IPL 2019: RCB vs MI Preview Dream11 Prediction

IPL 2019: RCB vs MI Preview Dream11. Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Mumbai Indians Preview Dream11 Prediction

It’s time for two famous T20 franchises in world cricket.

Match seven sees two teams who lost their first matches, after putting in performances that have underlined how they are perceived in IPL cricket.

Royal Challengers Bangalore faced very difficult conditions in Chennai. However, their inability to read the conditions and adjust accordingly was disappointing. On a pitch where 110 would have been a winning score, RCB aimed for 180. There was only to be one result. Fans will be hoping that this season is different to seasons previous, and that they will bounce back in their first home game of IPL 2019. Can they put in an all-round performance?

Mumbai Indians are in a pretty standard position. They have lost their first game yet again, suffering Pant-emodium as they conceded a mammoth 219 in Delhi. They too need to bounce back, as falling behind might be too difficult to come back from in a competitive tournament. Indeed, that is what proved to be the case last season. With Jasprit Bumrah set to play, will MI get their season off and running?

Key to a Royal Challengers Bangalore win

Home sweet home. RCB return to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, where the pitch has traditionally been a belter for batting. Virat Kohli’s men have the chance to put their 70 all-out calamity behind them, with significant onus on the batsmen to put pressure on an MI side that was very expensive in Delhi. Again, Kohli and AB de Villiers will be key, along with Shimron Hetmyer, who disappointed in a show of nerves on IPL debut. Can the likes of Parthiv Patel, Shivam Dube and Colin de Grandhomme also contribute to a big total?

Also, can the bowlers deliver an exhibition as they did vs MI at home last season? They defended 167, lifting hopes of a strong run to the finals. A playoffs appearance didn’t materialise, but the template from that night is set. Umesh Yadav, IPL 2018’s top powerplay wicket taker, will be crucial against Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock. With Tim Southee a good chance of returning too, RCB can hope for a good start with the ball, where then the likes of Yuzvendra Chahal can build on against the MI middle order. Are RCB better served playing Washington Sundar, or will Moeen Ali overcome his recent poor form effectively enough?

Key to a Mumbai Indians win

It was a tough night in Delhi for MI. Each of their six bowlers went for at least 10 an over, which was not the ideal start to a campaign. The task doesn’t get much easier with RCB capable of scoring big at home, so the onus is on the bowlers to bounce back. Jasprit Bumrah will be key to this, and he needs the likes of Mitchell McClenaghan and Hardik Pandya to support him well. Will Krunal Pandya again be the only specialist spinner? If so, can he deliver control? Will Lasith Malinga return to help MI get the better of Kohli and de Villiers at a ground where they have shared plenty of success?

Also, players in the MI side again need to justify their inclusion. Yuvraj Singh over Ishan Kishan mystified some fans, and he has to build on his half century. However, before that, MI need Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock to overcome Yadav in the powerplay, and push RCB on the back foot on a ground where runs can be difficult to control. It is then that the likes of Kieron Pollard and Ben Cutting can be used to their full potential, delivering a strong finish against a side that often struggles bowling at the death.

Possible Playing 11

RCB were a spinner short in Chennai, which means they could stick with the same team in Bangalore. One change they could look at is Tim Southee for Moeen Ali, who has been poor of late.

RCB: 1. Parthiv Patel (wk), 2. Virat Kohli (c), 3. AB de Villiers, 4. Shimron Hetmyer, 5. Shivam Dube, 6. Colin de Grandhomme, 7. Moeen Ali/Tim Southee, 8. Navdeep Saini, 9. Yuzvendra Chahal, 10. Umesh Yadav, 11. Mohammad Siraj

MI made some big calls to leave Ishan Kishan and Mayank Markande out of their side vs DC. It remains to be seen if one loss has them changing things. Lasith Malinga has been granted by SLC to join the MI squad, and could line up.

MI: 1. Rohit Sharma (c), 2. Quinton de Kock (wk), 3. Suryakumar Yadav, 4. Yuvraj Singh, 5. Kieron Pollard, 6. Hardik Pandya, 7. Krunal Pandya, 8. Ben Cutting, 9. Mitchell McGlenaghan/Lasith Malinga, 10. Raskih Salam, 11. Jasprit Bumrah

Key stats and points:

  • Parthiv Patel vs Quinton de Kock. de Kock has been in superb form for South Africa, and returns to the Chinnaswamy where he had mixed results last season. Patel was RCB’s highest scorer last match.
  • Rohit Sharma scored 94 (52) vs RCB last season. However, he made 0 (1) in his last visit to Bangalore in IPL. He has a poor record at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium (avg. 18.60 in 11), so pick with caution.
  • Virat Kohli vs MI in IPL 2018: 92* (62) and 32 (26).
  • AB de Villiers has a pretty strong record vs MI: 511 runs in 19 innings at 36.50 (SR 138.48).
  • Yuvraj Singh strikes at 162 vs RCB, but was out for 4 at the Chinnaswamy in IPL 2018, as part of his poor start to the tournament.
  • Key battle: Suryakumar Yadav vs Umesh Yadav: Umesh Yadav dismissed Suryakumar twice in IPL 2018, for a combined nine runs.
  • Kieron Pollard averages more against RCB (39.08) than any other team he has played. His SR of 161.72 is second best of any team he has played.
  • Hardik Pandya took 3/28 and scored 50 at Bangalore in IPL 2018.
  • Jasprit Bumrah took a combined 3/50 in eight overs vs RCB in IPL 2018. He is my pick to do well in IPL 2019.
  • Tim Southee was man of the match in RCB’s last match vs RCB (2/25).
  • Yuzvendra Chahal took no wickets vs MI last season but remains one of RCB’s best.

  • Head-to-Head: Matches 23 RCB 9 MI 14.

  • Before RCB’s victory over MI in IPL 2018, MI had won six in a row vs RCB.

Match Prediction

Wow, what a difficult match to predict.

RCB are a strong unit at home, and MI have to guard against losing more games early. However, despite my pick that MI will go very far, you get the feeling MI will continue to find their feet early. This is why I pick RCB to get a crucial early win.

IPL 2019: KKR vs KXIP Preview Dream11 Prediction

IPL 2019: KKR vs KXIP Preview Dream11. Kolkata Knight Riders vs Kings XI Punjab Preview Dream11 Prediction

Preview co-written by @jaishreeram1898

Hey, a cricket game is about to begin. It has been a controversial last 24-48 hours in the KXIP world, as they now travel to Kolkata to play a confident KKR side. KKR won their first game due to Andre Russell’s power, and KXIP because of Ashwin’s mind…

Indeed, Kolkata Knight Riders have underlined their top four credentials. You felt they were always playing catch up in their opener against a strong SRH side, but they pulled off an incredible victory thanks to that man – Andre Russell. Even though they would like to improve in certain areas, KKR never gave up in front of their home fans, and will play in front of them once again in the quest for two wins to kick off IPL 2019.

However, all the talk has been about Ravichandran Ashwin’s mankad to dismiss Jos Buttler. Opinions been as loud as they have been divided, which is a challenge for Ashwin and Kings XI Punjab to put to the side. They are looking pretty good, but their slow start against RR is something to avoid. This is especially so with such a quick turnaround. So, the onus is on their big names to deliver to move on from the mankad episode and up the ladder. Can they get over the line again and make it two from two?

Key to a Kolkata Knight Riders win

KKR’s bowlers actually did well to keep SRH to 181 on Sunday. While that is still a big total, it is significantly less than the 200+ SRH were on track to get with David Warner in fine touch. However, they did look helpless vs Warner, so they have to develop and execute good plans against the likes of Chris Gayle and KL Rahul. Tonight, the onus is on Sunil Narine, who could prove to be a key man to tame the lion that is Chris Gayle. He, Kuldeep Yadav and Piyush Chawla will be key in keeping the KXIP side quiet. Incidentally, KXIP also scored 180+ in their first match, so can KKR get the better of the openers?

Also, will the KKR batting fire? That they chased 180+ with Chris Lynn and Dinesh Karthik both failing is a positive sign. Nitish Rana was excellent, Robin Uthappa steady, Shubman Gill fluent and Andre Russell explosive and outstanding. As an X-Factor of the team, a platform is all that man needs, so the onus is on the likes of Chris Lynn and Robin Uthappa to set a good platform against a KXIP side that was on track to lose to RR before the controversy.

Photo credit: K.R. Deepak. IPL 2019: KKR vs KXIP Preview Dream11 – Will Dre Russ fire again?

Key to a Kings XI Punjab win

You get the feeling KXIP need one of KL Rahul or Chris Gayle to fire. It was Chris who delivered a strong Gayle storm in Rajasthan, leading his side to a strong total. Gayle will be important again, but KXIP need more from KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal to challenge KKR’s spinners. Former RCB man Sarafraz Khan backed him up beautifully, and he could prove to be a key man for KXIP in the middle order. With KKR sure to provide a test by spin, can the likes of KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal and possibly David Miller play the roles of Warner, Bairstow and Shankar for SRH?

Also, can the KXIP bowlers outbowl those of KKR? With Andrew Tye, last season’s top wicket taker, likely to be back, KXIP can hope for crucial middle and death overs wickets. With Mohammed Shami also capable of wickets, and KXIP’s three spinners bowling well last time out, Ravi Ashwin’s men need to ensure Andre Russell is left with plenty to do after getting the better of KKR’s top order. Can KXIP get the better of the likes of Chris Lynn, Nitish Rana and Dinesh Karthik?

Possible Playing 11

KKR could stick with the same team that overcame SRH.

My possible KKR XI: 1. Chris Lynn, 2. Sunil Narine, 3. Robin Uthappa, 4. Nitish Rana, 5. Shubman Gill, 6. Dinesh Karthik (c & wk), 7. Andre Russell, 8. Piyush Chawla, 9. Kuldeep Yadav, 10. Lockie Ferguson, 11. Prasidh Krishna

@jaishreeram1898’s XI: No change from previous match.

There could be a couple of changes for KXIP. David Miller and Andrew Tye are on deck, which could mean Nicholas Pooran and Sam Curran miss out.

My possible KXIP XI: 1. Chris Gayle, 2. KL Rahul (wk), 3. Mayank Agarwal, 4. Sarfaraz Khan, 5. Nicholas Pooran (wk)/David Miller, 6. Mandeep Singh, 7. Ravichandran Ashwin (c), 8. Sam Curran/Andrew Tye, 9. Mohammed Shami, 10. Mujeeb Ur Rahman, 11. Ankit Rajpoot

Key stats and points:

  • KL Rahul made a quiet start to IPL 2019. However, he will open compared to the middle order Dinesh Karthik.
  • Sunil Narine also enjoys KXIP. He scored 75 (36) last season, when KKR pummeled 245/6 at Indore. He also has his best figures (5/16) vs KXIP and 26 wickets in 15 matches against them.
  • R Ashwin, amid the controversy, bowled nicely vs RR. He is certainly worth looking at in a three-man all-rounder formation with Narine and Andre Russell (who is coming off an amazing 49 off 19 balls).
  • Andrew Tye took six wickets in two games vs KKR last season. He was IPL 2018’s top wicket taker.
  • Mujeeb ur Rahman against KKR’s top order will be a fascinating battle. Will KKR leave Narine for later?
  • Kuldeep Yadav, Sunil Narine and Piyush Chawla took just one wicket between them vs SRH on Sunday. However, picking two of the three is a good option, possibly along with two KKR seamers.

Stats and Facts

  • If KKR bowl first, KXIP could be on the ropes. KKR have a 25-7 win-loss record when chasing at Eden Gardens.
  • Sunil Narine needs one wicket to reach 50 IPL wickets at Eden Gardens.
  • Both sides won a game each against each other in IPL 2018.

Match Prediction

KXIP beat KKR easily at Eden Gardens in IPL 2018. Staying consistent was a bit of a problem for KKR last season.

However, with their settled lineup and good home record, both myself and
@jaishreeram1898 will back KKR to score an important win to go 2-0 in IPL 2019.

Pakistan vs Australia 3rd ODI Preview Dream11

Pakistan vs Australia 3rd ODI Preview Dream11. PAK vs AUS 3rd ODI Preview Dream11 Prediction

So, apparently only one team has been trying to win. In that time, we basically watched the same ODI twice, as Australia continued their surge ahead of the World Cup.

Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik has come out and said this series isn’t about winning. Rather, it’s about giving the youngsters a go. That sort of comment is ridiculous – even more so after losing two games convincingly. The stand-in captain needs instill a winning mentality no matter who lines up for Pakistan. This is especially as the men in green have won just three out of 18 ODIs vs top eight opposition since 2018. Can they step up keep the series alive in Abu Dhabi?

No credit should be taken away from Australia. They have been mighty efficient in both ODIs, losing a total of just four wickets en-route to an easy 2-0 series lead. The return to form of Aaron Finch is most pleasing, and even though poor Jhye Richardson suffered a nasty injury last match, Australia still have the bench quality even without Starc and Hazlewood. Will they continue to build on their fine series win vs India?

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is CricBlog-ad-2-1024x427.png

Key to a Pakistan win

Pakistan have looked toothless with the ball. The lack of penetration with the ball is concerning, even with their main players rested. Usman Khan Shinwari is a proven wicket taker in white-ball cricket, and you feel he has to play in this one if Pakistan are to make inroads. Breaking through the strong Finch-Khawaja stand could lift the side, which brings the likes of Yasir Shah into the game more against new batsmen.

Also, can Pakistan go a little better than 280-odd? They were in quite some trouble in the second ODI, where Mohammad Rizwan and Shoaib Malik put on a fine stand to get Pakistan to respectability. However, significant onus is on the top order, who tried to make a quicker start last time out. What resulted was a series of soft dismissals, that then allowed Aaron Finch of all people to bowl ten overs for 41. Can Imam-ul-Haq make a mark? What about the frustrating Umar Akmal? These two, as part of a big top six effort also including Haris Sohail, need to propel Pakistan to 300.

Key to an Australia win

It remains to be seen whether Australia bring Pat Cummins in place of the injured Jhye Richardson. Richardson bounced back superbly after an expensive first outing, before a bad shoulder injury has ended his series. Whether it is Cummins or Behrendhorff, Australia will be out for more early wickets to quelm Pakistan’s progress. With Adam Zampa and Nathan Lyon honest, Australia can then attempt to put the squeeze on Pakistan in the middle overs. However, can Australia be better at the death?

Also, how well are Aaron Finch and Usman Khawaja going? David Warner’s superb start to IPL 2019 has created more headaches for selectors. Australia’s opening stands across the India and Pakistan campaigns now read: 0, 83, 193, 3, 76, 63 and 209. More of the same will be of interest for these two openers, who will be looking to ramp up the pressure on both the selectors and Pakistan’s bowlers. With Shaun Marsh and the middle order in good touch, Australia can hope for another smooth batting performance.

Faheem Ashraf has been rested for the final three ODIs. Expect Usman Khan Shinwari to come in for Mohammad Abbas, who has largely struggled for threat in this series.

Pakistan: 1. Imam-ul-Haq, 2. Shan Masood, 3. Haris Sohail, 4. Umar Akmal, 5. Mohammad Rizwan (wk), 6. Shoaib Malik (c), 7. Imad Wasim, 8. Yasir Shah, 9. Mohammad Amir/Junaid Khan, 10. Mohammad Hasnain, 11. Usman Khan Shinwari

Stats and Facts

  • Pakistan have won just three of 18 ODIs vs top eight opposition since 2018.
  • Australia have won their last five ODIs. This is the first time they have achieved this since 2015.
  • With a win, Australia will achieve their fourth straight series victory across formats.
  • The last time Pakistan played Australia at Abu Dhabi, they were unable to get two off the last over to win.

Match Prediction

It has been one-way traffic so far in this series.

However, I expect the third ODI to be a more competitive one. Still, though, I will pick Australia to win as they look the stronger unit right now.

IPL 2019: DC vs CSK Preview Dream11 Prediction

DC vs CSK Preview Dream11. Delhi Capitals vs Chennai Super Kings Preview Dream11 Prediction

A shout out to @jaishreeram1898 who co-wrote this preview just after university class, during exams period. Kudos! Be sure to follow on Twitter.

So soon after their first games, both sides are back at it again. The fifth match sees exciting DC host experienced CSK, with both teams having started their campaigns with wins. DC play their first game at home two nights after a magnificent win, led by the brilliant Rishabh Pant.

Delhi Capitals fans can get excited. Last season’s bottom-placed team knocked off one of the favourites in an incredible match at the Wankhede. DC’s batsmen showed great form against MI, and they will need to be on guard again against a CSK side on a Delhi track that often supports spinners. Can they make two from two?

Chennai Super Kings brushed RCB side on a very difficult home pitch. That the chase of 71 was tough work against an incorrectly-manned RCB attack showcased just how difficult the pitch was. Conditions in Delhi often aid spin, but surely less than Saturday’s opener, which will give us a chance to see CSK’s batting line up gear up. Will it be they who make it two from two?

Key to a DC win

In their first game at Feroz Shah Kotla, DC will be hoping for a better start than they had at Mumbai. Both Prithvi Shaw and Shreyas Iyer were out before the fourth over was complete, which is something they need to avoid against an experienced side. A strong start from the top three paves the way for in-form Colin Ingram and Rishabh Pant to express themselves even further. Indeed, Pant was a delight to watch in the last game, and they will look to continue the same form against CSK.

Also, there shouldn’t be much of a change on the bowling front. DC chipped away at MI, taking regular wickets to leave MI helpless in a monstrous chase. Amit Mishra could be a preferred option to Rahul Tewatia (who did take four catches), but significant onus is on the seamers up front to cause damage. With CSK possessing a strong top order, the likes of Kagiso Rabada Ishant Sharma and Keemo Paul will be keen to build on their promising first up showings. Can Trent Boult also chime in with a more economical display?

DC vs CSK Preview Dream11. Delhi Capitals vs Chennai Super Kings Preview Dream11 Prediction Playing 11 Match Prediction Cricket Blog CricBlog
Image credit: Twitter. DC vs CSK Preview Dream11 – Rishabh Pant was incredible vs MI.

Key to a CSK win

CSK’s spinners ran riot on IPL 2019’s opening night. Harbhajan Singh started it, then Imran Tahir kept the momentum going, with Ravindra Jadeja chiming in. Eight wickets were shared among these three, who will be key again on a pitch that can aid spin. Shardul Thakur was surplus to requirements in Chennai, but could be a key man here, along with Deepak Chahar, in keeping a dangerous DC lineup quiet in the powerplay and death overs.

Also, the chase of 71 certainly wasn’t a walk in the park for CSK in Chennai. However, we all know CSK’s batting is a powerhouse, and they will come harder this time. Shane Watson, who scored a duck first up, remains a key man. After all, he had a superb PSL campaign, as well as IPL 2018 where he helped CSK lift the trophy. He and Ambati Rayudu will be crucial against DC’s seamers early, setting a platform for the likes of Suresh Raina, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni and Dwayne Bravo to build on.

Possible Playing 11

DC will be right to go in with the winning combination from the opening match. As mentioned, Amit Mishra is a potential option.

My possible DC XI: 1. Shikhar Dhawan, 2. Prithvi Shaw, 3. Shreyas Iyer (c), 4. Colin Ingram, 5. Rishabh Pant, 6. Keemo Paul, 7. Axar Patel, 8. Rahul Tewatia, 9. Kagiso Rabada, 10. Trent Boult, 11. Ishant Sharma

@jaishreeram1898’s possible DC XI: 1. Shikhar Dhawan, 2. Prithvi Shaw, 3. Shreyas Iyer (c), 4. Colin Ingram, 5. Rishabh Pant (wk), 6. Keemo Paul, 7. Axar Patel, 8. Kagiso Rabada, 9. Amit Mishra, 10. Trent Boult, 11. Ishant Sharma

For CSK, there will always be a temptation to bring in an extra seamer. However, the Delhi track, as evident in the recent India-Australia ODI, aids spin.

CSK: 1. Shane Watson, 2. Ambati Rayudu, 3. Suresh Raina, 4. Kedar Jadhav, 5. MS Dhoni (c & wk), 6. Dwayne Bravo, 7. Ravindra Jadeja, 8. Deepak Chahar, 9. Harbhajan Singh, 10. Shardul Thakur, 11. Imran Tahir

Key stats and points:

  • Rishabh Pant vs MS Dhoni. Who will get a longer chance to bat? With Rishabh Pant’s amazing 78* (27) vs MI (and 79 off 45 last year vs CSK), he is difficult to ignore. So too MS, who scored 51* (22) vs DC last year.
  • Shane Watson was man of the match with 78 (40) in CSK’s first meeting with DC in IPL 2018. However, how will he handle a possible turning track?
  • Shikhar Dhawan hit 92* (50) in his last outing vs DC. However, he struggled badly vs Trent Boult in the India ODIs earlier this year. Different conditions, different Dhawan?
  • Ambati Rayudu in IPL 2018: 602 runs at 43.00. He feels at home in IPL. Rayudu was second-top scorer (28) in very tough conditions in the opening match.
  • Suresh Raina vs DC in IPL 2018: 1 & 15. However, he is always worth considering, given his experience.
  • CSK’s spinners combined for eight wickets on Saturday. Will they dominate again at a ground known for assisting spin?
  • Trent Boult vs CSK in Delhi 2018: 2/20 (4).
  • Kagiso Rabada is coming off a fine 2/23 against a strong MI side.

  • Both sides won their first game, but in opposite fashion. DC scored the first 200+ total of IPL 2019. CSK blew RCB away for 70.
  • CSK’s spinners took eight of the nine wickets taken by bowlers vs RCB on Saturday.

Match Prediction

Another cracking match in prospect.

Indeed, it is the youth of DC vs experience of CSK. @jaishreeram1898 believes there can be an upset, and so do I. I have a sneaky feeling DC will get the job done!

IPL 2019: RR vs KXIP Preview Dream11 Prediction

IPL 2019: RR vs KXIP Preview Dream11. Rajasthan Royals vs Kings XI Punjab Preview Dream11 Prediction

After an action-packed Sunday, IPL 2019 moves to Jagpur. Ajinkya Rahane and Ravichandran Ashwin, two players currently surplus to India’s ODI requirements, are back in the spotlight as they look to lead their respective teams to strong campaigns.

Rajasthan Royals made the IPL 2018 playoffs over the perhaps more fancied MI and RCB. Led by Jos Buttler’s brilliance, RR proved more than capable of causing a headache or two, despite their inconsistency. Now, Steve Smith returns after his one year ban, and joins a side that contains plenty of talent. Can RR get the better of Ravi Ashwin’s men?

The opposite can be said of Kings XI Punjab. They were well on track for a playoffs appearance in IPL 2018, but lost six of their last seven to collapse and finish second-bottom. Plenty seems to rest on Chris Gayle and KL Rahul, and in a competitive league, it is so important that KXIP make a good start. Can they overcome RR’s fine home record?

Also read: 5 big predictions for IPL 2019

Key to a RR win

Jos Buttler’s five consecutive half centuries at the backend of IPL 2018 catapulted RR in playoffs contention. He is superb in the powerplay in IPL cricket (avg. of 92 with SR of 168.5), and Ajinkya Rahane can be considered the perfect foil to provide the Royals with a strong start. With KXIP possessing the likes of Mohammed Shami and Mujeeb ur Rahman, both of whom are good powerplay bowlers, how well RR negotiate the threat can be a huge factor to the result. With the returning Steve Smith to follow, as well as Sanju Sanson and Ben Stokes, RR can look to setup for a big death overs launch.

Also, in a crunch game vs RCB last season, it was RR’s spinners that did the damage. Shreyas Gopal is one to watch out for in IPL 2019, possessing an ability to both keep runs down and take wickets. However, how well will the seamers fare? Dhawal Kulkarni has a fine record vs key KXIP players, Jaydev Unadkat needs to repay the faith and Jofra Archer can further stake his claim for a place in England’s World Cup squad. In a competitive league, there is plenty for RR to be optimistic about. Can they get the better of KXIP’s key opening partnership?

AP Photo/Rafiq Maqbool. RR vs KXIP Preview Dream11 – Jos Buttler was brilliant in IPL 2018.

Key to a KXIP win

That opening partnership is KL Rahul and Chris Gayle. Most of KXIP’s IPL 2018 joy was courtesy of KL Rahul, who had a superb tournament. He and Chris Gayle, who was outstanding in the recent ODI series vs England, will be key in overcoming RR, who will be sure to focus plenty of their efforts on good powerplay bowling. However, another key question is whether the likes of Mayank Agarwal, Karun Nair and Nicholas Pooran can deliver when required.

Also, how well KXIP’s bowlers fare in the likely absence of Andrew Tye, IPL 2018’s leading-wicket taker, will be crucial to the result. Mujeeb ur Rahman, Ravi Ashwin and Mohammed Shami vs Ajinkya Rahane and Jos Buttler be crucial, as well as how well KXIP can keep the pressure on RR’s potentially very dangerous middle order.

IPL 2019: RR vs KXIP Preview Dream11 – Will KL Rahul have another big season?

Possible Playing 11

Steve Smith is set to return for RR. Two key players who will be keen to live up to the price tag are Ben Stokes and Jaydev Unadkat. They were under par in IPL 2018. With Dhawal Kulkarni possessing a good record vs KXIP, he could get the nod over Varun Aaron.

RR: 1. Ajinkya Rahane (c), 2. Jos Buttler (wk), 3. Steve Smith, 4. Sanju Samson, 5. Ben Stokes, 6. Rahul Tripathi 7. K Gowtham, 8. Shreyas Gopal, 9. Jofra Archer, 10. Jaydev Unadkat, 11. Dhawal Kulkarni/Varun Aaron

With Mike Hesson as coach and the astute Ravi Ashwin as captain, KXIP can hope for a better season. Andrew Tye is apparently still in Australia, so he will miss this match.

KXIP: 1. Chris Gayle, 2. KL Rahul (wk), 3. Mayank Agarwal, 4. Karun Nair, 5. Nicholas Pooran, 6. Mandeep Singh, 7. R Ashwin (c), 8. Sam Curran, 9. Ankit Rajpoot/Varun Chakravarthy, 10. Mohammed Shami, 11. Mujeeb Ur Rahman

Key stats and points:

  • Huge decision to be made on the wicketkeeper position. Both Jos Buttler and KL Rahul were outstanding in IPL 2018.
  • Jos Buttler vs KXIP in IPL 2018: 51 (39) and 82 (58).
  • KL Rahul vs RR in IPL 2018: 84* (54) and 95* (70).
  • David Warner came back with a bang with 85 (53) vs KKR. Will Steve Smith make a strong return too?
  • Chris Gayle vs RR in IPL 2018: 8 (11) and 1 (1). Chris Gayle strikes at just 117 vs offspin. K Gowtham will be possibly used to target Gayle. Definitely worth looking at, but with caution.
  • Sanju Samson was one of the bright spots of IPL 2018: 441 runs at 137.81.
  • Karun Nair was in decent, but unspectacular form in the recent Sayed Mushtaq T20 tournament. His last six scores: 71, 10, 18, 21, 42*, 24, 8*. Mayank Agarwal looked solid – his last five scores: 7*, 33, 43*, 13, 85*.
  • Nicholas Pooran displayed some fine form in the recent Bangladesh Premier League. He scored 47*, 28, 19, 12 and 76* in his last five innings.
  • Ben Stokes had an underwhelming IPL 2018 campaign. However, he was just coming back from injury and had a case hanging over his head. Now, he looks ready to fire.
  • Just 10 wickets for R Ashwin in IPL 2018. However, he has made clear his intentions of not being a one-format player. He will be keen to deliver.
  • Mujeeb ur Rahman will be a key man in the powerplay. Jofra Archer was slightly under par in the recent BBL (and two wickets in two games vs KXIP last season), but he is always worth considering.
  • Dhawal Kulkarni has dismissed Chris Gayle three times in 31 balls in IPL. He has also dismissed KL Rahul three times in 18 balls. This could be an interesting match up.

  • RR have an outstanding record at Sawai Masingh Stadium in Jaipur: 29 wins, 11 losses.

  • These two sides played each other twice in the space of three days in IPL 2018. Both sides won a game each.

Match Prediction

This is a game between two sides looking to make a significant impression.

At home, though, RR look good for a win against an KXIP side that has to prove they can bounce back from what was a very poor finish to IPL 2018.

IPL 2019: MI vs DC Preview Dream11 Prediction

IPL 2019: MI vs DC Preview Dream11. Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Capitals Preview Dream11 Prediction

Preview co-written by @Jaishreeram1898

The third match of IPL 2019 is upon us. MI, three time champions, will be looking to finally make a good start to an IPL campaign. DC, after a bottom-placed finish in IPL 2018, will be hoping for the same. They haven’t won an IPL Title, but there is no doubt they can’t be taken lightly.

Mumbai Indians missing out on the playoffs was one of the shocks of IPL 2018. However, with their prowess at the business end of IPL tournaments, they are indeed one of the favourites in a very competitive league. They look one of the most balanced sides under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, with their batting and bowling looking pretty well covered. Can they finally win the first game of an IPL tournament after four years?

The rebranded Delhi Capitals will be hoping that the new name means new results. Their IPL 2018 campaign was disappointing, but we saw the further rise of Rishabh Pant. Like MI, DC have struggled in first games of IPL tournaments, winning just four of 11. However, they are a young, fresh side, and fans can be hoping for an exciting campaign under Shreyas Iyer. Can they made a statement right away?

Key to a MI win

Rohit Sharma’s form at nos. 3 and 4 wasn’t consistent enough in IPL 2018. This played a big role in MI’s demise, falling just short of a playoffs place. Ahead of IPL 2019, Rohit Sharma has promised he will open in every game, which gives him the opportunity to give MI a strong start. With either Evin Lewis or Quinton de Kock likely to join him, a strong MI powerplay is well within the realms of possibility. With Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, the Pandya brothers and Kieron Pollard to follow, MI can look to put pressure on a DC attack that can leak runs, despite its talent.

Also, MI’s pace stocks have taken a hit. Adam Milne has been ruled out of the tournament with a heel injury, and Lasith Malinga will miss at least the first six games to play domestic 50-over cricket ahead of the World Cup. However, MI’s depth is a real strength of theirs, with Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell McClenaghan crucial at the top for MI. With the Pandya brothers, Ben Cutting and Mayank Markande on hand, MI will be out to get the better of a very talented looking DC lineup.

Image credit: AFP. IPL 2019: MI vs DC Preview Dream11 – Rohit Sharma is set to play his 300th match.

Key to a DC win

Shreyas Iyer was superb in the recent Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament, Colin Ingram was excellent in the PSL and Rishabh Pant was IPL 2018’s second-highest run scorer. With the exciting Prithvi Shaw, experienced Shikhar Dhawan and potentially damaging Colin Munro also on hand, DC have a super exciting top six. How they cope with MI’s variety will be key to their performance, with a strong powerplay vital to a big total. Will they deliver to help get a victory first up?

Also, can DC’s bowling attack get the better of MI’s top order? Trent Boult was excellent at times in a difficult 2018 season for Delhi, and any movement he can get will be key. With variety in their spin attack thanks to Sandeep Lamichhane, Axar Patel and Amit Mishra, DC have the slow bowlers to back up quality work from the seamers, which also includes the promising Avesh Khan. Can they create some nerves for MI early and then build on it?

As mentioned, Rohit Sharma is set to open for MI. One of Evin Lewis or Quinton de Kock will likely partner him. It remains to be seen whether MI go with Ben Cutting for an extra pace option, or Yuvraj Singh, who struggled in IPL 2018.

My possible MI XI: 1. Rohit Sharma (c), 2. Evin Lewis, 3. Suryakumar Yadav, 4. Ishan Kishan (wk), 5. Kieron Pollard, 6. Hardik Pandya, 7. Krunal Pandya 8. Ben Cutting, 9. Mitchell McClenaghan, 10. Mayank Markande, 11. Jasprit Bumrah

For DC, Colin Munro is a chance to open. However, his form of late has been ordinary, which means Sherfane Rutherford could get a look in.

  • Head-to-Head: Played 22, MI 11, DC 11
  • Rohit Sharma averages 40.9 as opener in IPL cricket, with a strike rate of 131.80. This match will be his 300th T20 appearance.
  • Each team that won the toss at Wankhede Stadium in IPL 2018 chose to bowl. The team batting first won four times.
  • DC beat MI twice in IPL 2018. This included an incredible seven-wicket win to consign MI to three straight defeats.

Match Prediction

What a cracking match this promises to be. It is the experience of MI against the youth of DC.

Pakistan vs Australia 2nd ODI Preview Dream11

Pakistan vs Australia 2nd ODI Preview Dream11. PAK vs AUS 2nd ODI Preview Dream11 Prediction

Another ODI in 2019, another promising performance.

Australia picked up their fourth straight ODI victory with a solid display in Sharjah. The bowlers kept a lid on Pakistan’s scoring rate for the majority of their innings, before batting beautifully after a good death period for Pakistan. That Aaron Finch hit a century is a huge boost for Australia, in conjunction with Shaun Marsh’s strong knock which creates further headaches for the selectors. Can the Aussies continue picking up form ahead of the World Cup?

Pakistan played one of the more traditional ODI innings you’ll see. Their scoring rate throughout their innings was not in-line with what you’d see in ODI cricket these days. That they kept wickets in hand and scored what seemed a challenging total was encouraging. Haris Sohail continued his good start to his ODI career, and had enough support. However, Pakistan’s bowling was quite toothless, and need an improvement today.

Also read: 5 big predictions for IPL 2019

Key to a Pakistan win

You feel Pakistan’s batting lineup from the first ODI needs some changing up in the second. A top three of Imam-ul-Haq, Shan Masood and Haris Sohail was going to mean some dot balls. Here, Pakistan might be well-advised to send in the attacking Umar Akmal at three, providing some all-important impetus in the early and middle overs. Then, the likes of Haris Sohail and Shoaib Malik can consolidate, paving the way for another late-overs surge.

However, the biggest key for Pakistan is an improved bowling display. Mohammad Amir’s white-ball form for Pakistan continues to prove underwhelming, which might mean Usman Khan Shinwari is a key addition for this match. Mohammad Abbas will be a steady option, but will Pakistan be better served testing the promising Mohammad Hasnain? Also, Pakistan need Yasir Shah to deliver wickets with his legspin in the crucial middle overs. Can Pakistan break the Finch-Khawaja partnership early, and get into Australia’s in-form middle order as early as possible?

Photo by Francois Nel/Getty Images. Pakistan vs Australia 2nd ODI Preview Dream11 – Haris Sohail averages 48+ after 27 ODIs.

Key to an Australia win

There are indeed more headaches for the selectors. Where David Warner and Steve Smith fit back in is a big question after Aaron Finch and Shaun Marsh were superb in the first ODI. Those two will be key again against a Pakistan attack looking for more penetration, along with Usman Khawaja, whose opening partnership with Aaron Finch is proving to be a very good one. If Australia’s top three can set the platform for the likes of Peter Handscomb, Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis to play with freedom, it could be a tough outing for Pakistan.

Also, can Australia build pressure on Pakistan’s top order? The first ODI saw Australia keep the scoring rate relatively quiet in the opening 30-35 overs, which gave the Aussies a chance to restrict Pakistan below 250. However, the death bowling and tactics is an area for improvement, conceding 55 in the final five overs to give Pakistan a score they didn’t look all likely to get. If Jhye Richardson is retained, can he have a better day? Will Nathan Lyon and Adam Zampa prove to be difficult to get away again? A big opportunity awaits Australia.

Possible Playing 11

Pakistan could make changes to their batting order, as well as personnel in their bowling attack. Mohammad Hasnain could get a look in, as well as Usman Khan Shinwari. This attack gives Pakistan a better chance of wickets in white-ball cricket.

Pakistan: 1. Imam-ul-Haq, 2. Shan Masood, 3. Umar Akmal, 4. Haris Sohail, 5. Shoaib Malik (c), 6. Mohammad Rizwan (wk), 7. Faheem Ashraf, 8. Imad Wasim, 9. Yasir Shah, 10. Mohammad Amir/Usman Shinwari, 11. Mohammad Hasnain

Australia could look to bring Pat Cummins after a rest from the first ODI. If he is brought back, it could be for Jhye Richardson, who was expensive in the first match.

Australia: 1. Usman Khawaja, 2. Aaron Finch (c), 3. Peter Handscomb, 4. Shaun Marsh, 5. Glenn Maxwell, 6. Marcus Stoinis, 7. Alex Carey (wk), 8. Jhye Richardson/Pat Cummins, 9. Nathan Coulter-Nile, 10. Nathan Lyon, 11. Adam Zampa

IPL 2019: KKR vs SRH Preview Dream11

IPL 2019: KKR vs SRH Preview Dream11. Kolkata Knight Riders vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Preview Dream11 Prediction

After what was hilarious-tweets filled opening game of IPL 2019, two top four contenders go head-to-head in a mouthwatering match up. KKR is a two-time champion, back at Eden Gardens for a new season. SRH, last season’s finalists, held the cup in 2016.

Kolkata Knight Riders is looking a good side under the captaincy of Dinesh Karthik. KKR are always difficult to beat, especially at their beloved home ground. Their spin and all-round stocks looks great. However, can their batting fire on a consistent basis?

Sunrisers Hyderabad, one of IPL 2019’s contenders, begin their campaign with a tough test. All eyes will be on David Warner whose ban of one year due to ball tampering is all but over. Kane Williamson is in doubt for this clash with the shoulder injury he picked up against Bangladesh recently, but the return of Warner can be a big boost. With SRH’s bowling one of the best in the league, they can make a statement first up at Eden Gardens.

Also read: 5 big predictions for IPL 2019

Key to a KKR win

Their batting doesn’t have the biggest names, but you always back KKR to put on a big showing. Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine could likely feature at the top, and given Narine’s ability to get the side off to a flyer, he will certainly be key against SRH’s efficient attack. With the likes of Nitish Rana, Shubman Gill, Robin Uthappa and Dinesh Karthik to follow, KKR can set up a platform for their hard-hitting all-rounder Andre Russell to launch. How they handle Rashid Khan in the middle overs will be key. They will want to face him off the back of a strong powerplay, with set batsmen to deal with his threat.

Also, the Eden Gardens track typically favours spin, even though their has been assistance for seamers in recent seasons. In Kuldeep Yadav, Sunil Narine and Piyush Chawla, KKR have an excellent battery of spinners to put pressure on SRH’s batting, which did have a tendency to struggle for power in IPL 2018. Getting the better of David Warner and Jonny Bairstow early will be key, which puts onus on the likes of Lockie Ferguson, Andre Russell and Harry Gurney to deliver as the key seam bowlers. Can KKR put early pressure on SRH’s middle order?

Image credit: PTI. IPL 2019: KKR vs SRH Preview Dream11 – Will Dinesh Karthik lead KKR to a big season?

Key to a SRH win

One of the most balanced sides on paper, SRH have the opportunity to showcase that quality in their opening match. Even though Kane Williamson is in doubt, David Warner and Jonny Bairstow are two dangerous players at the top. If they can deliver, it will be difficult to stop them from making a good score, given they have the likes of Manish Pandey, Yusuf Pathan, Vijay Shankar and Mohammad Nabi to follow.

This is in combination with their main strength – their bowling. SRH were outstanding in restricting teams in IPL 2018, with only CSK standing in the way of a second title. Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be key in both the powerplay and death overs, along with Siddarth Kaul, who was one of IPL 2018’s premier bowlers. Khaleel Ahmed needs to display an ability to keep the runs down when batsmen are going hard. With the likes of Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi, SRH have quality spin options to turn to. If Shakib Al Hasan is fit to play, then they look even more efficient. Can SRH’s main bowlers, along with their all-rounders, deliver a performance that enables them to put pressure on KKR’s middle order?

Possible Playing 11

For KKR, sending out Sunil Narine to open can give them the head start they need against a good attack. Also, it remains to be seen who they play out of Harry Gurney or Lockie Ferguson. If the pitch contains some pace, Ferguson could be the option.

My possible KKR XI: 1. Chris Lynn, 2. Sunil Narine, 3. Robin Uthappa, 4. Shubman Gill, 5. Nitish Rana, 6. Dinesh Karthik (c & wk), 7. Andre Russell, 8. Piyush Chawla, 9. Kuldeep Yadav, 10. Sandeep Warrier, 11. Harry Gurney/Lockie Ferguson

As mentioned, SRH skipper Kane Williamson is in doubt with a shoulder problem. If he does play, then it could be Mohammad Nabi to be the unlucky one to miss out.

My possible SRH XI: 1. David Warner, 2. Jonny Bairstow (wk), 3. Manish Pandey, 4. Vijay Shankar, 5. Mohammad Nabi, 6. Yusuf Pathan, 7. Rashid Khan, 8. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (c), 9 Sandeep Sharma/ Shahbaz Nadeem, 10. Siddharth Kaul, 11. Khaleel Ahmed

Dream11 Prediction

Opinion: Pros and Cons of Dream11’s Deadline Time Decision

Key stats and points:

  • Dinesh Karthik is superb for KKR and in the back end of a T20 innings.
Since 2015, his strike rate is 173.6 and has found the boundary every four balls. However, Jonny Bairstow is also a fine white-ball player, coming off scores of 68, 12 and 37 in the recent series vs West Indies.
  • Chris Lynn’s scores vs SRH in IPL 2018: 49 (34) and 55 (43).
  • Sunil Narine vs SRH in IPL 2018: 29 (10), 2/17 (4) and 1/23 (4). He is a must-pick.
  • Will David Warner fire right away? A reminder he was IPL 2017’s highest run scorer.
  • Kane Williamson (735) was the highest run scorer in IPL 2018. If he is fit, he is a good pick.
  • Shubman Gill is one of the key young guns to watch in IPL 2019.
  • Andre Russell in IPL 2018: 315 runs at SR of 184.79. Sunil Narine scored 357 at 189.89.
  • Rashid Khan continues to take wickets in T20s. Bhuvneshwar Kumar took just nine wickets in 12 matches last season, but is always worth considering given his powerplay and death abilities. He took 3/26 at Eden Gardens last season.
  • Siddarth Kaul in IPL 2018: 21 wickets (equal second most with Rashid Khan).
  • Kuldeep Yadav at Eden Gardens is always a good proposition.

South Africa vs Sri Lanka 3rd T20I Preview Dream11. RSA vs SL 3rd T20I Preview Dream11 Prediction

The last game of the South African home season is here. Disappointingly, it has fizzled out as a contest, with one-sided matches dominating the white-ball leg of the tour.

South Africa won yet again. It was refreshing for them to have Reeza Hendricks (who was badly out of touch) and Rassie van der Dussen score well en-route to a strong 180. From there, the result was never in doubt, as Isuru Udana yet again was the only real thorn in South Africa’s bowling line up. Will the Proteas sweep Sri Lanka 8-0 in the limited overs matches, after a shock loss in the Tests?

Well, when it comes to Sri Lanka, we sound like a broken record. Yet again their batting has not been up to scratch, with number eight Isuru Udana saving them from complete embarrassment in Centurion. Their key players aren’t stepping up, much to the dismay of skipper Lasith Malinga, who has hinted his ODI career could end after the 2019 World Cup. Can they pick up a consolation win?

Key to a South Africa win

The series is done and dusted, but South Africa will love to see a big innings from Aiden Markram. He has been in terrific form domestically, but missed out in the second T20I. With Reeza Hendricks coming off runs and Rassie van der Dussen continuing his fine form, South Africa’s top three have it in them to set a platform for JP Duminy and David Miller. Is another big total on the way?

Also, South Africa have been too good for Sri Lanka’s batsmen. Chris Morris walked into the side and took three wickets, in conjunction with Tabraiz Shamsi who backed up the work of his seamers superbly. Dale Steyn was expensive last time out, but wickets are the order of the day. If South Africa can rip through Sri Lanka’s top order again, it’s lights out.

Key to a Sri Lanka win

Niroshan Dickwella has had a poor tour. So too Thisara Perera. Kusal Mendis has had a poor T20I series. As a result, Sri Lanka haven’t been able to muster anything of note with the bat. It is their last chance to deliver the goods, and must overcome South Africa’s powerplay bowlers to set the innings up. If they rely on the superb Isuru Udana to get them out of a hole, again, it’s lights out.

Also, can Sri Lanka’s bowlers get the better of South Africa’s top order? Lasith Malinga was again good with the ball, but needs more support. Akila Dananjaya and Isuru Udana will be key members of the attack, and so too Jeffrey Vandersay and Thisara Perera. To win, Sri Lanka need an all-round bowling display.

IPL2019: CSK vs RCB Preview Dream11

IPL 2019 Match 1: CSK vs RCB Preview Dream11. Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore Preview Dream11 Prediction

Preview co-written by N.S. Shekhawat

Here we are. The world’s biggest T20 league is upon us, and it promises to be a cracker first up. Who will make a winning start to IPL 2019, arguably set to be the most competitive yet?

Chennai Super Kings enter IPL 2019 as the defending champions. They were outstanding in their first season back from a two-year hiatus, going all the way under the guidance and leadership of MS Dhoni. They start as one of the favourites for this season’s title, with their batting line up looking strong. However, how their bowlers fare will also make for interesting viewing. Can their strong batting combine well with their bowling to continue their dominance of RCB?

There is plenty of optimism regarding Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2019. A franchise full of riches and excitement, it is incredible to think RCB have never won the title. Also, they have not beaten CSK since 2014, and you have to go all the way back to 2008 to see RCB beat CSK in Chennai. You can’t come to conclusions after one game, but RCB can give us hope that this season could be different if they knock off CSK first up. Their batting looks magnificent on paper, but will their bowling hold up?

Key to a CSK win

CSK is mostly reliant on their batting, and that showed as they won IPL 2018 despite their bowlers being quite expensive. Shane Watson is coming off a man of the series performance in the recently concluded PSL. With Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Faf du Plessis, Dwayne Bravo and MS Dhoni in the ranks, CSK once again have the experience and quality to cause teams problems. Here, they will be out to target RCB’s bowlers at all stages of the innings, re-opening RCB wounds in the process. Can CSK get to those death overs with wickets in hand, where they can launch with total impact?

Also, how well can CSK deal with RCB’s own power? Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Shimron Hetmyer and Shivam Dube is enough to send shivers down the spine of any side. Deepak Chahar was mostly excellent in the powerplay overs in IPL 2018, and could be crucial here in getting the ball moving. With Lungi Ngidi, one of CSK’s best last season, out of the tournament, CSK have to combine well as a unit to dislodge RCB. Ravindra Jadeja, who took 3/18 last time out vs RCB, will be key, along with Dwayne Bravo in those crucial death overs. Can CSK get the better of RCB’s two big guns, placing pressure on the middle order?

Key to an RCB win

Despite what is an improved batting line up in terms of balance, RCB still need AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli to deliver. This is especially so with Colin de Grandhomme just landing in India, and Marcus Stoinis playing for Australia in UAE. The two greats can set the tone, enabling the likes of Shimron Hetmyer, Parthiv Patel and Shivam Dube to play with freedom. RCB’s batting is certainly one of the things to look forward to in IPL 2019, and it will be interesting to see whether they can get the better of CSK’s bowling.

However, what will RCB’s bowlers deliver? Umesh Yadav was outstanding in the powerplay overs in IPL 2018, but his death bowling was so poor that how he bowls in the early stages will be crucial for RCB. Tim Southee, who has been in and out of New Zealand’s LOI sides in recent times, will also be key. Can they pave the way for Yuzvendra Chahal and Washington Sundar to put further pressure on CSK? Will RCB get early wickets, including Shane Watson and Ambati Rayudu, and then pick regular wickets to ensure CSK can’t launch with confidence in the death overs? Remember, RCB failed to defend 205 vs CSK last season, so the bowlers must show improvement.

Possible Playing 11

As mentioned, Lungi Ngidi is out of IPL 2019 with a side strain. Mohit Sharma, brought in from KXIP, could line up, if CSK don’t go with Imran Tahir.

CSK: 1. Shane Watson, 2. Faf du Plessis, 3. Suresh Raina, 4. Ambati Rayudu, 5. MS Dhoni (c & wk), 6. Kedar Jadhav, 7. Dwayne Bravo, 8. Ravindra Jadeja, 9. Deepak Chahar, 10. David Willey, 11. Mohit Sharma/Imran Tahir

Colin de Grandhomme and Tim Southee arrived to India on match eve, so it remains to be seen whether they play. Shimron Hetmyer is set to make his IPL debut.

RCB: 1. Parthiv Patel (wk), 2. Virat Kohli (c), 3. AB de Villiers, 4. Shimron Hetmyer, 5. Moeen Ali, 6. Shivam Dube, 7. Washington Sundar, 8. Tim Southee, 9. Umesh Yadav, 10. Yuzvendra Chahal, 11. Mohammad Siraj/Navdeep Saini

Dream11 Prediction

Opinion: Dream11 IPL Fantasy is different this year with the new deadline time. Did Dream11 make the right decision?

Key stats and points:

  • AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli were both dismissed for a combined nine runs in RCB’s last match vs CSK. However, no player has more runs vs CSK than Virat Kohli. Also, ABD scored 68 (30) vs CSK in the first meeting in IPL 2018.
  • MS Dhoni vs RCB in IPL 2018: 70* (34) and 31* (23). No player has more runs vs RCB than Dhoni.
  • Ambati Rayudu vs RCB in IPL 2018: 82 (53) and 32 (25).
  • Umesh Yadav took 14 wickets in the powerplay in IPL 2018, the most of any bowler (econ. 6.70).
  • Shane Watson is coming off a man of the series performance in PSL 2019.
  • Imran Tahir is the only bowler in the CSK squad to have dismissed AB de Villiers more than once.
  • Ravindra Jadeja took 3/18 in his last game vs RCB.

Stats and Facts

  • CSK have not lost to RCB since 2014. At the MA Chidambaram Stadium, this extends to 2008.
  • RCB have lost the first match of IPL the last two seasons.
  • Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers have a combined 15,301 T20 runs.
  • Shane Watson scored 430 runs in 12 innings in the recent PSL.

Match Prediction

Fireworks to kick off IPL 2019.

RCB’s batting presents a serious danger. However, their bowling is a concern. Similar applies to CSK, but to a lesser extent, which is why they are defending champions.

I back CSK to win the first match of IPL 2019. However, don’t count RCB out, as they are capable of making a big statement.
