BBL09 Match 13: MS vs AS Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | BBL09 Match Prediction Today | Melbourne Stars vs Adelaide Strikers Prediction Today | Melbourne Stars vs Adelaide Strikers Key Players | MS vs AS Dream11 Prediction

Four days after pulling off victory from the jaws of defeat, Adelaide Strikers travel to Gold Coast for a duel with arguably BBL09’s form team so far.

Melbourne Stars, on the back of two comfortable victories, have made an excellent start to the tournament. Their bowling has been superb, and now they welcome the great Dale Steyn for his BBL debut.

One can only hope for a strong crowd in the Gold Coast for this Friday night, with a number of T20 stars on show.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • Dale Steyn has arrived. He has a big role to play replacing the excellent Haris Rauf. Steyn has 246 wickets in 209 T20 matches.
  • Marcus Stoinis took advantage of some early luck to hit form in the last game. He is coming off an unbeaten 81 off 54 balls.
  • Stoinis is also the current highest scorer in Stars-Strikers matches (143 at an average of 35.75).
  • Alex Carey has 89 runs in two matches vs the Stars: 59 and 30*. He too is coming off a superb 55 off 24 balls vs the Scorchers.
  • Jake Weatherald has a poor record vs Stars (47 runs in four matches). But, he needs 10 runs to go back to the top of the BBL09 run-scoring charts. His 83 off 47 balls last game was magnificent.
  • Glenn Maxwell vs Strikers: 124 runs in five innings (average 31 and SR 167). Also, he hit a superb 83 off 39 in Carrara earlier this year.
  • Nic Maddinson looked in excellent touch last game for his 40.
  • Adam Zampa is wicketless in three games vs Strikers. But, he has five wickets in two games in BBL09.
  • Harry Conway: Surprise packet of the Aussie summer? He has taken big wickets in Shield cricket, and is coming off 2/32 last match.
  • Rashid Khan could be in the wickets as the likes of Peter Siddle and Harry Conway (if picked) could exercise some control.

Head-to-Head

Key to a Melbourne Stars win

The Stars’ batting, while steady, hasn’t quite fully fired yet in BBL09. Two scores in the 160s have been enough to get victory so far this tournament, but with the talent in their side, they would know that a little more is needed. Can the likes of Stoinis, Maddinson and Maxwell fire to get 170-180+?

Also, the Stars welcome Dale Steyn and Nathan Coulter-Nile. Both wicket-takers in T20 cricket, Steyn and Coulter-Nile can lead the way for the wrist-spinners to build further pressure against a Strikers team that needs Jake Weatherald and Alex Carey to deliver.

Key to an Adelaide Strikers win

Can Phil Salt make his mark in BBL? His poor start to the campaign has ramped the pressure on the likes of Weatherald, Carey and Wells to deliver to get a good score. If Salt can deliver a good start, the experienced players in the Strikers lineup can be even more dangerous.

Also, Peter Siddle returns after being released from the Test squad. He can provide important control to a Strikers’ attack that went the distance in the first half of the innings against the Scorchers the other day, with Rashid Khan also a crucial member of the attack.

Possible Playing 11

Nathan Coulter-Nile and Dale Steyn have been added into the Stars squad. Daniel Worrall or Clint Hinchliffe could drop out of the XI. Also, the Stars need to settle on a batting line up – Handscomb at three?

Melbourne Stars: 1. Nic Maddinson, 2. Marcus Stoinis, 3. Peter Handscomb (wk), 4. Glenn Maxwell (c), 5. Ben Dunk, 6. Hilton Cartwright, 7. Nathan Coulter-Nile, 8. Dale Steyn, 9. Adam Zampa, 10. Sandeep Lamichhane, 11. Daniel Worrall

Peter Siddle has been granted a release from the Australia Test squad. He is in line to play in this match.

Adelaide Strikers: 1. Phil Salt, 2. Jake Weatherald, 3. Matt Short, 4. Alex Carey (c & wk), 5. Jono Wells, 6. Cameron White, 7. Cameron Valente, 8. Rashid Khan, 9. Peter Siddle, 10. Wes Agar/Harry Conway, 11. Billy Stanlake

Carrara Pitch Report and Conditions

The forecast at Gold Coast looks pleasant for the evening after a couple of morning showers. In regards to the pitch, the game between Stars and Heat earlier this seasons saw Maxwell and Tom Banton play beautifully in an otherwise low-scoring match. A good pitch should be expected.

BBL09 Match 12: PS vs SS Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report

BBL09 Match 12: PS vs SS Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | BBL09 Match Prediction Today | Perth Scorchers vs Sydney Sixers Prediction Today | Perth Scorchers vs Sydney Sixers Key Players | PS vs SS Dream11 Prediction

They may have spent their Christmas meals still thinking how they lost in Adelaide.

Perth Scorchers return home for Boxing Day action after losing a game they looked almost certain to win against the Strikers. They play the Sydney Sixers for the second time in BBL09, after getting thrashed in Sydney earlier in the tournament.

However, the Sixers have been very up-and-down so far in BBL09. Who will win this one? A tough prediction makes for interesting viewing.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • Josh Philippe put the Scorchers to the sword earlier this season (81 off 44 balls).
  • Moises Henriques has the most runs in Scorchers-Sixers matches (306), but has had a quiet start to BBL09. Big game awaiting?
  • Out of all players fit to play, Sean Abbott has the most wickets in Scorchers-Sixers games (12).
  • Cameron Bancroft (87* off 60 balls) was man of the match in the corresponding game of last season’s BBL.
  • Ashton Turner has had a slow start to BBL09. However, he scored 60 (30) vs Sixers in Perth last season.
  • Daniel Hughes has also had a poor start to BBL09, but had a wonderful Marsh Cup campaign. Due a big one?
  • Josh Inglis and Liam Livingstone are coming off an outstanding opening partnership in Adelaide.
  • Incredibly, Ashton Agar is wicketless in six innings vs Sixers.
  • Mitchell Marsh scored a superb 56* (22) at Optus Stadium earlier in BBL09.
  • Ben Manenti: Six wickets in three matches in BBL09. However, can he deliver more wickets in Perth?

Head-to-Head

  • Matches 15, Scorchers 10, Sixers 5.
  • Perth Scorchers have won four straight vs Sixers in Perth.

Key to a Perth Scorchers win

The Scorchers need to bounce back after the disappointment last time out. Josh Inglis and Liam Livingstone were simply superb in getting the Scorchers off to a flyer, but more is needed from an up-and-down middle order. Can Perth get it right as a unit this time?

Also, the Scorchers attack will come up against a Sixers side that was poor vs Brisbane Heat. The seamers, including Chris Jordan, who was poor last game, have a key role to play in the powerplay against the likes of Josh Philippe. Then, the spinners can look to build more pressure in the middle.

Key to a Sydney Sixers win

It was “Lynnsane” in Sydney a few nights ago. Chris Lynn plundered the Sixers attack all over the SCG on Sunday, which requires a response from the Sixers on what is sure to be a hard-hitting Scorchers lineup in Perth. Can the likes of Sean Abbott, Ben Dwarshuis and Tom Curran lead the way?

Also, can Daniel Hughes finally fire in BBL09? The domestic One Day leading run-scorer for 2019 has had a slow start to the campaign, and the Sixers need him to get going here. If he can, the likes of Philippe, James Vince and Moises Henriques become all-the-more dangerous.

Possible Playing 11

Two changes in the Perth Scorchers 13-man squad: Matt Kelly returns from illness and local big-hitter Tim David gets a call-up.

Perth Scorchers: 1. Josh Inglis (wk), 2. Liam Livingstone, 3. Cameron Bancroft, 4. Ashton Turner, 5. Mitchell Marsh (c), 6. Cameron Green, 7. Ashton Agar, 8. Chris Jordan, 9. Matt Kelly, 10. Jhye Richardson, 11. Fawad Ahmed

Sydney Sixers have named an unchanged squad from the loss vs Brisbane Heat. However, Steve O’Keefe could line up after missing the last two games with a calf injury.

Sydney Sixers: 1. Josh Philippe (wk), 2. Daniel Hughes, 3. James Vince, 4. Moises Henriques (c), 5. Jordan Silk, 6. Hayden Kerr, 7. Tom Curran, 8. Sean Abbott, 9. Ben Dwarshuis, 10. Steve O’Keefe, 11. Ben Manenti

Perth Stadium Pitch Report and Conditions

Temperatures in the late 20s and sunny are forecast for a 4:10pm start in Perth. In regards to the Perth Stadium pitch, the first match of BBL09 at the venue saw a true pitch that resulted in a 196 vs 185 score. Another pacy, true pitch can be expected.

A very difficult game to predict. Both these teams can be brilliant on their day, but both can be poor, too.

Given Perth Scorchers have a superb record over Sydney Sixers in Perth, they are a good pick in this one.

AUS vs NZ 2nd Test Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | AUS vs NZ 2nd Test Prediction Today | Australia vs New Zealand 2nd Test Preview Dream11 Prediction | Australia vs New Zealand 2nd Test Players to Watch |
MCG Pitch Report Boxing Day 2019

The MCG pitch is topic of conversation as much as the players participating. Perhaps even more. From drab surfaces to one that saw a Sheffield Shield game abandoned due to extreme variance in bounce, it is easy to see why the MCG pitch has a lot riding on it.

Also, the Australian summer of cricket needs a good pitch. Australia have smashed all before them so far this season, including New Zealand in the first Test. The second-ranked Black Caps, who often struggle in Australia, will have their credentials well and truly tested as they look to fight back from 1-0 down in their first Boxing Day Test in Australia for 32 years.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • David Warner is reportedly fit for the Test. It is big news, as his home record is outstanding: 41 matches, 4,249 runs, average: 65.37, 17 hundreds. His MCG record: 7 matches, 551 runs, average: 45.92.
  • Marnus Labuschagne has been a revelation in 2019: 10 matches, 1,022 runs, average: 68.13. He has hit 185, 162, 143 and 50 in his last four innings.
  • Steve Smith has been uncharacteristically quiet this season. New Zealand seemed to find a strategy to him (full, wide bowling or short-pitched at Smith). But, his record at the MCG is remarkable and can be backed to come good: 6 matches, 4 hundreds, 816 runs, average: 136.
  • Kane Williamson looked good in Perth for his 34, but New Zealand need him to carry on for a big score.
  • Can New Zealand’s openers do what India did at the MCG last year? Tom Blundell will replace Jeet Raval.
  • Ross Taylor stood tall for New Zealand in Perth, scoring 80 and 22.
  • James Pattinson returns to Test cricket. New Zealand is his favourite team: 3 matches, 20 wickets, average: 17.70.
  • Mitchell Starc is arguably in career-best Test bowling form. His record at the MCG (7 wickets at 37.00) isn’t too flash, but he has 23 wickets in the last three Tests.
  • Tim Southee and Neil Wagner both took eight wickets in Perth. But, what impact will Trent Boult have?
  • Nathan Lyon at MCG: 8 matches, 27 wickets, average: 35.15.

Key to an Australia win

David Warner has been dominant this summer, along with Marnus Labuschagne. Those two in particular have wreaked havoc, and with Joe Burns and Steve Smith with plenty to offer, Australia can look forward to their top four setting a strong platform for the middle-lower order.

Also, even with the brilliant Josh Hazlewood missing with injury, Australia’s attack still looks mighty strong. Mitchell Starc has been a revelation since his change of action, with Pat Cummins constantly asking questions. James Pattinson rounds off the pace attack – a man who averages just 17 against New Zealand with the ball.

AUS vs NZ 2nd Test Preview Dream11 – Another big game from Marnus?

Key to a New Zealand win

New Zealand’s batting in Perth was a massive letdown. A team full of capable players, the Black Caps lost regular wickets far too often, rendering them unable to get into the contest after their bowlers put in a magnificent shift in the heat. The likes of Tom Latham, Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor have to lead the way.

Also, can the return of Trent Boult give New Zealand a further lift? Tim Southee and Neil Wagner were outstanding in Perth, taking 16 of the 19 Australian wickets to fall, running in ball after ball in the Perth heat. New Zealand’s bowling as a unit is key; building pressure from both ends, and this applies significantly to Mitchell Santner too, who was under-par in Perth.

Possible Playing 11

James Pattinson is ready to go for Australia. So too David Warner. Also, there are whispers that if the pitch looks really flat on match-day, Michael Neser could come in for Travis Head.

Australia: 1. Joe Burns, 2. David Warner, 3. Marnus Labuschagne, 4. Steve Smith, 5. Matthew Wade, 6. Travis Head, 7. Tim Paine (c & wk), 8. Pat Cummins, 9. Mitchell Starc, 10. James Pattinson, 11. Nathan Lyon

Jeet Raval has been dropped by New Zealand, with Tom Blundell replacing him. They have a big boost with Trent Boult ready to go. Also, could Todd Astle get the nod over Mitchell Santner?

New Zealand: 1. Tom Latham, 2. Tom Blundell, 3. Kane Williamson (c), 4. Ross Taylor, 5. Henry Nicholls, 6. BJ Watling (wk), 7. Colin de Grandhomme, 8. Mitchell Santner, 9. Tim Southee, 10. Trent Boult, 11. Neil Wagner

MCG Pitch Report and Conditions

So much talk about the pitch. There was a slight covering of grass a few days out from the Test, most of which is expected to be removed. Also, with some warm and sunny weather forecast over five days, the pitch is expected to dry out further. A bat-first surface.

BBL09 Match 11: HH vs MR Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | BBL09 Match Prediction Today | Hobart Hurricanes vs Melbourne Renegades Prediction Today | Hobart Hurricanes vs Melbourne Renegades Key Players | HH vs MR Dream11 Prediction

Christmas Eve afternoon takes a purple turn in Hobart.

Hobart Hurricanes, beaten so convincingly in Moe, welcome back the experience of George Bailey and James Faulkner for this clash. It is a welcome addition, given how badly they fell away once D’Arcy Short was dismissed last time out.

They play a Melbourne Renegades side who have been well under-par so far in BBL09. The current champions have lost two straight to begin the season, and while that is no need for panic, a win would be much-welcomed in Australia’s south.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • Aaron Finch is the leading run-scorer in Hurricanes-Renegades matches: 372 at an average of 46.50.
  • Ben McDermott (237 at 79.00), George Bailey (185 at 30.83) and Tom Cooper (144 at 28.80) are next.
  • Shaun Marsh so far in BBL09: 42 and 55. Beau Webster (67 off 37) was superb in the last match.
  • Jake Fraser-McGurk is in the Renegades squad for this match. If picked, this 17-year old is one to watch. Marcus Harris is back in the squad, and scored 50 on this ground in BBL 2017.
  • D’Arcy Short had what seemed a rare BBL failure last game (out for 9). It will still take a brave person to back against him back at home.
  • Caleb Jewell began so encouragingly vs Melbourne Stars last match: one to watch?
  • Riley Meredith (four wickets) has been superb so far in BBL09.
  • Kane Richardson (four wickets) has also made a strong start to BBL09. He also has the most wickets in Hurricanes-Renegades matches with six.
  • Qais Ahmed (five wickets in BBL09) took 2/34 and 3/33 at Hobart in last season’s BBL.

Head-to-Head

  • Matches 9, Hurricanes 3, Renegades 6.
  • Melbourne Renegades have won three of the past five meetings.

Possible Playing 11

George Bailey and James Faulkner return for this clash. The experience of Bailey in particular was significantly missed in Moe, with the middle-lower collapse making it paramount that the top order performs.

Hobart Hurricanes: 1. D’Arcy Short, 2. Caleb Jewell, 3. Ben McDermott (c & wk), 4. George Bailey, 5. David Miller, 6. Simon Milenko, 7. James Faulkner, 8. Nathan Ellis, 9. Clive Rose, 10. Qais Ahmed, 11. Riley Meredith

Marcus Harris and Jake Fraser-McGurk are in for the Melbourne Renegades. Whether either play remains to be seen. Daniel Christian has had a slow start to BBL09 – the Renegades need him to step up. So too Harry Gurney, who was poor last time out vs Scorchers.

Melbourne Renegades: 1. Aaron Finch (c), 2. Sam Harper (wk), 3. Shaun Marsh, 4. Tom Cooper, 5. Beau Webster, 6. Daniel Christian, 7. Jack Wildermuth, 8. Cameron Boyce, 9. Kane Richardson, 10. Richard Gleeson, 11. Harry Gurney

The average first innings score in T20s in Hobart in the past year is 160, which suggests that the pitch has something in it for everyone. However, batsmen will look to target the short square boundaries.

In regards to the weather, a top of 19 degrees and sunny is forecast for Hobart.

Top 5 Cricket Matches of the Decade: 2010-2019 | Best Cricket Matches of the Decade | Best Matches of Cricket in the Decade 2010-19

Written by Robin Rounder and Charbel Coorey

It is pretty incredible to believe that the decade of 2010-2019 is set to come to an end. We witnessed nine ICC tournaments (three fifty-over World Cups, four T20 World Cups and two ICC Champions trophy) in this decade.

In that time, there were some incredible international matches that we will remember for decades to come. It was quite difficult to pick the top five cricket matches of this decade, but we have had a go below.

5. India vs Bangladesh (2016 World T20)

This was a do-or-die match for India. They were in trouble after scoring a below-par total of 146 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Bangladesh, who India were expected to beat, appeared to cause another World Cup 2007-sized headache with 11 required from the final over.

After two fours from the first three balls from Mushfiqur Rahim, it looked all over for India. However, he infamously celebrated too early, and Hardik Pandya picked up two wickets in the next two balls, leaving Bangladesh needing two from the final ball.

Shuvagata Hom missed and MS Dhoni ran all the way to break the stumps before Mustafizur grounded his bat. India pulled off an incredible win by one run to progress into the Semi Final.

4. New Zealand vs South Africa (2015 ICC CWC)

This match will be remembered for raw emotions and passion for the game. South Africa came up against an in-form Kiwi side, who hadn’t yet lost a game in the 2015 Cricket World Cup.

They posted a good total of 281 runs batting first, despite the Auckland rain interrupting. New Zealand had a revised target of 298. The Black Caps lost wickets regularly at key stages, but, ultimately, South Africa missed some key chances that will stay with them and their fans. It was amazing drama.

With five needed off two deliveries, hero Grant Elliott smacked a six off Dale Steyn to win the match for Kiwis. Ian Smith was beside himself in the commentary box, as was the crowd of 50,000 at Eden Park.

Elliott finished on 84* and was deservedly Player of the Match in one of the greatest ODIs of all-time. But, an image that sticks in the mind is Elliott, in a moment of euphoria, choosing to help a dejected Steyn off the ground.

One of the best moments in one of the best cricket matches.

3. Sri Lanka vs South Africa, 1st Test 2019

This was a historic match; one that will never be forgotten.

Sri Lanka landed in South Africa with no one but their most passionate fans believing they could compete. The Lions had just completed a two-Test series in Australia, where they were beaten so comprehensively that Australia barely raised a sweat.

But, Sri Lanka found themselves at 206/5 chasing 304 for victory in the first Test. They could dream of a stunning win. However, this dream threatened to turn into a nightmare, having lost 4/20 to just about seal their fate.

However, a Kusal Perera masterclass (153*), arguably the best innings of all-time, got Sri Lanka home. He smashed South Africa’s premier bowlers to all parts of Kingsmead. Sri Lanka got home by one wicket, with the scratchy, yet able support of Vishwa Fernando (6*) at the other end.

2. The Ashes 3rd Test, 2019

Another Test match. This time the Ashes.

After wrapping up Australia for 179 in the first innings, England were rolled for an embarrassing 67 in response at Headingley.

Then, after Australia scored 246 runs in their second dig, England had an extremely tough target of 359 runs to win. England started well but then lost four quick wickets and looked out the game. At 286/9, the Ashes were all-but-gone.

But, like the World Cup Final weeks before, Ben Stokes was still at the crease. So, England were a chance. He turned the heat on Australia, who didn’t know how to react, en-route to one hell of an innings (135*) to triumph by the barest of margins, with Jack Leach at the other hand having made the best 1* in history.

This is a Test match that will be talked about for decades to come, courtesy of one of the greatest Test knocks of all-time in the Summer of Stokes.

It was the Summer of Ben Stokes in 2019

1. ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 Final

The best ODI of all-time. And Ben Stokes was at the centre of it. When the final ball was bowled (both in standard and Super Over stages), no one knew who was going to win.

This game had everything. Action. Drama. Roller-coaster of emotions. You name it.

Batting first, New Zealand posted a total of 241 runs. It certainly wasn’t a big total by today’s ODI standards, but runs on the board in a final is a different ball-game.

It proved to be the case. England’s chase ebbed-and-flowed. Regular wickets, including big guns Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root and Eoin Morgan, had the potential to see the game slip away.

But, as long as Ben Stokes was there, England had a chance. And what an innings he played. He put everything he had into every shot he played, ran hard, dived home time and time again (with one resulting in four overthrows off his bat). Amid the chaos, he stood tall.

If the final drama wasn’t enough, the game went into a Super Over. New Zealand, chasing 16 to win, hit 15, but lost the game on a boundary count.

It was a controversial issue, but enough has been discussed about it. The game of cricket itself was one of the best. This was not only the best of the decade but it was the best ODI ever played in cricket history.

If we ever witness a game of cricket like this again, we’d certainly be very lucky.

Top 5 Cricket Matches of the Decade: 2010-2019 | Best Cricket Matches of the Decade | Best Matches of Cricket in the Decade 2010-19
The best ODI of all-time saw England win their first World Cup.

So, these were our top five matches of the decade. Are there any you’d add?

BBL09 has provided fans with cricket all over Australia, including Alice Springs and Moe. Now, the beautiful Adelaide Oval will host its first match of the tournament, between two of last season’s underachievers.

Adelaide Strikers and Perth Scorchers were expected to perform a lot better than they did in BBL08. Now, both have made starts that suggest the need for further improvement, despite the Scorchers getting a crucial win last game. For the Strikers, they will be out for a positive result after smoke put a premature end to their game against the Thunder.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • Mitchell Marsh was the star for Perth Scorchers in their last game: 56 (24). Cameron Bancroft also found form last game: 51 (37).
  • Josh Inglis: Value at the top? Inglis scored a half-century in the corresponding game at Adelaide Oval last season.
  • Ashton Turner is the current leading run-scorer in Strikers-Scorchers matches: 163 (average 20.38). Due for a big one?
  • Liam Livingstone’s start last game (29): Something to build on?
  • Alex Carey’s last six scores across FC and BBL cricket: 50, 143, 13, 73, 6 and 45. Jono Wells kicked off BBL09 with a fine half century. He was also a shining light in BBL08: 359 runs at average of 44.87.
  • Jake Weatherald was superb through the off-side vs Sydney Thunder. Another good knock coming?
  • Phil Salt had a bad start to life in the BBL, but he scored 406 runs at a SR of 161.11 in the 2019 Vitality T20 Blast.
  • Chris Jordan has taken four wickets in BBL09 and is magnificent in the field. Ashton Agar has eight wickets in six games vs Strikers.
  • Rashid Khan vs Scorchers: Four matches, six wickets.

Head to Head:

  • Matches 14, Strikers 6, Scorchers 8.
  • Scorchers have won four of the past five matches, but Strikers won the most recent clash.

Key to an Adelaide Strikers win

The loss of regular wickets haunted the Strikers in BBL08, and it threatened to do so again vs Sydney Thunder. Perhaps Alex Carey at number four is too low in a T20 game, and can be better utilised in the number three spot (at the lowest). Also, Jake Weatherald, who has played fine knocks in Adelaide, will be key.

Also, did the smoke of Canberra do the Strikers a favour from a cricketing perspective? They started quite loosely with the ball, of which they need to avoid against a Scorchers side coming off a win. Billy Stanlake will be key in the powerplay to set up the game for Rashid Khan.

Key to a Perth Scorchers win

Mitchell Marsh rose to the occasion last game. His powerful ball-striking sent a reminder of the talent he does possess, and if he gets another platform here, fans in the crowd better watch out. Indeed, the key word is platform – the top order has a responsibility to provide one.

Also, Chris Jordan leads the way for the Scorchers with the ball, and in the field. Fawad Ahmed has also provided some fine value with the ball. However, the form of Jhye Richardson is a concern, and the Scorchers need him to deliver against the Strikers’ capable top and middle order.

Possible Playing 11

Peter Siddle has joined up with the Australia Test squad ahead of the Boxing Day Test. He has been replaced in the squad by legspinner Liam O’Connor.

Adelaide Strikers: 1. Jake Weatherald, 2. Phil Salt, 3. Matt Short, 4. Alex Carey (c & wk), 5. Jono Wells, 6. Cameron White, 7. Cameron Valente, 8. Rashid Khan, 9. Peter Siddle, 10. Wes Agar, 11. Billy Stanlake

Matt Kelly was ruled out of the last match with illness. He has remained at home, with Sam Whiteman replacing him in the 13-man squad.

Perth Scorchers: 1. Josh Inglis (wk), 2. Liam Livingstone, 3. Cameron Bancroft, 4. Ashton Turner, 5. Mitchell Marsh (c), 6. Chris Green, 7. Ashton Agar, 8. Chris Jordan, 9. Jhye Richardson, 10. Joel Paris, 11. Fawad Ahmed

Pitch and Conditions

The Adelaide Oval pitch is often a belter for batting. Also, the weather will be warm for the match, with a high of about 30 degrees expected by the time the first ball is bowled.

This one can really go either way.

The Scorchers have not been convincing away from home since the beginning of BBL08. For that reason, the Strikers, at home, could take this one out in a close match.

The decider. A common theme of limited-overs’ series in India in 2019.

It began with Australia in a thrilling ODI series. Then, Bangladesh and West Indies took India to a decider in T20I duels. Now, it is time for a decider in the ODI format, which has the potential to get people talking about a series of which its context is questionable.

India broke a five-game ODI losing streak at home with the most convincing of performances in Vizag. West Indies, after a fine effort in the first ODI, were horrendous in the field in the second. So, which way will this go?

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • Virat Kohli has scored four runs in two matches, which includes a golden duck.
  • Nonetheless, it will still take a brave person to back against Kohli as he is still averaging 71.66 at a strike rate of 97.06 vs West Indies.
  • Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul hit hundreds in the last match. Rohit has played two ODI knocks at Cuttack, which includes a score of 72.
  • Shreyas Iyer is proving to be quite the find at number four. In this series alone, he has either rebuilt the innings or finished superbly.
  • Shai Hope in ODIs in India: 10 ODIs, 659 runs, average: 109.83.
  • Ravindra Jadeja in ODIs at Cuttack: 3 matches, 6 wickets, average: 19.83.
  • Kuldeep Yadav is coming off a fine hat-trick in Vizag.
  • Shimron Hetmyer has performed admirably vs India in India: 106, 94, 37, 13, 9, 139 and 4 (run out).
  • Sheldon Cottrell (million dollar IPL man) had a poor outing last game. But, his first spell in the opening ODI of 5-3-12-2 is worth considering.

IND vs WI 3rd ODI Dream11: Virat Kohli to get back in the runs?

Possible Playing 11

India have injury worries. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Deepak Chahar are out, with Navdeep Saini in. Also, India could play both Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal.

India: 1. Rohit Sharma, 2. KL Rahul, 3. Virat Kohli (c), 4. Shreyas Iyer, 5. Rishabh Pant (wk), 6. Kedar Jadhav, 7. Ravindra Jadeja, 8. Kuldeep Yadav, 9. Mohammed Shami, 10. Navdeep Saini, 11. Shardul Thakur/Yuzvendra Chahal

West Indies, despite the loss last game, remain quite settled. One change they could make is Khary Pierre out for Hayden Walsh Jr.

West Indies: 1. Ewin Lewis, 2. Shai Hope (wk), 3. Shimron Hetmyer, 4. Roston Chase, 5. Nicholas Pooran, 6. Kieron Pollard (c), 7. Jason Holder, 8. Keemo Paul, 9. Alzarri Joseph, 10. Khary Pierre, 11. Sheldon Cottrell

Pitch and Conditions

The last ODI played at Cuttack was in 2017; a very high-scoring match between India and England.

However, the scoring rates in domestic T20s in Cuttack this year weren’t too high. However, Shreyas Iyer, on the eve of the match, said the pitch will quicken up with dew in the second dig. Expect the team who wins the toss to choose to chase.

BBL09 Match 9: SS vs BH Preview Dream11 Possible Playing 11 Pitch Report | BBL09 Match Prediction Today | SS vs BH Dream11 | SYS vs BRH Dream11 | Sydney Sixers vs Brisbane Heat Players to Watch | Sydney Sixers vs Brisbane Heat Dream11 Prediction

24 hours after a BBL match was called off due to smoke, the Sydney Sixers return home for their second game at the SCG in this year’s competition.

Significant smoke haze is likely to stay away from Eastern Sydney for this important clash. Sydney Sixers are out to get back to winning ways, after displaying the inconsistency they showed last season. From a huge win vs Perth to a massive collapse vs the Hurricanes, can the Sixers bounce back?

Brisbane Heat also need to bounce back. Perhaps even more so. One of the pre-tournament favourites, boasting a number of powerful batsmen, have not been too flash. Two losses in two games doesn’t spell the need for panic, but it will be good to get on the board sooner rather than later.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • Josh Philippe averages 47 in BBL games at the SCG, with a strike rate of 161. He was one the IPL Auction’s best-value buys.
  • Tom Curran is currently BBL09’s leading wicket-taker with five. Also, he has six wickets in two games vs Heat. Can he overcome a Heat lineup that could look to go after him?
  • James Vince also enjoys a good record at the SCG, and hit 75 off 46 balls in the corresponding fixture last season. Josh Lalor took a five-wicket haul in the same game.
  • Tom Banton announced himself in BBL cricket last game with 64 (36).
  • Daniel Hughes is the current leading run-scorer in Sixers-Heat games (190 runs at average of 31.67).
  • Sean Abbott has an incredible record vs Brisbane Heat: 18 wickets in seven innings (average 10.11).
  • Ben Cutting has just 93 runs in nine matches vs Sixers. Moises Henriques has scores of 64 (34) and 57 (37) in his last few knocks vs Heat.
  • Chris Lynn has had a quiet start to BBL09. Also, apart from one score of 84 vs Sixers (away from SCG), his overall record against them is underwhelming (144 runs, average 18).
  • Ben Manenti has been excellent in BBL09: Four wickets in two games. Ben Dwarshuis has the same number of wickets, too.
  • Matt Renshaw in BBL09: 26, 39 and one wicket in two overs.

Head-to-Head

  • Sydney Sixers dominate this fixture. They have won nine of 10 matches vs Heat, including the past five.
  • Brisbane Heat’s scores on their past two visits to SCG: 98 and 73.

Key to a Sydney Sixers win

The Sydney Sixers’ top order has had a good time of it vs the Heat in recent seasons. And, when you consider the form Josh Philippe is in, one can look forward to the top order making inroads at the SCG. However, can the Sixers mentally switch on after an awful collapse vs the Hurricanes?

Also, the Sixers’ bowlers have thoroughly enjoyed their time vs the Heat. They have bowled the Heat out for under 100 in two consecutive meetings at the SCG, and one gets the feeling that if the Sixers can get the better of the Heat top order, another Sixers win awaits.

BBL09 Match 9: SS vs BH Dream11 – Josh Philippe has been excellent in BBL.

Key to a Brisbane Heat win

Brisbane Heat’s top order holds such an important key to their chances. Max Bryant and Chris Lynn are yet to fire; but if they can, along with the dangerous Tom Banton, the Heat can look at a big total. However, if their middle order is exposed as has been the case in the first two games, it can be too difficult to come back from.

Also, can the Heat bowlers restrict the Sixers’ top order? The Sixers have shown in recent seasons that they are susceptible to a collapse or two, so plenty of onus rests on the Heat bowlers to make inroads at all stages of the innings.

Steve O’Keefe missed the match vs Hobart Hurricanes in Alice Springs due to a calf injury. He is in the squad, but remains to be seen whether he is fit for this match.

Sydney Sixers: 1. Josh Philippe (wk), 2. Daniel Hughes, 3. James Vince, 4. Moises Henriques (c), 5. Jordan Silk, 6. Hayden Kerr, 7. Tom Curran, 8. Sean Abbott, 9. Ben Dwarshuis, 10. Ben Manenti, 11. Steve O’Keefe/Jackson Bird

Brisbane Heat have made one change to their 13-man squad. Spinner Matt Kuhnemann comes in for Cameron Gannon.

Brisbane Heat: 1. Tom Banton, 2. Max Bryant, 3. Chris Lynn (c), 4. Matt Renshaw, 5. Ben Cutting, 6. Sam Heazlett, 7. Jimmy Peirson (wk), 8. Josh Lalor, 9. Mitchell Swepson, 10. Ben Laughlin, 11. Zahir Khan

Pitch and Conditions

Temperatures are pleasant on Sunday in Sydney compared to Saturday. However, the smoke haze continues to linger in what is currently one of the worst spate of bushfires the country has ever seen.

In terms of the pitch, the SCG is typically on the slower side. However, as Josh Philippe showed, proactive batting is possible.

From Alice Springs to Moe, the Big Bash League brings cricket to regional areas of Australia.

Hobart Hurricanes will be involved in the season’s first two games in regional Australia, this time in country Victoria. It was some victory in Alice Springs, led by one of the great BBL spells from Qais Ahmed. However, whether they can deal well with a short turnaround less than 48 hours since the heat of Alice Springs remains to be seen.

But, Melbourne Stars are in a similar boat. Winners on the Gold Coast on Friday night, the Stars return to a ground where they had some success at last season. Glenn Maxwell made a big statement last game with the bat, of which the bowlers followed up well despite the brilliance of Tom Banton. Can they make it two straight wins?

Also read: Check out CricBlog’s coverage of international cricket: India vs West Indies 3rd ODI Preview and Dream11 Prediction

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • Glenn Maxwell is coming off one of his finest BBL knocks. Also, he enjoys playing the Hurricanes: 247 runs at an avg. of 61 and SR 162.50.
  • D’Arcy Short, leading run-scorer of the past two seasons, has kicked off BBL09 with a 50+ score. A crucial player in this clash.
  • Marcus Stoinis didn’t bowl for the Stars last game, but his batting remains a threat. He scored 533 runs at 53.30 in BBL08.
  • Qais Ahmed is coming off a memorable spell of 4/12. Also, he took 3/33 vs Stars last season, and will be a threat on the slower Moe pitch.
  • Watch out for Adam Zampa on the Moe track. He is coming off a three-fer vs Heat.
  • Daniel Worrall (4/23) was man-of-the-match the last time Stars played the Hurricanes.
  • Simon Milenko provided value for the Hurricanes last game (2/29).
  • Haris Rauf made a fine start to BBL cricket last game (2/20).

Head-to-Head:

  • Matches 11, Stars 7, Hurricanes 4.
  • The Stars won the last meeting vs Hurricanes, which was the qualifying match into last year’s Final.
  • Note: George Bailey and James Faulkner are out for the Hurricanes.

Key to a Melbourne Stars win

Glenn Maxwell rescued the Stars’ flailing innings vs the Heat. On a Moe pitch expected to slow down as the match progresses, the onus is on the top order to fare better than they did in their first match to set a platform for the middle order.

Also, one gets the feeling that this Stars’ bowling attack will enjoy bowling on the Moe pitch. Slower in nature, the spinners, as well as the likes of Daniel Worrall and Haris Rauf, can work at restricting the Hurricanes’ scoring, much like the Sixers did two days ago in Alice Springs.

Key to a Hobart Hurricanes win

No George Bailey means plenty rests on D’Arcy Short, Ben McDermott and David Miller. Short was strong on a slow Alice Springs pitch, but more is needed from a Hurricanes middle order that couldn’t quite get going last time out. Can they fare better in what could be a similar pitch?

But, with Qais Ahmed in such form, anything is possible. His magnificent 4/12 paved the way for a stunning win vs the Sixers, and if he can weave his magic again, the Hurricanes are in with a chance. Also, can the likes of Riley Meredith and Simon Milenko provide able support again?

Possible Playing 11

George Bailey and James Faulkner have been ruled out of this clash. Jake Doran and David Moody come into the squad.

Hobart Hurricanes: 1. D’Arcy Short, 2. Caleb Jewell, 3. Ben McDermott (c & wk), 4. David Miller, 5. Mac Wright, 6. Simon Milenko, 7. David Moody/Tom Rogers, 8. Nathan Ellis, 9. Qais Ahmed, 10. Clive Rose, 11. Riley Meredith

For Melbourne Stars, Jonathan Merlo comes into the 13-man squad for Nathan Coulter-Nile, who has an ankle injury. In terms of the playing XI, it could be the same as the win vs Heat.

Melbourne Stars: 1. Nic Maddinson, 2. Marcus Stoinis, 3. Hilton Cartwright, 4. Peter Handscomb (wk), 5. Glenn Maxwell (c), 6. Ben Dunk, 7. Clint Hinchliffe/Jonathan Merlo, 8. Adam Zampa, 9. Daniel Worrall, 10. Haris Rauf, 11. Sandeep Lamichhane

Pitch and Conditions

A nice, sunny afternoon is forecast for Moe (25 degrees). In terms of the pitch, the game last season saw quite a slow track, with the Stars bowlers rewarded for bowling into the pitch.

Two teams who disappointed in their respective first matches go head-to-head in Perth.

But, no one disappointed more than Perth Scorchers, who were horrendous against Sydney Sixers. The wounds of last season seemed to open up, and the men in orange need to heal it quickly with victory at home.

While Melbourne Renegades weren’t as bad as the Scorchers, their fielding was amateurish against Sydney Thunder; key misfields and dropped catches cost them as they lost with two balls to spare. Can the Renegades, one of the tournament favourites, get a win?

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

  • The main story here is Shaun Marsh returning to Perth to play his old team. He scored a superb 96* at Optus Stadium last season.
  • Aaron Finch is the current leading run-scorer for Renegades vs Scorchers (193). However, he only averages 21.
  • Dan Christian took 3/22 and 4/20 against the Scorchers last season.
  • Sam Harper started BBL09 in exciting fashion, slamming 39 (19) vs Sydney Thunder. Also, he has two 30+ scores vs Scorchers in two knocks.
  • Liam Livingstone was unlucky in the opening game, but he needs to build on recent T20 starts: 25, 39, 8, 27, 8, 10.
  • Josh Inglis threatened with 22 vs Sydney Sixers, failing to carry on. Worth keeping an eye on here? His last 12 scores across competitions: 51, 44, 42, 40, 58, 4, 2, 2, 46, 91, 1, 22.
  • Ashton Agar has the most wickets for Scorchers vs Renegades out of the current Perth squad (4).
  • Kane Richardson vs Perth Scorchers in BBL08: 1/6 and 3/23.
  • Chris Jordan took two wickets on his Scorchers debut.

Head-to-Head

  • Matches: 10, Scorchers 8, Renegades 2.
  • Melbourne Renegades have won the last two matches, bowling the Scorchers out for 79 and 103 last season.

Key to a Perth Scorchers win

Jason Behrendhorff and Andrew Tye, the Scorchers’ two most prolific wicket-takers vs the Renegades (10 each), are out with injury. So, can the inexperienced but talented bowling attack rise to the occasion at home? Chris Jordan was the only bowler to deliver some control vs the Sixers; now it’s time for the bowling unit to deliver as one.

Also, the batting left so much to be desired against the Sixers. The top order, which contains experience and talent, failed to deliver, forcing the middle-lower order to scratch away to 131. Against a disciplined Renegades attack, it is vital that the top order makes a strong start.

Key to a Melbourne Renegades win

How bad was the Renegades’ fielding effort against the Thunder? Some terrible errors eventually cost them the game, and that will be a key area of focus for Aaron Finch’s team. With the Scorchers’ batting under the spotlight, building pressure with the ball will be the order of the day.

Also, can the top order make another solid start, which can then be backed up a little better by the middle order? The Renegades scored at seven an over in the last 10 overs against the Thunder, which ultimately saw them fall just short of a winning total.

Possible Playing 11

Perth Scorchers have made one change to their 13-man squad from the Sixers game. Pacer Liam Guthrie comes in for keeper-batsman Sam Whiteman. Possible 11:

Perth Scorchers: 1. Josh Inglis (wk), 2. Liam Livingstone, 3. Cameron Bancroft, 4. Mitchell Marsh (c), 5. Ashton Turner, 6. Cameron Green, 7. Ashton Agar, 8. Chris Jordan, 9. Jhye Richardson, 10. Matt Kelly, 11. Fawad Ahmed

Melbourne Renegades have also made one change to their 13-man squad from the last game. Spinner Tom Andrews comes in for batsman Alex Doolan. Possible 11:

Melbourne Renegades: 1. Sam Harper (wk), 2. Aaron Finch, 3. Shaun Marsh, 4. Tom Cooper, 5. Daniel Christian, 6. Beau Webster, 7. Jack Wildermuth, 8. Cameron Boyce, 9. Kane Richardson, 10. Richard Gleeson, 11. Harry Gurney

Pitch and Conditions

The temperature is forecast to cool down to the mid-20’s by the time the first ball is bowled (6:10pm local Perth time). In regards to the pitch, the recent Test between Australia and New Zealand had some nice bounce and carry in it. This was the case in BBL08, too.
