AUS vs WI 2nd Test Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report

AUS vs WI 2nd Test Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report | AUS vs WI 2nd Test Dream11 Prediction Today | Adelaide Pitch Report

There is little time for reflection in a crazy cricket calendar. Just a few days after Australia won by 164 runs in the first Test, attention turns to the day-night Test in Adelaide.

The home side didn’t have it all their way, with West Indies showing some promising resistance at Perth. On top of that, Australia will be without Pat Cummins for this Test, while David Warner is in need of runs. But, for the Windies to threaten an upset victory, they need greater control and penetration from their bowlers, who combined for just six wickets in the entire Perth Test. To make matters worse, Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales and Kyle Mayers are all in doubt with injuries.

So, a lot will rest on the batsmen to challenge Australia. Kraigg Brathwaite continued his brilliant 2022 with another century, while Tagenarine Chanderpaul’s debut was full of promise. Whether the rest of the batting lineup can provide enough resistance is crucial, especially given the form Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne are in for Australia.

AUS vs WI 2nd Test Possible Playing XIs

Scott Boland will replace Pat Cummins. Steve Smith will captain the team, just as he did in the Adelaide Test last year. Details here.

Josh Hazlewood is also out. Michael Neser will replace him.

Australia: 1. David Warner, 2. Usman Khawaja, 3. Marnus Labuschagne, 4. Steve Smith (c), 5. Travis Head, 6. Cameron Green, 7. Alex Carey (wk), 8. Mitchell Starc, 9. Michael Neser, 10. Nathan Lyon, 11. Scott Boland

As mentioned, West Indies have a host of injury concerns. Kemar Roach is a chance of missing out due to a hamstring injury. Jayden Seales has a knee problem. So, both Anderson Phillip and Marquino Mindley may play.

West Indies: 1. Kraigg Brathwaite (c), 2. Tagenarine Chanderpaul, 3. Shamarh Brooks, 4. Kyle Mayers, 5. Jermaine Blackwood, 6. Jason Holder, 7. Joshua Da Silva (wk), 8. Roston Chase, 9. Alzarri Joseph, 10. Kemar Roach/Anderson Phillip, 11. Jayden Seales/Marquino Mindley

  • Alzarri Joseph’s spell to Marnus Labuschagne at Perth was a bright spot for West Indies. Can he deliver for the Windies, particularly under lights?
  • Roston Chase scored a solid 55 in the second innings at Perth. His control with the ball will be under the spotlight as the Adelaide surface can aid spin later in the game.
  • Jason Holder went wicketless at Perth. But, his ability to move the ball around can be key under lights in Adelaide. Don’t write off the Windies’ all-rounder just yet.

The average first innings score in the last five Tests at Adelaide is 399.6. Expect the team who wins the toss to bat.

In terms of the weather, cloudy conditions is forecast for day one with a top of 21 degrees. It will then warm up to 25 degrees and 33 degrees on Friday and Saturday respectively, with mostly sunny conditions. There is a chance of rain on Sunday, but not too much.

David Warner may retire from Tests if he has a poor South Africa series – Ian Chappell

Cricket News: David Warner may retire from Tests if he has a poor South Africa series – Ian Chappell | Chappell on David Warner

Former Australian skipper Ian Chappell has suggested that a knife might be hanging over Australian opener David Warner’s head provided he fails to deliver in the team’s upcoming three-match Test series vs South Africa. Chappell predicted that Warner’s Test career could possibly take ominous turns on the back of a rather long-drawn spell of poor form in red-ball cricket.

The southpaw scored 5 and 48 in the two innings of Australia’s thumping victory by 164 runs against the West Indies in the opening Test in Perth. However, the 36-year-old has been far from his best in the longest format of the game over the last couple of years. He averages merely 22.79 in eight Tests played in 2022 and the last of his 26 centuries came way back in January 2020 at the Sydney Cricket Ground against New Zealand.

Australia’s upcoming assignments against South Africa and India, along with the remaining Test vs West Indies, are critical with respect to their qualification prospects for the finals of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23. The Pat Cummins-led side will also be heading to England for the Ashes next year. Under these circumstances, questions are being raised over Warner’s continuity in the Test side and Chappell seems to have made a nuanced comment on the same.

If Warner flops against South Africa, he may give up Tests – Ian Chappell

“Warner is quite smart, and I think he will understand all those things. It will be up to him to know himself. He’ll probably get a better idea after they play South Africa. He’ll be facing a really good pace attack. If that is a flop, well, Keith Miller had the best take on retirement that I’ve heard, he was asked why he retired, and he said he wanted to retire when people were saying, ‘Why did you’ rather than, ‘Why don’t you’,” Chappell was quoted by the Wide World Of Sports (WWOS).

Chappell added, “That could be a question for Warner before he goes to England, or even before he goes to India, if the South African series is a disaster for him.”

However, the 79-year-old also acknowledged the lack of a suitable replacement to Warner and stated that finding a better alternative is always a tougher task than dropping a player from the team. “It’s up to Warner to realise that. I think they’ll take him to India and England if he makes himself available. I’ve always said the easy thing with selection is to drop a guy, the harder thing is to find someone better. That is definitely the case with Warner,” Chappell explained.

The veteran cricketer-turned-commentator also revealed that the Sheffied Shield doesn’t paint a very pretty picture as most of the leading run-scorers have already been tried and tested in the Australian setup before. He also did not express any confidence in Marcus Harris and proclaimed Matthew Renshaw to be a better player than him.

Chappell also said that Usman Khawaja, who averages 51.20 with four centuries and half-centuries from eight Tests this year, could struggle against quality attacks of India and South Africa. However, he backed Warner to take a call on his Test retirement at an appropriate time.

“I think David is smart enough to say, ‘That’s it’ if it does hit him suddenly, because to me retirement is the one decision that is selfish. You make it for one person, and one person only. If you suddenly realise it’s all over, you’re best to say it’s over right now,” Chappell signed off.

Pat Cummins out of 2nd Test, Steve Smith to captain

Cricket News: Pat Cummins out of 2nd Test, Steve Smith to captain | Pat Cummins ruled out of Adelaide Day/Night Test

Australian skipper Pat Cummins has been ruled out of the team’s second Test vs West Indies in Adelaide due to a quad injury. The 29-year-old did not bowl in the second innings of the team’s victory against the visiting Caribbean side in Perth. However, he was confident of returning to the XI for the final game of the series that will commence on 9th December.

“It’s just a small strain so normally about a one-weeker. If you bowl and make it worse it can make it longer, but I’ll spend the next few days rehabbing, getting it right and think it’s a pretty good chance I’ll be good for Adelaide,” he was quoted as saying by the Sydney Morning Herald post the opening game of the series.

Cummins didn’t get through fitness test, so Steve Smith will lead

But, Cummins underwent a fitness test on Wednesday morning and his sidelining is being considered as a precautionary move as Australia will soon face South Africa at home for a three-match Test series starting from 17th December in at the Gabba.

Former captain Steve Smith, infamous for being at the helm of the controversial ‘sandpaper-gate’ scandal will lead Australia in the second Test against West Indies.

This is the second summer in a row that Smith will be the skipper for the Australian side in Adelaide. Last year, Cummins had to sit out of the game played here against England as he had come in close contact with a Covid-19 infected individual.

Scott Boland to replace Pat Cummins in playing XI

33-year-old Victoria pacer Scott Boland will replace Cummins in the playing XI. Australia are leading the series 1-0 courtesy a comfortable victory by 164 runs in the first Test of the series.

Marnus Labuschagne scored a double century and then a century in the first and the second innings respectively before Nathan Lyon picked a six-wicket haul in the fourth innings of the match to help Australia secure a victory. In the process, they bolstered their chances of claiming a top-two finish in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23 standings.

Boland played three Tests in Australia’s 4-0 rout at the Ashes last year. The 33-year-old pacer took 18 wickets in those three games and also got a five-wicket haul and a four-wicket haul to his name each.

Why was Rishabh Pant released from the India ODI squad?

Cricket News: Why was Rishabh Pant released from the India ODI squad? | Details on why Rishabh Pant was released from squad

Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant had asked the team management to release him from the One Day International (ODI) squad against Bangladesh, Cricbuzz reports. The publication has confirmed that his withdrawal from the limited-overs leg of the tour is not due to any disciplinary reason or any Covid-19 scare. Pant is likely to come back for the Test series starting from 14th December onwards.

An official statement from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed that the southpaw was let go of from the squad on the recommendations of the medical team. However, Cricbuzz has mentioned that it cannot confirm the reason behind Pant seeking being released from the ODI series. No replacement has been sought but KL Rahul kept wickets in the first game and Ishan Kishan is already a part of the squad.

“In consultation with the BCCI Medical Team, Rishabh Pant has been released from the ODI squad. He will join the team ahead of the Test series. No replacement has been sought,” a BCCI statement regarding Pant read. Mohammed Shami had been ruled out of the entire series whereas Axar Patel was side-lined from the first ODI due to a rib injury.

Rishabh Pant released from ODI squad, but available for Tests

Patel, however, will be available for selection for the coming games. Shami, on the other hand, has reported to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to undergo rehabilitation for his shoulder injury. The team management is awaiting an update from the NCA regarding the same. This has put doubts over his possible participation in the Test series between the two nations starting from 14th December.

The two-match Test series is critical as it is India’s penultimate assignment of the on-going cycle of the World Test Championship (WTC). Also, the team has its backs against the wall owing to its loss in the opening ODI and will have to emerge victorious in consecutive games to avoid a rather embarrassing series defeat.

Babar Azam: We did not get the pitch that we wanted

Cricket News: Babar Azam: We did not get the pitch that we wanted | Babar Azam on Rawalpindi Pitch

Pakistan captain Babar Azam has revealed that the team did not get the pitch that they asked for in the aftermath of their 74-run loss against England in the opening Test of the series in Rawalpindi on Monday. Azam revealed that they wanted a turning track but also conceded that such a pitch could not be prepared probably because of the prevalent weather.

“We have a lot of input in the pitch, but we didn’t get the pitch we wanted. We couldn’t execute our plans. We wanted a turning pitch, but perhaps because of the weather and preparation, that sort of wicket couldn’t be created,” the 28-year-old said, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.

The Test was laden with some bold calls taken by the English team management coupled with Pakistan tumbling and fumbling after getting themselves in a comfortable position in the fourth innings chase. Chasing 343, they were standing at 176/3 at one stage before losing their last seven wickets for just 92 runs.

Saud Shakeel’s knock of 76 runs were ably supported by the likes of Imam-ul-Haq (46), Mohammad Rizwan (46) and Azhar Ali (40), with all three of them playing handy parts each. However, none of the batsmen were able to stick around long enough as England managed to breach past their defence with four-wicket hauls each by Ollie Robinson and James Anderson.

Disappointed to lose game on that pitch – Babar Azam

England demonstrated terrific intent by batting at a run rate of 6.5 and 7.43 in the first and second innings’ respectively. That, in tandem with a tenacious bowling effort, ensured that they carved out an opportunity to emerge victorious in a Test that was played in an absolutely dead, flat batting track. Azam revealed that the team was dejected at the continuous fall of wickets that prevented them from getting a hold over the game despite building some robust partnerships throughout the course of the chase.

“We are feeling very disappointed as a team. We had an opportunity to win the match. We were in the match the way we started. The way the batters built partnerships after lunch, we were quite confident,” Azam revealed.

He added, “But then back-to-back wickets fell and when the new batters came in they struggled. That put pressure on us, but we need to give credit to England the way they fought and put in a real effort.”

Meanwhile, the captain refrained from regretting over any errors in the selection of the final playing XI. “You can’t change your style suddenly and start playing the way the other side is playing. You have to play according to the situation, when to attack and when to defend,” he quipped, further explaining that the game was there for the taking and not for a draw.

The second Test of this series will commence on 9th December at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

Unlikely to risk Taskin Ahmed in 2nd ODI vs India – Domingo

Cricket News: Unlikely to risk Taskin Ahmed in 2nd ODI vs India – Domingo | Will Taskin Ahmed play in 2nd ODI vs India?

Bangladesh coach Russell Domingo has said that it is unlikely they will risk Taskin Ahmed in the second ODI of the ongoing series against India. Speaking to the media on the eve of the match, Domingo said that Taskin, who missed the first ODI due to a back complaint, was progressing well but may still need further time to reach full fitness.

The pace bowler had an injection a few days ago, followed by work in the gym. He has also had a bowl, with eyes on how he pulls up.

I’m not sure we want to risk playing Taskin yet – Russell Domingo

“Taskin had an injection about three or four days ago,” said the Bangladesh coach. “He has done a bit of gym yesterday and had a bit of a bowl today for five six overs. I’m not sure we want to risk playing him yet.”

After this ODI series, the Tigers will play two Tests against India, with the aim of spoiling the visitors’ World Test Championship aspirations.

“There is a lot of cricket to be played. There are a few Test matches and also have opportunity to keep developing the other fast bowlers. So I don’t think we want to risk playing him yet but he is on his way to recovery,” said Domingo.

Off the back of a Mehidy Hasan Miraz miracle, Bangladesh enter the second match with a 1-0 series lead. Should they win one of the final two matches, it will be their second straight bilateral ODI series win over India after their memorable 2-1 triumph in 2015.

An ODI between Bangladesh and India often provides some great talking points. That was the case again in the thrilling encounter on Sunday, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mustafizur Rahman pulling off a heist to take a 1-0 series lead.

Amid the drama, however, was the reminder that both teams have work to do ahead of next year’s World Cup. Bangladesh, despite their wonderful home record in ODIs in recent years, still have the propensity to lose quick wickets. India, who were meekly bundled out of the T20 World Cup semi-final, still have question marks around their intent.

So, it makes for an interesting second ODI. The Tigers are seeking their second-straight bilateral series win over their neighbours, while the visitors will be aiming to put their experience to good use. Another helpful pitch for the bowlers is expected, so it could come down to which side sets the better platform for launch in the final 15 overs.

BAN vs IND 2nd ODI Dream11 Prediction: Shakib Al Hasan was outstanding in the first ODI.

BAN vs IND 2nd ODI Possible Playing XI

Taskin Ahmed was ruled out of the first ODI due to a back complaint. Coach Russell Domingo said the pacer is unlikely to play. Tamim Iqbal will still be unavailable as he is out of the series altogether.

Bangladesh: 1. Najmul Hossain Shanto, 2. Litton Das (c), 3. Anamul Haque, 4. Shakib Al Hasan, 5. Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), 6. Mahmudullah, 7. Afif Hossain, 8. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, 9. Mustafizur Rahman, 10. Ebadot Hossain, 11. Hasan Mahmud

KL Rahul said this series is a chance to give other players a chance. Umran Malik, Rajat Patidar and Rahul Tripathi were the three players who didn’t play in the opening ODI. Rishabh Pant is not available and Axar Patel may return after missing the first ODI due to a bruised rib.

India: 1. Rohit Sharma (c), 2. Shikhar Dhawan, 3. Virat Kohli, 4. Shreyas Iyer, 5. KL Rahul (wk), 6. Washington Sundar, 7. Shahbaz Ahmed/Axar Patel, 8. Shardul Thakur, 9. Deepak Chahar, 10. Mohammed Siraj, 11. Kuldeep Sen/Umran Malik

Reactions: England pull off stunning win on awful Rawalpindi pitch

Cricket News: Reactions: England pull off stunning win on awful Rawalpindi pitch | England defy Rawalpindi pitch to beat Pakistan

Who would have thought that the highest-scoring five-day Test in history would be so thrilling? In further evidence of their revolution under Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes, England have pulled off one of their greatest victories on one of the poorest Test pitches in recent memory.

With light fading fast after the seamers inflicted all the damage, Jack Leach beat Naseem Shah’s inside edge to trap him in front and send England into delirium. Ollie Robinson (4/50) and the ageless James Anderson (4/36) were magnificent on an unforgiving pitch, while Ben Stokes (1/69) proved why he was a born leader.

Stokes’ brave declaration on day four with his team just 342 ahead breathed life into a Test that was on life support. On a Rawalpindi featherbed that resembled a day one surface right throughout the match, England’s seamers utilised reverse swing perfectly to pick up the seven of the eight wickets they needed on day five, while keeping Pakistan in check.

This indeed could be a watershed moment in Test history. With the game at a crossroads given international cricket’s hectic scheduling, England have provided a template on how to win on benign pitches. They scored at a rapid rate – the holders of the most runs ever on day one – to give themselves a shot at victory, and pulled it off some thanks to brilliant bowling and field placements.

Reactions: England pull off incredible win against Pakistan on flat Rawalpindi pitch

Here are some of the Twitter reactions to England’s magnificent victory. Remember, a number of their players were down with illness right before the match. Superb.

Will Pat Cummins play in the 2nd Test vs West Indies?

Cricket News: Will Pat Cummins play in the 2nd Test vs West Indies? | Pat Cummins speaks about his chances of playing 2nd Test

Australian skipper Pat Cummins said he is a good chance to bowl in the second Test vs West Indies after a small strain on his right quad prevented him from rolling his arm over in the second innings of the first match in Perth.

“If it [the match] got a bit tighter I was going to have a bowl, but I’m pretty happy I managed to not bowl to give myself a good chance,” Cummins was quoted in a report by the Sydney Morning Herald.

He added, “It’s just a small strain so normally about a one-weeker. If you bowl and make it worse it can make it longer, but I’ll spend the next few days rehabbing, getting it right and think it’s a pretty good chance I’ll be good for Adelaide.”

Australia’s second Test against the visiting Caribbean unit will commence on 8th December in Adelaide. Cummins will have to pass a fitness test to make it to the playing XI of that match. Pacer Scott Boland will replace him in the team in case he fails to do that. Steven Smith will be leading the side under such circumstances.

Australia need Pat Cummins to be fit for matches after 2nd Windies Test, too

Australia will face the touring South Africans for a three-match Test series before heading to India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after the conclusion of their on-going assignment against West Indies. These three series’ are critical for Australia’s prospects of qualifying for the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23.

They are currently placed at the top of the standings. Post that, they will have to prepare for the One Day International (ODI) World Cup in India in October 2023. Cummins has acknowledged the necessity to manage his workload amidst such a tiring international schedule. The fast bowler also pulled out of the 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) citing the same reason.

“I don’t really want to turn a one-week injury into a three- or four-week injury and you potentially miss the summer. So we’ll weigh all that up. As I said, I felt pretty comfortable out there. Give it a few days. It already feels pretty good,” Cummins explained.

He further quipped, “The physio might be less optimistic, but I think I’ll be fine. I’m sure I’ll have running and a bit of bowling to make sure I’m right.”

Australia won the first Test vs West Indies by 164 runs, overcoming some stern Windies resistance to win on the fifth day. Top-order batsman Marnus Labuschagne was adjudged as the ‘Player of the Match’ for his 204 runs in the first innings and an unbeaten knock of 104 runs in the second one.

KL Rahul unsure why Rishabh Pant was released from ODI squad

Cricket News: KL Rahul unsure why Rishabh Pant was released from ODI squad | KL Rahul speaks after BAN vs IND 1st ODI

Indian vice-captain KL Rahul has revealed that he is unaware of why wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant was released from the One Day International (ODI) squad for the series vs Bangladesh as the former donned the gloves in the first match in Mirpur on Sunday.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Rahul explained that batting in the middle-order and keeping the wickets are roles that he has always been asked to be prepared for in the 50-over format. The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain, who top-scored with 73 off 70 in an otherwise disappointing loss for India, pointed that he had carried out these responsibilities in 2020 as well.

“Actually, we haven’t played a lot of ODIs in the last 6-7 months, but if you look at since 2020 or 21, I have kept wickets in the one-day format and I have batted at number four and five in the middle order,” Rahul said as he addressed the media after Bangladesh won the opening ODI by putting up a partnership of over 50 runs for the last wicket.

He added, “It’s a role that the team has asked me to do before, and when it comes to Rishabh, I’m not really aware to be honest. I just found out today in the dressing room that he has been released. I don’t know what the reasons are; the medical team will be in a better position to answer that question.”

Rahul has in fact batted at number five in 11 innings, i.e. 25 per cent of his total number of times that he has batted in ODI cricket. He averages a fantastic 58.44 with a strike rate of 112.39 in the position with five half-centuries and a ton to his name. In fact, his highest score in ODIs, i.e. 112, came whilst batting at number five against New Zealand at Bay Oval in February 2020. The team management certainly found it appropriate to try him out in this role in the absence of Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant.

Regarding Pant, Rahul disclosed that there was an air of uncertainty over his release form the squad and refrained from divulging further details regarding the same.

“This is a role that the team has always has asked me to be ready for in white-ball cricket. I’ve done it before, and whenever the team wants me to play this role, I will play this role,” the 30-year-old quipped. He added, “I didn’t seem him [Pant] in the dressing room. We asked what happened and he has been released, but we had to focus on the game, so we did not ask too many questions.”

Rahul is likely to play at number five for the remainder of the series as well. The second and third ODIs of the series will be played in Mirpur and Chattogram on Wednesday and Saturday respectively.
