MI vs PBKS Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report: IPL 2023 Match 31 | MI vs PBKS Dream11 Prediction Today | Wankhede Pitch Report

Mumbai Indians (MI) will be up against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 31st match of IPL 2023. MI are flying high after three consecutive victories. The openers have managed to provide rapid starts, and the likes of Cameron Green and Tilak Varma have chipped in with useful contributions as well.

On the bowling front, Piyush Chawla has been terrific, whereas other bowlers have also chipped in with regular wickets. More of the same is the order of the day in the quest for four straight wins.

Meanwhile, Punjab Kings lost their last game against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Mohali. Shikhar Dhawan’s absence has hurt them badly. Their batting unit is short in experience, which has been visible in the last few games. PBKS will look to rectify their mistakes and display a better performance against Mumbai Indians.

Mumbai Indians:

  • Suryakumar Yadav has not been in great form lately. However, he played a fantastic knock of 43 runs off 25 balls, with the help of four boundaries and three maximums in his last outing at Wankhede. Suryakumar Yadav can again play a crucial knock at a venue where he has scored many runs earlier.
  • Cameron Green was the Player of the Match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last game. He first made 64 runs at a strike rate of 160 with the willow. Later, Green also picked up a wicket while conceding only 29 runs with the ball. The track in Wankhede will also suit him.
  • Piyush Chawla has impressed one and all in his comeback season. In the five innings, Chawla has seven wickets at a strike rate of 17.14 and an economy rate of 7.15. He will be eager to perform well against his former franchise.

Punjab Kings

  • Shikhar Dhawan might return for the game against Mumbai Indians. The southpaw has 871 runs at an average of 39.59 and a strike rate of 127.71 against MI. This includes six half-centuries.
  • Prabhsimran Singh has been one of the few batting performers for PBKS this season. He has played a few good innings here and there. The track in Mumbai is generally good for batting, and Prabhsimran might enjoy batting here.
  • Liam Livingstone didn’t have a great outing in the last game. However, he is a quality all-rounder who provides value with both bat and ball. PBKS would want him to step up now.
  • Sam Curran has five wickets at a strike rate of 14.40 in three innings against Mumbai Indians. He has also made 78 runs at a strike rate of 139.28, which includes a half-century.
  • Jitesh Sharma is a quality batter. In his short IPL career, Jitesh has often played useful knocks at a stage when others couldn’t support him well. In his only IPL innings against MI, Jitesh made 30 runs at a strike rate of 200, including two boundaries and as many sixes.
  • Arshdeep Singh is a certain pick in the fantasy team. He has bowled amazingly well this season. In the six games, Arshdeep has nine wickets at an average of 19.44 and a strike rate of 14.

LSG vs GT Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report: IPL 2023 Match 30

LSG vs GT Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report: IPL 2023 Match 30 | LSG vs GT Dream11 Prediction Today | Lucknow Pitch Report

The two newest teams of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans, will face off in the first game of the doubleheader on Saturday (April 22). KL Rahul-led LSG will be high on confidence after defeating Rajasthan Royals by 10 runs at Jaipur in their last game. However, there is still room for improvement as a unit.

The Indian batters – Ayush Badoni and Deepak Hooda – have had underwhelming outings so far. Apart from them, KL Rahul will also look to improve his scoring rate, for which he has received a lot of flak lately. But, the bowling attack continues to produce, and they will be aiming for more of the same.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans lost their last game against Rajasthan Royals. They were cruising to a victory before Shimron Hetmyer played an unbelievable knock to guide RR home. This defeat can deter the confidence of GT’s bowling unit, which is supposed to be the best in the competition. However, Gujarat Titans are a quality team and will look to bounce back strongly.

A contest between two quality teams will be mouth-watering. Even in the previous edition, LSG and GT played good cricket all around.

  • KL Rahul has played two vital knocks in the past two games. The LSG skipper is known for his consistency in the league. However, Rahul should be cautious against Mohammed Shami early in the innings.
  • Deepak Hooda has had a rough season so far. However, he is a quality batter and can regain his form soon. In the two innings last season, Hooda scored: 55 (41) & 27 (26) against Gujarat Titans.
  • Marcus Stoinis has had good outings in the tournament. Stoinis was the Player of the Match against Rajasthan Royals in the last game. His cutters into the pitch will be threatening again if the surface is slow in Lucknow.

  • Hardik Pandya provides value in all departments. After a few below-par games, Hardik looked in good shape against Rajasthan Royals in the last match. He made 28 runs off 19 balls, his highest score this season. With the ball, Hardik scalped a wicket while conceding only 24 runs.
  • Rashid Khan doesn’t need any introduction. He is a runaway match-winner in this format. In the two matches, Rashid has five wickets at a fantastic strike rate of 9.40 and an economy rate of 6.51 against Lucknow Super Giants.
  • Mohammed Shami wreaked havoc against LSG last year. In the first game, Shami took three wickets for 25 runs. In the second game, he snared one wicket while conceding only five runs in the three overs. Expect him to stifle a few batters again.
  • Shami has had the better of KL Rahul in the IPL: 17 balls, 13 runs, two wickets.

Get rid of second new ball in ODIs – Sachin Tendulkar

Cricket News: Get rid of second new ball in ODIs – Sachin Tendulkar | Sachin Tendulkar provides his thoughts on the future of ODI cricket

Cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar has reiterated his desire to see One Day International (ODI) cricket move back to just the one ball. He believes that two balls takes away reverse swing; an element that made ODI cricket an attractive product particularly in the 1990s and 2000s.

Ahead of his 50th birthday, Tendulkar spoke to journalists about why ODIs are skewed too heavily towards batting teams, with a couple of important solutions.

“I feel all three formats are completely different. Somewhere I do feel one-day format, people need to have a look at it closely,” Tendulkar said. “I feel there is an imbalance between the bat and the ball. It is too much in favour of the batters at this point.”

“With two new balls, even in the 25th over, the ball is literally 12 or 13 overs old. There is no such thing as reverse swing or the discolouration of the ball, or the ball becoming soft. These factors really put a lot of pressure on the bowling side. There were challenges [for batters] where one did not pick the ball because of the discolouration. That was an advantage for a bowler.

“And with field restrictions, we need to balance that out. Give some advantage to the bowlers as well. I find that element missing in ODI cricket right now.”

This is not the first time Tendulkar has provided his thoughts on the issue. In the England-Australia ODI series in 2018, Tendulkar tweeted that bowling teams have next to no chance in the death overs.

“Having 2 new balls in one day cricket is a perfect recipe for disaster as each ball is not given the time to get old enough to reverse. We haven’t seen reverse swing, an integral part of the death overs, for a long time,” he tweeted.

“There is no such thing as reverse swing or the discolouration of the ball, or the ball becoming soft. These factors really put a lot of pressure on the bowling side.”

Sachin Tendulkar on the playing conditions in ODIs.

Tendulkar also touched on the fielding restrictions. He believes that with only four fielders allowed outside the ring between overs 11 and 40, spinners are forced to bowl defensively instead of looking for wickets.

“If an offspinner is bowling, he is forced to bowl a middle-stump line,” Tendulkar said. “Because you either have to have your deep point in the ring or you need to bring in the long-off because on the on side, you have three fielders in the deep and here you can have only one fielder in the deep.”

“So they cannot deceive a batter by getting him to play a cover drive. The overall opinion is that ‘we have to kind of settle for a defensive line’. I would say that some adjustments need to be made.”

Fans share similar views to Sachin Tendulkar regarding ODIs

CricBlog recently ran a survey regarding the future of cricket. 33.6% of the 1,000+ respondents said that ODIs will not be around by 2037. Also, 52.4% of the respondents picked ODIs as the format to drop to reduce scheduling pressures.

With regards to boosting the format, 35% said that there should be a move back to one ball. Also, nearly 40% said more sporting pitches are crucial, while 58.1% believe that fewer T20 Internationals can make fans look forward to ODIs more.

CSK vs SRH Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report: IPL 2023 Match 29

CSK vs SRH Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report: IPL 2023 Match 29 | CHE vs SRH Dream11 Prediction Today | Chepauk Pitch Report

If Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) thought facing spin was tricky earlier in IPL 2023, a whole other challenge is likely to be coming their way at Chepauk. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are aiming to consolidate their place in the top four, and have the perfect chance to do so at home against an SRH side that has had their issues when playing spin.

However, the IPL almost always throws up curveballs. If CSK believe they can win just by turning up, they may have another thing coming with SRH having a number of excellent players in their ranks. With MS Dhoni as the leader, though, expect CSK to be switched on and ready to go after their great win against RCB under pressure.

For SRH, it’s go time. They can either join the other five teams on six points on be stuck with KKR on four. There was plenty of optimism about their chances before the start of the season, so whether they can translate that into positive results is the challenge.

Match Details

  • Location: MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai.
  • Time: 7:30pm (IST).
  • Last match for both teams: CSK beat RCB by eight runs, SRH lost to MI by 14 runs.

IPL 2023 Match 29: CSK vs SRH Possible XIs

Matheesha Pathirana was excellent at the death against RCB, so much so that “Baby Malinga” received praise from the great Lasith Malinga. However, CSK may wish to go with another spin option in Mitchell Santner.

Chennai Super Kings possible XII (with possible impact player substitutes in italic bold): 1. Ruturaj Gaikwad, 2. Devon Conway (OS), 3. Ajinkya Rahane, 4. Shivam Dube, 5. Ambati Rayudu, 6. Moeen Ali (OS), 7. Ravindra Jadeja, 8. MS Dhoni (c & wk), 9. Tushar Deshpande, 10. Maheesh Theekshana, 11. Matheesha Pathirana/Mitchell Santner (OS), 12. Akash Singh

Similarly, SRH have the option of overseas spinners in Akeal Hosein or Adil Rashid. Also, Hosein provides a handy left-hand batting option.

Sunrisers Hyderabad possible XII (with possible impact player substitutes in italic bold): 1. Harry Brook (OS), 2. Mayank Agarwal, 3. Rahul Tripathi, 4. Aiden Markram (c) (OS), 5. Abhishek Sharma, 6. Heinrich Klaasen (wk) (OS), 7. Abdul Samad, 8. Washington Sundar, 9. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 10. Marco Jansen/Akeal Hosein/Adil Rashid (OS), 11. Mayank Markande, 12. • What the IPL will look like
  • and more…

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

Chennai Super Kings:

  • Devon Conway hammered 83 last game against RCB and 85 against SRH in IPL 2022.
  • Ruturaj Gaikwad has struck 235 runs at an average of 58.75 and strike rate of 154.61 against SRH. He has scored 33 runs off 13 balls against Umran Malik (no dismissal) and 21 off 22 balls against Bhuvneshwar Kumar (no dismissal).
  • Ajinkya Rahane is in superb touch. He is striking at 195.45 this season.
  • Ravindra Jadeja has a terrible record against SRH (18 inns, 5 wickets, avg. 76.00, econ. 7.81), but he will be key against their long list of right-handers. The spinner was excellent in the last game at Chepauk, where he took 2/21 against RR and spun the ball sharply.
  • Maheesh Theekshana has been expensive so far in IPL 2023, but expect him to test SRH. Harry Brook has been dismissed twice by spin so far this season at a strike rate of just 100.

Sunrisers Hyderabad:

  • Rahul Tripathi strikes at 156.41 in four matches at Chepauk (122 runs, avg. 30.50). In ten matches overall against CSK, he strikes at 149.68 with 232 runs to his name (avg. 29.00).
  • Aiden Markram is crucial to SRH’s hopes. In 19 T20s this year, the SRH captain has made 562 runs at an average of 37.47 and strike rate of 140.
  • Abhishek Sharma has a vital role to play against CSK’s spinners. Since the start of 2022, Abhishek has scored 187 runs at an average of 26.7 and strike rate of 162.6 against spin.
  • Washington Sundar needs to step up for SRH. This is the game he can. In T20s since the start of 2022, Devon Conway has been dismissed four times in 103 balls against offspin at a strike rate of just 115.53.
  • Mayank Markande in IPL 2023: 3 inns, 6 wickets, avg. 12.83, econ. 6.41. Also, he has taken three wickets in as many games against CSK.

Other Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 19, CSK 14, SRH 5.
  • Harry Brook scored a century two games ago. But, Chepauk will be a bigger test given he strikes at just 100 against spin this season.
  • T Natarajan has dismissed Ruturaj Gaikwad twice in 17 balls in the IPL (27 runs).
  • Bhuvneshwar Kumar has had Ajinkya Rahane’s number in the IPL. In 103 balls, Kumar has dismissed Rahane six times for just 90 runs.
  • Since the start of 2021, Shivam Dube has been dismissed four times in 63 balls against high pace (82 runs). So, SRH may bowl Umran Malik (if picked) to him.
  • Heinrich Klaasen in T20s in 2023: 13 inns, 402 runs, avg. 50.25, SR 168.91.

MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai Pitch Report and Weather

The Chepauk surface took some significant turn in the CSK-RR match. Pace bowlers have generally been expensive on this ground this season. Expect this to be the case once again in this match, especially given SRH’s worries against spin.

A hot and clear night is forecast.

PBKS vs RCB Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report IPL 2023 Match 27 | PBKS vs RCB Dream11 Prediction Today | Mohali Pitch Report

Punjab Kings (PBKS) face off against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 27th game of IPL 2023. Punjab Kings, perhaps surprisingly to some, have won three of their five games in the season. They will be high on confidence after a two-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants in their last match, which was achieved without Shikhar Dhawan.

Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered an 8-run defeat in a high-scoring clash against Chennai Super Kings. Apart from their star batters at the top, others have not made a significant contribution with the willow. Also, their bowlers have left plenty to be desired in the middle and death overs. RCB would want them to step up now as they enter a crucial phase of the league.

Both teams have quality players in their squads. So expect some good cricket between them.

Match Details

  • Location: Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali, Chandigarh.

  • Liam Livingstone is one of the best T20 players at the moment. In the four innings against RCB, Livingstone has 106 runs at an average of 35.33 and a strike rate of 155.88. His bowling expertise is a bonus.
  • Sikandar Raza was the Man of the Match in the last game. He took a wicket and later scored a match-winning half-century (57) against LSG. His bowling will again be very effective on the Mohali track, given it’s a day game.
  • Sam Curran bowled really well in the last game, snaring three vital wickets. He has five wickets at a strike rate of 16.80 against RCB. His cutters will be threatening again. Curran can also contribute with the bat if required.

Australia Test squad for 2023 WTC Final & Ashes

Cricket News: Australia Test squad for 2023 WTC Final & Ashes | Who made the Australia squad for the 2023 WTC Final & Ashes?

Australia have announced a 17-man Test squad for the 2023 World Test Championship (WTC) Final against India and first two Ashes Tests against England. Pat Cummins is back as captain after missing the last two Tests against India due to family reasons, while Matthew Renshaw has also been named after impressing for Australia A recently in New Zealand.

Australia Test squad: WTC Final & first two Ashes Tests

Pat Cummins (c), Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Marcus Harris, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Todd Murphy, Matthew Renshaw, Steve Smith (vc), Mitchell Starc, David Warner

Mitchell Marsh has been included in the squad as cover for Cameron Green ahead of the likes of Aaron Hardie. Also unlucky to miss out was Cameron Bancroft, who hit the most runs in the recently completed 2022/23 Sheffield Shield season. David Warner has been picked, with the selectors showing faith in the veteran opener who has struggled for form over the past couple of years.

“Marcus (Harris), Josh (Inglis, reserve keeper) and Mitch (Marsh) return to the squad and will provide valuable depth and flexibility within their respective skillsets,” said national selection panel chair George Bailey.

“We see value in revisiting the squad following the second Ashes Test given the short turnaround between the WTC Final and the first Ashes Test, along with the length of the tour.”

The WTC Final will be played at The Oval in London from 7 June to 11 June. The Ashes begins five days later at Edgbaston, the venue where Steve Smith made a superb return to Test cricket back in 2019.

Australia’s possible XI for WTC Final against India: 1. David Warner, 2. Usman Khawaja, 3. Marnus Labuschagne, 4. Steve Smith, 5. Travis Head, 6. Cameron Green, 7. Alex Carey (wk), 8. Mitchell Starc, 9. Pat Cummins (c), 10. Nathan Lyon, 11. Josh Hazlewood

Hearing rumours that Jofra Archer is on his way back home – Simon Doull

Cricket News: Hearing rumours that Jofra Archer is on his way back home – Simon Doull | Simon Doull mentions Jofra Archer on Cricbuzz

Former New Zealand pacer and current commentator Simon Doull mentioned on Cricbuzz Live that Mumbai Indians (MI) pacer Jofra Archer might be heading back to England as he continues to nurse the injury that has kept him out of Indian Premier League (IPL) action since April 1.

“I am hearing rumours that Jofra is on his way back home,” Doull said as he along with Harsha Bhogle and host Saiyami Kher previewed the MI vs Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) game that will be held in the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Tuesday.

Archer played Mumbai’s first match of the season against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium at the start of the month. He didn’t look to be going full throttle as he conceded 33 runs in his four overs and didn’t scalp a wicket eventually. He has missed every MI game since then with head coach Mark Boucher saying that the bowler has picked up a niggle.

However, rumours surfacing from Doull’s statement suggest that Archer’s time in this IPL season might be over already. There has been no official statement regarding the same from the franchise but Archer’s continued absence does spark some speculation about his prevalent injury situation.

“He’s picked up a little niggle. We’ve got a fantastic medical team that are looking after him. He’s obviously a massive player for us, so hopefully they can pass him fit sometime soon,” Boucher touched upon Archer’s injury situation earlier this month.

“We will always look after the player, so if he’s not ready to put his hand up to play then we’ll look after him as well, but we’re following medical advice from our team at the moment. Hopefully he’s up for selection pretty soon,” he had added.

RR vs LSG Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report IPL 2023 Match 26

RR vs LSG Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report: IPL 2023 Match 26 | RR vs LSG Dream11 Prediction Today | Jaipur Pitch Report

The exciting, exhilarating and fascinating Rajasthan Royals (RR) make their long-awaited return to the Sawai Masingh Stadium in Jaipur. The 2022 finalists have started this season in very promising fashion, winning four of their first five matches to sit atop the IPL 2023 table. Their fans will be thrilled to welcome them, and they will be after the perfect homecoming.

The Royals showed their potential championship quality against the current champions Gujarat Titans. With many critics believing RR may rely too much on their openers, the middle order, particularly Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer, turned it on to orchestrate a magnificent run chase. Here, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will be sure to test them with their balanced lineup, so how RR execute with both bat and ball will be fascinating to see.

LSG need to bounce back. They would have been disappointed to not seal victory against a Dhawan-less Punjab over the weekend, and as a result need a victory to consolidate a top four spot with a host of teams on six points. KL Rahul found form with a half-century, but his strike rate is still in focus, while the middle order and bowling attack will be seeking to get the better of their Royals’ counterparts.

Match Details

  • Location: Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.
  • Time: 7:30pm (IST).
  • Last match for both teams: RR beat GT by three wickets, LSG lost to PBKS by two wickets.

  • Pooran has a magnificent record against Chahal in T20s. In 40 deliveries, he has hammered 73 runs for just the one dismissal.
  • Watch out for Marcus Stoinis. He scored 38* (17) and 27 (17) against RR last season.
  • Avesh Khan dismissed Jos Buttler twice last season. However, Buttler has hit 35 off 14 balls against him. Interesting battle.
  • Avesh has restricted Samson quite well in the IPL (26 balls, 28 runs, one dismissal).
  • LSG may use Ravi Bishnoi against Hetmyer. The legspinner has had the better of the left-hander in all T20s, conceding just 22 off 27 balls with two dismissals.
  • Mark Wood has taken 11 wickets so far in IPL 2023, which is the most of any bowler along with Yuzvendra Chahal and Rashid Khan.

However, under lights, we can expect a good surface. The average first innings score in the 2018 IPL was 161.2 followed by 163.43 in 2019. The chasing team won 64.3% of the matches across both those seasons.

A warm and clear evening is forecast in Jaipur.

Lasith Malinga praises “Baby Malinga” Matheesha Pathirana

Cricket News: Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga appreciated the execution by Matheesha Pathirana in the death overs in the CSK v RCB game on Monday.

Former Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga lavished praise on his junior counterpart Matheesha Pathirana after the latter’s incredible effort in the death took the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) past the finishing line against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday.

“Impressive stuff Matheesha. Loved the way you handled the pressure at the death. Excellent execution,” Malinga wrote on Twitter after Pathirana conceded only 14 in the 18th and 20th overs combined to put breaks on what appeared to be a definite onslaught from RCB at one point in time.

Pathirana replied with a picture of Malinga training him and quipped, “Thank you Legend. Keep supporting like you always do.”

Pathirana conceded 42 in his two overs and took the crucial wickets of Shahbaz Ahmad and Suyash Prabhudesai in the 18th and the 20th overs respectively. He came back from an expensive opening spell to execute his plans to perfection and hold the RCB from rounding off an impressive victory.

The home team needed just 36 off the last 20 deliveries with six wickets in hand but they stumbled towards the end courtesy some excellent death bowling by Pathirana and Tushar Deshpande.

Dhoni on Pathirana and Deshpande

“It is a difficult one for the youngsters, especially at this time of the year with the dew around. But they are working hard. Bravo is one of the specialists. Under him, the bowlers will gain confidence. It’s a team game. The coach, the bowling coach and the senior players guide them,” CSK captain MS Dhoni spoke about the death bowling skills of his inexperienced pacers in the aftermath of the game.

Pathirana joined the CSK squad late as he was engaged in Sri Lanka’s tour to New Zealand and then was infected with Covid-19. However, his return holds positive signs for CSK as leaking runs towards the backend of the innings is something they need to wary of whilst entering the middle phases of the tournament.

SRH vs MI Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report: IPL 2023 Match 25

SRH vs MI Dream11 Prediction Possible 11 Pitch Report: IPL 2023 Match 25 | SRH vs MI Dream11 Prediction Today | Hyderabad Pitch Report

After a difficult start to IPL 2023, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (MI) have found life. Both teams have won their last two fixtures, with the goal of a coveted third straight victory to enter the top half of the table.

Such a scenario is similar to what SRH faced last season. After a bumpy start, they enjoyed a bit of a resurgence through the middle part of the campaign, and Aiden Markram’s team will be after something similar. Harry Brook announced himself to the IPL in wonderful fashion, with eyes now set to be on how he and his teammates tackle MI’s spinners.

For MI, their ability to chase is clear, but whether they can defend will be key. Jofra Archer’s availability is still up in the air, but if the likes of Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma and Tilak Varma can continue their recent form, a big score is possible.

Match Details

  • Location: Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad.
  • Time: 7:30pm (IST).
  • Last match for both teams: SRH beat KKR by 23 runs, MI beat KKR by five wickets.

IPL 2023 Match 25: SRH vs MI Possible Playing XIs

Mayank Agarwal’s form is a worry for SRH. One option they have is elevating Abhishek Sharma, who is a strong spin-hitter, to open with Harry Brook. Brook can target the pacers, while Abhishek can go after the spinners. However, Hyderabad may not want to bat Agarwal in the middle overs, nor drop him just yet.

Sunrisers Hyderabad possible bat-first XI: 1. Harry Brook (OS), 2. Mayank Agarwal, 3. Rahul Tripathi, 4. Aiden Markram (c) (OS), 5. Abhishek Sharma, 6. Heinrich Klaasen (wk) (OS), 7. Marco Jansen (OS), 8. Mayank Markande, 9. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 10. Umran Malik, 11. T Natarajan

Possible Impact Player substitute: Harry Brook or Mayank Agarwal out, Washington Sundar in.

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

Sunrisers Hyderabad:

  • Harry Brook smashed 100* off 55 balls against KKR. 66 of these runs came against pace off just 26 balls.
  • Aiden Markram played magnificently against KKR (50 off 26 balls). How he also fares against spin will be interesting to see, as he has been dismissed twice for just 23 runs in 18 balls this season.
  • In T20s this year, Markram has smashed 540 runs at an average of 38.57 and strike rate of 141.36.
  • Talking about playing spin, Abhishek Sharma is SRH’s key man. Since the start of 2022, Abhishek has struck 187 runs against spin at a strike rate of 164.00 in the IPL.
  • Marco Jansen has taken four wickets in two matches this season. All four have come in the powerplay, where he is conceding just five runs per over.
  • Since the start of 2022, Rohit Sharma has scored just 43 runs off 62 deliveries against left-arm seam in the IPL. He has been dismissed twice, so Jansen’s battle with the MI captain is key.
  • Mayank Markande has been a gem so far for SRH. He has taken 4/15 and 2/27.

Mumbai Indians:

  • Rohit Sharma has a modest record against SRH. He averages just 20.31 in 19 matches. He does, however, have solid numbers against Bhuvneshwar Kumar: 48 balls, 65 runs, one dismissal.
  • Ishan Kishan was at his best against KKR. He smashed 58 off 25 balls, including 24 off 10 against spin.
  • Against SRH, Kishan has scored 229 runs at an average of 28.63 and strike rate of 132.37.
  • Tim David is striking at 135.84 so far in IPL 2023, with signs of his best against KKR. Last season, he hammered 46 off 18 balls vs SRH.

  • Tilak Varma is MI’s leading run-scorer so far in IPL 2023 (177) at an average of 59.00 and strike rate of 150.00.
  • Piyush Chawla has been impressive this season (1/33, 3/22 & 1/19 in his past three games). He has a good record against Rahul Tripathi, with total figures of 2/7 off eight balls.

Other Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 19, SRH 9, MI 10.
  • Expect MI to use spin against Harry Brook right away. Brook’s strike rate against spin is just 100 so far this season (36 off 36 balls), with two dismissals.
  • Heinrich Klaasen in T20s in 2023: 13 inns, 402 runs, avg. 50.25, SR 168.91.
  • SRH should try Washington Sundar in the powerplay. He has total figures of 2/25 off 26 balls against Rohit Sharma in the IPL. Also, Ishan Kishan strikes at just 100 against him (40 off 40 balls).
  • Suryakumar Yadav found some form against KKR (43 off 25 balls). Against SRH, SKY has hit 247 runs in eight matches at an average of 30.88 and strike rate of 132.09.

Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad Pitch Report and Weather

Punjab scored 143/9 on this ground on April 10, but that score did not reflect how good the pitch was for batting. Shikhar Dhawan hit 99*, and SRH chased the score down easily with 17 balls to spare. Rahul Tripathi starred with 74 off 48 balls.

India and Australia played a T20I here last year. The surface was good for batting as both teams crossed 185. The IPL games were last played here in 2019. The average first innings score was 171.

A warm and mostly clear evening is forecast.
