiming to rediscover the form he showed against India in the T20Is last month: 64* and 39.
  • Curtis Campher was Ireland’s top scorer in the opening T20I (29). He looked most assured out of the specialist batsmen. Also, he took a wicket, soon after he took five scalps in the three ODIs against NZ.
  • Josh Little was excellent at the death. He finished with 4/35 in the opening T20I, where he took two wickets in the powerplay and two at the death.
  • Mark Adair kept Ireland in the game with good hitting with the bat, but his bowling will be crucial at the death after he conceded a vital 19 off the final over. He has taken nine wickets in his past five T20s.
  • Craig Young went wicketless two days ago, but he conceded just six per over in his three overs. He has taken an impressive 18 wickets in nine T20Is in 2022.

New Zealand:

  • Glenn Phillips got New Zealand out of trouble and then into a position of strength. His 69* in the first T20I was his second consecutive half century in T20s after a 52 for Gloucs in the Vitality Blast.
  • Martin Guptill looked shaky in the first T20I, with a number of edges in his 24 off 12 balls. He could be better for the run here after notching a century in the recent third ODI.
  • James Neesham is an important cog in this New Zealand team. He put on an important 46-run stand with Phillips, where he scored 29 of them (off 16 balls). The all-rounder than took two wickets.
  • Michael Bracewell was one of the four Black Caps’ batsmen to cross 20 two days ago. He is coming off the series of a lifetime in the ODIs: 127* (82), 40* (47) and 21* (16).
  • Lockie Ferguson is such a threat in this format. His changes of pace were outstanding in the opening T20I, where he finished with 4/14.
  • Mitchell Santner will be key in the middle overs on a surface that may aid spin as it has been warm of late. The NZ skipper took 2/36 two days ago.

Other Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 2, Ireland 0, New Zealand 2.
  • Ireland have lost their past four T20Is (one vs UAE, two vs India, one vs New Zealand).
