IND vs AUS 4th T20 2023 Dream11 Prediction Fantasy Cricket Tips Possible XI Pitch Report

IND vs AUS 4th T20 2023 Dream11 Prediction Fantasy Cricket Tips Possible XI Pitch Report | IND vs AUS 4th T20 Dream11 Prediction Today | Raipur Pitch Report

It’s a sign of cricket’s unforgiving schedule that the Australia squad has had an overhaul in the middle of a series. But, what a farewell it was for Glenn Maxwell. The star all-rounder produced his second miracle this month, with his 104* off 48 balls guiding Australia to their first victory of this five-match duel.

Now, it’s an opportunity for others to perform. New faces have joined the squad seeking priceless experience, along with regulars including Tim David and Matthew Wade who will be looking to build on what they have done so far in this tour.

Also, a word of appreciation for Jason Behrendorff. The seamer has conceded just 37 runs in his eight overs of what has been an extremely high-scoring series. In fact, captain Wade said Behrendorff’s 1/12 in Guwahati was a huge difference maker in a match that yielded 447 runs.

For India, they need their fast bowlers to step up. The attack has gone the journey so far this series, eventually losing what seemed to be the unloseable match in the fourth T20I. With spots up for grabs in next year’s World Cup, the bowlers will want to put their hand up for a big display as the batsmen – the latest being Ruturaj Gaikwad – have done in this series.

Match Details

  • Date: Friday 1st December, 2023.
  • Location: Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur.
  • Time: 7:00pm (IST).

IND vs AUS 4th T20 2023 Dream11 Prediction: Fantasy Cricket Tips

India:

  • Ruturaj Gaikwad will be after another big knock. Following his 123* at Guwahati, the opener has now scored 913 runs in all T20s this year at an average of 50.72 and strike rate of 150.16.
  • Yashasvi Jaiswal is striking at 168.32 in 28 T20s in 2023. The left-hander was man of the match two games ago.
  • Suryakumar Yadav has hammered 138 runs at an average of 46.00 and strike rate of 170.37 in this series. He has scored 68 runs off 39 balls against Nathan Ellis in T20s (two dismissals).
  • Since the start of 2022, SKY has belted 2.643 T20 runs at an average of 43.37 and strike rate of 172.52.
  • Rinku Singh in all T20s this year: 23 inns, 821 runs, avg. avg. 82.10, SR 168.58. When chasing, Rinku’s numbers are even better: 9 inns, 330 runs, avg. 110.00, SR 170.98.
  • Deepak Chahar will be seeking to make an immediate impact. In ten T20s this year, Chahar has taken ten powerplay wickets at an economy of 8.41 and strike rate of 16.2. Also, he took 6/41 in the Vizay Hazare Trophy just recently on November 25.

Australia:

  • Travis Head will be looking to transfer his ODI form into the T20Is. He looked dangerous in the fourth T20I, where he hit 35 off just 18 balls. His battle against Deepak Chahar, if picked, could be interesting.
  • Matt Short has struggled badly against spin since the start of 2022: 33 inns, 333 runs, avg. 16.7, SR 117.67. If he gets through spin, he can get going against India’s seamers who have been expensive this series.
  • Tim David has to bear much of the responsibility with Maxwell and Stoinis unavailable. He is striking at 204.47 between overs 17-20 in all T20s since the start of 2022.
  • Jason Behrendorff has been Australia’s best bowler in this series. India may look to take him on in the powerplay, which could present further wicket-taking opportunities thanks to his accuracy.
  • Since the start of last year, Kane Richardson has taken 66 wickets in 47 T20s (SR 14.65).

Other Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head since the start of 2020: Matches 9, India 6, Australia 3.
  • This will be the first ever T20I at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur.
  • Yashasvi Jaiswal has been dismissed in the powerplay in seven of ten T20Is this year. Australia will look to add another.
  • Ishan Kishan has been dismissed outside the offstump regularly. Australia should look to bowl with an offside focus.
  • Ravi Bishnoi has dismissed Matt Short twice in this series.

Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur Pitch Report and Weather

This ground has hosted just one international so far. It was in January 2023 where India blew New Zealand away for 108 in the second ODI of that series. The seamers, led by Mohammed Shami (3/18), took seven of the ten wickets to fall.

The last T20s to be played on this ground were back in 2018. There were 14 matches in the Syed Ali Mushtaq Trophy, where the average first innings score was 144.21. The team batting second won eight of these games.

A humid, warm and clear night is forecast. There is a chance of dew.

What is the remaining purse for each team in the IPL 2024 Auction?

Cricket News: A look at the remaining purse for each team at the IPL 2024 Auction | Which team has the biggest purse?

The biggest trades in Indian Premier League (IPL) history, as well as a number of player releases, has seen a shakeup among the squads ahead of the upcoming auction. Hardik Pandya made the high-profile move back to Mumbai Indians (MI) from Gujarat Titans (GT), with Cameron Green to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) coming as a result of that.

A number of other franchises confirmed their releases, with plans being put in place to have a successful auction to set things up for the IPL 2024 season. Here is a look at the remaining purse for each team as well as how their squad currently looks before the mini-auction on December 19 in Dubai.

Remaining purse for each team ahead of the IPL 2024 Auction

Chennai Super Kings

Remaining purse for IPL 2024: 31.4 crore

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have a significant 31.4 cr available. The release of Ben Stokes (16.25 cr) has contributed more than half of that remaining purse, with Ambati Rayudu (6.75 cr) also adding to CSK’s budget.

Players released: Ambati Rayudu, Ben Stokes, Dwaine Pretorious, Bhagath Varma, Subhranshu Senapati, Akash Singh, Kyle Jamieson, Sisanda Magala

Current squad: MS Dhoni, Devon Conway, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ajinkya Rahane, Shaik Rasheed, Ravindra Jadeja, Mitchell Santner, Moeen Ali, Shivam Dube, Nishant Sindhu, Ajay Mandal, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Deepak Chahar, Maheesh Theekshana, Mukesh Chowdhary, Prashant Solanki, Simarjeet Singh, Tushar Deshpande, Matheesha Pathirana

Delhi Capitals

Remaining purse for IPL 2024: 28.95 crore

Delhi Capitals (DC) have been quite active with their releases after a disappointing IPL 2023 season. One feels their finishing and pace bowling attack will be two key priorities in the auction.

Gujarat Titans

Remaining purse for IPL 2024: 38.15 crore

The loss of Hardik Pandya leaves a hole in the Gujarat Titans (GT). After all, the absence of an all-rounder and captain of that quality is never ideal. However, they have 38.15 cr remaining and a largely settled squad to build on their excellent 2022 and 2023 campaigns.

Players released: Alzarri Joseph, Odean Smith, Dasun Shanaka, Yash Dayal, KS Bharat, Shivam Mavi, Urvil Patel, Pradeep Sangwan

Players traded out: Hardik Pandya

Kolkata Knight Riders

Remaining purse for IPL 2024: 32.7 crore

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will look at IPL 2024 as somewhat of a new dawn. They have released 12 players in an attempt to freshen up what was an underperforming squad. They have retained their West Indian duo of Andre Russell and Sunil Narine.

Lucknow Super Giants

Remaining purse for IPL 2024: 13.5 crore

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) look relatively settled. They brought in Devdutt Padikkal and traded Romario Shepherd and Avesh Khan. With Daniel Sams released, LSG may prioritise a seam-bowling all-rounder. Jason Holder, perhaps?

Players released: Daniel Sams, Karun Nair, Jaydev Unadkat, Manan Vohra, Karan Sharma, Suryansh Shedge, Swapnil Singh, Arpit Guleria

Players traded out : Romario Shepherd, Avesh Khan

Mumbai Indians

Remaining purse for IPL 2024: 17.75 crore

Mumbai Indians (MI) welcome back Hardik Pandya. They will boast an incredibly strong batting lineup in IPL 2024, and have Hardik’s bowling quality to turn to as well. They should look at bolstering their bowling depth.

Players released: Arshad Khan, Ramandeep Singh, Hrithik Shokeen, Raghav Goyal, Jofra Archer, Tristan Stubbs, Duan Jansen, Jhye Richardson, Riley Meredith, Chris Jordan, Sandeep Warrier

Players traded in: Hardik Pandya, Romario Shepherd

Punjab Kings

Remaining purse for IPL 2024: 29.1 crore

Punjab Kings (PBKS) released Shuhrukh Khan (9 cr) to help keep Sam Curran (18.5 cr). They have 29.1 cr remaining to build a team that can make the franchise’s first playoffs’ appearance in a decade.

Players released: Shahrukh Khan, Raj Bawa, Baltej Dhanda, Mohit Rathee, Bhanuka Rajapaksa

Current squad: Shikhar Dhawan, Jitesh Sharma, Jonny Bairstow, Prabhsimran Singh, Liam Livingstone, Atharva Taide, Rishi Dhawan, Sam Curran, Sikandar Raza, Shivam Singh, Harpreet Brar, Arshdeep Singh, Kagiso Rabada, Nathan Ellis, Rahul Chahar, Vidwath Kaverappa, Harpreet Bhatia

Rajasthan Royals

Remaining purse for IPL 2024: 14.5 crore

Rajasthan Royals (RR) will be aiming to return to the playoffs after missing out in 2023. Their notable releases were Jason Holder and Joe Root, with the latter opting out of IPL 2024. An all-rounder will be high on their agenda.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Remaining purse for IPL 2024: 23.25 crore

There is rarely a quiet day at Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). They acquired the services of Cameron Green in an all-cash trade (17.5 crore) from MI. Their batting looks strong as a result, but they must use their remaining 23.25 cr to form a good bowling attack.

Players released: Wanindu Hasaranga, Harshal Patel, Josh Hazlewood, Finn Allen, Michael Bracewell, David Willey, Wayne Parnell, Sonu Yadav, Avinash Singh, Siddharth Kaul, Kedar Jadhav

Players traded out: Shahbaz Ahmed

Players traded in: Mayank Dagar, Cameron Green

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Remaining purse for IPL 2024: 34 crore

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) promised so much in 2023 but delivered precious little. Harry Brook was only able to live up to his price tag in one innings, so the franchise has released him ahead of the IPL auction. One surprise was the release of the talented Karthik Tyagi.

Players released: Harry Brook, Adil Rashid, Akeal Hosein, Karthik Tyagi, Vivrant Sharma, Samarth Vyas

Players traded out: Mayank Dagar

Players traded in: Shahbaz Ahmed

Current squad: Abdul Samad, Aiden Markram, Rahul Tripathi, Glenn Phillips, Mayank Agarwal, Heinrich Klaasen, Anmolpreet Singh, Upendra Yadav, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Abhishek Sharma, Marco Jansen, Washington Sundar, Sanvir Singh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Fazalhaq Farooqi, T Natarajan, Umran Malik, Mayank Markande

IND vs AUS 3rd T20 Twitter Reactions: Glenn Maxwell hits 104 (48) after Ruturaj Gaikwad century

Cricket News: IND vs AUS 3rd T20 Twitter Reactions: Glenn Maxwell hits 104 (48) after Ruturaj Gaikwad century | Fans react to Maxwell magic at Guwahati

Glenn Maxwell has done it again. No game is over while he is at the crease. A few weeks after his remarkable 201* to seal the comeback of all comebacks against Afghanistan in the World Cup, Maxwell was at it again, this time in Guwahati to seal an improbable victory in the third T20I against India.

Australia needed 43 off the final 12 balls to seal an unlikely win. They earlier needed 65 off the final four overs and 78 off the final five. Such numbers are almost always too much for chasing teams to overcome. But, it’s Glenn Maxwell. After Marcus Stoinis struggled and Tim David was dismissed first ball, Maxwell took over to smash 56 off his next 24 balls to seal a memorable win alongside a key contribution from captain Matthew Wade.

Maxwell smashed 6, 4, 4, 4 off Prasidh Krishna to win the game off the final delivery. In the process, he equalled Rohit Sharma’s record of the most centuries in T20 Internationals (4). He also equalled the record for the fastest T20I ton by an Australian, going level with Josh Inglis (this series) and Aaron Finch (2013).

India will be wondering how they didn’t seal the win. They were well ahead in the game from the time Ruturaj Gaikwad went on a rampage, striking the first century for India against Australia in T20Is. It was the classiest 57-ball 123* you’ll see and he may have went to bed wondering how he could produce such a performance and not win player of the match or the game itself.

IND vs AUS 3rd T20 Twitter Reactions: Fans in awe of Glenn Maxwell

Ruturaj Gaikwad also had a night to remember with 123* off 57 balls

Is Cameron Green a good trade for RCB? Fans have their say

Cricket News: Cameron Green traded to RCB – Fans debate on social media on whether the move will work out for the franchise

Cameron Green will play for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). The Australian all-rounder has been traded for Mumbai Indians (MI) in a move that was done to make way for the return of Hardik Pandya.

Green had a terrific debut season in the IPL. He smashed 452 runs at an average of 50.22 and strike rate of 160.28, and also took six wickets. He batted up the order for the most part, with his 100* off 47 balls in the final league game taking MI to the playoffs. “Thank you, Greeny for a wonderful season in MI Blue & Gold,” tweeted the Mumbai Indians.

So, what will RCB get with Cameron Green in IPL 2024? Bangalore already does have a relatively settled top four with Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar and Glenn Maxwell, so Green is set to be an important middle order player.

Mo Bobat, Director of Cricket at RCB, said “we’ve got a really strong top order, and we wanted to enhance the middle order by adding a little bit of power. That was always going to be a bit of a priority for us. Preferably, if that power was a pace-bowling all-rounder, that would be ideal.

“Someone like Cameron Green was the perfect fit for us.”

Reactions: Cameron Green traded to RCB – fans debate whether the all-rounder will take the franchise to new heights

Arguments for the trade

Those in favour of the move not only look at how dangerous RCB’s batting lineup will be for 2024, but also how valuable Green could be in the longer term. Faf du Plessis is 39, and Green could become a regular top order player for RCB down the line.

Arguments against the trade

Those against the trade believe Green is overpriced at 17 crore. Also, the resources RCB currently have may mean the franchise will find it tricky to fit him in the playing XI? Also, how will the RCB bowling attack look for the season? After all, it’s the bowling where RCB have struggled most over the years.

Players, fans pay tribute to Phil Hughes on ninth anniversary of his passing

Cricket News: Players, fans take to social media to pay tribute to Phil Hughes who passed away on this day in 2014

Nine years have passed, but it still doesn’t feel real. One of cricket’s gentlemen and most exciting talents was taken away far too soon on the 27th of November, 2014 in one of – if not the most – saddest days in the sport.

And he is still remembered fondly today. After being struck whilst batting on 63 for South Australia in a Sheffield Shield game at the Sydney Cricket Ground, everyone hoped Phil Hughes would recover. But, soon tears flowed and hearts wrenched at the news filtering through that the 25-year old had passed away.

It was truly a solemn time. Australia’s Test series against India was postponed, with “408” painted vividly on the Adelaide Oval turf. First class cricket was called off, as was club, park and junior cricket around the county. His funeral service was a day never to be forgotten, with then Australia captain Michael Clarke’s tribute etched in the minds of millions.

And, of course, everyone was concerned with the wellbeing of his family after experiencing the kind of loss you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy. Nine years on, Hughes’ legacy lives on, with players and fans pay tribute to one of the game’s most lovable characters.

Players, fans pay tribute to Phil Hughes on anniversary of his tragic death

Michael Clarke took to Instagram to pay tribute to his good mate. As did current players Steve Smith and David Warner. Former Australian player and coach Darren Lehmann was also one of many to pay tribute to Hughes, who thrilled one-and-all in his 26 Tests, 25 ODIs, 35 T20s, 114 First-Class, and 91 List A matches.

Twitter Reactions: Fans stunned at reports Hardik Pandya will be traded from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians for IPL 2024

Cricket News: Fans react on social media after reports say Hardik Pandya will be traded from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians for IPL 2024

There is rarely a quiet day in Indian cricket. The latest example is the huge news that surfaced on Friday, with a report by ESPNcricinfo claiming that Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya is set to make a shock move back to Mumbai Indians for the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

According to the report, the deal is an all-cash trade with Mumbai Indians to pay INR 15 crore (approx. US$1.8 million), which is Hardik’s salary. There will also be an undisclosed transfer fee paid to the Titans as part of the deal. The all-rounder will earn 50% of this fee.

The news has certainly come as a surprise to fans. Hardik enjoyed immediate success at Gujarat Titans, both as an all-rounder and captain. He led them to the title in their first season in 2022 and came within a whisker of successfully defending that title in 2023. They just fell short against Chennai Super Kings in a thrilling final.

Reactions: Fans in disbelief over report that Hardik Pandya will be traded from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians

Even before the trade is even confirmed, fans are in disbelief that it is even a possibility. Should the deal go through, Hardik will return to the franchise he won four titles with in 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020. Shubman Gill could be named as the new Gujarat Titans if Hardik makes the move. Or Kane Williamson.

“There is absolutely ZERO cricketing merit in a franchise letting go of the only & the best pace bowling allrounder in the country, who also happens to be a title winning captain and nearly defended the title, along with being a local boy,” tweeted a fan.

“There is definitely more to it than what meets the eye and we’ll probably never know the actual reasons due to which GT agreed to this trade.

Here are some of the best reactions to the news that has come through regarding IPL 2024, including reports MI may release Cameron Green and Jofra Archer to create extra funds.

Best responses to Mohammad Kaif “best team on paper” argument

Cricket News: Best responses to Mohammad Kaif “best team on paper” tweets | Mohammad Kaif creates stir with his view on the ODI World Cup Final

Former India batsman Mohammad Kaif created quite the stir on social media following India’s defeat in the World Cup Final against Australia. Speaking to Star Sports, Kaif said “I can never accept that the best team has won the World Cup. The Indian team is the best on paper.”

The comments resulted in a widespread response, including from David Warner. The Australia opener, who had a strong World Cup campaign with 535 runs, tweeted, “I like MK [Mohammad Kaif], issue is it does not matter what is on paper. At the end of the day you need to perform when it matters. That’s why they call it a final. That’s the day that counts and it can go either way, that’s sports. 2027 here we come.”

The tweet has received 4.7 million impressions.

Kaif then took to Twitter to double down on his view. “Facts: It was Australia’s day in final, they won, they are World Cup winners. More facts: India comprehensively won 10 games, they lost 11th, they had the best bowlers and batters. They were the tournament’s best team. Both facts, on paper and on field. Relax Australia.”

Best responses to views from Mohammad Kaif on the World Cup

Kaif’s tweet, which has been viewed nearly 4 million times as of November 24, has also resulted in widespread response. “On paper, strength is just a promise; on the field, it’s the grit in key moments that clinches victories,” tweeted Talk Before Wicket. Others took a more humorous approach, with The Skin Doctor tweeting “It’s high time for Kaif bhai to become the ICC president and introduce the ‘best team on paper award’ from next Cricket World Cup onwards.”

Here are some other responses following Australia’s sixth ODI World Cup title.

India and Australia are currently doing battle once again, this time in the T20I format. India took a 1-0 lead in the five-match series thanks to big efforts from Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan and Rinku Singh among others.

Is Dream11 fantasy cricket considered gambling?

Opinion: Is Dream11 considered gambling? | A look at whether Dream11 is considered gambling and the effects the app can have

Dream11 has taken the sporting and economic world by storm. Launched in 2008, Dream11 now has over 200+ million users playing fantasy sports across a number of different disciplines, with the main one being cricket. The platform has changed the way fans watch and interact with cricket, with every delivery garnering even more importance given the financial and psychological investment involved.

Dream11 Sports, of which Dream11 is a part of, had its first real growth spurt in 2017, where they reached 57 lakh users (an increase of 42 lakh from the previous year). They went past the 1 crore mark in 2018 (1.7 crore users), increasing further to 5.4 crore users in 2019 and then exploding to 11 crore users during the pandemic in 2020.

The number of users has since doubled to 22 crore in 2023.

With its growth has come the debate as to whether Dream11 is gambling. It is well known that gambling is illegal in India, but an Indian High Court ruled the game as one of skill rather than wagering and gambling. The court “held that ‘the element of skill’ had a predominant influence on the outcome of the Dream11 game, which follows the following format:

  • Participants have to choose a team consisting of at least the same no. of players as playing in a real-life sports team (e.g. 5 in basketball, 7 in kabaddi and 11 in cricket/football)
  • All contests are run for at least the duration of one full sports match
  • No team changes are allowed by participants after the start of the sports match”

In addition, the ‘game of mere skill’ “makes the Dream11 game exempt from the provisions of the Public Gambling Act, 1867 (PGA).”

Is Dream11 gambling or a game of skill?

The saying “two things can be true” can apply here. Success in Dream11 relies on a mix of extensive research, cricketing knowledge and the odd gut feel. Typically, well prepared players, who also carefully pick and choose the matches they play, are likelier to win. So, there is certainly an element of skill.

Also, Dream11 contests run for the full entirety of a match, whereas gambling can take many forms, i.e. different markets for each over, player and innings.

However, to say there is no luck involved in Dream11 is far-fetched. For example, in the first T20I between India and Australia in November 2023, Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed run out without facing a ball. Those who picked him in their side would have known he has had a solid year in T20s. But, there is no way of catering for such a freak dismissal.

While there is debate on whether Dream11 is gambling, there is no doubt the platform can be addictive. There needs to be a focus on educating young people on the risks. Like with anything, too much can be harmful. According to doctors at Delhi’s All India Institute of Media Sciences (AIIMS) and Bengaluru’s Service for Healthy Use of Technology (SHUT), India has seen a rise in gaming addiction in recent years, with one user incurring a total loss of 3,500,000 rupees in a few years according to Rest of World.

If you are a fantasy cricket player (Dream11 or any other platform such as Fan2Play or MyTeam11), the following tips are vital to ensuring your financial and mental wellbeing.

  1. Focus only on certain matches and sports you know more about. The more matches/sports you play does NOT increase your likelihood of winning.
  2. Set spending limits. NEVER chase your losses. The user who lost 3,500,000 rupees now “invests 100 rupees [around $1.30] on games and teams I have knowledge about. I know how addictive it can get, so I’m not overusing it.”
  3. Do your research. CricBlog’s Fantasy Cricket Previews cover stats, head-to-head matchups, pitch conditions and more to help.

The debate as to whether Dream11 is gambling will continue to roll on. As mentioned, there is skill involved, but there is luck, too. Because of factors that players can’t control, it is important to control what you can – mainly spending limits, choosing games wisely and never to rely solely on luck when putting together a playing XI.

The timing of this series was questioned, but the entertainment in the first T20I certainly wasn’t. In a Visakhapatnam thriller, India achieved their highest ever successful run chase courtesy of more Suryakumar Yadav magic in T20s and another memorable moment for Rinku Singh. Also, the performances of Mukesh Kumar and Axar Patel held things well in the eye of an Australian storm, led by Josh Inglis who hit a blinding century; the equal-fastest T20I century for Australia (47 balls).

Now, the action moves to Thiruvananthapuram with hopes of another thriller. Australia, even in defeat, showed they are more than capable of causing the hosts a problem or two. Also, there is the chance some or all of their World Cup stars will return, which will make them even more of a chance in this game.

For India, they will be seeking more control up top and in the middle order. Australia will be after more control in the middle as well. But, both showed they can restrict runs at the death, which they will both be aiming to do once again.

IND vs AUS 2nd T20 2023 Dream11 Prediction: Fantasy Cricket Tips

India:

  • Yashasvi Jaiswal was looking dangerous (21 off 7 balls) before he was dismissed against the run of play in the opening match. In 26 T20s this year, Jaiswal has scored 999 runs at an average of 41.63 and strike rate of 159.84.
  • Suryakumar Yadav is a must-pick in fantasy cricket teams. He is a beast in T20s. Since the start of 2022, SKY has smashed 2,585 T20 runs at an average of 47.00 and strike rate of 173.14.
  • Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed without facing a ball in the opening T20I. It robbed him of another chance to score well, especially given he has been excellent in the powerplay in all T20s this year: 427 runs, five dismissals, strike rate: 141.86.
  • Arshdeep Singh had a disappointing outing in the first T20I. But, he returns to the ground where he dominated South Africa last year. The left-armer took 3/32, dismissing left-handers Quinton de Kock, Rilee Rossouw, and David Miller.
  • Axar Patel won man of the series against Australia last year. He took 1/16 in the T20I against South Africa on this ground last year.

Australia:

  • Josh Inglis was outstanding in the first T20I (110 off 50 balls). He was particularly brilliant against spin, smashing 58 off 24 balls. Can he follow up with another big effort?
  • Matt Short is a handy pick in fantasy teams with his all-round role. He started promisingly in the first T20I, but his batting against spin needs work. In 22 T20s since the start of 2022, Short has struck 160 runs at an average of just 9.41 and strike rate of 105.26 against spin.
  • Tim David could go up against Arshdeep Singh again. He has struck 26 runs off 12 balls against the left-armer without dismissal.
  • Since the start of 2022, David has struck 1,053 T20 runs between overs 17-20 at a strike rate of 204.47.
  • Jason Behrendhorff was superb in the opening T20I (1/25). He has taken eight wickets in T20Is vs India at an average of 15.87 and strike rate of 6.68.
  • Nathan Ellis came back well at the death in the first match. He has taken 18 wickets in nine T20Is at an average of 14.33 and economy of 7.58.

Other Stats and Facts

  • India have won their past three T20Is against Australia, and five of the past seven.
  • Yashasvi Jaiswal has been dismissed five times in the powerplay in eight T20Is this year. But, he does have 147 runs at an impressive strike rate of 165.2.
  • Rinku Singh when chasing in T20s in 2023: 330 runs, avg. 111.00, SR 170.98.
  • Steve Smith when opening in T20s: 11 inns, 563 runs, avg. 56.30, SR 156.82.

Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram Pitch Report and Weather

The chasing team has won the past two T20Is on this ground. West Indies chased India’s 170 with eight wickets and nine balls remaining in 2019. Last year, India restricted South Africa to just 106/8 courtesy of a powerplay burst by Arshdeep Singh and Deepak Chahar. India chased the target with 20 balls and eight wickets to spare, with Suryakumar hitting an unbeaten 33-ball 50.

There is rain forecast on Saturday in Thiruvananthapuram but conditions should be mostly clear for Sunday. A top of 32 degrees and a humid evening is forecast, so dew is a possibility.

Cricket News: IND vs AUS 1st T20 Twitter Reactions: Suryakumar Yadav 82 & Josh Inglis 110 in thriller | Reactions to IND vs AUS 1st T20 2023

There were question marks around the timing of this five-match T20I series so soon after a World Cup. However, the first match delivered, with India and Australia contesting a thriller in front of a full house at Visakhapatnam.

Suryakumar Yadav provided a reminder of just how good he is in the T20 format. The captain got the chase going with an excellent 42-ball 80, in partnership with Ishan Kishan (58 off 39 balls) to take India to 134/3 in the 13th over after being reduced to 22/2 ten overs earlier. He hit nine fours and four sixes in his innings, with runs all over the wicket as we have become accustomed to from SKY over recent years.

Then, despite a strong finish from Australia’s bowlers, Rinku Singh hit a last-ball six which didn’t end up counting as Sean Abbott overstepped. The hit sparked recollections of his exploits in the IPL earlier this year. Incredibly, Singh has hit 330 runs when batting second in T20s in 2023 at an average of 111.00 and strike rate of 170.98.

Earlier, Josh Inglis played a blinder. He went on a rampage, smashing the equal-fastest T20I century by an Australian off 47 balls to lead the team towards 200. Inglis also wowed the crowd and viewers with shots all over the wicket, with his proficiency against spin certainly a positive for Australia. Indeed, this may be the period where Inglis truly announces himself on the world stage after his crucial innings in the semi-final against South Africa where he played spin well on a turning pitch.

In the end, Mukesh Kumar’s final over, which went for just five, proved vital.
