5 players CSK should target in the IPL 2022 Auction

Cricket News: 5 players CSK should target in the IPL 2022 Auction | A look at 5 players who CSK could pick up in the IPL 2022 Auction

2020 was an abomination. 2021 saw normal service resume. Chennai Super Kings were back at the summit of the IPL, winning their fourth title thanks to brilliant cricket right throughout both legs of the tournament.

Without a doubt the most impressive part was how the franchise learnt from its mistakes. They were too slow and lethargic in 2020, and completely transformed their playing style in 2021 courtesy of a few key decisions such as the purchase of Moeen Ali.

Ahead of CSK’s quest to equal Mumbai Indians with five IPL titles, it will be interesting to see their strategy in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. They already have a solid core with Ruturaj Gaikwad, Moeen Ali, Ravindra Jadeja and skipper MS Dhoni, and they will have a clear idea of their ideal squad.

CSK IPL 2022 retained players:

  • Ravindra Jadeja
  • MS Dhoni
  • Moeen Ali
  • Ruturaj Gaikwad

Remaining purse: 48cr

5 players CSK should target in the IPL 2022 Auction

1. Ishan Kishan

This would be a magnificent purchase for two key reasons.

One, Ishan Kishan at the top with Ruturaj Gaikwad would be a terrific combination as both would complement each other perfectly. Gaikwad can set up the innings while Kishan can go all guns blazing, highlighted by his strike rate of 155 in 13 innings opening the batting in the IPL.

Second, Kishan will walk into a culture that encourages freedom. It will enable him to perform, with the motivation of a spot in India’s white-ball teams also driving him.

However, this could be a tough one to pull off for CSK given they have just the 48cr left in the purse for 21 players. Faf du Plessis, who was key to CSK’s title last year, is certainly an option.

2. Mitchell Marsh

Cricket News: 5 players CSK should target in the IPL 2022 Auction – Mitchell Marsh

CSK will be looking to nail that number three spot. If they don’t go for Suresh Raina, then Mitchell Marsh, who had a brilliant 2021 in the number three position, could be a wonderful pickup for MS Dhoni’s team.

Marsh played a key role in Australia’s T20 World Cup triumph as well as Perth Scorchers’ recent BBL title. Also, he can fill in with some key overs particularly between 7-15.

If CSK want a domestic option, Shreyas Iyer could be the one. He is a solid top order player in T20 cricket and is a candidate for the captaincy once MS Dhoni eventually retires. Nitish Rana is also a player who can keep the momentum up in the number three slot.

3. Shardul Thakur

India’s hard-hitting bowling all-rounder was outstanding in IPL 2021. Thakur picked up crucial wickets time and time again, playing a key role in CSK’s title-winning season.

With Sam Curran not available as he focuses on his rehabilitation, CSK will be after a lower-order batsman who can hit boundaries and deliver with the ball. Expect CSK to target Shardul Thakur and make a strong play to bring him back into the squad.

Jason Holder would also be a brilliant option as a pace-bowling all-rounder. What a fit he would be for MS Dhoni’s team. However, CSK will surely have a maximum budget they’d be willing to spend on Holder, whereas other teams – with larger purses – could snap up the West Indian all-rounder.

CSK could also look at bringing Dwayne Bravo back. He was excellent in IPL 2021, but how he performs with limited cricket under his belt could be a concern.

4. Mark Wood

The likes of Kagiso Rabada or Trent Boult would be terrific pickups for CSK. However, they could prove to be quite expensive, and given CSK’s lower purse, they need to be as smart as possible with their spending.

Englishman Mark Wood could be a great value-for-money purchase by CSK in the overseas seamer department. He will add great variety to the attack with his pace, and he most likely won’t be as popular in the bidding process as the likes of Rabada, Boult or Lockie Ferguson.

Josh Hazlewood is another overseas option CSK are likely to look at given how brilliant he was in IPL 2021 as well as Australia’s T20 World Cup triumph.

5. Deepak Chahar

The powerplay specialist. Deepak Chahar has played a key role in CSK’s dynasty over the years, and given how well he is batting for India as well, his value is still very much evident.

CSK have been well-run for a number of years, and expect more of the same in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. These five players can form a solid core, with Jadeja and Moeen providing both batting and spin prowess, too.

5 players RCB should target in the IPL 2022 Auction

Cricket News: 5 players RCB should target in the IPL 2022 Auction | A look at 5 players who RCB could pick up in the IPL 2022 Auction

15th time lucky for Royal Challengers Bangalore? The much-decorated franchise, boasting some of the leading T20 players over the years and a passionate fanbase, is yet to win the IPL title.

While they have made three finals, RCB overall have underachieved. Despite improvement over the past two seasons, RCB need a fresh start and the IPL 2022 Mega Auction provides a good opportunity to do that. They have retained three players and will be after a new captain after Virat Kohli stepped down from the role last year.

RCB retained players for IPL 2022:

  • Virat Kohli
  • Glenn Maxwell
  • Mohammed Siraj

Remaining purse: 57cr

Building a solid core is crucial for RCB, as well as better balance in their squad. With 57cr available, RCB need to be smart in picking up value buys.

Over the years, they have often been stronger in the batting department, with their bowling severely compromised. With the tournament likely to be held in the state of Maharashtra (Mumbai and Pune), here are five players (and some backups) RCB should target as priority on what should be good batting surfaces.

5 players RCB should target for IPL 2022:

1. Ishan Kishan

Cricket News: 5 players RCB should target in the IPL 2022 Auction | A look at 5 players who RCB could pick up in the IPL 2022 Auction
Cricket News: 5 players RCB should target in the IPL 2022 Auction – Ishan Kishan

Imagine a top four comprising of Ishan Kishan, Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell. Sure, RCB have had strong top orders right throughout their history, but a strong domestic option at the top will allow them to focus on overseas players in the finishing department with both bat and ball.

Kishan is dynamite in the opening position in the IPL. He has struck 555 runs in 13 innings as opener at an average of 55.50 and superb strike rate of 155.90. Also, he can don the wicket-keeping gloves.

RCB can certainly target David Warner, too. Perhaps even for the captaincy role. However, Kishan is a long-term option and can offer value for RCB for years to come.

2. Liam Livingstone

RCB’s achilles heel over the years has been their finishing. Often they have relied on their top four to do the bulk of the scoring, with a lack of options to follow to either finish well or arrest a collapse.

Liam Livingstone is a strong option. The Englishman has a base price of 1cr, is a middle-order specialist and offers a handy leg-spin bowling option.

RCB can also look to target Jason Holder, who had a superb series against England. However, there is a good chance that he will go for a big fee as a number of other teams are looking for an all-rounder.

There is talk of Shreyas Iyer as a target for RCB, but he and Virat Kohli play similarly. Having two anchors in the top five would be a bit of a risky ploy.

3. Harshal Patel

Cricket News: 5 players RCB should target in the IPL 2022 Auction | A look at 5 players who RCB could pick up in the IPL 2022 Auction
Cricket News: 5 players RCB should target in the IPL 2022 Auction – Harshal Patel

Harshal Patel was outstanding in IPL 2021, taking the most wickets by an Indian bowler in a single season. While we might not see the slow, sluggish pitches of Chennai and Sharjah in 2022, Patel is an excellent option for RCB again given his excellent ability to change the pace.

Also, his partnership with Mohammed Siraj could be a great strength once again. To have a reliable domestic death bowling option will be key for RCB in their quest for glory.

However, expect other teams to go after Harshal. So, it will be interesting to see if RCB get Harshal back. If RCB wish to land another domestic death-bowling option, T Natarajan could be a high-value pickup provided he is fit enough.

4. Kagiso Rabada

RCB should prioritise a gun seam bowler; one who is proven in the death overs. Kagiso Rabada has been one of the star bowlers in recent years, playing a key role in Delhi’s rise.

He strikes every 15 deliveries in the IPL, providing impact in both the powerplay and death overs. Rabada alongside Siraj and potentially Harshal – who are both capable of bowling at the backend of the innings – gives RCB a solid pace bowling core.

If RCB are unable to land Rabada, Trent Boult, Tymal Mills or Lockie Ferguson are also good options. Mills has improved significantly since his last stint with RCB, and he conceded less than seven runs per over in all short-form matches in 2021.

5. Yuzvendra Chahal

Every team needs a high-quality spinner and Yuzvendra Chahal has been magnificent for RCB over the years. He was particularly outstanding in the second leg of IPL 2021 in the UAE, and he still has plenty to offer.

The Mega Auction provides a huge opportunity for RCB to start afresh. Building a solid, balanced team will be key, and it starts with putting together a strong core.

ISL vs MUL Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: PSL 2022 Match 8

ISL vs MUL Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: PSL 2022 Match 8 | ISL vs MUL Dream11 Prediction Today | Islamabad United vs Multan Sultans Key Players | Karachi Pitch Report

Stop the press. A team batting first has finally won a match in PSL 2022, after champions Multan Sultans pulled off an excellent, nail-biting victory over Quetta yesterday.

Sitting in a precariously at just 107 runs after 15 overs batting first, Multan’s batting went into overdrive, bludgeoning 67 off the final five overs courtesy of Shan Masood’s excellent form and Tim David’s powerful hitting. Spinners Khushdil Shah and Imran Tahir were superb on a surface providing turn, but it was David Willey who held his own at the death to seal a six-run win to keep the Sultans unbeaten.

What the match again showed was the Sultans’ depth. A good T20 side is filled with players who can play a role, and both the Sultans and Islamabad United have those traits. United, who finished top last season with eight wins out of 10, started PSL 2022 in the most perfect way possible as Paul Stirling and Alex Hales smashed Pesahwar Zalmi.

After last night’s thriller, we could be in for another with the Sultans’ bowling up against Islamabad’s batting sure to be a riveting contest.

Possible Playing 11

Islamabad United: 1. Alex Hales, 2. Paul Stirling, 3. Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wk), 4. Mubasir Khan, 5. Azam Khan, 6. Asif Ali, 6. Shadab Khan (c), 8. Faheem Ashraf, 9. Mohammad Wasim, 10. Hasan Ali, 11. Marchant de Lange

Imran Khan has conceded 129 in 10.4 overs without taking a wicket so far in PSL 2022. He could be replaced in this match.

Multan Sultans: 1. Shan Masood, 2. Mohammad Rizwan (c & wk), 3. Sohaib Maqsood, 4. Rilee Rossouw, 5. Tim David, 6. Khushdil Shah, 7. David Willey, 8. Imran Khan/Ruman Raees, 9. Shahnawaz Dahani, 10. Imran Tahir, 11. Abbas Afridi

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

Islamabad United:

  • Paul Stirling, who recently was named in the 2021 ODI team of the year, made an excellent start to 2022 in T20s. He smashed a 25-ball 57 last match vs Zalmi in a player of the match performance.
  • Alex Hales was also outstanding (81* off 54 balls). Hales has struck 126 runs in five innings vs Sultans at an average of 31.50 and strike rate of 135.48.
  • Hales at Karachi: 10 inns, 327 runs, avg. 36.33, SR 143.42.
  • If required, Asif Ali will be a key finisher for Islamabad. The middle order batsman was excellent in this area in the T20 World Cup, but he will be aiming to improve on a poor record vs Sultans: 8 inns, 91 runs, avg. 13.00, SR 109.64.
  • Shadab Khan has the most wickets in Islamabad-Multan matches (10 in nine games). He averages 23.40 and concedes 7.55 an over.
  • Hasan Ali, who started PSL 2022 well with a two-fer vs Zalmi, has eight wickets in seven matches vs Sultans (econ. 7.37). Also, the seamer has taken 26 wickets in 20 T20s at Karachi.
  • Mohammad Wasim took 3/29 and 4/31 in the 2021 PSL league stage vs Multan. He has taken seven wickets in three matches at an average of 14.86 vs Sultans, and will be looking to extract some revenge after conceding 0/44 in the PSL 2021 Qualifier.

Multan Sultans:

  • Mohammad Rizwan’s duck against Quetta was quite the shock. Expect the skipper to walk out to the crease motivated and ready to deliver.
  • Rizwan has struck 171 runs in 10 innings vs Islamabad at an average of 34.20 and strike rate of 129.55. This includes a 53-ball 71 on this ground last year.
  • Shan Masood is in brilliant form. The left-hander has slammed 197 runs in three innings so far in PSL 2022 at a brilliant strike rate of 156.34. No player has more runs than Masood so far this season.
  • Masood scored 59 (37) and 25 (22) in his last two innings vs Islamabad United.
  • Sohaib Maqsood played a blinder vs Islamabad in last season’s Qualifier (59 off 41 balls). The right-hander had scored just 28 runs in his previous four knocks vs United, so Sultans will be hoping for an impactful knock today. Surprisingly, Maqsood is striking at just 100 so far this season (71 runs).
  • Khushdil Shah is on fire at the moment. The all-rounder smashed 18 off four balls two games ago to seal victory vs Lahore, before taking a three-wicket haul yesterday vs Quetta.
  • The ageless Imran Tahir continues to produce the goods. Tahir has taken the most wickets so far in PSL 2022 (7), and has taken eight wickets in five matches vs United at an average of 16.75 and economy rate of 7.44.
  • David Willey will be key in the powerplay and death overs. He held his nerve yesterday, taking 3/22 in the end.

Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 9, Islamabad 5, Multan 4.
  • Multan became the first team to win batting first in seven matches in PSL 2022.
  • Faheem Ashraf (2/23) looked good vs Zalmi. The seamer has 10 wickets in nine matches vs Sultans at an economy rate of just 6.92.

National Stadium Karachi Pitch Report and Weather

It is still a pretty nice batting surface at Karachi, but the spinners and seamers who bowl into the wicket are in the game. Expect the chasing team to start as favourites once again, as the team batting second has won 19 of the last 21 PSL matches.

Another clear evening is forecast in Karachi.

4 overseas all-rounders who could land big deals at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction

Cricket News: 4 overseas all-rounders who could land big deals at the IPL Mega Auction | IPL Mega Auction 2022: 4 possible overseas all-rounders

The world’s most luxurious T20 league, the IPL, is fast approaching. We are just days away from the Mega Auction, which is definitely going to be enthralling.

Hundreds of outstanding cricketers will be up for the grabs and it will be super exciting to watch the new shapes the teams take.

As a matter of slight concern, a few big names won’t be available in the auction among which Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes and Sam Curran are going to be huge misses.

Every T20 side loves to have a seam-bowling all-rounder who can score some quick runs and contribute with the ball as well. Moreover, there are very few domestic choices available in this particular category and hence the demand of overseas all-rounders is usually immense in the auction table. Let’s see who could be the front runners in this race.

1. Odean Smith

The dynamic all-rounder from West Indies has impressed everyone with his charismatic hitting down the order and useful exploits with the ball. In the CPL 2021, Smith was the second highest wicket taker with 18 wickets from 11 matches at a very good average of 14.94 and a superb strike rate of 11.83. He also has a tremendous strike rate of 163.3 in his brief T20I career so far. As far as talent is concerned, he definitely looks promising and I believe several IPL teams must be having eyes on him.

2. David Willey

The experienced English all-rounder could probably be the most ideal replacement for Sam Curran. Willey can be very useful with the new ball as he gets appreciable movement in the air. Added to that, he brings the variety in the bowling unit being a left armer.

Also, he is a brilliant hitter of the cricket ball down the order. Statistically, Willey has picked 191 wickets in 196 T20s at an economy of 7.86. His batting average of 23.8 and strike rate of 140.5 suggest that he can be a decent option down the order. He has played two IPL games in his career and it is certainly expected that he might make a return to the league this time.

3. David Wiese

The former South African allrounder currently represents Namibia in international cricket, and he had an excellent 2021 T20 World Cup campaign.

He is aged 36, but his performances have been outstanding for quite a while now. The seasoned campaigner has scored 3105 T20 runs from 274 games at a very good strike rate of 141.8 and has picked 215 wickets at an economy of 7.89.

In the T20 World Cup, Wiese was one of the main reasons behind Namibia’s impressive performance as he scored 227 runs at an average of more than 45 and a strike rate of 127.53, which was decent enough on those slow tracks of UAE. He also picked six wickets at an economy of 7.43.

In his IPL career, Wiese has represented RCB with decent success. It will be interesting to see how he does in the current PSL. If he impresses with his performance in PSL, he certainly can make a comeback into the IPL.

4. Romario Shepherd

Just like Odean Smith, Romario Shepherd is another strong all-rounder from the Caribbean who can smack the ball at will and provide a decent bowling option.

Shepherd has taken 49 wickets in 41 T20s at an average of 20.8. He has also scored 298 runs batting down the order at an average of 27.1 and a terrific strike rate of 161.1. He was the joint second highest wicket taker with Odean Smith in the CPL and had a strike rate of almost 166 in the league. Therefore, he is definitely one of those names the IPL teams can seriously look up to.

These are my four overseas seam bowling allrounders apart from players like Bravo, Holder and Marsh who might get an IPL contract in the IPL mega auction. Have your say!

List of winners in the IPL from 2008-2021

List of winners in the IPL from 2008-2021 | Looking at the Indian Premier League winners from 2008 through to 2021

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is one of the most exciting and loved tournaments around the world. Since its inception in 2008, the IPL has grown at a huge scale, attracting people all over the world. Not only advertisers, but also players and franchises.

The craze and hype for the tournament is so significant that the ICC sometimes postpones their tournaments and programs in view of world’s biggest T20 league.

Below you find history of IPL winners 2008 to 2021. The IPL saw many things since its beginning, from a controversy between BCCI and Subhash Chandra to having number of records registered after its name.

But what is most talked among people is Winners and Runners up of every IPL season. To tell you a whole list, we are here.

List of IPL winners

2008: Rajasthan Royals

The maiden IPL title was won by Rajasthan Royals under the captaincy of Shane Warne. In the Final, they defeated the Chennai Super Kings by three wickets. In the match, RR chased 164 runs, and they won it on the last ball where they needed to score one run.

2009: Deccan Chargers

In 2009, the team most people don’t know today won the IPL title. It was none other than Deccan Chargers, a team highly decorated with players like Rohit Sharma, Kumar Sangakarra and Adam Gilchrist. This powerpacked team beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by seven runs, with the Chargers successfully defending 144.

2010: Chennai Super Kings

CSK began their dynasty in 2010, winning their first IPL title under MS Dhoni. They defeated the Mumbai Indians in the Final.

2011: Chennai Super Kings

The World Cup winning captain MS Dhoni led the defending champions and beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 58 runs to retain the title of such a decorated tournament. This was extra sweet after leading India to the World Cup shortly before.

2012: Kolkata Knight Riders

It was KKR’s turn to prove who will show the real Khela as they beat up CSK in the fifth season of IPL by five wickets. The Gautam Gambhir-led KKR won their maiden IPL title and demolished CSK’s dream to achieve a hattrick of triumphs in 2012.

2013: Mumbai Indians

In 2013, the Mumbai Indians were dominant and ended up winning their first IPL title by taking revenge on CSK. They beat CSK in the finals by 23 runs.

2014: Kolkata Knight Riders

In the seventh season, it was again KKR’s turn to clinch victory and register their name in glory for the second time. They beat Kings XI Punjab (Punjab Kings) by three wickets in the Final.

2015: Mumbai Indians

The alternate winning year started in 2015 for Mumbai as they won their second IPL title under Rohit Sharma. They again beat CSK in the Final by 41 runs; their second-straight victory over CSK in the biggest match of them all.

2016: Sunrisers Hyderabad

Many people thought it would be RCB’s season as they were enjoying a fine season, led by a wonder season from skipper Virat Kohli. But the winning streak was broken by Sunrisers Hyderabad in a South Indian Derby. SRH won the match by eight runs, consigning RCB to their third loss in finals.

2017: Mumbai Indians

Again alternate year for MI. Mumbai ended up beating the Steve Smith-led Rising Pune Supergiants by just a single run. It was the match when Washington Sundar failed to complete three runs. MI registered their name for the third time on the IPL trophy.

2018: Chennai Super Kings

CSK came back with a bang after a two-year ban. They beat SRH by eight wickets to prove who the real kings are, as they clinched the title for third time.

2019: Mumbai Indians

The IPL 2019 Final will be remembered for one of the best matches ever played. Lasith Malinga defended two off the final delivery to seal a thrilling one-run win for MI against rivals CSK.

2020: Mumbai Indians

It was a mad rush to get the IPL going in 2020, so much so that the T20 World Cup was postponed. In the UAE, Mumbai Indians produced a superb tournament and won the title by defeating Delhi Capitals by five wickets in Dubai.

2021: Chennai Super Kings

In 2020, CSK missed the playoffs for the first time. In 2021, they more than made up for it with a superb showing, winning their fourth title in an IPL spread across two legs.

Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings have dominated the IPL, winning the last five titles between them. This year’s mega auction can raise hopes that we will see a new champion. The answer will be seen after the 2022 season. Hoping for great drama and excitement.

QUE vs MUL Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report: PSL 2022 Match 7

QUE vs MUL Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report: PSL 2022 Match 7 | QUE vs MUL Dream11 Prediction Today | Quetta Gladiators vs Multan Sultans Key Players | Karachi Pitch Report

Defending champions Multan Sultans have made the perfect start to their title defence, winning two out of two so far in PSL 2022. Interestingly, both victories have been quite the contrast, highlighting the depth in their squad and ability to produce in different disciplines.

Yes, chasing has proven the way to go once again at Karachi, but Multan have both restricted a team (124/5 vs Karachi) and chased a mammoth total (206/5 vs Lahore) with the top order in great touch and Khushdil Shah showing off his finishing ability after sealing 16 off the final four balls.

So, it promises to be an interesting match against Quetta Gladiators. Last season’s bottom-placed team has made a promising start to PSL 2022, notching up 190 against Peshawar, before rolling Karachi for 113 courtesy of Naseem Shah’s brilliant 5/20. The key for the Gladiators will be to make inroads into the Sultans’ top order and put pressure on their middle as early as possible.

Possible Playing 11

Quetta Gladiators: 1. Will Smeed, 2. Ahsan Ali, 3. Ben Duckett, 4. Sarfaraz Ahmed (c & wk), 5. Iftikhar Ahmed, 6. Mohammad Nawaz, 7. Sohail Tanvir, 8. James Faulkner, 9. Ashir Qureshi, 10. Mohammad Hasnain, 11. Naseem Shah

Imran Khan went for 54 in his 3.4 overs last game vs Lahore, so he may be replaced today. Also, it remains to be seen if Ihsanullah plays after bowling 2.2 overs in the last match.

Multan Sultans: 1. Shan Masood, 2. Mohammad Rizwan (c & wk), 3. Sohaib Maqsood, 4. Rilee Rossouw, 5. Tim David, 6. Khushdil Shah, 7. David Willey, 8. Imran Khan/Anwar Ali, 9. Shahnawaz Dahani, 10. Imran Tahir, 11. Ihsanullah/Ruman Raees

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

Quetta Gladiators:

  • Ahsan Ali has made a superb start to PSL 2022 with scores of 73 (46) and 57* (43). He will be aiming to improve on his record vs Multan, against whom he has scored just 40 runs in three innings against since 2019 (avg. 13.33).
  • Will Smeed has also made a terrific start to this campaign. After his brilliant 97 in the first match, he then huffed and puffed his way to a 35-ball 30 vs Karachi. Eyes will be on how he fares today.
  • Sarfaraz Ahmed was excellent in PSL 2021 (321 runs, avg. 45.85, SR 137.76), but has a poor record vs Multan Sultans. In five innings against them, he has scored 60 runs at an average of 15.00 and strike rate of 89.55.
  • What a performance it was from Naseem Shah a couple of days ago vs Karachi. The pacer demolished Babar Azam’s team, taking 5/20. He took 1/45 in his only match vs Multan so far, back in 2020.
  • James Faulkner, who took 13 wickets in six matches in the UAE leg of PSL 2021, has taken two wickets in two matches so far this season. He will be crucial in the powerplay overs.
  • Mohammad Nawaz has seven wickets in seven matches vs Multan at an economy rate of under seven runs per over.

Multan Sultans:

  • Shan Masood was outstanding in Sultans’ 200+ chase vs Lahore. His 50-ball 83 led the charge, and he scored 73 off 42 balls in his last match against Quetta.
  • Mohammad Rizwan, who scored more than 2,000 T20 runs in 2021, has struck two half-centuries in two matches in PSL 2022. The star keeper-batsman has struck 169 runs vs Quetta at an average of 42.25, including 66 off 50 balls on this ground last season.
  • Sohaib Maqsood was player of the tournament in PSL 2021, but scored just 5 and 2 against Quetta last season. He has struck 60 runs vs Quetta since 2017 at an average of 20, and the strike rate of 90 is well below his usual. Can he turn these numbers around today?
  • Khushdil Shah produced an excellent all-round display last match vs Lahore, taking 1/14 with the ball and smashing a match-winning 18* off four balls with the bat. He has scored just 45 runs in five innings vs Quetta at an average of 11.25.
  • Imran Tahir (3/16 and 1/32) has made a superb start to PSL 2022. Also, the leg-spinner has a brilliant record for Sultans against Quetta, with 11 wickets in just five matches at an average of 9.64 and economy rate of 6.36, including 2/29 and 3/7 last year.
  • Shahnawaz Dahani took 20 wickets last season, of which four came against Quetta in two matches (1/14 and 3/44).

Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 8, Multan Sultans 3, Quetta Gladiators 4, N/R 1.
  • Quetta was the only team to successfully defend a total at Karachi in PSL 2021. It was against Multan.
  • Sohail Tanvir bowled nicely a couple of days ago against Karachi, taking 2/29. The former Sultans bowler has taken 2/24 in both his matches vs Multan.
  • Rilee Rossouw scored a century against Quetta in the PSL 2020 season. However, he has historically struggled on this ground, with an average of just 16.88 in 11 matches.

National Stadium Karachi Pitch Report and Weather

The chasing team has won 19 of the last 20 PSL matches at Karachi, including all six this season. The average first innings score is 161.83 this season, and anything below 180 will be very tough to defend with dew around.

Another clear evening is forecast for Karachi.

PES vs ISL Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report: PSL 2022 Match 5

PES vs ISL Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report: PSL 2022 Match 5 | PES vs ISL Dream11 Prediction Today | Peshawar Zalmi vs Islamabad United Key Players | Karachi Pitch Report

Peshawar Zalmi, last season’s finalists, started their PSL 2022 campaign in strong fashion as they flexed their batting muscle. With Ben Cutting listed at seven – and Wahab Riaz set to return and able to wield the willow – Zalmi can bat with a great sense of freedom.

And that they did in their opening match against Quetta Gladiators. They chased 191 in clinical fashion, with the ageless Shoaib Malik once again highlighting his immense value. They will be aiming for another batting display here, along with a good bowling display on an excellent Karachi surface.

Islamabad United will begin their campaign today. They were far and away the best side in the PSL 2021 league stage, winning eight of their 10 matches. However, they were eliminated in straight sets, which would have disappointed all associated with the two-time PSL champions.

Like Zalmi, Islamabad have plenty of batting talent, with more overseas talent soon to join the squad. Asif Ali, who was excellent in last year’s T20 World Cup, will be after the perfect platform from the likes of Alex Hales and co., with a capable bowling attack to complement that.

Possible Playing 11

Kamran Akmal and Wahab Riaz, who previously tested for COVID-19, have had a practice session and are available for today’s match.

Peshawar Zalmi: 1. Tom Kohler-Cadmore, 2. Kamran Akmal (wk), 3. Haider Ali, 4. Shoaib Malik (c), 5. Hussain Talat, 6. Sherfane Rutherford, 7. Ben Cutting, 8. Wahab Riaz (c), 9. Pat Brown, 10. Sameen Gul/Sohail Khan, 11. Usman Qadir

Islamabad United: 1. Alex Hales, 2. Paul Stirling, 3. Rahmanullah Gurbaz, 4. Azam Khan (wk), 5. Asif Ali, 6. Shadab Khan (c), 7. Faheem Ashraf, 8. Danish Aziz, 9. Hasan Ali, 10. Muhammad Musa, 11. Zahir Khan

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

Peshawar Zalmi:

  • Kamran Akmal is likely to return to the Zalmi XI. He has the most runs in Zalmi-United matches, with 447 runs in 15 matches at an average of 29.80 and strike rate of 149.50.
  • Akmal is one of three players to have at least 1,000 runs at National Stadium in Karachi (1,005 runs, avg. 33.50, SR 141.75).
  • Shoaib Malik was outstanding two days ago in his 32-ball 48* to seal victory for Zalmi. He has batted beautifully vs Islamabad United since the beginning of 2020, with 129 runs in three innings at a strike rate of 169.74. He has been dismissed just once.
  • Also, Malik averages a brilliant 52.24 in 36 T20s at Karachi, with a strike rate of 134.27.
  • Hussain Talat will come up against his former team today. He was also brilliant two days ago with a 29-ball 52.
  • Wahab Riaz has excellent bowling and batting numbers for Peshawar against Islamabad. The skipper has struck 150 runs in 10 innings at an average of 30.00 and superb strike rate of 164.84. He also has the most wickets in Zalmi-United matches, with 23 scalps in 14 matches at an average of 16.48 and economy rate of 6.79.
  • Also, Wahab has the most T20 wickets of any bowler at Karachi. The left-armer has taken 29 wickets in 23 matches at an average of 21.59 and strike rate of 16.97.
  • Usman Qadir was excellent two days ago in a high-scoring match vs Quetta. The leg-spinner took 2/20, and he will be key here once again.

Islamabad United:

  • Alex Hales smashed 41 off 27 balls vs Peshawar on this ground last season. He will be aiming to improve on his record at Karachi to date, which reads: 9 inns, 243 runs, avg. 27.00, SR 131.35.
  • Paul Stirling, if picked, will be key for Islamabad. He is coming off a decent ODI series in West Indies, where he made scores of 21 and 44. Can he build on this here?
  • Asif Ali has scored 178 runs against Peshawar at an average of 20.78, but the key stat is his superb strike rate of 192.78. He also enjoys batting on this ground, with 566 runs in 26 innings at an average touching 30 and strike rate above 156.
  • Shadab Khan has 10 wickets in as many matches vs Peshawar since 2017 (avg. 29.10, econ. 7.86). He has similar numbers at Karachi, with 18 wickets in 16 matches at an average of 25.50 and strike rate of 19.83.
  • Can Shadab improve on his batting numbers against Peshawar? The skipper has scored just 107 runs in 11 innings vs Peshawar since 2017, but does have a score of 77 against them.
  • Hasan Ali smashed 45 (16) in last year’s Eliminator vs Peshawar, so his batting will be key down the order. He will also be crucial with the ball as he has the fourth-most wickets on this ground (24, avg. 21.25), and took four wickets in three matches vs Peshawar in 2021.
  • Faheem Ashraf concedes just 6.93 runs per over and takes more than a wicket per match on this ground (18 scalps in 16 matches). He will be aiming to improve on his record vs Peshawar, which reads: 9 inns, 7 wickets, avg. 36.57, econ. 8.83.

Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 16, Peshawar 8, Islamabad 7, N/R 1.
  • Peshawar Zalmi (177/2) thumped Islamabad United (176/9) in last season’s Eliminator.
  • Peshawar have won five of the last six completed matches against Islamabad.

National Stadium Karachi Pitch Report and Weather

The chasing team is reigning supreme once again, winning all four matches so far in PSL 2022. The team batting second has won 17 of the last 18 PSL matches on this ground, including Multan chasing over 200 yesterday vs Lahore.

Another clear day is forecast in Karachi, with a top of about 26 degrees.

KAR vs QUE Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: PSL 2022 Match 4

KAR vs QUE Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: PSL 2022 Match 4 | KAR vs QUE Dream11 Prediction Today | Karachi Kings vs Quetta Gladiators Key Players | Karachi Pitch Report

Two teams who lost their respective first matches will go head-to-head in match two of today’s PSL double-header. Both Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators missed opportunities to start the season well, with the Kings making an under-par score on the tournament’s opening night and Gladiators making some questionable decisions in the field.

After sitting pretty at 155/0 courtesy of brilliance from Will Smeed and Ahsan Ali, the Gladiators had the chance to score 200+ easily against Zalmi yesterday. They ended up with 190 and surrendered the advantage with spin bowling to Hussain Talat and Shoaib Malik instead of unleashing their talented pace attack in the key middle overs.

Kings, on the other hand, struggled to 124 on a decent batting pitch two nights ago. If they are to make any mark in this year’s tournament, they need more urgency with the bat, and today is a good opportunity to do that. Batting second is proving to be the way to go on this ground, but runs on the board always gives you a chance.

Possible Playing 11

Karachi Kings: 1. Babar Azam (c), 2. Sharjeel Khan, 3. Joe Clarke (wk), 4. Mohammad Nabi, 5. Tom Lammonby, 6. Lewis Gregory, 7. Aamer Yamin, 8. Mohammad Imran, 9. Mohammad Taha, 10. Umaid Asif, 11. Mohammad Ilyas

Quetta Gladiators: 1. Will Smeed, 2. Ahsan Ali, 3. Ben Duckett, 4. Sarfaraz Ahmed (c & wk), 5. Iftikhar Ahmed, 6. Mohammad Nawaz, 7. Sohail Tanvir, 8. James Faulkner, 9. Ashir Qureshi, 10. Mohammad Hasnain, 11. Naseem Shah

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

Karachi Kings:

  • Babar Azam was not at his fluent best in the first match. His 29-ball 23 ensured that the Kings couldn’t get away from the Sultans, so this is an important innings for the skipper.
  • Babar has an under-par record by his standards against Quetta. The right-hander has struck 289 runs in 10 matches at an average of 28.90 and strike rate of 106.25.
  • Sharjeel Khan looked in decent touch last match (43 off 31 balls). However, the left-hander has a poor record vs Quetta (7 inns, 79 runs, avg. 11.29, SR 102), so can he turn that around today?
  • Joe Clarke will be key to the Kings’ batting effort. He scored 46 off 23 balls vs Quetta on this ground in PSL 2021. Also, Clarke is coming off an excellent BBL campaign: 419 runs in 13 innings at an average of 32.23 and strike rate of 151.26.
  • Mohammad Nabi looked in good bowling form vs Sultans, taking 2/17. He is struggling for batting form at the moment, but he comes up against the side whom he struck 30 off 14 balls last season.
  • Mohammad Ilyas was the Kings’ leading wicket-taker in PSL 2021 (eight scalps in five matches), which included 3/39 vs Quetta. He bowled just the one over against Sultans, so it will be interesting to see if he is used more here.

Quetta Gladiators:

  • Will Smeed was outstanding yesterday. The 20-year old took advantage of some early luck to play a blinder of a knock (97 off 62 balls), and he will be aiming for another big effort here.
  • Ahsan Ali also looked in fine touch vs Zalmi. The right-hander struck 73 off 46 balls, part of a 155-run opening stand with Smeed. He now has 254 runs to his name in seven T20s on this ground at an average of 36.28 and strike rate of 138.04.
  • Sarfaraz Ahmed has some solid numbers against Kings, with 210 runs in 10 innings at an average of 52.20 and strike rate of 120.00. The Quetta captain had a fine PSL 2021 campaign, with 321 runs in 10 innings at an average of 45.85 and strike rate of 137.76.
  • Sohail Tanvir has 10 wickets in 10 matches vs Karachi. However, he averages over 40 on this ground.
  • James Faulkner had a tough first game in PSL 2022, where he went the journey at the death (1/40). He was one of Quetta’s excellent performers in phase two of PSL 2021, where he took 13 wickets in six matches.
  • Mohammad Hasnain takes two wickets per match vs Karachi. The pace bowler has eight wickets in four games at an average of 15.00 and economy rate of 7.50.

Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 12, Karachi Kings 5, Quetta Gladiators 7.
  • Karachi won both games against Quetta last season.
  • Ben Duckett recently scored the most runs for Brisbane Heat in BBL 11 (302) with three half-centuries in 12 matches.

National Stadium Karachi Pitch Report and Weather

Chasing is the way to go on this ground. The chasing team has won 15 of the last 16 PSL matches here, with dew playing a key role. Yesterday, Quetta were unable to defend 190.

A clear evening is forecast in Karachi.

MUL vs LAH Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: PSL 2022 Match 3

MUL vs LAH Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report: PSL 2022 Match 3 | MUL vs LAH Dream11 Prediction Today | Multan Sultans vs Lahore Qalandars | Karachi Pitch Report

It was the perfect start to PSL 2022 for defending champions Multan Sultans, as they swept past Karachi Kings with ease on the tournament’s opening night.

The bowlers, led by Imran Tahir, showed why they will be a tough team to beat once again, restricting the Kings at all stages of the innings. Also, with the top three batsmen spending valuable time at the crease, Multan will be feeling confident of backing up their win with another in the first day match of PSL 2022.

Mohammad Rizwan’s team come up against a side seeking redemption after a poor PSL 2021 campaign. 2020 finalists Lahore Qalandars missed out on the playoffs last season, despite finishing with the same number of wins as second-placed Sultans (5). However, their net run rate of -0.583 was mighty costly, courtesy of two thumping losses to Sultans, so consistency in performance will be important.

The Qalandars have an exciting squad on paper once again, with the likes of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Fakhar Zaman, David Wiese and Haris Rauf aiming to make the perfect start today. Then, when you consider they have international talent arriving soon, there is plenty to be optimistic about.

Possible Playing 11

Multan Sultans: 1. Shan Masood, 2. Mohammad Rizwan (c & wk), 3. Sohaib Maqsood, 4. Rilee Rossouw, 5. Tim David, 6. Khushdil Shah, 7. David Willey, 8. Imran Tahir, 9. Imran Khan sr, 10. Shahnawaz Dahani, 11. Ihsanullah

Rashid Khan is expected to miss this match as it is soon after his arrival to Pakistan. He has just completed an ODI series for Afghanistan vs Netherlands.

Lahore Qalandars: 1. Fakhar Zaman, 2. Abdullah Shafique, 3. Sohail Akhtar, 4. Mohammad Hafeez, 5. Ben Dunk (wk), 6. David Wiese, 7. Samit Patel, 8. Mohammad Imran, 9. Ahmed Daniyal, 10. Shaheen Shah Afridi (c), 11. Haris Rauf

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

Multan Sultans:

  • Skipper Mohammad Rizwan, who scored over 2,000 T20 runs in 2021, made a solid start to PSL 2022 with an unbeaten half-century vs Karachi. Rizwan scored 76 (49) against Qalandars on this ground last season.
  • Shan Masood, who looked quite good for his 26 vs Karachi, has the most runs of any Sultans player vs Qalandars (155, avg. 31.00, SR 146.23).
  • Sohaib Maqsood started PSL 2022 in steady fashion, with a 31-ball 30 vs Kings. He was player of the tournament in PSL 2021, where he dominated the Qalandars, scoring 61* (41) and 60 (40) against them.
  • Shahnawaz Dahani was the top wicket-taker in PSL 2021 with 20 scalps. This included a superb 4/5 against Lahore in Abu Dhabi, after he took 2/39 against them on this ground last season.
  • The ageless Imran Tahir is showing no signs of stopping. The leg-spinner was at his best against Karachi, spinning a web around them to finish with 3/16. He was rightly awarded player of the match.
  • Tahir has taken seven wickets in five matches for Sultans vs Qalandars at an average of 17.43 and economy rate of 6.65.

Lahore Qalandars:

  • Fakhar Zaman has the most runs in Qalandars-Sultans matches with 325 runs in nine matches at an average of 36.11 and strike rate of 145.74. Zaman also has similar numbers at National Stadium, with 595 runs in 19 innings at an average of 33.06 and strike rate of 140.66.
  • Mohammad Hafeez has the fourth-most runs of any player on this ground, with 689 runs in 21 innings at an average of 43.06 and brilliant strike rate of 162.50. The experienced all-rounder also has some solid numbers vs Sultans, with 222 runs in seven knocks at an average of 37.00 and strike rate of 120.65.
  • David Wiese has been a terrific servant of PSL cricket. After a terrific campaign with Namibia in the T20 World Cup, Wiese will be looking to make an impact right away. He has a terrific record vs Sultans since 2019, with 139 runs in five innings at an average of 46.33 and strike rate of 182.89, along with seven wickets at an average of 18.14.
  • Skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi will have a key role to play. He has a superb record vs Sultans, with 17 scalps in nine matches at an average of 13.06 and economy rate of 6.80, including 2/29 and 3/23 last season. Also, he has 19 wickets in 13 matches on this ground (avg. 21.63, econ. 8.28).
  • Can Haris Rauf improve on poor numbers vs Sultans? The pacer has six wickets in seven matches at a high average of 46.00 and economy rate of over 10 runs per over. He also has an economy rate of 9.25 in 11 matches on this ground (14 wickets).

Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 9, Multan Sultans 5, Lahore Qalandars 4.
  • Sultans smashed Qalandars by seven wickets and 80 runs in PSL 2021.
  • The chasing team has won 15 of the past 16 PSL matches on this ground.

National Stadium Karachi Pitch Report and Weather

Chasing teams are dominating, but given this is a day game with no dew, the team batting first may stand a chance. Teams batting second have won 15 of the past 16 PSL matches at the National Stadium in Karachi, including yesterday where Peshawar Zalmi chased 190 against Quetta Gladiators.

A clear day is forecast in Karachi, with a top of about 25 degrees.

QUE vs PES Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report: PSL 2022 Match 2 | QUE vs PES Dream11 Prediction Today | Quetta Gladiators vs Peshawar Zalmi Key Players | Karachi Pitch Report

How will Quetta Gladiators fare this season? Last season’s bottom-placed team will be aiming for a much better season in PSL 2022. To achieve that, they will need to start a lot better, after they lost each of their first four matches.

Then, to start the UAE leg, they lost by 10 wickets with 10 overs to spare against Islamabad United. While chasing teams fare well at Karachi (14 wins in last 15 PSL matches), the Gladiators need to ensure their batting holds up. They have the talent to produce better results, with the likes of Ben Duckett and Shimron Hetmyer alongside skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed and the much-maligned Umar Akmal.

Also, the talent in their pace bowling ranks, including James Faulkner who was excellent in the second leg of PSL 2021, gives the Gladiators fans something to be optimistic about.

Peshawar Zalmi will be aiming to one better this season after losing the PSL 2021 Final. They were up and down for most of the season, unable to string victories consecutively on a regular basis, so a strong start to the season will be a good foundation to work off. Once again, they have a mix of youth and experience, and it will be interesting to see how they fare.

Possible Playing 11

Shahid Afridi has tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss the Gladiators’ first four matches. Wahab Riaz is out for Zalmi.

Quetta Gladiators: 1. Ben Duckett, 2. Umar Akmal, 3. Shimron Hetmyer, 4. Sarfaraz Ahmed (c & wk), 5. Dan Lawrence, 6. Iftikhar Ahmed, 7. James Faulkner, 8. Mohammad Nawaz, 9. Naseem Shah, 10. Mohammad Hasnain, 11. Sohail Tanvir

Peshawar Zalmi: 1. Kamran Akmal (wk), 2. Hazratullah Zazai, 3. Haider Ali, 4. Tom Kohler-Cadmore, 5. Shoaib Malik (c), 6. Sherfane Rutherford, 7. Hussain Talat, 8. Sohail Khan, 9. Sameen Gul, 10. Mohammad Umar, 11. Usman Qadir

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

Quetta Gladiators:

  • Skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed was the shining light in a difficult 2021 season for the Gladiators. He scored 321 runs in 10 innings at an average of 45.85 and strike rate of 137.76, including scores of 81 (40) and 35* (29) vs Zalmi.
  • Overall against Zalmi, Sarfaraz has scored 383 runs in 15 innings at an average of 29.46 and strike rate of 140.81. Also, the keeper-batsman has scored 459 runs in 20 innings at Karachi at an average of 27.00.
  • What will Umar Akmal produce? He has 186 career runs in nine innings vs Zalmi at an average of 37.20 and strike rate of 123.18.
  • Ben Duckett could prove to be a solid addition for the Gladiators. The Englishman had some decent moments in his recent BBL stint, where he scored the most runs for Brisbane Heat (302) with three half-centuries in 12 matches.
  • James Faulkner was terrific for the Gladiators in the second leg of PSL 2021. He took 13 wickets in six matches at an average of 12.00 and strike rate of 11, and he will be aiming to make an immediate impact in PSL 2022.
  • Mohammad Nawaz has the most wickets for Gladiators against Zalmi. The left-arm spinner has 22 wickets to his name in 18 matches vs Peshawar at an average of 22.55 and economy rate of 7.67.
  • Mohammad Hasnain, who was impressive in the recent BBL, has 12 wickets in seven matches vs Zalmi (avg. 18.67, econ. 8.45).

Peshawar Zalmi:

  • Kamran Akmal has scored the most runs in Gladiators-Zalmi matches (459). He averages 25.50 and strikes at 123.72, including 59 off 37 balls in his last innings against them.
  • Kamran is one of three players who has at least 1,000 T20 runs at National Stadium in Karachi (1,005, avg. 33.50, SR 141.75).
  • Shoaib Malik, who scored the fourth-most runs in PSL 2021 (354), has a good career record against Quetta, with 342 runs in 12 innings at an average of 34.20 and strike rate of 137.35.
  • Malik has a superb record at Karachi. The right-hander has scored 1,049 runs in 33 innings at an average of 49.95 and strike rate of 133.63.
  • Shefane Rutherford will be key as a finisher. He was superb in CPL 2021, as well as PSL 2021, where he scored 276 runs in 12 innings at an average of 34.50 and strike rate of 153.33.
  • Sameen Gul will be key in the absence of Wahab. He has five wickets in five matches vs Zalmi at an average of 31.40 and economy rate of 7.85.

Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 18, Peshawar 9, Quetta 8, N/R 1.
  • Zalmi have won the past four matches between the teams.
  • Hazratullah Zazai was in some good touch in last month’s T10 tournament in Abu Dhabi, where he scored 55* and 66* late in the tournament.
  • Sohail Tanvir has gone wicketless in four matches for Quetta for Peshawar.

National Stadium Karachi Pitch Report and Weather

The chasing team has won 14 of the past 15 PSL matches on this ground. The average first innings score was 168 in PSL 2021, and the team batting first today needs to put on a big score after Karachi made an under-par 124/5 yesterday.

A cool and clear evening is forecast in Karachi. Dew may play a role. Expect the captain who wins the toss to choose to field first.
