SCG Sydney weather forecast for 5th Ashes Test

Cricket fans usually hold their breath when the SCG New Years’ Test rolls around. Inclement weather has often impacted these matches, and eyes are on the weather forecast (and pitch) ahead of the fifth and final Ashes Test.

In promising news, the SCG weather looks promising, although rain is forecast on day one.

Sydney weather: Will it rain during the 5th Ashes Test at the SCG?

The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) forecasts a “shower or two” with “a thunderstorm likely” with a top of 29 degrees on Sunday (day one). According to the platform, there is a 50% chance of at least 2mm and 25% chance of at least 7mm.

AccuWeather says “watch out for a strong storm in the afternoon”. However, according to its hourly forecast, there will be partly cloudy conditions until 5pm, with less than a 15% chance of precipitation.

Conditions will be just about perfect for the rest of the Test. BOM forecasts a possible storm on day two, but rain is expected to be minimal (0-1). Day three will have a top of 27 degrees with partly cloudy conditions (no chance of rain), while days four (30 degrees) and five (32 degrees) will be warmer with no rain as well.

How will the pitch play?

Cool conditions in the leadup to the Test could see a bowler-friendly pitch early in the match. However, it should settle down into days two and three especially as there will be more sunshine.

Curator Adam Lewis said they will leave about 6mm of grass. This is less than what last year’s pitch had for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test, which was quite a spicy surface.

“We took our learnings from last year [BGT Test],” Lewis said, as quoted by Sydney Morning Herald. “Maybe a bit too much in it on day one. We always get nervous this time of year. This is our grand final. We work months leading into our Test preparation.

“We’re just excited to get there. The only thing we can’t control is the weather. We’re just trying to prepare a pitch that’s a great balance for bat and ball.

“They’re saying [there will be] a bit more sun tomorrow, so that will take the green out of the pitch. We’re really happy with the pitch at the moment.”

Hassan Khan Interview: Feels like I’m playing in Pakistan in the BBL

The addition of several stars from Pakistan has enhanced the popularity of the Big Bash League (BBL).

Babar Azam’s Sydney Sixers beat Mohammad Rizwan’s Melbourne Renegades by six wickets on New Years’ Day in Melbourne, with the 31-year-old scoring an unbeaten 58 from 46 deliveries. For the Renegades, Hassan Khan turned out to be one of the few positives as he scored a 29-ball 39 to help the the hosts post a decent total.

Despite being new to the BBL, Hassan is a regular face in other T20 leagues such as the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and Major League Cricket (MLC). He also represented Pakistan in the U19 World Cup in 2016 before becoming an American cricketer.

During an exclusive interview with Arvind Kalyana Krishnan for CricBlog following the match, Hassan Khan drew light on the fans in Australia as well as the Pakistani fans down under. The USA cricketer also spoke about his experience while playing alongside Mohammad Rizwan in the BBL.

When asked about his favourite players, the all-rounder stated that he loves watching AB de Villiers bat. Hassan also said that he loves the bowling of players like Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammad Nawaz, before expressing his excitement over the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026.

Hassan Khan interview: I watch Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammad Nawaz closely

Below is the video (Hindi/Urdu) and text (English) of the conversation between Hassan Khan and Arvind Kalyana Krishnan:

Arvind Kalyana Krishnan: You’re currently playing at Melbourne Renegades alongside Mohammad Rizwan. So how has your experience been with him for now?

Hassan Khan: It’s a very nice experience. Although I’ve played with Rizwan bhai in Pakistan, I’ve mostly played against him. Over here I’m playing with him, and I’m getting to learn a lot because, you know, Rizwan bhai is a big name in Pakistan cricket and even in international cricket. So, I’m trying to learn as much as I can from his experience, and I’m spending good time with him and I’m enjoying it.

Arvind Kalyana Krishnan: If we talk about Australia, then there are a lot of Pakistani fans, Indian fans, and Sri Lankan fans, so how has your experience been while playing in Australia?

Hassan Khan: Yes, of course, it’s a very good experience, and if we talk about this match (Melbourne Renegades vs Sydney Sixers game) then there was a lot of Pakistani crowd, it was almost houseful, so yeah, I enjoyed playing today. It felt like I’m playing in Pakistan only with the amount of Pakistani crowd that came. Obviously, when there’s crowd it feels good and it’s always fun as they support us and we try to entertain them as much as possible.

Arvind Kalyana Krishnan: Who are your favourite cricketers from this generation? Do you have any?

Hassan Khan: Yes, of course! I love watching AB de Villiers bat. Other than that, I love Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling and Pakistan’s Mohammad Nawaz’s bowling. So I try to look at them and see the way they play…. Like how they bat and bowl in different situations, I try to learn from them.

Arvind Kalyana Krishnan: The T20 World Cup is on it’s way. So how do you perceive it for now? I mean what are your expectations from it? Which player will play well? Any team in particular? Do Pakistan have an opportunity to play well?

Hassan Khan: Yes, of course, T20 is a format where you can’t predict anything like who’ll play well and who won’t. I mean, you know all teams in international cricket are good. So whichever team performs well on that day wins. So I hope we have a good tournament and a good World Cup and the people who are watching enjoy watching it!

THU vs HUR Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report – BBL 2025/26 21st Match

Sydney Thunder are in must-win territory. Last year’s finalists have won just one of their first five games and have been thrashed on multiple occasions, culminating in their terrible net run rate of -1.463.

The Thunder have been a mess. They’ve conceded big totals and have only got going with the bat once. Last time out, they reduced the Perth Scorchers to 34/3 in 5.3 overs, only to then concede 202/8 courtesy of an Ashton Turner classic.

Today, the Thunder desperately need an all-round performance and to hold their nerve in the pressure moments. It won’t be easy against defending champions Hobart Hurricanes, who are smarting from their own loss to Perth Scorchers.

The Hurricanes were on the wrong end of Mitchell Marsh and Aaron Hardie dominance. They will be aiming to bounce back today, and given the way the Thunder have been batting, Nathan Ellis’ team will fancy their chances.

BBL 2025/26 21st Match: THU vs HUR Possible Playing XIs

Nic Maddinson returns to the Thunder squad after recovering from a broken thumb and other health battles. He could make the XI as the Thunder batting is misfiring.

Shadab Khan is available for this match before he leaves for Pakistan’s T20I series against Sri Lanka. Reece Topley has left for the SA20.

Sydney Thunder: 1. David Warner (c), 2. Matthew Gilkes, 3. Sam Konstas, 4. Cameron Bancroft/Nic Maddinson, 5. Sam Billings (OS, wk), 6. Daniel Sams, 7. Shadab Khan (OS), 8. Chris Green, 9. Nathan McAndrew, 10. Tanveer Sangha, 11. Wes Agar

The Hurricanes could stick with the same XI. One move they could make is playing the in-form Nikhil Chaudhary up the order.

Hobart Hurricanes: 1. Tim Ward, 2. Mitchell Owen, 3. Nikhil Chaudhary, 4. Ben McDermott, 5. Mac Wright, 6. Matthew Wade (wk), 7. Chris Jordan (OS), 8. Rehan Ahmed (OS), 9. Nathan Ellis (c), 10. Rishad Hossain (OS), 11. Riley Meredith

ENGIE Stadium Sydney Showground Pitch Report and Weather

Batting first has proved fruitful at Sydney Showground this season. Sydney Sixers (198/5) and Perth Scorchers (202/8) enjoyed very comfortable victories against the struggling Sydney Thunder. In fact, teams batting first have won the past five games dating back to last season.

Pace bowlers have fared well on this ground in BBL 2025/26. They have picked up 25 wickets in the two games at an average of 15.76 and economy of 8.49. Spinners have taken just seven wickets so far at an average of 40.43 and economy of 9.43.

A partly cloudy evening is forecast with a top of 21 degrees from 7pm to 10:30pm local time. No rain is expected.

Reactions to Usman Khawaja retirement: Tributes flow for 87-Test veteran

Usman Khawaja has announced his retirement from international cricket. The fifth and final Ashes Test at the SCG will be his last, 15 years after he made his debut at the same venue.

Khawaja fronted the media on Friday morning. His extended family was in the room, including wife Rachael, his two children, and parents.

“It’s been tough – I’ve just wanted to tell everyone,” Khawaja said at the SCG, as quoted by cricket.com.au.

“I told teammates just then – I didn’t think I’d get emotional but I teared up straightaway and I had to compose myself. I finally composed myself and got out what I wanted to say.

“I never thought I’d be the guy that would cry when he retired but I cried straightaway. It just shows what it means to me. My journey has been different to a lot of cricketers in the Australian cricket team. All that emotion built up.”

Usman Khawaja announces retirement: Fans react

Khawaja enters his final match with 87 Tests and 6,206 runs under his belt at an average of 43.39. He is currently 15th on the list of all-time run-scorers for Australia in men’s Tests, and needs 30 more to surpass Michael Hussey.

The SCG has been a special place for Khawaja. Not only did he make his debut at his home ground, he also struck twin hundreds in his comeback Test in the 2021-22 Ashes. That match kickstarted a successful run in the Test side where he played a number of fine knocks as opener, most notably in Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka.

Fans and former players sent their tributes to Khawaja and praised him on a fantastic career.

“Congratulations to @Uz_Khawaja on a fantastic career, well done for everything you have achieved. Congratulations to the family,” wrote Darren Lehmann on X (formerly Twitter).

“I’m a proud Muslim coloured boy from Pakistan who was told he would never play for the Australian cricket team – look at me now,” Khawaja said.

“I just want to be remembered as a humble cricketer who went out there and entertained, and (that) people enjoyed watching.”

Khawaja will continue to play in the Big Bash League for Brisbane Heat. He has also made himself available to be selected for Queensland’s Sheffield Shield team.

HEA vs STA Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report – BBL 2025/26 20th Match

High-flying Melbourne Stars travel to the Gabba to take on a Brisbane Heat side desperate for a victory.

The Heat sit in sixth place with a poor net run rate of -1.019 following their thrashing at the hands of Adelaide Strikers on New Years’ Eve. Their top order was blown away, and they can ill-afford a repeat against a Stars attack that is firing on all cylinders this season.

The Stars sit pretty atop the table thanks to four wins from four matches. They have chased in all their victories, with their bowlers setting up the match as numerous players contribute. Last time out, they made very light work of the Sydney Thunder, and they will be aiming to do the same to the Heat.

BBL 2025/26 20th Match: HEA vs STA Possible Playing XIs

In a boost for the Brisbane Heat, Nathan McSweeney is available and back in the squad. He should slot in at three.

Brisbane Heat: 1. Colin Munro (OS), 2. Jack Wildermuth, 3. Nathan McSweeney (c), 4. Matt Renshaw, 5. Max Bryant, 6. Hugh Weibgen, 7. Jimmy Peirson (wk), 8. Xavier Bartlett, 9. Matthew Kuhnemann, 10. Thomas Balkin, 11. Oli Patterson

England batter Sam Hain joins the Stars squad to replace Joe Clarke (hip injury).

Melbourne Stars: 1. Sam Harper (wk), 2. Thomas Rogers, 3. Campbell Kellaway, 4. Glenn Maxwell, 5. Marcus Stoinis (c), 6. Sam Hain (OS), 7. Hilton Cartwright, 8. Tom Curran (OS), 9. Mitchell Swepson, 10. Haris Rauf (OS), 11. Peter Siddle

Gabba Brisbane Pitch Report and Weather

Teams batting first have scored 257 and 179 this season. Brisbane Heat defended 179 against Adelaide Strikers back on December 27 after they chased 258 against the Scorchers. Overall, it has been a terrific batting surface.

Since the start of 2023, pace bowlers have taken 138 wickets in the BBL at the Gabba at an average of 24.31 and economy of 9.09. Spinners have had less success, taking 39 wickets at an average of 42.41 and economy of 8.41.

Some showers are possible during the day in Brisbane, but they are most likely to occur in the late morning and early afternoon according to the Bureau of Meteorology.

Fantasy Cricket Tips for HEA vs STA 2025/26: Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

Top wicket-keeper picks:

  • Sam Harper is enjoying the season of a lifetime. He has scored 194 runs at a strike rate of 157.72, including one fifty and one hundred. He’s been dismissed just once.

Key batter picks:

  • Heat need a good innings from Colin Munro. The left-hander has scored 238 runs against the Stars at an average of 59.50 and strike rate of 149.69.
  • Matt Renshaw has struck 232 runs at an average of 58.00 and strike rate of 170.6 in T20s at the Gabba since the start of 2025.

Top all-rounder picks:

  • Marcus Stoinis has scored 468 runs at an average of 31.20 and strike rate of 152.94 against the Heat. The Stars captain is also in terrific form with the ball this season (7 wickets, SR 10.28).
  • Jack Wildermuth has missed out with the bat in recent matches, but he remains a great pick for fantasy cricket as he opens the batting and bowls multiple overs. He smashed 110* off 54 balls at the Gabba earlier this season.
  • Tom Curran has taken four wickets in the powerplay this season at a superb economy rate of 8.00. Brisbane Heat have lost seven powerplay wickets.

Key bowler picks:

  • Xavier Bartlett loves bowling at the Gabba. Since the start of 2023, Bartlett has taken 24 wickets here at an average of 14.38 and strike rate of 11.25. He has a crucial matchup against Sam Harper, whom he has dismissed twice in 36 balls (42 runs).
  • Bartlett has also dominated Marcus Stoinis in T20s: 18 balls, 14 runs, four wickets.
  • Haris Rauf is the equal second-highest wicket-taker in BBL 2025/26 with nine wickets. Peter Siddle is close behind with eight.

Other Players to Consider for your Fantasy Cricket Teams

  • Nathan McSweeney is a crucial player for the Heat as their batting has blown hot and cold. He has a fine record at the Gabba: 9 inns, 300 runs, avg. 37.50, SR 134.53.
  • Glenn Maxwell has faced just 24 balls this season. He looked in good touch against the Thunder (39* off 20 balls) as the Stars gave him some time at the crease at three. Maxwell remains a better pick if the Stars bat first.
  • Campbell Kellaway is a solid pick if the Stars bat first. He has 83 runs at an average of 41.50 and strike rate of 122.05 this season.
  • Max Bryant enjoys playing against the Melbourne Stars: 9 inns, 282 runs, avg. 56.40, SR 158.43.

  • Matt Renshaw for the Stars vs Heat: 7 inns, 218 runs, avg. 36.33, SR 132.93.
  • Marcus Stoinis vs Max Bryant: 23 balls, 26 runs, one wicket.
  • Peter Siddle vs Max Bryant: 41 balls, 50 runs, three wickets.
  • Xavier Bartlett vs Hilton Cartwright: 19 balls, 19 runs, no wickets.

Greentop? SCG Pitch Report for 5th Ashes Test

The SCG pitch for the fifth Ashes encounter is firmly in the spotlight after the Boxing Day Test ended in two days. The quick finish was to the frustration of many fans and pundits, with the MCG pitch – and a lot of the batting – coming under scrutiny.

Images emerged of the SCG pitch on New Years’ Day, three days out from the final Test. There was a very healthy covering of grass, sparking speculation that the pitch could play similarly to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy match last year.

That surface proved to be very difficult for batting, although it was rated “satisfactory” by the ICC. Batting first, India fought hard to reach 185 in 72.2 overs on a seaming pitch. Australia responded with 181 in 51 overs, but the big news was Jasprit Bumrah leaving the SCG with back spasms. India then collapsed to 157 in their third innings, before Australia chased 162 four down at a run-a-ball against a Bumrah-less attack.

Scott Boland was near unplayable, winning man of the match for his figures of 4/31 and 6/45.

SCG pitch report for 5th Ashes Test: How much grass will be left on the surface?

Two-day Tests in Perth and Brisbane in this Ashes series has led to approximately $15 million in lost revenue. A flatter SCG pitch would come as no surprise as a result, but that is no guarantee.

The surface is green, but much of the grass is typically mowed as the Test nears. Curator Adam Lewis confirmed there will be about 6mm of grass left on the surface which will help hold the pitch together as hot weather is forecast throughout the match.

Could Australia go in with no spinner?

The SCG, traditionally a spin-friendly venue, has favoured seam a lot more in recent years.

Spinners have struggled in Tests on this ground since 2021. They have taken 33 wickets at an average of 49.18 and strike rate of 92.7. The next-worst average among Australian venues is 38.95 at Perth.

Also, the SCG has been seamer-friendly in the Sheffield Shield. In November, Victoria smashed a star-studded New South Wales team by 300 runs on a surface that became very difficult to bat on by days two and three. Cracks opened up and there was significant uneven bounce on a pitch that didn’t have too much grass.

In December, New South Wales rolled Queensland for 92 and 181. Seamer Charlie Stobo took 5/9 in the first innings to decimate Queensland’s batting lineup.

Offspinner Todd Murphy, who was brought into Australia’s Ashes squad to replace the injured Nathan Lyon, said seam is more of a factor at the SCG in recent years.

“I’ve only seen it [the pitch] from afar, and my eyes aren’t obviously amazing so it’s hard to pick out exactly what it’ll be,” Murphy said on Thursday, as quoted by Fox Sports.

“But I suppose we’re three days out and there’s a bit of grass on it at the moment. I have no idea (what it will be like) as I haven’t looked at it closely yet.

“I don’t think recently that it’s been massive spin out here, but it’s still been a big part. Shield cricket over the last couple of years – which is what I’ve had the main experience in – has evolved a bit to be more seam-friendly as well.”

However, there is every chance Australia select Murphy given there will be less grass and hot conditions throughout the match.

Mitch Marsh gears up for T20 World Cup with 102 off 58 balls

Mitch Marsh has found form ahead of the T20 World Cup, smashing 102 off 58 balls for Perth Scorchers against Hobart Hurricanes at Bellerive Oval. Marsh had endured a slow start to the 2025/26 Big Bash League (BBL) season with scores of 0, 3, 16 and 6 in the first four matches.

Marsh got off to a flyer, hitting 30 off his first 12 balls, including a six off the first ball of the match. He survived a dropped catch by Matthew Wade in the fourth over on 18, but he made the Hurricanes pay a big price.

Marsh then experienced a slow down in the middle overs – something to keep an eye on for the T20 World Cup in the subcontinent. His next 13 runs came off 21 balls. However, he took off in the 14th over, smashing 20 runs off four Mitch Owen deliveries to build on the momentum set by Aaron Hardie in the earlier Power Surge.

The opener brought up his century off 55 balls in the 18th over. He was brutal on anything the Hurricanes threw at him in the second half of the innings. This resulted in a number of full tosses delivered under pressure.

Marsh’s knock, which featured 11 fours and five sixes, is a timely confidence boost ahead of next month’s tournament.

Mitch Marsh smashes 102 off 58 balls on same day Australia T20 World Cup squad is announced

Marsh and Hardie combined for 164 off 84 balls in an incredible partnership. They smashed 149 off the final ten overs, with Hardie himself finishing unbeaten on 94 off just 43 balls.

Perth Scorchers’ 229/3 was their third 200+ total of the BBL 2025/26 season.

Earlier in the day, Australia named their preliminary 15-man squad for next month’s T20 World Cup. Marsh will lead a squad that features Cooper Connolly and other spin options in Glenn Maxwell, Matt Kuhnemann and Adam Zampa.

Also, Josh Hazlewood (achilles), Pat Cummins (back) and Tim David (back) have been included. But, they must prove their fitness in the coming weeks.

“The T20 side has enjoyed a long run of recent success, which enabled the panel to choose a balance of players across the variety of conditions Sri Lanka and India may present,” national selector George Bailey said, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

“Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Tim David are tracking well and we are confident they will be available for the World Cup. This is a preliminary squad so should changes need to be made they will ahead of the support period.”

Damien Martyn ill in hospital and “in the fight for his life”

Former Australia batsman Damien Martyn fell ill on Boxing Day and is now in a serious condition in hospital. That is according to 1985 AFL Brownlow Medallist and radio host Brad Hardie, who provided an update on Perth’s 6PR radio.

“Damien Martyn, the champ from WA, fantastic batsman … unfortunately took ill on Boxing Day and currently is residing in a Queensland hospital and he is in for the fight of his life,” Hardie said, as quoted by Fox Sports.

“Hope Damien Martyn can pull through because it’s really serious”

Sydney Morning Herald reports that Martyn is in an induced coma after being diagnosed with meningitis. The condition can lead to swelling of the brain due to inflammation of the protective membranes around the brain and spinal cord.

“I’d like everybody to certainly have their best wishes and positive thoughts for Marto. God give him strength,” Hardie said.

“Let’s hope he can pull through because it’s really serious.”

The Darwin-born Martyn grew up in Perth and turned out to be one of Australia’s finest and most stylish players of the modern era. He played 67 Tests, scoring 4,406 runs at an average of 46.37.

His performance in Australia’s successful tour of India in 2004 was one of the highlights of a fruitful career. He scored 444 runs at an average of 55.50 with two fifties and two hundreds, with his technique and timing against spin a strong feature of his fine series.

Martyn also played 208 ODIs that yielded 5,346 runs at an average of 40.80. He famously played the 2003 World Cup Final against India with a broken finger and combined with Ricky Ponting (140*) for an unbroken 234-run stand that formed the cornerstone of Australia’s second consecutive World Cup triumph.

Martyn himself scored 88* off 84 balls that day in Johannesburg and was ahead of Ponting at times throughout the innings as the Australian captain settled in.

Former Australia Test player Rodney Hogg was among the many to send his well wishes.

“We wish him all the best. That’s shocking news,” he said.

STR vs HEA Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report – BBL 2025/26 17th Match

The annual New Years’ Eve clash is here, and it’s Adelaide Strikers vs. Brisbane Heat take two. The teams played out a thrilling encounter on December 27 at the Gabba, with the Heat prevailing by seven runs.

Brisbane Heat were in trouble throughout their innings, but managed to reach 179/9. That would have come as a disappointment to the Strikers in the post-game analysis after letting a strong position slip. Max Bryant’s superb 32-ball 63 turned the match and was unfortunate not to win man of the match.

In reply, the Strikers’ inconsistency proved vital. Harry Manenti and Jerrssis Wadia were very promising and will be looking to build on their performances. However, they need more from Chris Lynn and the top order in this clash.

Brisbane Heat enter this match in fourth place, but have significant injury worries (see below). The Strikers need to win to get back in the top four.

BBL 2025/26 17th Match – STR vs HEA Possible Playing XIs

Alex Ross is back in the Adelaide Strikers squad. He could return in place of either Mackenzie Harvey or Harry Manenti, although the latter showed very promising signs a few nights ago.

Brisbane Heat have more injury concerns. Tom Alsop will miss this game and Shaheen Shah Afridi is out of the tournament.

“Due to an unexpected injury, I have been called back by the PCB and will have to take a rehab. Hopefully, I will be back in the field soon. Meanwhile, I will be cheering for the amazing team,” wrote Shaheen on social media, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.

Heat have named Jack Wood as a local replacement player and could make the XI.

Brisbane Heat: 1. Colin Munro (OS), 2. Jake Wildermuth, 3. Matt Renshaw, 4. Hugh Weibgen, 5. Max Bryant, 6. Lachlan Hearne/Jack Wood, 7. Jimmy Peirson (wk), 8. Xavier Bartlett (c), 9. Matt Kuhnemann, 10. Thomas Balkin, 11. Liam Haskett

Adelaide Oval Pitch Report and Weather

The Adelaide Oval surface offered seam movement in the powerplay in the December 23 match between the Strikers and Stars. Tom Curran (3/35) ran through the Strikers’ top order. The likes of Luke Wood and Xavier Bartlett are capable of taking powerplay wickets here.

Since the start of 2023, pace bowlers have taken 92 BBL wickets at an average of 33.66 and economy of 9.68. Spinners have fared well, taking 63 wickets at an average of 26.02 and economy of 8.05.

The average first innings score in the last six BBL games on this ground is 184.83. This includes the Strikers’ huge 251 against the Heat a year ago. Both teams batting first and second have won three games each.

A clear and cool evening is forecast. Chasing may be preferred due to the possibility of dew.

Durban Super Giants (DSG) will lock horns against the Joburg Super Kings (JSK). Kingsmead, Durban, will host this game on 30th December 2025 at 9 PM IST.

Durban’s last game got washed out against MI Cape Town, but they won the first game against them by 15 runs. Devon Conway (64 runs), Kane Williamson (40 runs), Aiden Markram (35 runs), and Evan Jones (33 runs) helped Durban score 232 runs batting first.

Their bowlers then held their nerves and restricted MICT to 217 runs. Eathan Bosch picked up four wickets, while Kwena Maphaka and Noor Ahmad also bowled well. The Super Giants will look to continue their good form in this match.

Meanwhile, the Joburg Super Kings also won their first game of the season against the Pretoria Capitals by 22 runs. Their batting depth came to use as Akeal Hosein’s blistering cameo (22* off 10) helped them post a total of 168 runs.

Kingsmead Durban Pitch Report and Weather

A good batting track will await both sides for this game. The ball will come onto the bat nicely, allowing the batters to play their shots. The pacers will get some assistance with the new ball for the first few overs, and the spinners also did well at this venue in the last five years. (economy 7.60). Expect the teams to prefer chasing.

It will be a cloudy day with a 10% chance of rain at the start of the game. But, we should get a full game.

Fantasy Cricket Tips for DSG vs JSK: Players to Watch/Key Stats

Top Wicket-Keeper Picks:

  • Jos Buttler scored 20 runs, and he looked in good touch. He will be a top fantasy pick, as we all know what he can do on his day.

  • Heinrich Klaasen (22 runs) also looked in decent touch in the first game. He will bat at 4 or 5 depending on his entry point. Klaasen is the highest run-scorer at Durban in the SA20 league.
  • Klaasen at Durban (SA20): 396 runs at an average of 33 and a strike rate of 174.45, including four fifties. He will be an excellent differential C/VC choice.
  • Ryan Rickelton was fabulous in the first game, and he loves playing at Durban. He will be a must in your fantasy teams and a top C/VC pick.
  • Ryan Rickelton at Durban (SA20): 105 runs in 2 innings, average 55, strike rate 175 with one fifty.

Key batter picks:

  • Faf du Plessis scored 2 off 8 in the first game, but he’s one of the best batters in the SA20 and the best for his team. But Faf’s record at Durban is concerning: 47 runs in 3 innings at an average of 15.67.
  • Kane Williamson, at the top, will look to exploit the field restrictions, and he can score big if he gets going. Kane has also looked positive at the crease in the last two matches.

  • Wiaan Mulder scored 43 runs and picked up a wicket in the first match. He will contribute with both bat and ball for JSK and will be a top C/VC option in fantasy cricket.
  • Donovan Ferreira is keeping wickets, which affects his fantasy value, as he can fetch plenty of points with his bowling and fielding alone, but despite that, he will be a great fantasy pick.
  • Ferreira averages 56 at a strike rate of 172.31, including a fifty at this venue. He has 112 runs in three games.

SA20 2025/26 6th Match: DSG vs JSK Match Prediction: Who will win?

Durban Super Giants have a quality batting unit, but they may struggle if they lose 2-3 wickets early, as after Markram, none of the batters gives that confidence. While JSK looks a little light on their bowling, as Janco Smith and Dian Forrester are quite inexperienced.

DSG, too, needs to be disciplined with the ball. But considering quality and team balance, Durban Super Giants should come out victorious in this match.
