Afghanistan vs Ireland 3rd ODI Preview Dream11

Afghanistan vs Ireland 3rd ODI Preview Dream11. AFG vs IRE 3rd ODI Preview Dream11 Prediction

An Afghanistan spin masterclass and Irish fight has headlined this series to date. Rain ruined the second ODI after Ireland fought back, who now have the chance to level the series with two to play.

Afghanistan should still like their chances, though. They set an excellent platform in the second ODI, but risked not even reaching 250. While three half centuries were scored, Afghanistan will feel they have improvement in them after losing five in pursuit of 162 to win the first ODI. Of course, their spin attack remains a big threat, and can ensure they cannot lose the series with a win here.

Ireland’s bowlers were on the wrong end of carnage in the T20Is. In the ODIs, though, they have fared a lot better, bowling well enough to give them hope of competing strongly. However, their batting is an area to look at, with the Irish struggling badly in the first ODI. That they reached 161 was a good effort in the end. Here, though, they need to aim for 200+.

Key to an Afghanistan win

If Afghanistan’s spinners fire, then the 250 they managed before the rain set in on Saturday would be plenty. Mujeeb ur Rahman will be present again to challenge the Irish batsmen early, with Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan to follow. Asghar Afghan can count on 30 quality overs from these three, and will be keen for quality from his seam bowlers that keeps the pressure on Ireland. Gulbadin Naib was man of the match in the first ODI, and Dawlat Zadran or Sayed Shirzad will be key in providing more wicket taking threat. Will Afghanistan rip through the Irish top order again?

Also, who will get a start and convert it? Hazratullah Zazai played his trademark knock in the second ODI, which enabled the likes of Rahmat Shah and Hashmatullah Shahidi to settle into the innings. The same will be expected here, but Afghanistan will want slightly better strike rotation in the middle overs, plus converting starts to bigger scores. Will it be a more polished display by Afghanistan?

Key to an Ireland win

Ireland’s bowlers have shown they can put up a fight. However, their batting is key to their success. Their only innings so far this series saw them reach 15/3 at the end of the powerplay, which meant they were fighting to keep their head above water for the rest of the innings. Paul Stirling is in good form, but Ireland need more from the likes of William Porterfield and Andy Balbirnie in delivering a strong start against Mujeeb ur Rahman in particular. Can the Irish also play the seamers well and ensure at least one set batsman is at the crease when Rashid Khan comes on to bowl?

Also, can Ireland pick up early wickets, just as they lost them in the first ODI? Tim Murtagh, Boyd Rankin and Andy McBrine will be key at the top. Limiting the impact of hard-hitting Hazratullah Zazai will be crucial. Early wickets for Ireland can allow George Dockrell and the miserly Simi Singh to target an Afghanistan middle order that can take time to get in. While plenty of focus is on their batting, Ireland’s bowlers again have a crucial role to play.

Possible Playing 11

It remains to be seen whether Afghanistan stick with the same team as the washed out ODI, where they had some experimentation.

Afghanistan: 1. Hazratullah Zazai, 2. Javed Ahmadi/Mohammad Shahzad, 3. Rahmat Shah, 4. Hashmatullah Shahidi, 5. Asghar Afghan (c), 6. Mohammad Nabi, 7. Gulbadin Naib, 8. Ikram Ali Khil (wk), 9. Rashid Khan, 10. Sayed Shirzad, 11. Mujeeb ur Rahman

Ireland handed a debut to James Cameron-Dow in the last match, who was expensive. However, they could stick with the same XI.

  • Rashid Khan has 42 ODI wickets against Ireland, averaging 14.90.

Match Prediction

Ireland showed some excellent fight in the washed out second ODI. Conditions in Dehradun for the second match looks clear, which should hopefully provide good, competitive cricket.

However, Afghanistan’s spinners look too strong. I back the Afghans to win and take a 2-0 series lead.

India vs Australia 2nd ODI Preview Dream11

India vs Australia 2nd ODI Preview Dream11. IND vs AUS 2nd ODI Preview Dream11 Prediction

The first ODI somewhat went to script. Australia tried hard with the bat, but lost wickets in those crucial middle overs. Two of India’s top three then fought hard, with MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav hurting Australia for the second ODI in a row.

With England underwhelming in West Indies, India can be considered World Cup favourites. They are covering more bases with each passing game, with their bowling attack continuously proving itself as the best in ODIs. Their batting against the swinging ball remains an area of concern, but their middle order has done the job in their past two ODIs. Will India create even more optimism with 2-0 series lead in Nagpur?

Australia had their moments in Hyderabad. However, familiar issues remain. The last two ODIs against India have been very similar, scoring in the 230s and then feeling the pain from MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav. Aaron Finch has now gone 20 consecutive innings without a 50 in white-ball cricket. They continue to lose wickets in the middle overs, without taking many themselves in the same period. The ingredients are there for a good ODI side, but they have to start turning good moments into good results. If they go 2-0 down here, there is surely no coming back.

Key to an India win

India’s bowlers continue to impress. They have been superb in 2019 so far, and even with Jasprit Bumrah not quite at his best in Hyderabad, they still restricted Australia to a modest total. With Aaron Finch struggling and Usman Khawaja still making his mark in ODI cricket, India have a great opportunity for early wickets. Also, those middle overs will be crucial, which calls for more tight overs from the likes of Ravindra Jadeja and Kedar Jadhav as Kuldeep Yadav works his magic to the likes of Peter Handscomb and Glenn Maxwell. Will they again force Australia to struggle in the death overs?

Also, that India are picking up good results with their top three not at their best is encouraging. However, India can push Australia further into the mire with a strong top order display. With the middle order, particularly MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav, in fine touch recently, it could be a long day for the Aussies if a strong platform is set. Will Shikhar Dhawan hit some form in what has been an underwhelming few months? What about Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma after last-match starts?

Image credit: AP. India vs Australia 2nd ODI Preview Dream11 – MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav have developed an excellent partnership.

Key to an Australia win

The Australian captain continues to struggle. Will it be the day Aaron Finch fires? How he handles Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah could be key to the result, and it might see him play with a very attacking mindset. If he can pull it off, it enables Usman Khawaja to get settled into his innings, which then sets a platform for the middle order. However, Australia have to guard against wickets in the middle overs due to dot balls, which halted their progress in Hyderabad. Who will put their hand up for a long innings that sets Australia up for a strong push in the final overs?

Also, Australia have been able to get into India’s line up. This is no mean feat against such a prolific top three. The challenge, however, is to maintain wicket taking prowess throughout the innings. Wickets in the middle overs is a big difference between the sides right now, and Australia need to find ways to get wickets. Will the seamers deliver another strong start? Can Adam Zampa build on his promising showing last match? Who will get MS Dhoni out if given the chance? Again, the ingredients are there for Australia, but need regular wickets.

India vs Australia 2nd ODI Preview Dream11 – Aaron Finch has struggled badly vs India in the last five months.

Possible Playing 11

Vijay Shankar was quite poor with the ball in Hyderabad. However, India could stick with the same team given the batting depth Shankar and Ravindra Jadeja provide. After all, they did win the match.

India: 1. Rohit Sharma, 2. Shikhar Dhawan, 3. Virat Kohli (c), 4. Ambati Rayudu, 5. MS Dhoni (wk), 6. Kedar Jadhav, 7. Vijay Shankar, 8. Ravindra Jadeja, 9. Mohammed Shami, 10. Kuldeep Yadav, 11. Jasprit Bumrah

Shaun Marsh was said to be training with the team ahead of the second ODI, and could line up in Nagpur. He would likely replace Ashton Turner.

Australia: 1. Usman Khawaja, 2. Aaron Finch (c), 3. Shaun Marsh, 4. Marcus Stoinis, 5. Peter Handscomb, 6. Glenn Maxwell, 7. Alex Carey (wk), 8. Nathan Coulter-Nile, 9. Pat Cummins, 10. Jason Behrendhorff, 11. Adam Zampa

Key stats and notes:

  • India have twice hit 350+ vs Australia in Nagpur. They chased down 351 in 2013.
  • MS Dhoni has four half centuries in a row vs Australia, with his last three unbeaten.
  • Dhoni also has a superb record at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium. He has 268 runs in five matches at 134.00.
  • Virat Kohli has 209 runs in four matches at 69.66. Rohit Sharma has 204 runs in two matches at 102. Shikhar Dhawan has a century in his only match. Picking at least two of the Indian top three is a good bet. Is Dhawan worth going for with his form the way it is?
  • Usman Khawaja is coming off an encouraging half century. Peter Handscomb remains one of Australia’s better players of spin, even though the first ODI didn’t quite show it.
  • Marcus Stoinis is wicketless in the last five matches he has bowled in. However, he always remains a quality option.
  • Kedar Jadhav was man of the match in the last game. Pat Cummins’ record vs India in ODIs continues to underwhelm (four wickets at 79.50).

Stats and Facts

  • MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni are the three top scorers at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur.
  • India have won all three meetings vs Australia at this venue.
  • Australia have lost their last three ODIs against India, with their last win coming in Sydney.

Match Prediction

Australia will fight hard again. Whether Shaun Marsh can deliver right away in his (expected) return is another matter, but Australia will have their moments.

However, they don’t seem to be sustaining those moments for long enough. India are looking strong at the moment, and will take this match out to take a 2-0 series lead.

West Indies vs England ODI Series Player Ratings

West Indies vs England ODI Series Player Ratings. WI vs ENG Player Ratings

England were redefining how cricket should be played.

The beautiful game of cricket has been played for hundreds of years, but no one could create an impact England have. Apparently.

In the very next series after success in Sri Lanka, England have well and truly struggled. Their batting can be as up and down as a yoyo (remember these?). Their bowling inspires as much confidence as Eoin Morgan calling Moeen Ali to have a bowl. A 2-2 result, in a series they were widely expected to win, is a poor result.

West Indies, though, were outstanding. They could, and should, have won this series. With an exciting and capable batting and bowling lineup, there is reason to believe the Windies can truly challenge for a Semi Final berth at this year’s World Cup.

In this article, I will go through each player this series and rate them out of ten. Leave a comment!

West Indies:

Chris Gayle: 5 matches, 424 runs, average: 106.00

Chris Gayle didn’t make a return to ODI cricket.

ODI cricket made a return to Chris Gayle.

The 39 year old was absolutely brilliant, leaving England wishing they could go home already. Treated England’s bowlers as park cricketers at times, on his way to 424 runs at an unbelievable strike rate of 134.17. Loved Moeen Ali with a side of Chris Woakes. Scores of 135, 50, 162 and 77 makes him clear man of the series. 10

West Indies vs England ODI Series Player Ratings. WI vs ENG Player Ratings Cricket Blog CricBlog Cricket Player Ratings
West Indies vs England ODI Series Player Ratings – Chris Gayle dented some confidence!

John Campbell: 5 matches, 69 runs, average: 17.25

Similarities to Australia’s bowling effort in the recent first ODI vs India. Started full of promise, and ended with a damp squib. Didn’t lock down that opener slot, and selectors surely nervous about considering Kieran Powell again. 3.5

Shai Hope: 5 matches, 115 runs, average: 28.75

Had superb moments in India and Bangladesh recently. Started superbly in this series, but couldn’t keep it going. Put Chris Gayle’s confidence into Shai Hope and you have one hell of a player. 5

Darren Bravo: 5 matches, 133 runs, average: 44.33

Arguably the most pleasing aspect of Bravo’s performance was his strong strike rate of 95.00. When he came back to the side in Bangladesh, it is as if he was auditioning for the Test side in coloured clothing. Here, it was a solid series. 7

Shimron Hetmyer: 5 matches, 141 runs, average: 70.50

The RCB man turned on the style, winning man of the match in the second ODI. His 104* was excellent, but the Windies could have won the series if he delivered as we know he can in the fourth ODI. 7

Jason Holder: 5 matches, 48 runs, average: 16.00. 7 wickets, average: 33.14, econ: 6.89

The saying “the best thing since sliced bread” is common. For West Indies, it’s “the best thing since Jason Holder”. For once, Jason Holder’s numbers aren’t absolutely incredible. However, his leadership certainly is, leading his side to a strong series performance. 6

Carlos Brathwaite: 5 matches, 66 runs, average: 22.00. 5 wickets, average: 37.80, econ: 5.78

The only bowler in the series to go at less than a run-a-ball. Incredible stat. Brathwaite was steady with the ball, and played his best innings in the fourth ODI when he nearly got West Indies home in the huge chase. Can the Windies get more out of him consistently? 6

Ashley Nurse: 5 matches, 81 runs, average: 81.00. 1 wicket, average: 189.00, econ: 6.30

The doctor ordered some tighter bowling, but the Nurse was not able to deliver. Looked decent with the bat, but the Windies would like more from Nurse with the ball, especially as taking pace off the ball could be key in the World Cup. 4

Devendra Bishoo: 5 matches, 1 wicket, average: 170.00, econ: 7.08

Devendra Bishoo surely has something on senior management. His continued inclusion in the West Indies side has fans baffled. Toothless. 2

Sheldon Cottrell: 4 matches, 7 wickets, average: 19.00, econ: 6.04

Was left out of the first ODI, and then made an instant impact in the second. All fans should salute this man. 7.5

Oshane Thomas: 5 matches, 9 wickets, average: 23.22, econ: 7.16

Blew England away in the final ODI to give West Indies a fine series result. There is lots to like about the pacy Thomas, despite his high economy rate. Blink, and England were gone! 7

Nicholas Pooran: 1 match, 0 runs, average: 0.00

Made his debut in the first match, didn’t trouble the scorers and was then not seen for the remainder of the series. 0

England:

Jonny Bairstow: 5 matches, 101 runs, average: 25.25

Remember a time when Jonny Bairstow arguably had the best technique in England’s Test side? Now, there perhaps should be a campaign to “Make Jonny’s Technique Great Again.” He is getting bowled way too often for a top order player, as he had his stumps uprooted in the final two matches. 5

Alex Hales: 3 matches, 105 runs, average: 52.50

Incredible to think that Hales wouldn’t make the side if Jason Roy is fit. Marked his return to the team with an excellent 82 in the fourth ODI. He also equal top scored in the fifth ODI! With 23. 7.5

Joe Root: 5 matches, 144 runs, average: 36.00

Started the series so brilliantly, but got worse and worse as the series went on. Scores of 102, 36, 5 and 1 represents potential not fulfilled. With his love of dead-rubbers in Tests, perhaps Joe would have converted his final ODI 1 into a century if the series was won? 6.5

Eoin Morgan: 5 matches, 256 runs, average: 64.00

Outstanding series from skipper Morgan, with scores of 65, 70, 103 and 18. When he was out in the fifth ODI, England were in real strife. Their most consistent batsman. 8.5

Ben Stokes: 5 matches, 125 runs, average 41.66. 5 wickets, average: 35.20, econ: 6.76

Like his England teammates, Stokes had his good moments, and not so good ones. Can fans be very confident of World Cup success with England prone to accidents? 7

Fun read: How to reply to someone who says “cricket is so boring”!

Jos Buttler: 5 matches, 211 runs, average: 70.33

Had the cricket world talking about his incredible 150 off 77 balls. Eoin Morgan’s 88-ball 103 looked like a Test innings in comparison. Buttler made a couple of other starts in the series, where he surprisingly couldn’t quite get going in the second match. Credit to West Indies for keeping the best keeper-batsman in white-ball cricket as quiet as they possibly could (apart from that innings). 8

Moeen Ali: 5 matches, 24 runs, average: 12. 0 wickets, average: N/A, econ: 8.78

Moeen Ali is a nice bloke, but that’s not enough to get him a point. Chris Gayle, though, will happily give him an 11/10 after hitting a total of 11 sixes against Moeen. This is the most sixes hit by a single batsman against a single bowler in an entire ODI series/tournament. This was an awful series from a player whose place in the side should be questioned. 0

Started the series in fine fashion given the carnage, but the Windies quickly put an end to the smiles. His 2/59 in 10 overs was then followed by 0/91 a week later. As they say, a week is a long time in sport… 4

Liam Plunkett: 5 matches, 1 wicket, average: 133.00, econ: 6.33

Played the single match where he bowled a full ten overs for 62. Then England thought they’d bring him in for some X-Factor in the final ODI. His teammates didn’t make it possible for him to bowl more than one ball. 2

Mark Wood: 5 matches, 7 wickets, average: 28.85, econ: 6.12

The best of a bad bunch for England with the ball. His highlight a magnificent four-wicket haul when the Windies looked good to chase down 419. 7

Adil Rashid: 5 matches, 9 wickets, average: 20.77, econ: 7.48

Took wickets, but went for plenty. Bowled an incredible over in the fourth ODI, taking four wickets in five balls to deliver victory for England. The way he was used throughout the series was puzzling at times. 7

Jason Roy: 2 matches, 125 runs, average: 62.50

Unbelievable first ODI century to have England on their way to chasing 360. Missed the last two matches due to a hamstring injury. 8

What an exhilarating series that was.

Chris Gayle hit 37 sixes on his own, as many as Nasser Hussain did in his whole career. England went from scoring 418/6 to getting bundled out for 113 just days later.

The T20Is can be anything, but if they offer talking points like the Tests and ODIs, we are in for a goody.

South Africa vs Sri Lanka 1st ODI Preview Dream11

South Africa vs Sri Lanka 1st ODI Preview Dream11. SA vs SL 1st ODI Preview Dream11 Prediction

Attention turns to ODI Cricket after one of the most incredible results in Test history. A few weeks ago, it was a matter of how much the Proteas would win by. Now, it is about whether they can bounce back and gain confidence in a World Cup year.

Indeed, South Africa have had a rude awakening. Their Test series performance was one to forget, and with questions regarding their Semi Final prospects at this year’s World Cup, the time to fire is now. Hashim Amla has been left out of the squad (make of that what you will), with a number of different players presented opportunities as ODI Cricket’s showpiece event nears. Can the Proteas continue on from their series win against Pakistan with a strong start here?

Sri Lanka are coming off one of the best results in their history. However, their ODI form over the last two years has made for sorry reading. The Lions have lost 35 of 46 completed ODIs since the beginning of 2017, which includes a 5-0 loss the last time they played on South African soil. Also, their last three ODI wins have been in dead-rubbers, with their last success in a live ODI coming in the ODI Tri-Series against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe over a year ago. Can Sri Lanka spring further surprises and boost their confidence with the World Cup under three months away?

Key to a South Africa win

Quinton de Kock has been a shining light for South Africa of late. He has been in strong form in both Tests and ODIs, highlighted by his excellent performance in a crunch game vs Pakistan in January. He will be crucial at the top in setting the tone for South Africa, and enabling them to get a foothold in the series. With Reeza Hendricks, Faf du Plessis and Rassie van der Dussen all showing good form in their most recent ODI series, South Africa have the resources to set a platform for the likes of David Miller to go hard.

Also, there is plenty of excitement regarding the South Africa attack. Anrich Nortje, South Africa’s newest pace phenomenon, is a chance of making his debut. He has been in superb form in domestic cricket, and with Lungi Ngidi back, the competition for places is high. The Proteas had their best moments when their bowlers were on song in the recent series against Pakistan, and if they can fire here, a 1-0 series lead likely awaits.

Image credit: Getty Images. South Africa vs Sri Lanka 1st ODI Preview Dream11 – Faf du Plessis will be a key player for South Africa.

Key to a Sri Lanka win

Sri Lanka victories weren’t even considered a possibility ahead of this tour. They finished winless in New Zealand and Australia, coming into this tour on the back of heavy defeats. However, the magnificent Test series, where the bowlers were superb, has to be a source of confidence here. Lasith Malinga is still bowling well, highlighted by a five-for in the tour game, and he will be crucial in the early and death overs. The confident Kasun Rajitha and Vishwa Fernando are also likely to play, and with Akila Dananjaya back after his action was cleared, Sri Lanka can believe they can cause South Africa further problems. Can they pick up early wickets and continue the momentum?

However, a big test for Sri Lanka will be how they handle South Africa’s pace attack. Pakistan, in their recent series on these shores, struggled at times against the short ball. Sri Lanka’s batsmen will be sure to receive a pace test, so how they come out of it will be key to the result. The likes of Niroshan Dickwella, Kusal Mendis and Kusal Perera will be crucial in setting a platform for the damaging Thisara Perera to play with great freedom. Will the happy tour so far continue that way?

Key stats and comments:

  • Quinton de Kock has been in excellent form. However, if credits are an issue, then Niroshan Dickwella is a good option. He is coming off scores of 76 and 46 in the recent series vs New Zealand.
  • David Miller has an underwhelming record at New Wanderers Stadium, averaging 25.25 in six matches with a top score of 39. However, he can be a good option for you in terms of balance.
  • Faf du Plessis has a strong record in Johannesburg, averaging nearly 50 in seven matches. Upul Tharanga has a solid record in South Africa, with 365 runs in 10 matches.
  • Andile Phehlukwayo has 15 wickets in his last nine ODIs. Rassie van der Dussen has made a strong start to his ODI career, and could be an option over Reeza Hendricks.
  • Lasith Malinga has 15 wickets in eight ODIs in South Africa.
  • Vishwa Fernando and Kasuan Rajitha have just six wickets between them in nine ODIs, but both are in good touch of late.
  • Thisara Perera’s last two ODI knocks: 140 (74) and 80 (63).
  • Akila Dananjaya is also a decent option with the Wanderers pitch dry in the last match vs Pakistan.

In a World Cup year, T20Is are an entrée.

We now have the main course.

India are one of the most in-form sides in ODI Cricket. Virat Kohli’s men will be keen to overturn their disappointing T20I series, in a format where they have found plenty of joy since the last World Cup. They have won 54 of 80 matches since their semi final appearance in Sydney, and are coming off magnificent series wins in Australia and New Zealand so far in 2019. Will they kick off this high-stakes series with a win?

Confidence is now increasing again in the Australia camp. Two series wins in a row across formats has brought back that winning feeling. However, ODIs in India is one of the biggest tests, highlighted by the fact that no side has won a series there since South Africa’s 3-2 win almost four years ago. Indeed, Australia are right to believe, given they were very competitive in the recent series at home vs India, when not many gave them a chance. Will they start another limited overs series vs India with a win?

Key to an India win

India’s bowling in the powerplay overs has been brilliant so far in 2019. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami have been central to their series wins in Australia and New Zealand. With Kumar not in the squad, the return of the excellent Jasprit Bumrah will be a nice boost for India in pushing Australia onto the back foot with early wickets. Will Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav come on to bowl with Australia’s middle order looking to get set? Can India dominate those important middle overs, which has been a key part of their good record over the last few years? With Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell crucial to Australia’s finishing, India have the opportunity to get them at the crease earlier than Australia would like.

Also, while India’s middle order has shown good form of late, much still rests on the top three. Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli have contributed nearly two-thirds of India’s runs since the last World Cup. Here, as well as in the upcoming World Cup, India need at least two of the three to get in, setting the side up beautifully for a big total. With the likes of MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav capable of strong finishing, reaching the final ten overs with wickets in hand and a strong platform is crucial for India. Will they avoid a terrible start as they suffered in their last two ODI defeats – in Hamilton and Sydney?

Key to an Australia win

Australia made their intentions clear in the ODI series against India in January. Strike rotation is crucial to their cause against spin, with the top-middle order containing a number of accumulators. It remains to be seen whether Alex Carey opens, but regardless of who his partner is, it is time for Aaron Finch to step up. His form has been ordinary since his fruitful T20I series in Zimbabwe last year, and has to deliver a strong start for Australia to relieve pressure on his middle order in the middle overs. If both Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis are dismissed earlier than Australia would like, as they were in the Adelaide and Melbourne ODIs, they risk losing momentum. Of course, the return of Pat Cummins down the order is a big boost.

Also, Australia possess a very promising bowling attack. Jhye Richardson was superb in the series against India recently, scything through the top order to set up victory in Sydney. Conditions were certainly be different in Hyderabad, but Australia’s seamers need to execute great lines and lengths, with a focus on forcing India’s prolific top three to hit good balls for runs. Tight middle-off stump lines will be key, setting a platform for the likes of Adam Zampa, Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis to target India’s middle order. If India do go in with three seamers, they will have a long tail. Can Australia force an MS Dhoni rebuild?

Possible Playing 11

Mohammed Shami has made himself undroppable after excellent performances so far in 2019. Jasprit Bumrah returns to the ODI side, and so too Virat Kohli. The decision for India will be around the makeup of their middle order. Do they go with Vijay Shankar or Ravindra Jadeja? What about Ambati Rayudu or KL Rahul?

India: 1. Rohit Sharma, 2. Shikhar Dhawan, 3. Virat Kohli (c), 4. Ambati Rayudu/KL Rahul, 5. MS Dhoni (wk), 6. Kedar Jadhav, 7.Vijay Shankar 8. Mohammed Shami, 9. Kuldeep Yadav, 10. Yuzvendra Chahal, 11. Jasprit Bumrah

Cricket Tips: Five ways to improve as a cricket player!

For Australia, Shaun Marsh is still unavailable. Ashton Turner could be in line for a debut. Also, Justin Langer, disappointingly, has suggested Maxwell will stay down the order.

Australia: 1. Aaron Finch (c), 2. Usman Khawaja, 3. Peter Handscomb, 4. Marcus Stoinis, 5. Glenn Maxwell, 6. Ashton Turner, 7. Alex Carey (wk), 8. Adam Zampa, 9. Pat Cummins, 10. Jason Behrendorff/Nathan Coulter-Nile, 11. Jhye Richardson

Key stats and points:

  • India have played just five ODIs at the Ranjiv Ghandi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The last was vs Sri Lanka in 2014.
  • Rohit Sharma has started his last three ODI series in fine fashion. 152* vs West Indies, 133 vs Australia and 87 vs New Zealand.
  • Glenn Maxwell was superb in the T20Is, but what impact will he have at number seven? How much will he bowl?
  • Shaun Marsh would have been an automatic pick for Australia, but is still unavailable. Usman Khawaja, despite his troubles against spin, could enjoy the white ball game in India.
  • Kuldeep Yadav usually starts each ODI series in brilliant fashion. In India’s last three series, he has taken 3/67, 2/54 and 4/39 in the first match. This is on top of his 6/25 vs England last year.
  • Pat Cummins’ his record against India in ODIs isn’t too great. He has four wickets in six matches at 68.00. However, he has been in great form of late and is certainly worth considering.

Stats and Facts

  • Australia have won both their ODIs in Hyderabad. This was a long time ago, back in 2007 and 2009.
  • Rohit Sharma is 192 runs away from 8,000 in ODIs.
  • India have lost the first match of each of their last three LOI series vs Australia.

Match Prediction

Really looking forward to this one.

India are deserved favourites, but will they beat Australia easily? Don’t think so.

However, the absence of Shaun Marsh in ODIs could really hurt Australia. I expect them to put a really good fight, but India might just pip them.

West Indies vs England 5th ODI Preview Dream11. WI vs ENG 5th ODI Preview Dream11 Prediction

A series that has delivered big talking points, excellent atmosphere, unexpected moments and plenty of big hitting reaches its crescendo.

It has just rekindled hope of a big year for West Indies. They were on track to chase a mammoth 419 in the fourth ODI, which they should have got to in the end. The fatal final over against Adil Rashid may have dampened the spirits on that day itself, but the Windies have shown their capabilities. They still have the chance to level the series, which will be some effort against the world number one side. Can the bowlers hold their own, and get one more huge innings from Chris Gayle?

England have once again highlighted their incredible batting ability. There have been six totals of 400 since the 2015 World Cup, and England have scored four of them. However, Wednesday’s incredible onslaught should have been enough for an easy win, which wasn’t the case. Should England be concerned about their bowling? Will it come to haunt them in the World Cup? Here, the focus needs to be on a complete performance not only to seal the series, but to inspire further confidence in a World Cup year.

Key to a West Indies win

West Indies will be hoping for a strong Gayle in St Lucia. Instead of heavy rain and damaging wind, the Windies will be keen to send out danger warnings for heavy hitting and damaging strokeplay. Chris Gayle, who has hinted at ‘un-retirement’ has had a superb series, setting the tone, even if he had slow starts earlier in the series. A fast start from him again enables others around him to play with freedom. So, it is of disappointment to the Windies that Shai Hope hasn’t quite got going in the last couple of matches, so the onus is on him to compete with England’s magnificent wicket keeper batsman, Jos Buttler. Can Shimron Hetmyer also play another innings of substance, setting a platform for a strong middle-lower order to go big?

However, the big need for improvement for the Windies is with the ball. They conceded a world record 24 sixes in the fourth ODI, after they were so fantastic in defending 289 in the second ODI. Jason Holder had a rare off-day, and Devendra Bishoo was entrusted to bowl just four overs, struggling in the powerplay. It was carnage all-round, which began with a very fast powerplay, much like the first ODI. So, it is no coincidence that in the game the Windies won, they broke the opening partnership early and got into England’s lineup. Can they do the same in the final match?

Key to an England win

It is a sight to behold when England get going, even as a rival fan. Their ability to trade blows for an extended period of time is testament to their number one ranking. They are continuously leading the way in ODI batting, and to win the series, you feel another strong batting display is of need. Both wins have been accompanied by strong powerplays, which will be key here, with the middle order then following up strongly. Eoin Morgan has been superb, and Jos Buttler has burst into life. Will it another day of carnage?

Also read: How to respond to someone who says “cricket is so boring!”

However, there is always the lingering thought in the back of England’s mind. Is their bowling good enough to get them home if their batting doesn’t quite fire? They have had their moments this series, but have largely gone the distance, which puts onus on the up-front bowlers, particularly in-form Mark Wood, to pick up early wickets. The back of Chris Gayle early can set the tone, with the change bowlers enabled to put pressure on the Windies’ middle order. England need to be a little better under pressure, with an example being Chris Woakes bowling wide half vollies and full tosses with mid off and cover up in the final overs. Will it be an all-round positive day for England?

Do West Indies persist with Devendra Bishoo? Fabian Allen is in the squad, and could be given a chance. Andre Russell is also in the squad, but Carlos Brathwaite played arguably his best ODI in the fourth match. Could they both play?

West Indies: 1. Chris Gayle, 2. John Campbell, 3. Shai Hope (wk), 4. Darren Bravo, 5. Shimron Hetmyer, 6. Carlos Brathwaite, 7. Andre Russell/Fabian Allen, 8. Jason Holder (c), 9. Ashley Nurse, 10. Sheldon Cottrell, 11. Oshane Thomas

Cricket Tips: Five ways to improve as a cricket player!

Chris Woakes conceded 91 runs in 10 overs last time out. It remains to be seen whether he plays. Same also for Moeen Ali, who went the distance in his two overs the other day. His figures this series read: 10-0-85-0, 7-0-51-0, 2-0-31-0.

England: 1. Jonny Bairstow, 2. Alex Hales/Jason Roy, 3. Joe Root, 4. Eoin Morgan (c), 5. Ben Stokes, 6. Jos Buttler (wk), 7. Moeen Ali, 8. Chris Woakes, 9. Liam Plunkett, 10. Adil Rashid, 11. Mark Wood

Dream11 Prediction

Stats and comments:

  • The Darren Sammy International Stadium is typically slower in nature. Conditions are expected to be partly cloudly.
  • Chris Gayle has 523 runs at 38.69 at Darren Sammy International Stadium. His form this series warrants him to be picked (135, 50, 162).
  • Jos Buttler has burst into life. Shai Hope possesses class, which makes him a viable option, but how can Buttler be ignored?
  • Eoin Morgan has had a superb series, continuing his amazing ODI form. His scores: 65, 70, 103.
  • Jonny Bairstow showed some of his best form in Grenada. Wait till teams are announced to decide between Alex Hales or Jason Roy, if you wish to have an England opener other than Bairstow.
  • Darren Bravo has been in promising form, making scores of 40, 25 and 61 this series. His record at St Lucia is poor, but his form this series has been solid.
  • Sheldon Cottrell (6) and Oshane Thomas (4) have 10 wickets between them this series. Adil Rashid (9) and Mark Wood (5) are England’s leading wicket takers.

Afghanistan vs Ireland 1st ODI Preview Dream11

Afghanistan vs Ireland 1st ODI Preview Dream11. AFG vs IRE 1st ODI Preview Dream11 Prediction

It has been an unbelievable day in the cricketing world.

Virat Kohli’s whirlwind 72* off 38 balls was bettered by Glenn Maxwell in Bangalore. Eoin Morgan’s 88-ball 103 was by far the slowest century in an incredible ODI, headlined by Jos Buttler and Chris Gayle in Grenada. Then, Tamim Iqbal believed that playing a Test should be not deterrent, scoring his own run-a-ball century in Hamilton.

So what does the first ODI between Afghanistan and Ireland have in store?

Afghanistan have been making their own headlines. The recently concluded T20I series was full of amazing achievements, including Hazratullah Zazai’s incredible 162*, Afghanistan scoring 278/3, Mohammad Nabi’s magnificent all-round performances and Rashid Khan’s brilliance with the ball. The stage is set, in a World Cup year, for Afghanistan to continue their amazing progress. Will they heap further misery on their opponents?

Their opponents, Ireland, made such a promising start to this tour. They pushed Afghanistan hard in the opening T20I, but then suffered from a bad case of Afghanistan power in the next two games. There is sadly no World Cup for Ireland to look forward to this year, but they can send out a strong message to the ICC with a big performance after a tough T20I series. Can they cause an upset?

Key to an Afghanistan win

Afghanistan’s batting was outstanding in the T20I series. However, the challenge here will be making the necessary adjustments to the ODI format. Hazratullah Zazai struggled to adapt in his two ODIs in Ireland last year, which was also indicative of Afghanistan as a whole in that series. They won 2-1 in the end, but the number of unconverted starts is something Asghar Afghan would like to see improved. Their batting in the Asian Cup last year was promising, and if they can find form and get into good habits here, confidence will only grow. Will the likes of Mohammad Shahzad (who can provide a really fast start with Zazai), Rahmat Shah and Hashmatullah Shahidi help set a strong platform for Mohammad Nabi and co. to go hard in the middle order?

Also, plenty of onus will be Afghanistan’s spinners. Mujeeb ur Rahman, Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan were too good for Ireland in Ireland last year, which renders them very dangerous prospects in India. Rashid Khan in particular is in superb form, coming off 11 wickets in the T20I series. However, with Ireland keen to go after the seamers, how Aftab Alam and co. fare will also be key to victory.

Afghanistan vs Ireland 1st ODI Preview Dream11. AFG vs IRE 1st ODI Preview Dream11 Prediction Cricket Blog
Image credit: AFP. Afghanistan vs Ireland 1st ODI Preview Dream11 – Mohammad Nabi continues to deliver the goods.

Key to an Ireland win

Ireland desperately need control with the ball. They conceded a total of 488 runs in the last two T20Is, carted around all over Dehadrun. However, a source of confidence can be that Afghanistan are not immune to losing early wickets, which places onus on the likes of Tim Murtagh and Boyd Rankin to provide a strong start. With a number of all-rounders and spin options to follow, it is crucial that Ireland get a good shot at Afghanistan’s middle order as early as possible. Can they create pressure effectively and build on it?

However, if Ireland don’t play Afghanistan’s spinners well, then it is highly unlikely they will win even if they bowl superbly. They certainly weren’t disgraced with the bat in the T20Is, scoring 194/6 and 178/8 in the final two matches. William Porterfield, Paul Stirling and Kevin O’Brien will be crucial to the cause, providing the backbone to the innings that can enable the others to play around them. Can Ireland keep the strike rotating effectively against the spinners, leaving wickets in hand for a big push in the death overs?

Afghanistan vs Ireland 1st ODI Preview Dream11 – Will Ireland pick up an upset win?

Possible Playing 11

It will be interesting to see whether Afghanistan go with Hazratullah Zazai, or stick with the same lineup as their last ODI – a thrilling tie vs India.

Afghanistan: 1. Hazratullah Zazai, 2. Mohammad Shahzad (wk), 3. Rahmat Shah, 4. Hashmatullah Shahidi, 5. Asghar Afghan (c), 6. Mohammad Nabi, 7. Najibullah Zadran, 8. Gulbadin Naib, 9. Rashid Khan, 10. Mujeeb ur Rahman, 11. Aftab Alam

William Porterfield returns to captain the side, which means Kevin O’Brien will move to the middle order. Either Barry McCarthy or Peter Chase could make up the final piece of the pace attack.

Ireland: 1. William Porterfield (c), 2. Paul Stirling, 3. Andy Balbirnie, 4. Lorcan Tucker, 5. Kevin O’Brien, 6. Simi Singh, 7. Stuart Poynter (wk), 8. George Dockrell, 9. Peter Chase/Barry McCarthy, 10. Boyd Rankin, 11. Tim Murtagh

How to reply to someone who says “cricket is so boring”

How to reply to someone who says “cricket is so boring”

We’ve all heard it.

You may be at a work dinner, friends gathering, or even a date, where you hear those dreaded words.

No, not “you’re fired”.

Nor is it “I’m not interested”.

It is the famous “cricket is so boring” statement.

This statement reeks of a lack of understanding of the true intricacies of this great game. However, answering them with “you don’t get it” is as cliché as sportspeople saying “one game at a time”.

Cutting these people out of your life might be a thought, but sometimes not possible!

So, how do we help those who stroll around believing cricket is a boring game? How do we grab their attention? Or have them actually stop for a second to have a think about how good cricket might actually be? Whether they actually go and try to learn about the game doesn’t matter, but the least us cricket fans can do is cover the game we love in full glory!

Below are five responses you can come back with when you hear this statement.

1. Ever been to a fun math class? No? I have.

That’s right.

Cricket makes math fun.

You might have a great teacher, but Pythagoras Theorem is something that only lasts so long in the mind. However, discussions over averages, strike rates, run rates, wins, losses and other statistics stay with you for life.

There is nothing quite like the fine cricket statistic. Pity those who only have the basic math!

How to reply to someone who says
How to reply to someone who says “cricket is so boring” – No one is ever in this state when discussing cricket statistics.

2. Nothing can give you quite the roller coaster of emotion

Cricket goes for a longer period of time than other sports, but nothing grips you quite like it. Thrilling matches in other sports such as football and basketball are fantastic, but cricket is so unique.

The nature of the sport makes emotional roller coasters part and parcel of the game. Think of India vs Bangladesh in the World T20 2016. Or the Final of that tournament. What about the 2019 World Cup Final, the best ODI ever? Or one of the greatest Test series of all time?

These are only some of thousands of examples of the twists and turns cricket offers. The whole complexion of a game can change over a short or longer period of time, depending on the amount of pressure applied by one team. Sure, there are some games that aren’t that great, and even predictable, but which sport is immune to that?

Remember, away sides are now winning more Test cricket!

3. Ask them what they know about cricket.

Surprise them and turn the conversation back to them.

Ask them what they know about cricket.

They will likely say “it’s just people throwing and hitting a ball for five days, then waiting all day in the hot sun for it to come to them”.

Perfectly leads into the next response.

4. It’s a game of tactics. A game of the mind.

So if it’s just hitting a ball around, how do you win?

How will you get the better of the opposition?

Planning and executing tactics is one of the most rewarding aspects of cricket. Like executing a business strategy, it is about exploring your opportunities and targeting them.

You have to be very mentally very strong to succeed. Fit, too. A little more than just throwing and hitting a ball around!

Cricket Tips: Five ways to improve as a cricket player!

5. Different formats are available.

Test cricket, even though it was the format many of us fell in love with first, might be too much to introduce newbies to in this age of instant gratification. For those not aware of cricket, their assumption is that it all seems to go on forever.

T20s go for just a few hours, and are fast paced. Entertainment is the main aim, which satisfies many. ODIs and Tests go for longer, but are more a game of skill and mind (in my opinion!)

So, if you are faced with the “cricket is so boring” statement, you might have something to come back with and start a conversation!

Do you have any to add?

New Zealand vs Bangladesh 1st Test Preview Dream11

New Zealand vs Bangladesh 1st Test Preview Dream11. NZ vs BAN 1st Test Preview Dream11 Prediction

With a plethora of white-ball cricket around the world, attention turns to Test cricket in New Zealand. A rare, three match series for Bangladesh is peculiar timing with a World Cup fast approaching, but both sides have plenty to play for.

New Zealand are now the second ranked Test side, and will be out to maintain it. They have been on an excellent run in the format, beating England, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the past year. They have an excellent opportunity to continue the form, with the only realistic reason of New Zealand underperforming is complacency. However, Kane Williamson is one to ensure that won’t be the case, as his side looks to continue its good run.

Bangladesh came to New Zealand full of hope. Instead, they have been on the wrong end of a very one-sided tour to date. With Sri Lanka achieving one of the most stunning upsets in Test history, Bangladesh can possibly dream of the same. However, with Shakib Al Hasan out and Mushfiqur Rahim in doubt, this may be too much to ask. Will Bangladesh put up a big fight, and continue on from three straight wins at home at the back end of last year?

Key to a New Zealand win

There is no secret that Bangladesh struggle against the moving ball. New Zealand possess two of the most potent swing bowlers in world cricket, which is a dangerous prospect for the Tigers’ batsmen. Trent Boult and Tim Southee are both in fine form, even getting the white ball to move prodigiously, and how they fare against the Bangladesh top order will be key. They have the potential to set the game up in the first ten overs with quick wickets a key element of their best form. Neil Wagner also continues to prove his worth in the Test shirt, and his big efforts will be key in keeping the pressure on a Bangladesh side struggling for form and continuity.

Also, will it be a ruthless display by New Zealand’s batsmen? Jeet Raval has been slightly disappointing of late at Test level, and has a great opportunity to get back in the runs. With Tom Latham dominant against Sri Lanka, and Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor, Henry Nicholls and BJ Watling to follow, New Zealand have a top six that can grind Bangladesh down. However, the big key in this game will be how well and quickly New Zealand make the transition from white-ball cricket to Test cricket. Can New Zealand take full advantage of a side that often struggles for penetration in these conditions?

Image credit: Black Caps. New Zealand vs Bangladesh 1st Test Preview Dream11 – Kane Williamson has a strong record vs Bangladesh

Cricket Tips: Five ways to improve as a cricket player!

Key to a Bangladesh win

Wouldn’t this be something?

It has been a nightmare tour to date for the Tigers. Faced with a moving ball in the ODIs, Bangladesh’s top order resembled deers caught in headlights. The test (no pun intended) gets no easier with the red ball to swing too, which places significant onus on the top order to show some fight.

Tamim Iqbal has been poor to date so far this tour, and will be key in helping Bangladesh settle into their innings. With both Shakib and Mushfiqur likely to be out, it is crucial for Bangladesh that the experienced Tamim and Mahmudullah contribute to the cause, along with the impressive Shadman Islam. Islam, along with Mominul Haque, have the technique and temperament Bangladesh need to be successful at this level, so their performance will be key. Will the likes of the consistent (not) Liton Das and Soumya Sarkar be given the platform to do well? With conditions expected to have something for the bowlers early before settling down, a strong start is crucial.

Also, Bangladesh’s bowlers have often struggled for penetration in conditions outside of theirs, with their seamers unable to find the movement and consistency required. The likes of Tom Latham and Kane Williamson will be key wickets to enable Bangladesh to get into New Zealand’s middle order. How much will the likes of Mustafizur Rahman threaten up top and then throughout the innings? Can Bangladesh find movement and success like Sri Lanka did in South Africa?

Image credit: Getty Images. New Zealand vs Bangladesh 1st Test Preview Dream11 – Can Tamim Iqbal fire for his side?

Possible Playing 11

New Zealand look pretty settled. Todd Astle was brought into the squad for Ajaz Patel, and will lineup as the spinner.

New Zealand: 1. Jeet Raval, 2. Tom Latham, 3. Kane Williamson (c), 4. Ross Taylor, 5. Henry Nicholls, 6. BJ Watling (wk), 7. Colin de Grandhomme, 8. Tim Southee, 9. Todd Astle, 10. Neil Wagner, 11. Trent Boult

Cricket Tips: Five ways to improve as a cricket player!

Bangladesh, on the other hand, are anything but settled. Shakib Al Hasan is injured, and senior wicketkeeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim looks likely to miss out with a rib problem. Mohammad Mithun has recovered from a hamstring problem.

Bangladesh: 1. Tamim Iqbal, 2. Shadman Islam, 3. Mominul Haque, 4. Mohammad Mithun, 5. Mahmudullah (c), 6. Liton Das (wk), 7. Soumya Sarkar, 8. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, 9. Khaled Ahmed, 10. Abu Jayed, 11. Ebadat Hossain

Dream11 Prediction

Also read: Pros and cons of Dream11’s deadline time decision.

Key notes and stats:

  • The team bowling first has had the better of the last three Tests as Seddon Park.
  • BJ Watling has a steady record at Seddon Park, scoring 233 runs in six Tests at 33. Liton Das is yet to play a Test against New Zealand, and struggled against the swinging ball in the ODIs, but could be a good pick batting down the order when the ball swings less.
  • Jeet Raval has a solid record at Seddon Park, scoring 233 runs at 46.60. With Kane Williamson (679 runs at 56.58) and Ross Taylor (762 runs at 54.43) possessing fine records at Hamilton, it might be worth selecting one of Tom Latham or Raval. Henry Nicholls, the world’s number five ranked Test batsman, is also a good option.
  • In the Tests vs Sri Lanka, Latham scored 450 runs at 225, whereas Raval scored 123 at 41. However, Latham has a underwhelming record at Seddon Park, scoring 206 runs at 29.43. Of course, he might prefer the Bangladesh attack.
  • This will be the biggest test so far for Shadman Islam, but his temperament is excellent. He is coming off 67 vs NZ XI in the tour match.
  • Mahmudullah scored a Test century the last time he played at Seddon Park. Also, will Colin de Grandhomme and Todd Astle get a big say? As a result, Mehidy Hasan Miraz might be worth going for.
  • Trent Boult and Tim Southee are must picks.

Stats and Facts

  • Bangladesh have won their last three Tests, but have lost all seven Tests in New Zealand.
  • New Zealand have won 10 of their past 16 Tests, which includes four draws and just two defeats.
  • Trent Boult and Tim Southee have a combined 51 wickets at Seddon Park. Boult averages just over 24. Southee just 20.

Match Prediction

I love an underdog and upset. However, this seems to be too far out of reach for Bangladesh right now.

New Zealand to win and take a 1-0 series lead.

Just copy and paste the previous preview? Not quite.

Both teams now have the chance to ensure they cannot lose this series. Also, plenty of rain in Grenada in recent days, which is expected to clear by this match, could provide assistance to the bowlers. Who will take a 2-1 series lead?

West Indies would have loved to have taken the field on Monday. Unfortunately, the Grenada weather had other ideas, consigning the Windies to a four day wait after a fine win in the second ODI. With more positive murmurs about their chances of competing at this year’s World Cup, can the Windies make another strong statement against the world’s number one ODI side? A big opportunity awaits.

England surely would have also liked to take the field in the third ODI. Eoin Morgan has led this side in such a way that their ability to bounce back has been key to their rise to number one, but like the Windies, have had to wait that little bit longer. It has been a really challenging tour so far for England, but have the opportunity here to build confidence against a really committed Windies side. Will England flex their muscle with the World Cup fast approaching?

Key to a West Indies win

There is more to play for in the context of this series. However, medium-long term consistency is crucial for West Indies.

Their fielding and catching has left plenty to be desired so far this series. They must improve, as England have proven time and time again that they can improve themselves. With the ball, second ODI star Sheldon Cottrell will undoubtedly be key once again, along with the likes of Jason Holder, Oshane Thomas and Devendra Bishoo, all of whom are capable of wickets. Where the Windies took a big step to victory in Barbados was dismissing both Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow early, which forced an England rebuild. If the Windies can produce the goods up top, they are a chance of picking up regular wickets to heap the pressure on England.

Also, the same question ahead of the third ODI applies to the fourth. The Windies’ top four played out 176 balls for 131 runs in the second ODI, with four unconverted starts. That is room for improvement in Grenada, with Shimron Hetmyer mighty capable of building on a strong platform. Will Chris Gayle continue his fine form? Can Shai Hope deliver a free-flowing innings to push England on the back foot? In a big game, the Windies’ big names need to stand up.

Key to an England win

England chased 361 with ease, and then were unable to reach 290 two days later. The key difference between the two batting performances was the contributions of the top three. Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow are capable of pushing the Windies onto the back foot with a rapid powerplay, which then allows Joe Root to rotate strike nicely. With Eoin Morgan and Ben Stokes looking in dangerous form, followed by Jos Buttler, no one can forget England’s ability to score big totals. Will it be a complete batting display by England?

Will it also be a complete bowling display? Mark Wood and Liam Plunkett put in improved performances in the second ODI, and with Chris Woakes and Ben Stokes, England have wicket taking ability in their seam attack. However, Moeen Ali has been well under par, so the contribution of he and the underused Adil Rashid will be key in ensuring the Windies aren’t let off the hook. Can England build up dot balls in the early overs, and convert pressure into wickets to lift pressure on the Windies’ middle order?

Cricket Tips: Five ways to improve as a cricket player!

Stats and Facts

  • West Indies have won their last five ODIs at the National Cricket Stadium in Grenada (three vs Zimbabwe, two vs Bangladesh).
  • West Indies still have the chance to win back-to-back ODIs vs England. They haven’t done so since 2009.
  • England have not lost two consecutive ODIs since January 2017. They have lost nine ODIs since then, but have always followed up with a win in the next match.

Match Prediction

Hopefully conditions will indeed be more friendly for the resumption of this exciting series.

With England’s bounce back ability, I will pick them to win. However, you can’t count out those Windies!
