West Indies vs England 5th ODI Preview Dream11. WI vs ENG 5th ODI Preview Dream11 Prediction
A series that has delivered big talking points, excellent atmosphere, unexpected moments and plenty of big hitting reaches its crescendo.
It has just rekindled hope of a big year for West Indies. They were on track to chase a mammoth 419 in the fourth ODI, which they should have got to in the end. The fatal final over against Adil Rashid may have dampened the spirits on that day itself, but the Windies have shown their capabilities. They still have the chance to level the series, which will be some effort against the world number one side. Can the bowlers hold their own, and get one more huge innings from Chris Gayle?
England have once again highlighted their incredible batting ability. There have been six totals of 400 since the 2015 World Cup, and England have scored four of them. However, Wednesday’s incredible onslaught should have been enough for an easy win, which wasn’t the case. Should England be concerned about their bowling? Will it come to haunt them in the World Cup? Here, the focus needs to be on a complete performance not only to seal the series, but to inspire further confidence in a World Cup year.
Key to a West Indies win
West Indies will be hoping for a strong Gayle in St Lucia. Instead of heavy rain and damaging wind, the Windies will be keen to send out danger warnings for heavy hitting and damaging strokeplay. Chris Gayle, who has hinted at ‘un-retirement’ has had a superb series, setting the tone, even if he had slow starts earlier in the series. A fast start from him again enables others around him to play with freedom. So, it is of disappointment to the Windies that Shai Hope hasn’t quite got going in the last couple of matches, so the onus is on him to compete with England’s magnificent wicket keeper batsman, Jos Buttler. Can Shimron Hetmyer also play another innings of substance, setting a platform for a strong middle-lower order to go big?
However, the big need for improvement for the Windies is with the ball. They conceded a world record 24 sixes in the fourth ODI, after they were so fantastic in defending 289 in the second ODI. Jason Holder had a rare off-day, and Devendra Bishoo was entrusted to bowl just four overs, struggling in the powerplay. It was carnage all-round, which began with a very fast powerplay, much like the first ODI. So, it is no coincidence that in the game the Windies won, they broke the opening partnership early and got into England’s lineup. Can they do the same in the final match?

Key to an England win
It is a sight to behold when England get going, even as a rival fan. Their ability to trade blows for an extended period of time is testament to their number one ranking. They are continuously leading the way in ODI batting, and to win the series, you feel another strong batting display is of need. Both wins have been accompanied by strong powerplays, which will be key here, with the middle order then following up strongly. Eoin Morgan has been superb, and Jos Buttler has burst into life. Will it another day of carnage?

However, there is always the lingering thought in the back of England’s mind. Is their bowling good enough to get them home if their batting doesn’t quite fire? They have had their moments this series, but have largely gone the distance, which puts onus on the up-front bowlers, particularly in-form Mark Wood, to pick up early wickets. The back of Chris Gayle early can set the tone, with the change bowlers enabled to put pressure on the Windies’ middle order. England need to be a little better under pressure, with an example being Chris Woakes bowling wide half vollies and full tosses with mid off and cover up in the final overs. Will it be an all-round positive day for England?

Possible Playing 11
Do West Indies persist with Devendra Bishoo? Fabian Allen is in the squad, and could be given a chance. Andre Russell is also in the squad, but Carlos Brathwaite played arguably his best ODI in the fourth match. Could they both play?
West Indies: 1. Chris Gayle, 2. John Campbell, 3. Shai Hope (wk), 4. Darren Bravo, 5. Shimron Hetmyer, 6. Carlos Brathwaite, 7. Andre Russell/Fabian Allen, 8. Jason Holder (c), 9. Ashley Nurse, 10. Sheldon Cottrell, 11. Oshane Thomas

Chris Woakes conceded 91 runs in 10 overs last time out. It remains to be seen whether he plays. Same also for Moeen Ali, who went the distance in his two overs the other day. His figures this series read: 10-0-85-0, 7-0-51-0, 2-0-31-0.
England: 1. Jonny Bairstow, 2. Alex Hales/Jason Roy, 3. Joe Root, 4. Eoin Morgan (c), 5. Ben Stokes, 6. Jos Buttler (wk), 7. Moeen Ali, 8. Chris Woakes, 9. Liam Plunkett, 10. Adil Rashid, 11. Mark Wood
Dream11 Prediction
Stats and comments:
- The Darren Sammy International Stadium is typically slower in nature. Conditions are expected to be partly cloudly.
- Chris Gayle has 523 runs at 38.69 at Darren Sammy International Stadium. His form this series warrants him to be picked (135, 50, 162).
- Jos Buttler has burst into life. Shai Hope possesses class, which makes him a viable option, but how can Buttler be ignored?
- Eoin Morgan has had a superb series, continuing his amazing ODI form. His scores: 65, 70, 103.
- Jonny Bairstow showed some of his best form in Grenada. Wait till teams are announced to decide between Alex Hales or Jason Roy, if you wish to have an England opener other than Bairstow.
- Darren Bravo has been in promising form, making scores of 40, 25 and 61 this series. His record at St Lucia is poor, but his form this series has been solid.
- Sheldon Cottrell (6) and Oshane Thomas (4) have 10 wickets between them this series. Adil Rashid (9) and Mark Wood (5) are England’s leading wicket takers.

Match Prediction
How do you predict what will happen in this one?
West Indies have pushed England all the way in this series, and you can bet Jason Holder and his men won’t go down without a fight.
However, like the last game, I think England will sneak home thanks to those extra resources at their disposal.
