India possible playing 11 for 2nd T20 against England

Cricket News: India possible playing 11 for 2nd T20 against England | India possible XI for 2nd T20 vs ENG: Kohli and co. back

India capped off a resounding 50-run victory against England in the opening T20I of the three-match series between the two countries on Thursday. The sides will now face off at Edgbaston on Saturday for the second game. Teams usually do not overhaul their XIs after such a convincing win. However, several key players will return to the Indian squad from the second T20I onwards. That is likely to trigger multiple changes and here we take a look at the possible playing XI of the Rohit Sharma-led side for Saturday’s game.

1. Rohit Sharma (c)

Rohit looked in sublime touch in the opening game as he struck five boundaries in his short knock of 24 runs. He will look to build upon that to seal the series for India in the coming match.

2. Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan could never really get going in the previous encounter. He will be eager to dominate the powerplay overs to give India a strong start to the innings. The southpaw will have to successfully see off Moeen Ali’s overs for the same though.

3. Virat Kohli

It might be harsh to drop Deepak Hooda given the form he is in but Virat Kohli’s rediscovery of his mojo is arguably more important for the Indian team. With an average and strike rate of 45 and 133.33 against England in T20Is, Kohli will look to regain some momentum in the next two games.

4. Rishabh Pant (wk)

Rishabh Pant will take over the wicket-keeping duties from Dinesh Karthik as he comes into this match on the back of an emphatic century in the same stadium. Pant averages 23.60 at a partly strike rate of 129.67 in T20Is in 2022. That is certainly a run of form that the Delhi Capitals’ skipper will be eyeing to overturn in this series.

5. Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya’s incredible all-round performance of 51 runs and four wickets propelled India to success in the first T20I. He will be tasked with holding this middle-order together and chipping in with some key overs as India heads into the World T20 later on this year.

6. Dinesh Karthik

Dinesh Karthik’s specialist finishing abilities have found admirers in the team management. His fantastic performances for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the recent IPL have helped him make a comeback into the Indian team. He will definitely be looking to prove his mettle against this top-quality English bowling unit in the first game.

7. Ravindra Jadeja

Much like Pant, Ravindra Jadeja was in sparkling batting form in the Edgbaston Test. Jadeja has scored 70 runs at a strike rate of 189.19 in three T20Is this year. That coupled with the great control that he offers with the ball will arguably offer India much finer balance to the playing XI from hereon.

8. Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar decided to turn back the clocks as he bowled over Jos Buttler with a sharp in-swinger in the first T20I. He conceded merely 10 runs in three overs in the last game and seems to be gradually coming back to his own as the T20 World Cup nears upon us.

9. Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah’s debut tryst with captaincy didn’t turn out as well as he would have wanted to. Neverthelesss, the fast-bowler bowled some scintillating spells in the Test.

Now, he will look to ensure that he seamlessly transitions into the T20 format and help India emerge victorious in this series. Bumrah has taken five wickets at a bowling average and strike rate of 12 and 11.60 respectively against England in T20Is.

10. Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal’s wicket-taking abilities in the middle-overs are worth its weight in gold in T20 cricket. Even in the first T20I, he dismissed the duo of Harry Brook and Moeen Ali in the 13th over and ensured that India broke their 61-run partnership.

England will be looking to take the game away with the presence of Liam Livingstone along with Brooks and Ali in the middle-order. Chahal’s performance in this phase will thus have a key impact on the eventual outcome of the game.

11. Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep Singh has definitely made a strong case to continue featuring in the XI with figures of 3.3-1-18-2 in his debut T20I. He adds the left-arm angle to the Indian bowling unit and has proven to be extremely efficient in the death overs particularly. It might seem a bit tough on Harshal Patel but India might look to explore Arshdeep’s abilities over him in this series at least.

Brendon McCullum does not like the term “BazBall”

Cricket News: Brendon McCullum does not like the term “BazBall” | Brendon McCullum chats about “BazBall” after England’s wins

England Test head coach Brendon McCullum has expressed bemusement at the term ‘BazBall’. The former Kiwi skipper has indicated that the phrase misses the finer aspects of his team’s newfound approach towards the red-ball game.

ESPNCricinfo’s UK editor Andrew Miller coined ‘BazBall’ prior to England’s Test series vs New Zealand to outline the positive approach that Ben Stokes’ men could adopt under McCullum’s stewardship.

BazBall is a silly term – Brendon McCullum

England have found a new lease of life ever since the 40-year-old took over coaching responsibilities last month. They have won four Tests on a trot and have chased down totals in excess of 270 runs in all of those games.

“I don’t have any idea what ‘BazBall’ is. It’s not just all crash and burn, if you look at the approach, and that’s why I don’t really like that silly term that people are throwing out there,” McCullum told Adam Gilchrist in the WA Breakfast show of SEN radio, as quoted by ESPN Cricinfo.

He added, “Because there’s actually quite a bit of thought that goes into how the guys manufacture their performances and when they put pressure on bowlers and which bowlers they put pressure on. There’s also times where they’ve absorbed pressure beautifully as well.”

McCullum also warded off suggestions that England’s ultra-attacking style has propelled a transformation in the landscape of Test cricket.

Instead, he explained that the side just plays a brand of cricket that gives them the best opportunity and the greatest sense of satisfaction simultaneously. Further, the head coach added that they have an obligation to entertain the audience as well.

“It’s been a challenging period for those who love the game of Test cricket because society has changed and people don’t necessarily have five days to sit down and watch cricket anymore, so we need to make sure that the product that we’ve got and the product that we’re taking to the people is worthy of their time and is able to captivate some of those imaginations,” McCullum opened up on his thought process.

He explained that such a style of cricket resonates really well with the players as well. Moreover, McCullum asserted that England have been able to block the ‘external noise’ created by the British media. He attributed that to be an instrumental reason behind their recent success.

“The media over here, it is a huge beast and sometimes the negative and the positive can seep into an environment. One thing we’ve tried to do is just be totally honest with one another and try and block some of that external stuff out and quieten down some of that noise. I think that’s helped,” the captain-turned-coach was quoted as saying in the aforementioned chat show.

England’s next red-ball series will be against the touring South Africans next month. The first game of the three-match contest will begin at Lord’s from 17th August onwards. However, Stokes’ team has an uphill task to climb up the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 rankings. Currently, they are placed in the seventh spot with 64 points from 16 matches.

Will India tour Zimbabwe in 2022?

Cricket News: Will India tour Zimbabwe in 2022? | India tour of Zimbabwe tentatively scheduled for August 2022

India will tour Zimbabwe for three ODIs in August, according to CricBuzz. The ODIs, part of the Super League, are tentatively scheduled for August 18, 20 and 22 at Harare Sports Club.

The series is important for Zimbabwe in more ways than one. Firstly, they desperately need points in their question for qualification to the 2023 World Cup. Secondly, India’s visit will provide an important financial boost for a board that has had its fair share of issues.

“Delighted to host India” – Zimbabwe Cricket

The Indian team is expected to arrive in the Zimbabwe capital on August 15, following the tour of West Indies. “We are absolutely delighted to host India and we look forward to a competitive and memorable series,” said a Zimbabwe Cricket official to CricBuzz.

Also, such a series can help inspire youngsters to take up the game, according to former Zimbabwe coach Lalchand Rajput. “It’s a big opportunity for the players to play against the Indian players and for the cricketing fraternity in Zimbabwe. It will create a lot of interest amongst the younger generation to take up this game. Overall, the series is very good for Zimbabwe cricket,” he said.

There will be no T20Is or Tests in this tour. Following the series, India will embark on the Asia Cup campaign, which starts less than a week after the final ODI in Harare. As a result, India may take a lesser-experienced squad to Zimbabwe.

For the home side, they will embark on a crucial T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament at home in July, where two teams will qualify for this year’s World Cup in Australia. They will then host Bangladesh for three ODIs and as many T20Is before India’s visit.

ENG vs IND 2nd T20 Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report

ENG vs IND 2nd T20 Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report | IND vs ENG 2nd T20 Dream11 Prediction Today | England vs India 2nd T20I Key Players | Edgbaston Pitch Report

In a T20 World Cup year, India made a significant statement against a strong England side in the first T20I. The match represented a shift in focus for the men in blue, with an emphasis on attacking batting right throughout the innings.

And, of course, having the record-breaking Hardik Pandya in that sort of all-round form is quite handy.

Now, the series moves to Edgbaston, the venue of England’s highest ever run chase in Tests just four days ago. Whether India continue on their merry way in this game will be interesting to see as Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant return to the lineup. Also, in a boost, Jasprit Bumrah is back in the bowling attack, and his partnership with the in-form Bhuvneshwar Kumar makes for a terrific battle against England’s batting.

Speaking of England’s batting, it was a disappointing first outing as full-time captain for Jos Buttler. He was out first ball and his team lost the match, but a player of that class is always capable of bouncing back quickly. Also, England’s bowlers will be after an improved showing after leaking too many in the opening T20I.

ENG vs IND 2nd T20 Possible Playing 11

England could pick both David Willey and Richard Gleeson for this match.

England: 1. Jason Roy, 2. Jos Buttler (c & wk), 3. Dawid Malan, 4. Moeen Ali, 5. Liam Livingstone, 6. Harry Brook, 7. Sam Curran, 8. Chris Jordan, 9. David Willey, 10. Richard Gleeson, 11. Matt Parkinson

Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah return to the India T20I setup. As a result, India have a decision to make around the number four slot with Deepak Hooda in some excellent form.

India: 1. Rohit Sharma (c), 2. Ishan Kishan, 3. Virat Kohli, 4. Suryakumar Yadav/Deepak Hooda/Dinesh Karthik, 5. Rishabh Pant (wk), 6. Hardik Pandya, 7. Ravindra Jadeja, 8. Harshal Patel/Arshdeep Singh, 9. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 10. Yuzvendra Chahal, 11. Jasprit Bumrah

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

England:

  • Can Jos Buttler bounce back right away? In 13 T20 knocks at Edgbaston, Buttler has struck 302 runs at an average of 30.20 and outstanding strike rate of 165.03.
  • Overall against India, Buttler has struck 373 runs at an average of 31.08 and strike rate of 141.28.
  • Liam Livingstone was also out for a duck in the first T20I. He too has the ability to bounce back, but he doesn’t have a great record in T20s at Edgbaston: 11 inns, 171 runs, avg. 19.00, SR 127.61.
  • Moeen Ali was arguably England’s best performer in the first T20I. He dismissed both India openers and looked in fine touch for his 20-ball 36. England will be well-served batting him in the top four.
  • Moeen has a fine record at Edgbaston: 17 inns, 582 runs, avg. 38.80, SR 167.24. This includes a century.
  • Sam Curran missed out with bat and ball (4 and 0/18) in the first T20I. However, he came into this series in excellent form, with a century in FC cricket and then a half-century in the Vitality Blast for Surrey.
  • Chris Jordan has the most wickets for England against India in T20Is (12). His 2/23 in the first T20I was a big improvement on his career economy rate of 9.18 vs India.
  • David Willey has taken 20 wickets in 14 innings in T20s at Edgbaston at an average of 17.45 and strike rate of 14.80.

India:

  • Hardik Pandya set a new record in the first T20I. He struck a brilliant 33-ball 51 and took 4/33. He bowled with excellent pace. Now, Hardik has an impressive 10 wickets in four matches in T20Is in England.
  • Rohit Sharma looked in brilliant touch in the first T20I (24 off 13 balls) before he was dismissed against the run of play. The India skipper has a good record against England in T20Is: 11 inns, 341 runs, avg. 37.88, SR 145.10.
  • Virat Kohli is back. Will the T20 format enable him to break free? He has the most runs in ENG-IND T20Is with 577 runs at an average of 44.38 and strike rate of 136.72.
  • Kohli scored 73* (49), 77* (46), and 80* (52) in three of his past four knocks against England.
  • The anticipation ahead of the next Bhuvneshwar Kumar vs Jos Buttler battle is huge. Kumar has now dismissed Buttler four times in 30 balls in T20 Internationals after bowling him with a terrific inswinger in the opening T20I.
  • Yuzvendra Chahal has the most wickets in ENG-IND T20Is (14) at an average of 23.42 and strike rate of 17.1.
  • This will be Jasprit Bumrah’s first T20I vs England since 2017. He took five wickets in three matches in that series at an economy rate of just 6.20.

Other Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 20, England 9, India 11.
  • India beat England 2-1 in England in 2018. A win here would mean another series victory on English soil.
  • Jason Roy had a shocker in the first T20I (4 off 17 balls). He will be aiming to bounce back on a ground where he has a similar record to Jos Buttler: 8 inns, 238 runs, avg. 29.75, SR 156.58.
  • India have taken at least two powerplay wickets in eight of their last ten T20Is. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has taken 14 in this period.
  • Virat Kohli vs Sam Curran in all T20s: 44 balls faced, 59 runs scored, two dismissals. He has similar numbers against Chris Jordan, too: 69 balls faced, 89 runs scored, two dismissals.
  • Richard Gleeson took 23 wickets in 14 matches at an economy of just 7.83 in the Blast.

Edgbaston Birmingham Pitch Report and Weather

The team batting first has won five of the eight matches on this ground in the T20 Vitality Blast. In the last two games, the team batting first smashed scored 228 and 186, and won easily. Given this is a day game, the captain who wins the toss may choose to chase.

The weather forecast is clear.

Hardik Pandya breaks record in the first T20I vs ENG

Cricket News: Hardik Pandya breaks record in the first T20I vs ENG | Hardik Pandya creates history in first IND vs ENG T20I

Hardik Pandya became the first ever Indian to score a half-century and take four wickets in a single T20I on Thursday.

The Gujarat Titans’ skipper was in some scintillating touch against England in the first T20I. His all-round performance enabled the Indian team to round off a convincing 50-run victory over Jos Buttler’s men.

Having come to bat at 89/3, Pandya stuck around for the following nine overs to add a further 91 runs to the team’s tally. He personally pitched in with 51 runs off 33 deliveries, which included six boundaries a solitary six.

Pandya rallied the middle-around around him as he stuck meaningful partnerships first with Suryakumar Yadav and then Axar Patel to help India dominate the middle-overs.

India scored 198 runs but needed to back it up with an equally proficient bowling performance to successfully defend the target.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar provided a fitting start by bowling over Buttler in the first over itself. However, it was Hardik’s heroics with the ball later on that broke the back of the English batting unit.

The quartet of Jason Roy (4), Dawid Malan (21), Liam Livingstone (4) and Sam Curran (4) were dismissed by Pandya as India ensured that England was unable to forge a decent partnership in the middle.

Hardik Pandya shares secret to his record-breaking performance

“I want success but a lot of time I spend on fitness and my skillsets. For me a lot of time goes into the preparation to get my body ready. Because of the long break that I had, I wanted to get into rhythm,” the 28-year-old was quoted as saying after the game in a report by News18.

He added, “(Bowling quickly) That was a conscious decision when I decided I want some time off from the game. It is about giving your 100% and when you don’t do that, there is no point playing. So, I needed that break and now I am happy to be in this place right now.”

Pandya also opened up on having clarity in life and heaped praise on his family for being a strong support system that have propelled him to success.

“My mindset doesn’t take me too high, nor low. I have learned to live neutral in life. Today was a good day, tomorrow can be bad but life moves on, so keep laughing and do your hard work,” the all-rounder provided a peek into his prevalent thought process.

Pandya had taken a prolonged break from cricket after a disappointing performance in the World T20 last year. However, he scored 487 runs and took eight wickets as he led Gujarat Titans to the IPL trophy in their maiden season in the tournament. Since then, the all-rounder has been in a purple patch and even led India for the first time in the recent T20I series in Ireland.

India will next face England at Edgbaston for the second T20I of the series on Saturday.

Will Zimbabwe qualify for the 2022 T20 World Cup? Blessing Muzarabani is confident

Cricket News: Will Zimbabwe qualify for the 2022 T20 World Cup? Blessing Muzarabani is confident | Zimbabwe to host T20 World Cup Qualifiers

Blessing Muzarabani has asserted that Zimbabwe is in a good place to qualify for the T20 World Cup that will take place in Australia later on this year. The team will be battling against seven other nations to grab one of the top two spots in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier B.

Zimbabwe could not make it to ODI World Cup 2019 in England after suffering heartbreak in the Qualifiers in 2018. Also, they didn’t compete in the 2021 T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman last year. However, Muzarabani realises that they have come within touching distance of the global summit this time around and is eager to ensure that Zimbabwe rubs shoulders against the best in the business Down Under.

“It has been really tough for us. I’m happy with the team right now because the guys are really working hard in the nets and hopefully, we will execute our plan. I’m happy that we are getting these opportunities,” the pacer was quoted in a report by NDTV.

He added, “I am just looking forward to going out there and just express ourselves. I’m sure we’re going to enjoy it and try and win every game.”

Zimbabwe will host and lock horns against the United States of America (USA), Singapore and Jersey in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier B that will be held from 11th July-17th July. Playoffs will follow the group stage matches and the eventual finalists will directly qualify for the T20 World Cup in Australia.

Muzarabani is banking on the home advantage that the Chevrons will avail to put up a promising performance in the forthcoming tournament.

“It’s going to be a good opportunity to go out there and play. We just need to win the game, that’s the first thing, and hopefully, we will play well. We are going to make the crowd happy and our families happy. That’s our aim. We want to make our families proud; we want to make the supporters proud,” the 25-year-old opened up on Zimbabwe’s prospects in the qualifiers.

Muzarabani also seems upbeat about the newfound youthful exuberance and talent in the camp. He indicated that the coming competition gives them a chance to embark into a new era. The pacer also pointed at the duo of Wesley Madherve and Tadiwanashe Marunmani as players with potential to bring about good times for the Zimbabwean cricket team.

“The future is looking bright but right now this is all about this tournament,” Muzarabani signed off.

WI vs BAN 3rd T20 Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report | WI vs BAN 3rd T20 Dream11 Prediction Today | West Indies vs Bangladesh 3rd T20I Key Players | Guyana Pitch Report

Another day, another defeat for Bangladesh in T20 cricket. Courtesy of some remarkable hitting by Rovman Powell, West Indies took a 1-0 series lead on Sunday, and they will back themselves to produce another big performance here.

The extended break between the second and third T20I will end as the series moves to Guyana. For the sake of the series – as well as their T20 World Cup preparations – Bangladesh desperately need a response as they have now lost seven consecutive matches in international cricket. For the West Indies, it is an opportunity for this team to continue building momentum in a World Cup year.

However, the forecast for this match does not look too promising, but fingers crossed there can be a completed match.

WI vs BAN 3rd T20 Possible Playing 11

West Indies could stick with the same team that won in Dominica.

West Indies: 1. Kyle Mayers, 2. Brandon King, 3. Shamarh Brooks, 4. Nicholas Pooran (c & wk), 5. Rovman Powell, 6. Odean Smith, 7. Romario Shepherd, 8. Romario Shepherd, 9. Obed McCoy, 10. Akeal Hosein, 11. Hayden Walsh Jnr

Bangladesh have Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Nasum Ahmed waiting in the wings.

  • Nicholas Pooran has an excellent record in T20s on this ground: 11 inns, 342 runs, avg. 57.00, SR 175.38.
  • Brandon King will be looking to build on his 57 from the first T20I. He has a century on this ground in T20s, with a total of 223 runs in eight innings at an average of 37.17 and strike rate of 154.86.

  • Bangladesh also need Litton Das to deliver after scores of just 9 and 5 in this series so far. He has scored 253 runs in nine T20Is vs West Indies at an average of 28.11 and strike rate of 138.25.
  • Shoriful Islam bowled nicely in the second T20I before Powell got a hold of him. Shoriful has taken at least one wicket in 16 of his 20 T20I innings to date.
  • Mustafizur Rahman looked below his best in the second T20I (0/37). However, he always remains a threat in white-ball cricket. He has 15 wickets in eight T20I outings vs WI.

Other Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 15, West Indies, 8, Bangladesh 5, N/R 2.
  • Bangladesh have lost their past seven internationals.

Providence Stadium Guyana Pitch Report and Weather

Rain is likely to play spoilsport in this match. Inclement weather is forecast throughout the afternoon.

The last two T20Is, back in August 2021, were also washed out. Before that, Pakistan defended 157 against West Indies on a slowish pitch.

ENG vs IND 1st T20 Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report

ENG vs IND 1st T20 Dream11 Prediction & Fan2Play Possible 11 Pitch Report | ENG vs IND 1st T20 Key Players | England vs India 1st T20I Key Players | Southampton Pitch Report

Such is the international calendar these days that merely two days after England’s remarkable, record-breaking pursuit of 378 at Edgbaston, attention turns to the T20I series against India.

And it is a new era that awaits. Jos Buttler officially takes over from Eoin Morgan, who recently announced his retirement from international cricket. Buttler takes the helm after Morgan helped build an incredible white-ball machine that stems back to 2015, with England now focused on adding the 2022 T20 World Cup to their 2019 ODI World Cup triumph.

Indeed, England’s all guns blazing approach will be a great test for India. Also, the Indians have a number of hard-hitters in their lineup, and a challenge awaits them in beating England in a power game away from home. It serves as brilliant preparation for this year’s World Cup, and if they can get victories on the board, it will only increase confidence further.

ENG vs IND 1st T20 Possible Playing 11

Harry Brook could get the nod for the middle order slot left by Eoin Morgan. Also, David Willey was released to play in the T20 Blast quarter-finals for Yorkshire on Wednesday.

England: 1. Jason Roy, 2. Jos Buttler (c & wk), 3. Dawid Malan, 4. Moeen Ali, 5. Liam Livingstone, 6. Harry Brook, 7. Sam Curran, 8. Chris Jordan, 9. Tymal Mills, 10. Reece Topley/Richard Gleeson, 11. Matt Parkinson

India could look to play Umran Malik or Arshdeep Singh. However, there is also the option of Avesh Khan. Plus, Rohit Sharma is available after recovering from COVID-19. More details on India’s possible playing XI here.

India: 1. Rohit Sharma (c), 2. Ishan Kishan (wk), 3. Deepak Hooda, 4. Suryakumar Yadav, 5. Hardik Pandya, 6. Dinesh Karthik, 7. Axar Patel, 8. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 9. Harshal Patel, 10. Avesh Khan/Umran Malik/Arshdeep Singh, 11. Yuzvendra Chahal

Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

England:

  • Jos Buttler is in imperious form. Soon after scoring the equal-most centuries in a single IPL season, Buttler then went on a rampage in Netherlands as England posted the highest ever ODI score.
  • Buttler has the most runs for England against India in T20Is (373) at an average of 33.90 and strike rate of 141.82. Also, the new England captain has a great record in T20s at Southampton: 8 inns, 297 runs, avg. 59.40, SR 152.31.
  • Moeen Ali is a different player when batting in the top four in T20s. Expect batting to be his main role as India have a number of right-handers in their batting lineup.
  • Liam Livingstone is always one to watch. He smashed 437 runs in IPL 2022 at a strike rate of 182.08. Also, he scored one of England’s fastest ODI fifties against Netherlands recently.
  • Watch out for Sam Curran, who is in terrific batting form. He scored 126 for Surrey in the County Championship in late June, followed by 50 (30) in the Vitality Blast. He will also be key with the ball.
  • Chris Jordan will be aiming to improve his numbers vs India (11 inns, 10 wickets, avg. 40.40, econ. 9.50). He recently took 17 wickets in 13 matches in the Blast (econ. 8.00), and is always a factor in the hotspot fielding positions.
  • Reece Topley has taken 10 wickets in six innings on this ground, but the economy rate of 9.05 is one to bring down. England also have the option of Richard Gleeson, who is a yorker specialist. He took 23 wickets from 14 games at an economy of 7.83 in the T20 Blast.

India:

  • Rohit Sharma is back. He has scored 317 runs in 10 innings against England at an average of 39.62 and strike rate of 143.43. This includes a century in England.
  • Deepak Hooda is coming off a magnificent tour of Ireland, where he smashed 151 runs in two matches. This included a brilliant 104* in the second T20I.
  • A firing Hardik Pandya with bat and ball gives India a very different dimension. He has good all-round numbers against England, with 153 runs (avg. 25.50, SR 147.11) and nine wickets (avg. 27.33, SR 22) in 11 T20Is against them. This includes six scalps in three T20Is in England.
  • England concede 11.73 runs per over at the death since the start of the 2021 World Cup. So, Hardik and Dinesh Karthik will be key as finishers.
  • Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be crucial to India’s hopes. He has dismissed Jos Buttler thrice in 29 balls in T20 Internationals, whilst conceding just 28. Also, Bhuvi has conceded just 61 off 61 balls against Jason Roy in all T20s, with two dismissals.
  • Also, Bhuvneshwar has never bowled to Moeen in T20s, but has dismissed the left-hander four times in 18 balls in ODIs.
  • Yuzvendra Chahal has the most wickets in ENG-IND T20Is (12) at an average of 24.66 and economy rate of 8.22. However, Chahal wasn’t prolific in the 2018 series in England, where he took one wicket in three T20Is at an economy rate of 7.66.

Other Stats and Facts

  • Head-to-head: Matches 19, England 9, India 10.
  • England lead India 4-2 in T20Is in England. However, India won the 2018 series 2-1.
  • Dawid Malan has solid experience on this ground in T20s: 15 inns, 379 runs, avg. 31.58, SR 129.35.
  • Suryakumar Yadav in T20s in 2022: 13 inns, 425 runs, avg. 38.64, SR 157.99.
  • Jason Roy vs India: 12 inns, 325 runs, avg. 27.08, SR 143.17, one 50+ score.
  • India have taken at least two powerplay wickets in seven of their last nine T20Is. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has taken 13 in this period.

The Rose Bowl Southampton Pitch Report and Weather

Southampton has favoured sides batting first in the 2022 Vitality Blast. The average first innings score is 165, with the team batting first winning five of the seven matches. This stat is an interesting one as India have won just 54% of matches where they batted first in the last three years, compared 95% when chasing.

The larger boundaries have a say in the stats at the Rose Bowl, but both these teams are capable of sending the ball miles. A clear and pleasant evening is forecast.

ENG vs IND 1st T20 Match Prediction: Who will win

Two excellent teams should make for a great contest. However, England should get the win at home.

India possible playing 11 for 1st T20 against England

Cricket News: India possible playing 11 for 1st T20 against England | ENG vs IND What is India’s probable playing XI for 1st T20 vs England

India and England will face-off for the first game of their upcoming T20I series at Hampshire on Thursday. Rohit Sharma will return from his Covid-induced break to lead the Indian side as the visitors will look to script a comeback after a crushing defeat in the fifth Test on Tuesday.

The two sides have met each in 19 T20Is so far with India winning 10 of them and England emerging victorious in the rest of the games. Both countries last met for a T20I series back in February 2021 and India had claimed that series by a margin of 3-2.

India predicted playing 11 for 1st T20 vs England

Here is the predicted Indian playing XI for the first T20I:

1. Rohit Sharma (C)

Rohit Sharma will be eyeing to make a strong return to the playing XI. He is certainly well-set to make a strong statement with an average and strike rate of 39.63 and 143.44 against England in T20Is. Rohit’s presence will arguably add more solidity, flair and consistency to the top-order in this series.

2. Ishan Kishan (WK)

Ishan Kishan seems to be the side’s designated back-up opener and he will take this slot in the absence of KL Rahul on Thursday. The southpaw’s maiden T20I half-century came against England last year and he will be expected to go all guns blazing with the bat right from the onset.

3. Deepak Hooda

Deepak Hooda was in scintillating form in the recent series vs Ireland where he struck 151 runs in two games. It included a sensational knock of 104* in the second T20I and Hooda is likely to be awarded with continuity at the top of the order for his heroics.

4. Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav will hold the middle-order together and must be eager to reiterate his credentials. His recent injury layoff has put some other contenders ahead of him for the coveted number four slot in the playing XI. Yadav averages 44.50 at a strike rate of 188.42 in three T20Is vs England and will hold the key to India’s chances in this series.

5. Hardik Pandya

India possible playing 11 for 1st T20 against England: India needs all-round brilliance from Hardik Pandya

Hardik led India in Ireland recently after a successful first season as captain of the Gujarat Titans. He provides India with crucial balance with bat and ball.

6. Dinesh Karthik

Dinesh Karthik’s specialist finishing abilities seem to be aptly recognised and rewarded by the current team management. This series gives Karthik a chance to showcase his unique skillsets in front of a top-notch T20 bowling unit.

7. Axar Patel

Axar Patel’s batting needs to come into fore more prominently for him to seriously challenge for the number seven slot. Ravindra Jadeja’s return to form in the Edgbaston Test suggests that he remains to be the top contender for the position otherwise. Axar will continue to feature in the XI for this game though.

8. Bhuvneshwar Kumar

India possible playing 11 for 1st T20 vs England: Bhuvneshwar will be crucial.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has shown signs of regaining his old mojo in recent T20Is. With his trademark guile and experience, Bhuvneshwar will be the ideal candidate to partner Jasprit Bumrah in the World T20 later on this year.

He has taken five wickets at a strike rate of 30.80 against England in seven T20Is. The pacer will be looking to overhaul this arguably underwhelming record in the next three games.

9. Harshal Patel

Harshal Patel had a horrid game in the second T20I vs Ireland. However, the series vs England presents to him an excellent opportunity to prove his T20 bowling credentials in foreign conditions. With 19 wickets in 14 games, Harshal seems to be doing quite well since debuting for India in T20Is last November.

10. Avesh Khan

Avesh’s ability to hit the deck hard is appreciated in the current setup. In Bumrah’s presence, he will possibly battle with Harshal for the third seamer’s lot. However, Thursday’s game is another opportunity for the Lucknow Super Giants pacer to showcase his skills against a prominent opposition in hostile conditions.

11. Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal has taken 12 wickets at an economy rate of 8.22 in nine T20Is against England. His skillsets will definitely trouble some English batsmen and will be critical to India’s chances in the upcoming series after he recently took the most wickets by a spinner in a single IPL season.
