Cricket News: Australia Test squad for 2023 WTC Final & Ashes | Who made the Australia squad for the 2023 WTC Final & Ashes?
Australia have announced a 17-man Test squad for the 2023 World Test Championship (WTC) Final against India and first two Ashes Tests against England. Pat Cummins is back as captain after missing the last two Tests against India due to family reasons, while Matthew Renshaw has also been named after impressing for Australia A recently in New Zealand.
Australia Test squad: WTC Final & first two Ashes Tests
Pat Cummins (c), Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Marcus Harris, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Todd Murphy, Matthew Renshaw, Steve Smith (vc), Mitchell Starc, David Warner
Mitchell Marsh has been included in the squad as cover for Cameron Green ahead of the likes of Aaron Hardie. Also unlucky to miss out was Cameron Bancroft, who hit the most runs in the recently completed 2022/23 Sheffield Shield season. David Warner has been picked, with the selectors showing faith in the veteran opener who has struggled for form over the past couple of years.
“Marcus (Harris), Josh (Inglis, reserve keeper) and Mitch (Marsh) return to the squad and will provide valuable depth and flexibility within their respective skillsets,” said national selection panel chair George Bailey.
“We see value in revisiting the squad following the second Ashes Test given the short turnaround between the WTC Final and the first Ashes Test, along with the length of the tour.”
The WTC Final will be played at The Oval in London from 7 June to 11 June. The Ashes begins five days later at Edgbaston, the venue where Steve Smith made a superb return to Test cricket back in 2019.
Australia’s possible XI for WTC Final against India: 1. David Warner, 2. Usman Khawaja, 3. Marnus Labuschagne, 4. Steve Smith, 5. Travis Head, 6. Cameron Green, 7. Alex Carey (wk), 8. Mitchell Starc, 9. Pat Cummins (c), 10. Nathan Lyon, 11. Josh Hazlewood
Cricket News: Hearing rumours that Jofra Archer is on his way back home – Simon Doull | Simon Doull mentions Jofra Archer on Cricbuzz
Former New Zealand pacer and current commentator Simon Doull mentioned on Cricbuzz Live that Mumbai Indians (MI) pacer Jofra Archer might be heading back to England as he continues to nurse the injury that has kept him out of Indian Premier League (IPL) action since April 1.
“I am hearing rumours that Jofra is on his way back home,” Doull said as he along with Harsha Bhogle and host Saiyami Kher previewed the MI vs Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) game that will be held in the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Tuesday.
Simon Doull in cricbuzz live said he might have heard rumours that Archer is on his way back home ?
Archer played Mumbai’s first match of the season against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium at the start of the month. He didn’t look to be going full throttle as he conceded 33 runs in his four overs and didn’t scalp a wicket eventually. He has missed every MI game since then with head coach Mark Boucher saying that the bowler has picked up a niggle.
However, rumours surfacing from Doull’s statement suggest that Archer’s time in this IPL season might be over already. There has been no official statement regarding the same from the franchise but Archer’s continued absence does spark some speculation about his prevalent injury situation.
“He’s picked up a little niggle. We’ve got a fantastic medical team that are looking after him. He’s obviously a massive player for us, so hopefully they can pass him fit sometime soon,” Boucher touched upon Archer’s injury situation earlier this month.
“We will always look after the player, so if he’s not ready to put his hand up to play then we’ll look after him as well, but we’re following medical advice from our team at the moment. Hopefully he’s up for selection pretty soon,” he had added.
RR vs LSG Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report: IPL 2023 Match 26 | RR vs LSG Dream11 Prediction Today | Jaipur Pitch Report
The exciting, exhilarating and fascinating Rajasthan Royals (RR) make their long-awaited return to the Sawai Masingh Stadium in Jaipur. The 2022 finalists have started this season in very promising fashion, winning four of their first five matches to sit atop the IPL 2023 table. Their fans will be thrilled to welcome them, and they will be after the perfect homecoming.
The Royals showed their potential championship quality against the current champions Gujarat Titans. With many critics believing RR may rely too much on their openers, the middle order, particularly Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer, turned it on to orchestrate a magnificent run chase. Here, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will be sure to test them with their balanced lineup, so how RR execute with both bat and ball will be fascinating to see.
LSG need to bounce back. They would have been disappointed to not seal victory against a Dhawan-less Punjab over the weekend, and as a result need a victory to consolidate a top four spot with a host of teams on six points. KL Rahul found form with a half-century, but his strike rate is still in focus, while the middle order and bowling attack will be seeking to get the better of their Royals’ counterparts.
LSG still have the headache of whether they add Quinton de Kock in the XI. After a great start to the season, Kyle Mayers has had some quiet outings, so LSG may pick QdK in this clash.
Lucknow Super Giants possible bat-first XI: 1. KL Rahul (c), 2. Kyle Mayers/Quinton de Kock (OS), 3. Deepak Hooda, 4. Krunal Pandya, 5. Nicholas Pooran (wk) (OS), 6. Marcus Stoinis (OS), 7. Ayush Badoni, 8. Krishnappa Gowtham, 9. Avesh Khan, 10. Ravi Bishnoi, 11. Mark Wood (OS)
Possible Impact Player substitute: Ayush Badoni out, Yudhvir Singh
Lucknow Super Giants possible bowl-first XI: 1. KL Rahul (c), 2. Kyle Mayers/Quinton de Kock (OS), 3. Deepak Hooda, 4. Krunal Pandya, 5. Nicholas Pooran (wk) (OS), 6. Marcus Stoinis (OS), 7. Krishnappa Gowtham, 8. Yudhvir Singh, 9. Avesh Khan, 10. Ravi Bishnoi, 11. Mark Wood (OS)
Key Players to Watch/Key Stats
Rajasthan Royals:
Jos Buttler is RR’s leading run-scorer so far this season with 204 at an average of 40.80 and strike rate of 163.20. Also, Buttler has a magnificent record on this ground: 10 inns, 434 runs, avg. 54.25, SR 143.23.
Yashasvi Jaiswal is striking at 149.45 so far in IPL 2023 (136 runs). He struck 41 off 29 balls against LSG last season.
Sanju Samson was at his brilliant best last game (60 off 32 balls). The RR skipper has the fourth-most runs at Jaipur, with 530 runs at an average of 29.44 and strike rate of 127.71.
For all of Samson’s perceived struggle against legspin, he does have a good record against Ravi Bishnoi. He has scored 42 off 28 without dismissal.
Shimron Hetmyer has been magnificent for RR. Since the start of 2022, he has smashed 497 runs at an average of 62.13 and strike rate of 164.03 in the IPL.
In 24 balls against Avesh Khan in T20s, Hetmyer has scored 53 runs without dismissal.
Yuzvendra Chahal was player of the match in RR’s first meeting against LSG last season. The classy legspinner took 4/41 to seal a stunning win.
Trent Boult has taken 20 wickets in the first over in the IPL since the start of 2020. He was player of the match in RR’s second match against LSG last season, where he took 2/19 including the wicket of Quinton de Kock.
Boult has had the wood over Nicholas Pooran. In six deliveries in T20s, Boult has dismissed the left-hander once for no run. In ODIs, he has dismissed him thrice for 18 runs in 27 balls.
Lucknow Super Giants:
KL Rahul has struck 80 off just 49 balls at an average of 40 against Trent Boult in the IPL. Also, Rahul has a score of 95* in three T20s at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
Nicholas Pooran has scored just 96 runs in seven matches against RR. But, the West Indian is in excellent form this season, with 141 runs in five matches at a superb strike rate of 216.92.
Pooran has a magnificent record against Chahal in T20s. In 40 deliveries, he has hammered 73 runs for just the one dismissal.
Watch out for Marcus Stoinis. He scored 38* (17) and 27 (17) against RR last season.
Avesh Khan dismissed Jos Buttler twice last season. However, Buttler has hit 35 off 14 balls against him. Interesting battle.
Avesh has restricted Samson quite well in the IPL (26 balls, 28 runs, one dismissal).
LSG may use Ravi Bishnoi against Hetmyer. The legspinner has had the better of the left-hander in all T20s, conceding just 22 off 27 balls with two dismissals.
Mark Wood has taken 11 wickets so far in IPL 2023, which is the most of any bowler along with Yuzvendra Chahal and Rashid Khan.
Other Stats and Facts
Head-to-head: Matches 2, RR 2, LSG 0.
Trent Boult vs Quinton de Kock in T20s: 22 balls bowled, 29 runs scored, two dismissals.
R Ashwin vs Nicholas Pooran in T20s: 29 balls bowled, 25 runs scored, three dismissals.
Sandeep Sharma has been excellent in this IPL. He has taken 1/20, 1/30 and 2/25 so far, delivering some crucial overs, too.
Sawai Mansingh Stadium Jaipur Pitch Report and Weather
The average first innings score was just 125.91 in T20s on this ground last year. Legbreak bowlers were the most economical (slightly over six runs per over), while fast bowlers were most expensive at eight runs per over.
However, under lights, we can expect a good surface. The average first innings score in the 2018 IPL was 161.2 followed by 163.43 in 2019. The chasing team won 64.3% of the matches across both those seasons.
A warm and clear evening is forecast in Jaipur.

Cricket News: Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga appreciated the execution by Matheesha Pathirana in the death overs in the CSK v RCB game on Monday.
Former Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga lavished praise on his junior counterpart Matheesha Pathirana after the latter’s incredible effort in the death took the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) past the finishing line against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday.
Impressive stuff Matheesha❤️ Loved the way you handled the pressure at the death. Excellent execution? @matheesha_9#RCBvCSK#IPL2023
“Impressive stuff Matheesha. Loved the way you handled the pressure at the death. Excellent execution,” Malinga wrote on Twitter after Pathirana conceded only 14 in the 18th and 20th overs combined to put breaks on what appeared to be a definite onslaught from RCB at one point in time.
Pathirana replied with a picture of Malinga training him and quipped, “Thank you Legend. Keep supporting like you always do.”
Pathirana conceded 42 in his two overs and took the crucial wickets of Shahbaz Ahmad and Suyash Prabhudesai in the 18th and the 20th overs respectively. He came back from an expensive opening spell to execute his plans to perfection and hold the RCB from rounding off an impressive victory.
The home team needed just 36 off the last 20 deliveries with six wickets in hand but they stumbled towards the end courtesy some excellent death bowling by Pathirana and Tushar Deshpande.
Dhoni on Pathirana and Deshpande
“It is a difficult one for the youngsters, especially at this time of the year with the dew around. But they are working hard. Bravo is one of the specialists. Under him, the bowlers will gain confidence. It’s a team game. The coach, the bowling coach and the senior players guide them,” CSK captain MS Dhoni spoke about the death bowling skills of his inexperienced pacers in the aftermath of the game.
Pathirana joined the CSK squad late as he was engaged in Sri Lanka’s tour to New Zealand and then was infected with Covid-19. However, his return holds positive signs for CSK as leaking runs towards the backend of the innings is something they need to wary of whilst entering the middle phases of the tournament.
SRH vs MI Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report: IPL 2023 Match 25 | SRH vs MI Dream11 Prediction Today | Hyderabad Pitch Report
After a difficult start to IPL 2023, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (MI) have found life. Both teams have won their last two fixtures, with the goal of a coveted third straight victory to enter the top half of the table.
Such a scenario is similar to what SRH faced last season. After a bumpy start, they enjoyed a bit of a resurgence through the middle part of the campaign, and Aiden Markram’s team will be after something similar. Harry Brook announced himself to the IPL in wonderful fashion, with eyes now set to be on how he and his teammates tackle MI’s spinners.
For MI, their ability to chase is clear, but whether they can defend will be key. Jofra Archer’s availability is still up in the air, but if the likes of Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma and Tilak Varma can continue their recent form, a big score is possible.
Location: Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad.
Time: 7:30pm (IST).
Last match for both teams: SRH beat KKR by 23 runs, MI beat KKR by five wickets.

IPL 2023 Match 25: SRH vs MI Possible Playing XIs
Mayank Agarwal’s form is a worry for SRH. One option they have is elevating Abhishek Sharma, who is a strong spin-hitter, to open with Harry Brook. Brook can target the pacers, while Abhishek can go after the spinners. However, Hyderabad may not want to bat Agarwal in the middle overs, nor drop him just yet.
Sunrisers Hyderabad possible bat-first XI: 1. Harry Brook (OS), 2. Mayank Agarwal, 3. Rahul Tripathi, 4. Aiden Markram (c) (OS), 5. Abhishek Sharma, 6. Heinrich Klaasen (wk) (OS), 7. Marco Jansen (OS), 8. Mayank Markande, 9. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 10. Umran Malik, 11. T Natarajan
Possible Impact Player substitute: Harry Brook or Mayank Agarwal out, Washington Sundar in.
Sunrisers Hyderabad possible bowl-first XI: 1. Harry Brook (OS), 2. Rahul Tripathi, 3. Aiden Markram (c) (OS), 4. Abhishek Sharma, 5. Heinrich Klaasen (wk) (OS), 6. Washington Sundar, 7. Marco Jansen (OS), 8. Mayank Markande, 9. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 10. Umran Malik, 11. T Natarajan
Jofra Archer’s availability is still unknown at this stage.
Harry Brook smashed 100* off 55 balls against KKR. 66 of these runs came against pace off just 26 balls.
Aiden Markram played magnificently against KKR (50 off 26 balls). How he also fares against spin will be interesting to see, as he has been dismissed twice for just 23 runs in 18 balls this season.
In T20s this year, Markram has smashed 540 runs at an average of 38.57 and strike rate of 141.36.
Talking about playing spin, Abhishek Sharma is SRH’s key man. Since the start of 2022, Abhishek has struck 187 runs against spin at a strike rate of 164.00 in the IPL.
Marco Jansen has taken four wickets in two matches this season. All four have come in the powerplay, where he is conceding just five runs per over.
Since the start of 2022, Rohit Sharma has scored just 43 runs off 62 deliveries against left-arm seam in the IPL. He has been dismissed twice, so Jansen’s battle with the MI captain is key.
Mayank Markande has been a gem so far for SRH. He has taken 4/15 and 2/27.
Mumbai Indians:
Rohit Sharma has a modest record against SRH. He averages just 20.31 in 19 matches. He does, however, have solid numbers against Bhuvneshwar Kumar: 48 balls, 65 runs, one dismissal.
Ishan Kishan was at his best against KKR. He smashed 58 off 25 balls, including 24 off 10 against spin.
Against SRH, Kishan has scored 229 runs at an average of 28.63 and strike rate of 132.37.
Tim David is striking at 135.84 so far in IPL 2023, with signs of his best against KKR. Last season, he hammered 46 off 18 balls vs SRH.
David has thumped 36 off just 11 balls against T Natarajan in the IPL without dismissal. He has also struck 31 off 15 against Bhuvneshwar Kumar in all T20s without dismissal.
Tilak Varma is MI’s leading run-scorer so far in IPL 2023 (177) at an average of 59.00 and strike rate of 150.00.
Piyush Chawla has been impressive this season (1/33, 3/22 & 1/19 in his past three games). He has a good record against Rahul Tripathi, with total figures of 2/7 off eight balls.
Other Stats and Facts
Head-to-head: Matches 19, SRH 9, MI 10.
Expect MI to use spin against Harry Brook right away. Brook’s strike rate against spin is just 100 so far this season (36 off 36 balls), with two dismissals.
Heinrich Klaasen in T20s in 2023: 13 inns, 402 runs, avg. 50.25, SR 168.91.
SRH should try Washington Sundar in the powerplay. He has total figures of 2/25 off 26 balls against Rohit Sharma in the IPL. Also, Ishan Kishan strikes at just 100 against him (40 off 40 balls).
Suryakumar Yadav found some form against KKR (43 off 25 balls). Against SRH, SKY has hit 247 runs in eight matches at an average of 30.88 and strike rate of 132.09.
Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad Pitch Report and Weather
Punjab scored 143/9 on this ground on April 10, but that score did not reflect how good the pitch was for batting. Shikhar Dhawan hit 99*, and SRH chased the score down easily with 17 balls to spare. Rahul Tripathi starred with 74 off 48 balls.
India and Australia played a T20I here last year. The surface was good for batting as both teams crossed 185. The IPL games were last played here in 2019. The average first innings score was 171.
A warm and mostly clear evening is forecast.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) stunned the Gujarat Titans (GT) in an incredible run chase at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday evening. RR skipper Sanju Samson and Caribbean superstar Shimron Hetmyer combined to score 60 and 56 at strike rates of 187.50 and 215.38 respectively to take the visitors over the finishing line after RR were down at 55/4 in the 11th over.
Samson particularly eased the pressure by fearlessly taking down Rashid Khan for a hat-trick of sixes. Youngster Dhruv Jurel played an impactful cameo scoring 18 off 10 deliveries as well. Ravichandran Ashwin hit a boundary and a six off his first two deliveries before being dismissed by Mohammed Shami in the 19th over.
However, RR had already more or less sealed the game by then with Hetmyer completing the final formalities by dispatching Afghan spinner Noor Ahmed for a maximum in the second delivery of the last over.
Earlier, Gujarat put up 177 on the board with David Miller top scoring with 46 to support opener Shubman Gill’s effort of 45 runs. RR pacer Sandeep Sharma delivered another impressive performance, scalping two dismissals whilst conceding 25 runs in his four-over spell.
GT vs RR Twitter Reactions: Royals seal their first ever win over Gujarat Titans
Rajasthan Royals is the future of IPL.
Once Kohli or Dhoni are retired, CSK and RCB will lose their value among fans. But, people love RR as a team. There is no certain player. Just the entire unit. And they also know how to win. GT and RR are biggest rivalries now. #GTvsRRpic.twitter.com/JkrRa3V7sR
Ashwin is Mr. Unpredictable. What a cameo appearance by R Ashwin. This tiny inning made big impact. Great win by Rajasthan Royals they were nowhere after 12 overs. #GTvsRR@ashwinravi99pic.twitter.com/4vBTgOninq
It's baffling how this guy doesn't make the Indian T20 team regularly and how he doesn't get the amount of chances other players do. Sanju Samson is such a talented player, his captaincy is outstanding too. #IPL2023pic.twitter.com/VAvTxlNT4F
Sanju Samson is the only national team batsmen who doesn’t anchor for their franchises. Everyone else is basically an anchor. Kohli, KL, Rohit, Hardik, Gill all are anchors and a line up of anchors just doesn’t work in T20s. #RRvGTpic.twitter.com/v6IdOvmpad
A fighting innings of sanju samson comes to an end, he's definitely one of the finest players of spin. Deserves to be in the Indian squad. pic.twitter.com/MINeCOYVec
Brilliant counter from Sanju Samson. His overall SR against Rashid Khan was <100 with just one six before tonight's knock. With four sixes he moved to the joint-second for most sixes against Rashid. Only Chris Gayle has more sixes (7) v Rashid in the IPL. Took down the best.
“When you play quality opponents on a quality wicket, you get such games. Very happy to compete in such a game and come out on top. It was important to rotate our bowlers, they were playing some quality cricket and we had to respect that. The whole team came up well today and we could restrict them to around 170. The start we had, it shows how good a wicket this was,” Samson reflected on the proceedings in the aftermath of the game.
“I felt short. After I got out, they bowled a couple of good overs, but we should have gone a little harder and got to 200. We did cover it well but when I was watching from outside, I did feel that we were 10 runs maybe short,” GT captain Hardik Pandya mentioned as he believed that GT fell short of a defendable total eventually.
RCB vs CSK Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report: IPL 2023 Match 24 | RCB vs CSK Dream11 Prediction Today | Bengaluru Pitch Report
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have played out some absolute belters at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium over the years. The last two were out of this world, with CSK chasing 206 in 2018 and RCB winning by one run a year later. MS Dhoni was magnificent on both occasions, and with Thala in terrific form, who knows if there will be another MS special at the Chinnaswamy.
In the context of IPL 2023, this match is certainly an important one. Both teams sit outside the top four but could enter it with victory here, making this contest a test of nerves and steel as well as skill. Both teams still have question marks around their death bowling, but Vijaykumar Vyshak for RCB and the likes of Dwaine Pretorius for CSK can provide impact.
So, will it be CSK who will overcome injuries to their pace attack? Or can RCB overcome their middle order worries and pick up a vital win? This one has the makings of a cracker.
Last match for each team: RCB beat DC by 23 runs, CSK lost to RR by three runs.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats
Royal Challengers Bangalore:
Virat Kohli is seven runs away from 1,000 against CSK. He averages 38.19 with a strike rate of 125.22 in 30 matches.
Kohli is in fine touch. He has struck three half-centuries in as many matches at the M Chinnaswamy this season. His battle against CSK’s spinners will be key.
Faf du Plessis has struck 197 runs at an average of 65.66 and strike rate of 168.37 so far this season. At the M Chinnaswamy in IPL 2023, the RCB captain has scored 73, 79* and 22.
Glenn Maxwell is RCB’s key spin-hitter. He is striking at 188.67 so far in IPL 2023.
Overall against CSK, Maxwell has hammered 288 runs in 11 matches at a strike rate of 182.28. However, since the start of 2021, Maxwell has scored just 62 runs in four matches.
Eyes are on the impressive Vijaykumar Vyshak. The seamer’s variations were on show against DC (3/20), with his knuckle ball sure to test CSK as well.
Mohammed Siraj has taken three wickets in the powerplay at an economy of just 4.70 so far in IPL 2023. Also, three of his seven wickets overall this season have been left-handers, so his battle with Conway, Moeen, Dube and co. can be vital.
However, Siraj has a horror record against CSK. In eight matches since the start of 2018, he has taken just one wicket at an average of 214.00 and economy of 9.30.
Chennai Super Kings:
Ruturaj Gaikwad has scored 52 off 36 against Mohammed Siraj without dismissal. Overall against RCB, Gaikwad has struck 181 runs at an average of 45.25 and strike rate of 128.37.
Moeen Ali is one of CSK’s X-Factor players. He has dismissed Virat Kohli twice in 18 deliveries in all T20s, conceding 26. He also has a good record against Faf du Plessis, dismissing him twice in 28 balls at a strike rate of 100.
Expect CSK to use Ravindra Jadeja almost exclusively for Glenn Maxwell. In 40 balls in the IPL, the left-arm spinner has dismissed him six times for 49 runs.
The great MS Dhoni is winding back the clock. And who knows what he has in store today. The CSK captain has a superb record against RCB (750 runs, avg. 39.47, SR 145.07) and at the M Chinnaswamy (631 runs, avg. 63.10, SR 175.28).
Dhoni has scored 51 off 28 against Siraj without dismissal.
Maheesh Theekshana took seven wickets in two matches against RCB last season (4/33 and 3/27).
Other Stats and Facts

M Chinnaswamy Stadium Bengaluru Pitch Report and Weather
The surface showed signs of slowing down in the RCB-DC game. But, that was a day game. Under lights, expect the ball to skid on nicely, especially in the second innings. In the night games, RCB chased MI’s 171 with 22 balls to spare and LSG prevailed in a high-scoring thriller against Faf’s team.
A warm and clear evening is forecast.

GT vs RR Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report: IPL 2023 Match 23 | GT vs RR Dream11 Prediction Today | Ahmedabad Pitch Report
In a repeat of the IPL 2022 final, Gujarat Titans (GT) will be up against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the second game on Sunday. Gujarat Titans bounced back strongly in the last match against Punjab Kings. Their bowlers did a fantastic job, with every bowler taking at least one wicket.
Gujarat’s batters also did a decent job, particularly Shubman Gill, who played a fantastic knock. GT would want a similar show against a strong Rajasthan Royals unit.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals will be high on confidence after defeating Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk Stadium. Devdutt Padikkal played a fine knock against CSK after going through a rough patch earlier, which bolsters RR’s batting unit further. With the ball, Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal again weaved their magic. Overall, Rajasthan Royals are looking very stable like the last season.
Expect a riveting contest between the last year’s finalists.

MI vs KKR Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report: IPL 2023 Match 22 | MI vs KOL Dream11 Prediction Today | Wankhede Pitch Report
Mumbai Indians (MI) will face off against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 22nd match of IPL 2023 at Wankhede Stadium. MI registered their first win of the season in the last game against Delhi Capitals. The form of Rohit Sharma will please Mumbai Indians, and they would want him to continue the good run. MI bowlers also did a decent job in the match, but the challenge is now backing it up against a KKR side that is capable of scoring big.
Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders suffered a defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday (April 14). Their bowlers looked out of sorts as SRH batters belted them all over the park. While Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh batted well, KKR couldn’t get over the finishing line. The Knight Riders would want other batters to support Nitish and Rinku as they enter a crucial phase of the league, which means the onus is on the top order to deliver.
Despite losing their last game, Kolkata Knight Riders might stick with the same XI, pending Andre Russell’s fitness.
Kolkata Knight Riders possible bat first XI: 1. Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wk) (OS), 2. N Jagadeesan, 3. Venkatesh Iyer, 4. Nitish Rana (c), 5. Andre Russell (OS), 6. Rinku Singh, 7. Shardul Thakur, 8. Sunil Narine (OS), 9. Lockie Ferguson (OS), 10. Umesh Yadav, 11. Varun Chakravarthy
Possible Impact Player substitute: Venkatesh Iyer out, Suyash Sharma in.
Kolkata Knight Riders possible bowl first XI: 1. Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wk) (OS), 2. N Jagadeesan, 3. Nitish Rana (c), 4. Andre Russell (OS), 5. Rinku Singh, 6. Shardul Thakur, 7. Sunil Narine (OS), 8. Suyash Sharma, 9. Lockie Ferguson (OS), 10. Umesh Yadav, 11. Varun Chakravarthy
Key Players to Watch/Key Stats
Rohit Sharma likes batting against Kolkata Knight Riders. In 31 innings, the MI captain has 1020 runs at a sensational average of 42.50 and a strike rate of 129.77 against them. Rohit has also made six half-centuries and a century against KKR.
Cameron Green hasn’t fired as per the expectations so far. However, he batted well in the last game against Delhi Capitals, scoring 17 runs at a strike rate of 212.50. The surface in Wankhede will also suit him with both bat and ball.
Suryakumar Yadav has been out of touch for a while now. However, he boasts of having a decent record against KKR. Since 2018, Suryakumar has scored 337 runs at a 42.12 average and a 145.25 strike rate against them. Can this match finally bring SKY’s magic back?
Tilak Varma is a must-pick player in the fantasy team. The southpaw has barely put a foot wrong in the tournament. In the three innings, Tilak has accumulated 147 runs at a 73.50 average and a strike rate of 158.06 this year.
Jason Behrendorff might enjoy bowling with the new ball at Wankhede. The bowlers get some swing in the powerplay, and Behrendorff had also done it in the past.
Kolkata Knight Riders:
Rahmanullah Gurbaz has batted reasonably well in IPL 2023. The boundaries are relatively short in Wankhede, and Gurbaz can exploit it. He just needs to be cautious against Jason Behrendorff, though.
Venkatesh Iyer has looked in good nick this season. In the three innings, Iyer has 146 runs at a sublime batting average of 73 and a strike rate of 153.68 against Mumbai Indians. With the kind of form he’s in, Iyer can build on this impressive record.
Nitish Rana played an excellent knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last game. Overall, Rana has 145 runs at an average of 36.25 and a strike rate of 157.60 in IPL 2023. Expect another quality knock against Mumbai Indians.
Andre Russell doesn’t require any validation. While Russell hasn’t been in good form with the willow, he is a runaway match-winner on his day. In the last game against SRH, Russell also snared three vital wickets with the ball.
Rinku Singh is the talisman of Kolkata Knight Riders. He made a fighting fifty against Sunrisers Hyderabad in a losing cause. Rinku can again do some damage to an already depleted MI bowling unit.
Sunil Narine has scalped 23 wickets at a strike rate of 20.65 against Mumbai Indians. He also concedes only 6.60 runs per over against them. Another good outing is well on the cards.

IPL 2023 Match 22: MI vs KKR Match Prediction– Who will win?
Mumbai Indians are very strong at Wankhede Stadium. Kolkata Knight Riders have played some good cricket this season, but they have fallen in and out of matches this season. Expect the chasing team to prevail with both bowling attacks under par at the moment.

The 24-year-old brought up his century off just 55 deliveries as he delivered his first impactful performance since setting foot in the league as one of its most expensive players at a cost of Rs 13.25 crore. He was well supported by the SRH skipper Aiden Markram, who struck 50 runs in 26 deliveries with two boundaries and five sixes.
The duo stitched together a 72-run partnership in 7.5 overs to steer SRH to a majestic total of 228 at the end of 20 overs, with a great contribution from Abhishek Sharma, too.
The KKR bowlers were taken to the cleaners with young spinner Suyash Sharma bearing the major brunt – conceding 48 runs in his four-over spell. Lockie Ferguson conceded 37 in his two overs as well and Indian speedster Umesh Yadav gave away 42 runs in three overs. Brook took a special liking to the KKR fast bowlers as Markram and Abhishek took down their spinners to perfection.
Harry Brook said, "my girlfriend is here, but the rest of the family just left. I knew this would happen as soon as they left I'll get some runs (laughs)". pic.twitter.com/TJatdittlh
For all the sensational shots he’s played, Harry Brook has also provided a masterclass on T20 innings management tonight. Absolutely massacred pace but then swallowed his ego & played the field against spin. Brilliant knock #IPL2023
Harry Brook announces himself to the IPL. No doubt teams will limit the amount of pace they bowl to him going forward, but this has been such a fun watch. Quality, quality hundred.#IPL2023
Wonderful century by Harry Brook he’a an exciting young batsman with excellent eye-hand co-ordination and innovative strokeplay. No dull moment when he is in the middle
However, KKR sure did breathe some life into the chase as captain Nitish Rana played an incredible knock of 75 runs in merely 40 deliveries. He found a fantastic partner in Rinku Singh, who hit four boundaries and sixes each en route his 58 runs in 31 balls. The left-handed duo ensured that Kolkata stayed in the game till the backend of the innings as they ensured that they put every bad delivery into the stands. The chase lost all its vigour with Rana’s dismissal in the 17th over and even Rinku’s late attempts were insufficient to fetch them two points eventually. KKR rounded off their innings at 205 at the loss of seven wickets.
46(33) vs RCB. 48*(21) vs GT. 58*(31) vs SRH.
3 consecutive masterclass by Rinku Singh under pressure, he is turning out to be a different beast for KKR. pic.twitter.com/yHqBRbZ8RD
“SunRisers HARRYbad" Good for #IPL that #HarryBrook has shaken off the cobwebs. The biggest white ball star on the horizon. 228 was too high a mountain but another valiant effort from @NitishRana_27 and pocket rocket @rinkusingh235 – @Russell12A the muscle needs to join the party
Despite the end result, Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh have again proved why they are being rated highly this season. But it was all dwarfed by Harry Brook's madness. #KKRvsSRH#IPL2023
228 was a too high score to chase but #KKR tried well. Unfortunately, #Russel disappointed with bat once again. Gurbaaz & Venkatesh too had a bad day. But #RinkuSingh shined again. #NitishRana was terrific. This defeat is not hurting much. It’s okay. Congrats #SRH#SRHvsKKR
KKR will now head over across the coast to face Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday whereas SRH’s next match is also against Mumbai – on April 18th in Hyderabad.
