IPL 2019: MI vs CSK Preview Dream11 Prediction

IPL 2019: MI vs CSK Preview Dream11 Prediction. Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings Preview Dream11 Prediction

The two most successful IPL teams go head-to-head. It is always a big game when two of the most famous T20 franchises go at it to gain bragging rights.

It is an even bigger game considering the predicament Mumbai Indians are in. You get the feeling MI need to wake up after failing to qualify for the playoffs last season, with a couple of eyebrow-raising selections hurting their progress so far in IPL 2019. They have made another slow start to a campaign, and have to topple the defending champions (and still undefeated) CSK.

Chennai Super Kings are looking clinical once again. Each player knows their role under the leadership of MS Dhoni. In what is an ominous sign for other teams, CSK’s top order still hasn’t quite fired yet, which has not stopped them winning all games so far. They return to Wankhede Stadium, where they made their return to IPL last season. Can they repeat the result, where they secured an amazing win?

Key to a MI win

MI have been relatively strong with the bat in the powerplay and death overs so far in IPL 2019. However, their middle overs batting has been cause of lost momentum, which was nearly very costly vs RCB and then mighty costly vs KXIP. Kieron Pollard is under pressure to keep his place, so much so that MI will be better served playing the talented Ishan Kishan for much needed impetus in the middle order. Against an experienced CSK side, can MI master their batting effort across all three stages? With Rohit Sharma, Quinton de Kock and Hardik Pandya all in good touch, a strong powerplay and death period is possible, but the middle overs are key.

Also, MI’s bowling has been under par. Bar Jasprit Bumrah, MI’s bowlers have largely been expensive, which again puts pressure on team management to get the make up of the bowling lineup correct. Jason Behrendhorff will now be available, and he could be a key man in the powerplay overs against CSK’s strong top order. With the Pandya brothers also key, MI need a cohesive bowling effort to overcome CSK, who showed they can dominate even after a poor start. Can MI properly kickstart their IPL 2019 campaign?

Key to a CSK win

Ambati Rayudu and Shane Watson, two key players in CSK’s glorious 2018 campaign, haven’t got going yet in IPL 2019. These two players have the ability to cause further trouble for MI, whose bowlers look short on confidence now. With Suresh Raina threatening to hit top form, MS Dhoni being MS Dhoni and Dwayne Bravo returning to the ground where he pulled off a heist, CSK will be hoping for a better start than they got vs RR. Can they cause further headaches for MI?

Also, CSK have the resources to hurt MI in those middle overs. However, with Deepak Chahar continuing his excellent form in the powerplay, MS Dhoni will be out to get the better of MI’s strong opening partnership. MI have enjoyed strong starts this season, and if CSK can counter this, it puts significant pressure on the MI middle order, who have struggled so far in IPL 2019. Can CSK put together another efficient display?

Possible Playing 11

MI have decisions to make. The Yuvraj Singh-Kieron Pollard combination has not worked so far. One of them could miss out for Ishan Kishan. Also, Jason Behrendhorff is now on deck for MI, and could replace the misfiring Mitchell McGlenaghan.

MI: 1. Rohit Sharma (c), 2. Quinton de Kock (wk), 3. Suryakumar Yadav, 4. Yuvraj Singh, 5. Ishan Kishan/Kieron Pollard, 6. Hardik Pandya, 7. Krunal Pandya, 8. Mayank Markande, 9. Jason Behrendhorff, 10. Jasprit Bumrah, 11. Lasith Malinga

CSK have won three games in a row, so they will surely guard against any significant changes.

CSK: 1. Shane Watson, 2. Ambati Rayudu, 3. Suresh Raina, 4. Kedar Jadhav, 5. MS Dhoni (c & wk), 6. Dwayne Bravo, 7. Ravindra Jadeja, 8. Deepak Chahar, 9. Shardul Thakur, 10. Harbhajan Singh, 11. Imran Tahir

Dream11 Prediction

Opinion: Did Dream11 make the right decision changing the deadline time?

Key stats and points:

  • Who will be MI’s keeper? Ishan Kishan could play, which makes him a decent option. He scored 40 (29) vs CSK at Mumbai in IPL 2018.
  • However, Quinton de Kock has been in good touch in IPL 2019 (27, 23 and 60). So too MS Dhoni, who has scores of 32* and 75* so far. Also, Dhoni enjoys playing MI, averaging 36.00 in 26 innings, with a SR of 136.30.
  • Rohit Sharma was man of the match the last time MI played CSK. His 56* (33) is part of a decent overall record vs CSK, where he averages above 30 in 23 innings.
  • Is Yuvraj Singh worth persisting with? He has made starts (including one fifty) in each of his three innings so far in IPL 2019.
  • Suryakumar Yadav vs CSK in IPL 2018: 43 (29) and 44 (34).
  • Shane Watson has had a relatively quiet start to IPL 2019 (0, 44, 13). Also, his record vs MI is moderate, averaging 22.44 in 17 knocks. Pick him if you feel it’s his day.
  • Ambati Rayudu has also had a quiet start (28, 5, 1). His last score vs MI was 46 (35), and he was terrific overall in IPL 2018. Keep the faith?
  • Kedar Jadhav averages 25.00 in eight innings vs MI (HS of just 28 with four not outs). Suresh Raina is the better option to go for, as he possesses a strong record vs MI (787 runs in 28 innings, with an average of 35.77 and SR 145.47).
  • Hardik Pandya has been expensive with the ball in IPL 2019. However, his batting has been superb, striking at 180.00 so far.
  • Dwayne Bravo returns to the Wankhede, where he hit 68 (30) to pull off an amazing win for CSK last season. He also took 3/33 vs DC in IPL 2019.
  • Jasprit Bumrah has four wickets so far in IPL 2019.
  • Deepak Chahar took 2/19 (4) vs RR last match. This follows on from his 1/20 (4) vs DC.
  • Ravindra Jadeja could be one to avoid. He has taken 11 wickets in 23 matches (50 overs) vs MI. Mitchell Santner also had a tough night last game, taking 0/26 off two overs.
  • Mayank Markande took 3/23 vs CSK at the Wankhede last season. Worth going for?
  • Harbhajan Singh has taken 49 IPL wickets at the Wankhede Stadium.
  • Jason Behrendhorff, who could play, averages 18.60 in T20 powerplays, with an economy of 6.20.
  • Lasith Malinga has taken 23 wickets vs CSK at an average of 19. However, his form has been a little wayward, so pick if you feel confident.

Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-Head: Matches 24, MI 13, CSK 11.
  • MI have won four of the last five matches against CSK.
  • Both sides won a game each against each other last season, with MI winning easily vs CSK in Pune.

Match Prediction

What a game this promises to be between the two most successful teams in IPL.

MI need to get back on track. CSK look very clinical. However, with MI possessing a good record of late vs CSK, plus the likelihood of making key changes, I think MI will get a crucial victory over one of the benchmark teams.

Funny Cricket Tweets March 2019 Edition

Funny Cricket Tweets March 2019 edition

Yes, it’s back.

Funny cricket tweets is here again, after a bit of a hiatus. Sure, things can get busy, but that’s never an excuse for not showcasing some of the brilliance you see on Twitter from cricket fans. If it’s not an argument or fans mentioning the wrong people when ball tampering or mankad happens, you can have a laugh at proper gold.

With the intention of making this a weekly piece again, I will go through some of the best tweets for March. From next week, it will be weekly. If it’s not, pull me up on it on Twitter (@CricBlog_). Question me as a person as Shane Warne questioned R Ashwin.

Plenty happened in March, including the PSL, IPL, a mankad, Duanne Olivier wanting to become British, and of course Australia’s series wins against India and Pakistan.

Below are 20 great tweets for you to feast your eyes on. Kudos to all who put them together!

#1: Back to primary school, mate

As mentioned in my Pakistan vs Australia ODI Series Player Ratings, I think Imam is a good player. However, he has room for a little more maturity. Just imagining Imam-ul-Haq giving it to other students and guests in the primary school playground. Last part of the tweet had me laughing, @RashidRaajput!

#2: What are you guys talking about?

I love a good caption. Especially when the kid is wearing RCB colours. This one from @Sahil_Adhikaari had me in stitches. A superb cricketer, Virat Kohli could age five years during this IPL. Poor Virat is wondering why everyone is going crazy. And, the way RCB are going in IPL 2019, it is likely to continue for yet another year.

#3: Daniel, mate, it’s the top four

Daniel Alexander put up a tweet for the ages last week. Taking up stand up comedy, Daniel had fellow cricket fans in stitches. Until @pprajapati070 reminded him that it the bottom four teams don’t qualify for the semis. Be careful though Parth, Australia are coming! For your info, it’s a hilarious tweet!

#4: Play World Cup players? What for?

Oh, Inzy… Yes, Pakistan just completed an action-packed PSL tournament, but resting over half of the first-choice team in the last series before a World Cup is an eyebrow raiser. @PSLMemesWalay reckons Inzi is set for life when it comes to “dumbest thing you have ever done” confessions!

#5: The Prime Minister to weigh in…

Who can forget the mankad? No one can, after India Prime Minister addressed the nation about it. Hilarious, @suneerchowdhary!

#6: The timing…

You should see the timing of this. @imsgshinde2 predicted Vikrant Gupta would be going crazy with Harbhajan taking three wickets against RCB in the IPL 2019 opener. Guess what tweet showed up at the same time?

#7: “I want to talk to you all about loyalty”

https://twitter.com/EssexLeague/status/1108646759927111680

So, how about Duanne Olivier? He leaves South Africa to take up a Kolpak Deal, and then expresses his desire to play for England. Remember Duanne, South Africa made you. @EssexLeague has given Paddy’s a great idea for an ambassador. Duanne is perfect for the “loyalty’s dead” campaign!

#8: We can do it! Ah, no we can’t…

https://twitter.com/CrickPotato1/status/1108430491961589760?s=19&fbclid=IwAR19z7eBXMwcCH_OP8umCi-o0OismyoNGV3HN2fWE6AnocIfZLbnylR7hXE

Before IPL 2019, I posed the question whether RCB can win the title this season. Now, I know I was part of the 99.99% who at least have a soft spot for RCB and believe they could do it. The other 0.01% have played as if they know they can’t do it. Hilarious stuff from @CrickPotato1.

#9: OK, I will make sure of it…

Nothing hurts like RCB. Turning off the TV is the best way to ensure no pain. @FarziCricketer is known for quality, funny tweets, and this is no exception. Cheeky.

#10: Our expectations were low for you, but still…

I don’t mean to bash on RCB. However, with such riches, superstar players and huge fanbase, they are huge underachievers. So much so that expectations get lower every season, but disappointment still occurs! @IndianCaptain is another quality account, where you are sure to have a laugh scrolling through.

#11: Still keen to babysit?

I ask Star Sports to put together an over-confident advertising campaign ahead of the Australia vs India World Cup campaign. They tend to be a bad luck charm for India, and this was no different. Thank you to @AnuragN61265128 for reminding us of the ad, and making us laugh too. 2-0 up, 3-2 down! Thanks Sehwag!

#12: The question on everyone’s mind…

@suneerchowdhary makes a second appearance. Gentlemen, if she answers “Vijay Shankar”, cut to the chase and marry her. Ladies, if he answers “Vijay Shankar,” cut to chase and marry him.

#13: EPIC

*Tweet saved*. *Screenshot taken*. *Straight to funny tweets*. @_Blindinho_ makes it easy for producers when thinking of what to call the RCB documentary. No Title! Again, I apologise for all the RCB. It’s just that they are the funniest tweets. Don’t blame me, blame the tweeters!

#14: “Yep, he’s different now. Bring him back”

If you think this was bad, you should have seen Umar Akmal’s fielding. However, @mirzalalbaig hit the nail on the head, while providing a good laugh. Honestly, those shots are examples of what club cricketers should look to avoid. How frustrating is Umar Akmal?

#15: Man of the series!

Really nice touch giving Ravi Shastri the man of the series award against Australia. He was one of Australia’s best, failing to lock down the number four spot, batting in-form Vijay Shankar down the order. Thanks, from @ankit34099237 and I!

#16: You aren’t playing club cricket, guys

@Eme2ul and I have been following each other for a while. However, if I wasn’t following him, this tweet would have had me hitting the follow button faster than the mind could imagine. Virat Kohli told the umpires this is IPL, not club cricket after a last-ball no-ball was missed vs MI. The umpire then questioned RCB’s playing standards vs SRH. Gold. What a tweet.

#17: Whitewash!

The Pakistan vs Australia series was sponsored by Head and Shoulders. But, Pakistan couldn’t wash away their tendency to grab defeat from the jaws of victory. The saving grace though, is Brighto Paints delivering a product worthy of the series – a White Wash. Quality stuff from @saqibfarshori – a good laugh!

#18: You’re not looking…

Still remember the Ashwin mankad? Who can forget. Here is R Ashwin looking to be sneaky with attention elsewhere. Gold from @sagarcasm!

Sneaky? Not anymore. Keep an eye on Jos Buttler the next time he plays Ravi Ashwin. He’ll have this face. Quality stuff from @dBigDangTheory!

#20: Jaydev, the King!

Jaydev Unadkat took 0/54 in his most recent match vs CSK. A reminder from @1sInto2s he remains one of the most expensive picks. Well done Jaydev, you’re a legend! I’m sure there will be pictures of him laughing on his way to the bank.

IPL 2019: RR vs RCB Preview Dream11 Prediction

IPL 2019: RR vs RCB Preview Dream11 Prediction. Rajasthan Royals vs Royal Challengers Bangalore Preview Dream11 Prediction

Co-written by N.S. Shekhawat

Two top four challengers fighting it out at the bottom. With both sides sitting on no wins, we are already heading into must-win territory. If you begin falling too far behind the pack, chances of catching up are slim, given how competitive IPL 2019 looks.

Rajasthan Royals have played good cricket at times this season. However, they have not built on their good moments. They had their chances against CSK, failing to chase the target of 176, even with dew all over the place. Also, RR need Steve Smith to fire, after scoring 28 off 30 balls, in conjunction with Jaydev Unadkat who continues to not justify his price tag. Can RR get their first win?

Imagine having Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Shimron Hetmyer among others and not winning a single game. You have to feel sorry for Royal Challengers Bangalore fans as they sit bottom with a net run rate of -2.413. They are a team with superstar players, but are not a superstar team. This game could be one where they change their combinations, such as Virat Kohli opening, Heinrich Klaasen possibly getting a chance, and so too Tim Southee and Marcus Stoinis (if available). They need their bowlers to deliver what seems like a miracle right now. Can RCB get their season going?

Key to a RR win

Playing in home conditions, backed by a strong record at Sawai Masingh Stadium, RR have to back themselves with the bat. They had the start from hell against CSK, with the middle order rallying to give them some sort of chance to chase the target of 176. Here, against an RCB attack looking shot on confidence, Ajinkya Rahane, Jos Buttler and second-game centurion Sanju Samson will be key in delivering a strong start. With the likes of Rahul Tripathi, Steve Smith and Ben Stokes in the ranks, RR have what it takes to put together a strong batting performance.

There has also been promising signs with the ball. Dhawal Kulkarni has been solid in the powerplay, in conjunction with Jofra Archer who has had an excellent start to IPL 2019. However, RR would be wise to utilise their spinners, who ran riot vs RCB at Sawai Masingh Stadium in the crunch match before the IPL 2018 playoffs. With Jaydev Unadkat struggling again, the onus is also on he and the seamers to provide good support in the bowling attack. Can RR get the better of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers to pile the pressure on RCB’s remaining batsmen?

AP Photo/Rafiq Maqbool. RR vs RCB Preview Dream11 – Will Jos Buttler fire vs the struggling RCB attack?

Key to an RCB win

“Nothing went right for us from ball one”, said skipper Virat Kohli. RCB’s bowling was always going to be an issue for them heading into the tournament. It has been an issue for years. Tonight, though, their bowlers have to step up and win the battle against RR’s top order, lead by the dangerous Jos Buttler. Umesh Yadav, mighty expensive vs SRH, has to bounce back, along with the rest of the bowling attack that went the distance. Surely the time for Tim Southee or Nathan Coulter-Nile?

Also, while the bowling has been poor, the batting certainly hasn’t been much better. They were bowled out for 70 on the opening night, albeit on a difficult Chennai track. Then, on a pitch where both Jonny Bairstow and David Warner smashed centuries, only one batsman in the top six made double figures (Parthiv Patel: 11). Tonight, the stage is set for AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli, along with Shimron Hetmyer (if picked) who has not delivered so far in IPL 2019. Will RCB have a good night out vs an RR side that can be expensive?

Possible Playing 11

Ashton Turner is now available for RR. N.S. Shekhawat believes that RR should play him over Steve Smith. However, I feel RR will persist with the former Australian captain.

RR: 1. Ajinkya Rahane (c), 2. Jos Buttler (wk), 3. Sanju Samson, 4. Rahul Tripathi, 5. Steven Smith, 6. Ben Stokes, 7. K Gowtham, 8. Shreyas Gopal, 9. Jofra Archer, 10. Jaydev Unadkat, 11. Varun Aaron

There could be a host of changes for RCB. Marcus Stoinis could be available, and might replace Colin de Grandhomme. Also, Nathan Coulter-Nile has linked up with the squad, and could replace the misfiring Moeen Ali. As result there might not be room for Tim Southee again.

N.S. Shekhawat’s RCB XI: 1. V Kohli (c), 2. Heinrich Klaasen (wk), 3. Gurkeerat Singh Mann, 4. AB de Villiers, 5. Shivam Dube, 6. Marcus Stoinis/Colin de Grandhomme, 7. Washington Sundar, 8. Umesh Yadav, 9. Yuzvendra Chahal, 10. Tim Southee, 11. N Saini

My RCB XI: 1. Parthiv Patel (wk), 2. Virat Kohli (c), 3. AB de Villiers, 4. Shimron Hetmyer, 5. Shivam Dube, 6. Marcus Stoinis/Colin de Grandhomme, 7. Prayas Ray Burman, 8. Nathan Coulter-Nile/Tim Southee, 9. Umesh Yadav, 10. Mohammad Siraj, 11. Yuzvendra Chahal

Dream11 Prediction

Opinion: Did Dream11 make the right call to change the deadline time?

Key stats and points:

  • Jos Buttler has much higher points ceiling than Parthiv Patel. Also, Patel averages just 21 vs RR in 14 matches. Jos Buttler strikes at 176.92 in five matches vs RCB (avg 28.75).
  • Virat Kohli, surprisingly, has a poor record vs RR. In 17 matches, he has scored 319 runs at 21.27, with SR of 102.24. However, a champion can never be written off.
  • AB de Villiers could be the better pick, averaging 46.50 (SR 140.55) vs RR in 15 innings.
  • Rahul Tripathi offers fine value. He scored 80* (58) in his last innings vs RCB, and is coming off 39 (24) vs CSK.
  • Ajinkya Rahane is worth considering. He has three fifties and a century vs RCB in 17 innings. This is his only IPL hundred.
  • Sanju Samson scored a golden duck last time out vs RCB, but he did score 92* (45) in the first meeting of IPL 2018. He scored a century vs SRH just two matches ago.
  • Ben Stokes could be starting to find his feet, looking to build on his four wickets in three games, plus his excellent 46 (26) vs CSK last game.
  • Marcus Stoinis had a poor series vs Pakistan. However, he did have an amazing BBL campaign, averaging 62.40 in ten games as opening batsman. Will he fire right away?
  • Shreyas Gopal vs RCB in IPL 2018: 8 overs, 38 runs, 6 wickets.
  • Jofra Archer was expensive vs CSK, but his other two games read: 8 overs, 34 runs, 2 wickets. He also scored a brisk 24* vs CSK, so can bat if needed.
  • Umesh Yadav took 3/25 at this ground in IPL 2018.
  • Nathan Coulter-Nile averages 15.20 in IPL. Also, he averages 14.40 in the death overs.

Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-Head: Matches 18, RR 9, RCB 8, NR 1
  • RCB have won just four of 14 IPL games outside of Bengaluru since the start of IPL 2017.
  • Virat Kohli will captain his 100th IPL game today. He will be the third to achieve this behind MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir.
  • Jofra Archer has an economy rate of 6.30. The other RR seamers have an economy of 11.30 combined.
  • RR won a playoffs spot over RCB last season with a 30-run win at Sawai Masingh Stadium.

Match Prediction

A tough one to pick.

RR have been in all three of their matches, failing to win the crucial moments. RCB were unlucky not to beat MI, but are on the mat after two thrashings away from home.

They have quality in their side, but they are just not firing, which is why I will pick RR to win at their beloved home ground.

Pakistan vs Australia ODI Series Player Ratings

Pakistan vs Australia ODI Series Player Ratings. PAK vs AUS Player Ratings

Head and Shoulders sponsored the now concluded Pakistan vs Australia series.

Unfortunately for Pakistan, they couldn’t wash away their poor record vs top eight ODI opposition since 2018. Worse, they couldn’t wash away their ability to botch chases. In a series where they basically conceded defeat after two games when Shoaib Malik offered everyone cute participation trophies, many of Pakistan’s bench players didn’t inspire any confidence. Indeed, Ramiz Raja sounded much more excited as his side demolished a depleted Zimbabwe last year.

The opposite can be said of Australia. The sight of Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshar Kumar targeting Aaron Finch’s front pad with success now seems a long while ago, with the Aussie skipper winning man of the series. World, beware, Australia is peaking at the right time!

In this series, I will go rate each player out of ten. If you’ve my player ratings before, you’ll know they are a light-hearted review of the action. If this is your first time reading such an article, enjoy!

Abid Ali: 2 matches, 112 runs, average: 56.00, SR: 93.33

Debutant Abid Ali showcased Pakistan in two matches. Brilliant century in one match, followed by a golden duck. He would fit in nicely. Still outscored his opening partner Masood, who played five games.

However, there was plenty to be encouraged about in his fourth ODI effort. So much so that Imam-ul-Haq was a little nervous… 7

Haris Sohail: 5 matches, 291 runs, average: 72.75, SR: 85.84. 1 wicket, average: 75.00, econ: 5.35

“Mr. Sohail, your plane seat to England is now ready. Please board the plane.” Haris finished second to Aaron Finch in the top runs chart for the series. If Pakistan can get more out of their openers, they have an excellent foil in Haris. 9

Umar Akmal: 5 matches, 150 runs, average: 30.00, SR: 88.23

Umar Akmal let this opportunity slip like he lets the ball through when fielding. It was a disappointing return to the side for Akmal, promising quite a bit but not offering anything substantial. Some of his strokeplay is something even park cricketers would want nothing to do with! 5

Imad Wasim: 5 matches, 141 runs, average: 70.50, SR: 122.60. 3 wickets, average: 83.66, econ: 5.34

Led the side in the absence of Shoaib Malik, who might have been organising those participation trophies. Wasim was excellent down the order for Pakistan, and bowled well in patches. However, his bowling figures need improving. 6.5

Yasir Shah: 5 matches, 4 wickets, average: 70.75, econ: 5.66

Had an awful start to the series, and then improved slowly as it went on. However, surely Pakistan will keep Yasir for Tests only when Shadab Khan comes back. 3

Usman Khan Shinwari: 3 matches, 5 wickets, average: 27.80, econ: 4.79

Aaron Finch and Usman Khawaja were having net sessions until Usman Khan Shinwari entered the scene. It was a massive mistake by Pakistan to leave him out of the first two ODIs, as he is a wicket taker. The proof? He was Pakistan’s leading wicket taker, playing three games. 7

Junaid Khan: 3 matches, 4 wickets, average: 44.50, econ: 6.35

Effort. In the end, though, Australia got the better of him. 4

Mohammad Abbas: 3 matches, 1 wicket, average: 153.00, econ: 5.66

Should Mickey Arthur give another chance to youngster Mohammad Hasnain after finally picking up wickets? No.

What about Mohammad Amir who needs time in the middle? No.

A red-ball bowler who stands little chance in this format? Bingo! 1

Other squad players:

Shoaib Malik: 3 matches, 102 runs, average: 34.00, SR: 86.44

One thing the captain must do is instill belief into his players. Not sure Malik did that. 4

Imam-ul-Haq: 3 matches, 63 runs, average: 21.00, SR: 60.57

Imam can be the subject of jokes on social media, but I still rate him. He was strong vs South Africa earlier this year, which makes this series performance disappointing. 2

Mohammad Hasnain: 3 matches, 2 wickets, average: 78.00, econ: 6.78

Tough initiation to international cricket. Has the attributes to be successful, but needs to be backed by those around him. 2

Faheem Ashraf: 2 matches, 42 runs, average: 21.00, SR: 105.00. 1 wicket, average: 95 runs, econ: 5.04

Had a fine PSL campaign did Faheem, but wasn’t able to transfer it to the Pakistan ODIs. Rested after the huge tally of one wicket. 2

Australia

Usman Khawaja: 5 matches, 272 runs, average: 54.50, SR: 81.43

The call for Uzzie to be Australian PM after the India series still stands. With David Warner in outstanding form in the IPL, Usman Khawaja has created a big headache for selectors with two fantastic ODI campaigns vs India and Pakistan. The only blemish in this series was getting so close to a hundred. 9

Aaron Finch: 5 matches, 451 runs, average: 112.75, SR: 85.90. 1 wicket, average: 60.00, econ: 5.00

It was a long summer watching Finch’s pads get targeted. But, form has been found. Finch is back, building on his promising series in India. Australia can go to the World Cup with their captain set. It was a brilliant series for Finch, both with the bat and as a leader. 10

Shaun Marsh: 5 matches, 182 runs, average: 60.66, SR: 80.88

The stats look brilliant, but the performance wasn’t quite. Marsh in the first and last ODIs was excellent, but he wasn’t quite on form in the middle matches. However, there is no doubt he will be on the plane to England. Does he make the first XI? Remains to be seen. 7.5

Peter Handscomb: 5 matches, 92 runs, average: 30.66, SR: 106.97

Opportunities were limited this series, but Peter Handscomb has also booked that plane ticket to England. Some of those Pakistan players look lost in ODI cricket compared to Test cricket. The opposite applies to Handscomb, at the moment. His 47 in the second ODI was excellent. 6

Marcus Stoinis: 5 matches, 16 runs, average: 5.33, SR: 61.53. 2 wickets, average: 57.50, econ: 6.38

THE RCB CURSE HAS STRUCK AGAIN. Marcus Stoinis, due to join RCB in the IPL after this series, had one of his poor ones. He’ll be in England, but his love life could be getting in the way of his focus… 1

Glenn Maxwell: 5 matches, 258 runs, average: 64.50, SR: 139.45. 3 wickets, average: 58.33, econ: 5.00

Outstanding. With Glenn Maxwell in this form, Australia can achieve anything. Damaging stuff. Aaron Finch had to have a series of a lifetime to stop Maxwell from getting man of the series. He was a key difference between the sides. 10

Alex Carey: 5 matches, 80 runs, average: 40.00, SR: 88.88

Opportunities were limited, but Carey played a key knock in the fourth ODI with Australia in strife. Followed his debut fifty with a duck next game. Pakistan style. 6

Jason Behrendhorff: 2 matches, 4 wickets, average: 23.00, econ: 5.75

Expensive in the final ODI, but took three wickets. That a bowler of Jason Behrendhorff’s accuracy is a bit further down the pecking order is testament to Australia’s depth. 6

Kane Richardson: 2 matches, 2 wickets, average: 49.00, econ: 5.76

Got a run for Australia, which is always a great moment. However, like Behrendhorff, he is further down the pecking order. Always honest, including at the death in Australia’s incredible win in the fourth ODI. 4

Nathan Lyon: 5 matches, 5 wickets, average: 48.90, econ: 4.98

If a captain plays Lyon with the intention of taking big wickets, then he needs a head check. An economy rate of under five is exactly why Lyon is in the team, keeping a lid on things. Steady. 6.5

Adam Zampa: 5 matches, 7 wickets, average: 37.28, econ: 5.36

His love affair with Stoinis is working better for Zampa than for Stoinis. Even though Zampa wasn’t as effective as he was in India, he was good, benefiting from an extended run in the side. Selectors are finally realising that chopping and changing does no one any good. 7

Other squad members

Pat Cummins: 1 match, 3 wickets, average: 7.66, econ: 2.87

Australia won 5-0 with Pat Cummins playing one game. Incredible. Cummins keeps going from strength to strength, on show in his damaging opening burst in the third ODI. He displayed awesome pace and bounce on an Abu Dhabi track offering a little. He gets a 10 for his performance in that game. 10

Nathan Coulter-Nile: 3 matches, 7 wickets, average: 23.71, econ: 6.14

Slightly on the expensive side (which RCB bowler isn’t?) However, his wicket-taking ability is why Australia must consider him for the World Cup squad. A powerful player when in full stride. 7

Jhye Richardson: 2 matches, 3 wickets, average: 26.66, econ: 6.15

The low point for Australia was Jhye Richardson going down with a really bad shoulder injury. The way he bounced back from a tough first ODI to bowl a great first spell in the second was great to see. Hope he recovers quickly. 6

So, Australia have continued their great preparation for the World Cup with a 5-0 demolition of Pakistan.

Australia have now won eight ODIs in a row. Pakistan have three of 21 ODIs vs top eight opposition since 2018.

Where do you think both these sides will finish in the World Cup? Do leave a comment.

IPL 2019: KXIP vs DC Preview Dream11 Prediction

KXIP vs DC Preview Dream11 Prediction. Kings XI Punjab vs Delhi Capitals Preview Dream11 Prediction

Co-written by N.S. Shekhawat

An action packed IPL 2019 to date moves into its second week. There has been just about everything, including controversies, incredible individual performances, surprises and proof why IPL 2019 could be the most competitive edition yet.

Today, Kings XI Punjab will be out to build on their impressive and comprehensive win over MI. They will know DC’s batsmen are dangerous, and will need a plan and execute well to contain their batting. Ravi Ashwin and company will be looking for victory via early wickets, and KL Rahul’s return to form in the big win over MI will certainly be of relief. Can KXIP make it three wins from four games?

Delhi Capitals’ win over KKR would give them plenty of confidence. Sure, they nearly lost a game they should have won, but the ability of their young batsmen as well as Kagiso Rabada under pressure is something to behold. Prithvi Shaw showcased his immense talent, and you feel the DC lineup is ready to explode. Will it be they who make it three wins from four games?

Also read: 5 ways to improve as a cricketer!

Key to a KXIP win

KXIP will enjoy their home conditions once again. We can expect batting friendly conditions in Mohali, with a high scoring match certainly on the cards. With this in mind, KXIP’s top order can be dangerous, with Chris Gayle and KL Rahul capable of taking attacks apart as David Warner and Jonny Bairstow did for SRH yesterday. However, Mayank Agarwal also highlighted how important he is with a fine innings vs MI, which enabled KL Rahul to continue easing into his innings. Can KXIP repeat their efforts against a DC attack that ripped through KKR’s top order on Saturday?

However, KXIP have a bowling issue. Their pacers have the second-worst economy rate of any side so far in IPL 2019. Andrew Tye and Mohammed Shami have been under par to date, and both need to be on their game against a DC side that can cause damage at all stages of the innings. With the two Ashwins capable of building pressure and taking wickets in the middle overs, it is vital that the powerplay and death overs are covered well by KXIP. Will Vijoen get another chance? If so, how will he fare against the likes of Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant?

KXIP vs DC Preview Dream11 – Will KL Rahul now go on to match his IPL 2018 form?

Key to a DC win

DC would have certainly been kicking themselves if they didn’t win against KKR. Prithvi Shaw was absolutely outstanding, and he will certainly be key against an KXIP side that has its pace troubles. However, can the others around him step up? Shreyas Iyer was strong on Saturday with 43, but Rishabh Pant didn’t play his best innings, along with Hanuma Vihari. With a quality batting track expected in Mohali, can the DC top order outplay KXIP’s, setting a platform for Rishabh Pant to go big?

Also, DC were absolutely outstanding in the opening exchanges against KKR. They restricted them to 62/5 within 10 overs, and were on track to conceding a low score. However, how they handle big hitting will be a challenge, with Andre Russell and Dinesh Karthik turning the game on its head. Will Kagiso Rabada build on his excellent performance? How well will the spinners go in restricting KXIP’s talented top order? With Chris Morris also showing good signs vs KKR, DC can hope for a cohesive bowling effort.

Image credit: PTI. KXIP vs DC Preview Dream11 – Prithvi Shaw came so close to an amazing century vs KKR.

Possible Playing 11

Both teams are coming off wins, so there might not be too many changes. However, KXIP could look at bringing in Ankit Rajpoot and Mujeeb-ur-Rahman.

KXIP: 1. Chris Gayle, 2. KL Rahul (wk), 3. Mayank Agarwal, 4. David Miller, 5. Sarfaraz Khan, 6. Mandeep Singh, 7. R Ashwin (c), 8. Mujeeb-Ur-Rahman, 9. M Ashwin, 10. Ankit Rajpoot/Mohammed Shami 11. Andrew Tye

DC: 1. Prithvi Shaw, 2. Shikhar Dhawan, 3. Shreyas Iyer (c), 4. Colin Ingram, 5. Rishabh Pant (wk), 6. Hanuma Vihari, 7. Chris Morris, 8. Harshal Patel, 9. Amit Mishra, 10. Sandeep Lamichhane, 11. Kagiso Rabada

Dream11 Prediction

Also read: Opinion – Did Dream11 make the right call changing their deadline time?

Key stats and points:

  • KL Rahul vs Rishabh Pant? KL Rahul struck 51 off 16 balls vs DC in Mohali in IPL 2018. His average overall against them is 29.60, but his SR is an incredible 170.11, and is coming off a confidence-boosting half century vs MI.
  • However, Pant has a case to be selected. He is one of DC’s linchpins, and looked very threatening in his 28 (13) at Mohali last season. However, he averages just 13.50 in five innings vs KXIP, so choose Pant if you feel it could be his day.
  • Chris Gayle continued his fine form, with a blistering knock vs MI. His record vs DC is strong, averaging 38.10 in 10 innings with an SR of 149.41. This includes a 128*.
  • Mayank Agarwal offers good value, after a very promising start to IPL 2019 (22, 58 and 43).
  • Prithvi Shaw is coming off an incredible 99 vs KKR. With KXIP’s seam attack the second-most expensive in IPL 2019, Shaw can be backed to go well again.
  • Will Shikhar Dhawan fire? He has a good record vs KXIP, averaging 30+ in 20 innings. This includes four 50s.
  • Shreyas Iyer has a modest record vs KXIP (22.71 avg), but he has looked in threatening in IPL 2019 (scores of 16, 18 and 43).
  • David Miller averages nearly 40 vs DC, but how much of a bat will he get?
  • If selected for KXIP, Mujeeb-ur-Rahman is a good option. He took 11 wickets in three games at Mohali last season.
  • Will KXIP select Amit Mishra? He concedes a SR of 276.50 vs KL Rahul and 186.70 vs Chris Gayle.
  • Kagiso Rabada has had a strong start to IPL 2019, holding his nerve in the Super Over vs KKR.
  • Murugan Ashwin was superb vs MI, taking 2/25. He offers excellent value.
  • Sandeep Lamichhane slotted straight back in to the DC team, and looked good. He took 1/29 vs KKR.

Stats and Facts

  • Both sides have won two from three so far in IPL 2019.
  • Since 2015, the team batting first has won 10 of 14 matches at Mohali.
  • These two sides finished second-last and last respectively in IPL 2019. Both have given hope that this season will be a better one.

Match Prediction

There have been some cracking games in IPL 2019, and this promises to be another.

Both N.S. Shekhawat and I believe that DC will just get over the line, thanks to slightly better balance and resources in their team.

Pakistan vs Australia 5th ODI Preview Dream11

Pakistan vs Australia 5th ODI Preview Dream11. PAK vs AUS 5th ODI Preview Dream11 Prediction

Due to certain circumstances, my previous Twitter account might not be recovered. Be sure to follow my new account! @CricBlog_

After three straight one-sided ODIs, there were fears of a fourth straight such game. This time, though, it looked like Australia would be on the end of it, sitting in a precarious position with the bat and then getting carted around as they looked to defend 277.

With the series sponsored by Head and Shoulders, Pakistan need to wash off their tendency to botch chases. Their dandruff is grasping defeat from the jaws of victory, which they did to a tee in the fourth ODI. It was the first time in ODI history that a chase of under 280 was unsuccessful with two centurions, and now puts the Pakistanis at risk of a 5-0 whitewash. Can they get it right this time and salvage some pride?

Australia were nowhere near perfect two days ago. However, they delivered when they needed to in the key moments. Usman Khawaja started slowly, but found his touch nicely, which was then followed by a magnificent partnership from Glenn Maxwell and Alex Carey. However, even with the series wrapped up, Australia would like to see more from Shaun Marsh (if picked) and Marcus Stoinis, who have had an underwhelming few matches. Will they Aussies pick up their first 5-0 ODI series win since 2012/13?

Key to a Pakistan win

Pakistan’s opening woes have hurt them this series, but Abid Ali shone through the rubble. His superb century on debut should have been enough to deliver victory, but what it has done is keep the incumbents on their toes. He announced himself on the ODI stage with fine strokeplay, and he will be key again. If Imam-ul-Haq has recovered sufficiently from illness, you feel Shan Masood will be the one to make way, which puts onus on those two to provide a solid start for Pakistan. With Haris Sohail and Mohammad Rizwan having their good moments this series, Pakistan have it in them to set a platform. However, who will finish it off? Umar Akmal continues to frustrate, and Saad Ali needs to prove himself at this level. So, that aspect of Pakistan’s game remains to be seen.

Also, like their batting, Pakistan had both good and bad moments with the ball. They didn’t give Australia much in the powerplay overs last match, and then backed it up with some fine middle overs bowling, led by spinners Imad Wasim and Yasir Shah. The template for success is there, but they need to take their chances when they arise, after a dropped catch from Mohammad Rizwan off Glenn Maxwell when on 10 proved mighty costly. Can Pakistan start well, getting the better of the openers, and then work their way through Australia’s middle order as they have done in the last two ODIs? However, this time, can they finish the job?

Image credit: AFP. Pakistan vs Australia 5th ODI Preview – Can Abid Ali build on his debut century?

Key to an Australia win

There is no such thing as a dead rubber in a World Cup year. Australia’s fourth successive series win across formats is well and truly sealed. However, there are aspects of their game they’d like to get right in the final match. Shaun Marsh has had an underwhelming few games, and with competition for places very high, he needs to play a big innings to propel Australia to a strong score. Similar applies to Marcus Stoinis, who is perhaps under less pressure given his bowling ability, but he needs to tighten up against spin. If Aaron Finch and Usman Khawaja can provide another strong start, then Australia have it in them to build on it, with Glenn Maxwell, playing in his 100th ODI today, to polish the job.

Also, can Australia get the better of Pakistan’s batsmen one final time? They weren’t able to scythe through Pakistan in the fourth ODI as they were when Pat Cummins was playing, which then put them at big risk of defeat. So, the onus is on the likes of Nathan Coulter-Nile and Kane Richardson to deliver early wickets for the Aussies, especially with Abid Ali, Haris Sohail and Mohammad Rizwan all in good touch. With Pakistan possessing a shaky middle order, the Aussies can then turn to the spinners to build further pressure in the middle overs, making it very difficult for Pakistan to launch effectively in the death overs.

Image credit: Getty Images. Pakistan vs Australia 5th ODI Preview – Glenn Maxwell is set to play his 100th ODI.

Possible Playing 11

One change for Pakistan could be Imam-ul-Haq for Shan Masood, who has had a poor series. With Mohammad Hasnain getting into the wickets for the first time in his ODI career, Pakistan would be wise to give him another chance to build on that.

Pakistan: 1. Imam-ul-Haq, 2. Abid Ali, 3. Haris Sohail, 4. Mohammad Rizwan (wk), 5. Umar Akmal, 6. Saad Ali, 7. Imad Wasim (c), 8. Yasir Shah, 9. Junaid Khan, 10. Usman Khan Shinwari, 11. Mohammad Hasnain

Ashton Turner has been waiting his turn all series, and he could be given a game. Shaun Marsh could possibly be the one to make way if Australia choose to play Turner.

Australia: 1. Usman Khawaja, 2. Aaron Finch (c), 3. Peter Handscomb, 4. Shaun Marsh/Ashton Turner, 5. Marcus Stoinis, 6. Glenn Maxwell, 7. Alex Carey (wk), 8. Nathan Coulter-Nile, 9. Nathan Lyon, 10. Kane Richardson, 11. Adam Zampa

IPL 2019: SRH vs RCB Preview Dream11 Prediction. Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Royal Challengers Bangalore Preview Dream11 Prediction

Due to certain circumstances, my previous Twitter account might not be recovered. Be sure to follow my new account @CricBlog_

A team achieving good things in recent IPL seasons vs a side still looking to overcome more disappointment. SRH take on RCB in Sunday’s first match, the 11th game of IPL 2019.

Sunrisers Hyderabad picked up their first win, and are straight back in action less than 48 hours later. David Warner was once again outstanding, forming a significant part of SRH’s excellent top order. With RCB again having their on-and-off moments with the ball, SRH’s batsmen have a good chance to follow up their huge chase with another big effort. Will last year’s finalists make it two in a row?

Royal Challengers Bangalore were on the wrong end of the second controversy in IPL 2019. They were robbed of a free-hit opportunity to win the game against MI. However, old habits did creep in, which included poor death bowling and inability to finish the game. Now, they need to win to ensure they don’t fall too far behind the pack early on in the season. Can they overcome IPL 2018’s finalists in their own backyard?

Key to an SRH win

What a return to IPL cricket it has been for David Warner. He has hit two half centuries in as many games this season, and is looking a dangerous proposition at the top. With Umesh Yadav a fine powerplay option for RCB, how well David Warner and Jonny Bairstow go will be key. They have put 118 and 110 for the first wicket in IPL 2019, and if they make a strong start again, it means danger for an RCB side that needs to find a victory. Can the openers set a strong platform for the likes of Kane Williamson, Vijay Shankar and Yusuf Pathan to play with freedom?

Also, despite the victory against RR, SRH’s bowlers felt the wrath of Ajinkya Rahane and Sanju Samson. This was except for Rashid Khan, who was outstanding in his four overs. However, what support will he get this time? Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s difficult start to IPL 2019 continued with a mighty expensive spell vs RR. Sandeep Sharma less so, but still expensive. Same with Shahbaz Nadeem. With Siddarth Kaul again showcasing his ability in IPL, can the much talked about SRH attack combine for a good showing against the star-studded RCB batting lineup?

Photo: Kuntal Chakrabarty/IANS. IPL 2019: SRH vs RCB Preview Dream11: David Warner has been outstanding so far this season.

Key to an RCB win

There were positives to take for RCB in their tight defeat to MI. Their bowling in the middle overs was good, taking wickets to halt MI’s progress a little heading into the big slog overs. However, their death bowling remains an issue, being on the end of a massive onslaught from Hardik Pandya. So, a good powerplay here is vital against SRH’s quality opening partnership. Umesh Yadav will be a key man in the early overs, with Virat Kohli sure to turn to him to deliver the goods against Warner and Bairstow, to get an early shot at Kane Williamson and the middle order. With Yuzvendra Chahal in wicket-taking form, can RCB put together a complete bowling effort way from home?

Also, can greats Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers build on their last game efforts? Both looked outstanding, threatening to take RCB to victory. Indeed, how RCB cope with Rashid Khan will be key, as well as how much pressure they can apply to SRH’s currently expensive seamers. So, the likes of Parthiv Patel, as well as the so far underwhelming Moeen Ali and Shimron Hetmyer, will be key in providing quality support to get RCB to a strong total.

Possible Playing 11

SRH won their last game but they could look to make an adjustment to their bowling attack. Basil Thampi is a wicket-taker, and could replace Sandeep Sharma.

SRH: 1. David Warner, 2. Jonny Bairstow (wk), 3. Kane Williamson (c), 4. Vijay Shankar, 5. Manish Pandey, 6. Yusuf Pathan, 7. Deepak Hooda, 8. Rashid Khan, 9. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 10. Basil Thampi, 11. Siddarth Kaul

RCB could have some decisions to make. Colin de Grandhomme and Moeen Ali have been disappointing, so it remains to be seen whether they look to bring in Tim Southee and/or Washington Sundar.

RCB: 1. Parthiv Patel (wk), 2. Virat Kohli (c), 3. AB de Villiers, 4. Shimron Hetmyer, 5. Shivam Dube, 6. Colin de Grandhomme/Washington Sundar, 7. Moeen Ali/Tim Southee, 8. Umesh Yadav, 9. Yuzvendra Chahal, 10. Navdeep Saini, 11. Mohammad Siraj

  • David Warner finished top run scorer in his last IPL campaign (2017). He has started with a bang in IPL 2019, making scores of 85 and 69. His record vs RCB is outstanding, with 569 runs at 43.77 and SR 162.57.
  • Kane Williamson vs RCB: Four matches, 192 runs, average: 48, SR: 150.00.

  • Yuzvendra Chahal has taken five wickets in the first two matches.
  • Siddarth Kaul was one of the top wicket takers in IPL 2018, and has started IPL 2019 decently in high scoring games.

IPL 2019: DC vs KKR Preview Dream11 Prediction. Delhi Capitals vs Kolkata Knight Riders Preview Dream11 Prediction

Due to certain circumstances, my previous Twitter account might not be recovered. Be sure to follow my new account @CricBlog_!

Sit down, strap yourselves in. We’re in for a good ride! Two sides packed with power take each other in India’s capital, with plenty at stake already even at such an early stage of the tournament.

Delhi Capitals lit up IPL 2019 on its second day, smashing 200+ and overcoming one of the tournament favourites MI. They did come back to earth a little against CSK, but the talent on display certainly suggests they are in for a much-improved season. Can they get back to winning ways?

Kolkata Knight Riders have shown why they just can’t be written off in IPL cricket. In what is a very competitive tournament, it’s easy to look at sides like RCB and RR, and say they will make the top four instead. However, with Andre Russell in unbelievable form and a side with great know-how, KKR are now aiming for three straight to start the season. Will it be the case?

Key to a DC win

DC seemed to be undone by home conditions against a disciplined CSK side. They couldn’t quite get going with the bat, until Rishabh Pant threatened to repeat his amazing innings against MI. Here, a slightly better platform needs to be set, with fluent runs crucial for the top three. With Pant vs Andre Russell a key battle, significant onus lies on the DC top order to enable Pant to do his thing.

Also, Chris Morris is due to make a comeback to the side. His all round ability in T20s will be welcomed with both bat and ball. Indeed, DC’s bowling certainly wasn’t bad against CSK, but they need to find a way to keep Andre Russell quiet. One way is getting the better of the KKR top order in the powerplay via Kagiso Rabada and Ishant Sharma, and then targeting Russell as early as possible.

Key to a KKR win

Andre Russell has been outstanding in IPL 2019. However, take nothing away from the likes of Robin Uthappa and Nitish Rana, who have made excellent starts to their respective campaigns. Once again, they will be crucial in setting up a platform for Russell to launch. Just as Pant vs Russell is a key battle, so too the battle between KKR’s top order and that of DC. Can KKR put another huge total on the board?

Also, can KKR get more out of their spinners? Incredibly, Piyush Chawla, Kuldeep Yadav and Sunil Narine have taken just two wickets between them in two games so far. If these three can begin to cause damage, KKR can only get stronger. In this context, that is important, with DC possessing firepower throughout their lineup. Can the seamers set things up nicely with a strong powerplay?

IPL 2019: DC vs KKR Preview Dream11 – Andre Russell has been incredible.

Possible Playing 11

Will there be room for Sandeep Lamichhane in the DC XI? The Nepalese spin sensation has been unable to break into the side so far, and with Axar Patel mighty economical vs CSK, he may have to wait his turn once more. It remains to be seen.

DC: 1. Shikhar Dhawan, 2. Prithvi Shaw, 3. Shreyas Iyer (c), 4. Colin Ingram, 5. Rishabh Pant (wk), 6. Chris Morris, 7. Axar Patel/Sandeep Lamichhane, 8. Rahul Tewatia, 9. Kagiso Rabada, 10. Amit Mishra, 11. Ishant Sharma

The KKR seamers were expensive vs KXIP, but there is no pressing need to change a winning combination.

KKR: 1. Chris Lynn, 2. Sunil Narine, 3. Robin Uthappa, 4. Nitish Rana, 5. Shubman Gill, 6. Dinesh Karthik (c & wk), 7. Andre Russell, 8. Piyush Chawla, 9. Kuldeep Yadav, 10. Lockie Ferguson, 11. Prasidh Krishna

Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: DC 8-13 KKR.
  • DC scored 219/4 at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium vs KKR in IPL 2018.
  • Spinners averaged 31.5 and conceded 7.8 per over in Delhi in IPL 2018. Pace bowlers had corresponding figures of 34.6 and 9.4.

Match Prediction

Can’t wait to watch this one!

Plenty of excitement is to be expected. A key point for me is that KKR didn’t manage to win three games in a row once in IPL 2018. I have a sneaky feeling DC will get a win at home.

IPL 2019: KXIP vs MI Preview Dream11 Prediction

KXIP vs MI Preview Dream11. Kings XI Punjab vs Mumbai Indians Preview Dream11 Prediction

Co-written by N.S. Shekhawat

A week into IPL 2019, and we have not been short of controversy. KXIP’s skipper Ravi Ashwin was centre of the conversation after his mankad vs RR. Then, a last-ball no-ball was missed as MI snuck home in an absolute thriller vs RCB.

Now, Kings XI Punjab play host to MI in the first of two matches on Saturday. Ravi Ashwin’s men are coming off a tough night at Eden Gardens. Their bowling was poor, and you felt they didn’t have many bowling options, and that was the difference between 180 and 218. Two bowlers were on debut, and the spotlight is now on Ashwin to ensure he doesn’t put too much pressure on the newcomers. Will KXIP get back to winning ways?

Mumbai Indians breathed a huge sigh of relief in Bengaluru. A middle order collapse against RCB raises some possible question marks about the make up of their side. However, their depth shone through, with Hardik Pandya absolutely outstanding in getting MI to a more-than-competitive total. Jasprit Bumrah was then mighty outstanding as he delivered in the crunch moments for his side. Can one of the IPL 2019 favourites make it two wins straight?

Key to a Kings XI Punjab win

Unfortunately for KXIP, KL Rahul hasn’t fired as yet. He was superb in IPL 2018, and KXIP need him to fire along with the dangerous Chris Gayle if they are to reach their potential. However, there is reason to be optimistic with the “M” factor – Mayank, Miller and Mandeep – each showing good signs in IPL 2019. Can KXIP overcome MI’s experienced bowling attack?

Also, as you know, bowlers win you matches. KXIP got it wrong vs KKR, employing just the five specialist bowlers. Against an experienced MI side, KXIP need success in both the early and death overs, with control in the middle. Will Ashwin see that Tye will be better served for the death against the likes of Pollard and Pandya, with Shami the key up top?

Key to a Mumbai Indians win

MI’s batting was excellent in patches, and poor in others. The key to finding their feet in IPL 2019 is improving as a unit, which can be a huge advantage for them given the depth they have. Hardik Pandya came in at seven vs RCB, and he was dynamic in finishing a stuttering innings well. Here, MI need to set a strong platform, with Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock building on their starts from the last game, followed well by the likes of Yuvraj Singh and Kieron Pollard.

Also, the brilliance of Jasprit Bumrah shone through again. He was outstanding in the crunch moments vs RCB, delivering a win for his side. However, more is needed from Mitchell McClenaghan and Lasith Malinga, both of whom were expensive vs RCB. With Hardik Pandya also expensive, and the spinners miserly, can MI put together a cohesive bowling display against a side that needs big contributions from its openers?

Possible Playing 11

KXIP might guard against too many changes. Moises Henriques is a player who could get a run throughout the season, but he is currently playing the Sheffield Shield Final for New South Wales. Also, they should bring Mujeeb back.

KXIP: 1. Chris Gayle, 2. KL Rahul (wk), 3. Mayank Agarwal, 4. Sarfaraz Khan, 5. David Miller (wk), 6. Mandeep Singh, 7. Andrew Tye, 8. R Ashwin (capt), 9. Mohammed Shami, 10. Mujeeb Ur Rahman, 11. Ankit Rajpoot

Also, MI should stick with the same team that got over the line (no pun intended!) vs RCB.

MI: 1. Rohit Sharma (c), 2. Quinton de Kock (wk), 3. Suryakumar Yadav, 4. Yuvraj Singh, 5. Kieron Pollard, 6. Hardik Pandya, 7. Krunal Pandya, 8. Mitchell McClenaghan, 9. Mayank Markande, 10. Jasprit Bumrah, 11. Lasith Malinga

Dream11 Prediction

Key stats and points:

  • KL Rahul scored 94 (60) in his last game vs MI. Is he due a big game today?
  • Quinton de Kock has threatened to get going in IPL 2019, scoring 27 and 23.
  • Rohit Sharma has scored 558 runs in 22 matches vs KXIP at 32.82 (SR 139.85).
  • Suryakumar Yadav promised plenty vs RCB. Will he continue on from it? Also, he scored 57 (42) last time out vs KXIP.
  • Chris Gayle and David Miller both average over 40 vs MI in IPL.
  • Mujeeb ur Rahman has taken 11 wickets in three games at Mohali, with an economy rate of just 6.6.
  • Jasprit Bumrah was man of the match last game vs KXIP, taking 3/15.
  • Yuvraj Singh strikes at 138.73 vs KXIP, averaging 34.29 against them. Kieron Pollard strikes at 142 with an average of just under 30, but his current form is patchy.

  • MI currently have 99 wins in IPL. No team has more.
  • It is a tight head-to-head record, with MI leading 12-10.

Match Prediction

Looking forward to catching the action in the first Saturday game.

Expect fireworks from two sides possessing talent. However, MI have that extra depth about them, and both N.S. Shekhawat and myself pick MI to win.

IPL 2019: SRH vs RR Preview Dream11 Prediction

IPL 2019: SRH vs RR Preview Dream11 Prediction. Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Rajasthan Royals Preview Dream11 Prediction

Preview co-written by N.S. Shekhawat

The bans of David Warner and Steve Smith are officially over. However, they won’t be playing together in Australia’s fourth ODI vs Pakistan today. Rather, they will be facing off against each other in a game where both SRH and RR are coming off first up losses.

It is the first home game for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2019. So, we might not know exactly how the pitch will behave, even though it usually supports the Hyderabad bowling. However, their death bowling against Andre Russell wasn’t flash. It was a bad day for Bhuvneswhar Kumar and his team, so how will they bounce back? Will the batsmen, led by David Warner (and maybe Kane Williamson) fire again?

Rajasthan Royals will also be looking to open their account. However, what happened in the last game was terrible for the Royals, losing 7/56 after the mankad controversy against KXIP. Jos Buttler continued on from his form in IPL 2018, and much of the onus will be on the middle order to show their capabilities. Will RR consign SRH to two straight defeats?

Key to a Sunrisers Hyderabad win

SRH played from in front for a significant portion of their game vs KKR. This included their bowling effort, putting a hold on KKR’s scoring in the early and middle overs. However, this was until Russell took the game in his hands. Death bowling will indeed be crucial for SRH against the likes of Ben Stokes and K Gowtham. Can Rashid Khan deliver big wickets for SRH? How will Siddarth Kaul, Sandeep Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shakib Al Hasan bounce back after challenging outings?

Also, a similar story was the case with their batting. The way that David Warner in particular started with Jonny Bairstow, you felt 200+ was on the cards. In the end, they fell a tad short of where they looked to be going. So, the onus will again be on Warner, and if Williamson is deemed fit, it is only a boost for SRH. Vijay Shankar was impressive – he certainly belongs up the order, with Manish Pandey, Yusuf Pathan and Shakib Al Hasan (if picked) crucial at the death.

Key to a Rajasthan Royals win

Like SRH, RR started well with the bat in their opening match. Jos Buttler was brilliant, and he will be key once again against an SRH attack that has the ability to deliver the goods. However, RR’s batsmen need to look at their shot selection, with a strong platform and wickets in hand for the death overs crucial to the result. Will Ajinkya Rahane build on his first up effort? What about Steve Smith? Can Ben Stokes deliver consistently, in line with his star status?

Also, RR’s tactics and execution needs improvement. They also started well with the ball against KXIP, but fell away. They struggled to contain Gayle, so they have to find ways to contain Warner here. Jaydev Unadkat, like Stokes, needs to deliver more consistently for his side. Dhawal Kulkarni and K Gowtham are two key bowlers that can build on their first up efforts, as well as the excellent Jofra Archer. However, surely Shreyas Gopal is an option to use for more than one over. Will RR get things right?

Possible Playing 11

Kane Williamson could be set to return, likely replacing either Jonny Bairstow or Shakib Al Hasan.

SRH: 1. David Warner, 2. Kane Williamson (c)/Jonny Bairstow, 3. Vijay Shankar, 4. Yusuf Pathan, 5. Manish Pandey, 6. Deepak Hooda, 7. Shakib Al Hasan, 8. Rashid Khan, 9. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 10. Sandeep Sharma, 11. Siddarth Kaul

RR could stick with the same team that played KXIP.

RR: 1. Ajinkya Rahane (c), 2. Jos Buttler, 3. Sanju Samson, 4. Steven Smith, 5. Ben Stokes, 6. Rahul Tripathi, 7. K Gowtham, 8. Shreyas Gopal, 9. Jofra Archer, 10. Jaydev Unadkat, 11. Dhawal Kulkarni

Stats and Facts

  • These two sides were the worst in IPL 2018 when it came to scoring in the death overs.
  • Ajinkya Rahane needs 56 runs to reach 2,500 runs for RR in IPL.
  • Since IPL 2018, both sides’ top three score over 60% of their runs.

Match Prediction

Both N.S. Shekhawat and myself believe this will be a close match. RR have talent, and can push SRH close. However, SRH’s class will shine through to get an important win.
